If you're wondering if this is the old-school vanilla/orangy scent of yesteryear, I'm here to tell you IT IS!!! This scent always takes me right back to the days of indoor tanning in the 90's. While I don't indoor tan anymore, I still longed for a moisturizer that had this smell to it. I purchased this originally from a BBB near my house after I began peeling after a vacation I took. I bought it and started putting it on and I saw a big difference. moisture began to return. since I was applying so frequently I went back a week later to buy another bottle so I didn't run out. when I went back they were out of it. They told me they carried at a different location so I went and purchased 2 more bottles. it was not until I got home that I realized that although it was the same name on the bottle, the ingredients were different. the ones I now have I noticed had salicylic acid in it which as everyone knows makes skin actually peel and turn over faster. thus not holding the tan but making your skin peel. I called the company and found out that this was an old formula that had since been changed after they received complaints of it drying skin out. they changed their formula in 2015. so I was being sold 3 year old bottles. not cool BBB. I went through my camera roll to compare before and after using. I really do love this lotion. I didn't realize how tan I was looking until my gym posted some workout pictures and I saw myself (the high-five pic on the right). Even my sister commented on my tan after I sent it to her. I put it on most every day but sometimes skip to every other day. It's a very thin lotion, so I will moisturize my dry areas (ankles, knees, elbows) with a thicker lotion first, then use the Tan-Luxe over my whole body (minus my face; I use their tan drops mixed in with my face lotion). I put it on in the morning after my shower and literally forget about it. I'm not careful or precise; I put it on as quickly as I do any lotion. I don't worry about not getting wet or not washing my hands for hours afterwards; I go about my regular day. Subtle, not unpleasant smell. I haven't noticed any transfer on my bedsheets (white, printed sheets). If I wear a lighter shirt a few days in a row (wear it, sleep in it, wear it again) I have noticed a very light tan ring around the neck which does come out with no problem in a normal wash. If I take a hot bath and when I shave, I do see some tan color in the water. The only spots I need to be careful with are my hands/wrists. After I apply with bare hands all over my body, I wash my hands with soap and water then take a small kabuki brush and buff a small amount around my wrists, over my hands, and in between my fingers. Every so often at night, I'll do the same thing to let the color develop over night. I've done it once or twice to my feet/ankles, but that's barely been an issue. I've tried other tanning lotions/mousses/waters, but this is the least maintenance out of all of them with some of the best results. It doesn't give me that ultra dark look, but it does give me a good glow, like I'm fresh off a mini vacation somewhere warm. Highly recommend and don't plan on going back. As a girl who needs to be about 3 shades darker than my natural skin tone at all times to be happy but also a huge stickler about sun filters and avoiding damage, I have spent my way through a small arsenal of UV-less tanning products (in addition to regular spray tans 2x per month). Here’s my take: Pros: odor isn’t amazing, but better than most and it fades quickly. I’m pretty sensitive to smells can’t sleep in strongly scented products and I can apply this pretty close to bed time and not have a problem. It blends well and is very easy to apply, in part because it’s super fluid (viscosity more like a serum than a lotion). It’s definitely a gradual but shows up. I keep a nice even 3 shades deeper using every other day. In arm and leg baring season I usually keep a spray tan, one about every 10-12 days. This is the PERFECT compliment for that because it doesn’t affect the existing tan and it provides a nice base before you get sprayed and helps them last longer and the fading process between visits much more even and so much less noticeable and without any areas of stark contrast. Cons: flip side of the very fluid texture, it can be a little tough to control and messy. I usually have a few stray drops on the floor to clean up after an application. The biggest downer, and what loses a star for me is it is ironically, very drying and provides no benefit as a moisturizer. It’s difficult to avoid some drying from DHA but my legs get downright ashy (the tan making the dry skin a little more obvious) if I don’t alternate a “real” moisturizer in some days. On the whole though, probably the best gradual tan/spray tan maintenance product I’ve found and if then could work in some emollient to help the drying it would be pretty close to perfect.Cocodogsmom

Ive learned to use vinyl gloVes when i apply it, because washing my hands after 30 seconds of use wAs making my hands raw lol. Anyways, im so glad i foung this lotion. Important Note- i am terrible at the pre tan routine, and this stuff still looks great. About once a week i do a deep scrub, but i can slab on one, two, three layers of this stuff through out the week and it looks GreAt- at least i think so and all my friends have Said that. Its not for everyone, but this one is definitely for me!!

I bought this tanning lotion thinking it was for gradual tanning. It's not. You get color in about 3 hours, just like any other tanning lotion. I suppose you can build on it, but you do get that initial color just like other self tanner. I had high hopes that it wouldn't smell – but those hopes were dashed when the tell-tale DHA smell became evident after a couple of hours. I doused myself with body spray from Bath & Body Works, but there isn't much you can do to mask THAT smell. Just bear through it for a day or so. I do like the color. It is even (not streaky at all) and does last 3+ days. If you can get past the initial odor phase, it's worth it. Unfortunately it is all about the smell for me, so I probably won't purchase it again. My husband absolutely HATES the self tanner smell.
I actually use the quick tan spray but couldn’t find it on here. It’s the only self tanner I find that works so nicely. The color adjusts to each persons on tone of color. The airbrush spray works just as well as going out and getting a spray on tan. Just make sure that you exfoliate your skin before using. Will last for a couple weeks. I am a repeat purchaser of this product and probably always will be. The price is pretty good in comparison to others I’ve used that I didn’t like nearly as well.dominique.d
Nice even natural color developed over 8 hours; I moisturized spots like knees and feet to avoid over tanning darkness. Took a shower the next day and it retained its color. Just a shame that I felt sticky the day I applied it, but it did not transfer onto clothes, etc. But I think all the gradual moisturizing tanners are sticky for a day for me.Linda T.

I am a little bit larger sun worshiper and found that the consistency of the product served me well. It was a tad thinner than some products I have used, however, it was much easier to apply to my body than most other products I have used and it stayed on my skin just as well as other products. Brought this because I have ALWAYS suffered from prickly heat across my back, chest and feet, (prickly heat is caused by sun lotions clogging up your sweat glands) I have tried so many creams and methods for keeping it at bay and nothing has worked. UNTIL this amazing product. I brought both the factor 30, and also the smaller factor 15. Usually by day 4 in a hot climate with usual suncreams I would break out in the typical itchy prickly heat blisters, but I am currently on day 10 in a very hot and sunny Gran Canaria. With zero symptoms whatsoever. To say this is a miracle is an understatement. I am SO impressed. Additionally I don't think I have ever had such an amazingly even tan or such soft skin. (I'm male btw) However there are some quirks to the products, first is that you need to put this on to dry skin, otherwise you will struggle to get rid of the white cream as it doesn't mix well with the moisture on your skin… With this in mind it's worth noting that because this product allows your skin to perspire, you may notice that you are sweating significantly more than you would with normal creams. Also because this isn't as water "resistant" as normal creams you will have to reapply more regularly.l, however from my experience a little does go a long way. If you haven't worked it out from my review this is fantastic. If you suffer from prickly heat…. Then this is an absolute must. It's pricier than standard creams…. But trust me it's worth every penny.Geoff
After 4 years (on and off) of failing to find a suncream which I was not allergic to, this suncream has finally fixed that issue for me. I went to my GP and visited chemists and neither provided a solution. I took matters into my own hands and noted down products which I was allergic to and found common ingredients. One such ingredient was Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, known as Avobenzone, which is a core ingredient in common suncreams, even hypoallergenic versions. This suncream does not contain that ingredient and so I tested it and I have had no issues. This was a relief, as previous holidays and sunny days were spent weighing up the risk of an allergic reaction (heat rash type skin reaction, swollen eyes etc.) vs. running the risk of being sunburnt. I would highly recommend this for anyone who has faced similar issues. I recently went on a 7 day trip and have returned with a fair amount of suncream left, which is due to the good coverage this suncream provides. The suncream has a slight smell to it upon application, however it is not noticeable once applied. It provided me protection throughout the holiday. With it being SPF30, ensure you apply it approximately every 2 and half hours to avoid reaching the approx max of 3 hours. Aside from the product itself, Green People's shipping was great, from the sustainable nature of its packaging, to the updates throughout. I use sun cream daily on my face all year round and have tried so many over the years, all of them irritate my skin and sting my eyes and are just not convenient to use. Finally I found this product from Green People which is exactly what I was looking for. I can wear this all day with no issues whatsoever. I use their facial spf around my eyes and this over the rest of my face and shaved head. I find it has a slightly mattifying effect which I really like as a shaved head can get very shiny. It takes a little bit of rubbing into the skin but once done nobody would even know you're wearing it. I've never burned when using this product. I think for the amount you get and the quality of the product the price is very reasonable as when just using on your face and head it will last for months. I stick with this Pro Tan lotion as it appears to be the only one from the range that doesn't contain some degree of fake tan or 'tingling' sensation or other. I may be wrong on this but it would be helpful if the manufacturer actually stated on product if it contains fake tan or not other than using phrases like 'deepens your tan in an instant' (or something like that!). Please be advised that the “tingle” increases the circulation of blood and oxygen to the surface of the skin, which affects the production of melanin (the pigment that gives your skin its color) in the body. You WILL BE RED UP TO 1 hr AFTER TANNING. This is not an allergic reaction. This tanning lotion is one of my top 5 I will always reach for. If you want to get dark fast this is great. But you must rub in completely or you will have major streaks. Also, I spilled a little bit of water down my leg after applying ( which I thought was already soaked in) anyway after tanning I noticed I had a white line down leg. This lotion reminds me of really bad self tanners. But gets you dark fast but don't know if worth the hassle. Also wear gloves or wash your hands really really good right after applying.
