I'm sure this product has good SPF and does its job, but the application is lacking. The pump dispenses WAY too much product. It's difficult to control; if you're too far away, you're probably not getting enough coverage; if you're too close, you look like you dunked your head in baby powder. Furthermore, it's light in color. I have very dark hair with greys coming in, and this stuff makes me look even more grey. I also understand that if the powder were dark like my hair, it would probably tint and stain my scalp, and if you cleaned it off, you wouldn't be protected anymore. So I see the problem with making it darker; it may be an unsolvable problem. Still, the application can probably be tweaked. Powder is hard to work with – there has to be a way, though, to dispense it correctly without propelling it at your head at 20mph. I'll keep practicing and tweaking and maybe if I figure it out, I'll buy it again when I run out. I think if I learn to finesse the application, it will be a good product, so I'm not castigating it here, but it's not a superstar.
This product came out straight up orange on my head. It dyed my blonde hair orange and my scalp orange too. It literally did not even come off when I showered AND shampooed my hair. I've ALWAYS had issues with my scalp getting burned. I have fine blonde hair so walking in daylight without coverage or protection for my head is always asking for a burn sadly. I was so excited when this product came out, because I'd love to not have to wear a hat all the time. I took this product with me to France for two weeks and it definitely did its job of protecting my scalp, so thank you! I only have two complaints: 1) The application is very messy. Perhaps the spray method needs to be adjusted? Or maybe its user error, but the stuff gets everywhere when I apply. 2) My hair feels SUPER stiff and straw-like when using and takes at least 2 separate showers/shampoo rounds to get out completely. This product does well for protection from sunburn but is unpleasant to use. It is very difficult to activate the spray bottle (you need to apply a lot of force to a very specific area, which is hard to do with one hand) and the spray itself leaves a weird, sticky residue that pills on your skin. This sunscreen is also very difficult to wash off in the shower. I bought this with the hope that it would be a more convenient alternative to cream-style sunscreen, but it ended up being a bigger hassle. I would not recommend this product.Opposite of nourishing
This is my absolute favorite sunscreen for my body! I use Korean sunscreens for my face/decolletage/hands, and then this for everything else. I keep one in my bathroom, one by the door, and another in my bag so I always have it available to reapply. I have melasma that usually fades to mild in the winter (I live in a MN, so not much time spent in the sun during these months) and then, despite religious sunscreen and hat use, gets progressively worse through the summer to the point that even with make up on, I have had people comment on it thinking my face is dirty, etc. I bought this sunscreen about 3 weeks ago because I was reading an article about the best sunscreens for this problem. I am blown away – all progression has stopped and I think it is actually looking better than it did 3 weeks ago. This is even after a day like today where it was 98F and I was outside all day – with my previous mineral based sunscreen, it wouldn't matter what I did, I would come home looking like I rubbed dirt all over my upper lip and cheeks. I am in my mid-seventies and I have light toned, dry skin with mild rosacea. Consequently, I only use physical sunscreens on my face, neck, and chest. My dermatologist originally gave me samples of the untinted Actinica and the tinted Ageless. Because my skin is quite light and I don't rely on sunscreen or makeup for skin care, I was immediately drawn to the Actinica which has since then become my HG sunscreen. It apples smoothly, evenly and, when it sets, it provides a soft-focus matte finish that acts as a wonderful primer for foundation. Actinica does not leave a white cast like the old versions of physical sunscreens or like the inferior products that are in the drugstores. When first applied, there is a very slight white cast which completely disappears as the product sets. No Casper the Ghost glow with this product! Be sure to shake it up before using so the ingredients are evenly distributed. And, drawing the lines on the fingers is a clever way to get the right amount if you're just doing your face. Personally, I do four finger lines because of the larger area I need to cover. All considered, this is a superior formulation that is well worth the hype and the cost. I've been using the full size of Actinica for the past month and can't say enough good things about it.Eileen
I give this 3½ stars. I got this when it was 20% off after reading countless celebrities, beauty editors, dermatologists and estheticians go on and on about how great this brand is. It's 100% mineral, has a high SPF of 50 and supposedly in addition to preventing aging also heals signs of aging. I don't need the second part yet, though I just hit my early thirties and have upped my preventative aging skincare. This is really expensive at $66 for for 3.4oz, so anything on the pricer side I'm going to be tougher on for my review. This is a more liquid texture than lotion, like a serum. Honestly in the summer when my combo skin is oilier I appreciate that it's not heavy. It lists fragrance in it's ingredients and it has like a sunscreen but not as strong smell at first, but then it smells like nothing which I appreciate because I have a sensitivity to fragrance. This is a little dark for my pale skin, though I assumed it would be because most one shade tints are, but I use a primer and color corrector underneath and apply with a damp beauty sponge. I don't know if you can tell in the photo, but due to good sunscreen use my face is paler than my hand. I use this when I'm outside, but not like hiking or at the beach. This is I'm going for my walk type sunscreen. I do like this, it applies well despite being too dark (and I don't how it'd look or if you would notice the tint on darker tones) so that's a negative and I like that it gives me a bit of coverage. It absorbs well and hydrates without making me oily. However the price is so high I don't think I can justify repurchasing even on sale. Though that being said, it's less than La Roche-Posay Anthelios Mineral tinted ultra light sunscreen fluid SPF 50 (tag) which is $36.99 for half the size of this one. Especially on sale this is several dollars less. That being said I do like this sunscreen. I don't really know if it's really actually doing more for me than the tinted sunscreen that I get at a third of the price though.

I will say I appreciate the matte texture of this sunscreen. However, the color is way too dark. I look completely orange when I put this on my face. The other problem I have is that it pills no matter what I put underneath. I also find it to dry out my skin by the end of the day. I use a strong retinoid every night and I don't love the flaking. Had to return this one.
I use this all summer and have started to use it in winter also- just a smaller amount. It states it is a “primer” and I normally don’t use a primer because I don’t wear foundation but I just use this as I would a tinted moisturizer. I use a serum beforehand and the Tizo on top. I then use a loose powder over, like bare minerals mineral veil. The Tizo blurs pores, adds a really nice color to my fair complexion, and is a matte finish. A little goes a long way! It was originally recommended to me by my dermatologist.JDavis
This “primer” has a good texture and it’s good under makeup. I like that it’s all mineral and spf 40, higher than most primers. However, this tint is not universal and should come in different shades. I am very fair and this tint is much too dark for me. It might work for those with deeper skin tones.

This sunscreen smells amazingggg!! This spray smells the exact same as (the lotion formula of the “dry balance” line). This is a nice sheer spray that provides great coverage. I got the because I wanted an alcohol-free formula but woweeee is it greasy! I would definitely buy this sunscreen again- it’s reasonably priced and the scent is really nice. It does say “soft matte finish” on the bottle and I would say that is misleading- it’s matte FOR a sunscreen- not an actually matte sunscreen.
I have combo leaning oily skin. it is very lightweight, it does reduce shine, looks good under makeup and keeps me protected with the SPF. however, the scent is nauseating. This is my absolute favorite sunscreen ever. I love the smell and how it goes on dry and soaks in immediately. I have always had a hard time finding sunscreen that covers the way I want and also is not greasy. This product does well for protection from sunburn but is unpleasant to use. It is very difficult to activate the spray bottle (you need to apply a lot of force to a very specific area, which is hard to do with one hand) and the spray itself leaves a weird, sticky residue that pills on your skin. This sunscreen is also very difficult to wash off in the shower. I bought this with the hope that it would be a more convenient alternative to cream-style sunscreen, but it ended up being a bigger hassle. I would not recommend this product.Opposite of nourishing

I have used the sunscreen for a couple of days and really pleased so far, as it is so easy to apply and glides on smoothly, plus there is no whitening effect which is amazing for an SPF50. I've been looking for physical sunscreen for a long time and have tried tons of products in the market, mainly because chemical ones make my eyes itchy and sting a lot. This sunscreen is really ideally formulated in a way that it's not so thick on the skin yet provide a radiant glow and enough protection. I bought this after carefully researching sunscreens for safety and efficacy (on Environmental Working Group's website) and then reading product reviews (on iHerb and elsewhere). It was time well spent! This sunscreen has high quality ingredients and a very good safety rating which is important to me. It goes on smoothly and absorbs quickly; as a result it is truly sheer, without any of the telltale whiteness typically associated with zinc oxide. It does not feel heavy on my skin and leaves no trace of oiliness. I love that I can use this all over my body, including my face. The 3 oz size is convenient to tuck into a purse or backpack, and the packaging is secure so this sunscreen travels well. Highly recommended!iHerb Customer
Great product, which doesn't leave a white cast. It also doesn't smell (fragrance free), which is very nice. There's only a soubtle hint of freshness from the ingredients. Since my skin is sensitive and dry, I wear a moisturizer under this. My experience is, that zinc sunscreens can be a bit drying on the skin, even though this one contains shea butter, which is a great moisturizer. It also contains Bisabolol, Calendula, Camomille extract and Coconut oil, which are great ingredients for dry and sensitive skin. I wouldn't recommend this to someone who has oily and/or acne prone skin. The first ingredient might be a bit offputting, since the word "Alcohol" is in it. But it is Arachdyl Alcohol, which is one of the good fatty alcohols, and it is perfectly safe to use on babys. This product is cruelty free, which is a must for me. It is also reef – safe. The packaging is very simple, there's no extra cardboard box, which is good for minimalizing waste. I would say the quality of this product is very good, it's good value for money.iHerb Customer
My skin is sensitive but there is no allergy towards this sunscreen. The quality is good. It's not too greasy but I will make sure I use makeup remover to clean it well. Sometimes, I would only use regular face wash but there is no break out. I would suggest to make sure you clean it well though. The only thing I don't quite like is the smell. This is the worst shiseido sunscreen products that I have ever used. I applied a lot to ensure that was sufficient amount of sunscreen on my skin, but I still got heavily sunburned after 4 days by the seaside. I trusted shiseido so much that I have been a huge fan of anessa for over 10 years, but this product really let me down.Anonymous
I was looking for a sunscreen mist that is light, non-greasy, translucent. This is it. I can apply sunscreen fast, easy and not worry about blending the white caste or staining clothing. The fragrance is really strong but I actually like the smell, so if you are sensitive to smell, I'd avoid this one. I hope it can be sprayed on top of makeup but the product description says that it should not be sprayed directly onto face. I think if I cover my eyes with cotton pads and spray it onto my face directly, it should be fine. I can imagine that it corporates with makeup really well.jung.c
This sunscreen is effective at protecting your skin from the sun and has a much more mild scent than most sunscreens. I find that pleasant bc I don’t enjoy the strong sunscreen scent in most formulas. This works great, but takes quite a few sprays to get full coverage since it’s not a mister, it is a spray bottle. This is a GREAT sunscreen! It blends seamlessly into my skin & leaves a natural glow that hydrates without making my face feel like an oil slick OR a tacky mess like most mineral sunscreens do. It's super lightweight yet effective, so it doesn't feel heavy on skin no matter how many layers I add on over another. The tint itself isn't super duper noticeable but it definitely makes my skin GLOW! It also wears amazingly under makeup & my BB cream, doesn't peel/ball up after application or anything, even throughout the day my skin still looked great with it underneath! Comes out runny but once you rub it into your skin it feels like a dream. It has that "natural/organic" smell to it but tbh it's not bad nor is it strong, so I don't mind & it goes away after you apply it. Definitely don't knock it til you try it!Monika
I am an AVID sunscreen user (very pale and freckles) so I've been on the hunt for a good every day sunscreen to apply in the morning also sometimes putting it under makeup. I have tried so many and this one is now my holy grail! I have an am skincare routine (face wash, hyaluronic acid, vitamin c, moisturizing serum, eye cream, and moisturizer) and this sits so well as my ending product. I don't notice any pilling which was a huge problem for me before. The only time I did notice was it I didn't rub it all the way in or didn't rub it into my hairline. This makes my skin look beautiful and feels amazing. It does have a very light scent but almost a soft powder scent but it doesn't not linger and isn't strong. I'm very pale but I don't notice any white cast that I can see. Amazing!!!AJ
I’ve been looking for a high SPF sunblock after using EltaMD for about 10 years before discovering oxybenzone is bad for your skin. This was my first purchase and I will never buy it again. I digress-the sunblock does not absorb into your skin. It simply sits on top of it and makes you feel greasy. If you remotely begin to sweat (as I do ) it runs down your skin and turns white. The first time it happened someone pulled me aside and told me my makeup was running. Bit, the thing is I don’t wear makeup, just tinted sunblock… I thought maybe I hadn’t rubbed it in enough so I gave it another try. Tonight during my run, another jogger gave me a strange look, so I looked down and discovered a blob of white goo dripping off of me so I looked like my clown makeup was melting off. i initially was super exited about this spf from hearing so many great things about it, but after trying it for myself i was dissatisfied. i want to start by saying this is just how it worked for me and my skin and judging by how many people love this product, it still might be a good option for you, but personally it’s not good for my skin. First off i was a little disappointed by the size of this product, but that’s not a huge deal since they list the size on the website, so that’s more on me. But when i out it on i noticed it was very streaky and didn’t sink into the skin well. It also left a white cast (which i normally don’t have issues with since i have a lighter complexion) and a few hours after wearing this i noticed it had started to pill up on my face.shelly
After reading reviews I was so excited to try this sunscreen. It took a long time to arrive (first package got lost in the mail and they had to send me a second one). When it did arrive I did not notice much difference between my current drugstore face sunscreen and this product even though my drugstore sunscreen is less than half the price. I wouldn't say this sunscreen is "greasy" but it definitely leaves a shine. I didn't experience a white cast and there is not an intense smell which are all good. It did not go that well under makeup which is one of the main reasons I bought it, I saw reviews saying it was even a "primer" but did not work well for me in this department. Overall it is fine sunscreen however I will likely stick w/ my cheaper and equally effective drugstore brand that is also a higher SPF.Emily
i have very oily skin and i’m obsessed with sustainable beauty, so i was excited to have a lightweight sustainable spf (the daily is a bit too heavy for my liking). at first i loved this; it did pill a bit, but if i blended quickly and waited ten minutes before doing makeup it was fine. it’s lightweight and hydrating and truly an spf “fluid.” however, i noticed these relentless little bumps around my mouth, where i was clear before. after some research i found that the mouth area is a prime place for “fungal” acne, and that an emulsifier in this spf (glyceryl stearate SE) is a major fungal acne trigger. i stopped using and my skin cleared up so quickly. for anyone experiencing this: turmeric and ginger clear fungal acne, so i’ve been using the turmeric mask stick which has helped tremendously. the search for a sustainable spf for oily girls continues.gabby

I am happy I found a sunscreen for my scalp- and I LOVE the Sun Bum line overall- but I can't use this every day without a bit of effort. The Scalp Mist doesn't have a waxy or greasy consistency, but it does have a slightly slick feel to it and because I have fine hair, I have to be very careful with how much I use. A few spritzes of dry shampoo helps make my hair look less weighted down, post use, but then the extra shine the product imparts is negated by the dry shampoo. Oh, well. At least I won't have to worry about a burned scalp this summer, and that makes it all worth it as far as I'm concernedeLF
It does leave a bit of a coating on the hair, and it is a bit tough to wash out (like other waterproof sunscreens), but it's easy to use. If you use too much it can look oily, but it's a lot less visible than other hair sunscreens that I've tried. The bottle is small yet the mist is very fine. So far we've used it quite a bit, and there is still plenty left. Though it easily sprayed on the ears and face, I would still use a separate sunscreen that is actually made for the face. Many sunscreens (especially the "Sport" types) make me break out in an allergic rash that lasts for a few days, but I have not had any type of reaction to this product – and that's a big plus.SkyGlass
