I wanted to love this sunscreen so bad. I need a sunscreen that I can trust it would protect my face because I'm using active ingredients at night such as retinol. But I have a couple of issues with it. First, it made my face shine like crazy and I don't like looking greasy. I used a paper towel to absorb some of the oil from my moisturizer before using sunscreen, and I kept trying to blend the sunscreen on my face, but it didn't work. Second, I felt my face heating a little bit while I was driving and when I got to a store my cheeks and forehead were visibly red and irritated. Could be the fragrance, could be the retinol I used the night before, though I washed it off in the morning and didn't see signs of irritation until that point. I want to give it another chance, so I'll use it again when I'm not using retinol at night. Also I might want to try using it without moisturizer, as the ingredients of this sunscreen are very moisturizing.iHerb Customer
I think this is a great sunscreen, wonderfully ligt and refreshing, and easily absorbed even when using two generous layers. The light green tint is supposed to reduce redness – not sure it is very noticeable, but at least it leaves no white cast whatsoever, and looks great on its own or under makeup. The only downside is that it does sting my eyes briefly when I apply it over my face. It doesn't really last, and it's very comfortable afterwards, but for that reason I would only repurchase on sale, as I have a couple other sunscreens that I like as much or better and that don't sting my eyes. I have been trying new sunscreens every time one ends, and this ranks as one of my favorites. I even re-purchased for other family members. Pros: – no white cast at all. It has a green hue but not prominent at all. The moment you blend a little, it dissolves into skin – quality is amazing. very easy to blend and very smooth – texture is not greasy at all. Does not leave a horrible sheen – size seemed small at first, but it actually gave a lot. I think it’ll last me 3-4 months. Cons: – the only reason it is not 5 star is the scent. It has a rosemary essential oil scent. I hate fragrance in my skincare, especially essential oils. However, it is not that disruptive. I keep reusing it. But I prefer it without the scent. Comparisons: I tried American and Korean sunscreens. To me, this has much better quality than Aveeno and Supergoop unseen. And it is less greasy than Thank You Farmer. I originally tried this out after having a reaction to the cult favorite UV Clear–I think my skin disagrees with the niacinimide in that formulation. Anyway, I was happy with the quality of EltaMD, but looking for something more moisturizing for my combination/dry skin and I found it in UV Facial. This is an incredibly moisturizing and rich formula that does not leave a white cast on my pale skin. It will leave an ever so slight shine on your face, which translates to a glow on my skin, so if you are oily or prefer a completely matte look then this product probably isn't for you. I find it wears lovely under my foundation–something that can be a challenge with sunscreens. I love this formula so much but had to knock a star off because of the use of chemical filters. If this sunscreen was purely physical it would be a 5/5 holy grail formulation. I keep testing out all-mineral sunscreens and always come back to this one. I use this as my daily sunscreen! Honestly I haven’t had a lot of luck with many sunscreens because of white-cast, oiliness, etc, but this one has been the best formula of the ones I’ve tried in the past. It’s a lightweight formula but you can definitely feel it on your face for the first 20 minutes after applying. It definitely protects your skin and it feels like a clean product, and not too heavy. It has a slight white-cast that goes away after a minute of rubbing in. My only downsides are that it leaves an oily/glossy finish (which I personally dislike) and that it pills with other products. The gloss isn’t terrible, you can certainly cover it up with some powder, but not too bad alone. It definitely can pill so I have opted out from using it with makeup or serums. I keep my morning skincare routine very minimal (just wash and moisturize) so that this sunscreen will not pill. I’ve had it pill before with the cerave vitamin c serum. I have literally tried over 20 sunscreens. Finding one that checks all the boxes ingredient wise and that had a nice finish is nearly impossible. Actually, this is the only sunscreen that has met all my criteria. It also makes my skin look and feel amazing. I have acne prone skin, I’m combo oily, I don’t like feeling anything on my face, and I enjoy makeup. I’m also on a retinoid. I have been using this sunscreen for over a year, and continue to come back to it when I go exploring to see if there’s something better. So far, there isn’t! The finish is natural. It’s not too shiny and not too matte. It literally just makes my skin look healthy and moisturized but not oily at all. There is absolutely no white cast. It does not pill under any makeup I’ve tried. It layers up beautifully. I’ve reapplied 3 times in a day and it manages to stay silky and not cakey on my skin. It does have a very mild, pleasant scent- which is great because I hate fragrances in products or ones that smell naturally of battery acid. It does not sting around my eyes AT ALL. It also has the added benefits of improving my skin texture and look of my complexion. Though it doesn’t add coverage, per say, I can go without my powder foundation when wearing this. I was waiting for a sale to repurchase urban decay eyeshadow primer in Eden that I had used to the last drop. I noticed this had a silicone texture basically dupe of one of the make up forever face primers so I started putting this on my eyelids and under eyes instead. First of all, zero eye irritation. And second, I kid you not it holds shadow on my oily lids so well! It's not as opaque as Eden but I kind of prefer this because it doesn't accentuate the eyelid wrinkles as much. I do get some creasing, but not till I've had it on for like maybe 12 hours or longer. It can make my combo skin feel dry on the cheeks so I moisturize the cheeks well first. But it does seem to help keep me t zone shine free longer. If the light shade were more warm toned I would love it more, but my skin is neutral-warm so it's acceptable on me. I won't knock a star for that, but it would be great if they came out with one more shade like the Elta MD UV Elements which has a warmer undertone which gives a healthy warm glow. I did try mixing the light and the dark ones but I personally didn't find the shades undertones mixed to complement me. For reference I'm MAC NC 25-30 but more on the neutral side.Jammy
I'm a skincare and sunscreen fanatic. I hate how most sunscreens look under my makeup. But, I have decent skin so I can just use this as my foundation now! I believe that's the under purpose since it is tinted. You need to read ingredients to see if it will separate from your foundation if you plan to later foundation on top. I do not. I bought his because of a tiktok – the girl wearing this had similar skin to my own. Combo skin with some acne and visible pores. It looked so good on her and on mine as well! Please still use moisturizer with this and let it set before applying. Sunscreen is not meant to be moisturizing; so everyone saying it is drying makes me think they are trying to use this without moisturizer. I wear this every day. I used to wear concealer and powder, but now I just wear this. For me it performs so much better than way more expensive tinted sunscreens I've tried. It applies beautifully, doesn't pill even when layered over skincare, and evens out my skin tone without looking like makeup. I have sensitive skin but this doesn't irritate, even around my eyes. Dries matte and helps keep my forehead from becoming too oily throughout the day. I am very pale but the light version works for me, and the tint is flexible enough that it still works when I've been (fake) tanning. It only oxidizes if I don't wash my face at night, but even then I don't look orange, just like I've been tanning. My one complaint is that in the winter the matte finish is a bit too dry around my eyes, which doesn't help my fine lines and can make my eye makeup look a bit cakey as the day goes on. This is a really great tinted sunscreen. I wouldn’t apply it every 2 hours like suggested for sunscreens however this is my new daily go to foundation/moisturizer and sunscreen all in one. I love it! The texture has a nice creamy feel to it that soaks into my skin and doesn’t just sit on it or build up. I am 47 and my skin is showing signs of aging. Make up seems to just make all the little signs of aging even worse! With this, it soaks into my skin moisturizing it and leaving a nice tint that compliments my skin well. I really enjoy this formula but I have a few caveats with it. I find it to be gentle and nonirritating on my dry, sensitive skin. The ginger root extract does tingle when first applied but the sensation subsides. It is a fragrance-free formula which I really like (you can kind of smell the ginger root extract at first but it is not noticeable). When reading the reviews of this SPF, I noticed many people mentioning the white cast. I have a lightly pigmented skin tone so I decided to purchase the tinted version in case I needed to mix the two together. It was quite an investment, but I am satisfied with the way the sunscreen looks mixed together. The regular version alone creates too much of a white cast on my complexion. But when used in conjunction with the Tinted version, I find it to look more natural (3 pumps tinted and 1 pump regular covers my face, neck, and hands). When first applied, it does look a little shiny but since my skin is so dry the shininess does not last long and I normally apply the EltaMD Face & Body lotion on top. I do not use foundation or other makeup so I am unsure of how it may react to other products. But in my experience, the texture and application is great and a little product goes a long way. Previously, I used the Sunforgettable Total Protection in Classic but it was too dark/noticeable for my ivory skin so I used the Concierge service and they recommended the Sunforgettable Total Protection Flex product in Fair and it is a perfect match! It looks like I am wearing nothing at all and blends seamlessly with my neck to avoid that orangey/yellowish line on the jaw area. At the end of a full day of wear, my skin looks even better than in the morning and is smooth and calm, not tight, and the redness spots are evened out. I have dry, sensitive skin so sunscreen is tricky – I need mineral because chemical is irritating, but mineral ingredients like zinc oxide can be quite drying. It’s rare that a mineral sunscreen is as hydrating as this one, and I love that about it. My face never feels tight and dry by the end of the day. However, even for my dry skin, the finish is a bit too dewy. On someone with more oily skin, this would be downright greasy. I’m also rather pale and my skin tone is cool, but this shade is truly pink! Not pinky-beige but actually a cool apricot color. I’m able to make it work but it does look a bit odd. This probably works very well for extremely fair, cool skin tones — think folks that freckle very easily. Overall, cosmetically elegant and really hydrating. I have skin that can range from super pale to medium summer tan throughout the span of a few months, so I wanted to find a product that might work throughout the year, even though I thought it was a total wild goose chase. I was talking to my mom after she visited her Dermatologist, and she kept telling me all about this new makeup and skincare brand that her Derm recommended. I was really intrigued because I wanted to incorporate SPF into my daily routine, but I was not sure how. I knew that I definitely did not want one of those white-cast sunscreens that offered minimal protection which my very sensitive skin would have a bad reaction to. So after my mom ran out of the products from her Derm's office, we went to the website, which happened to be on sale, and that is the day I got super invested in this website and my skin. After trying this product for about a month I decided that I was done with everything else, this product is the only one that I have found that works for every single color or shade that my skin might be during any season and is always a perfect match. I no longer need to spend hours, time, and hundreds of dollars trying to find my shade in a single product, let alone a full face of products. I love that I am able to use SPF 50 and look full of life (not at all ghosty). I also know that it will last all year, through everything, and still look great because I wear it every single day, through +8 hours of school, sports, lazy days, vacations at the beach, swimming for hours, and through Louisiana summers where it was worn for a minimum of 8 hours, stayed through sweaty workouts, hours of being submerged in salt and chlorine pools, and throughout a shower. This product is one of my favorites, and I am not sure if I will ever find one to beat it, but there is one thing that is not my favorite, such as how it will never really dry down all of the way. It gives the skin a great glow, and nice coverage for me (for people that want fairly light coverage, which is pretty much just your skin with a light hint of something on, this may be a bit more coverage than you are used to, for high-coverage lovers, where the actual skin is completely covered in color(s), this may be a bit less coverage then you are used to, but for medium coverage people, this is probably your regular amount of skin-to-color), but I also feel that some days it can feel like a more medium-full coverage, and somedays a more light-medium coverage but that is all up to you.

I had heard a lot about this sunscreen. I have sensitive skin and can only use mineral sunscreen. I am always looking for cleaner brands and I found this for $14.99 at target which is a great price. I find sunscreen to be seriously overpriced for how important it is, and this is half of what I usually pay. This has mixed reviews. I don't find it pills the way others complained, but I didn't use a bunch of serums just my usual vitamin c. This says it's moisturizing, but also mattifying and I can usually use sunscreen lotion as my lotion in the summer on my oily/combo skin but found I needed a light moisturizer with this. I don't know about cream to powder, whatever that means, but it was harder to rub in to get rid of the white cast and I am super pale. I cannot recommend this for anyone who isn't pale for that reason. This is supposed to be unscented, but it smells a bit like powder but it fades. It didn't irritate me or break me out. I usually wear a higher SPF if I'm really out in the sun, I just wear this walking around my neighborhood and I've been into wearing hats since reaching my early thirties and in that case this works fine. I like the price and that it's inexpensive, but I don't love the white cast and I have to wear with moisturizer so that makes a more expensive option that doesn't require moisturizer not as big a deal. So I don't think I'd repurchase this, but I will finish the tube.
This product is unusable. It pills upon application and immediately rubs off, making a mess. I had to double cleanse just to get this stuff off, and it left my skin so dry that it still felt weird after moisturizing it to the point where I thought I still hadn't gotten it all off. It's blue, so even with most of it rubbed off, my face looked white and streaky. I know this is technically not a face moisturizer, but I have tried other mineral sunscreens and body sunscreens on my face without any issue other than a few pimples. The good reviews have to be fake. DO NOT buy this. I hope I can return it.Jessica
This is my first mineral sunscreen and I tried it because it was listed as one of the best ones to try for sensitive skin. I have been using it a few months now I genuininely like it, I was worried at first because I know mineral sunscreen can be really tricky. Some reviews have complained about pilling and I haven't noticed that at all. When I apply the sunscreen, I shake it vigorously, place a small dollop (about 1/2 tbsp), rub it a little between my fingers, let my fingers warm it up a little bit, dot it around my face, and then I start to spread it evenly. I do notice that it initially feels a little granular at first, but as I gently spread it around my face the white cast and granularity go away. Once it's set in, my skin does have a soft satin-y feel (similar to the feeling when I use a silicone based primer for my make up) and then after a minute or so my skin feels regular. So I'm not sure if people are just not rubbing it in enough or letting it warm up (I have read from dermatologists that warming up mineral sunscreens helps a lot with the application). I also wash my face and apply a light moisturizer before I apply the sunscreen. Basically in my experience it takes a smidge more time to apply the sunscreen, but I would say overall positive. Love this tinted MINERAL NOT CHEMICAL sunblock. MADE IN USA. Also like products made in Germany, UK, etc. And clearly marked as such. Perfect tint for my fair skin. A little thin though. I mix it in my hand with my foundation, which is a little too thick. Then I have the right consistency for my needs…light to medium coverage. But I have to purchase two products, mix, and my foundation has no sunblock, so I'm probably diluting some of the protection. But both products are great. It would be nice to have Sunbum make the tinted moisturizer just a little thicker for better coverage & consistency…WITHOUT CHANGING THE SHADE OF THE TINT. I've been eying this for months waiting on my Supergoop Matte Screen to run out. I finally purchased and have used it about 3x now. No issues! The tint is lighter than I'm use to, but leaves no white cast once rubbed in (I am Black, light skinned with an olive/red undertone) I was leery because it contains a few extracts but I researched them and they all have calming/soothing and hydrating aspects, so I'm okay with that. The only factors that separate this from the Supergoop mattescreen is that one has two ingredients to protect against blue light and this one does not. I've had no issues and no breakouts, praise the Lord. Good buy and price. Tinted is also always better for WOC especially with hyperpigmentation concerns.Brittany
Great formula, went on well and worked well under makeup. Kept my oily skin fairly matte throughout the day, but without a moisturizer underneath it was extremely drying. I wore this for two days after purchasing it, the first over moisturizer, and the second in place of moisturizer. By the end of the second day my face and neck where I'd applied it stung, itched, and felt extremely dry and painful — and when I looked in the mirror I was shocked to see that my whole face, including around my eyes, and neck had swelled up — I'm still trying to get the swelling down a day later. I purchased this b/c it is mineral and says hypoallergenic, but there is obviously something in this formula that caused a pretty bad allergic reaction for me. I have sensitive skin, but am more acne prone than anything else, and have never had this sort of reaction to a product. Super disappointed b/c I loved this otherwise and thought it would be one I'd continue to use daily for a long time.Lyss

I have malasma on my face, so I have to wear sunblock everyday/all day to prevent the dark spots from getting worse. To make matters worse, the most effective sunblock for malasma is zinc based or physical sunblock which leave a chalky white residue when applied. Furthermore I am acne prone. I was really struggling to find a sunblock I felt comfortable wearing to work and in public. When I discovered Amavara I almost cried. The product looks great on my skin – even providing a good amount of concealer for my skin spots. I have been using for months, applying multiple times a day and have not had a breakout. It is natural, unscented, reef and human safe. It has changed my life and made it easier to live with malasma. Be aware – as with any zinc based sunblock, if you are sweating a lot the sweat will bead up on your face. It doesn't impact the effectiveness. Just dab away with a tissue or something. Don’t sleep on this sunscreen. Been using this for almost 2 years and I hope they never stop selling it. Not the typical sunscreen. This has a thick consistency, takes a little rubbing in but once it’s on it sticks to your face and makes your pores look flawless. I have oily, acne prone skin, and my sister has dry, eczema prone skin and we both use this sunscreen ONLY. Have not worn foundation since using this. I am 24 year olds and I have dealt with mild, moderate, and severe acne since I was 11 years old! (Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s awful) So as you could imagine, I have tried everything under the sun. My biggest issue has always been sunscreens!! It did not leave a white overcast; but I have very fair skin, even for a white person, enough that people have called me "Casper the Friendly Ghost" and made reference to the scene in the movie, "Mean Girls" where the popular girls ask the new girl (played by Lindsey Lohan), "If you are from Africa, why are you white?" and another popular girl responds with, "Karen! You can't just go around asking people why they are White!" My husband likes how it makes my skin glow and that it has a very light fragrance. I will say I appreciate the matte texture of this sunscreen. However, the color is way too dark. I look completely orange when I put this on my face. The other problem I have is that it pills no matter what I put underneath. I also find it to dry out my skin by the end of the day. I use a strong retinoid every night and I don't love the flaking. Had to return this one.
I use this all summer and have started to use it in winter also- just a smaller amount. It states it is a “primer” and I normally don’t use a primer because I don’t wear foundation but I just use this as I would a tinted moisturizer. I use a serum beforehand and the Tizo on top. I then use a loose powder over, like bare minerals mineral veil. The Tizo blurs pores, adds a really nice color to my fair complexion, and is a matte finish. A little goes a long way! It was originally recommended to me by my dermatologist.JDavis
This “primer” has a good texture and it’s good under makeup. I like that it’s all mineral and spf 40, higher than most primers. However, this tint is not universal and should come in different shades. I am very fair and this tint is much too dark for me. It might work for those with deeper skin tones.

This is not going to be a great product for deeper skin tones, because it is *bright* white. But as someone who is too pale even for most complexion products sold on this site, this is perfect. It has a glow, but it's not glittery. It has fragrance, but it doesn't burn or irritate my skin. It's not drying on my normal-to-dry skin, nor is it overly greasy. (The "super" glowy sunscreen from the North American brand feels like a grease-bomb by comparison.) It wears beautifully under makeup. And the UVA protection is as high as you can get, which is exactly what I need. A winner all around.
This is the best SPF I have tried for my skin. I have combination skin, but it definitely gets very oily during the day. I also live in Australia, in a very hot, humid climate with some of the highest UV ratings in the world. So the right sunscreen is very important. This is SPF 5O+ and layers very well during the day. it's a good price for the size and spreads very well with no white cast at all. It smells a little like alcohol but I personally don't mind that much and it dissipates very quickly. It leaves my skin matte, but not dehydrated, though it would most likely not be the best for those with dry skin. Overall though, a fantastic product.Aimee
Best sunscreeen I’ve used under makeup. Almost acts like a primer hiding my pores. There’s no white cast either which I love or flakiness. It applies of like a gel like serum even though it’s called “Watery essence”. Have been using for years and this is a staple. Also it’s not oily. I cannot live without this. I am a redhead and growing up there was nothing I hated more than sunscreen. Not only was it sticky, but is smelled very distinctly like sunscreen and I was always the kid made fun of for the white streaks or cast all over my skin. I hated sunscreen. When I started researching anti-aging and skin care regimens as an adult, and everything told me to wear sunscreen everyday, I cringed. But, the thought of wrinkles made me cringe more. I tried a lot of different facial SPFs. Then I found Supergoop!. I never want to stop using this product. It does not smell like anything (including sunscreen). It is not sticky when you put the right amount on. It is completely invisible and it is so hydrating without clogging pores (adult acne struggle is real!). This entire brand has a solution for every need that a fair redhead who despises traditional sunscreen could need. I am so in love with my daily SPF, I never miss it. I like to pair this with the Daily Dose – I do find that to be tacky, but once this is layered over it, the tacky goes away within minutes. Please make the Jumbo a permeant product!Ashley M.
I was really reluctant to try this sunscreen to be honest, and mainly for the name “super goop”. To me that sounds like the sunscreen was going to be gooey and thick, and if you throw in the word “glow screen” I thought for sure I would be walking around like a disco ball. The consistency of the product itself is quite opposite of what I thought. i only apply a small amount because a little goes a long way. The consistency is thin enough to smooth onto my face and settles into the perfect finish. I’m on day two of trying this sunscreen because I’m wearing it with different products. Yesterday I tried under my full coverage makeup and no greasy face so yeah! This morning I tried it with some bronzing drops to add some color and again the consistency is gorgeous. Overall, I feel like this is a great product, especially for us oily face combination skin peeps, I’m really impressed. I also heard it goes great when mixed with tinted moisturizers so I will try that next. If I wear this sunscreen alone without makeup I may dab some powder in my t-zone for extra reassurance but I will try that next.joy.w
This is probably one of my favorite sunscreens I've ever tried! I've tried buying other sunscreens, mineral ones that "don't leave a white cast" and cheaper chemical options, and I just purchased this sunscreen for the fourth time. I also come back to this because it's a reliable choice and have had no problems. I'm Southeast Asian with a skin tone that's on the lighter side of the medium/tan range, so if I wear a 100% mineral sunscreen, my skin is light enough that it blends in but also dark enough for someone to tell that my skin tone looks off (sort of like a white cool-toned tint to my warm skin?). In other words, I just look a bit paler than usual and it looks unnatural. With this sunscreen, I don't have to think about if you can see it on my skin or if it's not blended. I usually put on more sunscreen than suggested (just to be safe), and this glides on extremely easily over my skin ( and I also didn't notice any scent/an unpleasant chemical smell). It is a bit slippery (no oils are in this, just silicones), but your skin will feel soft after rubbing it in. Speaking of which, you don't need to put in a lot of effort to apply! I had recently gotten jaw surgery and had switched to a different sunscreen (chemical, but had a white color that disappeared after rubbing in). I had incisions on the left and right side of my bottom jaw, which sunscreen would be necessary to prevent scarring, and I found that I had trouble rubbing in my sunscreen (walking into harsh lighting, I'd see white along the sides of my jaw from not blending well enough). I switched to this instead and had no problem, nor did I have to worry about having any weird coloring. The finish is a soft matte, almost similar to the Fenty Pro Filter Instant Retouch Primer. I am an avid SPF wearer throughout the year and always apply factor 50 to my face. I have tried tens, if not hundreds, of facial SPFs and this one really does stand up to many others I’ve tried. The tube is a generous size, the packaging is cute but more importantly it offers broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection. I love that the packaging lists that it is water resistant up to 80 minutes, as I find instructions on these products can often not give accurate information on when to reapply. The product is vegan, hypoallergenic and has no fragrance so it doesn’t break me out like some others do. The formula has no oil and it doesn’t exacerbate my oily skin, which is a problem I often suffer with. The texture is a nice lightweight lotion and it applies easily and absorbs quickly. I am taking 2 stars off for the issue I had which was pilling mostly. The formula balled right up and essentially chunked up as I rubbed it in. I always applied to a clean and dry face and it happened each time. I tried different methods such as rubbing in, using my hand to swipe in one singular direction, applying and patting in. I tried increasing and decreasing the amount I put on at any single application and the problems always occurred. I am taking off 1 star for the lack of response from Sun Bum. It's been several weeks now since I sent a message wanting to express my concern and inquire as to whether there was maybe a bad batch or to see if there were other solutions for me. I didn't hear anything back unfortunately. I wanted to wait till I heard back to leave a review because I do believe that customer service is part of the good and bad of any product. The 2 stars I have given this product are for its lack of fragrance and irritants – this is important to me when using a sunscreen on my face and near my eyes, nostrils, and mouth. And my favorite part of this formula and why I so desperately wanted it to work was it's lightness, this consistency is one of the best and I'd be sold for life on this product if it continued to have this light and milky consistency but without the issues I experienced. I enjoy the products for body that I have bought from Sun Bum. I have actually used the body SPF on my face and even though it is thick, I still love it. I just can't really use the products that have fragrance on my face, they are not a problem for my body but I have skin issues on my face that preclude their use on my face.Kristina

I now have now bought 5 of your products: Original Surf Paste, Original Sunscreen SPF 50, Sunscreen Face Lotion, Face Serum and Cooldown Lotion. Al 5 products are exceptional, and I almost never leave reviews. The sunscreen is literally a joy to spread on, and I hate sunscreen. Normally, after 1 week my skin has little bumps all over it that you can’t see but you can feel. Mineral sunscreen doesn’t do that, but yuck. I have been here almost 3 weeks and no bumps! 😁. This is great, because we might move here in a few years. And the surf paste is great. Don’t know about the SPF level, but my hair is soft and happier than it normally is with extended exposure to sun and salt water. I love the after sun face serum. Very cooling. I love this product so much! I love that it’s marketed towards POC because as an asian woman i struggle finding sunscreen that doesn’t leave a white cast. This was always the first result when I was searching the internet for a sunscreen for darker skin tones. it comes out white but rubs in clear. It is not matte by any means and does look a bit oily but it gets the job done and I usually wear it under makeup anyway. It is also fragranced so if you have a sensitivity to fragrance in product this might not be fore you. It can be a bit strong at times but it goes away as it dries. This is one of the best sunscreens i’ve found for people with darker skin besides the alba sunscreen. definitely would recommendehoss
First, I will say that I am a 34 year old white male. I am saying this because i don't think anyone should think this sunscreen isn't for white people, especially men, just because it's called Black Girl Sunscreen. I bought this because I just started using retinoids, and even though I have been into skincare for the last 6-7 years, I had never used sunscreen. I know, smack me now. It wasn't until I was learning more about retinoids that I realized it was crucial To use sunscreen. I decided that sunscreen was going to be a core product in my skincare routine for whenever I plan to leave the house. I bought this, and WOW! It goes on nicely, and it doesn't make my face white. What I was really surprised about was how it moisturized my skin. I thought about how they should make a moisturizer without the sunscreen in it, because it's that impressive by itself. It gave my skin a nice glow, and stayed on for as long as I needed it. It washed off nicely. For the price, I just don't see how you can beat this. I am very fair, so white cast is not top of my list in terms of sunscreen concerns, but I heard good things and enjoy trying new sunscreens. Firstly I feel the bottle and amount of product is generous for the price. The texture is lightweight – it takes a bit of time to rub in, it kind of wants to sit on the skin and I feel like I'm just rubbing the product around but eventually, it does melt in. I have combo oily skin and I definitely feel this is very moisturizing – a bit too much for me. I let it sink in for 5-10 min before starting my face makeup otherwise it will just slip off. I do need to powder a lot to cut down the shine, but overall the sunscreen wears nicely under makeup. I haven't noticed breakouts yet, but I do tend to switch up my sunscreens day to day. I haven't burned using this yet. I like it, but don't feel it's the best when you are short on time as I do need to let it sink in.Em

I really enjoy using this SPF oil. I combine it with my moisturizer or apply alone. It does not leave a slimy residue on my face. I have not broken out or started to itch from using it. It does not aggravate my skin. I am very pleased with the product and the simplicity of its use. The bottle is very nice. The packaging is pretty. I regularly use face oil and sunscreen separately as part of my daily routine, but do not normally wear makeup. I like the mele skin care no shade sunscreen SPF 30 broad spectrum face oil because it combines two of the steps in my face care routine. Positives: No smell so it does not interfere with my organic hyralonic acid serum scent. Dropper applicator so you can get the right amount. Smooth feel on the skin. Sinks into skin and leaves skin soft and not dry. Negatives: Cannot think of any. I will continue to use this face oil/sunscreen as part of my daily routine.Andie6181
This is my first time trying a sunscreen oil. I was a bit unsure at first since I have combo skin that easily turns oily with new or wrong products but I was pleasantly surprised. My skin felt smooth and protected. I did see some shine but it was more of a healthy glow. I like it and feel that it works great on my skin. Not sure how much I would recommend it for combo/oily skin, but if you have dry or don't mind some sheen whilst protecting yourself, this is the way to go.MsMakeupReviews

Not one for reviews or should I say I’ve never found a product that suits my skin as my skin is highly sensitive and even though I always go for organic products that may still have some effect on my skin and break out after sometime of using the product, so I’ve never had a product that has lasted enough time to be able to write about it. This product has left me hydrated and I’m dark skinned and have a lot of pigmentation and most definitely need spf as my chin/mouth area gets darker than the rest of my face exposed to sun. I have been using this product consistently and daily weather outside or not and I can shockingly say I’ve not broken out not once it is oily and my skin is super dry but I’ve found it hard to use oils in my face because I break out soon as an oil based product touches my skin so IM SUPER HAPPY I Now have a product I can use for DRY, PIGMENTED SKIN !! I will continue to purchase this product it goes along way also I’ve been using this product for over 3 weeks now and I still have over half left !! I'm sort of shocked by how well reviewed this is! It feels heavy on the skin and looks REALLY greasy. No amount of rubbing in or waiting makes it less greasy-looking. It is incredibly difficult to put makeup on over this because of the texture, and it caused my powder to clump too. It also seeped into my eyes after a few hours and irritated them badly. Because of the amazing reviews, I really have tried to give this a chance; I wore it several times and tried multiple ways of applying it/trying to cover the greasy appearance, but nothing helped. In its favour, this is very reasonably priced. I didn't notice any white cast (but I am also very pale). It does not have a strong smell, and it also did not irritate my skin at all or break me out. I think this is likely an excellent SPF, it's just very cosmetically inelegant. I sort of wonder whether the people who feel that this is not greasy-looking are actually applying enough.Sinéad
Im absolutely disgusted with this product. It doesn't work. I applied this sunscreen to my face and shoulders about 40 mins before going to the beach at 5pm. I then reapplied just to be certain i was covered when I got there and waited 20mins before swimming. I was in the water about 90 minutes after 5pm. My face is now sunburned and painful!! My shoulders are very tanned and moderately burned now too. Its like I didn't put any on. This is disgraceful – I now have a skin injury because this product doesn't do what it is supposed to do. I should have been fine with a 25spf product at that time of day and this is supposed to be 50spf. I have sensitive skin and im allergic to fragrance so im very limited in the products I can use. This product should be recalled. Im so angry and disappointed.Wendy

I personally love this spf but it does has its pros and cons. Pros: I love the packaging and that it is refillable Texture is smooth and easily spread No white cast (although it’s expected because it’s a chemical sunscreen) It’s not super expensive (whereas I’ve seen some sunscreen for 60$ and above) It leaves a nice glow finish It plays well with my toner, essence, serums and moisturizer not causing them to peel. However I don’t wear make up so I have no answer as to how it interacts with make up Cons: Highly fragrance which is not good when you have uv rays of all kinds hitting your face which may be oxidizing the ingredients. Remind you, that sunscreen must be reapplied every 2 hours. I do not like linalool and limonene ingredient although they are at the very end, I’ll prefer to not see them at all It would be nice is the spf is higher then 30 for days when people want to spend time out in the sun. The mix: I really hope in the future fenty skin care line comes out with a fragrance free version minus hand irritating ingredients. I would also like to see a fenty mineral sunscreen with spf 50 pa ++++. Overall I like it but I would not purchase due to the cons listed above. I actually initially received this in the sephora sun safety kit, and it was the first thing I bought a full size of. I literally cut the mini tube apart to squeeze out every last drop. The moisturizer has a creamy/gel-like consistency, yet absorbs like a dream into the skin, leaving the skin with a dewy and healthy look. I dont feel the need to add any more moisturizer after this, since it leaves my skin plump and soft throughout the day. The very subtle scent is almost citrusy? And fresh! of course the fact this has spf is fantastic. AND IT DOESNT BURN THE EYES!!! Was a deal breaker for me!!! As soon as I heard Rihanna was putting out the sunscreen as part of her skincare line, I signed up for early access and ordered the day it dropped. I struggle to use sunscreen as often as I need to but this has helped me stay accountable. It applies clear without any white, frosty cast and applies easily and cleanly. It doesn't leave my skin greasy or oily and I can apply makeup over it without it shifting too much throughout the day. I personally like the fragrance version but can understand how it may be too strong for some people. I love that the packaging is recyclable and the refills can easily be swapped. Shipping was very fast and it arrived in a couple days after ordering. As long as Fenty Skin makes the product and it stays the same, I will continue buying it and using it. I wish there was a higher SPF version, though. I prefer SPF 50+ but this sunscreen held up and kept me protected while on a Caribbean vacation. Okay this is just one of those wow products for me truly. I never have truly tried out a retinol before and this would be my first. I know I am to put a pea sized amount on my face and massage it in. Usually can be used with other serums (no ahas or bhas though ofcourse!) and a good moisturizer ofcourse. I have sensitive combo skin and I was curious how this would be for me. Doing as I have seen I used a pea size amount every single day during the night and never felt weird irritations or the need to wash my face off. What I did notice was the difference this amazing retinol was making on my skins texture. I could clearly see just how smooth my skin was becoming and how much more radiant it looked. I also took notice on how some fine lines are starting to fade in little by little and acne scars are starting to lighten. I think I can also say this has helped tremendously with even a current breakout I have. No new pimples have appeared and the bumps I had are starting to become invisible or less. This serum is hydrating and feels good on the skin, and is super gentle compared to some other retinol products I’ve used. This one contains a “tri-active” retinol formulation which they describe as a fast-acting retinoid, a slower release retinol, and a retinol booster all in one. As someone who uses retinol daily at this point, I haven’t noticed any stinging or irritation so this is likely a gentler/less potent retinol formulation. The serum is lightweight, absorbs quickly, and keeps moisture locked in. As far as fine line reduction… a little? My skin does feel taut and refreshed when I use this so that’s something. I do feel like it’s helped a bit with crow’s feet and my laugh line area. If you are sensitive to fragrance, you might not like this one. I liked the smell but it’s definitely pretty obvious and it lingers after applying the serum. Lastly, I definitely feel like this serum could be cheaper! There is no reason that retinol products have to be so outrageously expensive—look at all the affordable brands out there with no frills, high potency retinol serums that actually work. You’re basically paying for the brand name here. I also don’t like the lack of information on the exact strength of the retinol and retinoid in the “tri-active” formulation. That seems a bit sus to me. Can only give 3 stars because of those. Overall, this is a really nice serum and I do think it has some anti-aging/tightening effects based on my experience. However, it’s so expensive for what you get. If you can afford it, great! Ok so listen…I’m not gonna say that I don’t care about SPF rating (which pertain to UVB rays, for those of you who don’t know, that cause sunburn and skin cancer), but as a Fitzpatrick V black woman, I care WAY more about UVA protection, the longer wavelengths of which wreak havoc on the skin (premature aging, immune suppression, and also possibly cancer). The problem is, UVA rating is hard to figure out with most US sunscreens (sorry, but “broad spectrum” just doesn’t do it for me). Since PA++++ is the best we’ve got here, and I’m not feeling our chemical filters, Murad City Skin Age Defense is one of the best options that I’ve found for an every day sunscreen. In addition to high(ish) UVA protection, it claims to offer blue light and infrared protection which, if it actually does this, is a bonus for someone like me with pesky melasma. It feels good on my skin and doesn’t leave a cast, and that’s all that I ask for. Four stars for the price because why is 1.7 oz of sunscreen $70?! But, until I get my hands on some European or Brazilian sunscreens with much better chemical filters, I’ll be rocking with Murad for the foreseeable future.Kristenthousand
