I have used this product for years. However, this particular pot has a different consistency from previous ones I've purchased. Not as creamy, so not as easy to rub between your fingers, and apply to hair. I am a little disappointed, as not a cheap product. It is usually good value for money, as only need a small amount. I will have to see how it goes, but may need to return to selmarlykins

This thickening spray is amazing! I have not tried this as a heat protectant spray, I’ve only used this as a hairspray for my curls. I can’t attest to whether this protects as a heat protectant spray, or whether this thickens hair. I’ve worn my hair curly and I already have thick hair! I will say this clumped my curls beautifully!!! The smell is amazing, I got compliments every-time I’ve used this spray. I plan on using this as a heat protectant spray in the future. I think this would be amazing for curly girls who wear their hair in a ponytail or wants their curls to clump! It kept definition in my curls when paired with a gel and leave in. Just got this a couple days ago from #sephora couldn’t hardly wait to try it. I used a generous amount, in sections, on my damp hair (right after the shower….wash day) and let my hair air dry half way, then followed the rest by blow drying it with my on low force, but medium heat. Oh. My. Gawwwww. This stuff is amazing. My hair felt, looked, AND stayed “thick”! It wasn’t sticky or crunchy like most thickening sprays and it smells soooo good. It actually made my hair extremely soft and manageable. It looked healthier, shinier, just overall……beautiful. Now I completely understand why #oribe had products that are a bit pricy; they’re literally top of the line. If you’re a thin haired girl like me….go get this! I heard other reviews and videos rave about this mousse and had to try it. I have to say, they are right. I have fine texture, low porosity natural hair. My hair is short, but when stretched the back comes to my collar bone and the front comes to the end of my nose (to give you a reference). I get good definition using a gel, but this product really defined my hair, and I had more body. Body is a problem for those of us with fine hair. My curls lasted 4 days, especially in the top which is longer. My hair is shorter on the sides and since I sleep on my side the definition fades sooner. I still had a little definition on my sides day 4, but the top still had curls. The first time I used it I only used a moisturizing deep conditioner and the mousse. It did great defining my curls, but left my hair very dry. The next time I used a moisturizing deep conditioner, leave-in conditioner, a moisturizing gel, and a sealing oil with the mousse. Sounds like a lot, but this is the process I have to use every wash day to keep my hair moisturized for 3 days. I did not have any problems with dry hair at all this time. This mousse has become part of my weekly regimen.Breezinby

I have thick heavy waves/curls. The product worked well when I used it with a leave in conditioner. The day I was in a rush and didn't put a leave in my hair was course and felt dehydrated. It doesn't help to clump your curls on it's own, but was easy to style and mold my curls with my brush. Dried quickly and smelled good. I didn't get a chance to use it for a long period of time to see the overall quality. The bottle untwisted just enough while under my sink and spilled. Luckily I had it in a container. The bottle easily untwist. You should keep the product right side up and make sure it doesn't knock over. Unfortunately it's the bottle quality that keeps me from buying this again. I would suggest checking The Doux’s channel on YouTube to see how she uses the styler depending on the length of the hair. I have a short natural tapered cut and the mousse works best went I finger twirl the top and front. I love the slip and the shine. Even though the hold is soft – it survives my sweaty workouts. As long as I don’t touch my hair and let it air dry – it will last 5-6 days with minor touch-ups. This has become my sole and primary styler!GeeMilli

I wanted a hair product to use as a final stage after using a pre-styler and blow-dryer once I get out of the shower. I tried many and often faced the same issue, I get my hair just the way I like it with plenty of volume and then whatever product I use would usually lessen that fullness. This truly is AMAZING! After my stylist told me about this product, and after reading many amazing reviews about it, I decided to try it out. And WOW, this product delivers! I tried bedhead matte separation wax, the Salon Guy Clutch XL, Baxter clay pomade, hanz de fuko sponge wax, hanz de fuko claymation, hanz de fuko quick sand, Mr pompadour paste, Blumaan, Kevin murphy rough rider, mitch reformer & mitch matterial (which I think are both really great pre-stylers). My very favorite so far was the Kevin Murphy Night Rider. It's a fantastic paste, matte finish, phenomenal hold. BUT you have to be careful not to apply too much because it can become a bit heavy and shiny the next morning. Now this stuff, the moroccanoil texture clay is on another level. It gives a ton of volume, a ton of texture, a totally matte finish, like, you can't even see you even have anything in your hair. It gives this tiny "grit" to your hair, a bit of a lived in look, and the hold is amazing! It holds super well, and yet, it feels like there is nothing in your hair. It also thickens your hair.. So if you have medium – fine hair like me, you'll look as if you had twice the amount of hair on your head! LOL It's a clay, and yet, it's easy to scoop out, and it breaks down in a very nice, creamy way, making it very easy to spread through your hands and apply to your hair. Some clays and waxes are difficult to apply to dry hair because they tend to pull the hair as you do.. This here, thanks to its creamy feel once warmed up, goes into the hair like butter! You'll feel a bit of a gritty feel as you apply.. But that's the effect this clay gives, that second day lived in look, but yet very natural. The Hold is truly amazing in it! Because it's light, and perfect for fine hair as it swells the hair, you can layer this product for more hold. Start with a little amount, and add a little more if needed. It's super versatile.. You can get a soft hold and nice texture, with just a tiny amount, all the way to a lived in, messy, texturized look, with a super strong hold, depending on how much you use. This does the same thing as their texturizing spray, but, with a strong hold! The smell is a unique, very clean and fresh smell. It's not overpowering, it's very light, and smells really nice! I don't even need to use texturizing powder anymore, this does everything LOL You can also use a little bit as a pre-styler, for great volume and body. And because it has argan oil, it also acts as a heat protectant.. Honestly, it's truly an amazing product.. I'm glad I decided to try it out.. Let's start by saying that I've tried lots of putties, clays, gels, and sprays on my hair. My hair can be heavy in one area and thin in others so it will be difficult to manage at every chance it gets. However, this Clay is where it's at I'm telling you. This stuff I will put a little tiny bit in my hane maybe a dime's worth no more than a nickel, because now than a nickel would be overkill. And it just seems to work like magic. This is my hair savior! It smells great. It even makes me look great! It's an awesome product. I recommend it to anyone who has hair, guy or girl. I was gifted this product from Color Wow. I have thin straight hair so volume is elusive for me. My hair is also color treated and I notice other volume and or texture sprays can dull my color. This product gives me a volume boost with just a finger tussle that doesn't dull my color and makes me feel like there is more body in my hair. I really like that it isn't sticky because my hair gets tangled easily. It has a good hold but does feel a bit like hairspray when it dries. I had been looking for a new hair shine spray. I have medium/dark brown hair with blonde highlights, and my hair is very dry and damaged from using heat and dying/bleaching in the past. I’ve had my hair colored in just about every color you could think of so my hair is very damaged. It’s getting way better now but a few months ago it was completely unmanageable. I like using shine sprays because they make your hair so much healthier and glossy looking. My current shine spray is Garnier Brilliantine Shine Glossing Spray. It was only 7 dollars, has great ingredients, and gives amazing shine without looking or feeling greasy. I had been thinking about getting this matrix shine spray for awhile. Ulta was having a huge sale on matrix products so I used that opportunity to pick this up. It was only 10 dollars so I got it half off. I usually LOVE matrix products, and even though they’re pricey they tend to be worth it especially when you have more problematic hair. This was a disappointment. First of all the smell is terrible. Usually their products smell great but this literally smells like those lemon hand wipes you get in little single packets. It’s not unbearable but definitely not a good smell especially for a hair product. Nobody wants their hair to smell like lemon scented cleaning supplies. Good thing the smell doesn’t last because it’s not a good one for a hair product. Now, I could put that behind me if the product worked well but it didn’t. It literally didn’t add any shine or gloss to the hair. It didn’t feel heavy or greasy or sticky on the hair, but it was basically like it did nothing. Since I got this half off I wasn’t TOO mad but still disappointed. I’ve tried a lot of matrix products and this was the first one that had been disappointing. Definitely don’t recommend. Here is how you use it, after detangling your hair, and a generous amount to your hair. If you add too much your hair won’t look super curly. I have a very thick ponytail however my hair is super fine so my hair is usually limp and lifeless. It has been very difficult to really do anything fun with my hair until I tried this powder! Now, I have incredible volume and even I can make my hair look like I came from the salon. For starters, the product is a super fine powder and a very little goes a long way. My first use I really overdid it and ended up wasting a bunch of product. It dispenses nice "puffs" out of a controlled nozzle dispenser so it's easy to put right where you need or want it. It smells very light and heavenly fresh too. I would describe the smell as clean. Even though the powder itself is white, it becomes translucent on the hair and can not be seen. The volume and texture it adds is really incredible! It lifts the hair right at the roots and manages to keep it up all day! If you swish your hair around with your fingers, it lifts it up even more. It's really amazing when you have to go right from a day look to a night look. At first, I thought it was a bit too heavy, but I realized that I was using way too much product. Once I got the amount right, my hair felt (and looked) incredible. This is an absolute MUST if you put your hair up! It just gives your hair that gorgeous, voluminous and lifted look that you see all over IG. It aslo helps hold the style too while still being able to move your hair. No stiffness at all. I'll also add that I'm really pleased at how well this will wash out of my hair. It doesn't build up a residue or make your hair feel gross. It simply washes right out. This is my first time trying Verb and I am happy to report I love this hair plumping product! I've tried a bunch of different hair volumizing products. My biggest complaints are that many of them have a strong smell, leave a grimy feel on your roots or they just don't work. I've even found some I really like but the smell gives me a headache. Not Verb!! There is almost no discernable smell and it works fabulously! I went for light volume today, nothing over the top. I pumped a little Verb Volume Texture Powder on the underside of my roots and zuzzed it in. Then added Verb's Volume Dry Texture Spray to the rest of my hair. I finished with an Aquage's detailing cream just to smooth my flyaways a bit. I'm set on repurchasing this fantastic hair duo! Full disclosure: I got this product free in exchange for a review. But I will purchase this product when I’m out. Here’s why: it smells clean and fresh without being an overpowering scent. The pumps dispenses the right amount of product preventing accidentally over applying, so my hair doesn’t feel gunky. It adds natural looking volume without leaving white residue, and without using an aerosol, and my hair doesn’t lay in an odd way that can happen with hair spray or texture putty. I’m including two pictures. The first one is using it on the right side of the picture, and the amount of volume my hair still had on that side after 12 hours. It also helped second day curls hold their curl on that side, whereas the left side was flat by the end of the day. The second picture is me using the texture powder on fishtail braids, and it worked so well to add volume to make those cute puffy braids I’m always seeing on Instagram. I love the got2b line. I've used their products for every type of hair style- really short, long, bob, blonde, color treated, etc. I would always recommend them to people, no matter what type of hair they have. This product works great for my shag/ pixie-bob cut. It's light weight and helps create texture. My only complaint is that I sometimes feel like i have to use a lot of the product on just washed hair in order to get that "second day" look. I am so tickled! A different brand stopped making my only go-to product. It was discontinued and I had just found it last year! I’ve gone everywhere trying to find something that is similar to it in anyway. I bought this I don’t know how many weeks ago but I did not open it or use it till tonight. If you expect this to be like Living Proof Volume Blast it's not even close. I tried this in the store with my husband as my witness. Had LP on one side and Lanza on the other. He said my hair held volume with LP and nothing with Lanza. Also, I could run my fingers straight through Lanza which would be a good thing, only if it actually provided volume. Was hoping it would have been somewhat similar so I could have taken advantage of the sale but DID buy the Weightless Volume Gel by Lanza (it's my husband's favorite EVER) and the stronger hairspray and then got the LP that wasn't on sale. Still love the Lanza line and try it out because you can always return or exchange if it doesn't work for you.Cowtown Chic

I really enjoy this spray. I use it all night and spray all over the bottom of my hair as it gets quite knotty busy the end of the day. By the morning my hair smells nice and the ends are not frizzy. I like the spray formula because it uses oil but being a spray you can titrate the amount. The smell is nice and I don’t feel like it weighs it down but also works very well at the same time. In the instructions of how to use this oil, it says to work it though hair after a blowout. Very often, I blow out my hair with the Dyson Airwrap round brush and self-grip rollers. Self-grip rollers have a tendency to pull at the hair and break off small strands. I definitely think this oil is great at smoothing those strands after the blow out. You don’t even have to use a full pump for the oil to do that job. With either 1 full pump or less, the oil smooths the hair without ruining the blow out or making it greasy. My hair gets greasy QUICKLY after washing, so I really enjoy that I can use this oil for blow outs & it doesn’t affect the time in which my hair usually starts getting greasy. Also in the instructions, it says you can use this oil in your hair before washing. I’ve done this a handful of times now. I find the oil dries down in a fair amount of time, so I like that I can douse my hair with multiple pumps, put it in a pony tail, and after about an hour, it looks normal enough to do do things that I don’t have to look really impressive for (ex: errands). However, I notice when I completely oiling my hair up with this, it’s rather drying in comparison to other oils. For instance, I also use the Shea Moisture 100% Argan Oil, which is much cheaper, and it gives my hair that smooth oily feel that I aim for prior to washing. With this oil, I find that myself going back and re-oiling my hair due to the dry feeling. Again, I’ve only used it as a prewash a handful of times, so I have NOT noticed yet that the dryness is a lasting affect after I wash. I haven’t tried this yet on wet hair. Overall, it’s great for blow outs since a small pump goes far and it is light weight. When using larger amounts, I notice the hair feels more than dry than oily, and I worry this will eventually affect the dryness of my hair. I feel that I can find a cheaper oil to smooth my hair after blowing it out.PastaPrincess69

This was so extremely disappointing, I even tried to give it the benefit of the doubt and used up the entire thing before giving my review. I honestly love so many Ouai hair products, their detox shampoo and scalp scrub are some of my absolute favorites! Unfortunately this was such a dud, I honestly cannot believe how many positive reviews this has received. First thing, the smell is atrocious. I like nice smelling products, and even if its unscented or a mild scent I usually don't mind but THIS! I could not get over the scent, its a very woody/herb/patchouli scent and its STRONG. Next issue I had with this is that it didn't really hydrate my hair, if anything it felt more dry after, it didn't really absorb and just sat on the hair looking wet/oily. Some hair oils I love for example are the Olaplex and Gisou hair oils!hailey.p

i got this in a free gift set of a lot of minis & samples and i didnt expect much from it at all; i have used many different hair oils before and never really "clicked" with any of them. i also didn't expect to even remember half the items i got in this sample kit because there were so many. this stood out enough for me to take a picture of the little sachet before throwing it out. i thought i accidentally used too much but even with me using a lot it didn't weigh my hair down at all. in fact it actually gave me more volume, somehow, and my hair usually gets flat & greasy quite quickly. it smells so nice and the scent is subtle but lingers all day. it made my hair look so glossy & thick. i will definitely be purchasing the full size soon.aj

First started using this while at the salon and purchased it there. Ive used it for years. They havent been able to get it lately. I was happy to find it on EBay and at a better price. Using just a little of this product gives me the hold I need without making my hair feel gunky. For this reason a tube lasts a long time and is worth the price. I purchased this recently to soften and nourish my dry 4c hair and I was pleasantly surprised. A little goes a long way and it left my hair feeling rich, moisturised and manageable. It has a fluffy and buttery consistency. I bought this on the basis of all the positive reviews. I am so disappointed. I know things don't work for all hair types, but given what this is made from, and all the people with 4C hair who are raving about it, it should surely have worked on my 3A/B type hair, long with two curl types. It does absolutely nothing for my hair. Nothing. I washed my hair and used this and a sister product, and the following morning my hair was as dry as anything. Dryer than if I'd just washed and conditioned. Obviously it must relate to my hair type, as others have raved about it, but I just don't see why. Will stick to Cantu in future. So I really didn't pay attention to this company because I wasn't apart of their customer demographic. Most of 2020, I was battling cancer and lost all of my hair. Yes, Im free of it now and actually have some hair on my head again. I was spoiled with 3 years of get up and go hair. I literally owned one bottle of shampoo, retightened my roots 2 to 3 times a year and my anthem was, "I woke up like this." So dealing with loose hair felt foreign to me. More so than it feeling foreign were the PTSD flash backs of me trying to style my loose natural hair. I admit it, in the past I wasn't as accepting of my natural curl pattern. I wanted big 3b curls while God blessed me with 4a/c curls. So the thought of going back to wet sets, twist outs and tons of heavy gel scared me. What impresses me the most with Mielle's products, including this Curl Defining Mousse w/ Hold, is that it is so easy to style my hair. You would think I could just slap anything into my short 3c/4a hair (chemo curls) and it look good. Noooo, this theory was quickly disproven especially when trying other brands. I picked up a sample packet of the Curl Defining Custard at the local Dollar General and I was hooked ever since. Although, The Curl Defining Custard is perfect as is with the shine, definition and hold, I still felt it wasn't soft enough as I wanted. When the bulk of Covid is over, I want hands running through my hair. 😉 LOL It was suggested by Mielle staff to try the Brazilian Curly Cocktail Curl Cream under it. Yes, my hair was still shiny and defined and now it was soft. That combo made my hair super curly also. Its just that my hair took forever to dry and it was a lot of effort to put through my hair. That leads me to this Curl Defining Mousse w/Hold. O-M-G, this is truly wash and go hair with this product. I just run in through sections and I'm done. It dries clear and without flakes. My hair doesn't even have to be soaking wet. It almost looks like I wet set my hair on perm rods. It has the shine of setting lotion and the soft feel too. But my hair has hold and bounce. I just stocked up on this product because I haven't seen it in stores yet and this current price is looking really good. With products like these I don't think I want to go back to wearing locs. In addition to how well the products work, can we talk about the packaging. There are pumps for most of Mielle's products and you can easily lock them closed. Amazing!Dany J.

This is the defining mousse of all mousses! The pomegranate & honey curl defining mousse is EXCELLENT! A must have for all natural ladies & girls! It’s light, smells great, and gives high definition to all your curls with a soft hold (No crusty crunch). There’s no need to wonder if this is the right product. I love this product🙌🏽🥰. The journey for finding the right natural hair products has been a challenge, but I can truly say this product does its job. It works, I did a Aztec with Apple cider vinegar clay mask. After washing it out I added the rice water drops with Mielle Babassu & Mint deep conditioner. I then followed it up with Rosemary Strengthening Shampoo, and added the White Peony Leave in Conditioner. I selection my hair in four twisted it up and slept in a satin cap. The next morning I reapplied water with mist water bottle, the pomegranate/honey defining mousse added two other gels that’s not in the Mielle collection to get my curl define look. I say all this to say even though I substitute other products in, over all the main products were Mielle. I just bought more products this time I will use all Mielle products and see what the outcome will look. -Thank you 🙏🏽MielleCK

I use three pumps on my mid length hair, I love that you can use this from your roots to your ends and it doesn’t make your hair greasy. My hair is generally quite course however my hair is so soft after blow drying and straightening. The smell is divine. I may even start buying this in bulk!samwest

I didn't really like this leave in conditioner. It made my hair greasy and weighed down. I tried using it while wet, dry, and after styling. Even when only using a little bit if product I still got the same results. If you're someone who has medium thickness hair, this might not be the product for you.melissa.p

My hair is straight and fine, considered "normal" I guess, but I do have days that it's a little more dry. I love this conditioner. I get the softness without a lot of extra weight. And I do feel like I have less breakage. I also use the shampoo and have added them to my rotation. I have Big Sexy for volume, this for softness, and another brand I use once a month or so to clean everything off my hair. Love this, and will keep buying it!megan.h

I’ve used a lot of clays in the past, and have struggled to find one that works for my thick semi wavy hair. This one however is great. It’s easy to get out, easy to breakdown and goes in the hair really easily. I tend to apply it to slightly damp hair, but it doesn’t affect the styling or application at all. The hold is really good and lasts all day and is easy to re style as needed. The only thing that’s stopping this from being a 5 star product is the scent. It’s vanilla-coconut, and although it’s good it’s not my preferred scent. I’d rather it be a cologne or fresher type one. Don’t let that stop you buying it though. It’s a great clay that works really well for thick hair.Andy

Very good clay. A bit difficult to get into the hair unless it’s applied on damp hair. A sea salt spray applied before the clay, as a pre-styler, works well to give you volume. Warm the clay up (emulsify) well in your hands before applying to hair. You definitely need a shampoo to wash it out. Would l buy it again? I don’t know. Maybe, maybe not. Have to think about that, because, l have another one that l think is a bit better.Winston B.

This has become my favorite hair clay lately. It is a heavy clay that smells like coconuts and vanilla. I rub it between my palms until it is invisible and tacky and apply it to my hair starting from the back. It creates such control for my thick wavy hair. It leaves my hair with a natural shine and I have noticed that about an hour after styling, this product will actually improve the texture of my hair. It is such a cool effect that after leaving this product alone for a bit, my hair just looks even better than when I stopped styling it. I highly recommend this product if you have thick wavy hair.john.v

I have been searching for an air dry styling product for my fine, wavy, short hair. I've used mousse, but it dries crunchy and weighs down my hair. Bought this to try, and OMG, it's amazing! I used a small amount throughout my hair, scrunched/styled it, and checked back on it a half hour later. It looked slightly damp, but when I ran my fingers through it, it fluffed up and had volume, with no wet look. No crispiness whatsoever, just soft, and a light hold. I was AMAZED. Omg okay, these are the best hair products I have ever tried, and believe me I have tried a lot! My hair is long, frizzy, and wavy but not the nice kinds of waves, the waves that are messy and just frizzy strands. I bought the medium hair shampoo, conditioner, mask, leave-in conditioner, and air dry foam and I loved everything so much that I went ahead and bought the hair oil and curl cream. First of all, my hair is VERY soft after each bath and I noticed it has gotten smoother over time, and in great shape. One night, a stranger came up to me and told me I love your hair. I have 2a / 2b waves that are medium/thick and very frizz prone. I've been using this product throughout fall and winter, which is not my frizziest season (that's summer), so I can't comment on the frizz taming factor. However I can tell you that it's a great product for creating wave formations in the hair without any residue or scalp irritation. Previously I was using Oribe Curl Control, but I noticed that my scalp was always irritated, so I tried this. It works really well. I always spritz on the Ouai Leave In before scrunching in the foam, as they have the same scent and the leave in gives my hair some shine. Neither of these products are super moisturizing or great for dryness, so I always scrunch in some oil or taming cream when my hair is mostly dry. I recommend this!DesiWoman
