I’ve tried most of the Sun Screens at Sephora, plus UltaMd ones and a few amazing Japanese ones. This is my favorite (along with the Mermaid UV Skin gel Japanese one but it’s full chemical no zinc). The texture is amazing. My skin is hydrated but not greasy. It leaves with moisturized, wet, fresh, glass skin shine- a glow which is NOT a weird greasy film or a weird glitter sparkle like other sunscreens. Great for dry skin, and it has never irritated my skin, I even use it on my eyes lids and my eyes have never felt a sting. My only qualm is that it’s only 30 spf. Biossance, please make a 50 spf!!!!! I use this guy as my daily, casual, indoor with small errands to run sunscreen. But I do use other 50 spf sunscreens when I’m outdoors or when it’s very sunny outside. I don’t feel comfortable wearing by this as the weather heats up now in Spring. I know however that this will be my winter go-to, when I need something moisturizing and comfortable without such a need for high spf (although again, 50 spf would be much preferred). Let me start by saying DO NOT use this if you have dark skin. I’m the palest person I know and you can see this on my skin. I think that’s just the nature of zinc oxide sunscreens but I’m not totally sure. I used to really like this and I had bought it because of Hyram like a lot of other people. One of my biggest concerns with this sunscreen is the fact that it has Isostearic Acid which is a well known acne causer but I didn’t realize this until my dermatologist pointed it out and it was too late to return this. I have not noticed any breakouts yet that I can contribute to this sunscreen but just know it’s a possibility because of that ingredients, Cosdna actually ranks it as a 5 in the acne category. My other quarrel with this sunscreen is just the way it applies. This is not moisturizing even though it might seem like it when you first put it on. It dries QUICK and will not blend into the skin properly if you let it dry before it’s fully rubbed in and you’ll also have white streaks on your face. This also dries down sticky and will have a bunch of hairs and dust stick to your face. I’ve also found that throughout the day at work, I’ll have white flakes pilling and flaking off on my chin and it’s very noticeable. As for actual sun protection, I’ve never actually used this in a setting where I would get sunburnt, I use this for daily wear so I’m not sure how well it protects against the sun yet. I came to the reviews in desperation to hopefully find some answers as to why this highly rated product wrecked my skin for over half a year. I’ve never had skin issues except for the occasional dry patch during winter time, but five doctor visits and three steroids later to treat the intense itchiness, redness, flakiness, and wrinkles from dry skin (!), I’m reflecting on how this might have started. Around January 2022, I tried two new products for myself: Skinfix face wash and Biossance’s sheer mineral sunscreen. I had returned the Skinfix face wash thinking that was the culprit – the irony here is that the Sephora employee said it was a “bad batch” and that there had been some sort of recall. I continued using the Biossance sunscreen because I always use SPF outside and I liked that it was a mineral sunscreen, left absolutely no white cast or pilling, and made my skin glow. However, I’ve noticed that when I go out and use this sunscreen, I have super itchy rashes and hives appearing on my face and/or neck. The redness and irritation can last for days, or on and off for months as I have been dealing with this. I’ve been making sure I’m hydrated and moisturized, so I’ve had my normal skin for almost a week now – until today. I used the Biossance SPF again and within 20 minutes of being outside, I began to feel the tingle on my jawline. It was too late and now I’m sure it’s been this product this whole time. The dermatologist had dismissed the SPF initially as a culprit, but seeing these reviews..yikes. I have literally lost sleep by using this product because I have been clawing at my face and neck from the intense irritation. This is as far as I go with face makeup and the more I use it the less hyperpigmentation I have thanks to avoiding nasty tints that sink into your pores and cause congestion. Highly recommend for acne prone, textured skin. Simple fix to the tackiness is putting on bareminerals foundation over it. Buildable and leaves you with hydrated, moisturized, and protected skin. Alone it is very dewy and just the finish for hot dry Florida days. When the humidity kicks up, adding some powder to prevent transfer and keep it from feeling tacky is all you need. Perfect product! I've tried far too many high quality and "clean beauty" tinted spfs and this checks all my boxes. There is no such thing as a perfect spf but with a couple hacks this baby comes close. Nice texture — silky but not oily. It leaves more of a dewy, than an oily look. It's unscented, and water-based with none of the unhealthy ingredients that are already banned in other countries, but that can be sold legally in US cosmetics. It also contains some good ingredients such as niacinamide. The tint works for my light skin. It looks dark when it comes out of the tube but blended in well and has just enough pigment to even skintone without looking like you are wearing makeup. (For reference, my skin tone is about the same as Neutrogena Healthy Skin products in Fair to Light 20 tone.) It has a warm undertone, so would probably be better for people with the same. I'm not sure if it would leave a light cast for darker skin tones, but I don't believe it would leave that ghostly white cast some zinc oxide sunscreens do. I would definitely recommend this product for dry skin that isn’t super sensitive and even if you have normal skin type and you are looking for that clean gorgeous glow this is it!! If you are scared to be to glowy then you could definitely try skipping your daily moisturizer in the morning and just go in with this at the end of your skincare routine. Hydro UV Defense is a broad spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen gifted by Laneige for review. Adore this brand and was considerably excited to try their new sunscreen. First of all, it has a clear finish and more importantly: no stinging of the eyes! Unsure if this sunscreen is water resistant but it held up great during outdoor exercise. A big plus since I’ve unfortunately had painful experiences with other sunscreens. Application leaves my dry skin looking dewy and hydrated. By far my favorite sunscreen! I have medium/tan combo skin with olive undertones and this disappears beautifully following cleansing and toning with zero white cast. I cannot live without this. I am a redhead and growing up there was nothing I hated more than sunscreen. I was really reluctant to try this sunscreen to be honest, and mainly for the name “super goop”. To me that sounds like the sunscreen was going to be gooey and thick, and if you throw in the word “glow screen” I thought for sure I would be walking around like a disco ball. The consistency of the product itself is quite opposite of what I thought. i only apply a small amount because a little goes a long way. The consistency is thin enough to smooth onto my face and settles into the perfect finish. I’m on day two of trying this sunscreen because I’m wearing it with different products. Yesterday I tried under my full coverage makeup and no greasy face so yeah! This morning I tried it with some bronzing drops to add some color and again the consistency is gorgeous. This is probably one of my favorite sunscreens I've ever tried! I've tried buying other sunscreens, mineral ones that "don't leave a white cast" and cheaper chemical options, and I just purchased this sunscreen for the fourth time. I also come back to this because it's a reliable choice and have had no problems. I'm Southeast Asian with a skin tone that's on the lighter side of the medium/tan range, so if I wear a 100% mineral sunscreen, my skin is light enough that it blends in but also dark enough for someone to tell that my skin tone looks off (sort of like a white cool-toned tint to my warm skin?). In other words, I just look a bit paler than usual and it looks unnatural. With this sunscreen, I don't have to think about if you can see it on my skin or if it's not blended. I usually put on more sunscreen than suggested (just to be safe), and this glides on extremely easily over my skin ( and I also didn't notice any scent/an unpleasant chemical smell). It is a bit slippery (no oils are in this, just silicones), but your skin will feel soft after rubbing it in. Speaking of which, you don't need to put in a lot of effort to apply! I had recently gotten jaw surgery and had switched to a different sunscreen (chemical, but had a white color that disappeared after rubbing in). I had incisions on the left and right side of my bottom jaw, which sunscreen would be necessary to prevent scarring, and I found that I had trouble rubbing in my sunscreen (walking into harsh lighting, I'd see white along the sides of my jaw from not blending well enough). I switched to this instead and had no problem, nor did I have to worry about having any weird coloring. The finish is a soft matte, almost similar to the Fenty Pro Filter Instant Retouch Primer. No cast if rubbed in well. Does leave a little if just applied without rubbing in. Feels like ur not wearing it even when putting on recommend amount. Does wear well with most foundations but can cause a little residue depending. I use little amount of covergirl milk. It is pretty scentless and can sting the eyes a little if sweating but over all its my fav for face so far. It's not too expensive and goes a long way. I haven't burned with this at all and I believe it's one of the better choices. I've not had any reaction and I have combination skin. I'd definitely repurchasemary.d
Can be worn under makeup. No white cast, no oily sheen or pilling under makeup. I used this every day for 10 years. However, there are much better sunscreens with better formulations nowadays. Asian sunscreens are much more cosmetically elegant and much lighter on the skin, with technology allowing them to adhere to skin better. There are also new mineral sunscreens that no longer leave a white cast. But if you're in a pinch or your favorite sunscreen has run out, this Neutrogena sunscreen is readily available everywhere, and it will do. Better than no sunscreen, at all!z.q
At first, this was my holy grail sunscreen. It doesn’t sting your eyes, nor does it have a white cast. I’ve used this for about 2-3 months until I realized that it’s been making my face look dry instead of glowy like I wanted. If you have dry skin, this may not be the right sunscreen for you, but if you have oily skin, this does a great job at minimizing any oil. Aside from that, I noticed that the product in my bottle became super liquidy and separated into a white liquid and an oil. I know sunscreen is supposed to separate at times, but even when I shake my bottle, it won’t mix together. This may be a sign I have to throw it out, so be aware of this possibly happening.Shelby

I am an avid SPF wearer throughout the year and always apply factor 50 to my face. I have tried tens, if not hundreds, of facial SPFs and this one really does stand up to many others I’ve tried. The tube is a generous size, the packaging is cute but more importantly it offers broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection. I love that the packaging lists that it is water resistant up to 80 minutes, as I find instructions on these products can often not give accurate information on when to reapply. The product is vegan, hypoallergenic and has no fragrance so it doesn’t break me out like some others do. The formula has no oil and it doesn’t exacerbate my oily skin, which is a problem I often suffer with. The texture is a nice lightweight lotion and it applies easily and absorbs quickly. I am taking 2 stars off for the issue I had which was pilling mostly. The formula balled right up and essentially chunked up as I rubbed it in. I always applied to a clean and dry face and it happened each time. I tried different methods such as rubbing in, using my hand to swipe in one singular direction, applying and patting in. I tried increasing and decreasing the amount I put on at any single application and the problems always occurred. I am taking off 1 star for the lack of response from Sun Bum. It's been several weeks now since I sent a message wanting to express my concern and inquire as to whether there was maybe a bad batch or to see if there were other solutions for me. I didn't hear anything back unfortunately. I wanted to wait till I heard back to leave a review because I do believe that customer service is part of the good and bad of any product. The 2 stars I have given this product are for its lack of fragrance and irritants – this is important to me when using a sunscreen on my face and near my eyes, nostrils, and mouth. And my favorite part of this formula and why I so desperately wanted it to work was it's lightness, this consistency is one of the best and I'd be sold for life on this product if it continued to have this light and milky consistency but without the issues I experienced. I am vacationing in FL for 2 months, and I am not someone who sits under a tent on the beach and never strays into the water. I spend a lot of time in the water, and my 57 year old skin and hair need a lot of help. I now have now bought 5 of your products: Original Surf Paste, Original Sunscreen SPF 50, Sunscreen Face Lotion, Face Serum and Cooldown Lotion. Al 5 products are exceptional, and I almost never leave reviews. The sunscreen is literally a joy to spread on, and I hate sunscreen. Normally, after 1 week my skin has little bumps all over it that you can’t see but you can feel. Mineral sunscreen doesn’t do that, but yuck. I have been here almost 3 weeks and no bumps! 😁. This is great, because we might move here in a few years. And the surf paste is great. Don’t know about the SPF level, but my hair is soft and happier than it normally is with extended exposure to sun and salt water. I love the after sun face serum. Very cooling. I originally tried this out after having a reaction to the cult favorite UV Clear–I think my skin disagrees with the niacinimide in that formulation. Anyway, I was happy with the quality of EltaMD, but looking for something more moisturizing for my combination/dry skin and I found it in UV Facial. This is an incredibly moisturizing and rich formula that does not leave a white cast on my pale skin. It will leave an ever so slight shine on your face, which translates to a glow on my skin, so if you are oily or prefer a completely matte look then this product probably isn't for you. I find it wears lovely under my foundation–something that can be a challenge with sunscreens. I love this formula so much but had to knock a star off because of the use of chemical filters. If this sunscreen was purely physical it would be a 5/5 holy grail formulation. I keep testing out all-mineral sunscreens and always come back to this one. If you are on the drier side and don't mind a chemical sunscreen, try this out!roshni.p
I use this as my daily sunscreen! Honestly I haven’t had a lot of luck with many sunscreens because of white-cast, oiliness, etc, but this one has been the best formula of the ones I’ve tried in the past. It’s a lightweight formula but you can definitely feel it on your face for the first 20 minutes after applying. It definitely protects your skin and it feels like a clean product, and not too heavy. It has a slight white-cast that goes away after a minute of rubbing in. My only downsides are that it leaves an oily/glossy finish (which I personally dislike) and that it pills with other products. The gloss isn’t terrible, you can certainly cover it up with some powder, but not too bad alone. It definitely can pill so I have opted out from using it with makeup or serums. I keep my morning skincare routine very minimal (just wash and moisturize) so that this sunscreen will not pill. I’ve had it pill before with the cerave vitamin c serum. But it definitely works overall so 4 stars 🙂alexis.f
I have literally tried over 20 sunscreens. Finding one that checks all the boxes ingredient wise and that had a nice finish is nearly impossible. Actually, this is the only sunscreen that has met all my criteria. It also makes my skin look and feel amazing. I have acne prone skin, I’m combo oily, I don’t like feeling anything on my face, and I enjoy makeup. I’m also on a retinoid. I have been using this sunscreen for over a year, and continue to come back to it when I go exploring to see if there’s something better. So far, there isn’t! The finish is natural. It’s not too shiny and not too matte. It literally just makes my skin look healthy and moisturized but not oily at all. There is absolutely no white cast. It does not pill under any makeup I’ve tried. It layers up beautifully. I’ve reapplied 3 times in a day and it manages to stay silky and not cakey on my skin. It does have a very mild, pleasant scent- which is great because I hate fragrances in products or ones that smell naturally of battery acid. It does not sting around my eyes AT ALL. It also has the added benefits of improving my skin texture and look of my complexion. Though it doesn’t add coverage, per say, I can go without my powder foundation when wearing this. I find sunscreen to be seriously overpriced for how important it is, and this is half of what I usually pay. This has mixed reviews. I don't find it pills the way others complained, but I didn't use a bunch of serums just my usual vitamin c. This says it's moisturizing, but also mattifying and I can usually use sunscreen lotion as my lotion in the summer on my oily/combo skin but found I needed a light moisturizer with this. I don't know about cream to powder, whatever that means, but it was harder to rub in to get rid of the white cast and I am super pale. I cannot recommend this for anyone who isn't pale for that reason. This is supposed to be unscented, but it smells a bit like powder but it fades. It didn't irritate me or break me out. I usually wear a higher SPF if I'm really out in the sun, I just wear this walking around my neighborhood and I've been into wearing hats since reaching my early thirties and in that case this works fine. I like the price and that it's inexpensive, but I don't love the white cast and I have to wear with moisturizer so that makes a more expensive option that doesn't require moisturizer not as big a deal. So I don't think I'd repurchase this, but I will finish the tube.

I have been using it a few months now I genuininely like it, I was worried at first because I know mineral sunscreen can be really tricky. Some reviews have complained about pilling and I haven't noticed that at all. When I apply the sunscreen, I shake it vigorously, place a small dollop (about 1/2 tbsp), rub it a little between my fingers, let my fingers warm it up a little bit, dot it around my face, and then I start to spread it evenly. I do notice that it initially feels a little granular at first, but as I gently spread it around my face the white cast and granularity go away. Once it's set in, my skin does have a soft satin-y feel (similar to the feeling when I use a silicone based primer for my make up) and then after a minute or so my skin feels regular. So I'm not sure if people are just not rubbing it in enough or letting it warm up (I have read from dermatologists that warming up mineral sunscreens helps a lot with the application). I also wash my face and apply a light moisturizer before I apply the sunscreen. Basically in my experience it takes a smidge more time to apply the sunscreen, but I would say overall positive. My skin doesn't feel like i'm wearing a layer of sunscreen which is really nice.Diana

So I'm not sure if people are just not rubbing it in enough or letting it warm up (I have read from dermatologists that warming up mineral sunscreens helps a lot with the application). This was my first time trying a sunscreen from this brand and I was not that impressed. I got this one and the non-tinted version of this, and both were just not that great. They don't sit well over certain moisturizers (I use cerave cream) and can pill/bunch up depending on the skincare you have underneath. The tint on this claims to be universal, but it was noticeably darker compared to my natural skintone. I'm Asian with light/fair skin (Fitzpatrick type 2), and the color difference was so obvious. I applied this to my face and neck, and it was so dark compared to my chest. I was confused because reviews with lighter skin said the tint was fine, but it might also be that people don't apply an appropriate amount for proper spf coverage. The tint on this is really suited for those who are a solid medium/tan skintone. This is also not dark-skinned friendly (I had my friend try it out), as it leaves you looking ghostly. Also, the smell is similar to that of rubber tires. I do like that it's spf 50 and lightweight, but the cons heavily outweigh the pros for me that I would not find myself ever purchasing this again.Kev
Recently with the influx of skincare and makeup videos on apps like Instagram and tik tok, I've been seeing so many things about sunscreen and sun protection. I'm only 25 but I've started to notice some fine lines and signs of sun damage since I'm quite pale and fair skinned, which is all the more reason for me to use this. I've tried other sunscreens for the face but most of them leave a white cast or make my skin feel even more oily than it already is, or even pill up on dry areas. That was until I went searching for the best face sunscreen and found this. At first I was hesitant because of the price, and thought about it for a few months. I mean $37 for sunscreen is definitely a lot, but to those wondering if it's worth it: it definitely is. This sunscreen is absolutely amazing, it's light, fluid, makes me feel like I'm wearing nothing at all, and best of all leaves NO WHITE CAST!!! I love knowing that I'm protected and the spf 50 is great for someone like me with super pale skin. The only issue I have with it is that it does leave my face looking a little oily but usually I'll just put a bit of powder on and it looks normal. I would definitely be interested in trying something that has a more matte finish, if available. Also I will say if you use the recommended amount of sunscreen daily you will go through this bottle pretty quick. It lasted about 3-4 weeks for me, so it could be worth investing in a backup sunscreen that's cheaper, but overall I love this sunscreen it's the best one I've tried yet!!Cccmp
I'm so glad I decided to try this particular sunscreen from La Roche-Posay {already being happy with, -and using their SPF50 for children for both me and my son} wanting something that felt a bit lighter for the face and neck especially. I have very sensitive, reactive skin prone to redness {not diagnosed but ticks every box for Rosacea} and not only does this sunscreen not cause any irritations whatsoever, but my skin seem calmer and happier since I've started using this nearly daily and I've had no flare ups and putting it on. There's not even a hint of redness {that can even be brought on by my kind moisturiser that is great for me otherwise}. Anyone with finicky skin knows that this in itself is so nice to find, – but not only have I had these results every time for weeks now, but it also seem to make my make up look and last b e t t e r, which I find hard to expect from a sunscreen. So much so that I've stopped using a primer before make up application {and rather just use this sunscreen and then a cc cream and some translucent mineral veil, and I have had more compliments on my skin than ever}. The consistency is quite runny and light, but I find that to be a great feature for a sunscreen for the face as it melts in with no white cast whatsoever. It stays a bit tacky to the touch {and skin looks healthy 'glowy' on me}, which I now only appreciate as that might be what then has make up sit well on top too. I haven’t used it during summer yet, which is when I experience the most oiliness, but so far this moisturizer really makes a difference. I’ve been trying to find a moisturizer with an SPF of 30 or more for a while and haven’t loved anything. I live in the Arizona desert, so it’s still been in the low 100s when I started using this in September, but I haven’t experienced any oily shine during the day once like I usually do all year round. It feels pleasantly moisturizing after I put it on and has no white cast, but I have really fair skin. It has a light sunscreen scent, but I love that smell, and it hasn’t affected how my makeup applies. So far, this is definitely a winner for me.Genatelafui
I assumed bc the brand is differin it would have acne fighting ingredients but it just has normal sunscreen ingredients listed. Consistency is also more watery than most spf moisturizers. The one good thing is it absorbs pretty matte (no shiny forehead so far). And yes, it smells like sunscreen. I read several reviews before buying so I was wary of it making my eyes tear up and at first thought I was in the clear. Good thing I hadn’t put on any eye makeup yet bc after a few minutes of putting it all over face and eyelids (not a problem w the other two spf moisturizers I’ve used) my eyes started watering like crazy. I don’t have sensitive eyes so I can’t imagine how this experience might be for people who have probs w mascara making their eyes water. This product rly needs to be discontinued until the formulation is changed bc your eyelid skin is so delicate it needs spf like the rest of your face. Pros: – ingredients look great – pump is very convenient – texture is light and comfortable, something like a thin cream/lotion, so quite light and feels nice on the skin – helps to keep my oily areas less shiny than with normal moisturizers/sunscreens. Cons: – it burns and stings to put on my sensitive skin (I use adapalene and benzoyl peroxide, so I was really expecting this product to be formulated for users like me). This feeling goes away eventually but if I rub/scratch/touch my face at all, I feel the burning again. – it is very irritating to the eyes! While some chemical sunscreens work great around the eye area, this one did not stay put and must have gotten into my eyes. This causes itchiness, tingling, watery eyes and I jut had to wash the product off and apply a different one. Overall, this is disappointing because I was expecting a product formulated specifically for the sensitive skin caused by topical medications like adapalene, but it is just another moisturizer + SPF. Neutrogena’s Invisible Daily Defense Sunscreen Lotion broad spectrum SPF 30 is such a pleasant product to use. First off this lotion provides superior broad spectrum UVA/ UVB protection with antioxidant to help fight environmental aggressors such as cold, ozone, and pollution. My first impression- I love the mild fruity scent! The formula is nice and light, rubs in 100% without any white residue sitting on my skin. It feels hydrating to skin, almost like applying lotion. And to me it’s important that this product is non- comedogenic. This sunscreen has worked very well for me, providing great everyday protection for sun and environment. Literally horrible. I wish I would’ve read the reviews before purchasing. Usually do but I was out of town and picking up some essentials from Target and came across this and hardly read it… saw 60 and “NEW” so I figured I’d try it. I usually like Neutrogena sunscreens and they’re a pretty safe option. Not this one. All of the reviews say “not for face” and I wish I would’ve read that prior to using on my face! The skin on my face is horribly irritated- puffy eyes and very dry scaly skin under my eyes… dried out my skin very badly. Do not use this on your face. Probably safe on the rest of your body but I’m not even willing to try. This is day 3 of not using this sunscreen and my face is still irritated and puffy. Weird orange tint to sunscreen and not sure why that is necessary. Kind of pricey but I overlooked the price because I know Neutrogena is typically good.kbraz
Been using this for a few months now and can say that I love it. Like it says for me it does not cause breakouts which has been an issue in the past with many facial sunscreens. That's why I waited a while to review I wanted to put this through the ringer. So I'm about to give you an in depth review of my usage over the last few months. First off this does go nicely over many many many facial products and treatments as I have a whole repertoire of products that I've used or tested or tried out for the sake of it. And this applies nicely. I like to warm it up in my hands and then press onto my face and rub in like you would a moisturizer and make sure to get your ears as well. It does not leave a white cast on my face which is nice and doesn't feel oily or greasy because it's oil free. It can feel a bit gritty for some reason but I've gotten past that it's all good. I aloow it to sink in for about a good 10 minutes if I'm doing makeup and then I begin my routine. Have not had any problems doing makeup with this underneath as well. Works fantastic. The only reason I give this 4 stars is because if you have a face full of makeup and you'd like to reapply this is not it! Because as we know 2 hour application is best if you're out and about in the sun. Which usually I am all day. So I'd recommend a spray product or a powder product for an alternative. Now if you're going natural for the day even though we don't like makeup wipes maybe carry some miceller wipes and wipe your face down and reapply to prevent product build up which even though this is breakout and oil free if you're reapplying as directed. Imagine a 12 hour day you'd be reapplying 6 times that's a lot of product going onto your face to be cleansed off at the end of the day. This is why some form of wipes stay within my reach for easy cleaning to make reapplication a breeze and end of the day cleansing a bit easier. But I only recommend this if you have or know a brand that works for you. My friend who also works outside and is religious about sunscreen uses a facial cleaning water product and reusable cotton pads. But overall. I bought this while on vacation in FL and now I love it. I have been trying to find a sunscreen that works for me and this does. I have eczema and very sensitive skin but this doesn’t irritate me. My eyes are also very sensitive and I’m usually fine with this if I apply lightly around my eyes. The white cast is not great but if I rub it in for 30-60 seconds and follow with a blending brush I can get it to go away but I’m also very pale. When you sweat it can turn white (I had that happen in FL) so watch for that but for everyday use that’s not an issue for me. I despise when products pill on my face as many sunscreens do but that hasn’t been an issue for me. I also look very shiny with some other sunscreens and I don’t love that but this one finishes down much less shiny I wouldn’t say it’s matte though. So far it’s been one of my favorites. I finished a bottle of this around 1.5 to 2 years ago. It was one of the first few (10?) mineral sunscreens I tried with when I first learned about the sensitive skin safe sun filters. I could finally start to wear sunscreen without crying! Previously, I forgoed daily SPF because it would give me rashes, make my face burn (sting) and give me eye irritation. Since trying more mineral sunscreens (because who doesn’t go through a phase of obsessively trying all the mineral sunscreens you can get out there when trying to find a daily mineral SPF?), I have realized this isn’t a very good sunscreen. Using the proper amount, my face would be quite white/blue/purple? And that’s the white cast on someone fair (fair as in the lightest shade of concealer is a bit to too dark for me- fair). I can’t imagine the white cast from this SPF working on anybody, I wore it with a full face of makeup. The zinc (even with shaking the bottle to mix it) is a bit gritty and could irritate my skin when I was applying it. It clung to dry patches, and on top of that caused flaking and further dehydration. Dry skin and this sunscreen just do not mesh. The formula is super liquidy and not moisturizing at all. I think this would work well with oily skin types, but can not vouch as my skin is super dry.
I have been using this as my daily face sunscreen for over a decade. I have tried other brands and no other brand compares. I am asian with a pale complexion and don’t wear makeup. I like this because: 1. Goes on quickly and blends quickly 2. Makes my complexion look better – more even toned; reduces visibility of age spots 3. Does not get greasy or make my face shine as the day goes on 4. Provides good all day protection – used at amusement parks, on the beach in Hawaii I would cry if they stopped making this. i initially was super exited about this spf from hearing so many great things about it, but after trying it for myself i was dissatisfied. i want to start by saying this is just how it worked for me and my skin and judging by how many people love this product, it still might be a good option for you, but personally it’s not good for my skin. First off i was a little disappointed by the size of this product, but that’s not a huge deal since they list the size on the website, so that’s more on me. But when i out it on i noticed it was very streaky and didn’t sink into the skin well. It also left a white cast (which i normally don’t have issues with since i have a lighter complexion) and a few hours after wearing this i noticed it had started to pill up on my face.shelly
After reading reviews I was so excited to try this sunscreen. It took a long time to arrive (first package got lost in the mail and they had to send me a second one). When it did arrive I did not notice much difference between my current drugstore face sunscreen and this product even though my drugstore sunscreen is less than half the price. I wouldn't say this sunscreen is "greasy" but it definitely leaves a shine. I didn't experience a white cast and there is not an intense smell which are all good. It did not go that well under makeup which is one of the main reasons I bought it, I saw reviews saying it was even a "primer" but did not work well for me in this department. i have very oily skin and i’m obsessed with sustainable beauty, so i was excited to have a lightweight sustainable spf (the daily is a bit too heavy for my liking). at first i loved this; it did pill a bit, but if i blended quickly and waited ten minutes before doing makeup it was fine. it’s lightweight and hydrating and truly an spf “fluid.” however, i noticed these relentless little bumps around my mouth, where i was clear before. after some research i found that the mouth area is a prime place for “fungal” acne, and that an emulsifier in this spf (glyceryl stearate SE) is a major fungal acne trigger. i stopped using and my skin cleared up so quickly. for anyone experiencing this: turmeric and ginger clear fungal acne, so i’ve been using the turmeric mask stick which has helped tremendously. the search for a sustainable spf for oily girls continues.gabby

I received this product for free, but am glad to have received it as I was curious to try a new sunscreen. I tested this product over the span of 2 weeks, and it did not break me out. I have dry-acne prone skin, which has made it a bit challenging to find products (especially sunscreen) that hydrates, but doesn't break me out. This product applies easily, however it does leave a white cast right away. It takes quite a bit of blending, and I would say 10 minutes or so after application for the white cast to disappear. However, I do have fair skin so the cast may be more visible on other complexions. The sunscreen has a slightly sweet almost vanilla smell while applying. I don't really smell it too much on my face afterward, but I don't think it would be good for those who are sensitive to skincare products with scents. After application, the sunscreen leaves a dewy and hydrated finish/touch. Although it is nice for my dry skin, I do wish it dried down a bit more as I don't love the sensation of my hands feeling dewy after touching my skin, which is why I rated this product a 4 instead of a 5. For those who have oilier skin you may want to set this product with a powder. Overall, I think once I'm finished this bottle I will purchase this product for a daily sunscreen when I'm in the house as the SPF is 30.meagan

It doesn't have that traditional yucky sunscreen smell or feel either. It really does have that weightless mineral feel to it. That's a huge bonus for me! I was selected to try the Hawaiin Tropic Weightless Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 for free in exchange for my honest opinion and it couldn't have come at a better time! Now that Spring is finally here, I have been spending much more time outside in the yard, going for walks, at the playground with my daughter and etc. This sunscreen is so easy to use and is less greasy and more like a lotion than the sunscreens that I have used in the past. Even though it is a milky lotion sunscreen, it doesn't leave that dreaded white film on my skin that I am used to as well with other sunscreens. The sunscreen absorbs easily into the skin and is easily spreadable making application easy and effortless. Although I wish it offered a little more than SPF 30 for the summer months when the sun is more prominent, the SPF 30 rating is good for Spring days. I love that the sunscreen is free from chemicals and parabens and is also cruelty free! My favorite part about this sunscreen is that it is both sweat and water resistant for approximately 80 mins! Reapplication is needed only after sweating/being in water after 80 mins or 2 hours if just spending the day outside. It smells tropically which is also a nice change from other sunscreens I have used in the past which makes me actually want to reapply it! I applied the sunscreen 15-20 mins before heading outside and found coverage to be good until I was ready to come back in. I will definitely continue to purchase and use this sunscreen and would recommend it to anyone who hates the smell and white film left over by many other brands. i have tan olive skin and have been seeing awesome reviews on all of supergoop's sunscreens! i have been using a chemical sunscreen for a while. i'm 20 weeks pregnant and switched over to a 100% mineral sunscreen! i have never had any mineral sunscreen to blend out nicely on my skin tone and to not leave any white cast, but this mineral sunscreen is super sheer!! i couldn't believe it! i love that it is clean, vegan, and great for acne and sensitive pregnancy skin! just wish the bottle was bigger because this sunscreen is more on the high end of price ranges but delivers superb quality! i finally found a mineral sunscreen i can feel confident in wearing daily! also does not leave my face looking greasy, gives it a nice glow! it can also be used as a primer for under your makeup! possibly the best sunscreen ever.kirsten
The trick with this sunscreen if you are a POC. Is to incorporate tapping instead of rubbing it into your skin. Rubbing can sometimes irritate your skin and leave a weird feeling or dark color after application. Instead, when you apply play with it a little bit. Tap it around your whole face, I've found that it applies better and leaves a clear dewy finish. You will feel it somewhat on your face but minimal, compared to other mineral sunscreens. This is a great choice if you're looking for a mineral sunscreen that goes on sheer. Again, if you just rub it around it might leave a white cast. But if you tap with your fingers and the palm of your hand to help apply on your face, you won't be left with a white cast.jewel.b
I love this sheer spf! I have really dry skin but I hate the feel of spf for dry skin as it feels like it just sits on my skin. I also have tried spf for oily skin and love that there is no feeling of it being on my skin, but they dry my skin even more. This is the perfect medium for me. I’m pretty pale and this has a barely noticeable white cast on me only for a few minutes. It’s slightly hydrating and gives my skin a really beautiful glow without the oily feel. It’s a dream to reapply too. I spend the day outside during peak sun hours sometimes and I reapply this every 2 hours and I experience no pilling and no added greasyness that some spf can get. At the end of the day my face looks glowy and radiant but feels like i have a moisturizer on. It is slightly sticky for maybe 20-30 minutes after applying but well worth it for me. I did see some reviews talking about the smell and it’s really not that bad these people must use heavily fragranced products because this smells earthy and natural to me. This is a really great tinted sunscreen. I wouldn’t apply it every 2 hours like suggested for sunscreens however this is my new daily go to foundation/moisturizer and sunscreen all in one. I love it! The texture has a nice creamy feel to it that soaks into my skin and doesn’t just sit on it or build up. I am 47 and my skin is showing signs of aging. Make up seems to just make all the little signs of aging even worse! With this, it soaks into my skin moisturizing it and leaving a nice tint that compliments my skin well. I don’t get any lines cakiness or residue from it like regular foundations. I love that it is specifically made for my face! EltaMD UV Restore is a 100% mineral sunscreen that claims to improve sun-damaged skin. It contains Squalane, Ginger Root Extract and Saccharide Isomerate which helps with skin smoothness, minimizes dark spots and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also contains antioxidants and protects your skin from UV light and free radicals. Does it do all of this, I can’t say for sure but so far, I am seeing more positive results than negative (actually no negative) so I will continue using this product. Honestly, I haven’t seen any negative results. Not even any breakouts which is unusual for me. In summary, I do recommend EltaMD UV Restore for all women young and old. It is never too early to start protecting your face and skin from the sun and all of the other environmental hazards we face today. Especially with all of the UV light we are exposed to today. I really enjoy this formula but I have a few caveats with it. I find it to be gentle and nonirritating on my dry, sensitive skin. The ginger root extract does tingle when first applied but the sensation subsides. It is a fragrance-free formula which I really like (you can kind of smell the ginger root extract at first but it is not noticeable). When reading the reviews of this SPF, I noticed many people mentioning the white cast. I have a lightly pigmented skin tone so I decided to purchase the tinted version in case I needed to mix the two together. It was quite an investment, but I am satisfied with the way the sunscreen looks mixed together. The regular version alone creates too much of a white cast on my complexion. But when used in conjunction with the Tinted version, I find it to look more natural (3 pumps tinted and 1 pump regular covers my face, neck, and hands). When first applied, it does look a little shiny but since my skin is so dry the shininess does not last long and I normally apply the EltaMD Face & Body lotion on top. I do not use foundation or other makeup so I am unsure of how it may react to other products. But in my experience, the texture and application is great and a little product goes a long way. I received the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Moisturizing Face Serum Sunscreen complimentary from Home Tester Club in exchange for my honest opinion. The first thing I noticed was the simple yet quality packaging. The dispenser has no top but it doesn't need one. Just twist to open and twist to close. Great for travel, yes? The creamy fragrace free facial serum goes on nicely and isn't at all greasy. I love it because two steps are united into one. It is a wonderful moisturizer and sunscreen all in one. I bought this product hoping to find a US alternative to a JP product, but this did not make the cut. First, I avoid dimethicone in all skincare as I have oily skin and it seems to make it worse. My own mistake, I didn't realize this contains dimethicone. Second, and the biggest problem, I had a severe reaction to this product. A few hours after applying (tried it two separate times) my eyes became watering and swollen. This lasted for nearly 12 hours, even after washing my face. My partner also had the same problem. Neither of us were really outside sweating or swimming. I would say I have fairly sensitive, fair-ish skin, but I also am used to a sunscreen that contains alcohol and have little no allergies otherwise.Miko

I like how it feels on my skin. I am enjoying using it when I don't wear makeup and it acts as a makeup primer when I do. I will purchase and add to my skin care routine for this Winter. The first sunscreen I have liked enough to finish the bottle. The best thing about it is that it's light enough that you can't feel it on your face- it doesn't stay greasy or rub off on everything you own (like some other mineral sunscreens do) so it is very practical for every day usage. As for the cast, I am light skinned with neutral undertones and it does leave a slight blue-ish cast on my face. It is not bad though and if you rub it in all the way it is hardly noticeable. If you notice no cast at all you are not using nearly enough and not getting the full SPF 30. I would recommend removing this before reapplying because at the end of the day if you have several layers on your face from reapplication, I found that if I scratch my face even lightly that it collects so much product under my fingernails. Additionally, if it gets in my hair it kind of gets stuck and then flakes at the end of the day. This is why I give it 4 stars instead of 5, and also because I wish it came in higher SPF as well. I'm looking for the most practical and convenient sunscreen for every day use and I think this is the best at this price point. I finished the bottle in about a month and a half- that is with daily use on my face and neck with at least two reapplications (two finger lengths worth of product each time).christinemaie
I just got this and I know it’s a winner. I purchased the Biossance mineral sunscreen and I didn’t care for it, mainly because it did not absorb into my skin (think layer of cream) and would run off my face when I’d sweat. Not cute :/ or comfortable. So I decided to switch to Dr. Dennis Gross and let me tell you… it absorbs into my skin like a dream, leaves no white cast (I have a light olive complexion), and the packaging is yellow! (I like yellow). I’m joking about the packaging, I’m sure there is more to love, but I can’t think of anything else at the moment. My main concerns are absorption and no white cast and those are met. Maybe in a few weeks I’ll see if there is a difference in my skin. The only thing though is the price. Yes, it’s higher than I’d like, but at the same time it is a quality sunscreen and in a skincare routine the sunscreen is the most important step… so I guess I’ll let it slide. For reference, I have normal to dry skin, packed with hyperpigmentation, pores and fine lines because I didn’t take the proper care/protection when I was young. I thought that I was not going to like this sunscreen but I actually do, and a lot! PROS: – Physical sunscreen: even being a full physical sunscreen, it doesn’t leave too much of a white cast. – It doesn’t irritate my eyes: because of being a physical sunscreen, I can apply it around my eyes and over my lids. Chemical sunscreens irritate my eyes. – Lightweight and easy to apply. – It worked well under my makeup but I needed to use a matte finish foundation to compensate the glowy finish that the sunscreen left on my skin (I apply quite a lot to get the SPF advertised) – It has some skincare ingredients but I don’t rely on my sunscreen to get what my aging skin needs (other than the SPF, of course) – Non scented formula: it doesn’t have any perfumes so it is perfect for any sensitive face out there – Reef safe. – Clean at Sephora. CONS – It is quite pricey, and that’s the only reason to give only 4 stars. – Applying liberally, as the brand recommends and as every sunscreen should be applied to get the level of protection in the label, you will end up with a very glowy finish. It still works with my makeup but I have to avoid glowy foundations or it would be too much glow.
