I love this indoor tanning lotion! It has a clean fragrance, not tropical like a lot of tanning lotions. It gives you an instant, natural hint of color that does not streak. The lotion goes on smooth as silk. It's important to wash your hands after applying. The lotion makes your skin feel alive while in the tanning bed. It is not a tingle lotion but.you can feel it working while tanning. I've tried a lot of bronzer tanning lotions but they either smell like you live inside a coconut or streak. This lotion has it all without screaming to those around you that you've gone to the tanning bed today.chryste.m

I am not a seller of Arbonne. However, I use their products for detox tea and an herbal cleanse. And I love both. They help get my gut right and clean out my whole system without being over intrusive. Shown in my photo are both the detox tea and the body cleanse. I love going tanning. In the rainy northwest were I live, we don’t get hardly enough sun. During the winter I offset my low vitamin D levels with some time in the tanning booth. As a WOC I love to deepen my skin tone and look evenly bronzed. This lotion helps me stay ahead of my tanning goals without breaking the bank. The extremely reasonable price point of this lotion makes it very budget friendly. I purchase these and leave them in my car, on my deck in case of a sunny day, and in my beach bag during the summer. Well it was Amazing on bronzing my skin with the black beads i saw almost instant results and no it didnt wash off in shower after tanning i loved it However after 2 days Red Hives started popping up all over me and I Itched to death. I am pale skinned and discovered the old branded version of this product (in the bronze bottle) a year or two ago which was the perfect colour and always streak free. Was more like a body lotion in consistency so easy to apply. Saw the promotion on the new branded bottles so assumed was the same but just different packaging and snapped two up as I use regularly. Unfortunately I was very disappointed to find St Tropez have *completely* changed the formula as well as the packaging and lotion is now thinner, much darker and like the old school fake tans from years back☹️Applied it anyway to try it out and found it is really strong smelling, thin and watery to apply and worst of all goes on with a noticeable green tinge-had my family calling me Shrek for the evening whilst I waited for it to dry!!!! Unsurprisingly the next morning I washed the guide colour off (thankfully the green didn’t stay on my skin!) but I was left with streaky arms and legs…I m a seasoned pro at tan application due to the need to apply frequently in the summer as I don’t tan easily and despite this I still had noticeable whiter patches which means I can no longer rely on this as my ‘go to’ tan. This is the worst product I have tried from St Tropez. They discontinued the old gradual tan firming lotion and replaced it with this one. It instantly sets and stains, there is nothing gradual about it. I used my hand first as this is the way I used to apply the old formula. It instantly turned my hand a greenish black seven after repeated washes. I used my mitt to apply the rest and I didn’t rub in one area of my leg fast enough and same problem instant blotchy streaks. After letting it dry for 30 minutes I got dressed and it stained my clothes. WORST TANNER I HAVE EVER USED! If I could give it zero stars I would.milkey

Really loved using this product as i love using St Tropez gradual self tans and was interested in using this firming gradual tan . It smelt gorgeous on application and application was fairly easy to apply it to my arms and legs. It absorbed fairly quickly and dried pretty quickly and it developed over the next 6-8 hours and I noticed the tan was a beautiful deep tan colour but also very natural. Loved that one application was enough for a gorgeous glow. It was also streak free especially around my wrists and ankles and was really natural and not orange. It also didn’t have the strong biscuity smell of most fake tans. Loved that you can build up the intensity day by day and incorporate this into your daily routine. I knocked off one star because the lotion is very emollient and if you use too much of the product it takes a good 3-5 mins to rub into the skin as it turns white on application! I noticed the second time I used less product this didn’t happen, so use less and gradually build up the application to avoid this happening in future! this is not the first time i’ve bought this stuff, just the first time i’ve ordered it from target. this is best used when you are ALREADY tan. i see a ton of comments saying it doesn’t work, but this is a TAN ENHANCER. it says on the bottle that you can use this without sunscreen, but i wouldn’t recommend unless you already have a tan. if you want to use this when you’re not tan and aiming to tan for the first time, use with a low SPF (6, 7, 8, 15, 30) and you will get tan. this stuff CAN and WILL stain your clothes? however, it washes out easily. dress accordingly if you don’t want brown stains on your bikinis/towels. smells like cocoa beans with a hint of chocolate. it’s a good smell, not at all overbearing. a bit greasy and takes a little to completely dry down, but that’s fine with me.Foxy

Okay I’m just gonna start off by saying that I can’t ever tan and burn super easily. The first time I tried this, I got a little tan but it left me with streaks everywhere, my shorts were stained and I was so disappointed. I decided to try it another time a week later to see if maybe I was doing something wrong and I was. The first time I used the bottle I shook it but I guess not enough so this time I did longer and then I put a super small (smaller than the first time) amount on my hands and really rubbed it in. Keep in mind I did this like 15-20 minutes before going out in the sun so I could really take my time and make sure I have absolutely no streaks and so I wouldn’t stain my clothes. That one time did not stain my clothes, no streaks, and I got a really good tan in just one day. So yes I would recommend this, just make sure you take your time with application and really rub everything it!suamy.f

Agree completely w/ long, most helpful review. I almost shamefully admit that I'm a very experienced tanner and tan very easily without burning. I apply La Roche Posay mineral 30 to my face & chest 1st. Next, I rub in a generous amount of Maui Babe everywhere else. Gives a gorgeous look all over. Smells nice with a tropical-coffee aroma. (not sure what anyone is talking about w/ teriyaki smell????) I don't get it too close to my bathing suits. I stand for a while or walk around my house or pool until it dries. I've had ZERO staining on bathing suits, towels, etc. I've laid out multiple times for 2-3 hrs (UV 8-10) and have not burned, BUT I have a base tan AND tan easily!!! Maui Babe does NOT have any SPF, I highly recommend wearing 30 SPF or higher UNDER Maui Babe. I've definitely gotten darker using Maui Babe than without it. I recommend!Roxiblu

This lotion is definitely in my Top 5 favorite indoor tanning lotions of all time– and with this one you can actually use it while tanning outdoors as well! The scent is probably my favorite thing about this lotion. It literally smells like a day at the beach with the coconut scent. I love how this lotion has color in it so you instantly feel like you got a little tan before ever stepping into the tanning bed. This lotion does not have bronzer in it so you do not have to worry about streaking. This is a great lotion for those who already have a base tan or for beginners. I have 4 children used palmers cocoa butter on my baby bump 2× daily to ward off stretch marks am very proud to say this product helped me accomplish my goal. After 4 babies it's some good stuff to work that well. It is very very thick moisturizing, it melts into my skin any itching I experienced was gone within minutes of applying. Very great tanning lotion! I work at a tanning salon so I purchased it there but this sells often. It has a scent that could work for both men and women and I love the way it smells. Definitely recommend to everyone to try it out even if you just purchase a packet first! It's the first bottle of tanning lotion I ever purchased and I still always go back to it. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because since I've worked at a tanning salon for a good while now, I've found lotions that I personally like better but I still love this one and always recommend it to clients so I also recommend to everyone else. This Designer Skin Escapade Bronzer lotion is my absolute favorite tanning lotion, by far! Not only does it smell wonderful before AND after tanning, but it gives you a great color, too. This is my absolute favorite tanning lotion. Not only does it smell amazing, but the bronze color of it is really gorgeous. I was lucky enough to receive this product to review so here is my honest opinion. It’s the product I never knew I needed and I love it! So easy to apply and the colour was perfect for my skin tone and colour. It covered my little scar and discolouration without caking and made the broken vein in my leg so much less pronounced. It evened out the tone of my stretch marks too. My skin looked healthy and tanned and looking good without looking like I was caked in make up. This tan works really well. With exfoliating and shaving it comes out pretty even. I don't know why they call it a gradual tan as I find it works just like a normal tan and pretty much the same as their more expensive tanning elixir at £34 for 150ml. I do find the first application of the year is not quite dark enough and do a 2nd one 2 days later after exfoliating and shaving and the colour looks good and pretty even, I do have to do that every 2 days thereafter to maintain the colour and evenness as I exfoliate and shave every two days. I do think my skin replaces itself quite rapidly though so others may get a more long lasting result and also if they exfoliate and shave a bit less too. With my skin it starts to get patchy and paler by day 3 if I haven't re-done it. It does feel sticky when applied and does give that usual fake tan smell several hours after application, but they all do.Alcazar

What makes it different is that it doesn't smell on keratin. I like it's slight fragrance, it makes it more appealing instead of strong perfume or the smell of keratin. It gives quite nice dark shade of my medium type skin. Definitely Medium works for my skin tan. I had to chase information about the product to make sure I'm using it correctly. That could of been skipped if it was written on the packaging, other than that I find it quite good value for money. I have a spider veins on my legs and after application it makes then less visible. not completely but still quite helpful for the summer. I also like the creamy texture. You don't need to apply tons of product, just a little bit on the glove is enough. When you finish you will realize that you didn't used much of the product unlike other brands.MariyaD

I am fair but tan easily there are times in the winter I would like to be tan and feel like summer. Out of the many products there is out there to use this is not the greatest. I think the application is quick but blending isn't good because it dries to quick before you can even do a tiny area.I tried using a lotion and coconut oil to moisturize before applying the makeup lotion and still dries quickly and blotchy. I had such high hopes that it would be simple and beautiful. The smell was pleasant it didn't break me out or stain my hands. Gentle washing with warm water soap and washcloth brings this product off instantly which for a tanning product is amazing. It has so much potential maybe a slightly new formula may help.The look of the packaging was nice a girly pink big readable text which is something I love in a product. The color was spot on not orange or yellow just a perfect brown tan for this price that amazed me. This is a free product I received as a participant of WalMarts’ Spark Review process established to help prospective buyers shop confidently, be informed and to aid in a positive shopping experience. I have posted a simple YouTube video review for those more visual shoppers which is linked for your convenience below. Disappointment is the first thing that comes to mind with this product. Why, the fake color and hues it puts off reminds me of the fake tan applications gone wrong. So the appearance is not realistic enough for me to consider wearing. The consistency is unlike lotion, thicker and heavier than most foundations. It goes on so thick and heavily that working into the skin for even coverage takes a lot of time and in my experience I was still unable to get even coverage. I utilized my fingers and then tried applying it with a makeup wedge to see if that improved. In order to achieve even coverage, I then had to apply translucent powder. I feel, if you have to add more makeup, to makeup to make it look good, then it isn’t working. Especially if still want to maintain a more natural appearance. More about the product itself, what it does do, is moisturize as promised. It also washes off with a little bit of effort however, do not use a facecloth until it is all gone to avoid staining. I used baby wipes at first to clean my face then followed up with my normal face cleaning routine. The value for performance is off balance. There are powder bronzers on today's market that far outperform this product without having to heavily apply layers of makeup. The overall appearance of the packaging is nice and in tradition with L’Oreal Paris trademark packaging. They thoughtfully created a color cap close to color of the bronzer lotion. This was smart packaging. The cap clicks open with little effort and closes securely. The tube itself is not too wide and easy to handle. The packaging was super. No damage was found from distributor to my home. Walmart shipped via FedEx packaged in a box. I am not very happy with this product and, would not recommend to my family and friends.The quality for the value did not exceeded my expectations and I would not purchase this product for myself or others.Love

I am always very skeptical, of these instant tan products. I have tried many different types and different brands, over the years. I have not been satisfied with any of them, as they have all given my skin an orange tint. I still continue to try new instant tan products, though, hoping to one day find one that does a nice job and does not give my skin an orange tint. I had high hopes, for this L'Oreal Sublime Bronze. L'Oreal is a respected brand, which I have used previously, and I thought the description, of the product, sounded promising. It claims to be a 5-IN-1 formula that delivers spectacular results; instant summer tan, blurred imperfections, flawless finish, improved softness and 24 hour hydration. "Because You're Worth It." Well, it certainly sounds wonderful! Unfortunately, the lovely smelling cream gives my skin the dreaded orange tint. A single layer is not too bad, it gives my skin a little color, with only a slight orange tint. However, if I apply a second time for a "more intense result", my skin is Smurf orange. The product has ingredients that consist of water, as the first ingredient, mineral oil, palm oil and a host of other ingredients that cannot be easily pronounced. It also contains fragrance, that I must say is very nice. That was a surprise, as most other instant tan products that I've tried, had an unpleasant scent. This product smells really fresh and pretty, so that's a plus. I wanted to use this product on my legs. I live in Florida and have worn jeans, over the winter – so I have tanned arms and pale legs. I was hoping to give my legs some color, so I could wear shorts and not look so uneven. I think I might be able to use this product, for that purpose, but I may be a bit self-conscious about it, because of the orange tint. So I will only use it, until my legs get some color of their own. This product has no sunscreen. If you want to tan, while using it, and need to use a sunscreen, this product will be affected, by the application of additional products. This product is more like an actual self tanner rather than a gradual self tanning lotion. In the past I have used Jergens Natural Glow, St. Tropez Watermelon Gradual Tanning Lotion, and more recently Bondi Sands Gradual Tanning milk. I really like Loving Tans ultra dark foaming self tanner so I wanted to try this product next. After showering, exfoliating, and drying off I applied the product to my skin like you would a lotion. When I woke up the next morning I was like 12 shades deeper!! Which was fine and it looked nice except I didn't pay meticulous attention to my feet, ankles, or knees because I wasn't expecting such a dark payoff so quickly. The tops of my feet and my ankles looked hilarious but everywhere else was a nice deep, golden, hydrated looking tan. I didn't even have to re-apply the product to achieve the desired effect. Next time I will use the lotion more sparingly to have better control over how deep it develops. I would definitely recommend this lotion to more experienced tanners but keep in mind that a little really does go a long way.Nrsmarkie

I love this tan. I dislike the patches that cling to my knees and elbows no matter what tips I follow using mousse and how many YouTube videos I watch to avoid them. This tan is amazing if you want to avoid that. I still moisturise my knees and elbows before but it clings far less than any mousse tan. It gives me a great depth of colour and in the winter it looks natural when I am paler. It has a guide colour just like a mousse and developed on my skin overnight, I showered the next day and I was impressed with how natural this looked. You should still use a mitt as this is a strong gradual tan. It wears off your skin so much nicer than any mousse I have tried too: no patches.Emily

This should not be called gradual tan at all. I applied it with my bare hands and did not think much about it. It had a slight tint but overall felt like applying normal body lotion. Overnight this one coat developed into a regular tan comparable with any self tanner I used before. The dark shade of this tan turned into a beautiful golden colour on me. It lasted almost for a week without any further reapplication. The only downside of this product is that it is much harder to scrub it off than a regular self tan and you go through a bottle quite fast.Jane V.

The 'Classic' shade is the perfect color for light/fairer folks! Most tanners come out super orange on me, this one is the least orangey I've come across. Even better than when I tried a full spray tan. You MUST use a mitt, it's the best hack ever for a smooth application and I wish I would have known about them years ago! Would have saved me from many streaks and dyed palms. It also allows you to get a clean line along/under the jaw, which creates a natural looking contour since I don't use the tanner on my face. I prefer a foam to an over-time lotiony type, so this is perfect for me. It darkens a bit over time, but since its mostly instant you can see any unevenness as you are applying. Exfoliate/shave a day or two before. Pile on lotion to elbows, knees, ankles right before applying. Foam goes on decently non-sticky. Buff buff buff with the mitt, circular motions going with the grain of any body hair. If you do get any spots on the fingers/toes, wipe with some nail polish remover right away and that should take any color off. Color lasts at least a week+ if you are careful to not exfoliate much.Katy

I have used St. Tropez Classic for years and found it to be the best self tanner out there for my fair-medium freckled skin. After buying a recent bottle its clear the formula has changed drastically. The foam was very yellow instead of the brown color it usually is. When you put it on you turn yellow. Another reviewer described it as jaundiced and that's exactly it. After reading a review that said the same about the yellow color I immediately hopped in the shower to get it off quickly. Its terrible. I'm not sure what they did to the previous formula, but in Spring 2022 this is WAY off. I tried Tanologist (Dark, even though I lean fair-medium) and while its not what St. Tropez used to be, I'm happy with it since few self tanners get outstanding reviews. I'm liking this for quite a few reasons. It's easy to apply – much easier than the lotion and dries pretty quickly (less than 2 minutes on my skin). Not pricey, maybe a bit more than other tanning lotions and products but it's definitely worth paying that small amount extra as when comparing it to other brands; this product has the least streaking and most natural looking color, not orange, just a nice golden hue. Bonus: there is no funny smell left on your skin once you have washed it off. I find one full bottle lasts me for approximately 6 full body applications which makes it more than worth it for me. If you have fair skin like me and want a natural looking tan, this is the product for you. If you want a super dark tan, this is not for you. There is a green tinted guide color in the mousse to help you apply evenly so you will look extra dark and streaky until you rinse off in the shower. Once it washes off it's obviously lighter but more natural looking. Then it gets a little darker over the next 8 hours or so. The people complaining about it being streaky when first applying and color washing off in the shower didn't read the description on the bottle because it's supposed to do that. Also yes, I agree it is sticky and has a smell until you rinse off but I've never tried a self tanner that doesn't have that. I put on loose clothes after a couple mins despite the stickiness and have never had issues with transfer. I always apply it when I plan to not leave the house for a few hours. I've tried a lot of self tanners and have stuck to this one for the last year because it's the easiest to apply (because of the guide color), has the best end result color (not orange), and I like that I only have to have it on for 3 hours. The self-tanner itself is a fantastic product. Beautiful and easy to blend. And simple to put on. The smell is passable-neither its fantastic not awful, but it doesn't matter. I have really sensitive skin and its gentle on it. Neither a burning not itchy sensation. Didnt produce any inflammation or pain. The tan has a nice, silky mousse consistency. Sharp lines are simple to perceive, and you can tell where you have applied it. Many additional tanning treatments,including ad moisturizers, make it difficult to detect where you have applied them, preventing the formation of sharp lines once you have browned. You have varied time restrictions while using self-tanner depending on the shade you want. If your skin is very fair, one hour will give you a faint tan. It takes 2 hours to achieve a lovely medium look, and three hours to achieve your distinctive look if you have dark skin. Other then that, the self-tanner is a simple and quick product. I first tried St Tropez about 15 years ago when self tanning at home started to trend more, it was the best then and it's the best now. I've tried all the major brands over the years, the expensive £30 ones and the cheap £5 ones and none of them compare to the OG – St Tropez. The formula is so silky it simply glides onto your skin and blends so well with a mitt, it really is fool proof. It smells nice as you apply, it's not overwhelmingly fragranced. I won't deny there is the tell tale fake tan smell as it develops but I just think whatever brand and whatever the packaging boasts you cannot get away from the smell, however with the St Tropez it isn't as strong. I leave it on overnight as I like a darker tan which this achieves without looking orange. It develops to suit my skin tone. It fades pretty evenly without going patchy, but you often get a build up in the creases of your body, again that's the same with all tan so I often scrub these areas a bit harder of loosen with a body oil. I'm very fair skinned and have tried many many self tanners and bronzers over the years. I blend with my usual body lotion (Palmer's Cocoa Butter Lotion), I never put on my skin "full strength", because it's somewhat hard to blend once it's on your skin. As for being waterproof or not, I haven't had issues with water drips or anything like that, but if I go in the pool with this on, it will lighten or completely come off. However, when I apply, I always, always need a scrub brush to get it off my hands or else they will be stained, so it does stay on your skin pretty well. I also like to use this the second or third day after using self-tanner, it blends in well with the self tanner and evens out the blotchy-ness I get after using self tanner.Deepers

This gradual tan lotion absorbs fast, without leaving any sticky feeling. It got a regular self-tanner smell, but very light, and it only smells for a few hours after application. I always used a tanning mitt to apply this lotion. It feels hydrating. The color it gives is buildable, and it gets darker the longer you use it. I wouldn’t say I’m completely happy with the results, one time it applies every, other times – patchy. I finished it, but wouldn’t buy it again.natalia.s

This self tanner didn’t irritate my skin but it did make me orange and stained my nails! You need to wear gloves with this…in the directions it says simply wash your hands. Also it came out streaky and uneven. I don’t recommend sleeping with this on. I will never use this again. I had a horrible experience. The three stars are only because it didn’t cause me any allergic reaction. Maybe there is a special technique but this didn’t work for me at all. I’m blonde and have a fair skin tone.Monica

The color of this is nice, not Orange like some. Also it absolutely still have a scent but it is very mild and not bad – kind of like a coconut sunscreen type smell? Works well and I like how it’s not a drastic change, but gradual and subtle. I will continue using 🙂Heather H.

I was super excited to try when I got this product. I’ve used it a total of 4 times, I like the color however after only using it 4 times my skin started to react to the product. I broke out in hives. I became super itchy, it started on my legs, continued up my belly and then to my arms. I liked the “tan look” but it came off in the areas where I had intense itching. I have small scabs on my legs from itching so bad, I had to use hydrocortisone cream to help relieve the itching.Kat B.

Definitely only use if you already have a base tan! Added a new dimension of "Bronze/brown" to my tan. I'm a serious sun goddess! Indoors but also natural sun! Wouldn't recommend for pale or new tanner! You will burn!croch-juli

it’s a good product in the sense that t does make you more tanned but it smells and the smell sticks to your clothes after. I had to shower after an hour of getting off the sunbed because it smells like burnt skin and plastic.Anonymous

Look, I like my town even an amazing. I like banana nut muffin and banana stuff so I like this Banana stuff to make my tan even. I am light brown and I like to be toasty. I love toast specially banana on my toast with honey. But this is an about my toes this is about this banana things I love banana browning sun bum lotion anyways, I love about it is that it gives me a good tan tan! First I would like to say I love your product.. I recieved my recent order (order number 213187) and when I opened the box one of the shampoos had came open in transit and not only was it all over everything including the cute little drawstring pouch that the detox shampoo had been in, but my fairly expensive bottle of shampoo is wasted. It's a bit disappointing to say the least. Wanted someone aware this happened, I personally dont know about ordering again , I usually like to be able to use the product that I pay for, just sayin..I may suggest that rather than putting the very large monkey stickers in the box get smaller ones and seal the bottles shut for shipping with them. May want to pass that on or get me to someone else who can make it happen.. Sorry to be quite blunt, very frustrating.. First let me say I’m pale. Like, wicked pale. LIKE, FAMILY CAME FROM IRELAND LESS THAN A CENTURY AGO pale. I know nothing about tanning and do not claim to. I work from home, and on nice days I like to sit on the porch and work, and it was the perfect day for also trying out this product. I had no idea what to expect, but followed the instructions by applying sunscreen first and then the tanning lotion. I would say within an hour my arms, shoulders, chest, and neck were noticeably darker. Just as a side note, I tend to burn easily, and I had no burns whatsoever. That said, my legs were a bit more of a challenge- I sat in direct light with my legs up and exposed in the sun, and felt like I wasn’t making any real progress below the knee, but my knees and thighs we’re getting some color. It kept looking like the lotion was just absorbing into my skin without doing much of anything. i had to keep reapplying in that area to see some results where I did not have to do that anywhere else. It didn’t bother me so much, it was just an observation. By the end of my workday though, I had a nice sunkissed look that was natural and flattering- not orange or overdone, something I was worried about as such a pale person. I only wanted a nice healthy glow, and this definitely did that! A few other things to note though: -I bought this online and didn’t expect the actual lotion itself to be brown. I wanted this to be something I could bring to the beach and on vacation, but putting this very dark lotion on my very pale body looked… a bit problematic. I think this is something I’ll keep in my backyard. -Yes, it smells like chocolate and that smell is definitely subjective. It fades though. -It takes a while for the lotion to dry/absorb, so make sure you give yourself some time before you start moving around and touching things Overall though, I do really like this product! Again, I’m not a tanner, but it got my goal accomplished very easily 🙂jalapenojess
