Best Vacuum Cleaner With Retractable Cord (2024 Update)

We purchased the Shark corded stick model at Target a few years ago. At first it was great, and I recommend it for smaller houses or apartments since it's lightweight and small. It's powerful for its size. But it's not super durable. From what I've read, Shark doesn't make many replacement parts and there aren't many opportunities to repair their products. After about 2 years, several important parts were broken, including the hinge holding the dust cup together. We've been using packing tape to hold together the dust cup, and we have to cut off the tape to empty it and then re-tape it shut every time. Also the main little interior hose at the bottom that connects the head to the stick cracked wide open. The brush gets wrapped with long hair easily. The suction is pretty bad now, probably because of all these issues. Overall pros: It's great on wood floors, good on rugs, and works well while it lasts. Lightweight and easy to maneuver and carry up stairs. I like the attachments and they're easy to use. Long cord. Bagless is more environmentally friendly, although it's best to empty it into a plastic bag anyways. It's a good deal when it's on sale for $100. Overall cons: Doesn't stand up on its own. Cheaply made. The dust bin is really small. It's a hassle to empty the dust bin because you have to unplug the whole vacuum and carry the entire cord out to the trash can with you to empty the cup. Also, bagless vacuums just seem dirtier to me since the dust and hair isn't actually contained. It's always gross emptying it and trying to avoid the cloud of crap flying up at you. It is amazing honestly. We vacuumed our carpets with our old Shark right before we went to Target to look for a new one. We came home and vacuumed again over all of it. The canister filled up TWICE. I was mortified lol. This vacuum has powerful suction and harder tips on the roller that RAKE the carpet and get the film of dog hair out of my thick plush carpeting. I’m not lying. If I was unimpressed, I would tell you so! You DO have to empty the canister more than you would any other vacuum because it is small. If you are continuously vacuuming every room in your house and not emptying, you are going to put extra stress on the motor. It IS a stick vacuum. If you need heavy duty, 5-6 rooms at a time vacuuming, this isn’t your vacuum. I had to empty after EACH room because my vacuum obviously wasn’t doing its job. But I expect next time I won’t (I hope) because I will be pulling out the vacuum daily and keeping the dirt to a minimal in general. I really wanted cordless but my man insisted he didn’t want to deal with battery issues. I’ve never had a cordless and I just wanted one so bad. Cords irritate me and get in my way lol. But this purchase was good. So far I am very satisfied. I will definitely come back and redo my review if I feel like my opinion has changed in a couple months. I’ve had this vacuum for 4 years. Here are my thoughts: PROS 1. Good suction, still finds dust and dirt and pet hair 2. Lightweight and really low profile so you can vacuum under things easily 3. Price is amazing for the quality 4. No bags and all the filters I can clean out on my own and reuse. Huge cost and environmental savings. 5. Easy and fast detach / attach for getting corners and using the tools that come with it. 6. Dust bin opens easily and smart so I can hold it over the trash and won’t get dust everywhere. Less messy to empty than others. CONS 1. Corded 2. Hose broke down in head where it bends and flexes as you vacuum, I noticed it at year 3.5, so I had to replace that segment of hose (had holes/cracks in it). I purchased a hose at Home Depot and found some instructions online. Overall it was moderately hard to replace. 3. Suction does not adjust when you vacuum over rugs like the expensive name brand competitor so I have to stand on one end to hold the rug down due to the suction wanting to pickup the rug. 4. Doesn’t sit upright, must lean against a wall when it’s not hanging on the wall given it is too heavy. If you pause during vacuuming to pick something up etc. the thing may fall down while leaning against the wall. Takes a bit of experience to get the perfect, no-fall lean figured out.jessica.b

It's only been two weeks but already I like the canister vacuum vs our old upright unit. I could never easily vacuum under furniture, beds, etc., but now the reach is terrific. This unit's low profile head gets under mostly every piece of furniture. No more hands and knees cleaning, nor moving tables and chairs or other furniture to get at those pesky dust bunnies!shomprod4345

After putting my almost 25 year old Kenmore canister down, I was reluctant to buy another one knowing how cheaply things are made these days. It's lighter and smaller. It has a lot of sucking power. I don't like how the attachments hook on to the wand and the floor brush gets to go into the canister. The carpet attachment is much the same and works great on carpet, but not as good on the floor. The floor brush is very small and futuristic looking. I wish I would have kept my old one. Overall, I'm happy.CJ

I love the vacuum itself and how it works on my hardwood floors. However, since I received it the cord constantly comes out of where it is not supposed to. ( I have no idea what the parts called but there's a pic attached). I simply want an exchange for their partially defective item but customer service is the worst!. I'd have to pay another $190 plus shipping in order to get an exchange and wait for them to give me my money back. Who knows how Long that takes! Very frustrated! May return and buy elsewhere!Heather

Broken after less than 60 days used 6 times maybe. Ran hot then stopped running. Damaged shelves came with it. 199$ each 3 items not one was worth 99$ and all…damaged broke and unreturnable and the finance charge and seems u never get a receipt with payments and seems u pay and it never goes down like a car payment. No way I'll listen to their "buy something now and we'll up your credit limit". Not. Never happened.they said it wasn't valid although I got on the app and it said….it was active. Moved from Sweden to US a few months ago and was annoyed with the traditional vacuum cleaner we had here, having having to maneuver a heavy and loud motor and not being able to reach underneath furniture. Was driving me crazy and it felt like it was blowing out more dust than it picked up. The Tritan vacuum is very efficient and I was actually surprised by the high quality and power of the motor considering this is not a very expensive machine. It really does the job and with the included attachments it works for any cleaning need. The only downside to it is that I would have liked the electric cord to be a bit longer for better range, but it works well anyway. Many years ago there was a Swedish brand of Vacuum cleaners called "Elektrolux" and they had a slogan "Nothing sucks like an Elektrolux". I would change that now to "Nothing sucks like a Prolux". 🙂Anthony76

I really wanted to love this vacuum, but will have to return it, in spite of the suction being awesome. The suction is as good or better than my Shark vacuums. I needed a good HEPA canister vacuum that would work well on my hard surface floors, window shades/blinds and walls/ceilings. I was disappointed to find that even though there is a HEPA filter, the bags are not HEPA bags. I haven't determined, yet,if the vacuum is sealed well enough, to avoid dispersing dust back into the room. Additionally, the bristles on the hard floor brush are so stiff and scratchy, I am reluctant to use it on my hardwood floors. Unfortunately, none of my better attachments, from my previous vacuums, fit the Tritan. I need to be able to vacuum my walls and ceilings, but the floor brush is not suitable for that either. I would like to be able to comfortably (and safely) vacuum the tops of door frames and window shades and blinds, without using the extension tube. But , the stiff hose does not stretch and is too short to directly attach the dust brush and reach overhead, to the top of my door frames. Back to the drawing board for me, as the Tritan Canister is just not suitable for my needs.C.B.

I am 69 years old, so believe me when I tell you I have had many vacuum cleaners in my life, from a Kirby to a Miele to the less expensive uprights that just don't last. When I moved and left behind my latest upright as a gift to the buyer of my house, I had to find a new vacuum. One that would last. One that could suck up dog hair from my Australian Shepherd. One that was maneuverable and could also clean my truck's interior. When I saw the ad for the Prolux Triton I was taken by how absolutely cute it is. I love its retro looks, like a 50's space ship with chrome and a sleek shape. I love the design of the retractable cord, its maneuverability and the very very powerful motor. During the last decade and companies are working on designing vacuums that are lightweight, cordless, easy to navigate, and emptying canisters. Usually, we have several options out there in the market to choose from but none of them truly offers what I exactly need. besides to aforementioned specs, self-emptying is becoming a demand. Personally, I would prefer to buy vacuums with such a feature only because of time constraints that lead me to invest in robot vacuums even though they are not as powerful as the regular human-operated ones. I believe and after my experience with this LG CordZero, I found that this LG provides me with a lot of conveniences; it is an all-in-one vacuuming solution, lightweight, and truly cordless since the tower serves as a storage, charger, and self-emptying whenever the vacuum is docked. it has powerful suction and looks modern and stylish. The LG tower has two doors that serve as storage areas to store different attachments in each door compartment. In addition, The tower top is accessible it has a lid that can open up, and inside that small compartment, there is a charging station as well as a storage area for the second battery located underneath the top lid of the tower. This means there is always a spare charged battery that is always ready to use if needed. This top lid is a touch display where all touch control buttons are located such as auto mode, battery life, and dust emptying. Auto mode activates the self-emptying every time the vacuum sits back on the tower. By turning off the auto mode, self-emptying can be activated manually. The middle area when both doors are open is the house of the dust bag. I like the vacuum telescopic wand, it is adjustable and sturdy and easy to use and maneuver to reach low and high places but it does not have headlights which is a drawback to me. The power mop feature is my other drawback, according to the manual it is not allowed to use any cleaning solution except water also the pads can be hand-washed only. It is still a nice touch to have for quick mopping but it is that efficient. The bin kompressor is a smart feature that doubles the storage of the tank which is a nice perk and I like it. It has a sliding handle that pushes and compacts debris to have more room for a longer vacuuming run. But what stands out about this stick vacuum is the self-emptying feature, it is convenient and provides a month of peace of mind and hassle-free bin emptying as well as the spare charged battery, and of course, the tower design in which all the attachments are stored, organized, and accessible. This is more of a vacuum station than just a regular old vacuum. It's a bit pricey but it's still a great vacuum for your home. This is your typical stick vac with a auto-emptying hub. It's quite nice in that you can empty the vacuum manually however, the base station had a feature where you can auto-empty it whenever you dock the vacuum. The base station itself looks good and looks refined. It's not just some gaudy tower that you shove in a corner and have it looking like an eye sore. With the different color options, you could color coordinate it with your decor if you wanted to so that it's stands out less. the footprint of the base station is pretty small so you can store it anywhere really without it getting in the way. Included with the vacuum are your usual attachments like a crevice tool as well as a floor scrubber which is nice. It doesn't vacuum up the liquid so it's really just a scrubber. There is a separate head attachment for the scrubber as well as some extra velcro pads to use on the scrubbing head. The attachments store inside the base station except the scrubbing head which attaches to the side. This also comes with an extra bag and filter for the vacuum. Another nice feature is the extra battery. You store/charge the battery in the top of the unit so if you need to vacuum the whole place, you won't have to worry about running out of power midway through. This works ok for cleaning out your automobile too since it's portable however it's a tab bulky to get into some corners. Last feature is the compressor. With practically all these bagless vacuums, the center filter eventually gets clogged with debris so you need to disassemble the unit and clean that out properly to ensure proper suction. There is a lever on the bin that moves up and down on the compressor which allows you to scrape off a good chunk of debris on the interior filter without needing to disassemble it which I found to be quite beneficial. You'll still need to disassemble the unit for proper maintenance however, with this cleaner, you can do it far less. Only real knock to the is the price tag. It is expensive for a vacuum and you could easily find a stick vac or even a larger corded vacuum for much cheaper. That said, this is more of a lifestyle item where you can have a great functioning vacuum and have it look good in your home.LouRevue

I have recently gotten the LG Electronics CordZero Vaccuum and love so many things about this handy device! The vacuum came with so many assorted attachments including one for pet hair and a mopping attachment. It also came with an extra battery which I love! The run time on one battery is a little over an hour if I keep it in auto mode and don't switch to Turbo. I love having that extra battery on hand and charged up the Tower when I need it. One unique feature about the CordZero is that it's handy base recharges it, stores the extra parts, battery and attachments as well as has an Auto Empty feature for cleaning out the debris from the vacuum dust bin! I love that is takes one more clean up step out of my normal routine! The tower is makes keeping all of the extra things that can be used with the vacuum so nice and tidy and in one spot for easy access. The vacuum is lightweight and the main attachment is easy to get around and under furniture. I like that the main attachment head is a bit smaller than some of the others I've seen as it can really get into tight spaces and under chairs. I love that when I turn it on, I don't have to keep holding down on a button to keep the suction going as I've had to do on vacuums I've had in the past. It does seamlessly from my hardwood to my tile to my carpet rugs and has a great Turbo mode that can be turned on for those places I worry have extra hard to reach dirt. The CordZero even has ap app that you can connect to that will show you run times. extra info on the troubleshooting and battery life. I think one of the super exciting things about the CordZero is that it has a mop attachment. Although this feature didn't live up to my expectations, I'll thrilled of the idea of a vacuum/mop combo! The mop attachment has a place to put in water and it has little round pads that velcro on to the vacuum and spin around once you start it up. You can control the amount of water that comes out (it has a low to high setting) but the problem I had was that I didn't think it really "mopped" my floor. There was moisture but it can't be used with soap or cleaner of any kind and I just don't feel like my floor are properly "mopped " with just a slight layer of water. I used the microfiber mop heads for about 15 minutes on my tile while I was trying out the mopping feature and once done, the mop heads were already frazzled and looked to be coming undone. I love the IDEA of the mop combo, but in my ideal world, it would have been able to be used with a cleaner to really get it good and clean and I would have more function in the amount of water that comes out ( I couldn't tell much difference in the low or high adjustments on the mop attachment). Also, the suction is turned off when you use the mop attachment and I would love to see a function added to be able to use the mop with water and cleaner and then have it sucked back up or go back over the water with a drying function. Again, I love the idea, but feel like the mop attachment could have some improvement to make it a 5 star product. I do like that the mop attachment has a little blue light that shines to help show you where the water is on the floor. Overall, I am thrilled with the uniqueness and creativity that this LG CordZero Vacuum brings to my home. The tower with it's multitude of functions is a real game changer in my book!hjh2c

I have back issues and cannot lift anything of any kind of weight so I bought this vacuum to keep on my first floor so I don’t have to lug my other vacuum (a Kenmore Progressive) up and down the stairs. I have hardwood looking laminate floors throughout and a very low pile rug in my husband’s office. I also have a couple of area rugs in my TV room. I didn’t need anything super heavy duty and I’ve always preferred canister type vacuums over uprights. I also didn’t want to spend a ton of money, but I wanted something of decent quality. I had seen another Kenmore model while shopping with a friend at BJs a while back; it was about $50 more and a Series 600, I think. I don’t have a BJs membership and I didn’t want to bother my friend so I started searching online and found this particular vacuum. I read the reviews and most were pretty good so I decided to give it a try. The biggest complaints that I read were that people prefer having the on/off switch on the handle rather than the canister itself and a number of people complained that the hardwood floor attachment is on the small side. One other complaint was that there is no place to store the attachments…the hardwood floor attachment fits into a spot on the topside of the canister, but there’s no place for the other 3-in-one piece. None of this bothers me at all. Having the on/off switch on the canister just takes a little getting used to. My other vacuum I had downstairs, which was a GE had the same setup. The smaller hardwood floor attachment is actually kind of nice; it fits more easily in between things without having to move furniture. As far as the other attachments, I just store them on the shelf in the closet where I keep the vacuum. It has great suction power and it’s very easy to switch from the hardwood attachment to the beater head when doing carpeting. I had my husband bring it upstairs where I have 3 bedrooms with wall-to-wall carpeting so I could try it out on higher pile carpeting…itworked great. My kitchen, living room and 4th bedroom are hardwood and it picked up everything. If you don’t have a lot of carpet, I would highly recommend this vacuum. For $199 it’s definitely worth it. It worked well on my carpeting, but given that it’s a lower series model I don’t know how well it would hold up to weekly vacuuming on a high pile carpet. This vacuum is exactly what I was looking for and I’m very happy with my purchase. My only complaint is the color…it’s very purple!CindyM

I am really impressed with how the vacuum head worked on the hard floor. We have dark hardwood floors throughout our home and 5 furry pets that drop hair at record rates! It is very easy to see if a vacuum cleaner is doing it's job well. We are very impressed with how well this vacuum picks up dust and hair. I have to tell you my favorite feature on this vacuum cleaner is the foot operated release for the vacuum head. This vacuum design is very well thought out. I like that I can just step on it and release the head so I can vacuum a smaller area or vacuum something that doesn't require the head. Because the power to the head is a direct plug through the tube you don't have to reach down and unplug the power to the head by hand. You can release it with your foot, vacuum the area and then plug it back in without missing a beat. It is really convenient and intuitive on how a person actually vacuums. Another thing I like is the canister doesn't turn over when you pull it with the hose. I have had multiple canister vacuum cleaners over the years and my number one aggravation with them is they roll over if you pull them from an angle or the side. This vacuum doesn't do that! It just turns easily and follows you. I love that! Finally, I like that there is a slot to slide the hose/tube/head into when you store the vacuum cleaner. Traditionally canister vacuum cleaners are kind of a pain to put away and store. The Kenmore canister bagged vacuum 200 series is a very nice addition to clean your home. Assembly is very easy, and can be put together in 5 minutes or less. The vacuum includes a floor brush that can be stored on the canister of the vacuum and a 3 in 1 combination tool to clean nooks and furniture. I love that the vacuum comes with an easy adjustable switch to slide on the handle from floors to carpet. The handle extends so that tall people will not have to hunch over cleaning their floors. The power cord is retractable by pressing a cord rewind button. There is a suction control dial as well that allows you to change vacuum cleaner suction for varied fabrics and carpets. The vacuum also has the possibility of conserving storage space if desired. If you store the canister upright you can slide the lower wand into a U shaped storage hook. It does work great. The power cord is very long so you don't have to change multiple outlets to vacuum your home. The quick release button to transition from each attachment requires little effort. I also enjoy that it includes a HEPA media filter which captures 99.97% of particles down to.3 microns. As we have a beloved pet dog, pet hair can be an issue but with this amazing vacuum, I have no issues of pet hair left behind in the carpet or on the furniture. Just moved to new state, left old vacuum for daughter. It was a larger Dirt Devil that we needed for all the shag carpet in that home, but our new home is a lot of hardwood and low pile carpet and I didn't feel I needed another large vacuum. Read some reviews and as with any product you will read "best" and "worst" – so you just have to decide if it's a chance worth taking … for me, IT WAS! I absolutely love this little devil 😉 lightweight and so very easy to use. Does a FAR better job than the traditional dust mop I was using before it arrived. I will say that we don't have children or pets, so it has a pretty easy gig. Doesn't have real strong suction, but very sufficient for our needs. Nice long cord. A snap to put together. Seems sturdy as I've dropped it 2x already and still works perfectly fine. Because it is small it won't hold a lot of debris, but again sufficient for our needs. I like that there is no belt that needs to be replaced and there is not rotary brush that needs to be constantly cleaned … I hate that! The only con is that it doesn't stand up by itself (need to lean it against something) but that was just a matter of getting used to leaning it on something and not just letting go of it. Works equally on hardwood and our low pile carpet. VERY pleased.Carol

I live in senior living, and not that strong; I moved into here with a Dycem. All the floors are laminate except bedroom rug. To use Dycem is difficult, is too heavy, and mars laminate. This little vacuum fills the bill, does not have beater bars, is maneuverable, goes up against baseboards and flattens out underneath things. The suction is excellent, gets dust, hair and whatever, and is very lightweight. Great simple solution, it was easy to put together and get out of box.Helofu

Really great at collecting fine particle dust, etc. Picks up from carpet, incl deep pile, or hard surface. Good power/suction and easy to switch from 'floor mode' to 'dustbuster' mode. Got this because my wife loves purple. No greater reason to buy a vacuum cleaner than the color. It works great on non-carpeted floors but is impossible to move on carpet. Good thing it's for a home without carpet. Everything works fine except the hose falls apart. You are vacuuming away and suddenly the head is on the floor and you are pushing an incomplete hose. I fixed that with a piece of masking tape around the top of the head piece. Shouldn't have to gerry rig a new vacuum in my opinion.No Body You Know!

I always used Bissell canisters for the easy conversion and parts sharing between machines(since we use them a lot). As Bissells age, the motors naturally get a bit less efficient, and that's expected. The Bissell Zing was a huge mistake. I had to duct tape all of the extension hose connections just to use it at all. Now I can't use it for small crevice jobs unless I rip it all off and retape constantly. It needs a click and lock function on the extension adaptors. It may not be as much of an issue as it ages and it can't lift a cotton ball, but new, it has suction that rips the plain plastic extensions that attach the heads, off onto the floor. I'm going to go with a more pricey manufacturer now. This Green thing is going in the garbage. I had a feeling the price was too good to be true. If you have a roll of duct tape and never plan on using the extensions and only use floor head, or never plan to use extensions and floor head, it will be fine for you and has great suction for that. If you need to ever use the floor features, it may be irritating and require taping. OH LOOK, MADE IN CHINA. Now everything makes sense.Brandy Lewis

I love the Bissell Zing. For the money it works very well. My only complaints are that it is all plastic. While it makes the vacuum light, its durability is questionable. Also the hose has no way of staying on to the floor tool. You push it on and hope for the best. I can see this being a problem in time and also a frustration. One other thing, the electric cord is very short. For the cost in todays world it is very good but you barley get what you pay for these days! My expectations aren't very high! I wish there was a company that would take pride in the fact that they give the consumer a well made product, at a fair cost, that would last longer then a year. I know, by doing this you wouldn't make huge profits but you would still make healthy profits and loyal customers! It would also help the environment with keeping waste at a minimum! Vacuum cleaners themselves should not be a disposable item, just their bags!Marian

I received the Dirt Devil Vibe 3-in-1 Corded Bagless Stick Vacuum to review in my home. I have 3 kids and two dogs so we are always vacuuming. My memories of Dirt Devil were the rechargeable handheld from the 80/90's that my parents used to have. So for me it was a pleasant surprise to see what they are now. The vacuum was easy to put together and the handle and power head are easy to remove. Everyone in my family used the vacuum for one thing or another and it was nice not to have to worry about the battery running low. The corded feature is nice in a small vacuum. Always having the same consistent suction power is definitely a positive. The main vacuum that we have in our house is a Dyson. While it does a great job at vacuuming, it's clunky and hard to maneuver when I need to vacuum tight spots like the car or furniture. While the Dirt Devil Vibe 3-in-1 Corded Bagless Stick Vacuum doesn't have the same vacuuming power as a Dyson I thought it would still be great to use on areas like the Furniture and my Car and I was right!We tried to use it on our fluffy rugs and it did not fare very well but on tightly woven surfaces it did well. It's a lightweight vacuum so my 4 1/2 year old was excited to get to use it. Where we ended up using it the most was on the furniture. Since the long stick is removable it made it easier to use on the cushions and since it has an actual power head it really did remove all the debris off my couch. I couldn't imagine using my Dyson that way. Even with the attachment that Dyson has for furniture it doesn't clean as well as the Dirt Devil Vibe 3-in-1 Corded Bagless Stick Vacuum did. A couch without dog hair was awesome! It was also great to vacuum the floors of my SUV as well and not just use the hose on my Dyson. The floor mats actually looked fully clean in my car. Half of my house is also hardwood, so we are constantly sweeping and use the Dirt Devil Vibe 3-in-1 Corded Bagless Stick Vacuum to also pick up the piles we swept up. The removable power head made it easy to turn this into a quicker picker upper for us. The output motor is strong and if you are not careful you will blow your collection pile all over. We learned that the hard way. It was very easy to empty the collection bin but I noticed that most of what was picked up would stick to the filter, needing to be removed by hand if it did not shake free. Overall for the price and size, it performed as I would expect. It's hard to compare it to my Dyson because the Dirt Devil Vibe 3-in-1 Corded Bagless Stick Vacuum is not the same caliber of vacuum. As I said for my family it worked great to keep the couch clean and the inside of the car picked up. Any on the go parent would enjoy having this when it came time to clean out the minivan. With regards to losing two stars, as I said in my review, the output motor has a powerful blower but that doesn't equate to suction power. You will blow debris around if you aren't careful with what direction you point it in. I also was not pleased with having to touch the debris that would stick to the filter when I would try and empty it. I received the Dirt Devil Vibe 3-in-1 Corded Bagless Stick Vacuum as a free sample from a sampling company for my honest opinion. I have 4 children and 2 dogs. This is NOT the vacuum for us or for anyone who needs a quality vacuum. This IS a vacuum for someone who lives in small quarters and just needs to do a quick vacuum. I have 3 other vacuums and this Dirt Devil is the last I reach for when a mess needs to be cleaned up. On the other hand, this vacuum is fantastic for my children to use. The handle is CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP and I do not think it will withstand 4 kids. I expect that to fall apart first. The part of the vacuum that I do LOVE is the fact that the bottom part of the vacuum (where the roller brush is) can stay connected to the dustbuster and my kids use this vacuum to vacuum the stairs (picture included below)! I have a different hand vac that is used for the stairs but it is too heavy for my children to use, so this dirt devil will now be used instead. I do like that the Dirt Devil Vibe 3-in-1 Corded Bagless Stick Vacuum does have a cord. I do not have to worry about running out of battery or of decreased suction power (which often happens with cordless vacuums). The "button" that you press to release the roller brush part from the dust buster is poorly made and hard to utilize. This design makes it hard to release the roller brush from the dust buster. In review, this vacuum is not a perfect fit for MY large family. I DO like that it is light weight and my kids can use it to vacuum the stairs. I received this vacuum about a week ago as a sample to give an honest review. First, let me say that I have multiple vacuums that are multiple different styles that I am comparing this one against. The Dirt Devil Vibe 3 in 1 is VERY light weight and quite small. It was very easy to put together, minus attaching the brush head. Attaching the brush head takes a bit more strength than I would expect and it took me a while to get the connection. My 8 year old daughter was able to put the rest of the vacuum together on her own. When she saw the size of it, she was very excited because she thought it was for her! When the brush head is attached, you can select whether you want to turn the roller brush on or turn it off. It is part of the vacuums power switch. While I think this vacuum would be great for someone with a bad back because it is so light, the power switch is very low…most people would need to bend down to turn it on. It worked fine on low pile area rugs, but I'm not sure how much it would do on regular carpet. While vacuuming on hard wood floors, it was SO light weight that it kind of slid all over the place. This vacuum is essentially a dust buster with a power cord, stick and roller brush attachment. It is meant for smaller spaces. Because it has a power cord, it does have and keep decent suction. It can be used with or without the roller brush and with or without the stick. It is very easy to empty and it also comes with a little attachment to get into corners/creases while using it as a dust buster. For me, I'd prefer to just grab me cordless hand vacuum for quick clean up or smaller areas rather then pull this vacuum out and plug it in. I think the cordless that I have has more strength and suction. I guess my final thought is that it would be good for small spaces and someone who requires a lighter style vacuum. It cleans and does everything it's supposed to do but if you already have a cordless stick vacuum, it's an unnecessary purchase. I also feel that it's priced a bit high.AliBArt77

Just bought this because it is on sale. It is for my bissell replacement because the mid catcher on my bissell was lost. Overall this vacuum do what it does. However, I am not going to keep it because of reasons too important to ignore. This is a heavy unit. A lot more heavier than my old upright. Wife had difficulty lugging it up the stairs. It is complex to clean. If you just follow the instructions you are only cleaning some part of it, mainly the heavier dirt and hair, by releasing the bottom. Everything inside that canister, that red cone, that cylinder with the holes, everything that is part of the vacuum in there gather dirt. It has to be taken apart with a screwdriver to clean. The filter looks very nice but it will be a consumable part, will clog up in time and will need a new one, looks expensive to purchase and with vacuums, they go out of style and become obsolete. Might have a problem finding a new one in a couple years. The rewind cord is very weak. Had to step on the button and feed the cord in for it to retract. This is when it's new, I have no faith with it as it ages. It's a gimmicky feature. Nothing wrong with wrapping up a cord when done vacuuming. With this feature there is no hook to wrap the cord with when the rewind feature stops working.Old Dad

I was so excited to review this vacuum cleaner. Assemble was easy only required a Philips screw driver to attach the handle. I have 2 dogs and 1 cats vacuum is hands down the best vacuum I have owned for getting stubborn pet hair. I have a Lab Retriever dog that sheds hair a lot and have to vacuum at least twice a week and I have to say the suction on this vacuum is awesome there is no blown away hairs or spots missed. The tools gets my stairs better than anything i have ever used and the suction is powerful. The cord rewind really saves time and hassle with just a touch your foot on the cord button, no need to bend over! Bagless and washable filter are super convenient for maintaining and cleaning. I love the multi floor surface since I have half hardwood floor other half carpet. I also enjoy the scatter guard to prevent dirt from spreading on your hard wood floors. I attached a video where my kids had Ritz crackers all over are living room rug, this vacuum pick up the debris in ONE SWIPE. Only down fall is the vacuum is bulky and loud, so small kids will not be able to help you vacuum. Also wished it had lights for dark closet ect.. A few times i had issues with the power cord i would click the button and nothing would happen, i was afraid i applied to much pressure i would break it but eventually got it to work, wish it was a more smoother process. But overall the powerful suction and the ability to only need one device to clean both hardwood floors and carpet is completely worth it!Jlynne

The interchangeable batteries, the many attachments and the light weight of this vacuum is the only positives. This is my first cordless vacuum so I am not an expert but this is my observations after 1.5 months of using it. While I will say the hard floor power head works great for exactly that I must say the multi surface power head is terrible. After vacuuming a single 5’x7’ rug, the light goes red, the roller stops, and it needs to be cleaned. It’s not like we have a lot of hair in our house, just myself and my partner, as our dog does not shed at all. To clarify it comes with two full sized motor heads. One for hard floors (this one is great and hair doesn’t get caught in it at all) and one for carpet and hard floors (this multipurpose one gets a lot of hair caught in no time at all and will stop working until you take it apart and clean it) Canadian Tire does not offer returns on vacuums once you’ve tested them which I somewhat understand but it’s also a nuisance and it something that may hinder me from buying one from them in the future. If we hadn’t bought this vacuum on sale 50% off I would be quite upset. This vacuum feels very cheaply made. If you are looking for a cheap vacuum for hard floors then this one will do a decent job. I am a dog trainer and pet sitter, and cleanliness and sanitation is a top priority in my house. This vacuum has absolutely met all of my needs. The HEPA filter is a must! Pet dander can create a lot of dust, so I love that this Black + Decker model includes such a reliable filter. The wheels on the canister are large and roll easily from room to room. You can even adjust the suction power. When I'm vacuuming dog beds for crumbs and dust, I can turn it down slightly so the fabric doesn't get pulled into the nozzle, but when I'm vacuuming floors, I can turn it to full power and be done quickly. The canister bin is large – I can vacuum my entire home without having to empty it! It's a small thing, but I love the retractable cord, too!MistyKM

My nearly 20-year-old, full-size upright vacuum cleaner died some time ago. Since I bought that vac at a time when I lived in a large, fully-carpeted apartment that was all on a single floor, and I now live in a 3-story home with only two rugs in it, I decided to replace the old upright rather than try to fix it. After all, it was difficult lugging the old upright up and down the stairs and getting at around my home's narrow corners. What I really wanted was a lightweight, compact canister vacuum cleaner with plenty of suction and, hopefully, a quiet motor. I also wanted a vacuum that was easy to use for cleaning my minivan, which was quite a chore with the old upright, even with its hose and tools. Since my wife is asthmatic, it also needed to have a HEPA filter. This Black & Decker model seemed to fit the bill. As you can see from the unboxing photo, my daughter – 14 years old, 4'11" tall and about 100 pounds as of this writing – was able to lift the cleaner out of its box with ease. The manuals included (in several languages each) are pretty clear, but you may not even need them to do the basic assembly, as it involves just attaching the hose, wand and suitable tool to the end of the wand. The plastic thing at the tool end of the wand is a catch release for the wand extender. The third photo I took (I'm not sure what order the photos will appear in when the review is posted) shows everything you get: the power unit, hose, wand, vacuum head, tools and tool bag. I photographed them together to try to give you an idea of perspective. The first down-side I noticed with this vacuum cleaner is that there is no onboard storage for the tools. However, the next photo shows my solution to this problem. The tools come in a handy bag, and the bag has a cinch cord that's long enough to let you loop it around something and pass the bag through the loop. I used that to attach the tool bag to the handle on the main unit. Now my tools shouldn't get lost. This vacuum cleaner is, indeed, quite light. My wife (4'10" tall and with joint problems that make it hard for her to lift heavy items) had no trouble with it. My daughter then carried it up to her room for its first test (see photos). On the way up, we set the vacuum cleaner down on a step, just to see how easy it would be to use this vacuum cleaner to clean a stairway. It actually sits quite nicely, and the stairway in which we checked this has narrower steps than most, so this would seem to be an excellent cleaner to use on stairways, provided the stairway isn't too long. (Cord length could be an issue for some.) I was very interested to see how this model would perform on the rug in my daughter's room, as her rug has a very high pile, almost like an old shag carpet. It seemed to do just fine, although it's hard to be certain because her rug was fairly new and not very dirty. The pile did prevent her from easily pushing the head forward, but she could pull it backward with little trouble. Reducing the suction made it easier to pull, but still didn't allow for pushing, so back-and-forth vacuuming wasn't possible. I ended up turning the suction back to maximum, figuring that this would pull the most dirt out of a high-pile carpet. This model lacks a beater bar, which means it may not be as effective as a fancier model for pulling dirt out of higher-pile carpets. On the other hand, I think one might have to turn the beater bar off for this kind of carpet in order to avoid having it snag the long yarn strands. Your mileage may vary, as the saying goes. I was also pleased to report that this model is rather quiet, for a vacuum cleaner. It was much less noisy than our old upright was, and that upright was one of the quieter models available when we bought it (back in 2002 or so). You probably won't want to use it when the baby is sleeping — unless your baby likes the sound of vacuum cleaners — but you won't need ear protection when using it, either. My daughter and I were talking while she was testing it, and we had no trouble hearing each other, despite the fact that she was wearing headphones at the time. I expect at least decent performance on our other rug, which has a low pile. It would probably do fine on bare floors, too, but we generally stick to brooms and mops for bare floors. Emptying the dustbin is easy: Unclip the canister from the motor, press the latch that releases the lid for the bin, turn the handle and pull the bin assembly apart. This model is bagless, so it would be best to do this over a garbage can in order to avoid spilling the contents on your nice, clean floor. I will sum up this review with some pros and cons. This vacuum cleaner is an expensive piece of plastic junk. I purchased this in October. I doubt it will still be working by the end of this same year. This vacuum cleaner does not glide across the carpet or floor. You have to drag it back and forth. It takes twice as long to vacuum because of the effort and strength required to use this vacuum cleaner. I have a backache after using this vacuum cleaner. The crevice tool looks nothing like the picture of the woman holding it. The crevice tool is only about 4 inches long. The accessories look like they belong in a doll house. Changing from the floor nozzle to the accessories is difficult. The Black & Decker box said you have to buy replacement filters every 6-9 months to maintain suction. So, you have to continuously buy additional products to keep this vacuum working. I did not have to buy any replacement filters for my old vacuum cleaner from Bissell. I only needed to wash it periodically. I would not recommend this vacuum cleaner. I would give it zero stars if I had that option. I wish I could return it for a full refund, but no refunds once the box is opened. I strongly suggest potential buyers examine and test this vacuum cleaner at the store before buying. This Kenmore vacuum is a piece of Junk. I would give it zero stars but that is not an option. We had a Kenmore vacuum that was awesome for 20 years before it finally died. We thought we could buy the Kenmore BC4026 as a replacement. Wrong. The vacuum has been redesigned with none of the utility of our previous vacuum. The BC4026 is bulky and heavy making it difficult to get in tight to reach places. The end of the wand has a huge locking mechanism for attachments, which makes it impossible to vacuum along baseboards. I used our old Kenmore to vacuum the car interior, but the BC4026's handle is huge which makes it cumbersome to reach tight car interior spaces. Also, the hose swivel that attaches to the vacuum is not the L-shaped fitting shown on the box, so it does not swivel and keep a low profile like it should. This make maneuvering and storage of the vacuum difficult. They have plastic fittings on the BC4026's telescoping wand that make it difficult to extend. The old design was much better. Our old Kenmore vacuum was smaller and more streamlined with the same vacuum power making it more functional and a better design than the BC4026. Bottom line is that the BC4026 was not designed for its intended purpose of being a household vacuum.Michael

Overall this is a decent canister vacuum but the motorized vacuum head is of an ackward design. In order to vacuum more than a foot under furniture, you have to get down on your knees and move the motorized head in arcs left and right; the joint at which it attaches to the control handle prevents it from moving straight ahead without tilting up so that the agitator and suction end no longer makes contact with the carpet. If you move it to the left, the head may detach due to a poorly designed release lever on the left side; designed to make it easy to remove with your foot but making vacuuming under a bed a long and difficult process to get full coverage. I found myself having to reach repeatedly under the bed to retrieve the disconnected head. I was able to modify that release lever slightly by tightening the screw that attaches it but it is still an arduous task to vacuum under a bed; which was the main reason we bought a canister vacuum! You have to sweep in arcs and make sure you get coverage. This would be difficult for someone who has trouble laying down on their knees, pitching themselves forward and moving the wand back and forth in arcs. On the plus side, the "pet" motorized head is great for vacuuming carpeted stairs; no pet required to make good use of it.Jeffrey

We've got a couple large area rugs on otherwise all terrazzo floors. Recently adopted a short double coated Aussie Shepherd Beagle mix that has now begun shedding. This vacuum works great for our situation, the smaller head being easy to maneuver around and under tables and recliners. Intermittent use up to 30min for the rugs does cause the vacuum head to get pretty hot, not where you hold it, but to the exhaust side. Being corded delivers plenty of suction power without the added battery weight of a similarly capable cordless vac. I agree with others that upright storage could have been better executed. I'd suggest Shark include some kind of wall mount to hang it up when not in use. Overall happy with the product, although the price point around $200 on sale with coupon still seems a bit high in my opinion.Kent

1 person, 1 cat household. The vacuum has good suction BUT the cat hair gets stuck around a small metal peice and doesn't make it to the bin. If you have more than 1 pet – this is NOT the best unit. 1 room = empyting the bin and removing the hair from around the metal piece. It also cannot stand alone which is highly annoying. I don't want to take the motor off and attach it to the stick so that it will be self standing. DUMB design. It gets HOTTER than a Texas summer day very quickly. You cannot find the accessories listed in the maintaince booklet online. I guess they don't exist. You can find replacement filers. This vacuum is best as a quick, pick-me up unit — not your only vacuum.Zaney

This is more of an electric broom than a vacuum cleaner. It does a great job getting under furniture and cleans well on both carpet and bare floor. I have 2 dogs so I was trying to get to hard to reach areas. It does that well with the attachments included but I wish it had a brush. However, it’s made for small areas because it needs to be emptied often (easily) because it’s quite small. It also overheated after about 30 minutes of what I guess was too much work for it. Waiting an hour to turn it back on is a bummer. It’s a bit awkward to use as the handheld part at the top is heavy. As a result it won’t stand up on it’s own. You have to lay it down. It has it’s uses but doesn’t replace my old Shark. It’s much smaller and not much lighter.Mary

We received this pet vacuum when we were searching for a backup. We wanted a second to compare since we vacuum daily. We have a messy toddler, one long haired cat and five long haired humans living in our home. There are multiple settings to choose from (carpet, bare floors, etc.). The cyclone grabs dirt and dust, holds pet and long human hair and is easily able to access and dispose. I love how you can just dump the dirt and not have to use vacuum bags. The filter is reusable and can be rinsed out to clear. The eject button is in a good place (so you don't accidentally bump and dump. This happened several times with our other pet vacuum. Such a hassle to clean up another mess when you are already cleaning up your mess of a home). The cord is surprisingly long and can handle a big home. There are multiple attachments to use in your home or vehicle. The attachments work okay. The suction is adjustable on the pet hair attachment. They don't pick up everything and the components feel cheap. It doesn't feel durable and the plastic feels flimsy. The handling of the Eureka Pet Vacuum is okay. Compared to our other upright pet vacuum, this vacuum is harder to maneuver around corners and around furniture. It doesn't swivel around or under furniture with ease. The vacuum has a lower light but it's not very bright. This is a good backup vacuum for us. It helps pick up dust, dirt and hair. It works well for a big home since it has a very long retractable cord. Compared to our original pet vacuum, this product is just okay. We'd still choose to spend more to have a much better quality product that will last longer.JD

Well, how can I put this nicely….this thing is a piece of crap!!!!! Suction – almost none. Want to vacuum along a wall or baseboard – forget about anything up to about 2 inches from the wall or baseboard. This thing can't/won't touch it. Have pet hair, cigarette or fireplace ash, sand/fine dirt, or basically ANYTHING you want to vacuum/clean up? – This thing is great – if you like going over the same area 3-4 times. I'd do better with a frigging broom and a wade of scotch tape. On the brighter side, at least it does not blow out all over the room the itty bitty smidgeons it does manage to suck up.Wesley

Well, I can't really attest to how well this cleans because my carpets are brand new and I have no pets and it's only me in the house. What I can say is that it is lighter, less bulky and easier to maneuver then my old Bissell. It doesn't wear me out after doing one room. I wish it had an automatic cord rewind but, it's not a deal breaker. It's just a little awkward winding it back up because the hose is kind of in the way. It does have an ample cord length which is one thing I was looking for because all my outlets are behind furniture. I don't hate vacuuming anymore like I used to because of the heaviness of the machine. I also like how the canister comes off with just a push of the button which is at waist level.Featherytoad

This machine is very well built, I think it was released in 2021 and you can tell it’s the same high quality you would get from a metal vacuum costing $100’s more. This is not very heavy to push around and it even works on hard floors without damaging them. The suction is very strong. At 1st I thought the piece connecting the suction to the dust tank looked poorly made with a air gap, but it was my mistake, this thing is perfectly built to capture all dust without releasing it back into the air. I also thought the rewind cord feature was poorly made at 1st being plastic, but it’s pressure powered and with the right pressure from your foot on the knob it powerfully snatches the cord right in every time. 12ft height ceiling cleaning hose for filter vacuuming and stuff is the future. This is the vacuum you want for around $100 and i think this is the 2021 model.Gamer7

This is the worst vacuum I’ve ever owned and I’ve only had it a week! To use the hose-you disconnect it with a button-and dirt you’ve already cleaned out falls on the floor. To clean the canister-you have to put your hand up into it and continually shake the thing to get the dirt and stuff to fall down so it can be thrown away-all the whole dirt is getting on you and your floor. You have to completely pull all of the cord out when you use it-or it overheats! Sometimes you only need a foot of cord. The cord rewind button is flimsy and cheap and the rewind doesn’t work by itself-I’d rather secure the cord myself than deal with this. If could give negative stars-I would! Very solid machine. I love the brush attachment, it really gets the dog hair out of the sofa well, even better if you approach stubborn areas from angles other than the typical far to near motion. I’ve been frustrated in the past with how cheaply vacuums can be made and I didn’t want another one like that. I had a very nice cleaner years ago I bought at Home Depot. It broke, and then I went to tile and wood flooring, so I just didn’t use a vacuum for a long time. I’m so glad I tried this because I’m not sure but it seems exactly like the one that I had years ago, with a different color. Suction is great. I no longer need to dread spider webs and cleaning furniture and the like the old way….nice to have this decent tool back.Jese

It works great. Suction is great. It’s light and I like the size. The color is nice. It swivels so you can turn it to get into harder to reach areas. Easy assembly. The only thing I don’t like is the placement of the spare brush storage part. It’s a little too close to together and short. If it was maybe half an inch apart, would be better. The spare brush keeps falling off. But that’s a minor issue. I just removed the spare brushes and store them in a large ziplock bag.Elizabeth

I had an older model Dirt Devil Quick Path which was a bare-bones vacuum that was also bagless and had no attachments. The dirt devil got the job done but after upgrading to this Insignia-Bagless Upright Vacuum the difference in performance was night and day. The 75w suction power left my carpets ultra clean and looking as if they were new. The power cord is 30 ft long so I didn't have to replug it into another wall jack when I went in to vacuum another room. The hose is 7 ft. The handle has a full range of motion after you unlock it, meaning it's not limited to up/down or back/forth. It also came with two extra belts. The set-up was very easy. Just a snap of the top handle to the base, a turn of a screw at the back of the vacuum stem, a snap of both ends of the hose, and the attachments snap in place. I was able to get this vacuum at a daily deal price, almost half off. My only complaint is that I did not see a latch on the vacuum itself to harness the pet tool attachment. But easily one of the best vacuums I've ever owned if not the best!Oram787

This seemed like a promising vacuum, it has a replacement belt, a filter that may be cleaned/rinsed. It is somewhat small though and although it was easy to put together, months after using it and not very often.. a screw or something at the bottom seems to have snapped and now when I vacuum I hear an awful rattle. Thank fully I did get their protection plan and will be taking it in for a replacement. Given the price point in the future I may opt to spend a bit more to get a sturdier vacuum. Previous to this one I had either a Hoover or Dyson which worked pretty well but when the retractable cord frayed I decided I would try something a bit more economical. Anywho to summarize this is an okay vacuum Insignia normally has great items, this just did not meet my expectations too well but its not a horrible product, I’d be inclined to rate this 3.5 stars since that is not an option I rounded up to a 4.Kimmm
