Tbh, i am very confused right now. I bought tranexamic 3% + HPA serum for my marks along with 2% salicylic acid (love it) . Whenever i use them together on the same day . I don't know why i get new pimples on my skin and my marks are not fadding as well. But salicylic acid is just too good . I am out of words for salicylic acid. I am sooo much in love with that serum. It really helped with my breakout . As for this tranexamic serum i can't figure out right now , but i will be giving this to my mother and will see if it will work for her or not, because for me it did nothing. I've been using this particular serum for about 40 days now. Now although 40days isn't that much of a long time as you should use any skincare product for atleast 2month but I feel I'm in a good position to write a review after using it for a little over a month. In short, yes this serum does help in fading your pigmentation. It takes time, after using it for over a month I didn't see all my acne marks go away but it has lightened significantly and I'm very happy about it. I'm pretty sure by the next two month I'll be able to fade all my pigmentation. Also the new bottle and the pippet is very very good. I love the new packaging. I think this is a great product ! I’ve been using it for a few months now just at night, sometimes one night after the other or when I want to use other actives like BHA or retinol I’d use it every second night. I have stubborn pigmentation most likely from sun exposure in my teens but I think that this product is slowly helping them fade ! I will definitely repurchase because I do love how my skin is doing. I only really wear sunscreen and concealer now because overall my skin looks pretty damn glowy and no (or barely any) breakouts. I don’t expect a miracle product from any brand but there are products I notice more of a difference with and this happens to be one of them. 🙂 I will definitely repurchase because I appreciate that there are many different active ingredients in here that do all sorts of things, but overall seems really gentle! This is a MUST HAVE! As a person of colour who typically suffers from dark marks and hyperpigmentation I am very impressed just how quickly this product gets to work. I’ve owned this serum for under 2 weeks and my dark spots on my arms have almost disappeared or have significantly reduced in their darkness. This product does not dry the skin or affect my skin in anyway negatively which I was really surprised about as initially I was doubtful of the lactic acid but it works really well as an exfoliating ingredient brightening the skin. I have now started to use the serum in other areas such as the underarms and can already see that the hyperpigmentation in this area has improved. Also the price is affordable!F
This product really works. I've been searching for a serum that will even out areas of hyperpigmentation. I have left this review until I started my second bottle of serum, because it takes time to reduce the melanin. I am definitely seeing improvements in the dark pigmented areas that have been bothering me. My skin tone is more even now. It's also very gentle on sensitive skin. Bought this for my acne hyperpigmentation after seeing all the great reviews. I have hormonal acne which usually means that I break out on a monthly based around that time of the month. However, I got prescribed medication for this earlier this year and I barely every break out anymore. So I introduced this serum into my skincare now that it's clearer to start working on those marks. I first tried this for about 3 weeks and was breaking out constantly so I gave it a break and thought maybe it's another serum I started around the same time. So I waited a month to try this again and I put some twice in a row at night only and woke up with crazy acne. I literally take medication that internally controls my acne so I knew what I had used externally was the problem. Not sure what it is with the serum but it was the culprit of my random breakouts. I wish it had worked for me but I couldn't try it long enough, I don't have the time to deal with bumps right now and don't really want new scarring either.Nicolep
This is an update to my review in August. My first bottle was purchased in June of 2021. I had EXTREMELY bad hyperpigmentation. When I used the combo of the Niacinamide toner and this serum, in 6-8 weeks, my skin was completely cleared up. After the serum was gone, I used the toner a few times a week, because it was all I needed with my clear skin. I’m a picker when I’m under stress, so I purchased another set last month and I knew after a few weeks, something was definitely different. The results weren’t the same. I know this formula has changed. I’m sure you don’t care, but this was the first serum that I found that worked for African American dark skin. Reading some of the reviews, I’m quite sure that you don’t listen to your customers, as I see plenty have stated that they’ve experienced minimal results and you haven’t changed it back to the original formula. Although the claim by the company is that you’ve improved the formula, you didn’t. Sometimes, stronger isn’t better, especially when there’s a breakdown in the quality of this new formulation. This has been one of the best serums I have ever used on my skin!! I have a history of horrific acne, and as it’s been clearing up, this has been a game changer for my routine. With consistent use, I see results within weeks, and this is coming from someone who has tried EVERYTHING. I dermarolled, got frequency facials, changed my diet, took tons of supplements, natural facials, all kinds of chemical facials, and have used countless products for treating my acne and the hyperpigmentation scars left behind, and nothing has worked as well as this has for me. If you’re hesitant, just give it a try (and give it time to work)! Acne is so frustrating already, and even worse what it leaves behind, so be patient, show your skin some TLC, cut down on the number of products you use and just focus on the basics. My best routine is using a cleansing face wash like Vanicream (with no actives like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide), a simple hydrating serum like Hyaluronic acid or moisturizer (no actives) and adding the serum on top or a product with actives to target the problems. I have some sun damage/dark spots/melasma that I have been trying to fade. Tranexamic Acid is a must in my skincare routine. This ingredient definitely helps lighten my marks but it takes time and you need to be consistent when using it. Tranexamic Acid is better for my skin, rather than vitamin C as it would sensitized my skin in the day further more. I have used Formotopia Bffect Luz Whitening serum which is a 2% concentration, it definitely does lighten the marks, it is also an effective serum. I saw this serum which is 5%, so I have now switched over to this one. So far it is effective at lightening the sun damage marks on my face, so far so good. No negatives since using this! It does have abit of texture to it, but it absorbs quickly into the skin. This serum brightens my face much more. Some improvement was not seen until after 6-7 weeks onwards using tranexamic acid in my routine daily. So if you are trying to do the same and have just started you will need some patience and time. What I've used to treat the sun damage marks was this serum, a 10% Niaciamide serum and cycle through Lactic/Mandelic acid + moisturiser in the PM routine. In the morning it is just an essence/lotion and sunblock. My marks have not gone away completely, but it is much lighter and have not darken further. I have very sensitive mature combination skin. Tranexamic acid is very good for hyperpigmentation, so I wanted to give this a try. I like it, the consistency is slightly viscous (as I like) but it absorbs really well. It also doesn't break the bank, which is a huge plus. As for the results, I think it helps but I think you would have to use it for several months to really see real improvement; I don't think it's a miracle product and I've had other tranexamic acid products that worked better right off the bat. I’ve only used it tonight for the first time & I couldn’t quite believe my eyes, after about 10 mins my whole face looked slightly lighter & the melasma mask-like patches on my forehead & under my eyes less intense & brown. Lately I’ve been experiencing redness, flakiness, tightness and increased breakouts and rashes all over my face due to over exfoliation. Thankfully, this product was here to help my poor skin. So what are ceramides? Ceramides are lipids that help form the skin’s barrier and help skin retain moisture. Without the proper ratio of ceramides, the skin’s barrier can become compromised, leading to dryness, itching and irritation. There are also researches that indicate that ceramides are actually helpful anti-aging agents. I don't use this on my face, but I've been using it on my legs after an accident that left me with multiple scars (nothing deep or raised, but confidence-knocking all the same). 3 months (as suggested) has improved the texture and discolouration of my skin to the point where you can barely tell it was ever wounded. I'm snow-pale so this is an impressive result. Be consistent and it works. Texture is silky and lightweight, too, which just feels nice to apply when you're feeling down about your skin. Only downside is the pump – it's a great value product but I still hate throwing out the bottle without being able to scoop out the last scraps of it!L

I’ve been using the Tranexamic Topical Acid 5% for six weeks and have noticed significant fading of my melasma. I’ve also noticed quicker resolution of post-inflammatory erythema from break outs. Nice texture, absorbs quickly. No stinging or tingling. I combine this with daily azelaic acid emulsion, 2-3x weekly chemical exfoliation and 3x weekly adapalene 0.1%Jena P.
I have light asian skin with stubborn dark patches after IPL. Tried acid peels, picosure laser, and tranexamic acid tablets with minimal improvement. This product has helped lighten my dark spots on my cheeks by at least 50%. Tranexamic acid blocks melanin activity. I used this every morning with a vit c serum beneath my spf 50 sunblock, and then again at night with an antioxidant (CE ferulic) serum glytone brightening complex, for 5 months. This product is much more effective than the Skinmedica Lytera 2.0. I have sensitive skin and have had no reactions. It has no fragrance and absorbs fairly well, but you have to give it a minute. I wanted to love Naturium so much despite all of the criticism floating around. I thought I'd give the products an unbiased try. 1. Product efficacy: No results, if anything makes my skin worst and emphasize pore size and fine lines. I use all Paula's Choice which is not too much more in price especially with sales AND not only do products work, they make your skin look beautiful throughout the day. 2. Product texture: The brand claims to be better than The Ordinary in terms of how the skin absorbs the product. The products are tacky, sticky, and lay on top of your skin rather than absorbing into your skin. 3: Brand approach: Manipulative all around. They will offer you a discount without warning that if you do apply the discount you cannot return the item. Bought this for my acne hyperpigmentation after seeing all the great reviews. I have hormonal acne which usually means that I break out on a monthly based around that time of the month. However, I got prescribed medication for this earlier this year and I barely every break out anymore. So I introduced this serum into my skincare now that it's clearer to start working on those marks. I first tried this for about 3 weeks and was breaking out constantly so I gave it a break and thought maybe it's another serum I started around the same time. So I waited a month to try this again and I put some twice in a row at night only and woke up with crazy acne. I literally take medication that internally controls my acne so I knew what I had used externally was the problem. Not sure what it is with the serum but it was the culprit of my random breakouts. I wish it had worked for me but I couldn't try it long enough, I don't have the time to deal with bumps right now and don't really want new scarring either.Nicolep
This is an update to my review in August. My first bottle was purchased in June of 2021. I had EXTREMELY bad hyperpigmentation. When I used the combo of the Niacinamide toner and this serum, in 6-8 weeks, my skin was completely cleared up. After the serum was gone, I used the toner a few times a week, because it was all I needed with my clear skin. I’m a picker when I’m under stress, so I purchased another set last month and I knew after a few weeks, something was definitely different. The results weren’t the same. I know this formula has changed. I’m sure you don’t care, but this was the first serum that I found that worked for African American dark skin. Reading some of the reviews, I’m quite sure that you don’t listen to your customers, as I see plenty have stated that they’ve experienced minimal results and you haven’t changed it back to the original formula. Although the claim by the company is that you’ve improved the formula, you didn’t. Sometimes, stronger isn’t better, especially when there’s a breakdown in the quality of this new formulation. This has been one of the best serums I have ever used on my skin!! I have a history of horrific acne, and as it’s been clearing up, this has been a game changer for my routine. With consistent use, I see results within weeks, and this is coming from someone who has tried EVERYTHING. I dermarolled, got frequency facials, changed my diet, took tons of supplements, natural facials, all kinds of chemical facials, and have used countless products for treating my acne and the hyperpigmentation scars left behind, and nothing has worked as well as this has for me. If you’re hesitant, just give it a try (and give it time to work)! Acne is so frustrating already, and even worse what it leaves behind, so be patient, show your skin some TLC, cut down on the number of products you use and just focus on the basics. I saw the biggest changes in my skin when I did this. My best routine is using a cleansing face wash like Vanicream (with no actives like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide), a simple hydrating serum like Hyaluronic acid or moisturizer (no actives) and adding the serum on top or a product with actives to target the problems. I’ve struggled with post inflammatory hyperpigmentation for years and did so much research and spent so much money on acids and serums. I hadn’t heard much about tranexamic acid and thought this is the last thing I’m going to try and it’s so worth it! I like how light it is so you don’t pile on loads of acids and serums. You do have to be consistent but I can definitely see results and it gives a glow. Not the cheapest compared to the ordinary but works a lot better in my opinion and will be repurchasing. I couldn' get the full results from this product. I really anticipated it, because I have bad hyperpigmentation. But this product couldn't stay on my face for the life of it. It pills with everything. Even if only use moisturizer with it. I tried applying the moisturizer before and after to no avail. I also like to use other serums as well so this is just a no go for me. I have been using PC for several years now. Made a big noticeable difference from the start. I got compliments all the time. Best skin of my life. I am 45 now. I started getting (cute) freckles (I thought) a couple years ago, they then clustered & turned into larger spots, which I came to learn is hyperpigmentation/ sun spots. I had stumbled on Dr. V on YouTube who talked a lot about this in particular for skin of color. So I purchased PC products based on the info she talked about. And wow my skin had gotten even better with those key ingredients. Then Dr. V launched her line of products for hyperpigmentation. I purchased the face kit asap & stopped using PC thinking that I needed something for skin. of color… Well half way in with Dr.V's, I was getting more spots. While wearing layers of sunscreen, reapplying diligently. Prior to Dr.V I used colorscience & PC sunscreen. I then had switched to Dr.V's sunscreen & kit. I finished it & got back into PC, the discolouration serum made a difference after a couple weeks. Mind you, I had been using PC before. While on Dr.V's half way through I got more spots & no results on the older darker spots. Prior to Dr.V I had been using all the ingredients Dr.V had stated would help with PC. But when I used PC discolouration serum I got even quicker results, spot wise then using about 8 PC products like vitC, Retinol, bakuchiol, Niacinamide, azeliac acid, 2% BHA & more. But when using these 8+ my skin looked amazing overall & spots were slowly lightening. But the discolouration serum got rid of the newest spots I got while using Dr. V kit & sunscreen within 1 month. Dr.V's also made my skin super reactive. Her products did not suit my skin of color. My 2 spots were barely 1inch. I don't understand how her kit didn't' work for me. Very disappointed spending $300. I've always had bright red cheeks my whole life, but when I turned 41, I noticed these light/med brown sun spots forming on both sides of my cheeks and tiny ones near my chin… By 43 they were getting darker – yikes! That's when I decided to do something about it.. I tried The Ordinary brand, and Drunk Elephant and had absolutely NO change in skin tone whatsoever. Nothing lightened them up within the 2 years of using them religiously. I decided to ditch the two brands (after one year of consistent use of each, I felt like I given them both a fair chance & generous amount of time to work, but they did not). I'm new to Paula's Choice. My 1st purchase was the Discoloration Serum (JUNE 2021), and what a pleasant surprise!! I noticed a HUGE difference by the 3rd night/4th morning of using this miracle serum. I could not believe my eyes! Upon very close inspection (and if I had to put a percentage on it), all of my brown spots appeared to look at least 40 to 50% lighter in color. To describe the discoloration: the brown spots I had turned into a very light pink-ish tan.. And all of the smaller lighter tan spots has quickly faded into a very light, barely there fading spot. Some have disappeared altogether… I'm not sure if I've had these excellent results due to these sun spots being newer and under 2 years old? (I'm 45 now). The two darker larger ones on my cheek-bones are still there, but again, they have dramatically lightened up substantially. For full disclosure: I always forget to apply sunscreen. And I do not use this serum daily (maybe 2 – 3 times per week now). Takes a very long time to work but with consistent use over a year has faded so much stubborn hyperpigmentation! I have suffered from this since I was about 14, and I get it all over my body, basically and blemish spot or mark I get WILL turn brown upon healing. I have dark skin and it's just what mine does in response to trauma. The key is to use it every day and it will help to prevent a dark spot from forming as dark as usual, then gradually fade it over time. When I accidentally miss a day or two you can notice the difference, because I form a new spot every day. If you use in combination with other gentle acne fighting and non comedogenic products so as to reduce your acne then you are on to an absolute winner. Vitamin C and SPF in the day, Retinol or BHA and Niacinamide at night. Azealic acid also. I use peptides and hyaluronic acid but that's more for soothing and anti-aging. It's a long game but my skin's propensity to make darks marks isn't going anywhere so I hope this product doesn't either! 🙂Christina

I just love this serum. I was unsure about it when I ordered it based on other reviews and because I had been using other products with niacinamide and tranexamic acid for a while, without seeing many results. I am so glad I tried it anyway! My skin on my cheeks has had significant red and brown acne scarring for quite some time, with large pores and sensitive skin. I've been really self-conscious about it and have been considering laser treatment. This serum seems to have made a huge difference in the time that I've been using it over the past few weeks. My cheeks are even and actually glowing now? Who would have thought. I'm looking at cancelling my laser appointment and waiting to see if the results hold up. I'm so pleased with this product. If you are sensitive to bad smells this is not the serum for you. HOWEVER, if you are like me, who struggles with acne and hyperpigmentation and are desperate for something that works, get this NOW. Yes the smell is actually horrible but this stuff works. I have been using this for a few months, I started with once a week and have built up usage to every night and it has done wonders for my hyperpigmentation. I found that most hyperpigmentation products ive used before tend to work on only new spots but have a harder time treating deeper marks. While it takes a little more consistency, this product reaches those longtime spots and even my partner has seen them fade significantly. The only reason why I give this product 4/5 stars is because the smell (which lingers and is horrible) and the packaging which gets bent and mishapen super easily. This is literally the only product besides tretinoin that has faded my pih. I was on rx hydroquinone and every vitamin c serum I could find including skinceuticals and everything in between, and nothing worked! Hydroquinone works with time but it also dries & irritates, so while your on it you don’t see much happening. *Topicals faded* erraticated a bunch of bad breakouts due to trying new products & 8 red/purple spots in about 4 days. People definitely over exaggerate the scent. It has the scent of sulfur like 4 days after a perm. It’s faint and goes away after a minute & leaves a scent that is amazing! So amazing I was smelling everywhere trying to figure out what it was lol. I’m so glad I didn’t pass on it based on bad reviews. The closest thing I can compare the scent to is head and shoulders dandruff shampoo and if your constantly using sulfur products like me… It won’t phase you. I love that it applies seamlessly and I can use it over my vitamin c and under my serums without pilling AND it doesn’t burn. This stuff is chok full of amazing ingredients. The only thing comparable is peace out skin dark spot serum but that’s not the best choice for trentinoin users with sensitized skin. If you give this a chance and let the scent subside you will definitely see good results. I have acne prone, sensitive, sensitized Tretinoin, combination skin prone to hyperpigmentation and hormonal acne monthly. I’m 35 years old, & this worked wonders for me. Okay, I wanted to wait a while before writing a review to see if this product actually worked or not. The verdict is in…… *DrUm RoLl*…… YeS! The majority of my night routine are Peace Out products (the balm, serum and moisturizer) and since the other products work so well for me I decided to try this. I believe that the formulation has a great amount of brightening ingredients and it’s gentle; not strong at all. I believe it will fit well in someone’s routine even if the other products that they are using aren’t Peace Out. A few blemishes that usually would take a few months to lighten up are drastically lighter in just a few weeks. I will say I use it as a spot treatment; I don’t put all over my face and seems to be working well that way. The price point for this product I think is decent since it actually works. The only real complaint I have is the smell, it’s definitely not unbearable but it does have an off putting smell… however the smell will fade away in a short period of time.Msladystarr
I am loving this so far! Let me start by saying I already enjoy several products from this brand, so when I saw this dark spot serum I knew I had to have it. The tranexamic acid in this works well for my skin to reduce leftover darkness from old acne spots. I love the niacinimide and aha blend too-it just really makes my skin look brighter. I will say though, this has a little bit of a smell… I say smell because It’s not a fragrance, but it definitely has an interesting odor that is slightly off-putting. It isn’t enough to deter me from using it, though. And, it has a large percent of acids so if your skin is particularly sensitive I would just be careful and introduce it slowly into your skincare routine. Since I am trying to find out what products work best, I have been taking pics regularly to see the progress of my face. That's how I noticed that my neck was getting dark. Normally, I only add moisturizer to my neck. but this product said to include it on my neck as well, so I did. Big mistake. I've stop using this product 3wks now, so my neck is slowly returning to its normal color. Indifferent: – Scent: It's not that bad. I know others complained but I'm not bothered by it. I’ve only used it tonight for the first time & I couldn’t quite believe my eyes, after about 10 mins my whole face looked slightly lighter & the melasma mask-like patches on my forehead & under my eyes less intense & brown. I’ve tried I feel everything from vit c to retinol to glycolic & lactic acids to peels, micro needling & an led face therapy mask with barely any success, and with the intense sun this summer in the uk, even using spf 30+ everyday it’s still found a way to increase. It’s fair to say I’m grinning from ear to ear, thank you the Inkey List 🙏💗 I also left it a good 30mins or so before applying my night cream like they say. First gel serum I’ve ever used & I was pleasantly surprised at how silky it was to apply. I can’t wait to apply abit more tomorrow morning. I’ve struggled with post inflammatory hyperpigmentation for years and did so much research and spent so much money on acids and serums. I hadn’t heard much about tranexamic acid and thought this is the last thing I’m going to try and it’s so worth it! I like how light it is so you don’t pile on loads of acids and serums. You do have to be consistent but I can definitely see results and it gives a glow. Not the cheapest compared to the ordinary but works a lot better in my opinion and will be repurchasing. The only thing is I wish it came in a bigger bottle so I don’t have to keep rebuying!Tehreem
I couldn' get the full results from this product. I really anticipated it, because I have bad hyperpigmentation. But this product couldn't stay on my face for the life of it. It pills with everything. Even if only use moisturizer with it. I tried applying the moisturizer before and after to no avail. I also like to use other serums as well so this is just a no go for me.
