20 Best Summer Foundation For Oily Skin (Feb 2023 Update)

Shade Almond. First day trying this. It’s actually really good!! I’m normal to oily skin (T-zone area oily only & some forehead) I used a primer water spray, then a Matte primer (makeup revolution niaci.) elf hydrating concealer, & Laura mercier powder! I LOVED that combo! I definitely recommend this BUUUUT I did use like 5 pumps. I had to use 3 pumps then wait to set a few second then add 2 more pumps. I don’t mind, but it does claim medium coverage, so I can’t be too mad. I just wished I used less pumps. Also, I use a sponge but also used a brush to tap into my skin (cheek area only) then back to bouncing with my beauty blender. Hope this helps. For ref I got shade: Almond and it’s like 95%-97% match. Really good! I definitely rec this product. It was matte but nice and soft. It maybe reminded me of Fenty (with ‘more pumps tough).. for REFERENCE I also use 1.02 (warm olive) in smashbox, light 45 Neutral for KVD beauty, Light 22 N or 20S for tarte FT foundation, and 140 & 150 mix from Fenty. I also use shade Fair in LA Girl, Fair beige 008 in Catrice, & in Maybelline FIT Me foundation I use shade 125 & a liiiiittle bit of mix of 128. I Hope this helps. I ran out of my usual foundation and I saw this online discounted for a sensational price so I figured I'd try this since I've tried other products from this brand previously with remarkable results. When it arrived the packaging was simple ( which I like ) and arrived in perfect condition. It is a pump, which is another plus because you can control how much comes out. I ordered the shade honey and it is exactly how it appeared in the try it on feature on the brands website. Application was simple enough I used my foundation brush using only a little at a time. And O M G !! The coverage was fantastic, definately there's a mattifying effect. In coordination with this I used my Too Faced Born This Way concealer in sand. I went about my day working outside and such.and when it says 24 hour that is no joke. I've tried many foundations but this one is a definate keeper! Love love lovesharron.n

For years I’ve been going only for the pricier foundations thinking I could never achieve the look I wanted from a grocery store foundation. (I know, it sounds terrible but I had never been able to find a color/texture I liked and it always ended up looking fake and cakey). Honestly I think it is mainly because you cannot try the foundations at those stores and you don’t have the convenience of color match, but that’s a whole other subject. Revlon Colorstay Foundation is medium coverage. It has a liquid but dense texture at the same time (I know, explaining textures is difficult), it is not heavy and it blends easily. At the coverage level, you can put several layers without it looking "cakey" and you can turn it into a high coverage base. You can blend it with a sponge or brush and the result is still beautiful. It has SPF 20 sun protection, but in my experience it does not generate flashbacks, so I have been able to use it in makeup at night and the flash in the photos has not made my face white.Every time I use this base I can say that it lasts all day. I can apply it early in the morning, and at night when I go to remove my makeup it is still there, the places where it disappears the most are in my oily areas: nose, cheekbones and forehead, but it does not disappear completely.Usually I have to touch up with my powder 3 or 4 hours after applying the foundation because the shine and oiliness of my skin begins to come out, so if you have oily skin, it is not recommended that you use it. I got this product on sale for around $27, making this a steal! I think $40 is a bit too high, though. My first thoughts on the product is that looks really good! Due to the limited shades, I was worried ‘light’ would not fit my undertones, but it worked pretty well. Despite this saying it is full coverage, I think it’s more medium as my skin still shows through (which I want). It’s very lightweight and I love that it is matte, since I’m prone to be more oily. I adore this foundation/spf moisturizer!!! I don’t understand people who say it’s cakey- then don’t use half the tube!! I use quite a bit myself and it’s never been cakey, and I use my fingers- it seems the warmth of my fingers blends it perfectly!! I’ve gotten so many compliments on my skin after using this! ONLY after using this! I’ve used other products before but this seems to give such a flawless and natural finish that people think I have flawless skin! I fell in love with It Cosmetics foundation, but was seeing some break outs. Once I switched to the oil free version- no more breakouts!!! This is full coverage, which is great because I have Rosacea. I use a flat top brush to apply and set it with powder. Make sure you wash your face and moisturize before applying. Let your moisturizer settle as well! Because this is a full coverage foundation, I wipe a little off around creases in my face and set with translucent powder. Dermablend was recommended to me for full coverage foundation that wouldn't break me out and it was drying and flakey- this stuff is liquid gold. You've got moisturizer and SPF 50! (You still need to moisturize before- and if you see flakey spots pat on some lotion and let it sit). Perfect color match, my skin is so fair, I was glad to not have to bronze my body for once to match my face.Ally

I have tried so many foundations: Giorgio Armani, Mac, Estee Lauder, Clinique, the list goes on. Let me tell you, this is my all-time favorite foundation! I am 39 years old with combination/oily skin. I feel like this foundation can be worn by all ages, and that is part of why I love it so much! My skin is beginning to show fine lines, and I want a foundation that I can wear as I get older, and that won't age me. This is my foundation that ticks all the boxes. Whenever I wear it, it looks like I have a filter on my face! I LOVE that this foundation has vitamins in it and doesn't contain oil or alcohol. My perfect shade is N2. I pair this with the matching True Match pressed powder also in N2, with the matching concealor. You've got to try this! If you are on the fence about trying it, don't be. You need this! If I could rate this 4.5-4.7 stars, I would. If you're looking for a nice dewy foundation that has buildable coverage, gives you a nice glow, isn't heavy, feels like your skin, and is affordable, this is it. The hype is valid. I tried the Milani conceal + perfect 2-in-1 foundation and concealer but it has a thick formula, dries up like a mask and ages you if you have mature skin. I don't love this like Too Faced's Born This Way but I was on a budget and I wanted to try out foundation I could wear on a day to day/informal basis. I would say this is a dupe/close enough. I even did a sweat test with it and it didn't evaporate (though I used Revolution Makeup's Sport Fix Setting Spray and that will last through a hurricane; see my review on that). I'll one day do a sweat test and do half L'Oreal Infallible Pro Glow foundation and Too Faced's Born This Way when I can.sandra.s

I have tried dozens of foundations and this is easily the longest wearing product on me that I’ve ever used. My skin is medium/neutral (warm) and Tan is perfect for me, especially in Summer! It feels pretty nice and light on my skin and blends easily. While you can definitely tell I’m wearing makeup close up it gives a pretty natural albeit radiant finish and does not look cakey at all even where I layered it for heavier coverage. I have combination skin. This foundation was AMAZING on my dry patches and really helped those areas not stand out (unlike most other foundation formulas I’ve used) AND I didn’t have any problems with the oilier areas on my face. I wore a mask for about an hour, blew my nose several times, and wiped my face pretty well after meals all without my makeup getting worn down and coming off throughout the day. First foundation I’ve ever used that doesn’t get worn down where my glasses rest on my nose. I can’t believe I’ve been wasting my money on much more expensive foundations that don’t work nearly as well on my skin. I definitely plan to keep using this foundation from now on!ben.r

I used to have this on my MUST HAVES list of my make up routine back when I just started wearing makeup. I would still have it on my list if my fine lines and wrinkles weren't creeping up on me. 2.5, 3 is just honestly too generous. So first I like the shade but it does oxidize something terrible. Thankfully I use the white LA girl concealer which will highlight anything no matter how orange so whatever it was still fine. Second, I am a dewy girl, a balmy babe, I like to look WET however I still had to break out powder and double spray for this foundation! It looks…fine. But for being just a few hours into my day it could be so much better. I assumed that even though it was dewy, it would dry down with a luminous finish. It does not dry down at all. The texture it is when you first spread it onto your skin is the same texture it will be 30 minutes later. In the age of mask wearing this foundation should be on the bottom of your list, not transfer proof. not even a suggestion of longevity. I bought this #maybellinepressedpowder because of all the great reviews and I typically like #maybelline products. Overall I think this is a fine powder; it's very smooth, the color is perfect, and there packaging is nice. However, it's a little more sheer than I wanted. I've tried it moist and I tried applying it with a thick Kabuki brush but could not get the coverage I wanted. Don't get me wrong, I was not expecting #lancomedualfinish results, just a touch more than this product could provide. I feel the best use for this powder are touch ups, but use the #revlonvolcanicroller first so the powder won't cake in oil. The foundation has a creamy consistency, quite similar to the Double Wear from Estée Lauder although its finish is completely different. The packaging doesn't come with a pump and honestly I thought that that was a plus, because I like to apply very small amount on each layer and I'm not sure I would be able to control the amount that we'll with a pump. The smell of the foundation is quite funny. It smells almost like paint. The smell goes away after the foundation is set. The coverage of this foundation is medium to full, but you can easily make it into a sheer coverage as well. It all depends on how much you apply and how many layers. I have lots of blemishes and some texture/enlarged pores and I find this foundation to not accentuate any of it. It blends well on the skin and gives me a really beautiful natural matte finish. It doesn't transfer after it dries. I like to pair it with the Strobe Cream in Pinklite and the finish gets slightly more luminous and natural but not greasy. I apply one very thin layer of the foundation with a brush and then I reapply it only on my problem areas where I have more hyperpigmentation and it covers everything without looking heavy. I have to mention that this foundation looks beautiful in person but even better on pictures/videos. I love this foundation and I highly recommend it! It's one of my go to foundation of the moment. I've always used drugstore brand powders as I have always had a fairly even complexion and despised how cakes and gross liquid foundation is. But now at 36 I'm noticing powders tend to settle more into fine lines and make my face look drier than it needs to. This foundation leaves my face feeling so light, but moisturized and really helps to minimize the smaller stuff that was aging me with the powders I was using. I picked color N40 and it blends perfectly with my skin tone. I tried it on when I got out to the car and my husband was like "Wow! It looks just like your skin, but I don't like that it covers up all of your little freckles." LoL. The coverage is definitely buildable. This foundation is the only one I'd use without a primer or setting powder. It doesn't need it, and I like that it's optional. I feel like other brands rely so heavily on setting foundations with other products to get you to buy more stuff. This (and Mac pro longwear concealer) is like professional-grade makeup. Tried and true. 2. On my wedding day, my MUA and I planned to use either EL double wear or too faced born this way, depending on how my skin was feeling. The day came and both products were emphasizing all my texture and/or sliding off my face. I literally ran to my room and found my old bottle of Studio Fix and wore it. Best decision ever. Did not budge and lasted all day. Full coverage yet natural. 3. This covers scars. I can spot conceal with this foundation and it blends into my skin so well. I also buy a lighter shade as concealer in the summer. 4. It's not finicky. Again, you don't need to (but can) use primers and setting powders. It works with most other products (except for silicone-based primers which makes it dry out and oxidize and can separate). I don't know why I ever stop using it but i always have a bottle. I've tried loads of different foundations in the past – even some that were meant to treat spots as well as provide coverage for uneven skin – but this is the first one that I have tried that does not cause my skin to break out. I was hoping this was the one but sadly not. I'm light-med neutral skin and could not get a color match. Either too pink or too orange. Oil breakthrough at the 4 hour mark. Made the foundation separate and oxidize in those areas. Even after powdering. It emphasized texture that I didn't know I had. Did nothing to cover pores. Does not apply well with a sponge. Not only that but it feels like a second skin and lasts all day long even in the Louisiana humid summer heat. It feels very moisturizing and doesn’t dry my skin at all nor does it feel greasy and pasty like other dry skin foundations. As I said, it feels like a second skin. So much so that I don’t have that urge at the end of the day to take it off and often have been forgetting until bedtime. With my usual “fancier” foundation, I feel like I “need” to wash it off as soon as I get home in the evening. I have to say, I’m a convert and will make this my everyday foundation. Revlon Colorstay Foundation is medium coverage. It has a liquid but dense texture at the same time (I know, explaining textures is difficult), it is not heavy and it blends easily. At the coverage level, you can put several layers without it looking "cakey" and you can turn it into a high coverage base. You can blend it with a sponge or brush and the result is still beautiful. It has SPF 20 sun protection, but in my experience it does not generate flashbacks, so I have been able to use it in makeup at night and the flash in the photos has not made my face white.Every time I use this base I can say that it lasts all day. I can apply it early in the morning, and at night when I go to remove my makeup it is still there, the places where it disappears the most are in my oily areas: nose, cheekbones and forehead, but it does not disappear completely.Usually I have to touch up with my powder 3 or 4 hours after applying the foundation because the shine and oiliness of my skin begins to come out, so if you have oily skin, it is not recommended that you use it. The edition that I bought is for dry / normal skin. Regarding the finish, it leaves you a "dewy" face. It's definitely not matte, it's brighter, so if that's the look you're looking for, I think you'll like this foundation.ysnovic.b

The Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation with SPF 15 is a creamy full-coverage foundation. The packaging was simple yet attractive and the pump bottle releases the perfect amount each time. I received the shade Neutral Sand (N-030) which was pretty close to my skin color, but slightly lighter than what I would consider my perfect match. It was close enough that it still looked natural and was not noticeably different, especially after completing the rest of my makeup look. I’ve never used a full-coverage foundation before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. This product had pretty good coverage – not quite as good as a concealer but still enough that I would be comfortable skipping the concealer on my blemishes and dark spots when wearing this. The thick, creamy consistency made it easy to dab onto my skin using a damp beauty blender. I have very dry skin and was happy to find that this foundation didn’t cling to my dry areas or dehydrate my skin further (when using with my normal moisturizer and hydrating primer). After about 2 hours of wear with no other makeup or setting powder/spray over the foundation, it did begin to crease slightly around my eyes and settle into my pores. I typically wear a medium-coverage tinted moisturizer so this foundation did feel a bit heavy, cakey, and tacky compared to what I’m used to, although I did expect this. I can’t say whether this foundation is more lightweight than other full-coverage foundations as this is the first one I’ve used. Overall, I liked the shade of this foundation, the coverage, the length of the wear, and the fact that it contains SPF 15. I wasn’t a fan of the heavy feeling or that it settled into my creases and pores. This foundation is something I would wear on occasion when doing a full glam makeup look, but definitely not as an everyday product. I do recommend this product if you often wear a full face of makeup, but if you enjoy more of a natural look like myself, it may not be for you.megan2395

When I tell you I am obsessed with foundation, I am not exaggerating. I've tried so many, high end and drugstore. My last holy grail was Nars Radiant Long Wear in Punjab. The one thing I noticed was that I could use a little and get full coverage, it always felt like it just would sit on top of my skin. I have never considered Bobbi Brown before, not sure why, but I found a good match W-046, for light medium skin with yellow undertones. The finish is beautiful! I use Elf Jelly pop primer first. I then first tried to apply it with a brush, it didn't look good. I then tried a sponge, as that is what I use with my Nars. That took away the coverage. So, I tried my fingers, and that was the trick! I apply with my hands then I build up with a dry beauty blender by tapping/stippling it on my skin. It's medium coverage and builds to full. It takes a little bit for it to dry down, but not where it feels like it's sitting on your skin. I use Bare Minerals compact mineral veil setting powder in Medium Sheer over it. It wears long for me, didn't look like it was that dry matte look, it was natural matt, but still radiant, but not dewy. This feels just like skin, for the coverage I get, I can't believe it feels so light. It's a creamy foundation too, not watery. I didn't look dull in it, it didn't settle into lines, or exaggerate pores. I purposely avoid the luminous face products because it seem to exaggerate my texture, which is very light acne scaring. This foundation does a great job at not drawing attention to it, I mostly have scaring on one cheek. I absolutely recommend this to everyone with a similar skin type as mine.Lydia

I have always struggled finding a good matte foundation becuz I’ve always been VERYYY oily my whole life but this is the one. I’ve never had a foundation match my skin tone so naturally. The foundation rlly stops me from having my face rlly oily (I’m very VERY oily). What I love about it is that it rlly stops me from being oily for a long time, I wear it to work (8 hours) and by the end of those eight hours my face is still a TINY bit oily but this is the best foundation becuz other foundations (fenty/ urban decay/Clinique) have always gave me leaving work with a very oily face. And did I mention it’s very light weight…. Like VERY. Out of all the foundations/tints I’ve ever worn….this is the lightest. (I’ve worn foundation for almost 10 years now) I also struggle with acne and pimple scars and it doesn’t have full FULL coverage but it is very buildable. And I love how it has spf so that it also helps with the acne scars. Honestly my new go-to foundation for a long time. i've been wearing this since high school in the 70s/early 80s, and I keep coming back to it no matter how many high-end brands of pressed powder I've spent loads of money on over the years. This one is simply my favorite. It gives me the nice matte finish that I love and provides more of this desirable matte coverage than "better" brands. For everyday wear I use a concealer, blush, and this powder. This has been my routine for decades – I'm 59 now and this powder still works for me. My skin is a real combination of dry, normal, and oily, and I don't have a problem with this powder settling in my lines and wrinkles, or looking chalky or patchy. And yes, it has a distinct smell. I love the smell, and of course it "takes me back," but the smell does fade as you use the compact up.Coco

I have been using Covergirl liquid foundation since I was a teenager and have always been satisfied. I am now 72 years young and totally disgusted. I recently purchased Covergirl Clean Matte 510 Classic Ivory Liquid Foundation and it is terrible. It states on the bottle that it is oil free, however, it is definitely not. This is an amazing foundation for my needs. I have dry skin, but then I add retinol and other skin care products to which makes my skin drier. This foundation is a very moisturizing product. Plus it seems to melt into the skin with very little effort at all. Some foundations I've tried, which have been many seem to sit ontop of my skin or need tons of blending. This needs very little blending and it just settles into your skin. It also has these molecules that brightens your whole appearance without making you look light you have glitter on. People say I have a refreshed look or a healthy look to my face. The one down side is the amount you get for the price, but a little goes a long way with this product. I use 1 to 2 small pearl size drops and I have some acne scars. While it doesn't eliminate the acne scars, it does cover them and concealer does the rest. I will purchase this product again!Merissa

This product is a gorgeous dewy foundation but I was flabbergasted by how little product you get for the price. It’s not something I could justify purchasing again for that reason though I do really like the foundation. It gives light to medium coverage and such a pretty natural finish. I have sensitive skin, and lately I've been developing allergies to bismuth oxychloride. Also, I don't like heavy foundation or animal testing. This can make finding a foundation rather challenging. Luckily, after much online research, I found KohGenDo Maifanshi Moisture Foundation, and I am thrilled. It gives me the coverage I need without being cakey, it never breaks me out, and it lasts all day. In humid weather, all I need is a blotting paper around midday, and I look great. Somehow, magically, Maifanshi Moisture Foundation works exceptionally well in both winter and summer. I am 43 and have combination skin that is mostly clear, but I have some redness, fine lines, and pores that I like to cover up. Maifanshi Moisture Foundation is the best foundation I have ever found. I feel polished yet look very natural. My shade is 112, and I sincerely hope KohGenDo makes it forever!DM

First off I can guarantee you that I am regular paying customer that spent her own hard earned money to purchase this foundation. I saw it being used on YouTube by someone comparing it to my previous foundation, and I was hesitant to buy it. I probably visited the website three times before I actually decided to buy it. I had lost all hope when they discontinued my holy grail Mac Prolongwear, I used for 10 years. I was devastated when I tried countless of foundations looking to replace it, and nothing came close. Well I have found the perfect shade, perfect texture, and staying power from this foundation. This foundation gives you a semi matte finish that only my oily face (which has enough grease to fry an egg on) stays on all day long, looking flawless. I didn’t even have to powder. Now I understand why this product is so hyped up. It definitely deserves all of the attention and more. I can’t imagine someone not liking this foundation. I placed my order by supporting our famously local, renowned makeup artist, model, and social media sensation "Les Do Makeup" bundle. The color match on-line was to a T. Order was received rapidly and very well packaged as well. My four stars rating is based on foundation being very dry on my combination almost 50 yrs. old skin. I even tried it on my daughter-in-law (who by the way has very beautiful young skin) and it too looks dry on hers. I was so excited to try this out since every YouTuber raves about it :’) unfortunately it did not meet the expectations I had from hearing all good things about it. The coverage is not all there, at some points it feels sheer so you have to really build up. I thought it would be a bit more Matte, but nope, if you’re any oily even just the t-zone this will get you oily super fast, especially in this summer heat. This is a very good and affordable foundation. I have this foundation in “Light Ivory”. The undertone of this foundation is slightly yellow, but after applying concealer and the rest of my base, the shade looks fine. (Since I purchased this foundation, the shade range has been expanded.) I find that this foundation has a medium amount of coverage that can be built up to increase coverage or sheered out if desired. Although this oil-free foundation claims to have a semi-matte finish, I find it has a radiant/ glowy finish. I have dry skin, so I like the finish of this foundation. After wearing this foundation for a few hours, my skin can get oily and require blotting/powdering. I recommend setting this foundation with powder. If you like a foundation that has a dewy or glowy finish, you may really like this foundation. This product is very affordable, although the bottle only contains 20ml of foundation. (The standard amount is 30ml.) I will continue to use this foundation and I will try different primers and powders to see if I can improve the appearance and wear of this foundation. Overall I like this product. It gives me pretty good coverage, not full coverage but it is buildable. I don't like the scent, it smells very fragranced and I enjoy fragrance-less products more. It's also a little drying on it's own and I have normal/combination skin. I HAVE to use lots of skin prep and moisturizers before putting it on, and overall I enjoy more moisturizing, glowy bases instead of matte looks, so this is a great product for people with oily skin/people who love matte, but not for me. I decided to try this foundation again recently after running out of it a few years ago. I clearly just forgot how good it was. The foundation looks beautiful on the skin and you can keep layering and building the coverage up without it looking cakey or bringing out the texture of your skin. If anything it looks smoother the more you put on. I really like the shade range this foundation has as it seems to cater to a lot of different undertones. The shade is perfect for me. The perfect shade for people on the paler side. After setting with a finishing powder, my acne prone skin looked almost airbrushed and it lasted great throughout the day even without a primer. I personally like the smell, I’m not sure how to describe it but it’s not overpowering and it did not irritate my skin. The foundation didn’t seem to cause any acne. I bought this foundation with high hopes and have tried it out several times. I am so dissapointed. It does not blend out good on my face whatsoever and looks very patchy. I used Smashbox and CoverFX primers but no help. I used high end moisturizers beforehand to ensure no dryness on my skin. Nope. I tired brushes and damp sponges. Nope. I LOVE this foundation. I try to stick to drug store make up simply because of price but when it comes to foundation I’ve always had to use expensive products. My go to was urban decay. My skin is SOOOOO sensitive, I’m a redhead that actually tans, has freckles and I break out all of the time just from outside and the pollution… yes I’m THAT sensitive. But this foundation is the BEST foundation I’ve ever used. It makes my skin look flawless, it’s truly full coverage – unlike other brands that claim to be. It’s light weight, creamy but not too creamy, a little goes a long way, doesn’t cake or crease and truly lasts for a long time. It says 16 hr, but honestly it lasts longer. I’ve fallen asleep and my face still looks fresh. I tell everyone about this foundation because I’m so happy with it. Been using it for months and I don’t plan on going back. It is also extremely easy to tone match compared to other brands- it’s true to the color!!! The bottle will look a little darker than what the shade is, but the foundation itself is true to color – just take a crumb size dab on wrist while shopping and you’ll see what I’m talking about. One bottle should last you about 5 months and that’s if you use it daily and have moderate acne like I do. It doesn’t make me break out more like others do.shelby.g

This foundation claims to be full coverage, however, the coverage is more of a medium buildable coverage. Despite this fact, once layered, it creates a lightweight, super-smooth, matte perfected finish. The formula is quite thick with a mousse-like consistency which I usually do not prefer. This product exceeded my expectations and I would have given it five stars hadn't it been for the unfulfilled claim of being full coverage. The color, #306 (Buff Beige), is remarkably natural looking and neutral in tone unlike many other drugstore foundations I have tried. The finish and feel of this foundation is outstanding in quality and comparable to high-end foundations. I don't even need to use primer with it as it is so smoothing with a blurring effect. I would highly recommend trying this. Note: I have very oily skin and my skin color is hard to match but this matches my tone perfectly. Update: (February 24, 2019) After wearing this foundation several times, it seems to have shifted my perspective. My initial reaction on it was wonderful, however, the lasting power is horrible. I am very oily so I’m sure that contributes to it’s lasting power. It seems to never actually dry or set. It settles into pores and fine lines. If I touch my face, even lightly, it transfers off even after setting it pretty heavily with powder. I’d only recommend this foundation if your skin is normal, even texture and you don’t require much coverage as building it up amplifies most of these issues. Almay, I love that your products are hypoallergenic, but I don't understand why, if you specialize is sensitive skin (so most likely your clientele is post 35, as skin becomes more sensitive with age), all your foundations are either matte or for oily skin. Where are the moisturizing dewy, luminescent foundations for women mid-late 30s and older? I am 43, and have light warm toned skin. I bought this foundation because I needed something hypoallergenic that doesn't irritate and give me a rash, and it said the product was moisturizing so I bought it. My first disappointment is that your color options are all either cool or neutral in the light and medium shades. There are no lighter shades in a warm undertone. So I got the neutral buff. It's an okay color, but too ashy, almost a slight green/gray tint against my fair golden undertone skin. Ashy tones are aging. The finish is quite matte and looks cakey. I used my fingers; maybe I'm supposed to use a sponge, but I don't like to do that as you actually waste a lot of product with sponges. I actually consider your Skin Shade Matching foundation 'matte' but compared to this one, it's almost dewy, maybe because it's less heavy. So I guess I'll stick with that one instead. If you are age 13-27, have oily skin, and want a matte foundation with fuller coverage, have either neutral or cool skin tone, this foundation will likely be a good fit for you. If you are in your 40s+ and have dry skin, I can't see this being super flattering. Please make a dewy finish foundation specially for dry/mature skin!Ginger1

*** Product bought with my own money *** Application method : sponge PROS : – average consistency that’s easy to blend, – instant true matte finish (at least on me), – decent lasting power (not stunning, just good) as long as the skin is not oily, – natural finish, neither cakey nor too makeupey, – light to medium coverage (at best), – non-drying, – comfortable to wear. CONS : – slightly gooey texture (though less gooey than Almay TLC Makeup) which is still too thick to fill in pores, – emphasizes pores immediately, – creases very badly on oily areas within 2 hours, – settles in expression lines (except around eyes which is my driest area), – average shine control, – no blurring effect (just the opposite of the so called "optical blurring technology" claim), – limited shade range, – no pump, – bad quality control. COMMENTS : This foundation is a mixed bag for me. On the one hand it has a true matte finish (which I love), is easy to blend and has a decent lasting power. But on the other hand, it creases and cakes on oily areas as soon as oil peeks through, settles in every lines (forehead and smile lines), and emphasizes pores upon contact (and even further as day goes on). I can’t see the logic of launching a true matte foundation that works only on normal to dry skin while the most logical targeted skin types should be the oily/combo ones. I can’t find a good match : 100 Cool Ivory is a touch too light (but way too pink) and 110 Neutral Buff is one to two shades too dark (but has a gorgeous yellow undertone without any peachiness). This does not necessarily worsen my rating, it just means there’s not my shade in this range. I end up mixing 100 and 110 in equal parts to get a decent match (but I hate mixing shades, it's a waste of time and product). There are at least several shades missing between 100 and 110 as there’s a huge jump between them (as shown in a joined picture). I’d like to point out the poor quality control : – the consistency of the foundation changes from one shade to another : 100 Ivory is way thicker (and has more coverage) than 110 Neutral Buff, then 120 Cool Bisque (just bought this one for comparisons) is thicker again, – the label doesn’t stick well to the bottle (there are lots of air bubbles under it) and the silver printings flake and vanish super fast. Now let’s talk about the missing pump. Seriously, Almay, how can you launch a new foundation in a glass bottle without a pump on it ??! The formula is too thick to easily pour it out of the bottle, and such an old-school bottle doesn’t offer good control over the amount of product you get (which means it's messy and there’s a waste of product). I’ve seen on your Instagram account that you claim the lack of pump is a choice of yours "to eliminate the use of unnecessary plastics in our packaging". This is hypocritical as you are still launching new products with plastic-based packagings. If you really wanted to use less plastic, without penalizing users who like the praticity of a pump, you should at least sell reusable pumps. I just think the pump was removed just to reduce the manufacturing process, nothing laudable here. I join a picture that shows I fitted pumps on my bottles. The Colorstay pump works fine (you'll have to change the pipe that goes into the product as it's too short) but the cap becomes tricky to put back as it does not touch the bottle anymore (you may accidentally press the pump if you push the cap too far). I chose to use other pumps with a 24/410 ring and a long pipe that I can cut at the right length. I also join a picture of dry swatches of the three lightest shades compared to my go-to foundation in the two shades that match me the best (Urban Decay Stay Naked in 20NN and 20WY) Will I repurchase ? Absolutely not ! Even if there was a good shade match, the overall performances are just average (except for the gorgeous-but-short-lived matte finish). Let’s hope that Revlon (which is Almay’s parent company) will launch their own version with a more sophisticated and better performing formula.Arosci

I use Almay clear cinplexion 4 in 1 since it came out, I used this line for over 20 years, a few discontinued products with better replacements til now. The new version added prebiotic and aloe, I now break out from it and this product was recommended as a replacement via email by almay, however I broke out terribly. And still don't know what to use next, I will be trying cliniques version of complexion clearing liquid foundation as a last resort, hoping to find it works the same and doesn't orrotate my sensitive skin. I love the way this feels on my skin and how light it feels. It looks nice and wears well so far. I have tried with different primers and without primers and have really enjoyed it. Definitely worth trying and it claims to be sheer buildable coverage, blurs imperfections, evens skin tone and all day hydrating all of which I think are true claims. It is vegan, formulated without talc, parabans, formaldehyde, Phthalates, mineral oil, sulfates and fragrance which is great and is cruelty free! Definitely recommend and worth trying! Will be repurchasing for sure! Finally, a foundation that is a true Porcelain and not covered with orange and brassy undertones! 🚨Alert for my fellow pasty people, this is a gorgeous creamy Porcelain tint. I love that it is vegan🐰🌿 and packed with coconut milk🌴 and aloe extracts that nourish the skin. The consistency is liquid but without a viscosity that runs everywhere, it will stay put where you apply it. It can be applied with stippling fingers, a beauty blender or a fluffy brush for best results. It is not chalky on the skin and doesn’t leave a chalky feel after application. A lot of “porcelain” tinted products pump up the “talc” to achieve the proper tint, this one does not. It’s lightweight on the skin, blurs imperfections beautifully, and is buildable friendly. I’d like to know how this holds up in humidity and warmer weather, but in cold weather it’s holding up flawlessly. This will be a new staple in my travel bag! 🧳angela.m

I noticed the reviews for this foundation are pretty mixed. This is surprising to me because this is seriously my holy grail foundation. I have been using this for 5 years now and every time I go to switch my foundation, I always, always come back to this one. A few things to address: 1. Other reviewers said this foundation leaves them looking orange. I have extremely, extremely pale skin (the lightest font beauty and cover fx shade) with neutral undertones. It works perfectly for me and even makes me look a bit tanned (though not unnatural at all). I think as long as you have neutral or yellow undertones, this foundation will work for you. 2. I have acne. This foundation doesn't make my breakouts worse, and covers them pretty well for most of the day (with a medium coverage concealer on top) 3. The coverage is buildable. I'll put on a second layer if I'm going out at night (not just a light coverage day) and I can achieve medium coverage that still looks natural. Don't expect full coverage. 4. This foundation actually has some skin benefits. aka Argan oil. 5. It basically just looks like your skin but better. Because it goes on white and changes to your skin tone, I actually had a friend ask what I was applying while I was putting it on because she said "whatever you just put on made your skin look incredible." She couldn't believe it was a foundation (it is a bit shocking that it comes out pure white). Overall, this foundation was seriously life-changing for me. I am 47 years old with fine lines and hardley visible pores. I bought this foundation thinking it would be smooth and "anti aging", as it is advertised as a serum anti aging product. Upon application, it settled in every single pore on my face, staying white in my pores. The foundation is not buildable and sinks into every single fine line/more visible lines on your face making you look old and weathered. Even when I put a dewey setting spray over it. It accentuates any and all facial hair, also, It is a horrible product. I was going to return it after the 1st application but decided to try it out a bit longer. I ended up using it a few more times and buying a new product from a completely different line. Now it's too late to return so I lost $45. I have used this foundation for years. My daughters have also been using it with great results. We loved everything about it, coverage, shade, blended perfectly, improved acne, etc. I was so bummed to see that the formula has changed (bottle with the green design). The shade that I have always bought no longer matches my skin, it is thicker & gross feeling, it does not blend well, and looks terrible on my face. My daughters tried it also and both agreed it was horrible. I don’t understand why this company would change something that was already perfect? Did they even have anyone test this before making this big change? I wish there was a way to still buy the old formula. This was MY foundation. I've used this foundation for 10+ years. I even used it before they even had the color porcelain formulated. Once they formulated porcelain I was so happy because it was light and fair enough for my skin. However, the new porcelain color is a good 3 shades deeper and ORANGE. The undertone is so unbelievably orange. I don't understand how that is considered porcelain. I bought 2 bottles thinking they were the same color, hopefully I can get a refund. Like other reviews I am SO disappointed by the new formula. The new one settles into fine lines a magnifies pores (I always moisturize and use primer). The new one seems a little thicker and a tad chalky. I went from looking radiant (old formula) to aged (new formula). I’ve always had oily skin and the old formula was brilliant at controlling oil but avoided the heavy full coverage look. Almay really messed up a great product. The new formula is run of the mill and disappointing.Drea
