I have a mountain bike- specialized rock hopper/ my wife has a newer leisure bike I guess is the best way to say it and I forgot the brand name but it fits nicely too. The diamondback mountain bike will also fit with adjustments if she ever decides to write that again. Some people mentioned their bikes wobbled around too much. Easy install, holds the bike very securely. I hit some rough roads and rail road tracks–no movement. Leaves room in the bed for other items. Only issue–I have a short bed, so either I turn the wheel–which takes some adjusting, or leave the tail gate down ( but not if my RV trailer is attached). I was looking for a rack for my pickup bed that would be secure and also allow me to leave the front wheel on the bike during transport. The INNO Velo Gripper certainly meets those requirements. In my opinion, it was quite pricey (about $70) for a couple of small brackets, but that seems to be the going price and AutoAnything's price was very competitive with Amazon's price, but Amazon didn't offer free shipping which is why I chose AutoAnything. AutoAnything also had promptly answered some questions I had before ordering about the rack fitting my truck. The rack arrived promptly after I ordered it and I installed it in a matter of minutes with no problem. I've used it a couple of times and the bike fits snugly and securely. My only complaint is that the instructions say to store the rack out of the sun when not in use. My truck sits outside, so I have to remove the rack after each use. Just used it for the first time yesterday and it was exactly what I was looking for. One thing that drove me away from 5 stars was two days after the purchase Thule had it $50.00 cheaper online for a Memorial Day special. I called and asked if they would honor it, I got a no from customer service and they said maybe a bike store will honor it and you can buy it from them and send back the one you are receiving which was very unfortunate. I finally got to use my Thule insta Gator bike rack and it worked like a dream. I have Chevy Colorado and had to secure the rear wheel in the bike rack with the front wheel turned to the side. I purchased this product 5 years ago. It is very functional and easy to set up. The problem that I have encountered is that the countersunk bolts that attach the upper bracket to the upright support leg have a tendency to break. I don't know if this is a result of traveling on rough roads or not but it always occurs on the back rack. I have contacted the manufacturer to see if there is a fix for this but got a very vague response. Not impressed!Right Winger

I have had this now for a few months and it seems well made and rugged enough for me to take my mountain bike on rugged dirt roads without any slippage in the bike rack. A bike won't fit in the bed while in the bike rack without taking the front tire off. However I do have a Leer cap on it. Without the cap it may fit. The TracOne is a well constructed and versatile rack that is good for carrying anything from SUPs to lumber. Fit on the F150 short bed is very good, and overall it is well made. Older versions of this rack had a handy notch in its top channel, allowing you to remove the load stops without tools, whereas this version requires an Allen wrench to remove the end caps to get the load stops off out of their track (a minor inconvenience). Provides a good anchor point for the rear tires. Really need some bungee chords around the front of the bikes to completely secure. PROS: The bike rack was easy to put together. The product is light so you can place in an out of truck bed very easy. I placed a tie-down strap around the bike for extra insurance it real locked the bikes in. The four bikes an strap takes less then 2 min. in and out. CONS: The threaded rod an nuts that hold the unit against the truck bed look like a wear point that would need replacing after multiple use. That being said only time will tell. My bikes constantly fall over when the truck is moving. There is nothing to hold the wheel at the bottom so they slip out. The idea of this rack is that a clamp on top of the tire presses down and creates friction that holds the tire to the bed of the truck. It doesn't work well. Also, the bars that hold the wheel hit the disc of my disc brakes, the wheel won't go into the rack. I can only use it on bikes without disc brakes. What is needed is a set of bars along the bottom to keep the wheel from slipping sideways and a "bend-away" section of the upper bars to allow space for disc brakes.Scott

Although you must secure your road bike using the back tire this rack is the the bomb. YOu don't have to take the wheel off and if you have a D-ring on your truck you can secure it using your bike lock. I recommend you buy a chain to secure you bike to the insta-gater which in turn can be secured to the D-Ring bolted down on the bed of your truck.Tre
Good product for the price. It just fits my 3" tires so be aware that it won't fit anything larger. It is sturdy and has multiple adjustments for fitment. I ran a cable-lock through my hooks in my truck bed to secure it. When you use your tailgate you'll have to readjust the insta-Gater when it comes time to use it – (only a minor inconvenience.) A serious drawback is a good locking system. It's widely known the Thule locks are a flawed system and it's too bad there isn't a viable solution that gives one confidence when locking their very expensive bikes. For a home to trail and back home trip, it's ideal. If you're running errands or stopping for a beer after a ride, plan to keep your bike with you or keep a sharp eye out on the bike.tkgobig

I purchased this rack from REI 2 years ago. Rack itself was at least $100 less and believe that I was able to apply a 20% coupon as well. Cannot believe that this thing now costs $800. Have carried multiple mountain bikes (fat bikes as well) on the highway and never had any concerns with safety of bikes. Integrated locks are nice for quick security while car in driveway, use heavier cable when travelling. I'm a fairly strong guy, and carrying this from my garage to car is a bit of a challenge – this thing is awkward to carry and pretty darn heavy. I have some friends with the 1UP rack which used to be a more expensive option, looks like it's actually now less expensive given the price increase of this Thule. I'd check that out instead.joebloe
I bought this rack recently because I was not satisfied with my previous hanging rack. This rack is very solid construction and works very well for ease of loading bikes. I like the locking cable feature and also the fact that all parts are connected and no loose parts to get lost. All articulating connections work well. Cons- this rack is heavy at 53 pounds. It does have wheels to help transport it from car to shed, but the issue is picking it up to align it with the receiver. The tolerances are very tight, and even after filing the edges of my receiver and guessing both ends of receiver and bike hitch, I still have difficulty aligning hitch and pushing it into receiver. If you have 2 bikes, want to get them on and off your vehicle quickly, and also want them to stay secure on your car without the rack jostling around when off-road, then i think that this is the best rack out there. I have not tried other racks, but I have noticed how much otherws move around while people are driving, and that makes me soooo unsettled. I have dirven way too fast on dirt roads, taking corners with aggression, and i look in my rearview, and there is no jiggle. I have a road bike and a mtb. The one piece with multiple molds front tire holder is really well made so i can put road or mtb on either one without any fussing. The rack is also designed to prevent over-tightening, which would hurt the raack and my wheel. Speaking of wheels, it has wheels on it, so when i take the rack out of my garage to bring to my car, I can just roll it which saves my back. To sum it up, the rack is OBSESSIVELY designed. If you are a believer in the "buy once cry once" mantra, and geek out on features then I would recommend. If you just want something for your old hybrid, then maybe consider something cheaper. Cons: when front tire bar is recessed, it sits over the handle to bring the rack up or down. I try to just leave the bar an inch above, and it stays where I put it. This solves the problem, but I am a gear head so I complain 😉 It is also heavy, which I dont notice much, but its the price you pay for a lifelong tool. Lastly, it can be a tad awkward getting the rear wheel situated without putting it on top of the plastic buckle (the thing with the teeth.) I also fear that this piece is just plastic, and gets pulled around pretty hard, so I fear it will break over time. We have two fatties (a Motobecane and a Farley 5) and I'd been using hitch rack from which the bikes hang. The problem was that the bikes would swing and sometimes work their way out of the top clamp. That's a problem on a highway. This new rack is fantastic. The hitch mount includes a screw-in hitch pin that locks the rack firmly in place. The wheel cradles include velcro bands to secure the tires in place, and the clamps on the vertical pole have pins to stop them from coming loose. The two bikes are held incredibly well. I can even back out of the driveway without dragging the rack or the bikes on the ground. That was another problem with my old hanging rack – the bikes hit the ground when I drove up an incline. This bike carrier uses an unlockable M16-2 bolt to secure the rack to the receiver hitch. To prevent theft I found a matching locking bolt at etrailers. The other vulnerability of this carrier is the M16 bolt that secures the two-part main frame together and I am substituting an M16x70mm shoulder bolt with an M12-1.75 thread end and an M12-1.75 locking wheel nut to secure it. This bike carrier is designed so it can be assembled as a single bike carrier or a 2 bike carrier. I began with it as a single bike carrier and the square tube plugs directly into the receiver without the extension pieces and all that extra weight. also, as a single is several inches lower. I'm pulling a trailer so I need a bifurcator in the receiver . The Lower hole is for an extension and the hitch ball and the upper hole is for the bike rack. I had done this before with the Allen 4 bike carrier. This design supports the wheels rather than hanging the bikes by the frame top tube. with a heavy fat tire , or worse an ebike this is much easier to load the bike on. Lift the front wheel into its wheel support loop, then lift the back wheel onto it support loop. with the frame hanging design the entire bike weight has to be lifted at once. Also my ebike is a step through, so there is no upper tube to hang it from. tThis carrier is rated for 200# so that is enough to carry two 70# ebikes with capacity to spare. This carrier is 55% the cost of the Amazon versions and has more weight capacity. The one down side is the plastic topped "wing bolts". cannot be tightened enough by hand to secure the wheel support loops in place or the inverted "vee" frame holder. This 71 year old had to put a wrench on to wing to tighten them adequately, and the plastic wing was obviously distressed. It didn't break. Might have been better to just leave the hex bolt heads exposed.rway227

The fasteners are the same durable nylon fabric as the straps that mount to the vehicle. I've used the rack a couple of times and have appreciated the flexibility of these bike fasteners as our bike frames are dramatically different. A must for hauling two bikes. It really locks the front wheels in and gives a consistent place to tie-down two bikes. I also purchased the middle kicker for a third bike, but haven't hauled three yet. Two reasons for knocking off a star, 1. it rattles pretty good when not hauling bikes. If I installed again, I'd put some sort of material to stop the rattle. 2. After one week, there were some rust spots on the inside of the triangle blocks. I don't think it will be an issue and I can touch-up with spray paint if it gets bad. You can't bed-liner spray these without completely stripping off the powder coating which isn't cost-effective. Also, the hardware isn't black, so I sprayed those black for aesthetics.Moto415
So I just finished up installing the product. I am multi-purposing my one place snowmobile trailer to be able to haul up to 3 motos. There are no instructions but I found them here and it's pretty self explanatory. I am not certain about the height so I measured my dirt bike tires and tried to make it the same height as the middle of the tire . Like everyone else the product came pre-scratched. I don't think the hole in the optional 3rd mount will work as shown in the photo. It seems like it has to go upside down for the tie down to fit so it will create a v shaped water trap.
This is my second Black Widow rack from Discount Ramps. The rack is good quality, fair priced and well designed. It's a bit tricky to install with one person but plenty doable. I give the rack 5 stars and the packaging 2. It's that bad. Shipping has always been prompt and speedy. I've seen other negative reviews regarding the packaging and that is a true statement. The rack arrived heavily scratched and gouged from the pieces coming in contact with each other during shipping. Yes it's a dirt bike rack but it'd be nice if the new product arrived undamaged. I am bolting it to my new $70k shiny truck. I hope Discount Ramps takes notice and requires the Chinese manufacturer to put more effort in packaging the products they are selling.Jim B.

I'll start out by saying that I"m a big Yakima fan. I have two full sets (4 bars, 8 Bedrocks total) on the bed of my full size truck. It holds a Load Warrior rack with the extension – in the basket full time is a full-size spare (nearly 100lb) and they often carry a few bikes, a boat and other gear in the basket. These do not flinch one bit under the load.,,,,My one word of caution is that using the cam action to lock them down, don't start by screwing them down too tight – they cams can break the metal "pads" that attach to the end of the screws. Yakima has great customer support (a reason I'll only ever use them as my rack company) and when I broke a bracket they sent me two replacements – one to use and one just in case it happened again.,,,,I've been using these every day for the last 6 month. I can't say enough good things about them.,,,,Taking them off is easy – undo the locks, lift the cams and your bed is now free to use for large cargo. Just buy them – you'll love them.
