I've seen a couple of reviews out here warning about fakes, I bought this one from Amazon.com and it said shipped and sold from Amazon. When I took it out of the box it had the GFCI and the warnings engraved in the plastic, had several warnings on the plug and the normal sticker on the cord. My wife has been using and says it works like the last one. I would say then that the ones straight from Amazon or at least this one is the real deal. I posted a couple of pictures as I'm no expert and you can decide. I was just worried paying $90 for an iron with the possibility of it not being real. Luckily it was what it was advertised as. I absolutely loved this flat iron!!! It works so well on curly hair. BUT I recently traveled to Australia & took the iron with me. Total mistake. My expensive flat iron broke & I was no longer able to 1 regulate the temperature (my hair was fried) or 2 turn it off. I thought it may be the power converter so I stopped using it over there. Once I came back to the states it was the same thing. Heats to the hottest setting and would not turn off. Needless to say it went into the garbage. But I am on my way to ulta to get a new one. I have curly 3A hair, and I recently cut my hair short. We all know that when you cut curly hair short, it curls up even more. I have had this flat iron for 4 months now, and I love it. My hair is frizzy, thick, naturally wavy, and I like to wear it board straight. I do not have the titanium one yet to compare the two but I am interested in trying it as this one does an amazing job and it was the cheaper of the two. It leaves my hair super shiny, smooth, frizz free, and does not damage my hair at all, though my hair has no color in it so not sure how it would handle in that case. The handle does get somewhat hot as previous reviewers have stated but not to the point where I cannot use it. Best I have ever used, after several Ion flat irons. I thought each of them was best when purchased. I bought this to have as backup for when my current Ion was out of commission. I liked it so well, I relegated my current iron to backup and now use this one exclusively. First and primary improvement is that the temp control is located on the inside portion of the iron. On the older one, it was easy to accidentally hit the "off" button (located on the outside of the barrel), cooling the iron. Then had to heat it up again. This Ion heats up quickly and does the job beautifully. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

I had high hopes for this one after my small Conair had to be replaced. While it probably would have worked fine, the outside gets very hot and I was burned. That never happened with the other, where the plastic outer stayed cool/warm but never burned to the touch. So unfortunately, back it goes.

This Revlon Essentials Fast Results Ceramic 1.5 inch Flat Iron heats up fast. I like the wide 1 1/2 inch coated ceramic plates. Hair glides smoothly through the flat iron. My hair is just above the shoulder and is frizzy and wavy, not curly. I was able to get a smooth look. My other flat iron has 1 inch plates but this one is quicker to use. The biggest con for this flat iron is that the heat dial is hard to read and its numbered 1 to 30 in 5 increments. I wish it had temperatures not numbers and a digital temperature display. The instructions do not tell you what the temperature of each number represents. I assume 400 degrees is 30, but I like to flat iron at 340, so I am not sure where to set the dial. I burned my finger upon initial use as I was trying to read the tiny numbers on the dial. The flat iron heated so quickly that before I knew it my finger hit the side of the ceramic plate as I was trying to see the dial. The on off switch is easy to use and illuminates a red light when on. This flat iron turns off automatically after an hour, which is nice in case you forget. I do which it locked closed when off. A fair rating would be 3.5 stars. The flat iron works, its not fancy, I like the wide plates, for the price its ok, but I prefer knowing the exact temperature I am heating my hair at while flat ironing.gk5040

It has a really nice sleek black design and a little light that flashes on the side to let you know when it is heating up. When it is ready to use… the light will quit flashing. Heat up is super fast…like within a minute or so. I can plug my Revlon Flat Iron in and turn it on and by the time I am done drying my hair, it is ready for use. I love the tangle free swivel cord because my makeup table has several cords plugged in around it and my Revlon Flat Iron never gets tangled up like a lot of my other cords do. Pros:The Revlon Essentials Fast Results Ceramic 1.5 inch flat iron in black heats up fast like the product claims state on the package. The on/off switch and heat setting dial are tucked away so that your fingers don't accidentally bump into the controls like with some flat irons.A red light indicator lets you know that there is power to it and it's working. The ceramic plates did an okay job at straightening my naturally curly hair but I did have to make a couple of passes on some sections. Cons: Not sure if the auto shut off works. I have very crazy, poofy medium – thick unruly curly hair; the type that you pick at and it fros up. I bought it back in 2013 and it still works great (it's now 2016). Even distribution of heat, does not damage my hair and IT DOES GET MY HAIR NICE AND STRAIGHT. It's slim and has a nice curve to it so curling is very much possible with this iron. So i like to think it's a multi iron not only a flat iron. You have a 1 degree to 450 degree possible heat setting lol. It's a rotator button so you get to choose or estimate around where you want your heat to be. It's not a one time pass over your hair like it's expensive comrads like the titanium or more pricier ceramics in the $100's so you have to pass over your hair a few times to get it straight, but when you do, your hair is left soft and with sheen. ( though, I do wonder if it's because of my heat protectent + touch of oil I use that does that. I never EVER flat ironed my hair with out either or so I'm not sure if its the products or iron or BOTH lol…BUT!) this iron is on your side. Over time though it has picked up the habit of snagging at my hair but, it's a three year old flat iron veteran, it was bound to start getting old on me. This is NOT an iron you should use to go from wet hair to straight hair. You need to have dry hair, whether through blow drying or air drying because that will damage your hair, no matter what kind of iron you use. I am very impressed with this hair straighteners capabilities. I have long, frizzy, very thick hair and this straightener really does the job like no other I have owned in the past. Using this one I am able to straighten my hair in under fifteen minutes because of the large sections I can do at a time. Conair has done it right again!! This is a fabulous wireless flat iron and I love that you can charge and take it with you or use it without a cord. I have fallen in love with this flat iron and this will replace my current one. Flat ironing without a cord is so awesome!! I felt so stupid looking at my Conair Unbound Cordless Flat Iron wondering where the ON/OFF button was. The instruction manual mentioned the button, but did not include where it was located, even in the diagram of the iron. I had to ask another owner where it was. It is inside below one of the titanium plates along with the +/- button. Other than that, I found the flat iron remarkably easy to use. It is lightweight and so easy to maneuver without a cord in the way. Since I have fine, wavy hair, I started with the lower temperature for fine hair. It didn't take long for me to realize it wasn't hot enough to straighten my hair, so I increased it to the wavy hair temperature. This worked better, but it still just did a very average job of straightening my hair. Still, I would recommend it because it is so easy to use.Slurpeegal
I received the Conair Unbound Cordless Flat iron. The flat iron has a 1 inch titanium flat plate and has 4 heat settings: 280, 320, 360, or 400. I have super thick hair, so I had to use 400. The cordless flat iron comes with a charger cord, a heat-resistant pouch to store your flat iron, and comes in a rather nice looking box that latches close with magnets. The flat iron is a pretty pinkish purple color that is very subtle. The control buttons to change the temp and turn on/off the flat iron is on the inside of the flat iron. Once the flat iron is on, you can see the temp lit up in LED light numbers of the temp that you have it set up for on the outside of the flat iron. In order to use the flat iron, you should first charge it for at least 3 hours. The direction recommend charging it every 3 months to prolong battery life even if you aren't using it. On a full charge, the flat iron is supposed to last up to 25 mins and does have an auto shut off feature if it's on for 15 mins or more. When using the Conair Unbound Cordless Flat iron, I think it is definitely better than other flat iron that I have used. I love that its cordless, has 4 temp settings, and that it has an auto shut off after 15 mins. I love knowing that because its cordless, I can bring it with me to do my hair at work, if I am running late. The flat iron is just the right size to fit into my tote bag. Also, I'm a little forgetful, so I think its great that there is an auto shut off after 15 mins. I would never want to forget and melt something down. That is one of my worst fears. I would totally recommend this product to my friends and family. In the past, I would always get so frustrated because of the cords getting twisted and not being close enough to the outlet. Let me just tell you, I have had this hair straightener for over 10 years now. The plates do what hair straighteners are supposed to do, gives your hair shine AND it smoothes the ends of your hair. I had bought a T3 and it made my ends dry…. The only thing I don’t like about this hair straightener, is that it does snag your hair a bit and you do have to clean the ridges that are on the hair straightener because it does leave dead skin cells from sweat and burning your hand. I have thin, pretty straight hair. I've had, and been using, my purple HerStyler for over 3 years now. It's a great straightener! It never tugs my hair or snags any stray strands, and the heat settings are very good. I only need medium heat to straighten and a couple notches up to use it to curl my hair. That's right, I use this bad boy to curl my hair and LOVE the results!! The ONLY reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I had the straightener sitting on my white bathroom countertop while it was heating up and it STAINED my counter!! I know it may be expensive, but I think it’s a very very very good investment. This is one of my holy grail flat iron. Before, I would use the Conair flat iron which is in the cheaper side. However, since I tend to use it almost every other day, the flat iron would just continuously keep breaking down on me. Not lasting me for a year and it doesn’t even feel smooth when I run it through my hair which is one of the down side. And then I decided to try the croc flat iron which was recommended to me by my hairstylist. I had this flat iron for almost 4 years now and still working perfectly fine and new. I happen to like the things that make this a limited use kind of straightener. It doesn’t have a temperature gauge or anything like that, which is of course a nice feature. It is small, so if you have thick hair or particularly long hair it is pretty slow going with this iron. But, if you have relatively easy to style hair and just need something that will work quick- it’s really great for that. It’s great as something to travel with, but I don’t know if I would want to use this every day. The one thing I noticed was that you have to hold pretty tightly to get the heating elements to actually touch- the hinge of the two sides is not made in way where they are actually touching- you have to kind of force it. It’s a small amount of space that doesn’t seem like it would be a big deal but as you are using it you will notice you have to press that little bit.Murph

It is also a nice budget price item. It has a long six inch swivel cord which is very convenient. There is an on and off button only for the 430° flat iron and it does not have a heating temperature button that can be increased or decreased for a changing temperature. The flat iron just reaches to one heat of 430° degrees fahrenheit maximum temperature. The flat iron plates are also black which are made with ceramic and easily have a nice evenly distributed heat plates all over. The flat iron is a light steams system when touching hair to straighten and does not steam as much as other more higher-priced flat irons.mzfreebz
I got the Tresemme thermal creations 1” Ceramic Tourmaline flat iron with rapid heat recently, and consider it of average quality, with room for improvement. I like that this hair straightener is very lightweight, and comfortable in hand. Also one big plus is that the Ceramic Tourmaline coated plates fully wrap around the edges, so there is no hair tugging. Unfortunately this flat iron really does not heat up quickly, and when it does, I was worried about burning my hair, as there is no way to change the temperature, just on and off. While this is supposed to heat to 400 degrees, I feel that it did not get that hot, because I usually straighten my medium thickness, wavy hair at 250 degrees, and this one took many passes to get my waves straight. I would still consider this flat iron average, compared to similarly low priced styling tools.Angel G
