I loved this dry texture spray!! Because it’s a dry spray, it soaks up all the oils in your hair which I love since I usually am curling or styling my hair past day 2 or 3. The only thing I would say I did not like so much about it is that it did not have a natural no crunchy hold like texture spray usually does. This felt a lil more like normal hairspray hold when I much prefer the hold of a texture spray bcuz my hair holds styles well on their own and I do not like my hair feeling like it is crunchy or like there is a lot of product in it. Usually dry texture spray for me does not give me the e feel of a bunch of product in my hair. And this one did a little bit because it had a more hairspray hold and feel to it.

I had been looking for a new hair shine spray. I have medium/dark brown hair with blonde highlights, and my hair is very dry and damaged from using heat and dying/bleaching in the past. I’ve had my hair colored in just about every color you could think of so my hair is very damaged. It’s getting way better now but a few months ago it was completely unmanageable. I like using shine sprays because they make your hair so much healthier and glossy looking. My current shine spray is Garnier Brilliantine Shine Glossing Spray. It was only 7 dollars, has great ingredients, and gives amazing shine without looking or feeling greasy. I had been thinking about getting this matrix shine spray for awhile. Ulta was having a huge sale on matrix products so I used that opportunity to pick this up. It was only 10 dollars so I got it half off. I usually LOVE matrix products, and even though they’re pricey they tend to be worth it especially when you have more problematic hair. This was a disappointment. First of all the smell is terrible. Usually their products smell great but this literally smells like those lemon hand wipes you get in little single packets. It’s not unbearable but definitely not a good smell especially for a hair product. Nobody wants their hair to smell like lemon scented cleaning supplies. Good thing the smell doesn’t last because it’s not a good one for a hair product. Now, I could put that behind me if the product worked well but it didn’t. It literally didn’t add any shine or gloss to the hair. It didn’t feel heavy or greasy or sticky on the hair, but it was basically like it did nothing. Since I got this half off I wasn’t TOO mad but still disappointed. I’ve tried a lot of matrix products and this was the first one that had been disappointing. Definitely don’t recommend. First off, this is a working hairspray, it is NOT meant to hold hair in place all day (however, if you hate the feeling of those kinds of hairsprays, then this might be all you need). I generally spray this in my hair after putting it in hot rollers to just encourage the curl to set. Once you take your hair out, it will not feel like it has product in it. Its also good for spraying into sections of your hair after teasing it, again just to kind of keep that lift in your hair while proceeding to style. So if that's what you are looking for, then I highly recommend. My only beef is the little cap that goes over the sprayer- since you can turn this little cap to block the spray part, the sprayer itself is a bit recessed and I think it can encourage product to settle in there and you end up having to kind of pick it out or else the whole thing clogs up. So long as you are aware of it, it's fine, but I could live without the little cap part. I don't need to waste half my morning unclogging the bottle once a week.Bee

Ok, so at first, I wasn't impressed by it. BUT once I figured this product out, I was IN LOVE!!! If your curls are a combination between 2c and 3a, you need to give this a try!! The instruction says to use on damp or dry hair, but I found it was best to apply when my hair was about 50-70% dry and let it absorb into the hair (don't touch or scrunch it right away!) Spray it and truly let the product work and sink in to the hair. Once the hair starts becoming more dry you can start scrunching and following your usual routine. My hair is naturally wavy and curly, and I straighten it only occasionally. I have tried this product on clean wet hair, clean dry hair, next-day curly hair (both wet and dry), and next-day after straightening. I have tried different amounts of product, scrunching, diffusing, used the product by itself, and tried mixing with other products (from the same company and other brands). Every single time, it has made my hair a sticky mess. I guess that's a kind of texture? 🤷♀️ It also makes my hair feel snarled, or like I "ratted" it. Today I tried just a light mist after using other curl styling products, to see if it would at least help hold down some flyaways, but as my hair dried (air/naturally) it just became frizzier, and the curl actually seems less defined overall. I've been looking for a texturizing spray for a long time to replace one that was discontinued a few years ago. I have 2b-2c curls that are low density and I now that I've figured out how to use this spray on my hair, I love it. For me personally, I put it on damp hair after I've applied curl cream/before gel and it gives my hair soft, beachy waves. I have semi thick hair and a lot of it. While this did give great volume immediately after blow dry, it was gone and back to how my hair usually looks after an hour. I tried this maybe 4 or 5 times and same thing each time. I did it differently too and tried to hold with Velcro rollers as well and made no difference on my thicker hair.Chelsea
I assumed when it said "style as usual" that doesn't necessarily mean with heat, but I think it does. As of now I'm giving Verb Volume Spray a 4 star rating. I have very fine, thin damaged hair. I used a hair mask treatment that has a ton of oils in it and left my hair like silk right before I used Verb. My hair came out about the same amount of "pouf" as usual – maybe a teeny bit less.. I'm not looking for extreme hair – I just don't want it hanging limply. I slept on it and in the morning a quick hit with a curling brush and some hairspray and my hair looked fine. Slept on it again (I can usually go a couple of days). When I left the house my hair looked good but about 4 hours later, it's losing it's shape (bob with some layers). It's still not totally flat but heading that way. I'm hoping that with normal shampoo and conditioner it works for a couple of days. Will update. What I loved about it was it felt like water when I applied – no tangling or pulling. Same as I used the blow dryer. I feel like there is a good chance it is easy to wash out. I absolutely love this hair spray! It gives a strong, all day long hold, without leaving my hair "crunchy" and stiff. The bottle is easy to use aerosol can and is attractive with it's gold/teal colors. It is the "air spray" instead of the pump bottle, so easier to use if you have arthritic hands. It's a good sized can at 8 oz. and because of it's strong hold, you don't have to use as much as other brands, so it lasts even longer. I work long days, 10 to 12 hr shifts each day. My morning starts at 4 am and I can do my hair, spray it, and at 7pm, it still looks great for a dinner out, no touch ups needed. It's long lasting hold and helps create volume. No flat hair here! The smell is amazing and almost smells as good as my perfume. I love that it makes my hair look AND smell great! Highly recommend this hair spray. Almost all of the bad reviews are people complaining about this product making their hair wet and greasy. As with ANY texture spray, you should use it sparingly. I don't like how wet and thick this sprays out either, but I'm assuming it has something to do with the sugar, or bamboo, and cannot be avoided. Anyway, as with ANY hair product, you should be spraying from at least a foot and a half away. Never put any hair product right next to your hair and then spray. Spray disperses the farther from the bottle you get, so if you're spraying close to your hair you are getting a full on, concentrated squirt of product. Quickly push down on the sprayer and let go to get one section of hair, then move on to another section. Less is more, with any hair product. As far as how it performs when used correctly, it works great! It does not make your hair dry like a lot of other texture sprays (ahem, OGX Aspen Texture Spray, ahem). This was out of stock for awhile and I had to ration it lol. I tried others but none compares! Smell takes you on vacation but isn’t offensive when used for a long time. My hair is long and chemically straightened. It loses the volume you are used to with your curls. This product I spray on roots and give a light spray all over. Texture spray is by far one of the most underrated products in the hair care world. For me personally with fine straight hair, if I curl my hair on day 1 or 2 after washing, chances are it’s going to go flat in an hour. I have used the Sea Salt Spray a few times, and I could not tell at first if it added volume or hold. I use a stiff gel that holds my hair in place, so I was mainly testing this product for texture and volume rather than hold. I do think that it adds texture. However, the volume and hold part is hard for me to say since I use gel right after and my hair is very straight and coarse. Any additional volume I get would be noticeable but not as much as someone with curly or wavy hair, I think. I would gander to say that the volume of my hair increased. I cannot unbiasedly assess the hold because I use gel that is very stiff. I think the effects are probably even more apparent on people with curly or wavy hair that desire extra volume or texture. I watched some Youtube videos and the clients with wavy hair seemed to mention that their hair was visibly improved by the Sea-Salt spray. I’ve been having a really hard time finding the right product to keep my pixie cut style in place. I like to kind of slick it back, but not be shiny. I thought this product wasn’t going to work because honestly spray wax just sounds weird, but it blew me away! It leaves a matte finish and holds so well that even wind won’t mess it up. You do have to be careful not to use too much because then it can leave visible white stuff in your hair. A little goes a long way. I like to hold my hair in the position I want it to be in, spray it a little, and then smooth through with my hands to gently distribute until it sets. Don’t try to brush or comb it after it sets, trust me.. just don’t! It can leave some white stuff when you spray but that’s easily remedied by smoothing with hands. Reminds me of dry shampoo in that way. It is a little hard to wash out, I had to shampoo twice but I think that has more to do with having a ton of product in my hair from multiple days of re-styling. I’ve been using it after applying a pomade but I think that weighs it down so today I’m going to try just using the spray. I have no doubts, I’m sure it will work just fine. Best hair spray ever! I've been looking for a anti frizz hair spray that doesn't leave your hair stiff and crunchy. And this is it! I moved to Corpus Christi, Texas a few months ago from PA and the humidity is crazy down here. I have bleached blonde hair so it didn't take to well to the high humidity. Finally decided to give this a try and so glad I did! I've tried so many hair sprays over the years but this one got them beat(although b&b is a great hair spray too). So.. If you can make it work.. it’s good. ( the product is sticky and clogged the nozzle after 5 uses ) get ready to possibly return when that happens. It does leave some crusty areas if you don’t keep the application just so. I can’t feel the product in my hair, until i go to run my fingers through it -then, there it is … crusty strands. Sure you can brush through it , but ? Then the affect of keeping frizz, and humidity at bay seems lessened. Try it.. but keep your receipt. I found the Free & Clear products online at The Online Drugstore less expensive than is stores here. There was also free shipping if I bought two of each. How much better can it get? The items arrived quickly, very well packaged and were Vanacream. However there is a note in small print on the label saying "Formerly Free & Clear", so I did get what I ordered, product as described. Thank you! I purchased this spray b/c I have been having a skin allergy to something I’ve been using on my hair. I discovered that this hairspray had a lot less harmful ingredients than other hairsprays I have used & thought it might be an allergy free product. I haven’t used it long enough yet to really decide. I don’t care too much for the spray b/c it comes out in tiny little droplets almost like rain. Although I’m aiming at my hair, it gets on my arms & shoulders unless I cover them. It does stiffen the hair so make sure you have every hair in place to your satisfaction, b/c you can’t rearrange it unless you want to totally comb it out! I’ll probably try & use it until it’s gone but it’s doubtful that I will re-order it.Diane S.
