I am an avid SPF wearer throughout the year and always apply factor 50 to my face. I have tried tens, if not hundreds, of facial SPFs and this one really does stand up to many others I’ve tried. The tube is a generous size, the packaging is cute but more importantly it offers broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection. I love that the packaging lists that it is water resistant up to 80 minutes, as I find instructions on these products can often not give accurate information on when to reapply. The product is vegan, hypoallergenic and has no fragrance so it doesn’t break me out like some others do. The formula has no oil and it doesn’t exacerbate my oily skin, which is a problem I often suffer with. The texture is a nice lightweight lotion and it applies easily and absorbs quickly. I am taking 2 stars off for the issue I had which was pilling mostly. The formula balled right up and essentially chunked up as I rubbed it in. I always applied to a clean and dry face and it happened each time. I tried different methods such as rubbing in, using my hand to swipe in one singular direction, applying and patting in. I tried increasing and decreasing the amount I put on at any single application and the problems always occurred. I am taking off 1 star for the lack of response from Sun Bum. It's been several weeks now since I sent a message wanting to express my concern and inquire as to whether there was maybe a bad batch or to see if there were other solutions for me. I didn't hear anything back unfortunately. I wanted to wait till I heard back to leave a review because I do believe that customer service is part of the good and bad of any product. The 2 stars I have given this product are for its lack of fragrance and irritants – this is important to me when using a sunscreen on my face and near my eyes, nostrils, and mouth. And my favorite part of this formula and why I so desperately wanted it to work was it's lightness, this consistency is one of the best and I'd be sold for life on this product if it continued to have this light and milky consistency but without the issues I experienced. I was waiting for a sale to repurchase urban decay eyeshadow primer in Eden that I had used to the last drop. I noticed this had a silicone texture basically dupe of one of the make up forever face primers so I started putting this on my eyelids and under eyes instead. First of all, zero eye irritation. And second, I kid you not it holds shadow on my oily lids so well! It's not as opaque as Eden but I kind of prefer this because it doesn't accentuate the eyelid wrinkles as much. I do get some creasing, but not till I've had it on for like maybe 12 hours or longer. It can make my combo skin feel dry on the cheeks so I moisturize the cheeks well first. But it does seem to help keep me t zone shine free longer. If the light shade were more warm toned I would love it more, but my skin is neutral-warm so it's acceptable on me. I won't knock a star for that, but it would be great if they came out with one more shade like the Elta MD UV Elements which has a warmer undertone which gives a healthy warm glow. I did try mixing the light and the dark ones but I personally didn't find the shades undertones mixed to complement me. For reference I'm MAC NC 25-30 but more on the neutral side.Jammy
I'm a skincare and sunscreen fanatic. I hate how most sunscreens look under my makeup. But, I have decent skin so I can just use this as my foundation now! I believe that's the under purpose since it is tinted. You need to read ingredients to see if it will separate from your foundation if you plan to later foundation on top. I do not. I bought his because of a tiktok – the girl wearing this had similar skin to my own. Combo skin with some acne and visible pores. It looked so good on her and on mine as well! Please still use moisturizer with this and let it set before applying. Sunscreen is not meant to be moisturizing; so everyone saying it is drying makes me think they are trying to use this without moisturizer. My skin gets oily from certain products, especially sunscreen. This does not break me out and I'm not (as) oily as I usually am at the end of the day! It's mattifying but not in a gross caked on way. I wear this every day. I used to wear concealer and powder, but now I just wear this. For me it performs so much better than way more expensive tinted sunscreens I've tried. It applies beautifully, doesn't pill even when layered over skincare, and evens out my skin tone without looking like makeup. I have sensitive skin but this doesn't irritate, even around my eyes. Dries matte and helps keep my forehead from becoming too oily throughout the day. I am very pale but the light version works for me, and the tint is flexible enough that it still works when I've been (fake) tanning. It only oxidizes if I don't wash my face at night, but even then I don't look orange, just like I've been tanning. My one complaint is that in the winter the matte finish is a bit too dry around my eyes, which doesn't help my fine lines and can make my eye makeup look a bit cakey as the day goes on. The dewy finish wasn't over the top either and it felt moisturizing. I like most EltaMD sunscreens, and this one is my favorite for my neck, chest, and body. It goes on easily, no cast on me, and feels moisturizing. But, it is so expensive that I only use it when I'm going to be outside all day and stick to the EltaMD UV Lotion sunscreen for other days. UV Lotion and UV Daily are nearly identical in inactive ingredients and have the same feel, but UV Daily has higher SPF. I wish EltaMD would package UV Daily in a larger, more economical bottle; I honestly think they should ditch the UV Lotion sunscreen and switch fully to manufacturing this one. I randomly bought this not thinking it would be anything special but needed a body sunscreen for an upcoming trip. This ended up being a really nice surprise since this contains a lot of nourishing and skin friendly ingredients, is water resistant, oil free and has no white cast. My fiancé even asked that we buy more of this since he did not mind the smell of the sunscreen, which is shocking since he is really picky with the way sunscreen smells. This is perfect for the body but may not work for all on the face. My skin can be a little oily and I thought this made my face look shiny, but was perfect if I went swimming in the ocean since it helped moisturize my skin from the salt and sand. I would recommend this for any outdoor activity but would be cautious if you were attending a special event since this may make oily skin types feel uncomfortably shiny. As I'm getting older (soon to be 33- old for me ok!)- I've been really cognizant of my skin care routine. Doing some research I read that SPF products are amazing to help your skin in the long run- boy was I ever thankful for this sample. The product itself is light weight, it doesn't feel cakey on the skin and blends oh so smoothly. I see a lot of negative reviews of this product, but I honestly I think it’s pretty amazing. I was taking a chance buying this, because my skin hasn’t agreed with other glow recipe products in the past (guessing because of the amount of fragrance in their other products), however I couldn’t resist trying a new sunscreen! I have been using it in the morning without any moisturizer at the moment, and haven’t seen any issue with dry skin. For reference I am combo (oily t zone, dry cheeks), can be acne prone, and have seen sensitivity with fragrant products or products that contain essential oils. This product does have a light watermelon scent, but it dissipates within 20 min or so. It’s working well with my Lys foundation currently, but idk what it would be like with a powder or matte foundation.. it might pill as other reviews have suggested. I have been using this product for a few weeks now and have not noticed any sensitivity or increase in acne. And I have tried other chemical sunscreens that have caused my acne to flare up, so this is certainly one of a kind! Throughout my skincare journey, I've placed a strong emphasis on purchasing clean, high-quality products, even if it costs a bit more than, say, something I'd buy at the grocery store or drug store. However, SPF has been, for reasons I can't really explain, one of those skincare products that I just haven't held to that same standard. I've always been more content to just buy a "cheaper" natural brand. Up until this product, I'd been using the Alba Botanica SPF 50 sport sunscreen. It was fine and did what it needed to. But since discovering Glow Recipe, I decided to make the splurge and try out their SPF. Let me just say, I'm SO glad that I did. One of the most notable differences between this SPF and other brands that I've used is the texture. Whereas my last sunscreen always felt so thick and like I had to really work at blending it in, the watermelon glow niacinamide sunscreen just effortless glides on. It's so silky smooth. I also love that it has just a hint of natural watermelon fragrance. Plus, it feels so nourishing, and it really does wonders to help with the texture of my skin and alleviate any redness I may have. I know it's a bit pricier than your average sunscreen, but this is a fabulous product, and if you're willing to splurge, I couldn't recommend this more.Bryce
Chemical sunscreen that is ensconced in great ingredients. WHY? Ingredients that accumulate in fish and breast milk. No one should be using any chemical sunscreen. Children are advised not to use at least one of the active ingredients because studies have shown that it aggravates rosacea and eczema. Japan limits not just one but two of the ingredients in this product. Bottom line is any sunscreen that is “light” and adsorbs easily, is chemical based – it soaks into your skin. If it accumulates in fish that swim below water treatment plants, what makes you think it doesn’t accumulate in you when you directly slather it on your skin? The government approvals of these ingredients is based on the thought that more people will die of skin cancer then will die of chemical toxicity, but how do we know that all the cancers we have aren’t a result of all the chemicals we are exposed to daily? And all of the reactive copy in the ad suggested GR knows this is an issue and is trying to head off complaints and questions in advance. I have no doubt that this is a wonderful sunscreen. The other ingredients are great. But if you care about your health you’ll stop using chemical sunscreens. You’ll just suck it up and use the mineral only ones that take about 20 minutes for your skin to warm them to the point of making the white cast disappear.Less C. P.

From the reviews this looked amazing, and I had been eyeing this brand for a long time. I finally decided to get it after running out of my normal sunscreen. I was immediately in love with the smell and the feel on my hands, but the second I put it on my face, it felts so heavy. It's so greasy, it makes my face look like i'm constantly sweating, I'm always shiny and it does not dry down. While there's no white cast, you will look extremely greasy all day, and your makeup will move. My biggest concern with this product was my skin. I have spent 2 years getting my skin clear after dealing with severe chronic acne. Within 1 week of using this product, I was getting huge painful pimples in places I have never had acne before (my cheeks and jawline!), as soon as I stopped using this sunscreen, my skin has started to heal. I really wish I could like this product, and I'm glad it worked for so many others, but I do recommend being cautious. If you're acne-prone or have sensitive skin, I'd look at other products first, the breakouts are truly not worth the $50+Carter
Oh, my god. I have had major sensory issues my whole life and the feeling of putting on sunblock has always been a viscerally uncomfortable, torturous experience lol. I have tried every texture of sunscreen from sprays to regular cream sunscreens to serum-types that are supposed to blend in easily, but they all still felt awful on my skin. Supergoop Play is THE FIRST sunblock I have EVER tried that is genuinely comfortable to apply and wear!! The texture feels somehow miraculously like a skincare cream, super light and cooling, and doesn't feel sticky or goopy at all. I use this on face and body and I can honestly barely feel it on my face– it's so much better than so many face-specific sunscreens I've tried! (There's no white cast, either!) There's a lovely light scent that's not at all like a typical sunscreen. I also love love love Unseen Sunscreen but Play Everyday is perfect for days where I need more protection. Childhood me is freaking out that I finally found a sunblock I can apply without feeling like I want to burst into tears! I was using uv clear for a while, however it really hurt to pay that much for sunscreen that you’re supposed to use every day and use liberally. I get a little over 3X more product with Supergoop, and it’s still cheaper. I was on the hunt from something that wouldn’t break the bank, and, at the same time, had an elegant feel/look to it. I finally found it. Relative to what all is out there, this is much more affordable, without compromising on the quality of the product. It definitely makes you glowy, maybe even a slightly greasy, but I prefer this to a matte finish. I also live in a very hot and humid climate, we all look a little dewy anyways. I like the way it looks and feels and how it looks under makeup. Hasn’t burned my eyes. Will be buying again.slmvcmel

It would be nice to see reviews that are about the product displayed…. I went ahead and tried the spf 15 myself as no reviews helped, so here is a review about the actual product displayed. I am pale and pasty with freckles. I have always had an extremely difficult time attempting to get color from natural sunlight, however, the spf has changed this for me. I try to get about 45 minutes of sun no less than 3 times a week while using this product. The tan does not happen overnight. It is a gradual tan that takes consistency! I have not burned once which is a huge feat for someone as pale as I am. I will say I use a very liberal amount and go through a bottle about every three weeks. Overall, I highly recommend this product for extremely pale and pasty individuals who have never had a tan!Rsal29
I was sent some coupons to try the above since my old bottle of 8 had a very chemical smell to it from being out of date. The pros: the 8 did a good job of keeping me from burning in roughly 25 minutes of very hot sun/temps (90's)! I had a little color before but not really a tan. The cons: while the scent is slightly similar to the original 4, it's not the same. Please don't claim it's Classic Coppertone because it's not!!!The top scent notes are too "bright" and fade away quickly. The original had a "warmer" more beach-y scent that lingered for a long time after applying. My theory is that the company decided to stop using more quality ingredients for the scent to make it more profitable, which has ruined something that was once UNIQUE and GREAT!! Please, please, PLEASE bring back the original, classic fragrance of Coppertone. It’s the smell of happiness. For years, I have been chasing fragrances from Bobbi Brown’s “Beach” to CB I Hate Perfume’s “At the Beach 1966” to Tom Ford’s “Portofino Neroli” to try and recapture the smell of the true, classic scent of Coppertone. These fragrances come close, but they, still, fall short. I’ll add that the last two fragrances are quite expensive —and people are paying these huge price tags just to recapture the iconic, happy smell of the true, original Coppertone fragrance. There’s a lot of talk online about people missing the old scent, and, apparently there was some talk of Coppertone’s making a fragrance with the original scent. Please, bring back the old scent in suntan oil or sunscreen and/or make an ear de parfum for us that hits the nail on the head. I’d rather wear the old, classic Coppertone fragrance than Tom Ford’s Neroli Portofino anyday. I randomly bought this not thinking it would be anything special but needed a body sunscreen for an upcoming trip. This ended up being a really nice surprise since this contains a lot of nourishing and skin friendly ingredients, is water resistant, oil free and has no white cast. My fiancé even asked that we buy more of this since he did not mind the smell of the sunscreen, which is shocking since he is really picky with the way sunscreen smells. This is perfect for the body but may not work for all on the face. My skin can be a little oily and I thought this made my face look shiny, but was perfect if I went swimming in the ocean since it helped moisturize my skin from the salt and sand. I would recommend this for any outdoor activity but would be cautious if you were attending a special event since this may make oily skin types feel uncomfortably shiny. The tropical smell is also pleasant and perfect for summer but not sure if I would enjoy using this in the cooler months. Personally, the scent would feel out of season for me. Overall, I would recommend this sunscreen for the summer since it is great for the face and body. I think it is also nice that this product is inexpensive for the ingredients you find in this US sunscreen. Only thing I would caution is that oily skin types may want to avoid using this for formal events since they may prefer a more matte finish. As I'm getting older (soon to be 33- old for me ok!)- I've been really cognizant of my skin care routine. Doing some research I read that SPF products are amazing to help your skin in the long run- boy was I ever thankful for this sample. The smell is amazing, it reminds me of summers at the beach with my family, nostalgia hit me like a brick! The product itself is light weight, it doesn't feel cakey on the skin and blends oh so smoothly. I've been using it two ways- one right out of the shower so my skin takes it better and it helps moisturizer but also before I put on my makeup as a primer. Either fashion works well. My makeup goes on smoother with a matte finish (my preferred type). I love receiving these sample products because it really helps me solidify my decision on actually going to purchase these products after I've used the sample up. It's not warm enough here in Ontario to get the full effects with the sun but soon enough! Great product, highly recommend.

It is the best. Feels great going on, is moisturizing, has a great smell and does give me a burning sensation when I am in the sun. Most of all, an 8 is perfect to keep the burn away and give me some tan. It's a must have on vacation! Be sure to reapply if you are swimming or in the sun all day. I found this gem here in Walgreen's and I literally am obsessed with this product. It is one of the best new products I have stumbled upon, and at this price range, $10 for 5oz. A pretty big bottle! It has SPF 50 in it and it is a regular sunscreen. I wouldn't use this on my legs unless I was at a pool party or wearing a dress or skirt and wanted to GLOW. When I tell you the first time I squeezed a little onto the back of my hand inside the store I was FLOORED! There is no sparkle, no glitter, just a beautiful, subtle GLOW and it is beautiful! Very, very slight smell of coconut. You can use this on your cheekbones, your decollete, on a bare face when you just want to glow, or under makeup to give it a nice shimmer. To start, please know that I am passionate about my sunscreen. It is my favorite beauty product, and I take it seriously. The Glow Hydragel from Coppertone is not a winner for me. Now, I cannot argue that this sunscreen doesn't apply smoothly, and with a gorgeous, lightly sparkly shimmer. It truly does. It goes on like butter. However, it has a sharp, alcohol smell and pills VERY badly when applying and throughout it's wear time, and if you reapply the pilling goes bonkers. There's no avoiding the pilling. Now, pilling, generally, is annoying more than anything else, but when sunscreen pills you can't be sure how much protection has applied, and how much you've lost in the pilling process. The fact that you can't reapply over it is also a HUGE problem for me. I will say that it truly does appear to have good water resistance, as I noticed when I was rinsing my hands after applying to remove the pills. The water beaded up on my hands beautifully, so that does appear to work as promised. Since it works so well to repel water it's possible that this might work best for someone with very dry skin, but I wouldn't put money on it. If pilling doesn't bother you, or you're looking more for the aesthetic than the protection, this might be worth trying, but otherwise I would recommend you steer clear of this particular product.kristen.m

So i got this specifically for my daughters faces. we def need the 100spf over here because my kids burn so easy. Down here in Texas this summer has been especially hot so wanted to make sure they were covered to the best that I could. I was very surprised at how tough it was when we were at the beach and just playing out in the yard. one occasion i didn't get all on one of my kids noses and i could definitely tell the difference! I actually used it on my shoulders as well and I could see streaks of where I didn't use it because I burned in those places. I highly recommend! Also, no strong smell either.Andrew
This is terrible. Extremely sticky. Leaves a white residue that cakes on you. Gets all over your suit as well. The sticky residue does not come off in the shower. Instead it leaves a chalky white mess on your skin even after showering and towel drying. Worst sunscreen I’ve ever purchased. Threw it in trash after the first day of using. Do not buy.Amy
I am no stranger to applying (and re-applying) sunscreen with my fair skin. How did this formula pass quality assurance? Right away, you'll notice this stuff sprays on thick. It is almost like spray paint. Once on your skin, it's VERY difficult to rub around. In fact, it doesn't entirely rub in (you'll be glowing a shade of white while wearing this). Because of this, you'd assume it would be superior to sunscreens that wash off easily with sweat and water. After a 2 hour hike in the sun, with little sweating at all, I returned home a shade of pink. I was dumbfounded. I'm pretty white and know how to apply sunscreen like a pro. I had put it on every area of my body, and still got burned. Now, I'm recovering from the burn, as well as the ensuing rash that I broke out in as a result of this product. I've never had that happen before with a sunscreen. Not to mention, it's been 5 days and I'm still trying to get this stuff out of my skin. I've used coarse, exfoliating scrubs, and it's still lingering in my wrinkles and pores. And I can still smell it on me. 5 days later! Yikes! Nasty stuff. Good for all ages, adults and kids. Smells like the classic Coppertone Suntan Lotion, and I like it! Quite thick and creamy but not too greasy, you must spread really well so you would not look like a mummy, haha . Quite difficult to spread because of its thickness. Must be re applied if staying under the sun after a long time, maybe every after 2 hours of sun exposure. Size is quite huge, good for the use of the whole family, you can use it for quite a long time because of it's size. I only use this when we go to the beach or exercise under the sun. I use another brand and formulation for my everyday use as I prefer lighter formulations if I do not do sports. It really stays on even when I sweat a lot. As they say, it is better to protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun by using at least an SPF50, prevention is the key. Value for money really.iHerb Customer
I’ve used this product for years on my family and I don’t know if they changed the formula but after a day at the beach my whole family is burnt. Yes we re applied. I’m 43 years old and know to re apply. Our skin looks like we used nothing. We are not a light complected family that burns easily but I have always believed in using sunblock because protecting your skin is important. I’ve never looked up recalls before but I just had to because I just don’t know what was different this time. I also made sure the store didn’t sell me an expired product. We purchased two cans of Banana Boat Sport Ultra SPF 100 for a family reunion at a water park. 11 of us used this sunscreen- putting it on before we entered the park, and two hour later at lunch, some stayed longer and applied it a third time. ALL 11 of us got burned as if we had on 0 sunblock! I could understand if one person got burned, but all 11- using 2 different cans!!! Expiration date printed is11/2024. I received this product for free, but am glad to have received it as I was curious to try a new sunscreen. I tested this product over the span of 2 weeks, and it did not break me out. I have dry-acne prone skin, which has made it a bit challenging to find products (especially sunscreen) that hydrates, but doesn't break me out. This product applies easily, however it does leave a white cast right away. It takes quite a bit of blending, and I would say 10 minutes or so after application for the white cast to disappear. However, I do have fair skin so the cast may be more visible on other complexions. The sunscreen has a slightly sweet almost vanilla smell while applying. I don't really smell it too much on my face afterward, but I don't think it would be good for those who are sensitive to skincare products with scents. After application, the sunscreen leaves a dewy and hydrated finish/touch. Although it is nice for my dry skin, I do wish it dried down a bit more as I don't love the sensation of my hands feeling dewy after touching my skin, which is why I rated this product a 4 instead of a 5. For those who have oilier skin you may want to set this product with a powder. Overall, I think once I'm finished this bottle I will purchase this product for a daily sunscreen when I'm in the house as the SPF is 30.meagan

I was selected to try the Hawaiin Tropic Weightless Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 for free in exchange for my honest opinion and it couldn't have come at a better time! Now that Spring is finally here, I have been spending much more time outside in the yard, going for walks, at the playground with my daughter and etc. This sunscreen is so easy to use and is less greasy and more like a lotion than the sunscreens that I have used in the past. Even though it is a milky lotion sunscreen, it doesn't leave that dreaded white film on my skin that I am used to as well with other sunscreens. The sunscreen absorbs easily into the skin and is easily spreadable making application easy and effortless. Although I wish it offered a little more than SPF 30 for the summer months when the sun is more prominent, the SPF 30 rating is good for Spring days. I love that the sunscreen is free from chemicals and parabens and is also cruelty free! My favorite part about this sunscreen is that it is both sweat and water resistant for approximately 80 mins! Reapplication is needed only after sweating/being in water after 80 mins or 2 hours if just spending the day outside. It smells tropically which is also a nice change from other sunscreens I have used in the past which makes me actually want to reapply it! I applied the sunscreen 15-20 mins before heading outside and found coverage to be good until I was ready to come back in. I found this gem here in Walgreen's and I literally am obsessed with this product. It is one of the best new products I have stumbled upon, and at this price range, $10 for 5oz. A pretty big bottle! It has SPF 50 in it and it is a regular sunscreen. I wouldn't use this on my legs unless I was at a pool party or wearing a dress or skirt and wanted to GLOW. When I tell you the first time I squeezed a little onto the back of my hand inside the store I was FLOORED! There is no sparkle, no glitter, just a beautiful, subtle GLOW and it is beautiful! Very, very slight smell of coconut. You can use this on your cheekbones, your decollete, on a bare face when you just want to glow, or under makeup to give it a nice shimmer. To start, please know that I am passionate about my sunscreen. It is my favorite beauty product, and I take it seriously. The Glow Hydragel from Coppertone is not a winner for me. Now, I cannot argue that this sunscreen doesn't apply smoothly, and with a gorgeous, lightly sparkly shimmer. It truly does. It goes on like butter. However, it has a sharp, alcohol smell and pills VERY badly when applying and throughout it's wear time, and if you reapply the pilling goes bonkers. There's no avoiding the pilling. Now, pilling, generally, is annoying more than anything else, but when sunscreen pills you can't be sure how much protection has applied, and how much you've lost in the pilling process. The fact that you can't reapply over it is also a HUGE problem for me. I will say that it truly does appear to have good water resistance, as I noticed when I was rinsing my hands after applying to remove the pills. The water beaded up on my hands beautifully, so that does appear to work as promised. Since it works so well to repel water it's possible that this might work best for someone with very dry skin, but I wouldn't put money on it. If pilling doesn't bother you, or you're looking more for the aesthetic than the protection, this might be worth trying, but otherwise I would recommend you steer clear of this particular product.kristen.m

I cannot live without this. I am a redhead and growing up there was nothing I hated more than sunscreen. Not only was it sticky, but is smelled very distinctly like sunscreen and I was always the kid made fun of for the white streaks or cast all over my skin. I hated sunscreen. I tried a lot of different facial SPFs. Then I found Supergoop!. I never want to stop using this product. It does not smell like anything (including sunscreen). It is not sticky when you put the right amount on. It is completely invisible and it is so hydrating without clogging pores (adult acne struggle is real!). This entire brand has a solution for every need that a fair redhead who despises traditional sunscreen could need. I am so in love with my daily SPF, I never miss it. I was really reluctant to try this sunscreen to be honest, and mainly for the name “super goop”. To me that sounds like the sunscreen was going to be gooey and thick, and if you throw in the word “glow screen” I thought for sure I would be walking around like a disco ball. The consistency of the product itself is quite opposite of what I thought. i only apply a small amount because a little goes a long way. The consistency is thin enough to smooth onto my face and settles into the perfect finish. I’m on day two of trying this sunscreen because I’m wearing it with different products. Yesterday I tried under my full coverage makeup and no greasy face so yeah! This morning I tried it with some bronzing drops to add some color and again the consistency is gorgeous. Overall, I feel like this is a great product, especially for us oily face combination skin peeps, I’m really impressed. I also heard it goes great when mixed with tinted moisturizers so I will try that next. This is probably one of my favorite sunscreens I've ever tried! I've tried buying other sunscreens, mineral ones that "don't leave a white cast" and cheaper chemical options, and I just purchased this sunscreen for the fourth time. I also come back to this because it's a reliable choice and have had no problems. I'm Southeast Asian with a skin tone that's on the lighter side of the medium/tan range, so if I wear a 100% mineral sunscreen, my skin is light enough that it blends in but also dark enough for someone to tell that my skin tone looks off (sort of like a white cool-toned tint to my warm skin?). In other words, I just look a bit paler than usual and it looks unnatural. With this sunscreen, I don't have to think about if you can see it on my skin or if it's not blended. I usually put on more sunscreen than suggested (just to be safe), and this glides on extremely easily over my skin ( and I also didn't notice any scent/an unpleasant chemical smell). It is a bit slippery (no oils are in this, just silicones), but your skin will feel soft after rubbing it in. Speaking of which, you don't need to put in a lot of effort to apply! I had recently gotten jaw surgery and had switched to a different sunscreen (chemical, but had a white color that disappeared after rubbing in). I had incisions on the left and right side of my bottom jaw, which sunscreen would be necessary to prevent scarring, and I found that I had trouble rubbing in my sunscreen (walking into harsh lighting, I'd see white along the sides of my jaw from not blending well enough). I am an avid SPF wearer throughout the year and always apply factor 50 to my face. I have tried tens, if not hundreds, of facial SPFs and this one really does stand up to many others I’ve tried. The tube is a generous size, the packaging is cute but more importantly it offers broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection. I love that the packaging lists that it is water resistant up to 80 minutes, as I find instructions on these products can often not give accurate information on when to reapply. The product is vegan, hypoallergenic and has no fragrance so it doesn’t break me out like some others do. The formula has no oil and it doesn’t exacerbate my oily skin, which is a problem I often suffer with. The texture is a nice lightweight lotion and it applies easily and absorbs quickly. I am taking 2 stars off for the issue I had which was pilling mostly. The formula balled right up and essentially chunked up as I rubbed it in. I always applied to a clean and dry face and it happened each time. I tried different methods such as rubbing in, using my hand to swipe in one singular direction, applying and patting in. I tried increasing and decreasing the amount I put on at any single application and the problems always occurred. I am taking off 1 star for the lack of response from Sun Bum. It's been several weeks now since I sent a message wanting to express my concern and inquire as to whether there was maybe a bad batch or to see if there were other solutions for me. I didn't hear anything back unfortunately. I wanted to wait till I heard back to leave a review because I do believe that customer service is part of the good and bad of any product. The 2 stars I have given this product are for its lack of fragrance and irritants – this is important to me when using a sunscreen on my face and near my eyes, nostrils, and mouth. And my favorite part of this formula and why I so desperately wanted it to work was it's lightness, this consistency is one of the best and I'd be sold for life on this product if it continued to have this light and milky consistency but without the issues I experienced. I enjoy the products for body that I have bought from Sun Bum. I have actually used the body SPF on my face and even though it is thick, I still love it. I just can't really use the products that have fragrance on my face, they are not a problem for my body but I have skin issues on my face that preclude their use on my face.Kristina
I am vacationing in FL for 2 months, and I am not someone who sits under a tent on the beach and never strays into the water. I spend a lot of time in the water, and my 57 year old skin and hair need a lot of help. I now have now bought 5 of your products: Original Surf Paste, Original Sunscreen SPF 50, Sunscreen Face Lotion, Face Serum and Cooldown Lotion. Al 5 products are exceptional, and I almost never leave reviews. The sunscreen is literally a joy to spread on, and I hate sunscreen. Normally, after 1 week my skin has little bumps all over it that you can’t see but you can feel. Mineral sunscreen doesn’t do that, but yuck. I have been here almost 3 weeks and no bumps! 😁. This is great, because we might move here in a few years. And the surf paste is great. Don’t know about the SPF level, but my hair is soft and happier than it normally is with extended exposure to sun and salt water. I love the after sun face serum. Very cooling. First I would like to say I love your product.. I recieved my recent order (order number 213187) and when I opened the box one of the shampoos had came open in transit and not only was it all over everything including the cute little drawstring pouch that the detox shampoo had been in, but my fairly expensive bottle of shampoo is wasted. It's a bit disappointing to say the least. Wanted someone aware this happened, I personally dont know about ordering again , I usually like to be able to use the product that I pay for, just sayin..I may suggest that rather than putting the very large monkey stickers in the box get smaller ones and seal the bottles shut for shipping with them. May want to pass that on or get me to someone else who can make it happen.. Sorry to be quite blunt, very frustrating.. First let me say I’m pale. Like, wicked pale. LIKE, FAMILY CAME FROM IRELAND LESS THAN A CENTURY AGO pale. I know nothing about tanning and do not claim to. I work from home, and on nice days I like to sit on the porch and work, and it was the perfect day for also trying out this product. I had no idea what to expect, but followed the instructions by applying sunscreen first and then the tanning lotion. I would say within an hour my arms, shoulders, chest, and neck were noticeably darker. Just as a side note, I tend to burn easily, and I had no burns whatsoever. That said, my legs were a bit more of a challenge- I sat in direct light with my legs up and exposed in the sun, and felt like I wasn’t making any real progress below the knee, but my knees and thighs we’re getting some color. It kept looking like the lotion was just absorbing into my skin without doing much of anything. i had to keep reapplying in that area to see some results where I did not have to do that anywhere else. It didn’t bother me so much, it was just an observation. By the end of my workday though, I had a nice sunkissed look that was natural and flattering- not orange or overdone, something I was worried about as such a pale person. I only wanted a nice healthy glow, and this definitely did that! A few other things to note though: -I bought this online and didn’t expect the actual lotion itself to be brown. I wanted this to be something I could bring to the beach and on vacation, but putting this very dark lotion on my very pale body looked… a bit problematic. I think this is something I’ll keep in my backyard. -Yes, it smells like chocolate and that smell is definitely subjective. It fades though. -It takes a while for the lotion to dry/absorb, so make sure you give yourself some time before you start moving around and touching things Overall though, I do really like this product!
