I used to own a Hot Tools flat iron, but once I received this flat iron for Christmas a few years ago, the Hot Tools one was promptly donated. The best part of this flat iron is how securely it clamps onto my hair. I don't need an iron grip in order to get good tension; the flat iron does it on its own. It also heats up extremely quickly – if I spray heat protectant on my hair and then immediately turn on the flat iron, the heat protectant will not be dry before the flat iron comes to temp. I also love the multiple temperature settings. I have loosely wavy hair that holds heat styling well, and I always have the temperature set to 365° F. My sister has curly hair, so when I'm doing her hair, we either keep the temperature at 365° or increase it one setting (to around 400°) depending on the day. I also love the aesthetics of this flat iron and of Kristin Ess' entire line of tools. The soft touch is nice and grippy, and it's never slipped out of my hand. I've owned this flat iron for years, and even though I don't straighten my hair every day, I've never had an issue with anything rubbing off. This is the first, and probably only, flat iron I would recommend to anyone asking for it.Katie
I used this flat iron about once a week and loved it. The temperature heats very quickly but the downside is that it shuts off after 30 minutes. I have really long thick hair and it takes me about one hour to straighten all of it. So it’s a bit of an inconvenience shutting off after 30 minutes. I was really disappointed that after having it for only a few months, it began malfunctioning, saying “error” on the display and turning off every 10 minutes.
I have the nanoblack 3-in-one flat iron (couldn’t find it in Influenster) the full size, not the mini. It has a 9ft cord that moves with the iron (like if you’re doing curls) it’s not fixed to it, this is helpful if you’re like me have hair past your butt + it helps keep your cord from getting twisted. This iron is beautiful, it has a very soft silky feel to it is super sleek looking. It’s fairly light weight comfortable to hold. My hand wrist don’t get tired half way through doing my hair. It doesn’t have a lock on it to keep it closed but it does come with a cap you can slide over the end which keeps it closed, the instructions sheet says the cap is heat proof but I don’t quite trust that it is so I leave the iron in my sink until it cools down before putting the cap on (which fits quite snugly) hanging it up. As far as heat up time WOW this thing heats up FAST! It took less than 30 seconds for it to get up to temp! The sides are rounded so you can easily do curls without getting crease lines in them, although I haven’t quite mastered the technique of curling with a flat iron yet. One thing I was worried about was that hair would snag but after using it a few times that’s no longer a concern. My hair slides through it like silk. It has ceramic plates which are great for those of us who tend to get static hair after using hot tools (ugh the worst) It has a few different heat settings. I did have to look up how to do that since there’s no dial or specific button for that but it was easy to do. Just keep clicking the power button quickly until it’s the temp you want. When you plug it in you have to hit the power button, it doesn’t just start heating up on its own like other irons I’ve owned in the past. With all that being said I definitely do recommend this iron if you’re in the market for a new one. It came in a really nice heavyweight cardboard box with a magnetic flap, I’m sure most will throw it away but if you’re like me keep the boxes to repurpose or so your tools are more protected during travel this is a good box that won’t be crushed or damaged easily.krystal .d

It’s not a traditional straightener or curling iron so there are additional steps. First you need to fill in built in water tank with filtered water, once that has been done you turn it on and adjust the heat settings. When using this iron you need to follow the arrows on the iron in that given direction because there is a built in comb. You need to be sure to have brushed very well as the built in comb will not run through your hair properly and when I’ve had knots it’s actually pulled out my hair. When I use this as a straighter I section off small sections of hair because I’ve found it gives the best results and easier to do given the comb can get snagged and tear out hair. I pass the iron slowly down my hair and the comb goes through my hair brushing it through leaving it silky smooth and shiny and oh so straight! For curling my hair I start the same way but then place a small section into the iron in the middle of the plates and wrap my hair around the iron, rotate the iron and glide it down creating the perfect smooth, shiny waves in my hair. I like to wait a few minutes as it’s recommended to shake out my hair for beachy waves or more natural finish. Overall I love this iron and the steam feature that never actually gets your hair wet sure makes it worthwhile helping make your hair so smooth and shiny. So I am going to be bluntly honest about this straightener. It is quite heavy and almost 4 fingers wide. Steam (as most women of color know) curls hair and roots. It is near impossible to get close enough to the root with this straightener. I tried it with the comb attachment at first and it was ripping my hair out and I had just freshly brushed. Took the comb attachment off and that really made no difference because there are 3 sections of the straightener that literally grab hair and rip it. Hurt so bad. What usually takes me 30 minutes took almost 2 full hours which made no sense because this straightener is about 2x larger than my other straighteners! Passed over one piece 10 times and it would not go straight. It has a really sleek look but that's about it. One thing I can say about it that I love is that the on/off button is inside the straightener along with temperature gage! This feature is wonderful. I know a lot of women are receiving this product for free to test just like me but it is important to be honest always ladies! I am a woman of color with curly/wavy hair and I would never recommend this to other women of color. My hair smells burnt and I had to fill the water reservoir twice. Straight from the box, this straightener has a soft high-quality feel and sleek look. It’s really nice to hold due to whatever material it’s made out of. The straightener also has an auto-shut off feature, which is exactly what I needed because I always worry that I forgot to turn my straightener off. Oddly enough, due to the auto-shut off, this straightener has alleviated a lot of stress for me. Lastly, regarding design, it comes with a heat-proof nozzle, which is such a nice feature when you have a small countertop like I do and tend to burn yourself after you’ve finished straightening your hair. As for straightening, this works wonderfully. I have fine wavy hair that tends to frizz at the tips and curl. It takes me fifteen minutes to straighten my hair, but this straightener made my hair look shinier and straighter without any kinks. It is so cute and feels so fancy! It comes in a sturdy box that you could reuse and just looks so well presented. Anyways on to the actual product…\n\nThis iron feels so nice in your hand. I have small hands and i think it is the perfect size. Better yet it is coated in such a soft rubbery type material on the surface which makes it easy to grip and less likely to slip. As someone who easily burns herself on irons by having them slip this is a huge plus for me. At first I was confused where the digital display would be (before I turned it on) but once I did and saw it light up in the pretty rose gold part at the bottom I was very excited. That makes it seem very high end and fancy. Another really great design is the power button- it is on the inside of the straightening iron. How many times have I accidentally turned the power off or the heat up or down? Too many! This totally solves that issue because you can accidentally push a button on the inside. You control the heat and power with that one button and it’s very easy to understand and do. \n\nAnother thing about the design of this iron is the very cool heat resistant cover that comes with it. I haven’t seen this in any other iron and I’m very impressed with it. For storage, traveling, and every day use a cover is beyond helpful to avoid burns. There are four heat settings which are easy to change. It claims to reduce frizz which i think it does- but in the middle of this dry winter it creates some serious static. I haven’t had that issue with other irons but maybe it is just this time of year and the room I was in. Not a huge deal, just wet your fingers and smooth it down a tad bit. \n\nThe iron works wonders on all types of hair. I tried it on short hair, long hair, corse hair, fine hair, curly hair, freshly washed hair, days old hair, etc. In every case it straightened the hair in one quick pass and looked great. I included some pictures below of two people I tried it on. I don’t personally have the curling effect down great so I didn’t demonstrate that in the pictures but I was able to make curls ranging from loose to more spiral (within the width of the actual iron). \n\nOverall I am very impressed with this product. I’ve tried many straighteners and only like one other one as much as this one. I’m glad I have two I love because it comes in handy to have one to take places while the other stays home. I would recommend this to everyone who wants to straighten or curl their hair!

I am overall very satisfied with its performance and how fast it straightens my hair. The best feature of this straightener is steam option, it stops frizz, static and fly away hair which is very important for good straightener. It works well and very fast on wavy, medium thickness and very long hair leaving shiny, smooth, healthy, soft and frizz free finish. It takes 10-15 min to completely straighten my hair every time when I use it. However it works fast only on temperature 190-210 degrees. On the lowest temperature it takes longer time to straighten hair effectively. The minus for this product is when I removed water tank protective lock I struggled to put it back on one side (where is the smallest hole), it took me very long time to lock it evenly. So I advice to unlock water tank only from one side (do not remove it from both holes). I would highly recommend this product, I will continue using it occasionally.KristaZ

I was so excited to try the L’Oreal Professional Streampod Flat Iron and Curling Iron and love the amazing my hair looks and feels after using it! It’s not a traditional straightener or curling iron so there are additional steps. First you need to fill in built in water tank with filtered water, once that has been done you turn it on and adjust the heat settings. When using this iron you need to follow the arrows on the iron in that given direction because there is a built in comb. You need to be sure to have brushed very well as the built in comb will not run through your hair properly and when I’ve had knots it’s actually pulled out my hair. When I use this as a straighter I section off small sections of hair because I’ve found it gives the best results and easier to do given the comb can get snagged and tear out hair. I pass the iron slowly down my hair and the comb goes through my hair brushing it through leaving it silky smooth and shiny and oh so straight! For curling my hair I start the same way but then place a small section into the iron in the middle of the plates and wrap my hair around the iron, rotate the iron and glide it down creating the perfect smooth, shiny waves in my hair. I like to wait a few minutes as it’s recommended to shake out my hair for beachy waves or more natural finish. Overall I love this iron and the steam feature that never actually gets your hair wet sure makes it worthwhile helping make your hair so smooth and shiny. It has three heat settings as well 350 degrees, 390 degrees and 410 degrees that really does a great job on the iron for maintaining the right temperature and for my fine hair I use the 350 degrees of ironing and sometimes the 350 degrees or 390 degrees for creating waves. So I am going to be bluntly honest about this straightener. It is quite heavy and almost 4 fingers wide. Steam (as most women of color know) curls hair and roots. It is near impossible to get close enough to the root with this straightener. I tried it with the comb attachment at first and it was ripping my hair out and I had just freshly brushed. Took the comb attachment off and that really made no difference because there are 3 sections of the straightener that literally grab hair and rip it. Hurt so bad. What usually takes me 30 minutes took almost 2 full hours which made no sense because this straightener is about 2x larger than my other straighteners! Passed over one piece 10 times and it would not go straight. It has a really sleek look but that's about it. One thing I can say about it that I love is that the on/off button is inside the straightener along with temperature gage! This feature is wonderful. I know a lot of women are receiving this product for free to test just like me but it is important to be honest always ladies! I am a woman of color with curly/wavy hair and I would never recommend this to other women of color. My hair smells burnt and I had to fill the water reservoir twice. I bought this because I was looking for an alternative to the multiple layers of heat required by the keratin treatment. Keratin treatment not only requires blow drying before I put the treatment, but because the liquid itself makes the hair feel a bit damp, I would need to dry again a bit more to avoid the horrendous damage that comes with flat ironing damp hair, especially at the keratin-requested temperature of 450 degrees! Yes, I have thick frizzy hair. So i decided to skip the entire blow drying, air-dry it instead, put the treatment and go straight for this wet to dry iron… I fell in love!!! First the steaming holes facilitated the steam-release that the keratin naturally requires. Second, it did not require more pass through than my usual iron on already blow-dried hair. Third the fact that it did not reach 450 degrees did not minimize the results; in fact the results were better than I’ve ever had !!!! It was straighter, suppler and shinier than it ever was with my previous much more expensive high heat flat iron!!! Before my hair would show friz on the second day, even after paying over $100 for a professional to do my keratin treatment! But not this time. My hair felt and looked healthier, in fact someone literally asked me if it was a wig, it looked so good it seemed fake. Also, before there was a white film on my hair after the first treatment, making the hair feel stiff, a bit sticky and dull; but with the Remington, that wasn't the case: it was soft, with movement and shine; 2 dropps ofmy usual combing dry oil and I did not feel the need to wash my hair the day after the treatment; instead, waited aa week and i could have waited longer- it looked fabulous throughout. I’ve been treating my hair for almost 10 years, this is the best post keratin results i have ever experienced, and it is all thanks to the Remington. I believe these steam holes are the best things to happen to a keratin treatment. Love it, love it! As for the technical part: delivery was on time, and i love the fact the blinking light has a specific color to let you know when to use on damp hair, and when to use on dry hair. Make sure you follow the indication; online has a quick, very short and straightforward instruction manual, it is worth the 2 minutes of read. I love that you can use on damp hair as well as dry hair. Sometimes you need some extra products and they do dampen your hair so being able to use this and feeling like I wasn't doing too much damage. This "wet to dry" one really takes any residual moisture out of your hair and keeps it from frizzing or curling up after using. NOTE….I do not use it on wet hair…..I do use a hair dryer to dry it, and it's usually frizzy, curly and wild after I do. However, this Remington works a nice smooth, flat miracle on it. Ok so I bought the Le Duo 360° Airflow Titanium Styler after being absolutely BOMBARDED with IG ads for a $65 option. I've been using the same crusty straightener to curl my hair and style my bangs for YEARS (the brand name has even worn off at this point). I just got my package delivered today and did a quick and dirty trial run to curl my very long, very thick, very straight hair. First of all, it's much smaller than the straightener I already have, which will make it so easy to pack in my carryon. The fan is MUCH quieter than I had worried (you could carry a relatively quiet conversation over the volume and likely not wake up a sleeping person, very quiet), and the plates glide over my hair so easily!! Zero risk of burning my fingers too (major bonus). It took me about 15-20 minutes to curl everything, and I'm just so thrilled. With some practice, time, and effort, you can create so many different types of curls and styles. Despite how great the tool works (with some time and effort), I do regret my purchase for 3 reasons. 1. It’s not as easy, quick or efficient for those with longer hair (like mine) as it is for those with short hair.
