This exercise bike is in every way perfect to get enjoyable workouts. It is compact by just removing a pin and pushing it into the 2nd hole so that nothing flops around when you move it on the wheels on the front. The wheels don't touch the ground until you tilt the bike so it is steady when you are riding it with all 4 round rubber pads on the ground. The quiet noise level when working out is the most enjoyable experience as I can watch movies (old Maverick cowboy movies) with the sound not turned up. The peddling motion is really smooth and the readings are easy to read and I can keep my pulse rate right where I want it to be. It takes up very little space when stored up right and is easily moved and fairly light. It takes a 270 lbs man riding easily with no problem. After I received my stationary bike, I’m very happy that I made the right decision on it. I work at a restaurant and get off really late, that’s why I don’t have that much time to go gym to work out. This bike it’s really convenient to move around with its wheels. The another good thing for it is that it doesn’t make noise when I use it. So I can do exercise whenever I like to. I bought this for my mother (63) who moved to FL and had since become pretty idle which isn't good. While she was here she was walking up to 5 miles a day but she moved there and walking ceased, some weight was gained, stamina decreased, body aches returned/got worse, she started needing her and it just wasn't good. Idle bodies break down, probably especially older ones. So I figured that since she sat around the house, she could at least 'move' while sitting, get those legs working again, regain some stamina, burn some calories, tone some muscles and it might improve her body aches (she has arthritis in her knee, reduced cartilage and sometimes gets those gel injections), etc. Well, she loves it! She's had it 2-3 weeks and began a routine 2 days after receiving it. She uses it 4-5 days a week and her goal was to get to 10,000 reps/cycles a day within a month and eventually use it for her arms too; well, she's at about 7,500-8,000 reps a day, using it for arm exercises too, her knee pains have decreased, she can make it up the whole flight of stairs without getting winded halfway, she hasn't needed her cane since after about a week or use, she said she feels better and more so, it has stopped her from being so idle. This product is even better because it is lightweight and folds for portability, but also because of it's low price; I wasn't concerned because it was inexpensive, I look at customer reviews for products and go from there. I would recommend this product to others and am highly considering buying it for my 'other mother' who recently retired and who I don't want to become idle when she relocates, but I also think it's good for myself while I'm just sitting around watching TV, more so since I'm inside so much more due to current events and restrictions.ariespoet
I thought I was going to hate this machine. I LOVE IT. It is light-weight and easy to carry and does not take much space. This machine is great for people just starting out on an exercise regime. It is particularly good for elderly people to help keep them moving. The monitor works well so it is easy to keep track of progress. The downside is that the machine creeps forward when in use. I solved this by placing two rubber door stops behind each side of the front bar and two rubber door stops in front of the rear bar. Other than the resistance being poor and the creeping, this machine has merit for beginners, elderly and possibly those with ailments that would benefit from pedaling motions. I've had this for six weeks now and am thoroughly enjoying it whilst still getting to learn how to use it. I did a lot of reading about the various turbo trainers available and chose the Tacx Flux S as a mid to higher end option. The spec offers 1500 watts resistance and a 10% slope. I felt at aged 61 that would be more than adequate! I set up my Cannondale Synapse on the trainer. The advantage of this was that my bike was already configured for me after a bike fit so was comfortable. Because the Synapse has a 105 group set, I put a 105 cassette on the trainer too to make it directly parallel. The Flux S does not come with a cassette so there was a slight extra cost there, together with an even smaller cost for the tool that enable you add or remove a cassette. Initially I just rode a few power rides to get a feel for the machine.Once I knew I was around for a few weeks, I initiated the 31 days free trial of the Tacx interface. I set up my old 49" LED TV in the garage with an old surround sound Blue Ray player with the plan to plug the laptop in to get an immersive experience of the software. Sadly, the HDMI ports failed on the TV but I can watch DVD movies via a component lead. The Tacx app comes with rides that can be logged as power or slope workouts at no charge. Then there is a fee for the training programmes and the 'movies' which are classic rides from around the world. You watch the ride unfolding (hence the big screen TV!) and the app simulates gradients by adjusting the resistance on the flywheel via Blue Tooth. I've now started the Tacx training programme which will take me through various rides with incremental effort. The programme starts with a measure of Functional Threshold Power (FTP). I think I managed to set my first FTP st too low a level by not quite realising when I was supposed to exert myself maximally. This will be rectified at the next FTP test! Whilst reading about trainers, many reviewers wrote about the need for a fan to keep cool as obviously there is no headwind. Despite it being set up in my garage, and despite very cold weather, I still got very hot and sweated out at least 1kg despite drinking water so I guess a fan is the next expenditure with which to annoy my lovely wife! Finally, how nice to be riding with no worry of SMIDSYs, close passes or any other road misdemeanours that we normally risk on the road. No significant negatives to report. I did find the app slightly clunky initially but I think that was just normal learning. Also, don't forget to hit 'start' for the programmed rides. I was 10 minutes into this mornings 90 minutes before I realised! Final word of thanks to the Sigma team who answered all my questions by email prior to purchase and are providing me with good after sales care too. If you're thinking about it, go for it. I bought this smart trainer as my first leap into smart training during winter and lockdown.. Having read the reviews tacx have got it right. This isn't the most up to day packed with features trainer that you pay Iver a £1k price tag for but something that is easy to set up easy to use and great for me to ride indoors. I hooked it up easy to my garmin and zwift and it worked as described. Living in a remote area I don't have the best Internet but it was sound. The speed lags a little but that hasn't worried me and I think that's more an Internet issue. I can thoroughly recommend this product and Sigma we're absolutely brilliant in every way. I am really pleased with Tacx FLUX S smart trainer. I was a bit hesitant with this purchase, having read a number of reviews criticizing the inconsistent connectivity from the trainer to display devices. I have not had any connection issues. I use the FLUX S with Zwift through my laptop (MacBook Pro). I connect with an ANT+ dongle, but Bluetooth seems to work, too. I had to get a USB-C adapter for the ANT+ receiver. Everything has worked without issues for my first 5 rides – to include my Garmin cadence sensor and Garmin Heartrate Monitor. I also connect the trainer to my Garmin Edge 530. It works without any issues…but this is where I downgrade this review by a star. For some reason, the data output on my Edge 530 differs from the data from Zwift. The mileage and watts often come in lower on the Garmin than what Zwift shows. I am still sorting through the Garmin documentation and it just may be user error on my part.
