Best Steam Cleaner For Sofa (2025 Update)

Very disappointed with this item. It does clean cat messes but not dirt from carpet. Also, what is in the box is not what is pictured on the front of the box. The brush attachment shown is black with a clear front adn 3 rows of red bristles, actual attachment is all clear and has only ONE row of bristles. The attachment is also supposd to have a button to release if from the hose. There is NO button! You cannot remove it unless you pry it off with a screwdriver! The box shows a button and the instructions also show a button. You are supoosed to remove the attachment & hook the hose to the machine to run water through but you can't take the attachment off so you can't clean it. Using a screwdriver to pry it is going the break the cheap plastic attachment. I did try to contact Hoover but the bot said it was too busy and booted me off. When purchasing anything I expect to receive what is pictured on the box not some other cheap junk. Disappointed!!DawnyLouWho

Love this wet vac! We just got a new puppy and the only handheld wet vacs like the discontinued Bissell we had in the past are impossible toclean. They don’t come apart like they need to. This Hoover is bigger, but just as portable and does a MUCH better job than the handhelds. It was super easy to set up, and I can’t believe how easy it is to clean after use. The hose cleaning feature is phenomenal and is one of the main reasons I got this over the Bissell Little Green Machine. Well worth the investment to keep my carpets clean while puppy learns how to comply with socially acceptable bathroom norms. Walmart delivered promptly and had this in stock which wasn’t the case with a couple of other vendors.Jackie

I have owned this unit for 5 years after previously owning a Bissel Little Green Machine (the Bissel nosel stopped spraying after a couple years, and unit would constantly leak). About a year ago I noticed it was getting more difficult to place the handle back in the holder (the hose did not stretch as far as it used to). I didn't think much of it, but then. Few months ago I noticed that the hose tore near the sprayer. I loved using this machine, therefore I wanted to try fixing it without having to buy another one. I used hockey tape and that seemed to do the trick. Then about a month ago, I noticed that the hose has also torn right at the base (I am unable to fix this with tape unfortunately). I wrote Hoover about this, however, I am far out of warranty, so there isn't really much they can do. Now I'm trying to decide if I should buy another one or try something new. I noticed another customer also had the same problem with the hose tearing, so obviously my issue is not isolated.Kryss

This product is great. It puts the Shark steam cleaner to shame. Its very powerful and last quite a long time on just a cup of water. It will give you about 15-20 minutes of continuous usage. However, if you press the trigger sporadically, it can last about 30-45 minutes. The steam blast is loud and packs a punch. I use this thing to clean and sanitize everything from my bathroom to the kitchen (always sanitize the nozzle with bleach or alcohol after use to avoid cross contamination). Another great feature is all the attachments it comes with so you can steam clean almost anything. My only issue is the quality of some of the attachment. The small brushes and scrub pads aren't really reusable. After the first usage, they start to fall apart, especially the scrub pads which are excellent for cleaning your tub and tile. You can buy more attachments online, but its kind expensive costing 10 for 5. One reason I switched to steam cleaning was to save money on cleaning solutions, but if I have to constantly buy the attachments, eventually it will work out to cost more than the cleaning solutions. But I recently used the steamer to clean this very disgusting fridge in the apartment Im renting. I bought this tool to clean 1/2 grout tile floor grout. It worked great for the first 10 minutes, and it would great for the process, except it is not designed properly. I has a special small nozzle head, upon which small brush attachments are placed. There are three pieces, brush, nozzle, and nozzle attachment (to hook to hose or hose extension). The nozzle is made of thermoplastic, like the rest of the unit, except the pressure chamber cap, which is brass. The nozzle needed to be made of brass as well. The thermoplastic heats up, and a threaded piece (with o-ring) when at temperature cannot handle GENTLE scrubbing with the brush. (e.g. for the purpose it is made.) The nozzle fitting jumps the threads every time, once it heats up. So the unit is only good to use for about 10 minutes, before the nozzle gets soft from heat, and falls off constantly. If they made the nozzle out of brass, and the end piece (nozzle attach) out of metal, it would work great. But they didn't, so it is pure frustration to CONSTANTLY put the nozzle on again, and again, and again. This gets 1 star. It works great for 10 minutes, then its useless. If used with the larger attachments, it would probably be a great value; but I need it to clean grout. It says it cleans grout, but it really doesn't.MesaGuy

I've only used the MC1275 once to clean shower floor tile grout using the scrub pad attachment. I filled the steam chamber one time with distilled water, and the steam was ready in approximately 5 minutes. It was easy to control, but did a marginal job restoring the whiteness of the grout. The scrub pad itself came loose and separated completely from its plastic base in under 10 minutes. While the steamer worked as advertised, steaming cleaning the grout didn't live up to my expectations, and the scrub pad's durability was a major disappointment. The good – it produced steam reliably; control is easy to maintain. The bad – the scrub pad is virtually useless for scrubbing applications; steam alone will not magically clean discolored tile grout.beforemytime

My wife and i were totally happy and satisfied with your product ( the McMculloch canister steam system) We cleaned the kitchen sinks, the Granite counter tops, and ceramic floors in the kitchen and bathrooms. Originally I did think this would be a great product. Although the Bissell vacuum I purchased was also weak. This Bissell pet portable pro heat cleaner was purchased to clean a small carpet and couch. It did a fair job on the carpet at first. The second time I used it there was water leaking and the sprayer started to drip not spray. I was careful when cleaning it, each time it was emptied. As others have said it doesn't actually heat the water, you just add hot water to the tank. The sample bottles of Bissell cleaner and oxy boost were nice to try, the regular size were priced high I thought. I wouldn't recommend this product. Disappointed that this was a waste of money. Disappointed of time it took to re-clean the area where dirty water leaked out. I looked up how to fix it but it needs to go to a Bissell repair store, not convenient. I am amazed at how effective this machine is at cleaning up even very old pet stains from carpet and mattress topper. I have two chihuahuas that occasionally barf on the bed or my carpeted bedroom floor, and sometimes they will pee too on the carpeting. I of course blot up as much as possible when this occurs but it was still gross. Not bad enough that it stank to high heaven or anything but the beige carpet looked gross with lots of little spots and definitely needed a freshening. I couldn't believe how immediately this machine removes the pee and barf stains!! Even ones that were really old, even got old bile stains out of a white mattress topper-quickly and easily. Everything looks and smells great now. I really can barely believe it! I happened to get this machine second hand/used from someone's tag sale but I would pay the full price. When I first got the Little Green I used it primarily for cleaning spots on area rugs. It worked well, but always leaked every single time I used it. The suction is pretty weak for a carpet cleaner…I have even done a thorough clean of all the tubes and nozzle to make sure it was 100% clean without any blockage. After not using it for 6 months (and misplacing the water nozzle and suction brush during a move) I replaced both items through the Bissell site. I once again made sure all compartments were clean in the machine before use. Now when I use the machine the dirty water excessively leaks from the bottom (or some area at the bottom of the machine) and the leakage has gotten EXTREMELY worse. I ended up having to place the machine on a heavy duty trash bag on top of a high absorbent mat. When I use the suction, there are LITERAL BUBBLES coming from the bottom of the machine. NOTHING is going into the dirty water tank. Before anyone asks, yes the suction top on the dirty water container is closed and all items are in the proper place. So moral of the story is that instead of having dirty water in the designated tank, it is now pooling in the trash bag. After tonight I will NOT be using this product ever again. I've tried cleaning multiple pieces of upholstery and stained carpet, but it does not extract stains as advertised. The suction is good, but the way of delivering the solution is not improved.Jms

I have purchased many upholstery cleaners and all of them disappointed EXCEPT for this one! This product is easy to use, cleans better than any other product I have used/bought, and is priced reasonably. I would recommend this product to anyone. I have used it to spot clean our mattresses, couches, and carpets. On all 3 surfaces the equipment held up and worked!! I am a mom of three boys and one yorkie dog. This products WORKS!!Casie

The LittleGreen ProHeat deep cleaner was recommended to me by my mom for getting those little messes out of carpets and rugs. I got mine in March of this year and it was doing its job, other than a brush popping off the end of one of the hose attachments (an easy enough fix with some glue). I was happily using the machine about once a week just to touch up around the house, with the occasional bigger spot that needed a couple of tries to come all the way clean. Then, about three weeks ago, I was a little confused about why the dirty water tank didn't seem to be getting fuller. On closer inspection, I found that the hose had developed a sizable hole in one of the creases. The machine is outside of Target's return period and Bissell customer service has been completely unresponsive. For an item I got just a few months ago that is being used regularly, but not heavily, this is an unfortunate turn from being a product I liked to one that I simply cannot recommend.Lane

I purchased online & hoped to do curbside pickup. My local store didn’t have it on hand but shipping looked like it would only take a day or two so I opted to have it shipped. We’ll about 4 hours later (maybe less) it was delivered to my front door. I absolutely couldn’t believe it. What amazing service. My first trial run of the unit was on a bench. I very briefly pre-treated the surface. Then I followed the instructions to spray while scrubbing. I didn’t put a lot of time or huge effort into it. The results are really great and I’m sure they would be even better if I let the pre-treatment soak for longer than 2 minutes. After I cleaned my bench, I could not believe how filthy the water that I suctioned from the bench was. I will be using and loving this little machine a lot!!! It was really easy to assemble and get started. I think I’ll get better at judging how to pre-treat stains and how to scrub. But for a first try using it & doing with almost no effort. This Is Not A Machine That Does The Work For You. You Do All The Work, And The Handles Feel Really Flimsy. The Hose Is Also Made Of Hard Plastic. There Is No Wiggle To It. The Hose Is Also Incredibly Short, Which I Had Read But Wanted To See If It Was A Big Deal. It Is. It Also Leaks From The Bottom, So If One Is To Use This In The Car, You Either Put It In The Car, With Something Underneath, Or You Put It On A Stool Or Something Near You. Because The Hose Is Short, Both Of These Are Risky, Meaning The Bissell Could Fall Over, Get Knocked Off Etc. Not Fun When You're Trying To Clean Something And it's Already Taking Alot Of Work. So Many Negatives, I Would Not Purchase Again. The Hard Plastic Hose Tore, And I Have Only Used This Bissell A Handful Of Times. Maybe 5, And For Mostly Small Things. Not Fun. I loved all the attachments on this steamer. Once I started steaming, I couldn't stop! I used every attachment for different purposes. The microfiber cloth and rectangular attachment worked great on my wood floors! The small nylon brush and steel brush were awesome for grout lines! I would have given a 5 star review; however, I wasn't impressed with the window tool. We have a glass shower and it took a LONG time to clean…and didn't work well. Traditional glass cleaner was much more effective and a LOT easier. I also wish the unit came with more microfiber cloths.SJO

This cleaner does a very good job of cleaning. It heats up quickly and has very good pressure, which is adjustable. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is the locking buttons are hard to press to release attachments. I deep cleaned my entire house with this steam cleaner. It's amazing. It stands by brilliantly without leaking steam while I move things around to clean more. I find that the 700ml lasts a good while before needing to be refilled. The only draw back is that if you must refill you need to let it cool off and depressurize before adding more water. Pros you can use tap water but make sure you maintain per Dupray instructions with vinegar rinse after so many uses. I used every single attachment and I love it but I still need to get the hang of the squeegee. My favorite moment was getting the cracks between my shower surround that I couldn't get with anything else. The pressurized steam blasted out the gunk. It was disturbing and oh so satisfying at the same time. I feel better knowing that I can clean soft surfaces that I can't throw in the laundry, especially for the coming baby. 100% worth the cost, and I'm glad I chose the home over the Neat.Christy R

The actual steam part works great, no doubt about that. I've tried it for cleaning and steaming clothes, but the unit can be clunky and awkward. The cord can be a problem simply because you have to be near an outlet all the time. The unit is not super steady and balanced, so it sometimes tipped over or tilted forward like it was going to fall. There was no way to tell how much water had been used up or when it was empty until it just stopped producing steam and then you'd have to wait several minutes before you could water in it again, so that was a little annoying. It's not a bad steamer, but it definitely has some design flaws.Kimmie

This is not much bigger than dollhouse furniture if you ask me. I bought this months ago and if I had actually taken it out to use it before now, I would have returned it. I had no idea the parts were this small! Good for cleaning very very small spaces! Couldn't handle the laundry area at all. Only good for maybe a sink. Not to mention almost gave my self third degree burns 10 minutes after letting it cool off. The top says 5 minutes. I have given away all of my cleaning supplies. I only use the steamer now. In fact, just for fun I tried to do my dishes and it worked. My only problem is I need to order new brushes and such. I also have a wish list… a smaller microfiber piece with smaller microfiber pads for sinks, bathtub etc. and/or a larger sponge and a carpet attachment. I purposely let my sinks get extremely dirty to see how long it would take me to clean them. The bathroom sink took 3 minutes and the kitchen took 5. Also, if I need to change attachments in the middle of what I'm doing I use a silicone pot holder.BuddysEars

What a great little machine!!! I steam mopped my kitchen (laminate floor), used one of the small brush attachments to clean my George Foreman grill, the inside of the oven door, and all around the kitchen faucet. Everything came off so effortlessly; I cannot believe I waited this long to buy a steam cleaner. The main reason I pruchased your product was to try steam cleaning one or the cushions on my couch, where we had an unfortunate vomit accident a couple weeks ago. I tried everything else: carpet cleaner, fabreeze, warm water with vinegar, but nothing got rid of the lingering smell. Haven’t owned this long yet but it’s great for my needs. Paid full price, which was more than comparable models, but took a chance since the reviews were good. I have a two bedroom place, so it would be easy to clean everything on about two tanks. I usually just do one room at a time. Works great on floors, walls, and ceilings. (Be careful of outlets, fixtures and fans). The extensions make it easy to reach the 8 foot ceilings in the high part of the half arch entryway. Operation is really easy, cleaning the mop pads is easy, and the website has replacements available if they get worn out over time. All you need is 20 minutes and some distilled water to get started. If it breaks and can’t be repaired within the next 10 years or so I wouldn’t purchase again because I hate wasteful appliances, but otherwise it’s just what I was looking for.Barista dude

This little steamer produces a large amount of steam for the whole time that it is activated. The most useful attachment so far has been the nozzle. I used the unit to sanitize an entire mattress and box spring. I am satisfied that it was hot enough to kill all the mites and small spiders we were seeing when changing bedding. I used a small brush attachment on a few stains after I had applied some all purpose cleaner and it lifted the stains with only light brushing. Ok, so I see the reviews and I can say I personally have owned 1 of the Bissell Revolutions 2x whatever cleaning power and I was satisfied (extremely satisfied as it still runs). I have a black lab and a long haired cat and I live in the country. We have absolutely no concrete or asphalt surrounding our house, and live by the coast so our dirt is probably about 30-40% sand, so tracking mud and sand is frequent in our home. I still have the Bissell (no complaints there), however I clean mine everytime after I use it and vacuume very very thoroughly before I shampoo with my shark navigator (that I am also very very happy with). The thing with all carpet cleaners is the way you treat them. You can't just vacuume once briefly then expect the shampooer to not pick up hair clumps. Do this: vacuume the area until you think u did good, then empty the vacuume and do it again. If you pick up no hair, use the shampooer. If you keep vacuuming up hair, then keep vacuuming until you basically aren't picking up hair, then you will not have issues with your shampooer. I just got the Hoover Powerdash (I got a super good deal for $20 from a garage sale brand new in box never used so I figured why not, my Bissell isn't a pet model so this will be good to try) and am writng this review in response to all the negative recent reviewers I see just because they are having so many of the same issues with clumped hair and leaks.. First off, don't leave your shampooer with dirty water, and it won't leak. Also, don't leave solution in it or simply store the resiviour separately so you won't have leaks either. These machines mainly use gravity to apply solution, possibly with the assist of a small pump like device that might be powered by the belt rotation to feed water (which is great, never have to replace an actual pump) so if you leave solution or dirty water stored in the resiviors, your bound for issues. It's all common sense, if you expect to just leisurely vacuume and have your shampooer do all the rest, then hire a pro. If your willing to take the correct steps in maintaining and shampooing your carpets to remove grime, these are for you.
One lady stated she's owned 12 of the exact 1 that I own (which is I'm assuming for a business or a friggin mansion) so not sure what she's doing wrong but I guarantee the problem is operator error. Especially if she's having the same issues with the same shampooer that I have never seen, unless of course she's overusing them when she shoulda got a commercial cleaner for whatever she needs 12 of these things. I use mine about 15-20 times per year for the past 2 or 3 years and don't have issues. This is for residential use, if taken care of they will last. One last thing, clean your shampooer directly after use, I take mine out front and rinse it on our gravel driveway, being careful to only lightly spray the nozzle and brush assembly, keeping water away from the motor. This will ensure a clean start next session, and is a hell of a lot easier than cleaning clumped up dirt and hair that's caked up and dried solid before u even get to shampooing and even better for the machine instead of just flat out not cleaning at all and burning out the motor due to naglagence and poor maintenance. Use your head people, these are designed to clean what dry vacumes can't, not vacume up hair and remove grime at once. You need to remove a majority of the hair and then these come in and remove everything else just fine. Plain and simple.

this cleans pretty well. Much better than my big Spin Scrub Hoover. This tiny little thing has the right kind of brushroll to pick up the carpet fibers and sweep off the dirt. It has good suction. Traffic areas get matted or compressed so they need the brushroll. What makes it a problem, is that the dirty water reservoir has very limited capacity so it only cleans about a 3×3 foot area before it is too full. That is, in a high traffic area. It might clean a slightly larger area if you are only lightly cleaning invisible dirt. I think the mechanism senses SUDS and freaks out and quits suctioning, and it also let a large amount of sudsy water leak out on my hardwood floor next to my carpet, without warning. If it's not very sudsy, it won't leak so bad, just a little, when full. so i had to empty this dirty water tank 3x on a 2.5x 8 foot hall carpet with low pile. . Not cool. Definitely ONLY for small areas as i said above. I was attracted to the bigger more expensive ones of this style that have 2 brush rolls and much larger capacity, and wider cleaning path. I will probably have to get one of those, as this one won't work well for a regular sized room, even just the traffic areas.lexy

Initially bought to clean carpet from when my pup was sick and tried to hide downstairs in the only part with carpet when she wasn’t feeling well. Unfortunately, that liquid sat into the carpet without knowing for a while. This carpet cleaner took care of that and then some ! I LOVE the feature that it has heat to help dry the carpet so you can basically walk onto it right after. I’ve had my basement get water in it after a storm and I was able to also use this to suck up all the water out of the carpet. It saved us from having to replace the baseboards/carpet. I understand it is compact so it’s not really meant to clean your entire house of carpet. The bin gets full quickly with the dirty fluids. The unit isn’t heavy like a commercial use which could be an issue if you have thick/deep carpet. It’s easily disassembled for cleaning of hair in the brush. I did notice when sucking up water from the thick carpets constantly to save us from flooding it was almost as if I could start to smell the belt running hot. In that case I tried my best to wait longer between vacuuming. I’d recommend this to anyone. 4.5 stars only for unit capacity is slightly not enough for my liking.kelsey.k

I received my machine a week ago. First time using a cleaning product without adding chemical cleaning agents. Easy to use steamer includes an organizing case for the accessories.I’m very satisfied with the brio plus 400 cc steam machine.J007

My favourite use of the unit is for washing walls and washing/sanitizing floors. I like the two levels of steam as well as the nozzle that concentrates steam for really powerful cleaning of crevices and corners. The case is streamlined and controls are visible and accessible. It’s very helpful to be able to add water without having to cool/depressurize the unit. Some of the accessories are more useful than others to me. The window/squeegee tool is messy to use and i was unable to get the small tools to attach to the concentrator tip. Overall the unit fulfills the need I have for itGrammaE

Very pleased with the unit. I love how easy it is to use and that it doesn't require any chemicals just water that I can keep adding as I go without needing to stop the unit. The jet nozzle did an amazing job cleaning the grout between small tiles in both the bathroom and front entrance. I also like that it came with multiple small brush attachments so that I can have one designated for the bathroom. It did a great job on both tiled and hardwood floors, including tough stains. I didn't even need to go to the higher setting, just let it sit on top for a few seconds and then it came right up. Having designated spots for all the attachments in the carrying case is plus as well.Lace

I purchased this to clean up after a new puppy. The first thing I noticed (which others mentioned) is the “ProHeat”means nothing. The water gets cold fast. Secondly, the hose is entirely too short; the machine is very heavy and cumbersome to move- the short hose makes it nearly impossible to get a job done timely or easily. Next, it just doesn’t clean. I did have a little dirt in the dirty side but the actual look of the carpet and couch didn’t change. Finally, the suction doesn’t suck. Area is still very wet. I plan to return and schedule a professional carpet cleaner. Then will continue to spot clean as usual.mombn

Worst cleaner ever. The pet brush over sprays in all directions. And it refuses to pick up water. It just leaks all over under the machine. Absolute waste of money. I tried it a few different times hoping it was a 1 time error with the leaking under the unit. But nope. It just kept leaking. You have to repeatedly remove and reseat the dirty tank to get it to pick up any water at all. You have to pay attention and when it starts shooting water out the bottom relift and reseat again. Not worth the hassle for the clean I got out of it. Disappointed it took me over the return time frame to try it again. So now I can't return the thing. So they got to keep my money on this one. Next time I will just return it 1st time. And not keep hoping it is something I am not doing right. Don't make my mistake get something different.MamaBearC

This product is awesome! Brought it home and unpacked immediately to use on an area of carpet. Directions, setup an use were super easy to follow (the have images and text), and it is pretty foolproof. I was able to clean a pretty decent area in no time and the suction is quite powerful and pulled a lot of dirt up. There really ain’t anything negative I could say, other than the empty area of the dirty side is a bit small. It even is a compact device that ties up nicely when not in use.TJ
