Best Steam Cleaner For Home (2024 Update)

I bought my Dupray Neat Steamer 2 years ago. It’s become one of my favorite cleaning tools for tackling the tough and weird to clean things like the couch and our big area rug. Since my last cleaning, I had an issue with the cap getting stuck despite proper cleaning and air drying after my last use. I was very happy to work with Nilan in customer service who helped me with my warranty and shipping. One of my favorite things Ive ever bought. Its so easy to use. I absolutely love it. I love that I can use my own cloths on it instead of purchasing the expensive pads. It does come with 3. My only complaints are I wish the hose detached and it would be nice if there was a safety switch so I could lock the trigger so my 2 year old cant mess with it. If I need to take a break I have to shut it off and put it up so he cant get it. Then I have to wait for it to heat back up. Other than that its definitely worth the price.Beth

I've been using this steam cleaner for a while now. I used it to completely clean an apartment that I was moving out of and the landlord was impressed with the cleaning job that we did. The carpet was a little trampled down in the high traffic areas and the stream treatment helped to bring it back to its former fluffy self. I use it almost every weekend to clean my bathrooms and hard floors as well. I never have issues with steam productions and it has held up so far.Tyler

This product is great. It puts the Shark steam cleaner to shame. Its very powerful and last quite a long time on just a cup of water. It will give you about 15-20 minutes of continuous usage. However, if you press the trigger sporadically, it can last about 30-45 minutes. The steam blast is loud and packs a punch. I use this thing to clean and sanitize everything from my bathroom to the kitchen (always sanitize the nozzle with bleach or alcohol after use to avoid cross contamination). Another great feature is all the attachments it comes with so you can steam clean almost anything. My only issue is the quality of some of the attachment. The small brushes and scrub pads aren't really reusable. After the first usage, they start to fall apart, especially the scrub pads which are excellent for cleaning your tub and tile. You can buy more attachments online, but its kind expensive costing 10 for 5. One reason I switched to steam cleaning was to save money on cleaning solutions, but if I have to constantly buy the attachments, eventually it will work out to cost more than the cleaning solutions. But I recently used the steamer to clean this very disgusting fridge in the apartment Im renting. I bought this tool to clean 1/2 grout tile floor grout. It worked great for the first 10 minutes, and it would great for the process, except it is not designed properly. I has a special small nozzle head, upon which small brush attachments are placed. There are three pieces, brush, nozzle, and nozzle attachment (to hook to hose or hose extension). The nozzle is made of thermoplastic, like the rest of the unit, except the pressure chamber cap, which is brass. The nozzle needed to be made of brass as well. The thermoplastic heats up, and a threaded piece (with o-ring) when at temperature cannot handle GENTLE scrubbing with the brush. (e.g. for the purpose it is made.) The nozzle fitting jumps the threads every time, once it heats up. So the unit is only good to use for about 10 minutes, before the nozzle gets soft from heat, and falls off constantly. If they made the nozzle out of brass, and the end piece (nozzle attach) out of metal, it would work great. But they didn't, so it is pure frustration to CONSTANTLY put the nozzle on again, and again, and again. This gets 1 star. It works great for 10 minutes, then its useless. If used with the larger attachments, it would probably be a great value; but I need it to clean grout. It says it cleans grout, but it really doesn't.MesaGuy

I've only used the MC1275 once to clean shower floor tile grout using the scrub pad attachment. I filled the steam chamber one time with distilled water, and the steam was ready in approximately 5 minutes. It was easy to control, but did a marginal job restoring the whiteness of the grout. The scrub pad itself came loose and separated completely from its plastic base in under 10 minutes. While the steamer worked as advertised, steaming cleaning the grout didn't live up to my expectations, and the scrub pad's durability was a major disappointment. The good – it produced steam reliably; control is easy to maintain. The bad – the scrub pad is virtually useless for scrubbing applications; steam alone will not magically clean discolored tile grout.beforemytime

Love this mop. Cleans carpets, windows, furniture, just think of what you could possibly clean. Believe it or not this mop with detachable handheld steamer will remove wrinkles before your eyes. BEST PART, it takes regular tap water. Awesome absolutely amazing tool. Comes with attachments. Clean grout, windows, baseboards, even removes paint mishaps from your wood floors, not floor finish. u hust received this item today. I was excited to use it si ive only used this one time so far, on my hardwood floors. It heated up quickly and lasted longer than expected. It was able to get up some spots that regular swiffering or mopping couldnt get. I do not like how short the cord is. I dont have a large house and my stuck vacuum can be plugged in the center of the house and go everywhere. This steam mop have to be plug in two separate outlets, and would've been more if I did the whole house. Also i don't like that the plug can't be clipped on the cord to store. That seems like its just obvious for it to gave that little extra piece. Those are my reviews so far. I'll update if it warrants.Tracy

we moved homes and omg, when I say this, I mean it, but this is my absolute most favorite utility ever. the previous home owners weren't exactly the cleanest and this steam vacuum wasn't gonna take any of that. paint on the floor that even those industrial grade stain removers couldnt peel? no problem. sticky icky gooey set in mess on the counter? no problem. nasty stains in the bathtub? no problem. disgusting window stuff? consider it gone. cabinets dirty and messy? not anymore. this little tool has been phenomenal when it came to cleaning everything around the house, the house legitimately felt like it was brand new after we were done with rhis. btw for anyone wondering, I did all this by using the pressure attachment only on the steam vacuum, nothing else. while steaming the messy spots, I would rub it back and forth with the steam vacuums nozzle itselfShamim

We frequently have six grand children running around are house. They mainly stay in the living room where Nana let's them eat snacks! The carpet had noticably dingy traffic areas, spills, and various snack crumbs smashed into the carpet around the coffee table area. As a former professional carpet cleaner of five + years, I am amazed at how well this smart wash carpet cleaner cleaned our carpet! The living room is approximately 13' x 20' and used 2 gallons of hot water with mixed detergent to clean. The traffic areas and spills took multiple passes as expected. 1 gallon of water without detergent was used to rinse the carpet and extract any remaining detergent from the carpet. Rinsing is an important step because detergent is designed to attract dirt and if not rinsed properly, will attract more dirt to the carpet. I was sceptical at first and thought at best the carpet would look "better". However, the hoover smart wash outperformed my expectations and the carpet actually looks clean! I highly recommend the smart wash carpet cleaner.Feathered Edge

I've owned this machine for little over two years now and overall it's been great but there was one issue I had about six months into owning it with the dry only button and I was frustrated but Hoover was awesome about it and sent me a box and return label so they could see the problem and fix it. Not only did they send me a brand new machine, they also sent me my old one fixed and restored! This machine does an amazing job and it's much lighter to push than the older previous models. It takes a little bit getting used to it at first since it operates differently than older models. Once you get used to it, it's easy. One complaint I have is it's a pain having to remove the small cleaning solution container and setting it aside for rinsing with water only. (Note: be sure to place it upside down or it will leak cleaning solution all over the floor) Not a deal breaker but I hope with future models there can be a switch to use clean water only for rinsing. One thing I will stress that helps is to clean out the machine good after every cleaning! With this model it is easy to remove the brushes and the plastic covering them. I've always been impressed with Hoover carpet cleaning machines (I've owned older models in the past)country girl

This particular model has a "dry only" function which did not work on the first unit ordered. It has a circuit board which is either susceptible to damage or manufacturer defect. After going through the gamut of trial and error with customer service, they sent a replacement free of charge.

Here are a few things I've found over the past year of using the unit maybe 10 or 12 times.

The good first.

I like the dry only feature so that way one can use it as a dry vacuum or go over the freshly cleaned carpet to one's heart's content.

It seems pretty light and maneuverable to me and the three agitator brushes do a pretty good job agitating the carpet pile.

Yep, that's about it.

The not so good.

First and foremost there is no way to rinse the cleaning solution mixture from the carpet leaving it behind to dry and attract and hold on to dirt and grime. I used it on a white shag and the tips of the pile turned brown as it dried so I went through the whole process again only this time adding a clean water rinsing step and used my shop vac to remove the rinse water.

Why would I use the Shop-Vac to remove the water you might ask? Because these units do not have enough suction to do the job.

The cleaning solution container does not seal well when removing it from the unit so it tends to get messy and somewhere along the pathway in the unit seems to leak eventually.

The dry only function seems to be malfunctioning or it could be the leaky cleaning solution.

There are a lot of little nooks and crannies to clean after every use if you want to keep it operating as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Ultimately, in my humble opinion, they need to scrap this design and go back to the drawing board. If you remove the cleaning solution container it will make a decent but very expensive vacuum.Andrew

I loved all the attachments on this steamer. Once I started steaming, I couldn't stop! I used every attachment for different purposes. The microfiber cloth and rectangular attachment worked great on my wood floors! The small nylon brush and steel brush were awesome for grout lines! I would have given a 5 star review; however, I wasn't impressed with the window tool. We have a glass shower and it took a LONG time to clean…and didn't work well. Traditional glass cleaner was much more effective and a LOT easier. I also wish the unit came with more microfiber cloths.SJO

This cleaner does a very good job of cleaning. It heats up quickly and has very good pressure, which is adjustable. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is the locking buttons are hard to press to release attachments. I have pinched a finger several times and currently have a blood blister from trying to remove attachments.cat mom

I deep cleaned my entire house with this steam cleaner. It's amazing. It stands by brilliantly without leaking steam while I move things around to clean more. I find that the 700ml lasts a good while before needing to be refilled. The only draw back is that if you must refill you need to let it cool off and depressurize before adding more water. Pros you can use tap water but make sure you maintain per Dupray instructions with vinegar rinse after so many uses. I used every single attachment and I love it but I still need to get the hang of the squeegee. My favorite moment was getting the cracks between my shower surround that I couldn't get with anything else. The pressurized steam blasted out the gunk. It was disturbing and oh so satisfying at the same time. I feel better knowing that I can clean soft surfaces that I can't throw in the laundry, especially for the coming baby. 100% worth the cost, and I'm glad I chose the home over the Neat.Christy R

The cord can be a problem simply because you have to be near an outlet all the time. The unit is not super steady and balanced, so it sometimes tipped over or tilted forward like it was going to fall. There was no way to tell how much water had been used up or when it was empty until it just stopped producing steam and then you'd have to wait several minutes before you could water in it again, so that was a little annoying. It's not a bad steamer, but it definitely has some design flaws.Kimmie

This is not much bigger than dollhouse furniture if you ask me. I bought this months ago and if I had actually taken it out to use it before now, I would have returned it. I had no idea the parts were this small! Good for cleaning very very small spaces! Couldn't handle the laundry area at all. Only good for maybe a sink. Not to mention almost gave my self third degree burns 10 minutes after letting it cool off. The top says 5 minutes. I have twin boy toddlers and let me just say there is no possible way I can go without a carpet cleaner. Since my boys were born I went from cleaning my carpet a few times a year to a few times a week. I’ve literally had just about every carpet cleaner on the market. I know what I want in a carpet cleaner and either they didn’t meet my expectations or they couldn’t handle the abuse.
My Hoover smartwash pet is by far the best I’ve had. The suction this cleaner has is unbelievable. I’ve read some reviews about it losing suction before I bought it and the only thing I can think of is maybe they’re not putting the lid of the dirty tank on correctly. They’ve made it easy to clean the brushes. My carpet dries very quickly and the dirt that comes out of it is amazing!
It cleans better than the others I’ve had, but I still carry my little hand held scrubber brush to get the ground up stuck to the carpet messes my toddlers are notorious of leaving behind. However I cont think there’s a carpet cleaner out there that can handle that. What this does have is the neat pre treating wand that I can use on the mess before I scrub it, which is awesome! I’ve owned it for a few months now and I can honestly say I’m so happy I found this carpet cleaner. It’s well worth the money! I love it!Jamie Adkins

So far I've used this on two carpets. Our garage (very tight low profile and thin) carpet and our bedroom ( on a very dens plush pile carpet with 1/2" pile). Both carpets were extremely dirty (hadn't been cleaned in years). Both carpets came out looking almost brand new. I'm beside the fact that I didn't get pictures, but trust me, this thing works great! Oh, and even if you already had the Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe, you've got to upgrade! The Power Scrub Deluxe works great, but wait till you get your hands on this baby! There are some things that I don't like about this new cleaner and I will list them here, but this is just so hopefully someone in engineering is listening and can make changes to the next unit: – Carry handle: So unbalanced! Why did you move it from the front of the unit!? If I pick up the unit just from the carry handle, it tips over. Especially with water tank full. – If going really slow forward, sometimes the unit things I've stopped and goes into the dry mode and stops spraying solution. I was going pretty darn slow though so not sure if this can be fixed without a manual override. – Water splashes out of the side (mostly on the left side) past the reach of the vacuum. Enough to leave a long streak the length I've pushed forward. Since it's mostly on the left, I've decided to work my way from left to right to be sure and vacuum up that excess water. Maybe a shield is needed to prevent this. -As with my last unit. getting right against walls on wall to wall carpets is impossible. Luckily those are less traveled areas, but unfortunately since this thing cleans so well, there is a noticeable difference between what is scrubbed and what is not. But WOW! this thing cleans well! My last Hoover carpet cleaner lasted 10 years. So we wanted to buy another Hoover product. The machine we bought is very easy to use. Does a great job cleaning and is very easy to clean the machine when finished. All covers and tanks can be removed without the use of any tools, brilliant. Including the rotating brushes. My only concerned about this machine is the plastics are all very light weight. So durability is a concern. I'll have to be very careful when using this machine so as not to damage it. Other than that I'm very happy with its performance. A very well designed carpet cleaner.Will

I bought this two months ago to replace my previous Shark steam mop (a different model), which my daughter "borrowed". I have also had other brands of steam mops in the past. I like that the water tank is removable and can be filled directly from the tap and there is not a little jug which needs to be stored somewhere. I like that it is light and relatively small and hence easy to store and carry. I also like that it stands up by itself. My previous mop had the flip over option and the cloth was like a pocket, with only one side open. Unfortunately it shrank on its first wash and never fitted properly again, often coming off mid-mopping (one of the reasons I did not press y daughter to return it), so I liked that this model's cloth attached differently. The bit I did not anticipate with this model was that whilst the cloths stays on fine when mopping hard floors, I cannot use it to steam clean carpets as the cloths sticks to the carpet in preference to the mop. I wish I had known this before buying this mop. This is the first steam mop I have had where you have to prime the pump to get the steam flowing. This requires you to pump the handle a few times. What the instructions do not say is that you have to continue the pumping action to keep the steam flowing. Now, this happens automatically as you are mopping the floor, but when you stop to move the mop around furniture (which most of us have on our floors) the steam stops and then you have to pump it several times to get it going again. Same issue if you want to hold the mop on a stain to give it a while to soften, steam flow stops. So, overall I would not rush to buy this model again, despite it having some good features.CN263

If you are looking for a small, steam mop that delivers big results, look no further! I decided going in, that this steam mop was going to just be mediocre. But, much to my surprise, cleaned like no one’s business! The little water basin could be a little larger, but it’s not a deal breaker imo. Once plugged in, expect to be ready to mop away in about 20-30 seconds. Yes, for once a product literally gives an accurate description. I use a spray bottle with 1-3 ratio of vinegar water and spray as I mop to give a little extra disinfectant. By the end of my clean, my washable reusable mop pad is filthy with yuck. The mop was super quick and easy to set up and the longer cable meant getting around large floors wasn’t such a task after all, I was reluctant to buy in favour of a cordless but couldn’t find one, I guess for electrical safety reasons these cannot be cordless. Plenty of steam, remember to do the pump action if you experience low steam with it. It takes me moments to go around and do all of our floors here, and the mop came with two pads so I’m not without if the other one hasn’t gone in with the mucky wash yet. The pad head itself twists around in movement so I can easily manoeuvre it down the sides of the toilet and any other skinny gap floor areas that fit. The price was competitive in the sale, and for something as good as this I would go as far as saying overall my purchase is outstanding. Highly recommend!Rachel

The LittleGreen ProHeat deep cleaner was recommended to me by my mom for getting those little messes out of carpets and rugs. I got mine in March of this year and it was doing its job, other than a brush popping off the end of one of the hose attachments (an easy enough fix with some glue). I was happily using the machine about once a week just to touch up around the house, with the occasional bigger spot that needed a couple of tries to come all the way clean. Then, about three weeks ago, I was a little confused about why the dirty water tank didn't seem to be getting fuller. On closer inspection, I found that the hose had developed a sizable hole in one of the creases. The machine is outside of Target's return period and Bissell customer service has been completely unresponsive. For an item I got just a few months ago that is being used regularly, but not heavily, this is an unfortunate turn from being a product I liked to one that I simply cannot recommend.Lane

I purchased online & hoped to do curbside pickup. My local store didn’t have it on hand but shipping looked like it would only take a day or two so I opted to have it shipped. We’ll about 4 hours later (maybe less) it was delivered to my front door. I absolutely couldn’t believe it. What amazing service. My first trial run of the unit was on a bench. I very briefly pre-treated the surface. Then I followed the instructions to spray while scrubbing. I didn’t put a lot of time or huge effort into it. The results are really great and I’m sure they would be even better if I let the pre-treatment soak for longer than 2 minutes. After I cleaned my bench, I could not believe how filthy the water that I suctioned from the bench was. I will be using and loving this little machine a lot!!! It was really easy to assemble and get started. I think I’ll get better at judging how to pre-treat stains and how to scrub. But for a first try using it & doing with almost no effort. I Would Return This If I Could. I Started Out Good, Cleaning My Car Seat, A Spill On My Couch Etc. It Works Ok, But What I Did Not Expect Was That I Needed To Push A Lot Harder Than Expected. This Is Not A Machine That Does The Work For You. You Do All The Work, And The Handles Feel Really Flimsy. The Hose Is Also Made Of Hard Plastic. There Is No Wiggle To It. The Hose Is Also Incredibly Short, Which I Had Read But Wanted To See If It Was A Big Deal. It Is. It Also Leaks From The Bottom, So If One Is To Use This In The Car, You Either Put It In The Car, With Something Underneath, Or You Put It On A Stool Or Something Near You. Because The Hose Is Short, Both Of These Are Risky, Meaning The Bissell Could Fall Over, Get Knocked Off Etc. Not Fun When You're Trying To Clean Something And it's Already Taking Alot Of Work. So Many Negatives, I Would Not Purchase Again. The Hard Plastic Hose Tore, And I Have Only Used This Bissell A Handful Of Times. Maybe 5, And For Mostly Small Things. Not Fun. I have two long haired cats. In my kitchen near the stove I had a lot grease buildup from cooking. Lately I stated to notice my cats hair was shredding and the loose hair was now getting in the grease. I ordererorderer the H20 Mop because I really needed some help. This product took just minutes to put together. The water heats up even quicker and it really did the job. The steam loosens up the grease and the hair, and with one wipe it came off. I can't wait to tackle my bathroom. But this saved me a lot embarassment since my family is coming over for the holidays. No one would have wanted to cook in my kitchen before. It takes less than a minute to warm up. The heat is hot enough to melt away candle wax and nail polish on hardwood floors. It is a little hard, however, to clean vehicle seats with but that's what a detailer is used for! I recommend it. I use it for my tub, my floors and my rugs. I am amazed at how effective this machine is at cleaning up even very old pet stains from carpet and mattress topper. I have two chihuahuas that occasionally barf on the bed or my carpeted bedroom floor, and sometimes they will pee too on the carpeting. I of course blot up as much as possible when this occurs but it was still gross. Not bad enough that it stank to high heaven or anything but the beige carpet looked gross with lots of little spots and definitely needed a freshening. I couldn't believe how immediately this machine removes the pee and barf stains!! Even ones that were really old, even got old bile stains out of a white mattress topper-quickly and easily. Everything looks and smells great now. I really can barely believe it! I happened to get this machine second hand/used from someone's tag sale but I would pay the full price. When I first got the Little Green I used it primarily for cleaning spots on area rugs. It worked well, but always leaked every single time I used it. The suction is pretty weak for a carpet cleaner…I have even done a thorough clean of all the tubes and nozzle to make sure it was 100% clean without any blockage. After not using it for 6 months (and misplacing the water nozzle and suction brush during a move) I replaced both items through the Bissell site. I once again made sure all compartments were clean in the machine before use. Now when I use the machine the dirty water excessively leaks from the bottom (or some area at the bottom of the machine) and the leakage has gotten EXTREMELY worse. I ended up having to place the machine on a heavy duty trash bag on top of a high absorbent mat. When I use the suction, there are LITERAL BUBBLES coming from the bottom of the machine. NOTHING is going into the dirty water tank. Before anyone asks, yes the suction top on the dirty water container is closed and all items are in the proper place. So moral of the story is that instead of having dirty water in the designated tank, it is now pooling in the trash bag. After tonight I will NOT be using this product ever again. Ok, so I see the reviews and I can say I personally have owned 1 of the Bissell Revolutions 2x whatever cleaning power and I was satisfied (extremely satisfied as it still runs). I have a black lab and a long haired cat and I live in the country. We have absolutely no concrete or asphalt surrounding our house, and live by the coast so our dirt is probably about 30-40% sand, so tracking mud and sand is frequent in our home. I still have the Bissell (no complaints there), however I clean mine everytime after I use it and vacuume very very thoroughly before I shampoo with my shark navigator (that I am also very very happy with). The thing with all carpet cleaners is the way you treat them. You can't just vacuume once briefly then expect the shampooer to not pick up hair clumps. Do this: vacuume the area until you think u did good, then empty the vacuume and do it again. If you pick up no hair, use the shampooer. If you keep vacuuming up hair, then keep vacuuming until you basically aren't picking up hair, then you will not have issues with your shampooer. I just got the Hoover Powerdash (I got a super good deal for $20 from a garage sale brand new in box never used so I figured why not, my Bissell isn't a pet model so this will be good to try) and am writng this review in response to all the negative recent reviewers I see just because they are having so many of the same issues with clumped hair and leaks.. First off, don't leave your shampooer with dirty water, and it won't leak. Also, don't leave solution in it or simply store the resiviour separately so you won't have leaks either. These machines mainly use gravity to apply solution, possibly with the assist of a small pump like device that might be powered by the belt rotation to feed water (which is great, never have to replace an actual pump) so if you leave solution or dirty water stored in the resiviors, your bound for issues. It's all common sense, if you expect to just leisurely vacuume and have your shampooer do all the rest, then hire a pro. If your willing to take the correct steps in maintaining and shampooing your carpets to remove grime, these are for you.
One lady stated she's owned 12 of the exact 1 that I own (which is I'm assuming for a business or a friggin mansion) so not sure what she's doing wrong but I guarantee the problem is operator error. Especially if she's having the same issues with the same shampooer that I have never seen, unless of course she's overusing them when she shoulda got a commercial cleaner for whatever she needs 12 of these things. I use mine about 15-20 times per year for the past 2 or 3 years and don't have issues. This is for residential use, if taken care of they will last. One last thing, clean your shampooer directly after use, I take mine out front and rinse it on our gravel driveway, being careful to only lightly spray the nozzle and brush assembly, keeping water away from the motor. This will ensure a clean start next session, and is a hell of a lot easier than cleaning clumped up dirt and hair that's caked up and dried solid before u even get to shampooing and even better for the machine instead of just flat out not cleaning at all and burning out the motor due to naglagence and poor maintenance. Use your head people, these are designed to clean what dry vacumes can't, not vacume up hair and remove grime at once. You need to remove a majority of the hair and then these come in and remove everything else just fine. Plain and simple.
Tip: make your own solution using a mixture of baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, laundry detergent or dish soap and whatever essential oil fragrance you like (orange or grapefruit recommended). Search online for the correct amounts of ingredients for your needsTyler D

this cleans pretty well. Much better than my big Spin Scrub Hoover. This tiny little thing has the right kind of brushroll to pick up the carpet fibers and sweep off the dirt. It has good suction. Traffic areas get matted or compressed so they need the brushroll. What makes it a problem, is that the dirty water reservoir has very limited capacity so it only cleans about a 3×3 foot area before it is too full. That is, in a high traffic area. It might clean a slightly larger area if you are only lightly cleaning invisible dirt. I think the mechanism senses SUDS and freaks out and quits suctioning, and it also let a large amount of sudsy water leak out on my hardwood floor next to my carpet, without warning. If it's not very sudsy, it won't leak so bad, just a little, when full. so i had to empty this dirty water tank 3x on a 2.5x 8 foot hall carpet with low pile. . Not cool. Definitely ONLY for small areas as i said above. I was attracted to the bigger more expensive ones of this style that have 2 brush rolls and much larger capacity, and wider cleaning path. I will probably have to get one of those, as this one won't work well for a regular sized room, even just the traffic areas.lexy

Initially bought to clean carpet from when my pup was sick and tried to hide downstairs in the only part with carpet when she wasn’t feeling well. Unfortunately, that liquid sat into the carpet without knowing for a while. This carpet cleaner took care of that and then some ! I LOVE the feature that it has heat to help dry the carpet so you can basically walk onto it right after. I’ve had my basement get water in it after a storm and I was able to also use this to suck up all the water out of the carpet. It saved us from having to replace the baseboards/carpet. I understand it is compact so it’s not really meant to clean your entire house of carpet. The bin gets full quickly with the dirty fluids. The unit isn’t heavy like a commercial use which could be an issue if you have thick/deep carpet. It’s easily disassembled for cleaning of hair in the brush. I did notice when sucking up water from the thick carpets constantly to save us from flooding it was almost as if I could start to smell the belt running hot. In that case I tried my best to wait longer between vacuuming. I’d recommend this to anyone. 4.5 stars only for unit capacity is slightly not enough for my liking.kelsey.k

My home has mainly hardwood and tile, but the bedrooms are carpet. I wasn’t really in the market for a huge machine, so I went with this one. I’ve done two bedrooms and so far, generally pleased. Pros—lightweight, easy to assemble and maneuver, easy to use. It has done a pretty decent job of removing general dirt that accumulates over time in my carpets. The carpets have also dried quickly for me. I just turned on the ceiling fan after and they were completely dried overnight. Cons—clean water tank is small, so you have to stop multiple times to empty and refill. My standard size guest room took 3 refills; however I considered the size when I bought and knew that was probably going to happen. I also have a problem with the soap suds bubbling through the vent on the top of the dirty water tank. I’m not really sure why it does this. It doesn’t really cause a problem; it’s just weird. The dirty water tank also is designed in a way that makes it hard to clean the inside and get all the water out. Overall, it’s still a solid, compact little machine for the price. As for the complaints about cleaning the brushes, I would make sure that you vacuum you vacuum your home thoroughly before you clean, especially if you have pets. I have had no issue with the brushes.krystlerb

I bought this product in May 2021; its performance was as I had hoped until August 2021 when it starts making a loud high pitched sound when power it off. Immediately, I think it's a belt, so I go online and look up parts and support on Hoover.com. After searching exhaustively and not finding a way to troubleshoot this, I emailed Hoover support and they replied back with only one option, a replacement; who can argue with that? I did as asked and sent screenshots of the machine model # and manufacturer's code as well as a photo of the cord cut off from the broken machine. I was instructed to wait for the replacement to arrive and discard of the broken machine at that time. When the replacement was in, I completely disassembled the broken machine with hopes of finding a way to repair the new one in the event it stops working. I was appalled by what I found- of the dozens of screws used to hold this machine together most were rusted. I get it, it's a carpet shampooer which means water is involved so rusted screws will happen, BUT, 3 months from purchase, I don't think that's okay. Also, the motor was rusting and there was a white gasket or belt that was obviously not fitted properly, because it looked stretched and melted to the motor. So the replacement was as expected, it worked fine until this morning when it started making that high pitched noise just like the one I purchased in May of this year. It's Oct 2021, 3 months ago it was replaced. In 6 months I have lost faith in the Hoover quality I was accustomed too. I grew up using only Hoover products to clean our floors. My dad said "Hoover never breaks." The proof was there as we used our personal Hoover machine to clean the floors of our church twice a week plus our home at least twice a week. I do not ever remember mechanical issues or replacements of those machines. The two machines I have used recently, are only used to clean the carpet in the living room of a one bedroom apartment. Both machines were treated with kid gloves by cleaning all detachable pieces on every use. I'm not sure how this will be resolved so I will gladly edit this review to include a resolution to my satisfaction when this matter is resolved. Such a disappointment.David

I spent hours reading reviews of different steam cleaners on multiple sites. I chose this Hoover knowing there were two risks based on those reviews. One, the machine would leak from the bottom. Two, it would stop working after only a few uses. I had hopes that neither of these would be the case because the good comments far exceeded the negative ones. But within 15 minutes of using the machine it began leaking profusely from the bottom. Called Hoover who confirmed it is an internal mechanical issue and could not be fixed. It does have a warranty so I can get a replacement but what confidence is there that this problem won't recur with the new one?? So frustrated. I am moving in three-weeks and need to clean the carpets for the next person – the warranty process would take past that amount of time. So now, I have to either go spend money on renting one or just get a completely different machine. Waste of time and money. I do not recommend this product, the negative reviews are accurate.Laura

The LittleGreen ProHeat deep cleaner was recommended to me by my mom for getting those little messes out of carpets and rugs. I got mine in March of this year and it was doing its job, other than a brush popping off the end of one of the hose attachments (an easy enough fix with some glue). I was happily using the machine about once a week just to touch up around the house, with the occasional bigger spot that needed a couple of tries to come all the way clean. Then, about three weeks ago, I was a little confused about why the dirty water tank didn't seem to be getting fuller. On closer inspection, I found that the hose had developed a sizable hole in one of the creases. The machine is outside of Target's return period and Bissell customer service has been completely unresponsive. For an item I got just a few months ago that is being used regularly, but not heavily, this is an unfortunate turn from being a product I liked to one that I simply cannot recommend.Lane

I purchased online & hoped to do curbside pickup. My local store didn’t have it on hand but shipping looked like it would only take a day or two so I opted to have it shipped. We’ll about 4 hours later (maybe less) it was delivered to my front door. I absolutely couldn’t believe it. What amazing service. My first trial run of the unit was on a bench. I very briefly pre-treated the surface. Then I followed the instructions to spray while scrubbing. I didn’t put a lot of time or huge effort into it. The results are really great and I’m sure they would be even better if I let the pre-treatment soak for longer than 2 minutes. After I cleaned my bench, I could not believe how filthy the water that I suctioned from the bench was. I will be using and loving this little machine a lot!!! It was really easy to assemble and get started. I think I’ll get better at judging how to pre-treat stains and how to scrub. But for a first try using it & doing with almost no effort. I Would Return This If I Could. I Started Out Good, Cleaning My Car Seat, A Spill On My Couch Etc. It Works Ok, But What I Did Not Expect Was That I Needed To Push A Lot Harder Than Expected. This Is Not A Machine That Does The Work For You. You Do All The Work, And The Handles Feel Really Flimsy. The Hose Is Also Made Of Hard Plastic. There Is No Wiggle To It. The Hose Is Also Incredibly Short, Which I Had Read But Wanted To See If It Was A Big Deal. It Is. It Also Leaks From The Bottom, So If One Is To Use This In The Car, You Either Put It In The Car, With Something Underneath, Or You Put It On A Stool Or Something Near You. Because The Hose Is Short, Both Of These Are Risky, Meaning The Bissell Could Fall Over, Get Knocked Off Etc. Not Fun When You're Trying To Clean Something And it's Already Taking Alot Of Work. So Many Negatives, I Would Not Purchase Again. The Hard Plastic Hose Tore, And I Have Only Used This Bissell A Handful Of Times. Maybe 5, And For Mostly Small Things. Not Fun. Purchased this product as an update to an original FloorMate, model # H2800, that I've had for many, many years. Have much more floor to wash now and am much older. Wanted the rotating spin-scrub brushes and the much larger wash solution tank which are an improvement over the original model. Am disappointed. The old FloorMate out-performs this newer model in the wet vacuum mode, by far, plus the newer model leaks significantly more wash solution than the older model when stationary. The tank is properly seated so that is not the problem. Thought for sure that Hoover would've gotten a handle on this issue on updated models. While the FloorMate remains a great concept, the performance of this new model is not acceptable to me. Will resort to using my original FloorMate and resign myself to filling the wash solution tank 8-10 times as opposed to 3 times but the flooring will be almost instantly dry. Will 'gift' my sister-in-law with this new model so she can wash her back porch floor with ease as she does not require the same level of almost instant dryness that I prefer.Reenie

This is my 4th floor mate, my last one the brush would not stay attached, This one I'm having a problem with the clear cover staying on. But all in all this is a good concept for cleaning and then rinsing the floor. I wash my floor and then suck up the water, then put clean water in the tank and re rinse the floor. I have 2 old doxie who pee, and this machine really helps with the clean up. I also use it on the rubber mats at my back door during the winter and rainy season. Until summer when I can take my mates outside for a go pressure washing. The company just needs to look at a better design for the brush and now the clear cover.LINDA

I bought this specifically to clean my laminate floors after a basement remodel that left a layer of Sheetrock dust is n the textured laminate. We scrubbed, mopped and everything else to try and clean the laminate, but couldn't get this layer of dirt off the floors. Bought this vac to try since we'd already tried everything else. Mixed the cleaner with a cap full of vinegar and tried an area. Couldn't believe the dirt I emptied out of the container after one pass. After this we decided to move all the furniture and do one whole room. Not only did it get all the dirt out of the distressed floors, it scrubbed the laminate back to looking new. We'll to say the least we ended up doing every room in the house because the dust had come up through all the vents. The heavy traffic areas we did twice and still were able to pull additional dirt off the floors. I read a lot of reviews and did a lot of research before buying and the main reason I decided on this one was because of the rotating brushes. They scrub the floors in both directions and suck up the water when pulling it back. I live this vac and have also used on my tile floors. It does not clean the grout, but I wouldn't expect it to, but does an amazing job on the tile. I will be making another quick pass to n all the floors again just to see how much additional dirt I can get off. Great purchase, don't be scared by the other reviews. The vac will leak a little when water is in the cleaning container and you leave it in one spot, so if storing with water in the tank, our a towel under it.Doug
