I read all the good reviews and thought it would be a good buy, however when I used it it made my hair feel super snarly!! No matter how careful I was I was just breaking and pulling hair because it was so snarly! I have never had that before not even with hairspray in my hair! It felt weird like a bad hairspray and a greaser…. it was used on hair washed 4 hours prior and was fully dried…. I applied and was ready to Hot Iron my hair, but it was just snarely no matter how I brushed it, it was terrible in my hair and when I was FINALLY done hot ironing it was still just a mess and it felt gross like a film all over my hair…. I would not buy again nor would I recommend it to people I known
It smells like really strong men's cheap cologne. The smell is very masculine. My husband smelled it and even questioned why my hair smelled like a man, and I gave him the bottle to demonstrate. I'm very picky about the scents that I use, and I will be avoiding this just based on the smell. Most people who wear long hair and use a curling iron are women, so you would think a more neutral scent or something feminine would be more suitable. I bought this product because I’ve been needing heat protection for my hair. Chi is an AMAZING brand so this has to be marvelous I thought. Boy was I WRONG!! This was my first time using any kind of heat protector in my life. When I sprayed it on, it felt like hair spray. As soon as I ran my fingers through my damp hair it felt sticky and hard. I started to get bad vibes about this product right away. I ignored the red flag, and continued to blow dry my hair. My hair was a complete mess. Tangled everywhere, breaking apart. Hair was all over the place. And the hair kept getting stuck to my brush and fingers causing me to break it and creating extreme damage. I have red hair at the moment & this product definitely faded the color out. The way it looked afterwards was dry, absolutely shine less, and very brittle. The only thing it did was give me volume. That’s why I gave it two stars. It’s more like 1.5 tbh. I can name a bunch of other products that can give you volume for way less damage. For a first time heat protectant buyer. This was a no no. I’m sure there are other better products out there but this one’s just not it for me. Chi i love you but you disappointed me with this one. I love this stuff. I spray my whole head and then brush it before I use my curling iron. It seems to help hold the curls and I don't use any other hairspray after. It's not crunchy or sticky at all. I love that it has thermal protection since I usually curl my hair. You can't even tell there's hairspray in my hair after I'm done curling. Starting with the PRO, this spray is awesome after you have styled your hair, particularly with some curls that you want to hold yet you don't want to use stiff hairspray. You could run your fingers through the curls or tousle a little bit as you spray all around your hair. It is an awesome finishing spray! However, the big Con is that it absolutely, positively is an NOT a good thermal styling spray. Some of the positive previous reviews said this product made it shiny and held either a straightener or curling iron pass over. So I sprayed it on my blowdried hair and went ahead and curled my hair with a curling iron. I didn't notice at the time, but at some point later in the day I thought I smelled burning hair. I happen to shower again later that evening and after the shower as my hair fell in my face, without a doubt it was burnt hair smell! I noticed the next morning that a large section of hair just to the right of my temple was gone, maybe an inch'ish away from the scalp! My stomach sank, my face became clammy! That feeling of horror set in. With that said, I honestly have no problem continuing to use the product as a finishing spray, because it is THAT good specifically for that purpose. I was looking for a heat protectant I could use on my fine color-treated hair that would not alter my color or cause product build-up, be sticky or tacky, and would be versatile! I wanted something I could use on damp or dry hair to protect it from heat and this product is great! I use this on damp freshly shampooed and conditioned hair after I put in an anti-snap product and lightweight oil (pre-blow-dry). Before drying I spray a light even mist over my hair and comb through and section off to blow dry. The results are amazing. My style lasts beautifully, feels like silk, and second-day hair requires a slight flat iron touch up (if that for my long bangs). I have no tangling while drying or after, I have no sticky tacky feeling (which is why I hate "hair sprays") except for very few products (one from Kenra (medium hold) and one from a brand not carried by Ulta) when needed. I cannot say enough good things about this product and appreciate the advice I received from one of the Senior Stylists at the Kildeer, IL location who recommended this product. I took advantage of an amazing sale on this product and am well stocked 🙂 If you are looking for a great product that works well on damp or dry hair for heat protection with some styling benefits, I would give this a try!LMT

I bought this a couple days ago. My hair struggles to hold curl cause it's thin regardless of having a lot of it. I sprayed this on layer by layer ran my fingers through and let dry. I’ve been using this product for years. If I was reviewing this product a few years ago I’d give it 5 stars. As of late I’ve moved away from heat styling and accepting my natural texture. This product was my best friend for quite a-few years. After blowing out my hair I’d section out my hair and give them a healthy spraying with this spray. I never had any issues with greasiness or stickiness. My hair always looked smooth and stayed nice and soft. This definitely combats frizz and does a nice job protecting against thermal heat. The biggest issue I had with this product is the fragrance. It’s pretty heavy and sweet. It Always made me sneeze! Without fail. Obviously I put up with it, but it definitely irritated my nose. Now that I’m a bit more ingredients conscious there are silicones and alcohols in here, as well as some irritants such as linalool, limonene, and citronellol.justine.f
This is a fantastic product, its honestly the first heat protectant product thats actually worked when I straighten my fine hair!! I straighten almost daily and have been straightening for 25 years so you can imagine how many products Ive tried!! Always searching for the perfect product!!! This is my staple heat protectant spray. Love the bottle, easy to spray and it sprays in a fine mist, not making my hair overly wet with product. I've been using this heat protectant for as long as it's been out now, and it's amazing! My hair has been at various lengths over the years, from all the way down to my bottom, to almost to my collar, and now I'm older so it's shoulder length. It has always worked great and I'm assuming always will! I have always had very thin oily hair, so its hard to find products that dont make it worse or weigh it down. I dont understand why people give bad reviews for a broken bottle or spilled bottle etc… it's ridiculous to give something a bad review, when it brings the points down and they haven't even used the product. My hair has never felt healthier in all my years of using protectants. Joico is a fantastic brand, and IronClad was phenomenal. Their new Hero with added shine is still difficult for me to adjust. I have long thick wavy hair that gets dry easy. I wash with all soft redken brand shampoo/conditioner. While wet, I add "United" Redken all over and I normally let it air dry (blow drying works fine too) I use hot tools at its highest setting (450) to straighten my hair. I would take sections, spray iron clad directly on my hair and style, and immediately after, my hair felt soft, light and never did more with it. Just perfect. Hero adds a gloss that makes your hair feel heavier in the beginning. I've adjusted by using less, spraying further away, but the results are the same. It's like my hair has to dry all over again. I still recommend this product since they no longer make my beloved IronClad. But just be warned, if you don't have dry hair, this will make your hair appear oily. Just remember, it locks in moisture (as it should) so for those of us with very dry hair, it still is a great purchase to makeEmpress86
I was so stoked to try this because it's hard to find an aerosol heat protectant that you put on dry hair. I tried this one, typically joico is a good brand. I used it as suggested, and it leaves my hair dry, sticky, and dull. I really hate it. I don't feel like it protects my hair. It makes it worse.T

I love this Cantu heat protectant spray! It smells wonderful, sprays evenly and lightly and the bottle seems to last me a long time. PROS – I an very sensitive to smells and the fragrance wasn't overpowering. CONS – The product becomes sticky once it's on the hair for five minutes. I didn't like how my daughter's hair turned out using this product. I usually add jojoba oil to wet hair (natural) then blow dry then flat iron. I replaced the jojoba oil with this heat protectant. It caused fly always while leaving the hair "puffy". Not sure how to describe but I just threw the entire bottle away.Bernadette
This isn't a bad product by any means, and it does the job in terms out protection. But, for those with who struggle with products weighing heavily on their hair, I'd avoid this and save the money. I love this stuff. I spray my whole head and then brush it before I use my curling iron. It seems to help hold the curls and I don't use any other hairspray after. It's not crunchy or sticky at all. I love that it has thermal protection since I usually curl my hair. You can't even tell there's hairspray in my hair after I'm done curling. Starting with the PRO, this spray is awesome after you have styled your hair, particularly with some curls that you want to hold yet you don't want to use stiff hairspray. You could run your fingers through the curls or tousle a little bit as you spray all around your hair. It is an awesome finishing spray! However, the big Con is that it absolutely, positively is an NOT a good thermal styling spray. Some of the positive previous reviews said this product made it shiny and held either a straightener or curling iron pass over. So I sprayed it on my blowdried hair and went ahead and curled my hair with a curling iron. I didn't notice at the time, but at some point later in the day I thought I smelled burning hair. I happen to shower again later that evening and after the shower as my hair fell in my face, without a doubt it was burnt hair smell! I noticed the next morning that a large section of hair just to the right of my temple was gone, maybe an inch'ish away from the scalp! My stomach sank, my face became clammy! That feeling of horror set in. With that said, I honestly have no problem continuing to use the product as a finishing spray, because it is THAT good specifically for that purpose. I was looking for a heat protectant I could use on my fine color-treated hair that would not alter my color or cause product build-up, be sticky or tacky, and would be versatile! I wanted something I could use on damp or dry hair to protect it from heat and this product is great! I use this on damp freshly shampooed and conditioned hair after I put in an anti-snap product and lightweight oil (pre-blow-dry). Before drying I spray a light even mist over my hair and comb through and section off to blow dry. The results are amazing. My style lasts beautifully, feels like silk, and second-day hair requires a slight flat iron touch up (if that for my long bangs). I have no tangling while drying or after, I have no sticky tacky feeling (which is why I hate "hair sprays") except for very few products (one from Kenra (medium hold) and one from a brand not carried by Ulta) when needed. I cannot say enough good things about this product and appreciate the advice I received from one of the Senior Stylists at the Kildeer, IL location who recommended this product. The price cannot be beat on this hairspray! It works incredibly well and I’m a huge fan of BTZ products. It holds extremely well, even in the Florida humidity. I will say the formula is sticky, and the hair can be crunchy if too much is sprayed and used too closely. There’s truly a technique to getting this hairspray to work for you, but it’s worth it for the price! I received Protecting + Silk Blowout (Quick Drying Thermal Spray) for free from Influenster and OGX in exchange for my honest opinion- Let me start off by saying how extremely skeptical I was to use OGX products. I have heard terrible results people have had after using this brand. I decided to try it out for myself. For starters, this thermal spray smells lovely. I would agree it did cut my blow drying time in half and also did dry fairly quickly. This product left my long, curly, thick locks silky smooth and instantly soft! You can definitely tell this thermal spray holds in moisture and is a pretty effective blowout spray. Unfortunately the spray bottle itself needs improvement. I wouldn’t consider this product a mist, it’s almost like a very lightweight conditioner in a bottle. With that being said, I would recommend spraying the product into your hands to evenly distribute. Otherwise you’ll be spreading the product in only certain areas. The nozzle doesn’t exactly like to budge and it comes spraying out like a water hose. The bottle recommend to spray product on damp hair from roots to ends. I got this due to the reviews plus I like the Jojoba leave in. I’ve tried it and tried to use it differently but this just doesn’t cut it. Like others have said it can get greasy. I got some fried spots from it, I’ve tried to understand how the reviews are so high. I also can’t use even two sprays in my bathroom as it fills the whole room and it’s not exxactly small. Been buying this for over a decade. Recently they change their novel and every time I spray at the nozzle sticks in the downward position and I have to lift it up. It’s incredibly annoying. I am hoping to swap it out for the old sprayer if they have it in stores but if they don’t I will be looking elsewhere for a new heat protection spray. It is one thing to raise the prices (used to be 6.29 back in the day) but when you downgrade the quality of the bottle it makes me not want to bother anymore. I contemplated buying a spray bottle to put this in but why, I’m already paying $10 with tax for this! I have fine AND thin 3a hair, medium length, medium porosity. It's prone to breakage, tangles, and easily weighed down. I needed a heat protectant that would work on both my curls, and my blowouts. Previously I had used the Curlsmith miracle shield, but it left my hair feeling and looking extremely greasy. Though I initially expected this primer to be a spray, I like the pump because I can really control the amount of product and work it through my hair. The smell is nice and light and doesn't give me a headache. For my curls, I like to pair this with the Innersense hair love, and for my blowouts I find this works perfectly on its own. I love Pacifica brand and currently use and have used alot of there body products, skincare products but this is my first hair product Ive tried. I have type 2a hair, blonde bayalage colored treated and work really hard to keep my hair healthy looking. I'm super confused by the good reviews. I normally never hate a product but this product sucks. It's like hairspray. If your hair doesn't hold a curl well maybe you would like it, but it's a sticky mess. Makes my hair hard, tacky and dry feeling all at the same time. If you don't use a lot then maybe it wont be as bad, but that defeats the purpose of heat protectant. You want to apply it liberally to coat your strands. The nozzle also sucks. It gets jammed and it leaks. It's really difficult to spray. The only thing about this product is the candy-like perfume scent. Other than that it serves no purpose for me. I really like this heat protecting spray, it smells great and it looks like it works so far. I started using it 2 months ago, straight after a fresh cut. Normally after about two months, I see my hair getting damaged, especially the ends, but it's not the case this time. I spray it all over my hair before I blow dry (I have curly hair that I blow dry straight in the winter) and on my roots when I need to freshen up with a straightener. I purchased this Heat block 22 from Ulta and wasn't too thrilled with the results. I purchased it to use with my Tyme Iron which heats at 400 degrees. While I do believe my hair is being protected with this high temperature heat spray, I'm not excited over the end results when it comes to my curls. I sprayed sections of my dry-clean hair prior to running my iron through for curls. I gave ample time for each strand to dry as well. I noticed that when i ran my iron through my hair, the curls were not as defined and looked weighed-down. This heatspray also says that it allows for a "clean release" when using heat tools…but when i used mine, i felt as though the iron was sticking or resisting as I was gliding it through. When i was all done with my curls, my hair felt dirty. The product was just too much. I was hoping for something that could protect my hair, hold my curls and leave it feeling light. My normal go to brand is IGK but they were out and I definitely needed some heat protection so I grabbed this worst mistake ever. It did say hairspray and I cannot stand hairspray. It's made my hair feel so textured, tangled, and greasy the last 2 days not even dry shampoo is helping. This is such a good product, but just a slight learning curve. I have fine, straight, doesn't hold a curl kind of hair. I bought this on a whim looking for hair spray. Well this is even better because it's hairspray and heat protectant. I spray this on my dry hair before curling it. It will be sticky and crunchy like some other people state. Once the product is dry (which is relatively quickly) I brush it out with my wet brush, then I go in with my curling iron. Once I'm done I will brush through my curls to style them and they will be soft but also stay in place all day. I don't even have to go back in with more product after that initial spray. I originally purchased this as a heat protectant to use before flat ironing my curly hair. I found it did the job there but have ended up using it when I'm wearing my curls as well. The smell is insanely amazing! I also put it my 5yo daughters ringlets and it helps keep them together. I wouldn't say it is better than other products for curls but she also loves the smell so we go with it. I also find myself putting it in as a mid day frizz touch up. A bottle(don't know what else to call it) lasts forever too. the first time I purchased I couldn't believe how long it lasted. if you're on the fence buy it. definitely not a game changer but worth itCWard
before this, I purchased a heat protectant at Walmart and hated how it made my hair feel damp so I stopped using it and wouldn’t use anything before blow drying or curling my hair. when I went for my trim my stylist asked if I used any heat protectant and I told her no and my reason which then resulted in her recommending me this brand, she recommended the blow dry one and I purchased this one by accident but I love it so so SO much. your hair will look and feel amazing and so healthy! the smell is very fruity, I personally love it! but I can see how it may not be pleasant to everybody. lolalex

For the longest time now I have been struggling to find something to make my hair smooth. I live in Georgia and have medium thickness, long, straight hair. The humidity is always crazy and I always have a ton of frizziness and flyaways. This spray is an absolute miracle! My hair is soooo silky and smoothed down without feeling greasy or heavy. I wasn't modest with using it, either. I sprayed it all over my head. My hair also typically takes forever to dry and this literally cut it down to 10 minutes. I have minimal frizziness right now and it's been really rainy and humid out. I definitely recommend!!Reanna
I use this in place of/as if it's a hair oil/serum and it works better than any hair oil I've tried, and I've just about tried them all. This feels more moisturizing, repairing, smoothing and detangling than all of them, but it's also lighter and doesn't leave residue as long as you don't use way too much, whereas most hair oils either don't do enough, or if I use enough to get the benefits it leaves residue and weighs my hair down-there's no "sweet spot" middle ground. Some even do the latter without doing the former! But this stuff just leaves my hair soft, shiny, smooth and detangled without heaviness, residue, or oiliness. I can and do it it wet and dry, and when used on wet hair it cuts drying time down at least by half. The only thing is because my hair is on the fine side, I never spray it directly in my hair when using on dry hair (on wet hair sometimes I do sometimes I don't, it depends on much moisture my hair feels it needs) as it can get a little oily looking when I do so. Instead, I spray it directly in the palm of my hand, rub it in my hands and then run it through my hair, just like a regular hair oil/serum. Most oils and serums make my hair feel like it has a plastic coating left on it, even if I don't use too much and often without even leaving it feeling moisturized and soft under said coating-sometimes it even feels more dry (but still coated)! But this always just leaves my hair super soft and shiny, never coated, always clean! I also love that unlike the vast majority of hair oils, this is clear and doesn't stain your hair if it's light. A little also goes a long way and I feel like my bottle will last for ages, making it an excellent value since it's already considerably cheaper than many pro hair oils. Last thing- although this product is amazing for blow drying-don't let the name fool you! It is JUST as good for air drying and for use on already dry hair! in fact, those are the two ways in which I primarily use it since I rarely blow dry my hair. I've seen/heard this product be highly recommended throughout the internet and by both hair professionals and consumers alike for over a decade now and I completely understand why now. If this is too heavy for you, then try the Platinum Blow-Dry Mist instead of the spray. It goes on lighter. I've used both and honestly they both work for me, I tend to prefer stronger stuff, lol. Kenra has many choices for this type of product if you look over their line you can find something for your hair type. This one gets the most hype. It's multi purpose, I spray a small amount, not overdo it. I'm not crazy about the smell like many users here but I don't mind it. If I don't use too much the scent is not overpowering. This acts as a styling aid, heat protectant, cuts blow dry time and also I never need any hair smoothing oil afterwards like the bio silk, etc. which saves money. I had frizz damage on the strands of my hair from heat styling and using a curling iron. The curling iron smooths it but then causes more heat damage and it was a vicious cycle for years. But now my hair is all growing out, back to my normal straight/wavy smooth hair of my youth, thanks to not having to use the blow dryer as long or the curling iron. I use that revlon brush dryer now. Also sometimes a Bio ionic curling iron. Low heat setting. Still getting partial highlights with the Olaplex.Nena
