20 Best Tanning Spray For Fair Skin (Feb 2023 Update)

Ugh, it's so hard to read through all the positive reviews from people who received this product for free, who of course are going to write a positive review because they didn't spend their actual money. I DID spend my own money on this, and this is by FAR THE WORST Isle of Paradise product I've used so far. I love IOP products, and this ain't it. The spray nozzle sprays EVERYWHERE except your skin. It's not a nice mist, it sprays in a circle that misses your entire leg. Hitting all over the floor, and now you have an oily floor. Don't step in that, because 1. it's slippery, and 2. your feet are going to be brown! Secondly, you have to constantly shake this to ensure the oils are mixed to be activated. So every few seconds you're shaking, and spraying, shaking and spraying. Then comes the issue with the bottle doesn't work if you're spraying upside down. Which if you're a normal person trying to apply, you're likely bending over and applying to your legs, lower abdomen, etc. And therefore the bottle doesn't spray. Whatsoever. Then comes how sticky & tacky this feels. It doesn't sink into the skin nicely. At all. It stays sticky & tacky feeling. The smell is the normal Isle of Paradise smell. But VERY quickly fades to a fake tanner scent… way quicker than normal. I gave it two stars, because the tan developed and looked nice after the fight with it. But I would not recommend this product, and will not be buying this product again.rrroxanne

The best quality about this product is that I’ve experience minimal transfer onto clothing and the application is wayyyyy quicker than mousse or lotion self tanners. However, in order to get a noticeable tan you either have to really saturate your skin (which kinda wastes the product) or go a shade darker than normal, which is what I’m gonna do for my next purchase. Unlike other tanners I’ve used, this one doesn’t look like a “stain” if that makes sense. It seems to evenly apply and develop more naturally than the mousse products I’ve used. Mind you, the only other tanners I’ve used are jergens and Hawaiian tropic, both of which are way cheaper, and this product is a mist, so there very well could be other most products with better results. Especially since this mist has possibly the worst application on hands feet that I’ve ever experienced lol. I’ve learnt to just use a gradual tanning lotion for hands/feet for a better application. Overall, it’s a decent product and fades gracefully relative to cheaper products. A little pricy for the quantity you get (it has lasted me about a month and a half only applying 1-2 x a week), and the bottle is the dumbest shape ever and you can’t set it down properly when applying it due to the rounded shape. But it’s super convenient to use and it looks really even/natural, so for that I’d say it’s worth it. Just maybe consider going a shade darker.brookhr

First time use 1.don’t use this on your hands feet or face. 2. Use sticky pads on your feet or wash the bottom of them with soap after spraying. Trust me haha. 3. I used gloves as some other comments said they had to use so much product. I barely used that much, and it evenly rubbed in. Basically spray in sections (upper body) rub rub rub- then arms- rub rub rub etc. 3. This is not drying so far. I left it on over night. Rinsed in the am (don’t use soap first wash) just rinse and use an ultra hydrating moisturizer while damp. I actually don’t feel dry or have that burning feeling after as I do with some. 4. When done, use a damp wash cloth to hit your elbows wrists ankles and knees to prevent deeper color. 5. I did use this on my feet and hands. I did moisturize them prior too. It looks bad. Very splotchy and uneven. I normally use a blending brush with a color guard light tanner on my hands and feet for this reason. So skip your hands feet and face so you don’t have to go through the dreaded scrub off with dove for 3 days. 6. I will add the scent is horrible. It does not stick after rinsing. So today, it’s actually probably one of the least smelling tans that I have used, but while wet it absolutely smells horrible. The good news is that is doesn’t stick and has almost no smell after rinsing.bridgetybee

This is the best self tanner you will ever use. Seriously, this is a must have. Super seamless, natural-looking tan, with zero blotchiness because the mist is very fine. I always get compliments on the color too. A much healthier alternative to excessive UV rays (though a healthy amount of sun is still great.) I like to apply after a shower before bed-time and make sure to spray evenly over my face and neck at about 7 inches away. I wipe the very edge of my hairline just, in case the product has built up and in the morning I’m all set, though if you’re having a no-other-face-products kind of day, you could totally wear this out. It gives a subtle dewy glow. It lasts about a week for me. I’ve never had a problem with this product staining any of my fabrics but I always heir on the side of caution and sleep with a shirt that I wouldn’t mind getting stained. I would also put a shirt on my pillow if I had white pillow shams, but mine are red and this product has never stained them. Totally worth the purchase even if you’re just vaguely considering it. Not into it? Exfoliate and return it, though I feel like criticisms on this product are rare. I have to say, I was really impressed with this self tanner. It was really easy to use, you literally just spray 5 – 6 pumps on your face neck and decolletage, and leave it, you don't even have to rub, massage or spread it on. It's a spray and go. I applied it before bed and it didn't rub off in the night. I woke to a gentle natural glow, which I was pleased about as I was weary I'd end up looking like an oompah loompah, but I didn't. The texture is non greasy, and it has a lovely soft floral fragrance which is really pretty. Also you don't have to wait half an hour for it to dry or set, it's literally seconds! You also can apply it before or after your makeup, I applied it to a freshly cleaned face. Overall I would say that this product would be an excellent purchase, definitely worth getting, especially through the sunless winter months, to give yourself that soft natural glow, and get rid of the porcelain skin. If you have fair skin like me and want a natural looking tan, this is the product for you. If you want a super dark tan, this is not for you. There is a green tinted guide color in the mousse to help you apply evenly so you will look extra dark and streaky until you rinse off in the shower. Once it washes off it's obviously lighter but more natural looking. Then it gets a little darker over the next 8 hours or so. The people complaining about it being streaky when first applying and color washing off in the shower didn't read the description on the bottle because it's supposed to do that. Also yes, I agree it is sticky and has a smell until you rinse off but I've never tried a self tanner that doesn't have that. I put on loose clothes after a couple mins despite the stickiness and have never had issues with transfer. I always apply it when I plan to not leave the house for a few hours. I've tried a lot of self tanners and have stuck to this one for the last year because it's the easiest to apply (because of the guide color), has the best end result color (not orange), and I like that I only have to have it on for 3 hours. The self-tanner itself is a fantastic product. Beautiful and easy to blend. And simple to put on. The smell is passable-neither its fantastic not awful, but it doesn't matter. I have really sensitive skin and its gentle on it. Neither a burning not itchy sensation. Didnt produce any inflammation or pain. The tan has a nice, silky mousse consistency. Sharp lines are simple to perceive, and you can tell where you have applied it. Many additional tanning treatments,including ad moisturizers, make it difficult to detect where you have applied them, preventing the formation of sharp lines once you have browned. You have varied time restrictions while using self-tanner depending on the shade you want. If your skin is very fair, one hour will give you a faint tan. It takes 2 hours to achieve a lovely medium look, and three hours to achieve your distinctive look if you have dark skin. Other then that, the self-tanner is a simple and quick product. I first tried St Tropez about 15 years ago when self tanning at home started to trend more, it was the best then and it's the best now. I've tried all the major brands over the years, the expensive £30 ones and the cheap £5 ones and none of them compare to the OG – St Tropez. The formula is so silky it simply glides onto your skin and blends so well with a mitt, it really is fool proof. It smells nice as you apply, it's not overwhelmingly fragranced. I won't deny there is the tell tale fake tan smell as it develops but I just think whatever brand and whatever the packaging boasts you cannot get away from the smell, however with the St Tropez it isn't as strong. I leave it on overnight as I like a darker tan which this achieves without looking orange. It develops to suit my skin tone. It fades pretty evenly without going patchy, but you often get a build up in the creases of your body, again that's the same with all tan so I often scrub these areas a bit harder of loosen with a body oil. I bought this item thinking it would be an easy alternative to rubbing in self tanner and having to pay for new mitts since this one says it doesn’t need rubbed in. That was a huge mistake, it definitely needs rubbed in and runs so bad. It also is quite orange and dark so it was a huge change compared to my natural skin color, which i was not expecting since it was in the color medium. I was never a huge self tanner fan but with the growing concern of skin damage/cancer its definitely a preferable option to get a tan opposed to salons or direct sunlight. I was still hesitant when about using this, I've only ever had bad experiences with self tanners and I've tried some pricey brands. I was pretty suprised when I actually liked it. I didnt love the application process (as I never do) it's a little messy, stains your hands, and I don't like smelling like self tanner for hours afterwards. With that said, this oke wasn't "that" bad compared to a lot of others I've tried. The scent wasn't to bad. The thing I loved the most about using this though was the results and why I gave it 4 stars. I was noticeably tanner after just one use and the color I got was not orange or fake but rather a natural healthy glow. Loreal has definitely stepped up there game and came a long way.amie.m

I love this product for its clean beauty and the light even normal non orange color it produced . I am pleasantly suprised. I don’t lay out in sun, my skin naturally becomes tan in late spring summer just walking my dog. I bought this to use for arms and legs before bathing suit season starts . Ease of use, no transfer , it drys in a few minutes and on first application it was very light . You shoukd exfoliate day before use and the best results . I did this and did a light spray on my arms and lower legs and chest. I wear my nails manicured and I even put on hands with a makeup sponge. Perfect.. just don’t keep spraying I find you spray in your hands and spread on fronts and backs of arms and legs . I wash my hands with a loofa type sponge so my palms are not orangey. If you use this and take your time , the results are so much better than other colored self tanners. I def recommend if you want some light sun kissed skin with capris and shirtsleeves try it. I have used the drops before but I like this for my face also. I spray with a headband on and spread with clean blending sponge, let dry and serum eyecreme moisturizer etc. it looks very natural and I only use an eye brightener and tinted sunscreen , look tan and no base needed for myself. I have really pale skin and self tanning lotions or sprays have never looked good on me. Needless to say I didn't have very high hopes for these drops, but I am surprised to say I was proved wrong! These are a great choice for someone who has trouble getting an even look that doesn't look too orangey. Even though the bottle isn't very big it lasts quite a while. I found going conservative keeps you looking much more natural and gives the sun kissed look without an unnatural orangey appearance. If you use too much you may end up with the dreaded orange look. It's really easy to apply-just add a few drops to your normal body lotion or facial lotion and mix it up and apply like usual. For an even look I'd highly suggest to exfoliate properly beforehand, but even if you don't it applies pretty well and looks good when it's absorbed. The only downside to this product is that the tan doesn't seem to last a long time. It's there for about 3 days or so and then it's time to reapply. But because it's so easy to apply it's not too much of a hindrance. I also did have a slight amount of acne that popped up after use-although it may have just been my face reacting to a new product and it has since subsided just fine. Overall I'm happy with the product and will continue using it and will repurchase it.snarkshark

This is a great product! I got the exact tan I wanted, and it was simple enough to add to my lotion after my shower. It does have that typical fake-tanner smell, which I don't mind. It's not overwhelming, and it fades in a couple hours. Don't be convinced by the people who say this product streaks; that's just user error, and they don't know how to apply it properly. After showering and exfoliating my body, I used rubber gloves to apply it so my hands didn't stain. I squirt some lotion onto my finger, put about 5 drops (per area on my body) into my palm, then took my free hand to mix them together, and finally applied to each area just like I'm putting lotion on. No streaks, no patches, just a flawless, beautiful golden tan. This product does everything it claims, when used properly. BACKGROUND: Having said all that, I am not a fake-tanner. I don't have a lot of experience with it, I've never even been to a tanning salon (I'm 30). The most experience I have with fake tanning is a bottle of Jergen's natural glow I used at least ten years ago. I prefer the natural tan I get from being outdoors. However, I haven't had time to get outside as much as I'd like lately, and I've been craving that beautiful sun-kissed look. (Although, self tanner is just as harmful to your body as a sun tan due to the DHA or erythrulose in it, if not worse since you're not getting any vitamin D, in fact, it's depleting your body of the vital nutrient. My first Tax-Luxe product and I have been really impressed with this! Was slightly hesitant to use a transparent water self tanner, however this could possibly be the most convenient self tanner I have ever used (and I have tried a good fair few in my time!). The spray bottle was super easy to apply and whilst I couldn't see the product on my skin, I throughly blended using a tanning mitt and was completely streak free. I applied two light coats and ensured I blended well. Results were a lovely subtle golden glow! I loved how this dried almost instantly and I was able to dress straight away. I applied before bed for the colour to develop overnight, and pleasantly found no colour stains on the bedding. Also this product has next to no smell which is great as no one wants to smell of biscuits when self tanning! Top tip – less is more! Despite being a water, this product actually gives a really decent colour, so best to start light and build up to the colour you desire.BucksGirl

I’m a big fan of Isle of paradise tanning drops. I got the tan luxe tanning water to compare and I have noticed that the application is not as fool proof as isle of paradise. The first time I followed instructions to a t and ended up super patchy it was very embarassing. The second time I applied it out of the shower after applying a thin layer of moisturizer and it worked better but still could see some patches. Today I did the same except I sprayed from way far away. This seems to work best but so much wasted product. If you look closely you can see it’s uneven. Whereas with isle of paradise you literally can’t go wrong or look bad.tina.r

I honestly love this product. I use it on my face every other day on top of a light moisturizer and use a very soft fluffy brush to just blend it in well. It looks so natural and sprays so evenly. It’s also a plus that it smells really nice! When I used it on my body I made sure to do a few sprays and use the same fluffy brush to blend it in. I think it’s easier to spray on face and neck and chest then it is on other body parts but if you mix it with lotion it would work just like the tanning dropsmacy.b

Hello!! I have been self tanning for about 40 years yes I’m that old!! Anyway this is the BEST SELF TANNER I’ve ever used I mean it!! And it’s affordable. The spray nozzle works upside down sideways it works. The color comes out beautiful if you layer it, you can darken it and it continues to darken it dryS QUICKLY!! I’m telling you people you need to try this if you don’t like pale skin or need to even out your town this product really really works!! This product produces a fair color, however DO NOT use this product if you have not applied spray tan before. It takes time, effort, and a steady hand to create an even tone. Color goes on fast and heavy so there is little room for error. I reccomend to everyone treating this product similarly to a Mystic Tan: exfoliate first & allow 8hrs for your skin to dry; hold at least 10 inches from body & use a tanning glove to remove excess; use a blow dryer if necessary; even your color by using a natural lotion over your entire body once tan is nearly dry. **Witch Hazel always strips a bad tan. **Windex will give you a quick fix for stains on the hands.emilros_34

If you asked me which products I’d be inclined to buy stock in, or ask for a share in their company, my pasty self would without hesitation tell you “tanning products”. I have tried hundreds of self tanners, and I’d be willing to bet you couldn’t name one I haven’t tried (seriously try me). With that being said, I now label myself a “self tanner connoisseur”. Its been a long splotchy, and Orange Road learning to differentiate between the tanners that make you look like an Oompa Loompa vs. the ones that make you look like a glowing goddess that just landed back home from her lavish vacation in Fiji. I digress. THIS product has surpassed my insanely high standards with flying golden radiating colors. Whether you need some color instantly before a night out, or you want to deepen/luster up your already tan skin, this is the product for you. After a few sprays of this gold in a bottle, you achieve a deep bronzey tan that has NO orange or ill undertones. Also, It dries within minutes so you won’t have to prance around your air conditioned house in the nude for a half hour. Another added bonus, it lasts for a few days with no reapplication. The single reason I deducted a star is because when you wear this, you may want to avoid white. It will transfer when you sweat, and if you’re wearing a white top/white skirt you will end up looking like a hot brown stained mess. Overall I definitely recommend for my pasty girls. Xosamantha.l

In reference to my title "why are you so orange?" this was a question posed to me by my grandmother when she saw me this morning and sadly I'm in agreement with her HOWEVER it doesn't mean this is an entirely bad product and I will explain why. Firstly and perhaps most importantly (for me anyway) is Bondi Sands stance on what it means for a product to be pure… with the rise in products containing natural ingredients, being vegan friendly and containing responsibly sourced ingredients brands have started demonising chemicals such as parabens and fragrance which are perfectly safe for use on skin by calling them "nasties" and "toxic". Bondi Sands Pure pertains mostly to it's responsibly sourced and recyclable packaging saying that you can pop the bottle straight in the recycling bin when it's done, they've also made it clear that the ingredients they've left out are ingredients that are troubling for some individuals such as fragrance- some people find fragrance triggers migranes for them for example but fragrance is of course skin safe. It was refreshing to see a well known brand being responsible with the word Pure and what it means for their products. Now a little disclaimer before I talk about application, I did a weeks worth of preparation, I moisturised daily, exfoliated a couple times, shaved and made sure dry areas were moisturised prior to tan application but I do have an ongoing issue with Keratosis Pilaris (KP) think chicken skin but as a skin condition. I've had this since having my baby last year and I'm trying to tackle it but this can be an issue when it comes to the overall finish of a self tan. The instructions are printed crystal clear on the back of the product's very attractive bottle, nice easy steps, just squeeze straight onto the skin and distribute in sweeping motions using a mitt. The thing is the formula doesn't contain a guide colour so it's very tricky to judge where you've been and whether you've put enough on certain areas, this was a particular problem when it came to my wrists, typically I would use a large buffing brush and using a small amount of product I would blend the product into my wrists, hands, ankles and knees, this has always worked well for me but I kind of felt blind with this product. The formula has no artificial fragrance it just smells of chemicals but in a good way, initially I couldn't detect the typical stuffy self tan smell but as it developed and even now a few days later I get little a whiff of it here and there- nothing on the level of a typical self tan though. Alas I was satisfied that I had covered the whole of my body and waited about 5 minutes before I felt it was "touch dry" a vast improvement on the 15 minutes I would wait with a typical self tan. About 3 hours into development I didn't really notice much of a change, I'm quite pale normally and I still felt quite pale, I could detect something of a glow on my arms but nothing much was happening below my shoulders. After about 6 hours it's like I went from subtle glow to errrr… tanned we'll say- LOOSELY. The colour didn't develop very evenly, there were the tale tale signs on my wrists and my knuckles, my knees were a bit of an obvious giveaway, the colour didn't take to some of my mid section particularly well, there are bands going across my tummy that took the tan and there are bands that are paler. I didn't take the product to my face, instead I opted to use the spray and I'm pleased to say both formulations worked in cohesion with eachother, there were no obvious signs on my neck that show any sort of shade intensity change from where I used the spray, it just blended together nicely. The thing is though I could be quite happy with the faults this product has presented, from the tale tale signs on my wrists, knuckles and knees to the awkward banding on my torso, but the developed shade is not suited to my skin tone. I'm pale, there's no two ways about it, I'm usually one of the first three palest shades in any foundation with a tiny bit yellow warming me up and this product is quite obviously orange on me, not offensively orange where I dare not go out in public but enough to know I'm getting ribbed about it by the family, I'm more than happy to see this application through to the end without hiding though. The tan started to crack on my hands within the first day due to covid hand washing, this can't be avoided but I'm pleased to say that the tan is holding up well, it didn't obliterate into scales despite the continued washing, and as promised by the brand who says the transparent formula means it won't transfer onto fabrics I can hand on heart say this has been true for me, I sleep in white bedding, wear white sports bras and white tops and haven't found any transfer. If you're already somewhat naturally tanned this will be a great product for you, but for me the shade was off and that's quite a significant factor in a self tan, it also made my KP appear a lot more red than usual. I received these products for free from Influenster and Bondi Sands in exchange for my honest review. The packaging is very innovative and represents the brand well. The smell is very pleasant not overpowering like many self tan products. There is no pump as such and so I found the liquid didn’t turn into foam each time I tipped it down so need to be quite careful when applying but the bottle is quite handy and easy to hold. There’s no colour guide but I don’t believe it’s needed with this product, it makes it easier to dress up straight after the application without colour transfer. Big plus! The application was easy, I used a mitt and buffed the product in circular motion. It dries very quickly which is amazing, there is no sticky feeling like with some other tanning products. Colour was nice I have far version but it’s very golden and natural. It doesn’t dry out the skin, there is a little smell the next morning as it develops but nothing major or disturbing. Definitely can tell the ingredients are skin friendly and skin care like. Overall I recommend it the only con is the applicator as the water is runny so you need to keep tipping it up and down to get the right amount of foam. I did use one coat only and I feel that’s more than enough. I love the packaging is fully recyclable. I would probably prefer it to be c-through so you can see how much product is left but it’s not a big issue. I’m impressed with the results. In comparison the other Bondi Sands range I find this range the best as it’s not as drying and the results are more even and natural. Highly recommend.iwona.h

I followed the directions on the bottle exactly, between using the right hand motions to spread out the product, how to prepare skin beforehand and how long to leave it on. 1. while putting it on, it was impossible to tell where I had already applied the product (like, if I had any missing spots) because it goes on clear. 2. I used the same level of darkness I always use in the foam version. This product turned me carrot orange, and literally is impossible to scrub off my skin. I've been using self-tan remover every single day for a week, and its still super patchy, ugly and not budging. I work in a hospital, so I'm constantly washing my hands and using heavy-duty sanitizer. I have a nickel-sized spot of tanner that somehow ended up on my palm. I have no idea how its still there. 3. it said to wait until the product was touch-dry before putting on any clothes. It took me 45 minutes to an hour, standing in a well-ventilated room, in front of a box fan, before I was able to dress. The bottle said 15 minutes.. I swear I didn't over apply any product, I have no idea why it took so long! Very disappointed in this product. I always loved all of their other ones, but this stuff is useless and a waste of money. I tried this product and was so excited at the ease to apply and that i could get my sunless tan on from home. I found the directions to be kind of confusing, but the bottle stated to come here for extra tips. I was hoping for maybe a video or more clear explanation, but don't really see any helpful or extra tips here. So, I tried to the best of my ability to apply evenly, but found it hard to tell since it sprays clear so there's no guide. It seemed dry after a few hours, and I felt like it had turned out okay. However, the next morning I woke up to see awful streaking all over my arms and legs and realized I looked ridiculous. I even tried to have someone else spray the paler spots for me so i could even it out, but felt it made it even worse. I figured I must've applied wrong, even though i tried my best to spray all over and even to correct the areas that seemed unsprayed. I want to try it again, so I have tried searching everywhere for a tutorial of how exactly to spray to avoid streaking, but can't find one. I hope to try again and hopefully have better results, but wish there were more tips for a better experience provided like stated. I know I didn't miss that many areas so I assume maybe I sprayed too closely to my skin in some places. I love bottle tanning. I like to have a nice tan in the summer and I've long since stopped going to tanning beds. So I like to experiment with self tanners. I typically use a gradual lotion tanner in late spring just to get some color on my legs. My legs just never tan well in the sun. Once summer starts I move to a medium self tanner on my legs a couple times a week and whole body once a week to two weeks, my arms and face do pick up the sun easily. I do like a micro mist tanner. I used this for the first time and the color was decent. A light golden brown. A little blotchy, but first time applications usually aren't perfect. It did take a while to dry and even after an hour my legs still felt tacky. Tried it again. Lighter application. Took my time. Still took ages to dry. Did it several hours before bed. The next morning, horrible streaks and patches. Large patches of skin with no color whatsoever, even though I made sure my legs were completely covered. Decided to exfoliate in the shower and even things out. As soon as I got under the water, color poured off my legs. It looked like I was pouring self tanner down the drain. Didn't even need to scrub my legs, just washing them removed every bit of color. I gave this two stars because the color was a nice shade, but I could not get this to work for me. I pitched the whole bottle and I'm trying something else.heather.a

The stuff inside the can is awesome. Too bad you won't be able to use it. Because the spray nozzle has a mind of its own and just stops working. You'll be throwing away or returning two out of three cans. And by the way, this is not a new problem. I had the same problem with this product four or five years ago. Thinking the product couldn't POSSIBLY still be on shelves without them having fixed it I decided to give it another try. Sure enough, the second can I bought – defective nozzle. And think about this. Even if you're the luckiest person in the world and you never get a single defective can, how much more are you paying than what you should have to, to cover the cost of retailers having to handle all the returns of their defective cans? It's so much wasted money, so much wasted time, so many wasted cans going into landfills, that instead of micro mist, this product should be called macro waste.Michael

In reference to my title "why are you so orange?" this was a question posed to me by my grandmother when she saw me this morning and sadly I'm in agreement with her HOWEVER it doesn't mean this is an entirely bad product and I will explain why. Firstly and perhaps most importantly (for me anyway) is Bondi Sands stance on what it means for a product to be pure… with the rise in products containing natural ingredients, being vegan friendly and containing responsibly sourced ingredients brands have started demonising chemicals such as parabens and fragrance which are perfectly safe for use on skin by calling them "nasties" and "toxic". Bondi Sands Pure pertains mostly to it's responsibly sourced and recyclable packaging saying that you can pop the bottle straight in the recycling bin when it's done, they've also made it clear that the ingredients they've left out are ingredients that are troubling for some individuals such as fragrance- some people find fragrance triggers migranes for them for example but fragrance is of course skin safe. It was refreshing to see a well known brand being responsible with the word Pure and what it means for their products. Now a little disclaimer before I talk about application, I did a weeks worth of preparation, I moisturised daily, exfoliated a couple times, shaved and made sure dry areas were moisturised prior to tan application but I do have an ongoing issue with Keratosis Pilaris (KP) think chicken skin but as a skin condition. I've had this since having my baby last year and I'm trying to tackle it but this can be an issue when it comes to the overall finish of a self tan. The instructions are printed crystal clear on the back of the product's very attractive bottle, nice easy steps, just squeeze straight onto the skin and distribute in sweeping motions using a mitt. The thing is the formula doesn't contain a guide colour so it's very tricky to judge where you've been and whether you've put enough on certain areas, this was a particular problem when it came to my wrists, typically I would use a large buffing brush and using a small amount of product I would blend the product into my wrists, hands, ankles and knees, this has always worked well for me but I kind of felt blind with this product. The formula has no artificial fragrance it just smells of chemicals but in a good way, initially I couldn't detect the typical stuffy self tan smell but as it developed and even now a few days later I get little a whiff of it here and there- nothing on the level of a typical self tan though. Alas I was satisfied that I had covered the whole of my body and waited about 5 minutes before I felt it was "touch dry" a vast improvement on the 15 minutes I would wait with a typical self tan. About 3 hours into development I didn't really notice much of a change, I'm quite pale normally and I still felt quite pale, I could detect something of a glow on my arms but nothing much was happening below my shoulders. After about 6 hours it's like I went from subtle glow to errrr… tanned we'll say- LOOSELY. The colour didn't develop very evenly, there were the tale tale signs on my wrists and my knuckles, my knees were a bit of an obvious giveaway, the colour didn't take to some of my mid section particularly well, there are bands going across my tummy that took the tan and there are bands that are paler. I didn't take the product to my face, instead I opted to use the spray and I'm pleased to say both formulations worked in cohesion with eachother, there were no obvious signs on my neck that show any sort of shade intensity change from where I used the spray, it just blended together nicely. The thing is though I could be quite happy with the faults this product has presented, from the tale tale signs on my wrists, knuckles and knees to the awkward banding on my torso, but the developed shade is not suited to my skin tone. I'm pale, there's no two ways about it, I'm usually one of the first three palest shades in any foundation with a tiny bit yellow warming me up and this product is quite obviously orange on me, not offensively orange where I dare not go out in public but enough to know I'm getting ribbed about it by the family, I'm more than happy to see this application through to the end without hiding though. The tan started to crack on my hands within the first day due to covid hand washing, this can't be avoided but I'm pleased to say that the tan is holding up well, it didn't obliterate into scales despite the continued washing, and as promised by the brand who says the transparent formula means it won't transfer onto fabrics I can hand on heart say this has been true for me, I sleep in white bedding, wear white sports bras and white tops and haven't found any transfer. If you're already somewhat naturally tanned this will be a great product for you, but for me the shade was off and that's quite a significant factor in a self tan, it also made my KP appear a lot more red than usual. I received these products for free from Influenster and Bondi Sands in exchange for my honest review. The packaging is very innovative and represents the brand well. The smell is very pleasant not overpowering like many self tan products. There is no pump as such and so I found the liquid didn’t turn into foam each time I tipped it down so need to be quite careful when applying but the bottle is quite handy and easy to hold. There’s no colour guide but I don’t believe it’s needed with this product, it makes it easier to dress up straight after the application without colour transfer. Big plus! The application was easy, I used a mitt and buffed the product in circular motion. It dries very quickly which is amazing, there is no sticky feeling like with some other tanning products. Colour was nice I have far version but it’s very golden and natural. It doesn’t dry out the skin, there is a little smell the next morning as it develops but nothing major or disturbing. Definitely can tell the ingredients are skin friendly and skin care like. Overall I recommend it the only con is the applicator as the water is runny so you need to keep tipping it up and down to get the right amount of foam. I did use one coat only and I feel that’s more than enough. I love the packaging is fully recyclable. I would probably prefer it to be c-through so you can see how much product is left but it’s not a big issue. I’m impressed with the results. In comparison the other Bondi Sands range I find this range the best as it’s not as drying and the results are more even and natural. Highly recommend.iwona.h

I followed the directions on the bottle exactly, between using the right hand motions to spread out the product, how to prepare skin beforehand and how long to leave it on. 1. while putting it on, it was impossible to tell where I had already applied the product (like, if I had any missing spots) because it goes on clear. 2. I used the same level of darkness I always use in the foam version. This product turned me carrot orange, and literally is impossible to scrub off my skin. I've been using self-tan remover every single day for a week, and its still super patchy, ugly and not budging. I work in a hospital, so I'm constantly washing my hands and using heavy-duty sanitizer. I have a nickel-sized spot of tanner that somehow ended up on my palm. I have no idea how its still there. 3. it said to wait until the product was touch-dry before putting on any clothes. It took me 45 minutes to an hour, standing in a well-ventilated room, in front of a box fan, before I was able to dress. The bottle said 15 minutes.. I swear I didn't over apply any product, I have no idea why it took so long! Very disappointed in this product. I always loved all of their other ones, but this stuff is useless and a waste of money. I’ve loved this stuff ever since I bought my first bottle. All you have to do is spray and Pat in the product. It gives you a beautiful glow on your face, neck, and declotage, and it will give your skin a natural, beautiful glow. Mine tan has actually skincare ingredients within, so your pretty much getting the best of both worlds. The bottle used to be a lot bigger, so I do run out quickly. I haven’t been able to get a new bottle, until I see. Mine tan was having a 50% off sale, so I grabbed one for 10$ and was very happy. The spray is beautiful, and doesn’t leave you orange at all. I spray tan, so this is an added bonus to the glow from the outside and within added to it. I love mine tan products, and I highly recommend this bonding facial mist. It’s great for all skin colors in my opinion. It doesn’t smell strong, and it goes perfectly with my olive skin tone. You can use this every single day, and not look like an Oompa Loompa I love it.christina.c

I am on my 4th night of applying the Illuminating Rose self tanner mist spray. I love this stuff. The mister sprays a nice soft mist. I go to bed wake up with a nice glowing tan face. It looks like I spent the day at the beach. My face matches my body. I can't put the self tanning mousse products on my face. One it looks fake and two My face breaks out. I haven't broke out from the Illuminating rose self tanner mist spray, so far. Fingers crossed that it won't clog my pores. There is no smell to it, so thats a plus. I will be purchasing this product again. Only down is I wish the bottle was bigger. I have really blond hair, I wrap my hair in a towel then mist my face and neck. You must cover your hair for it will stain it. Also wipe your eyebrows off once you mist your face for they will lighten with the spray. I highly recommend this product I just saw the new Cucumber face and body tanning mist spray. Curious to read the reviews on this one.Debbie L D.

This is the worst self tan I have used. I am an experienced tanner and have been using tan religiously for years. Yet every way I tried to apply and prep my skin underneath it always turned out patchy and orange. It clung everywhere and the colour was very yellow/orange looking, which made me look ill. It’s very obviously a fake tan and doesn’t look like a natural tan at all, I had to attempt to cover it with heavy foundation all week. It took forever to try and get off and it didn’t fade evenly either, making it look even worse as it wore off. It also has a weird off-putting smell once it has developed, not a usual fake tan smell. I tried this along with two shades of the minetan tanning foams, which I also didn’t like as they looked very orange and unnatural. So many better facial tanner brands out there.S

Alright, you see the splotch on my thigh? (Ignore the leg hair lol) That's 1 spritz from the recommended distance of 6 inches, and I used a ruler just to make sure. I'm gonna recommend spraying from a bigger distance because the liquid runs down if you're too close. When I spray my face, I do the whole arm's length away, kind of holding it a little above me. But I absolutely would not recommend using this on the body. I don't know what it is, but on the face it kind of evens itself out. On the body it comes out in these splotchy circles. Maybe it would work if you just spray a bunch of times from every angle but I'm not risking it. Like I said, it runs down if there's too much in one spot. It's weird calling it a "mist" because it does not come out as a mist, it's just too forceful of a spray. I might try transferring to a different bottle. As for the smell, it's alright. Someone mentioned it smells like a public bathroom or something, so now that's in my head. I prefer the biscuit-y smell of my Bondi Sands lotion. I'd give it 1 star for the body, but I'll leave it at 3 stars because it does work well enough on the face. It just wasn't the wonder product I thought it would be. Also worth noting denatured alcohol is the 2nd ingredient, so if your skin is sensitive to it, be aware. But that is what makes it dry faster, which is convenient. I added a photo of the dot on my thumb because at some point when I was test spraying my thigh, I didn't notice I got it on my hand. Maybe the nozzle dripped, I don't know. So be aware of that too. But holy cow that's a dark dot from one go! Btw both photos were taken 1 day after spraying.Kitkat

Yep, this is awesome. I want it in a huge bottle. It gives a great natural color and doesn't really stink like other tanners when they develop. You can get a great color with just 1 use. Application is so easy. I use it all over my face and body. I was buying Loving Tan brand products but then tried this and the B Tan foam and it's definitely a money saving 'dupe' for the same color payoff.dana .d

I have to spray this about 8 sprays on my face to get the color that I want but it is amazing. Wears under makeup, does not have a smell, matches my body tan and looks amazing like I am wearing foundation. I love this stuff but it does take a lot of sprays to get color. At first I didn't think it worked but it definitely does. AND the price?! Ive paid 40-50 for my face tanners and this one works better.self tan girlie

This is only the second tanning product I've ever used and to say that I'm impressed is an understatement. I've always worried about the over use outcome. This is in an easy to dispense spray bottle and a great liquid consistency. It was easily distributed using the luxurious velvet application mitt. I was impressed with how easily it was distributed over my skin. I applied it at night, there was no residue on my bedding or clothing. The results really are impressive. I now have a beautiful streak free natural looking tan without the harmful rays from the sun. It's super long lasting which also impressed me. Again there was no transferring on to my clothing and the tan is visible without an obvious appearance of a fake tan. I cannot recommend this enough. I was very kindly sent this to test in exchange of an honest opinion. I really like the results of this tanning mist, but there's a definite learning curve when it comes to the application. My first application was a bit of a mess, I gave myself an uneven tan, which is easily done due to the colourless mist. I applied the second coat after about four hours, when I could see how patchy the initial coat was. Using a mitt, you need to work fast as this mist dries quickly, which is what went wrong with the first application. Being pale, (I'm almost see through) with pink undertones, most fake tans end up looking very orange on me. This mist developed into a lovely natural tan, which is buildable and it lasted days, much longer than other fake tans have lasted on my skin, as long as you take care of your tan with moisturising you could go a good week between applications. Overall I really like this mist, I like how buildable this product is and it has real lasting power. Definitely inspires me to try other product from this brand.SoonLi

I’m used to organic and natural selftanners so I was expecting a little glow or turning 1-2 darkers from this selftanner but It got me DARK!!! It performs like a traditional seltanner and has no sent which I love because I can’t stand fragrances in seltanners. My tan continued to develop after showering and had a slight selftanner smell. The tan is long lasting ans fades evenly. Very impressed. Best seltanner on the market in my opinion. The untinted version performs just as well. Btw, don’t shake before using or it won’t come out foamy but liquid.Emilie

Nice and light! Super easy to apply too. Very forgiving, and no streaks. It’s not super dark, perfect for getting a nice sun kissed glow, but it is buildable. Also haven’t noticed it rubbing off on clothing!raegs

I have self tanned semi-regularly for a few years now. I wouldn’t call myself a beginner, but I was still a little nervous about trying this product since there is no guide color. But so far I have had no streaking, splotching, or patchiness. The color definitely takes 4 hours to develop; ideally I should leave it on for 6-12 hours to really get dark. I’m pretty light/pale and I got medium for reference. It’s not super sticky and the “self tan smell” isn’t as bad as some other brands. It’s still there, though. I’ve literally never used a truly odorless self tanner so I won’t knock this one for having that scent. The only reason I give it 4 starts rather than 5 is that I don’t like the color as much as St Tropez or St Moris. This one isn’t orange, but it still doesn’t have the green or violet undertone that other tanners do which looks better on my cool-toned skin. Overall, if you’re a beginner, I would opt for a mousse product. I have enough tanning experience to know what spots I usually miss so this has been good for me. And absolutely no staining or transfer is incredible.Sarah

before tanologist, I would just use gradual tanning/bronzing lotions but I decided after hearing all about it, I would try tanologist. IT WAS SO WORTH IT. I've used it only twice so far and I'm obsessed. The only small issue I have is the smell but it really isn't too bad. The tan you want to achieve depends on how much you use and how quickly you shower after, so you are in complete control. The first use, I didn't use as much and I showered after three hours and I definitely saw results but they weren't drastic. The second time I used, I left on for about 8 hours (overnight) and I saw beautiful results!!!! I use my hands to rub in and I didn't have any splotching but I did have an awkward fake tan on my hands (LOL) I washed them right after but make sure you wash and scrub them better than I did!! Other areas to give more attention to would be elbows, front and back of knees, belly button and feet! I 10/10 reccomend this product, a beautiful, natural tan!!Jules

Tanologist gives beautiful, natural, glowing tan results. I’m a self-tan expert, I’ve tried them all because I’m super pasty white and tan weekly. Tanologist is the best, aside from pro/salon spray tan and easy to apply. The only thing is, it takes 24 hours to really develop. This is not an apply in the morning and be tan that night. I apply after I shower before bed they sleep in it and rinse and moisturize like crazy next day and twice daily after to make it last. The instructions say you can rinse after a few hours but in my experience you really need to give it 8-12 hours to see the best result. It smells ok, not like tanner but more green, grassy and the smell fades as it dries. The tan water dries more quickly than the mousse but only 4 stars because the spray nozzle can clog. A summer and year-round tan must-have!JinFL

the only reason for the 4 stars is because i definitely didnt out it on good. it turns a great, natural color, nothing orange, especially for fair skin because im really pale. it ended up being streaky BUT its clear and i cant see where im putting it lol and it was my first time using, i usually always use a foam/mousse tanner. the next day i also tried to shower to fade the streaks, but barely anything came off, which im not even complaining about because that shows me at least that its a long lasting tanner. the only actual issue i had with it is that it was a little sticky, even after like an hour, which i think was another one of my issues with use because i hopped into bed after 30 minutes while it was still sticky and went to bed. it doesnt smell bad, but after a while it does get that self tanner smell to it, but after a shower the next day, obviously its gone. overall, luv it, i just need to learn how to put it on better hahahjulie.s

When I tried Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs Tanning Water I was a little skeptical. The first layer I sprayed on (pump spray) I couldn’t really tell a difference, but I am pretty fair skinned. So after the first layer I sprayed another layer. I understand it works with the tone of your skin to bring out some color gradually, but it seemed after the third layer it wasn’t going to do too much unless I kept layering. I decided to go ahead and wipe it off after the third layer and it was green and dirty looking, which I’m sure is just the chemicals used to darken your skin. It came off fairly easy except where I layered it down to my feet and toes. It stayed there a day or two even through bathing. I’d probably still try it again but it wouldn’t be my first choice.wendy

I am an avid fan of sunless tanning and made its way into my collection!! I like the light feel of the tanning water however it does leave a slight sticky feel so I suggest using before bed! Also I had a few mishaps lol due to the fact it’s water based so you don’t see where you have applied!! So give it a try when you have the time to reapply if necessary!!
