Reviews:
Nice tailgate pad. Smaller one fits my nissan frontier great (even with the stupid tailgate top plastic spoiler). Front pad for fork rest is nice and thick. Smart design of opening for tailgate handle/backup camera. DOwntube pad is nice and stiff- this would be the only place the pad could maybe use more padding. Time will tell. Super solid hauling bikes around town. The rubberized finish stays clean and wipes off easily. Good price and free shipping from ALs.Will
(Please read to the end. I left my original review because it pertains to the update and how much Raceface customer service rocks) This is my first tailgate pad. Functionally, it works. Cosmetically, it looks awesome. I've owned it for about a month and have used it several times. I have two issues with it: 1. There is no padding where it rests on the top of the tailgate. This is where my bike's frame makes contact with it. I have invisiframe on my downtube and it is starting to get wrinkled and pushed up. Without protection for your bike, you will eventually lose paint or get a scratch where the frame meets the tailgate and rubs the tailgate edge. 2. The idea of a grommet on the pad to secure it to the truck is a great idea. I use a simple bike lock to do this. But the grommet is already coming out of the pad. I bought the pad off of Amazon and unfortunately I can't exchange it for a new one. I've read lots of good reviews on this pad. Maybe I just got a bad one. UPDATE: After speaking with Chris C. (a Raceface rep), I am fully satisfied with my pad and have gone from 2 stars to 5 stars. As far as the lack of padding on the top edge of the tailgate: I didn't watch the install video so I was installing the pad wrong. Haha, who would've guessed. (I also don't read most IKEA directions either…). I figured, it's a pad, how hard can it be? Well, it's not hard, but if you follow the step-by-step in the video, it will allow for full use and function of the pad the way it's supposed to be used. As far as the grommet is concerned, Chris arranged for a new pad to replace mine. So, awesome customer support and a great product will keep me coming back to Raceface for a lot of my future clothing and bike needs! Thank you Raceface, and thank you Chris!
Original worked better but fell apart after two years. This new t2 bunches up just as bad even though they added 7 un necessary straps to correct the problem. Not enough padding where down tube sits on tailgate seems like it will damage bike. Also the ribs or blocks for down tube to rest in don’t even make contact with the bike because of where they’re located. And no pocket. Does seem like the materials are stronger though. Maybe it will last longer. I would not buy this rack again.Kevin W.

Reviews:
I bought this knowing that Thule products are of the highest quality. It seems to be made very durable. Problem is, in looking at the picture, it looks like the top is squared off and that the pads are rubber. This isn't the case at all. The pads are just foam filled pillows. It's hard to get it to sit on the top of the tailgate flat as it's not sqare at all, it folds over the top. It still does the job is nothing like it is pictured. Securing it is a bit of a pain as well. It doesn't cover the entire tailgate either.Scotty19
This thing is way over thought and over-engineered. Thule could have created a comparably useful product for well under $150. This pad looks like it was created for guide services. I would love to see something built for the average consumer: 4 bikes, less padding, and bike straps that actually fit. The ones found here are about 3 inches too long for most bikes. Even better, maybe something that locks to the truck, and locks the bikes?Trailwood
We looked at several options and chose this one because it looked the most up to the job. After 2 weeks of no shipping confirmation, it finally shipped. Once recieved and we opened it, it wasn't exactly the same one as pictured. We thought it was maybe a different model. One the top where the 90 degree angles are on the ends were not on the one we recieved. We didn't bother calling or sending it back – It seems it will work just the same. Just disappointed its not the one we thought we were going to get. I usually recommend Thule for other products as I have the snowboard racks and a few other products.Kari

Reviews:
I was excited to find an affordable solution that didn't involve me putting a pillow on my tailgate and a bike on that. Initial impressions were mixed once i got it in my hands. The felt inside was exactly as advertised, and the outer stitching looked robust. The velcro used to actually secure the bikes is incredibly weak, the padded portion on the velcro strap is not adjustable, meaning any bikes with larger upper tubes will go on crooked and one side will have the strap rubbing on the paint. The method of attachment of the pad to the tailgate was also poorly designed. If you run a tonneau cover of any sort, you cannot leave the pad on at all times. having to hold the tailgate at an angle while simultaneously feed the nylon strap up into the bed from the bottom of the tailgate and pull it up from above the tail gate requires two people or creative body placement. Removal, thankfully, is quick and easy. One of the main selling points is the large covered opening for the outer tailgate handle and reversing camera popular on most modern trucks. The same weak velcro is used here, and once opened, offers no way to secure the flap. Alternatively, you could fold it up into the bed and hope the wind doesn't close it, but doing so loses the ability to use the three middle slots for bikes. Again, poor design choices. In short, one step forward in bike transportation with a dedicated platform designed to do a better job than pillows and pool noodles, but two steps back with rushed, poor design decisions, shoddy materials where it matters, and an unfriendly user experience all around, especially given the price("on sale" for $134US). Hoping the lessons learned from this failed product inspires other companies to do better.
After about half of year of use the velcro barely works on all of the pads. I go mountain biking ever weekend so there’s no heavy use Tbh. Now I have to buy another one and they’re not cheap. Definitely not getting this one again and I don’t recommend this one to anyone if u want your stuff to last.Jaime 714
I had this for a few months and initially it was working fine for hauling a couple of bikes. Unfortunately recently, with a mountain bike strapped in, the plastic piece snapped straight off and my bike flew off the back of my truck on the highway. I was lucky this didn't cause an accident. To me, it looks like the plastic pieces holding the straps together are not strong enough for mountain bikes and appear to be hollow plastic. As a result, I cannot recommend this product.TiSE

I found this online as the best price available for this pad. Free shipping and it arrived in four days. The pad works well I was able to fit five full suspension mountain bikes in my Silverado. The only thing I don’t like is it’s a little difficult to disconnect once it’s set upDc
Good stuff (full-sized truck tailgate pad) from EVOC – high quality, good fit, attractive, AND adaptable to ebikes. Movatik handled my order well taking care of a situation that arose with shipping. The customer service crew was as professional as could be (way to go, Ryan!). So, a five-star experience. Keep up the good work Movatik!Carol R.

General: I bought this for my new ford ranger since it is the pad that ford sells at the dealer. It fits ok, but some side to side draping that was odd. The camera flap is just long enough. The camera is pretty low on the new ranger. Easy to put on. I put my two mountain bikes on it. The specialize down-tube isn't that fat but the strap is barely long enough. I put my wife cannonade (probably one of the largest MTB down-tubes) on and the down-tube strap was way too short. This seems odd since mountain bike tubes are thick. The bad: As I tighten up the down-tube strap for the first time, the stitching came out on just one of the bike down-tube straps. This is definitely the most critical stitching since it is the connection of the strap to the main blanket. This is unacceptable and showed a lack of quality I did not expect from Yakima. The good: Backcountry is great and helped me get this resolved. I cannot say enough about the great support at Backcountry. Buy with confidence that they will make it right.William P

Fast delivery, item as described and best price anywhere. thanks!Michael R.
I called this company directly and they took my order over the phone. The package arrived so quick, perhaps that I live 4-5 hours away helps. But never the less, this company Movatik pulled through with a good price on my purchase, Yakima tailgate Bike Rack for my Tacoma 2017.Remy P.
I've previously owned a Fox and Dakine pad. This is far and away superior. Thick straps to affix to the tailgate with solid buckles that hold the pad tight. No velcro (or equivalent) to wear out or fail from sunlight. I could imagine some people might crank the downtube straps too tightly and begin to tear the straps off the pad but you really don't need atomic forces to keep the bikes upright and in place. This is a quality product and I expect the durability to match my first impressions.onefin
7. Fox Racing Black Tailgate Cover Large

Product Details:
Protect your truck and your bikes with this tailgate cover by fox. plush padding cushions both bikes and truck, preventing dents and scratches that occur during transport. multiple webbed straps allow for easy attachment, and convenient flap provides access to the tailgate handle. available in two sizes, small and large, this truck pad can hold between 5 and 6 bikes, making trips to the top much easier. small measures 33.5" l x 54" w x 16 "h; large measures 34" l x 62" w x 19" h.

Reviews:
After one use, the tailgate pad had rubbed down to the threads where the bike frame contacts the pad. The bike was installed securely and I only drove about 25 miles on the highway. I have pictures if anyone from Fox or Movatik reads this and cares to see. I’ll continue using it to see how it holds up but off to a bad start.Steven W.
Love the tailgate cover. Easy to install and carry bikes! Padding adds a nice cushion to prevent denting and scratching vehicle. My only suggestion is to add a snap or strap to hold back the flap that covers the tailgate handle so it doesn't interfere with the camera that assists in going in reverse. Otherwise it's great! It is a great alternative to a bike rack!
I wanted to give it a 1star honestly but that wouldn't be fair since it was my lack of knowledge and research that led me to order the wrong thing. The site states it's 1 size but it meant to say full size truck tail gates. I purchased it thinking it was one size fits all but did not fit my mid size Toyota Tacoma tailgate. Measures 62" across. It's a very nice tail gate is but to big for may mid sized truck.Jimmy

I wanted this to work because it’s minimalistic but unfortunately it just doesn’t hold the bike in place and it doesn’t have enough surface coverage to prevent scratches if the bike shifts around while the truck is in motion. The end result was my tailgate paint and bike paint getting scratched.crazy about the Uintas

This tailgate pad is the bees knees. I’ve had it for about a year and use it regularly. The padding is great and I haven’t had issues loading up 4 bikes on here. My favorite feature is the little gear pouch on the back; it’s perfect for holding some small tools, an extra tube and riding gloves. I haven’t seen this on any other pads which I find insane because it’s so useful.Rits V
We still need to test it with bikes on, but here's a picture of the Large pad on a Silverado if anyone is looking for reference. The fabric quality is great, but I found it a pain to get on. It's designed to stay on the truck once it is in place. So that might be the biggest draw back for us because we don't want it to live on the truck at all times and it is not quick enough to put on when we are just running up the canyon for a short after-work ride. Seems more suited for hauling bikes on trips. Or just leave it on and pray it doesn't bake or fade in the sun and that it can withstand getting rained on. Or I guess you don't have to strap it on every time you put it on, use it like a blanket with the webbing free to fly around or get creative with knots or something.Katy S
Please don't get too wrapped up in any "poor design" comment posts on this product…it took me all of 8 min to install, came in perfect condition and was delivered in less than 2 days. The pad has some of the same limitations as any other pad in that it would be difficult to transport 6 large Enduro or dh bikes as advertised and is really probably good for 4 to 5 comfortably. The straps are well made and the pad itself is easy to align with the top drawstring as my 2021 silverado has a wide tailgate top but posed no issue. Little difficult getting the straps under the tailgate and up but this is the case with all pads. Only reason it's getting a 4 vs 5 is that it's so well padded and sturdy this isn't going to store easily under a back seat or anything when not in use. Please don't hesitate to purchase…great product!!Shawn T
11. Fox Overland Tailgate Pad – Medium Black

Throw your tailgate cover on, cinch it down, load up the bikes and go. there is no easier way to head to the top. with 6 straps on the full and 5 straps on the mid, the fox tailgate cover can help shuttle your whole crew while protecting your bikes and pickup from dings and scratches.

Good looking pad and good construction. As advertised, the top section of the pad can be cinched up for varying tailgate thickness. The multipro tailgate on GMC/Chevy is too wide – hopefully the pad will stretch out a little for a better fit. Bike straps are not long enough for thicker-ish frames (Yeti) which it super silly. Top section needs to be wider and bike straps need to be longer; both pretty elementary design elements to mess up.Adam W.
Ordered a sharp looking black pad. Received a hideous tan monstrosity. Not all what was pictured. I guess this price was to good to be true. I'll just keep my trusty TROY LEE DESIGNS pad. Super disappointed. This thing is so ugly they couldn't pay me $80 to put it on my truck. Hard pass.
I was using a hitch mount bike rack and it is awesome, but sometimes cumbersome and a pain to put on and off for a simple ride. I don’t mind spending a little more for quality when it will protect the things I love, like my truck and my bikes. This tailgate pad is amazingly simple to put on (F150) throw the bike on and go. Bike is held on secure, can see out my reverse camera, and it looks awesome on my truck. Great purchase.Mike V.

I have always had pickups, and I have owned a few different pickup pads. backup cameras are awesome, but make trouble for the fit of a pickup pad. My latest truck, and jeep gladiator, is small and has a backup camera, and none of the pads would fit properly. This little Evoc pad is perfect, quick to install, easy to leave on indefinitely, and has the most engineering and fit and finish of any of the pads I have tried recently. I would even consider a second pad for more bikes. This is definitely best for one bike. Very easy to toss a bike in for a quick ride. Two bikes fit well with some attention to make sure nothing is rubbing. Three bikes no way.cBOYD
Dont work properly, because the bike are not firm on pad. Compare with Fox pad its better.bekachga

Reviews:
The pad fitment itself is great on my 2014 Tacoma, and I was able to get my bike, and a few other friends bikes on it no problem. However, I noticed that the pad had scratched the downtube of my new bike pretty severely after using it ten or so times. I called customer support and their response was "Put some protective tape on your bike." I don't think this is a great solution, and if it's the case, it should be advertised that it is necessary when buying this product. The point of the pad is to protect your bike while transporting it….right? Pretty disappointed, especially with so many good reviews.Jim D.
Stand out from the crowd. There is a wide variety of gear that is functional, usually in black, grey or brown. And yes Dakine makes some awesome gear in that category as well. But when you feel the need to stand out, be a bit bold and let your style speak as loudly as your stoke and skills, then Dakine gear should always be your first stop. Not affiliated with them, just a big fan on and off the bike. Always my go to for function that is funky Keep Rising.Aleksandar R.
2000 Toyota Tacoma. Dakine has mastered the tailgate pad. It's simple, it's attractive, and it gets the job done. Unlike other pads there's nothing extra going on. The pad looks great on your pickup and is discreet in its delivery. 5 straps on the smaller pad work flawlessly to hold the bikes in place whether they're small steel tubes or fat carbon. It offers complete functionality of the truck which I love, a sleek design means nothing hanging out in the bed so I can still utilize the full bed and the tailgate opperates as it should. The only thing that I've found is that on my truck, the opening for the latch is a touch high and I have to reach down behind the pad a little to open it. That however is impossible to get perfect for every truck when offering a universal pad so it's still a 5/5 from me!

Reviews:
I love the tailgate pad and feel it was worth every penny over competitor brands at half the price. I like the look and functionality, the microfiber on the paint side and security grommet are a nice feature. For me, it's an elegant solution for carpooling to rides with riders whose bikes have skewer wheels and/or through axles. My other bike rack does not have that versatility nor the capacity (2 bikes vs. 5 straps on the Pickup Pad.Terry H.
The pad remains well-secured to the tailgate which in turn allows my bike to stay well-secured using the the velcro downtube straps. I use the DLX (large) on an '18 Tundra and it fits well. Installation is a little bit of a bear unless you have Kevin Durant length arms. I had a previous generation Dakine pad (small) on an '04 Colorado and it was maybe 2 minutes to throw on. This big one takes around 5-10 minutes (it also uses 4 straps vs. three). I use a magnet clip to feed the end of the strap through the tailgate seam (clip the strap, magnet to the bed seem, reach over, feed it through x4 straps). Once it's on you can perfect its position to the backup cam. The newer DLX also has a grommet installed on the driver side corner to lock it to a tie/down while your'e out riding which is nice for some peace of mind. Unfortunately, no patterns w/ the new DLX (except for some wicked lame "demon" theme ridiculousness with horns and stuff, c'mon dakine, your market for this item probably isn't 14 year old boys crooning for a tattoo when they turn 18 #bringbackstackedpattern). The all black can look fairly ghetto with the shadows/creases if it's not adjusted just right. Overall a pretty good pad/don't waste time shopping around, cheapest bet will prob be on evo with a promo code.Eric
Picked up this tailgate pad for a 2018 Tacoma, and so far I'm very happy with it. Super easy to install, and the the materials seem like they'll hold up in East Coast weather. Installed some clear vinyl on the tailgate before installing the pad, to protect the paint. Would've given 5 stars, but the camera/handle flap could be improved as it's a little funky to fold under the pad, but overall good quality and would recommend for shuttles or trips to the trailhead.Patrick G.

Bought this for my Ram 3500 and have comfortably stacked 6 bikes on the rack. It has 8 slots but I feel like it wouldn’t provide a lot of room. If you’re good at puzzles and preventing the bikes from running against each other you could stack 8 bikes. The pad is great though! Easy to install and take off when you’re done. Easy to clean.Joel S.
