It's very hydrating and kind of calming. Feels like a moisturising primer, which is great if u want to put make up on. If you have dry or irritated skin though, can be a little too light. One day I had irritated eyelids and it was stinging a little, so had to put mineral SPF. I will def wear it on days when I feel oily. In my opinion better than BOS spf in their category.Kate

Absolutely in love! I have to say this is just my third pick in face sunscreen but I can see myself not changing for a long time! Last time I was using hellofresh the serum one which was a little thick and made me suuper shiny. It evens out my skin tone and blends seamlessly into my skin. All sunscreens are either WHITE, greasy, OILY, yucky, or heavy, this is like a second layer OF YOUR SKIN! Drugstore tinted sunscreens are usually horrible, and many others at Sephora or dermatome are much more expensive, and with sunscreen you must apply LIBERALLY, so having a cheaper option like this is worth it so you can be generous with your sunscreen and keep your skin safe. Even though it is tinted, it will not cover up hyperpigmentation, acne, or wrinkles, putting a primer underneath after the rest of your skincare is crucial to help it fill out pores and wrinkles. While this can work with most skin tones, it doesn't work for people who i know who are mixed race are, or have medium skin tones, if you have yellow, peach, or golden undertones and you are fair, or dark, this will blend into your skin, otherwise go for elta md spf 46.faatima.r

This is as far as I go with face makeup and the more I use it the less hyperpigmentation I have thanks to avoiding nasty tints that sink into your pores and cause congestion. Highly recommend for acne prone, textured skin. Simple fix to the tackiness is putting on bareminerals foundation over it. Buildable and leaves you with hydrated, moisturized, and protected skin. Alone it is very dewy and just the finish for hot dry Florida days. When the humidity kicks up, adding some powder to prevent transfer and keep it from feeling tacky is all you need. Perfect product! I've tried far too many high quality and "clean beauty" tinted spfs and this checks all my boxes. There is no such thing as a perfect spf but with a couple hacks this baby comes close. Nice texture — silky but not oily. It leaves more of a dewy, than an oily look. It's unscented, and water-based with none of the unhealthy ingredients that are already banned in other countries, but that can be sold legally in US cosmetics. It also contains some good ingredients such as niacinamide. The tint works for my light skin. It looks dark when it comes out of the tube but blended in well and has just enough pigment to even skintone without looking like you are wearing makeup. (For reference, my skin tone is about the same as Neutrogena Healthy Skin products in Fair to Light 20 tone.) It has a warm undertone, so would probably be better for people with the same. I'm not sure if it would leave a light cast for darker skin tones, but I don't believe it would leave that ghostly white cast some zinc oxide sunscreens do. this sunscreen could be good, depending on what you’re looking for. it’s good for sensitive skin; it didn’t break me out, and it’s not oily, if anything it’s more drying. it is thick and hard to blend in, but it does eventually blend. it leaves a pretty bad white cast, makes me look like a zombie. also, when you reapply it feels like you have so many layers on your face. i like that its a physical sunscreen that isn’t going to break me out and it doesn’t have chemicals, but i think if i use it in the summer when i’m slightly tan the white cast will be extremely noticeable. ive mixed it with moisturizer that has spf in it and it was easier to blend with less white cast, but i’m afraid the moisturizer is diluting it. it’s a good amount for the price though so if you’re curious, it’s worth trying out.C

The brand is a reputable one and I was happy to find this sensitive skin sunscreen. The cream is very thick in consistency and does not spread easily. It takes some time to rub it on the skin. It's quite affordable but little expensive than other common brands. The cream stays on for few hours and needed to be reapplied. The best part was it did not cause allergies or rashes. I am an older adult – "Irish red" – with basal cell history – live in mid Maryland – got he product the week of 5-1-18, had a few days of 80 – 90 degree full or mostly sunny days. I normally avoid the sun altogether, wearing total clothing coverage, wide brim hats, and zinc ointment on my lips if I do go out during the day (cutting the grass). I even do most of my outdoor yard work in pre dawn hours. Thought would put the product to the full test. Aveeno's good reputation preceded my getting the Baby Continuous Protection Lotion – what prompted me to give it the full test was the brand, zinc oxide broad spectrum SPF 50 sweat and water resistant up to 80 minutes. I chose a day with no clouds, upper 80, lower 90s – went out mid day with a T-shirt, long pants, small cap hat to cover my scalp and hair, work gloves ( took to working in the yard where no shade for exactly 80 minutes ) even timed it. I put the lotion on exposed arms, ears, face, neck (front and back). With a poor or no sun screen at all – I would normally already be showing a developing (bad) burn with this type of exposure. When I ended my time it the sun – I could see my face and exposed arms were a "flushed" color – I was hoping and assuming from working in the heat for the 80 minutes. Got inside, cooled down and the flush color had disappeared – didn't want to claim any victories until I gave my skin several hours to see if a burn was going to show up. Waited 5 hours, took a shower and voila – no evidence of any kind of skin color change. I considered this a big win knowing my skin the way I do. Would highly recommend for any age – it is noted Pediatrician recommended. From my own personal experience – I would recommend careful use of any and all product on the very young – even in the shade, most skin covered – just face exposed, under an umbrella their tender skin can pick up the burn of sun rays just from reflecting from other objects, e.g., sand is a big one. Their tiny cheeks can pick up a bad burn that won't show up til late in a day – frequent application – follow any doctor instruction for the very young. Context: I have dry, fair, sensitive skin with a lot of pink/red tones. Most non-mineral UV filters burn and sting, and most zinc sunscreens dry out my skin or look super shiny. I don't wear makeup, but I do have an almost-unreasonably complex skincare routine. This is the ONLY water-resistant sunscreen that actually looks and feels great on my face! No irritation! No weird white or orange tint! No lingering, funky smell! No worsening dryness! It's perfect! If you're not big on silicones or regularly do heavier makeup, this might not be for you. But for ME – I love this stuff & this brand! I switched to Cotz after starting a heavy acne medication as my skin has been too sensitive to handle chemical sunscreens. PROS: No negative effects on my sensitive skin! The tint is just enough to counteract any white cast (I'm fair-skinned). It is silicone-heavy, but I am picky about texture and love how velvety and non-greasy it feels. It also has a barely-there sunscreen smell, which I also personally like because I get a hint of the summery sunscreen nostalgia without feeling like I just took a bath in it. CONS: A bit pricey for the tube size; I'm fortunate to afford it but there are plenty of other good sunscreens at better price points. Also, I haven't noticed any clear moisturizing benefits from this formula – you should still be using a moisturizer alongside this sunscreen.Cherry

I was really pleased with how long this lasted – there's a lot of sunscreen in the bottle for the cost, even though I reapply throughout the day. It's a nice mineral sunscreen that does not burn or sting anywhere on my sensitive skin – even around my eyes. It is a little bit heavy in texture. I like knowing I have it on my skin, but if you prefer a disappearing texture, this isn't that. It also leaves a little bit of a cast at first, but dissipated quickly on my Fitzpatrick Type 2 light skin. It likely leaves a cast on darker skin tones. It's not my favorite under makeup, but it's good for makeup free days. I'd like to try the tinted version to see if that could work as light makeup. I've been looking for a sunscreen for my extremely sensitive and rosacea-prone oily skin. This sunscreen blends in quickly (it's a liquidy texture rather than a cream) and makes skin look brighter and smoother – somehow healthier. It may leave a bit of a white cast, but I don't mind because it tones down my redness. Pores look a bit smoother. It doesn't slide around and make an oily mess on the face like many sunscreens do on me after a few hours of wear. It gives a "glowy" finish without being overly oily or greasy. I love the simple ingredients and that it doesn't cause any irritation, and I cause use it around my sensitive eyes without stinging or bothering my contacts. As a person of color, I have found in the past that other tinted sunscreens I've tried are targeted to much lighter skin tones than mine, which is frustrating. My skin is also a combination of dry with a very oily t-zone as well as sensitive to harsh chemicals and fragrances. This has caused me to break out or appear greasy when trying other products. However, the Solaire UV Mineral Multi-Defense Tinted Sunscreen addressed both these issues for me beautifully. I decided to test this free sample I received from BzzAgent on a day my daughter had a softball tournament because I knew I'd be at the field in full sun all day. The formulation felt smooth and lightweight on my face, which I appreciate as someone who rarely wears foundation. I was pleasantly surprised that the tint blended perfectly with my skin tone. Imperfections in my skin were slightly hidden while still appearing very natural, which I prefer. I reapplied the sunscreen once later in the day and was pleased that there was no flaking, build up, or noticeable issue with the application. I even shared it with a fellow team mom who had forgotten her sunscreen, and she also loved the lightweight feel and coverage. Overall, I really enjoyed using this product and would recommend it to all my POC who've had difficulty finding a time sunscreen that works with darker skin. Absolutely awful sunscreen. I understand that mineral sunscreen will always have some type of white cast, but this one was terrible. I had people come up to me in public and ask me what was on my face! LOL! It was that bad!! I'm like a 2 on the fitz scale so I'm pretty light skin and the cast was just so bad. It also felt very chalky, & drying on my face, yet at the same time looked greasy and felt heavy. This sunscreen really clung to, and accentuated dry patches on my face that I didn't even know was there. It burned upon application too, which I was so disappointed about because I heard fairly good things about this brand being good for people with sensitize skin. I see a lot of negative reviews of this product, but I honestly I think it’s pretty amazing. I was taking a chance buying this, because my skin hasn’t agreed with other glow recipe products in the past (guessing because of the amount of fragrance in their other products), however I couldn’t resist trying a new sunscreen! I have been using it in the morning without any moisturizer at the moment, and haven’t seen any issue with dry skin. For reference I am combo (oily t zone, dry cheeks), can be acne prone, and have seen sensitivity with fragrant products or products that contain essential oils. This product does have a light watermelon scent, but it dissipates within 20 min or so. It’s working well with my Lys foundation currently, but idk what it would be like with a powder or matte foundation.. it might pill as other reviews have suggested. I have been using this product for a few weeks now and have not noticed any sensitivity or increase in acne. And I have tried other chemical sunscreens that have caused my acne to flare up, so this is certainly one of a kind! Throughout my skincare journey, I've placed a strong emphasis on purchasing clean, high-quality products, even if it costs a bit more than, say, something I'd buy at the grocery store or drug store. However, SPF has been, for reasons I can't really explain, one of those skincare products that I just haven't held to that same standard. I've always been more content to just buy a "cheaper" natural brand. Up until this product, I'd been using the Alba Botanica SPF 50 sport sunscreen. It was fine and did what it needed to. But since discovering Glow Recipe, I decided to make the splurge and try out their SPF. Let me just say, I'm SO glad that I did. One of the most notable differences between this SPF and other brands that I've used is the texture. Whereas my last sunscreen always felt so thick and like I had to really work at blending it in, the watermelon glow niacinamide sunscreen just effortless glides on. It's so silky smooth. I also love that it has just a hint of natural watermelon fragrance. Plus, it feels so nourishing, and it really does wonders to help with the texture of my skin and alleviate any redness I may have. I know it's a bit pricier than your average sunscreen, but this is a fabulous product, and if you're willing to splurge, I couldn't recommend this more.Bryce

Chemical sunscreen that is ensconced in great ingredients. WHY? Ingredients that accumulate in fish and breast milk. No one should be using any chemical sunscreen. Children are advised not to use at least one of the active ingredients because studies have shown that it aggravates rosacea and eczema. Japan limits not just one but two of the ingredients in this product. Bottom line is any sunscreen that is “light” and adsorbs easily, is chemical based – it soaks into your skin. If it accumulates in fish that swim below water treatment plants, what makes you think it doesn’t accumulate in you when you directly slather it on your skin? The government approvals of these ingredients is based on the thought that more people will die of skin cancer then will die of chemical toxicity, but how do we know that all the cancers we have aren’t a result of all the chemicals we are exposed to daily? And all of the reactive copy in the ad suggested GR knows this is an issue and is trying to head off complaints and questions in advance. I have no doubt that this is a wonderful sunscreen. The other ingredients are great. But if you care about your health you’ll stop using chemical sunscreens. You’ll just suck it up and use the mineral only ones that take about 20 minutes for your skin to warm them to the point of making the white cast disappear.Less C. P.

The first sunscreen I have liked enough to finish the bottle. The best thing about it is that it's light enough that you can't feel it on your face- it doesn't stay greasy or rub off on everything you own (like some other mineral sunscreens do) so it is very practical for every day usage. As for the cast, I am light skinned with neutral undertones and it does leave a slight blue-ish cast on my face. It is not bad though and if you rub it in all the way it is hardly noticeable. If you notice no cast at all you are not using nearly enough and not getting the full SPF 30. I would recommend removing this before reapplying because at the end of the day if you have several layers on your face from reapplication, I found that if I scratch my face even lightly that it collects so much product under my fingernails. Additionally, if it gets in my hair it kind of gets stuck and then flakes at the end of the day. This is why I give it 4 stars instead of 5, and also because I wish it came in higher SPF as well. I'm looking for the most practical and convenient sunscreen for every day use and I think this is the best at this price point. I finished the bottle in about a month and a half- that is with daily use on my face and neck with at least two reapplications (two finger lengths worth of product each time).christinemaie

I just got this and I know it’s a winner. I purchased the Biossance mineral sunscreen and I didn’t care for it, mainly because it did not absorb into my skin (think layer of cream) and would run off my face when I’d sweat. Not cute :/ or comfortable. So I decided to switch to Dr. Dennis Gross and let me tell you… it absorbs into my skin like a dream, leaves no white cast (I have a light olive complexion), and the packaging is yellow! (I like yellow). I’m joking about the packaging, I’m sure there is more to love, but I can’t think of anything else at the moment. My main concerns are absorption and no white cast and those are met. Maybe in a few weeks I’ll see if there is a difference in my skin. The only thing though is the price. Yes, it’s higher than I’d like, but at the same time it is a quality sunscreen and in a skincare routine the sunscreen is the most important step… so I guess I’ll let it slide. For reference, I have normal to dry skin, packed with hyperpigmentation, pores and fine lines because I didn’t take the proper care/protection when I was young. I thought that I was not going to like this sunscreen but I actually do, and a lot! PROS: – Physical sunscreen: even being a full physical sunscreen, it doesn’t leave too much of a white cast. – It doesn’t irritate my eyes: because of being a physical sunscreen, I can apply it around my eyes and over my lids. Chemical sunscreens irritate my eyes. – Lightweight and easy to apply. – It worked well under my makeup but I needed to use a matte finish foundation to compensate the glowy finish that the sunscreen left on my skin (I apply quite a lot to get the SPF advertised) – It has some skincare ingredients but I don’t rely on my sunscreen to get what my aging skin needs (other than the SPF, of course) – Non scented formula: it doesn’t have any perfumes so it is perfect for any sensitive face out there – Reef safe. – Clean at Sephora. CONS – It is quite pricey, and that’s the only reason to give only 4 stars. – Applying liberally, as the brand recommends and as every sunscreen should be applied to get the level of protection in the label, you will end up with a very glowy finish. It still works with my makeup but I have to avoid glowy foundations or it would be too much glow. I was searching yesstyle for a while looking for an affordable lightweight sunscreen with high SPF that I could wear under makeup, and also did not irritate my skin or cause breakouts. I came across the SCINIC Enjoy Super Mild Sun Essence sunscreen and thought I'd try it out – what a great choice this ended up being ! I have never used such a lightweight and non-greasy sunscreen before. The product its extremely thin and spreads across the face and neck effortlessly. After immediate application I do find that my skin appears somewhat shiny, however after a few minutes this goes away completely and dries down to an invisible natural finish; I don't notice any white cast on my face either. I definitely feel confident going out into the Australian sun with this product on. I have worn this under a number of different foundations and powders and have not noticed any issues with how my makeup applies or wears throughout the day. I have been using this sunscreen for over a month now and have not noticed any irritation on application, I also haven't noticed any break outs – I am unable to confirm but I believe this product is either fragrance free or has very minimal fragrance.Sarah

I love this sunscreen. It goes on sheer, has no white cast, is not drying. It's slightly moisturizing but not greasy with skin-like finish. It spreads nicely, has no scent, and it doesn't burn eyes. The price is amazing, too. I should have checked first though: Scinic sells products in China, so they are not cruelty free. For its price, this is definitely a steal. It is actually SPF 50 so I am confident in its high protection from the sun, especially because I have not gotten any new freckles since using it. It also has no white cast, which is very important for me because I'm already fair-skinned, even as an Asian, and most sunscreens with a white cast make me look like a ghost. It's called a "sun essence," but it dries down to a matte finish, so this would be best for combo to oily skin types or people who are very athletic. I will say that this is not a great sunscreen to wear under makeup because of the matte finish, but I can make it work for the most part, and for now it is my go-to daily sunscreen. I had high hopes for this sunscreen as I am a frequent user of Cetaphil products due to my highly sensitive and eczema prone skin. I've been wearing it every day while out and about in the southern heat and humidity. I will say that it is effective in that it doesn't melt off when I sweat and I definitely haven't gotten any sunburns while wearing it. It doesn't sting when I apply and has no scent. However, there is a reason it says "Ideal for under makeup" on the bottle. The white cast it leaves on your skin is intense. It has covered well with makeup (I use bareminerals original foundation), but there is no way you could use this and just walk out the door with nothing else over it. I have olive skin so I'm sure that doesn't help the situation. If you're looking for an under makeup sunscreen, this could be great for you. This is a lightweight mineral sunscreen, advertised as ideal for application under makeup. Wait, as far as I am aware, sunscreen should be applied as the last step in your skincare routine. Hm? Anyway, it worked for my skin, however, it is very basic, and it has a minimal white cast. I had to blend it well in order to avoid it. Be careful applying it over your makeup, because it is not fully transparent (minimal white cast). It did not cause any irritation/dryness, and it is lightweight as advertised. However, I am not sure if this sunscreen is reef safe. The other reviews are correct— this Cetaphil Sheer Liquid Sunscreen pills and flakes horribly. I have been using it for almost a year now and I own two bottles. I have applied it every way possible with the same unpleasant results on my face. The key to application with this product is to (1) squeeze a nickel to quarter sized amount in the palm of your hand (2) rub your palms (hands) together and then (3) gently pat the sunscreen onto your face like you are making hand paint impressions in art class. (4) keep patting until you don’t see the white cast. (5) if you need more coverage, repeat these same steps. When I apply this way, I do not get flaking and pulling. Trust me on this one, I’ve applied it other ways and I was out in these streets looking crazy. My husband even called me out a few times, like “what are those white flakes on your face?” I’ve tried other brands like Australian Gold and Coppertone but this Cetaphil sunscreen is the only one that actually keeps me from burning (that means it is working to block sun rays) and I would purchase it again until I find something better.Lena

As soon as this dripped out of the sample packet in a beige oily emulsion of sorts, I could smell a horrifically pungent odor of oil dressing for a Caprese salad I make with pure olive oil and vinegar. I have never gagged using a skin product, and this made me wretch while spreading it onto my face. While this sunscreen is genuinely transparent, it is definitely not invisible as it is very heavy on the skin and feels greasy, and left the finger with a spot of grease in the first few hours after applying too. I am a lover of thick moisturizers and face oils, and this felt like a bad cooking oil on my face, even with the smell aside – I can't imagine how this feels for people with other skin types as I have very dry skin and I hate how this is just like a thick unbreathable oil. This actually also made my eyes burn until I gave up on spreading it out & just entirely wiped this off my eye lids. I have used many strong actives on my skin for several years, so I know this is a formula issue and not my skin having a sensitive day. After feeling oily all day I ended up with dehydrated and flaking skin with a few sensitized spots on my cheeks, and washing off this sunscreen again made my eyes burn as I got this off my face completely. I heard a lot of noise about the sunscreen stick online, so I wanted to try out their liquid sunscreens as I expected an extremely well known expensive Japanese brand to have gold standard formulas. But this is one of the 2 worst sunscreen formulas I have used: I tried the other Urban Environment Oil-Free sunscreen by this brand in case I my skin just was not compatible with this thick formula . But that came with a whole different set of issues that made it equally as bad as this one. Won't touch this brand again!CattyT3

Love this sunscreen. It's very lightweight, doesn't pill, and has a smooth finish. I have oily/combo skin, but this hasn't given me any issues. My eyes don't sting from the smell, and the scent goes away after a few minutes. I only use 2 fingers instead of 4 like I normally would due to it's runny-like consistency. I've also tested this in the shower and it's definitely water resistant. No running or stinging eyes. It also works well as a primer. Occasionally, I will just use concealer and tinted spf/moisturizer to go for that "no makeup" look, and the hold this has on my products is sensational. This sunscreen will definitely be on rotation for me, especially during the dry winter months.A

I'd give it a 3.5. I have dry skin, this is oily at first but sets with time. I have no problems with it under make-up from sheer to full-coverage. I have no problems with the performance. I like it but don't love it. But, given other sunscreens out there, I would repurchase. Just not top of the list to repurchase. My important points are: 1) It says it's a 2oz bottle but the bottle says 1.6 oz. Which one is it? 2) Strong fragrance. My eyes are sensitive to the fragrance of sunscreens and makes them burn. I became worried when I smelled this because the scent is pretty strong. However, although it is a strong fragrance, it doesn't bother my eyes like other brands do. And the scent dissipates, unlike others. So, although it does have a fragrance, it didn't bother my eyes. Note, I don't actually use this on the undereye and lid, I only use mineral sunscreen for that. But the scent of other sunscreens can really bother my eyes throughout the day and this one didn't. 3) As stated, I have dry skin. So I actually appreciate the oiliness of the product. This was my first time trying a sunscreen from this brand and I was not that impressed. I got this one and the non-tinted version of this, and both were just not that great. They don't sit well over certain moisturizers (I use cerave cream) and can pill/bunch up depending on the skincare you have underneath. The tint on this claims to be universal, but it was noticeably darker compared to my natural skintone. I'm Asian with light/fair skin (Fitzpatrick type 2), and the color difference was so obvious. I applied this to my face and neck, and it was so dark compared to my chest. I was confused because reviews with lighter skin said the tint was fine, but it might also be that people don't apply an appropriate amount for proper spf coverage. The tint on this is really suited for those who are a solid medium/tan skintone. This is also not dark-skinned friendly (I had my friend try it out), as it leaves you looking ghostly. Also, the smell is similar to that of rubber tires. I do like that it's spf 50 and lightweight, but the cons heavily outweigh the pros for me that I would not find myself ever purchasing this again.Kev

Recently with the influx of skincare and makeup videos on apps like Instagram and tik tok, I've been seeing so many things about sunscreen and sun protection. I'm only 25 but I've started to notice some fine lines and signs of sun damage since I'm quite pale and fair skinned, which is all the more reason for me to use this. I've tried other sunscreens for the face but most of them leave a white cast or make my skin feel even more oily than it already is, or even pill up on dry areas. That was until I went searching for the best face sunscreen and found this. At first I was hesitant because of the price, and thought about it for a few months. I mean $37 for sunscreen is definitely a lot, but to those wondering if it's worth it: it definitely is. This sunscreen is absolutely amazing, it's light, fluid, makes me feel like I'm wearing nothing at all, and best of all leaves NO WHITE CAST!!! I love knowing that I'm protected and the spf 50 is great for someone like me with super pale skin. The only issue I have with it is that it does leave my face looking a little oily but usually I'll just put a bit of powder on and it looks normal. I would definitely be interested in trying something that has a more matte finish, if available. Also I will say if you use the recommended amount of sunscreen daily you will go through this bottle pretty quick. It lasted about 3-4 weeks for me, so it could be worth investing in a backup sunscreen that's cheaper, but overall I love this sunscreen it's the best one I've tried yet!!Cccmp

I'm so glad I decided to try this particular sunscreen from La Roche-Posay {already being happy with, -and using their SPF50 for children for both me and my son} wanting something that felt a bit lighter for the face and neck especially. I have very sensitive, reactive skin prone to redness {not diagnosed but ticks every box for Rosacea} and not only does this sunscreen not cause any irritations whatsoever, but my skin seem calmer and happier since I've started using this nearly daily and I've had no flare ups and putting it on. There's not even a hint of redness {that can even be brought on by my kind moisturiser that is great for me otherwise}. Anyone with finicky skin knows that this in itself is so nice to find, – but not only have I had these results every time for weeks now, but it also seem to make my make up look and last b e t t e r, which I find hard to expect from a sunscreen. So much so that I've stopped using a primer before make up application {and rather just use this sunscreen and then a cc cream and some translucent mineral veil, and I have had more compliments on my skin than ever}. The consistency is quite runny and light, but I find that to be a great feature for a sunscreen for the face as it melts in with no white cast whatsoever. It stays a bit tacky to the touch {and skin looks healthy 'glowy' on me}, which I now only appreciate as that might be what then has make up sit well on top too. First time I ordered I was a bit taken back by how small the bottle is, but it's lasted much longer than expected with daily use and I've reordered more than happily since.Hannah

Pros: this product doesn't sting my sensitive eyes, and it prevents sunburn. Cons: It settles into the lines of my skin and makes them white. I end up with white lines across my neck, and the visual effect is similar to old age stage makeup. It makes the lines look deeper and more severe. Also, the performance under makeup is appallingly bad. Utterly woeful. I tried it with Bareminerals Barepro pressed powder, and I also tried it with the Lisa Eldridge longwearing liquid foundation, and the makeup looked nice when I first applied it, but then it quickly degraded over the next few hours. The powder foundation cracked so badly that it ended up looking like I had flaky snake scales all over my face. I was still at work, and I took a tissue and savagely wiped away the worst bits. The longwearing foundation fared better, but it split and cracked like a desert floor. The foundation I've been using instead for everyday wear, that doesn't sting my eyes but plays well with makeup, is the Supergoop Play. I get the big jug of it and use it on my face and body, and my makeup sits on top of it beautifully. I would recommend the anthelios for a hike, or some other activity where you'll be in the sun but your appearance doesn't matter.Cydni

It applies perfectly on my face and arms and leaves no white cast. Normally I spend $38-$65 dollars just for my face sunscreen but no more. This one is top dog now. It’s mostly physical with a tad bit of chemical but I’m ok with that. I use to try so hard and use products that were 100% clean and they are so expensive but what people don’t realize is there are non clean ingredients in practically everything. Makeup, skincare, hair products, ect. At least with La Roche Posay I don’t worry about it. It’s fragrance free and doesn’t have sulfates and the majority of the other bad stuff. This brand was made for sensitive skin and mine sure does love it. I’ve been using their face and body wash for dry to extra dry skin on my face then their face and body cream on my face followed by this amazing sunscreen. Who says you have to spend a fortune on skincare for it to work? Next product of theirs I want to try is the hylaronic acid serum. It’s a combination of big and small molecules to reach the surface of the skin and I believe 15 layers deep. Sounds amazing! I originally tried this out after having a reaction to the cult favorite UV Clear–I think my skin disagrees with the niacinimide in that formulation. Anyway, I was happy with the quality of EltaMD, but looking for something more moisturizing for my combination/dry skin and I found it in UV Facial. This is an incredibly moisturizing and rich formula that does not leave a white cast on my pale skin. It will leave an ever so slight shine on your face, which translates to a glow on my skin, so if you are oily or prefer a completely matte look then this product probably isn't for you. I find it wears lovely under my foundation–something that can be a challenge with sunscreens. I love this formula so much but had to knock a star off because of the use of chemical filters. If this sunscreen was purely physical it would be a 5/5 holy grail formulation. I keep testing out all-mineral sunscreens and always come back to this one. I use this as my daily sunscreen! Honestly I haven’t had a lot of luck with many sunscreens because of white-cast, oiliness, etc, but this one has been the best formula of the ones I’ve tried in the past. It’s a lightweight formula but you can definitely feel it on your face for the first 20 minutes after applying. It definitely protects your skin and it feels like a clean product, and not too heavy. It has a slight white-cast that goes away after a minute of rubbing in. My only downsides are that it leaves an oily/glossy finish (which I personally dislike) and that it pills with other products. The gloss isn’t terrible, you can certainly cover it up with some powder, but not too bad alone. It definitely can pill so I have opted out from using it with makeup or serums. I keep my morning skincare routine very minimal (just wash and moisturize) so that this sunscreen will not pill. I’ve had it pill before with the cerave vitamin c serum. I have literally tried over 20 sunscreens. Finding one that checks all the boxes ingredient wise and that had a nice finish is nearly impossible. Actually, this is the only sunscreen that has met all my criteria. It also makes my skin look and feel amazing. I have acne prone skin, I’m combo oily, I don’t like feeling anything on my face, and I enjoy makeup. I’m also on a retinoid. I have been using this sunscreen for over a year, and continue to come back to it when I go exploring to see if there’s something better. So far, there isn’t! The finish is natural. It’s not too shiny and not too matte. It literally just makes my skin look healthy and moisturized but not oily at all. There is absolutely no white cast. It does not pill under any makeup I’ve tried. It layers up beautifully. I’ve reapplied 3 times in a day and it manages to stay silky and not cakey on my skin. It does have a very mild, pleasant scent- which is great because I hate fragrances in products or ones that smell naturally of battery acid. It does not sting around my eyes AT ALL. It also has the added benefits of improving my skin texture and look of my complexion. Though it doesn’t add coverage, per say, I can go without my powder foundation when wearing this. I cannot live without this. I am a redhead and growing up there was nothing I hated more than sunscreen. Not only was it sticky, but is smelled very distinctly like sunscreen and I was always the kid made fun of for the white streaks or cast all over my skin. I hated sunscreen. When I started researching anti-aging and skin care regimens as an adult, and everything told me to wear sunscreen everyday, I cringed. But, the thought of wrinkles made me cringe more. I tried a lot of different facial SPFs. Then I found Supergoop!. I never want to stop using this product. It does not smell like anything (including sunscreen). It is not sticky when you put the right amount on. It is completely invisible and it is so hydrating without clogging pores (adult acne struggle is real!). I was really reluctant to try this sunscreen to be honest, and mainly for the name “super goop”. To me that sounds like the sunscreen was going to be gooey and thick, and if you throw in the word “glow screen” I thought for sure I would be walking around like a disco ball. The consistency of the product itself is quite opposite of what I thought. i only apply a small amount because a little goes a long way. The consistency is thin enough to smooth onto my face and settles into the perfect finish. I’m on day two of trying this sunscreen because I’m wearing it with different products. Yesterday I tried under my full coverage makeup and no greasy face so yeah! This morning I tried it with some bronzing drops to add some color and again the consistency is gorgeous. Overall, I feel like this is a great product, especially for us oily face combination skin peeps, I’m really impressed. I also heard it goes great when mixed with tinted moisturizers so I will try that next. If I wear this sunscreen alone without makeup I may dab some powder in my t-zone for extra reassurance but I will try that next.joy.w

This is probably one of my favorite sunscreens I've ever tried! I've tried buying other sunscreens, mineral ones that "don't leave a white cast" and cheaper chemical options, and I just purchased this sunscreen for the fourth time. I also come back to this because it's a reliable choice and have had no problems. I'm Southeast Asian with a skin tone that's on the lighter side of the medium/tan range, so if I wear a 100% mineral sunscreen, my skin is light enough that it blends in but also dark enough for someone to tell that my skin tone looks off (sort of like a white cool-toned tint to my warm skin?). In other words, I just look a bit paler than usual and it looks unnatural. With this sunscreen, I don't have to think about if you can see it on my skin or if it's not blended. I usually put on more sunscreen than suggested (just to be safe), and this glides on extremely easily over my skin ( and I also didn't notice any scent/an unpleasant chemical smell). It is a bit slippery (no oils are in this, just silicones), but your skin will feel soft after rubbing it in. Speaking of which, you don't need to put in a lot of effort to apply! I had recently gotten jaw surgery and had switched to a different sunscreen (chemical, but had a white color that disappeared after rubbing in). I had incisions on the left and right side of my bottom jaw, which sunscreen would be necessary to prevent scarring, and I found that I had trouble rubbing in my sunscreen (walking into harsh lighting, I'd see white along the sides of my jaw from not blending well enough). I switched to this instead and had no problem, nor did I have to worry about having any weird coloring. The finish is a soft matte, almost similar to the Fenty Pro Filter Instant Retouch Primer. I love this product, I have sensitive skin and have had allergic reactions to sunscreen in the past. For a while, I could only use mineral based sunscreens, that left a horrible film. This works great on my skin! I use it during outdoor sports where I am sweating and wiping my face frequently, and it has given me consistently good protection against sunburns (and hopefully more subtle aging damage).JessD

I usually use the city block and have no problem at all with it. Just because they like a sheer foundation like, that is why i want to try something different, i just want regular cream. After i put it on for few days my face started itching, the skin on my face was rough, and rash like sun burns, so I thought it was because my shampoo, cause my hair touched my face. So I stopped using new shampoo and didn't put anything on my face and only put the moisture surge, and take claritine for control the itchy, it took me almost 2 weeks to get better and I started using it again, and after 1 to 2 days my face starting to itch and rough and rash like sun burns. My family started using the Clinique sunscreen since my daughter was 3 years old. She is albinoid which is a form of albinism. We had tried all kids of sun screens and non would work or she was allergic to them. We found the Clinique sunscreen body cream and have used it ever since. My daughter is now 33 and continues to use it. My experience with it was our first trip to Sea World. I used the sunscreen on my daughter and had some left on my hand. I didn't have anything to wipe it on so I rubbed it on my arm. By the end of the day I was sun burned all over my body except for my arm where I had rubbed off the sunscreen. I don't go outside much, but when I do that is all I use. We recommend this sunscreen to all of our friends with kids and grandkids. My boss and I used it at an outside graduation the other day and he liked it so much he bought a bottle. This product is so worth the money.RICKY

Picked one of the smaller sizes of these up in the sale as I’ve not tried it before, and I absolutely love it!! Definitely up there with my favourite sunscreens of all time. The texture reminds me very much of La Roche Posay shaka fluid, it’s very light and watery, however I’d say the finish on this is definitely less greasy. Left no white cast and smells lovely! I’ve tried tonnes of sunscreens at both the higher and lower end price points and this one really stood out as a great, every day wearable one. I find many to be too greasy and thick/not fun to wear or that leave a white cast/ sting your eyes etc but this one did none of those things – I will definitely be buying more of these when they come back in stock! I lent some of this to my family when we were out for a walk last week and they all commented the same, that it was a super nice sunscreen! Can see why it’s a cult classic!Maizeballs

No cast on my medium-type skintone. It also seems to hydrate my skin since I noticed if my moisturizer still left me with dry-feeling skin, this would help. The big negative for me its not sweat resistant, so if I put it around my eyes, and I sweat even a bit the solution seeps in my eye and then it hurts and I have to remove it. This is the only reason I will not buy this sunscreen again because otherwise it was fine! Other sunscreen products did not cause this sweating issue. Worth the hype and more–everything about it (ingredients, texture, lightness, absorption rate, sheen, synergy with other facial products, lack of fragrance and white cast) is truly light years ahead of most sunscreens available on the American market. The difference is almost outrageous: milky moisturizer vs. spackling paste, I know which one I'd rather put on my face! The only downside is that the tubes are rather small if one is keen on applying enough to get the labeled protection; I can see myself going through multiples quite quickly. Regardless, highly recommended for anyone who has skin. A great sunscreen with the added benefit of being great value. I find this sunscreen light weight, with no noticeable fragrance or white cast. Some sunscreens have made my combination skin feel greasy but this one doesn't which is great for make-up and for my confidence! I had been looking for a gentle sunscreen free of common harmful sunscreen ingredients, but also free of alcohol, fragrance and essential oils. You see I've got rosacea-prone skin, and these ingredients dehydrate my skin. Plus, I've got sensitive eyes, lots of sunscreens make me tear up. BUT not this one, it's so wonderful how it checks all my requirements, It's also not sticky, gets absorbed fast, and doesn't leave a white cast. Honestly, my journey for THE sunscreen was long, but it came to an end when I tried this little baby. I will buy the 2 sunscreen package from now on!!!!! Our family used the old Banana Boat Kids in the yellow bottle (used to be available in a 12 oz. pump, which was awesome!). For years and years we used that sunscreen. We were absolute devotees. Then they discontinued it and replaced it with this new one. While the active ingredients are the same, the formula is totally different. The old one was a normal lotion consistency, easy to rub in and with a white cast that faded quickly. And while it did settle into skin creases (inner elbows, etc.), it came basically clean with normal showering. This new formula is like GLUE. It takes forever to rub in, and leaves your skin looking white all day. When my kids hop into the pool or lake, the water beads up on top of this sunscreen, somehow the white cast gets even worse, and they look like wet, blobby ghosts. It migrates into creases and their hair line, leaving thick white streaks. And it is IMPOSSIBLE to wash off. Even with repeated scrubbings with a soapy washcloth, it adheres to the skin like superglue. My little one spent a while digging in the dirt yesterday after I applied this, and now the DIRT is also stuck to her like glue. We scrubbed and scrubbed in the shower last night, and she went back to camp with blackened legs this morning anyway. PLEASE bring back the old formula (AND the old larger pump bottles!). If you did, it would be the only sunscreen our entire family would use for the rest of all eternity. Until then, I'm shopping around for something that isn't impossible both to apply and to wash off. This stuff works great! I use it for running and even on the hottest, sweatiest days, it stays on and does its job! Plus it doesn't contain those freaky chemicals. Yay! There are two little problems, though. It does leave a bit of a white cast. Rubbing it in well does help, but I don't think it ever really goes away completely. The other issue is that once it's on, it's hard to get off! That is a big advantage for sun protection! However, it's tricky in the shower. There will be some kind of exfoliating product needed, if you want it all off, the first time! It's kind of fun to watch it swirl around the drain though. I also like to put on some mositurizer after use, because it seems to dry out my skin just a little. I have super sensitive fair, sun damaged, rosacea prone, dry mature skin. I literally tried about 20 different sunscreens and was so surprised to find this as my favorite. I’ve developed red rashes with other sunscreens (even physical/zinc ones) and this one does not irritate my skin at all. It does not leave a white cast on my skin. It also applies smoothly even over my thick Cerave moisturizing cream without any pilling. I typically don’t wear much makeup, but when I do, it applies smoothly on top of the Banana Boat. There is no fragrance and no irritation even on my eyelids. The only slight downside for me is that it has a slightly greasy feel, whereas I would love more of a matte finish. Most people would probably enjoy this though as it does give my face a bit of a dewy look. Overall, I can’t recommend this enough!peachie

Sheer Physical UV Defense Sunscreen. This is a 100% mineral sunscreen containing Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, and enhanced with artemia salina (a plankton extract to help boost skin’s natural defenses to UV-and heat-induced stress) It’s a very thin and milky formula and sinks in nicely. It doesn’t feel heavy on the skin like a lot of other mineral sunscreens that I’ve tried. The finish is matte and smooth. My face has zero irritation with this one and feels very protected. I don’t experience any eye stinging. It does have a very minimal whitecast on my skin tone. I usually can’t handle a whitecast but with this one I can look past it because it’s more breathable than other mineral sunscreens I’ve tried. Plus it’s very minimal. They also have a tinted version (Physical Fusion UV Defense) that looks nice too. Overall I love it !hope.d

I really enjoy this sunscreen. It’s a high-end brand, so I knew it would be a small bottle even before I looked at the product page for product size (1 oz for $35 USD). My dermatologist recommends 5%+ zinc oxide for sunscreens, so while I’ve been searching for sunscreen that’s my #1 requirement. This sunscreen has 6% titanium dioxide and 5% zinc oxide and SPF 50 so I tried it out when I picked up another product. I also have pretty sensitive skin, so it has to be able to work with it. I’ve been using it a week and so far I like it. I use the 3 finger rule for my face and neck, as I’m trying to focus on better skincare. If I do this and am not careful, I will get a white cast on my face and it’s noticeable – which is why the four stars.
