Pros: Nice and light and portable. Does not tip over like the standard Henry. Adequate on carpets with no pile using brush facility. Cons: Suction is appalling. No use if you have to Hoover a lot of animal hair, just blows hair about and redeposits it elsewhere. Battery life poor, one full battery is not sufficient for the downstairs of a small two up two down. Takes about 3 hours to charge, which is a long time considering the battery life. He's the vacuum we should have purchased YEARS ago, instead of all those bagless, horrifyingly expensive uprights, promising to be all we needed to keep our home clean and quickly proving they just weren't up to the job. One of the most amazing points about Harry is that he doesn't blow "wet dog" odours back out as he vacuums. Now the carpets not only look spotless again but the rooms smell fresh thanks to his charcoal filter. The electric lead is really long and the dust bag is massive so, all in all, no need to keep stopping to find another socket to plug in to, rarely having to fit a new dust bag and no stopping to pull dog hair out of his special "fur" attachment, because he just keeps going.AMAZING!!!We've fallen in love with Harry. Pros: Tube too long for me as I am short, but you can remove one piece of the metal tube to reduce length. British made. Previously had two small cheap (<£70) hepa 'Hoover' cylinder vacuums which funnily enough failed two months after warranty each time! Wanted new hoover to last much longer to be kinder to landfill (eco reasons) and it seems robust enough to last longer than 2-3 years, time will tell.There must be a reason why cleaners and builders routinely choose this brand!Great suction including large bits of kiddie-crumbs. I bought this Oreck XL Commercial floor sweeper as a brand-new backup unit for an existing Oreck Xl home vac that I bought back in the 1990's. The original one still works just fine and the only maintenance it has ever required, other than bag changes, was a single drive belt replacement. The Oreck XL is a workhorse floor/carpet sweeper! And, the best part is that I recently got this brand-new one for $200, which is less than half of the price I paid for my original Oreck XL, back in the 1990's. The Oreck XL Commercial vacuum is light in weight (8 pounds). The low profile makes it incredibly easy to slide underneath a bed (you can even store it under there, between uses). It has a very comfortable ergonomically-designed handle with readily accessible on/off control switch. Each vacuum bag is top-loading and holds an incredible amount of debris. The filter bag is easy to change, is reasonably priced, and prevents any sneeze-producing dust from ever escaping the vac during use.vintage-connections

5/15/19 I did a lot of research before I chose to get one of these. I found out that the motor is only a 4 amp motor and I wondered if that was going to be powerful enough to do a good job. (I knew the motor was very long lasting.). I figured that because the discharge bag downstream of the motor was so much larger then comprable vacuums, that there would not be much back pressure on the motor and so by design, you probably don't need such a powerful motor. I also figured, that if you design a vacuum cleaner right, why would you need a 10 11 12 amp motor? I like the fact that it had a good quality cord that you didn't have to bend over to wrap the cord up it had a big bag so you didn't have to constantly buy bags did it was durable, because it is what janitors use and hotels across the country. I also know that my carpet was not a shag carpet it was a lower carpet and it was a hardwood floor. So I figured I would buy it from Walmart and try it and if I don't like it I can get my money back. WOW!!! I am so impressed with this machine! It picks up like you would not believe everything and I love the fact that you don't need a motor that is so powerful it belongs on a saw to cut wood. I love not having all these gadget cheap accessories that falling off all the time. I love being able to get underneath stuff. I love the lightweight. I love the switch on the handle in case I suck up a sock or shoelace. so that I can shut the motor off before I burn up a belt. I love the fact there's a spare belt underneath. I love the heavy-duty cushioning around the motor housing. And I really like the way the brushes are set up the beater bars very well-designed very simple very rugged very durable. (I believe in keep it simple KISS.)! So what if it's a tad noisy. And the negative review the guy posted about not being able to get us handle tight……well…… Some people are just not the least bit mechanically inclined. I like it better than my Bissell, KenmoreJay

Our Princess vacuum just died. We have always had problems finding bags for it anyway… We received a used Oreck as a gift many years ago and it still runs and cleans super. This vacuum is good for its price. It is mainly plastic construction but it holds up with normal use. The power cable is two pieces (short length attached to the vacuum and a long extension) that is heavy duty and weighs a lot more than standard vacuums.wiz240

I purchased this for my son who is in construction so he can clean up messes for his customers when he finishes his jobs. I have owned 3 Oreck sweepers for 25+ years. Received my first canister sweeper as a freebie when I purchased my first upright. I loved it for cleaning cars, stairs, windows and around the baseboards in our home. It was light weight but very durable. It was my go-to sweeper for small and quick jobs. The only complaints I have are the red cord… really? why red? and the flexible hose is not long enough for most chores. I had another hose from an older sweeper, my husband had to modify the older hose but now I am much happier with the longer, more flexible hose.Kathy

It is difficult to use.1. the hose always pulls against you – have tried to stretch it out but it doesn't work.2. The friction method of attaching the extension wand does not work as the weight of the wand is too heavy. I kept having to put it back on as it slides off and eventually the end of the wand cracked and needed to be taped.3. The longer cord is great but is too heavy for the weight of the canister itself.4. The strap broke within a month so can't hang it over my shoulder > the little plastic that attaches it – is not strong enough.5. Great vacuum for quickly cleaning hard floors, blinds, upholstery, and trim. When I use it I find myself vacuuming other things as well since it is so convenient and powerful. The two attachments with bristles arrived with the bristles bent out of shape. Called Hoover and they sent replacements that also had bent out of shape bristles. Didn't bother trying a third time. Will have to put felt pad on edges of floor tool because I just noticed it is leaving black marks on the white trim. Wish wand attachment pieces could be used separately, sometimes the wand is too long to maneuver in tight spaces. Overall very satisfied with the purchase.CraftFish

This vacuum is powerful and easy to use in open areas. Very powerful suction. The long cord prevents constant stop and change outlets: I can almost vacuum my whole house without changing outlets. The attachment tools are a bit tricky; took a while to figure out how to get them on and off (no instructions in the manual on this) still don't know if I'm attaching them correctly but they are working. Quicker cleaning without a canister to drag around the room; stairwell is a breeze now. I can easily use the vacuum to dust the baseboards, cabinets, furniture and crown molding. I would recommend this vacuum to anyone with large open floor areas; not so much for small crowded rooms.REBECCA J.

I bought this item for my personal home use because of the greatly discounted price. When it arrived I found that the tools didn't fit the wand. The tools OD was smaller that the wand ID. I tried contacting the Hoover service department but was never able to get through, both on the phone and by email. I was able to fashion some sleeves for the tools so that they would fit the wand properly. The sleeves are simply metal tape wrapped around the flange. They attach securely and swivel as needed. Works fine for me since I just use the vacuum around the house. I only kept it because of the low price and the fact I don't use it that much. If I were using it on a daily basis, my fix wouldn't hold up and there would be the needed to reapply the tape, so I would have sent it back.Paul T.

First off you need too know we have a 2-story home, about 30 years old, fully carpeted, with two indoor dogs (Corgis – who have two coats that they “blow” year round!)! We learned a long time ago that dust and dog hair was a real problem, and needed a vacuum that could keep up. Tried several expensive ones with all the “doo-dads” but they would break quickly, loose suction very quickly, couldn’t keep up with the pet hair… You get the picture. Our most recent purchase before the Oreck was one of those “ball” type vacuums that supposedly never loose suction – supposed to be a real “Animal”, and the cost reflected the hype. But it was so lousy at picking up pet hair I would have to “rake” the carpet with a little plastic rake first to get up most the pet hair. It would loose suction and the cannister would fill up so fast I had to empty it after every room. So I broke down and spent some money on a simple vacuum with no gimmicks, just “a vacuum”. The Oreck XL Commercial is the real “animal” in this zoo. It NEVER loses suction. Where none of the other vacuums I ever owned would do a good job of getting pet hair and that powder you spread to make the carpet smell good up in one pass, the Oreck gets all of it in ONE pass. The bag on this vacuum can be changed out in about 30 seconds (when you have too). I probably could vacuum this house twice and still not have to replace the bag as it’s really that big! And the cord is 40’ long! No more constantly hunting for a plug. I plug it in once and do an entire floor. It’s built very simple and tuff since it’s a commercial grade vacuum and very light weight. Oh, the handle is really nice and you can bend it completely level with the floor to vacuum under tables and such. I don’t ussually take the time to right a review since I figure they should make stuff right to begin with. But this vacuum deserves a good review.R.H.

Had mine for a month so far I love it. I had a home where I was spoiled with a central vac and was worried when I had to move into an older home I wouldn't find a good vacume replacement for the central vac. This is a great substitute! Love the long wand and the freedom to move around the house and vacume stairs without a bulky push vacume bumping walls and such. Good suction and easy to use. I researched backpack vacs for weeks because it was a big investment for my cleaning business and I came to the conclusion that this was the one for me; then, a friend (who's used dozens of backpack vacs) used the Pro-team vac somewhere and told me it was the best one shed ever used…that sealed the deal! I put in the order… It picks up everything, it doesn't leave small particles behind, it is light, it isn't obnoxiously loud, it has cut my 8 hour day down by at least 45 minutes, because I'm not taking 5 steps, then looking behind me to tow the canister safely to not hit any furniture! I can just plug it in once and go! I recommend this vacuum to ANYBODY who has a cleaning business! It saves on time, and as we all know, time is money! So it pays for itself very quickly. I highly recommend getting the additional 14" horsehair brush, I use that all over the place, and I just got the turbo carpet attachment to make vacuuming high pile rugs easier. While it may seem strange to get excited about a vacuum cleaner, I am THRILLED with this one! I have owned janitorial companies for years and have been reluctant to try a backpack vacuum. I've always heard that they are awkward, heavy and don't do a very good job of cleaning a carpet. I'm happy to say those reports couldn't be further from the truth in this case. This unit has so much suction that it will lift up area rugs while vacuuming. We stand on them now so they will stay in place and WOW do they come clean. It's very easy to maneuver while wearing the vacuum and areas that we had to go over two and three times with a standard vacuum are now clean after one pass. I had some concerns about the noise level bothering my employees, but it's also much quieter than I expected. Honestly, it's quieter than our conventional vacs. Here's what really impresses me… EFFICIENCY! When you own a janitorial company, time is money. This machine has cut my payroll by almost 25%! Rooms that took an hour to vacuum, are now being done in 30-45 minutes. I can tell you first hand that saving 15-30 minutes per job adds up quickly! The price of this vacuum is incredibly reasonable. When you compare it too the Wide Area Windsor vacuum that I just replaced with this ProTeam unit, I can honestly say I'll never buy another Wide Area vac again. I paid a little over $400 for this vacuum, versus $2,500 for the Windsor Wave. After using this vacuum for almost 2 months, I'm ready to buy another one for a new cleaning contract we just signed. This will be my go-to vac from here on. I do have ONE complaint. The wand that the unit comes with is less than stellar. The plastic connector that holds the floor tool on fell off after about 3 weeks of daily use. I contacted customer service and they sent me to a local vendor who replaced the entire assemble the same day and at no charge. I was very happy with their speedy response to my emergency.Adam S.

This vacuum is horrible. I thought I would like it after reading the reviews but it is extremely heavy. It doesn't maneuver.. When you try to go underneath a chair because of the weight of the tof the top of the vacuum the bottom part does not remain flat as it will not touch the carpet. The hose is not it's not great either. Very stiff. I wish I was able to return it but it was purchased during covid and target wouldn't let you return home goods.Dee9435

We have had many brands of vacuums before. None were as well designed and solid as the Prolux 9000. It is quiet yet has great suction. We have oriental carpets. After one vacuuming with our Prolux we could visibly see how much cleaner they were. Attachments are wonderful and store securely in the vacuum. First let me start by saying I had never even heard of Prolux before. Doing online research though in search of a new reliable vacuum that is upright and has a bag, my husband actually found your company. I love the vacuum! Unlike other uprights I have owned, it came completely assemble except for the handle, which was a breeze to attach. I will admit I was concerned for the weight of the machine, but I swear this vacuum is self-propelled, or at least it seems like it is. Very easy to push on thick carpet and I love that all I have to do is press a button with my foot to change to hardwood flooring in my kitchen. I love that all the attachments are conveniently stored on-board. Very easy to change from upright to using the attachments. The only thing I'm not sure about is the lever on the back of the nozzle to adjust the suction power. Not really crazy about it but it's definitely not a deal breaker for me. I love the switch on the handle in case I suck up a sock or shoelace. so that I can shut the motor off before I burn up a belt. I love the fact there's a spare belt underneath. I love the heavy-duty cushioning around the motor housing. And I really like the way the brushes are set up the beater bars very well-designed very simple very rugged very durable. (I believe in keep it simple KISS.)! So what if it's a tad noisy. And the negative review the guy posted about not being able to get us handle tight……well…… Some people are just not the least bit mechanically inclined. I like it better than my Bissell, KenmoreJay

Our Princess vacuum just died. We have always had problems finding bags for it anyway… We received a used Oreck as a gift many years ago and it still runs and cleans super. We still wanted a second vacuum on the top level. Well, that was a no brainer. The Oreck is very lite and easy to maneuver. Best vacuum cleaning we have ever seen.Brian

I bought this Oreck XL Commercial floor sweeper as a brand-new backup unit for an existing Oreck Xl home vac that I bought back in the 1990's. The original one still works just fine and the only maintenance it has ever required, other than bag changes, was a single drive belt replacement. The Oreck XL is a workhorse floor/carpet sweeper! And, the best part is that I recently got this brand-new one for $200, which is less than half of the price I paid for my original Oreck XL, back in the 1990's. The Oreck XL Commercial vacuum is light in weight (8 pounds). The low profile makes it incredibly easy to slide underneath a bed (you can even store it under there, between uses). It has a very comfortable ergonomically-designed handle with readily accessible on/off control switch. Each vacuum bag is top-loading and holds an incredible amount of debris. 5/15/19 I did a lot of research before I chose to get one of these. I found out that the motor is only a 4 amp motor and I wondered if that was going to be powerful enough to do a good job. (I knew the motor was very long lasting.). I figured that because the discharge bag downstream of the motor was so much larger then comprable vacuums, that there would not be much back pressure on the motor and so by design, you probably don't need such a powerful motor. I also figured, that if you design a vacuum cleaner right, why would you need a 10 11 12 amp motor? I like the fact that it had a good quality cord that you didn't have to bend over to wrap the cord up it had a big bag so you didn't have to constantly buy bags did it was durable, because it is what janitors use and hotels across the country. I also know that my carpet was not a shag carpet it was a lower carpet and it was a hardwood floor. So I figured I would buy it from Walmart and try it and if I don't like it I can get my money back. WOW!!! I am so impressed with this machine! It picks up like you would not believe everything and I love the fact that you don't need a motor that is so powerful it belongs on a saw to cut wood. I love not having all these gadget cheap accessories that falling off all the time. I love being able to get underneath stuff. I love the lightweight. I am a highly experienced electronic repair technician. I just rebuilt a Shark Rotator Professional lift-away vacuum. Of course users fail to replace or clean all three filters causing loss of suction. Cleaning these with warm water and dawn dish soap works best. The unit claims to have thermal monitoring protection on the brush roll base and its design is causing the complaints of failure to work on carpeting in consumer homes. There is no thermal sensor. It uses a D.C. motor to a circuit board where a series low ohm current drop resistor exists. When the motor is slowed , thwe motor draws more current which lowers the resistence in the moter resistor series circuit causing increased voltage drop on the resistor triggering the circuit and activating the motors disconnect relay turning off motor. Although it does much to protect the motor in case of armature freezing with current applied. It makes the consumer unhappy because they cant vacuum carpets as they expect to paying almost 400 dollars for this nice vacuum. The fast fix is simply taking a soldering iron and lifting on side of the feed back silicon diode and reassembling unit. Now you will find the brush roll attachment actually works and does an awesome cleaning job on any carpet. Be sure to use caution and not pick up things that will jam the brush roller and break the belt. If this happens please turn off vacuum unplug and remove obstruction from brush roller. Then plug back in and finish vacuuming. I hope this helps others, mine is now issue less and working awesome.MissTiffany2025

Okay, this vacuum cleaner is actually FUN to run! It’s lightweight and very flexible. The long wand makes getting corners, cracks and crevices a breeze. Only drawback is the base will tip over if you stretch the hose too far, so keep an eye on it as you use the wand. Cleaning stairs is easy with the “Lift Away” feature. The NV501 has strong suction and durability. Do your regular maintenance as other reviews have mentioned, and store it properly. It’s super easy to take apart when needed. I accidentally sucked up a microfiber cloth once, but was able to open the hose at the right spot and pull the cloth right out. We’ve had our NV501 for almost a decade and still no problems. Have purchased this particular model as gifts for friends and family. Highly recommended.DB

I’ve had this model for about 5 years and yes occasionally you’ll have to cut some hair off the powdered brush if you have long hair or girls around or just heavy traffic I guess but that takes literally 20 seconds. Grab a pair of scissors, cut the hair and pull it out. Any vacuum with a brush is going to eventually wrap up hair! The vacuum has one killer motor, it cleans like nothing I’ve ever seen. I’m continuously impressed by the vast amount of dander, dust, and allergens it grabs every single time! I love how the handle comes off to clean small areas such as my couch cushions, behind furniture, etc. (I have this model which cane with ALL the attachments so I may have paid a bit more but it was definitely worth it) the only other difference is the colors. Mine has dark blue where the red is shown. I absolutely love how I can detach the base when going up stairs as shown in the photo. I don’t use the tiny “car part cleaners” which also came with the bulk of attachments but I guess it’s there if I were to ever need it. My fav attachment is the smaller roller brush that literally eats every cat hair off my dining room chairs and wherever else I need it. Anyway I suppose I could go on but you get my drift. By the way of course after awhile the vacuum will accumulate dust around the base and hose (I’ve seen someone post photos here of their dirty vacuum lol) but it’s a vacuum! It’s going to get dirty! My last thought pertains to the newest model I believe, the NV1000 with the “self cleaning brush” or double brush very bulky looking one. Although I haven’t used it, I personally don’t think it is going to sell much in the end. I say that with regards to the current reviews and complaints along with the marketing aspect in mind. What I conclude is just logical: once again as long as there is a revolving brush or in this case 2 rolling brushes, in time there WILL BE a hair issue as long as there are women, girls, and pets around. I have been using this garage vac for a few weeks and found it has been really convenient. It comes with a great set of attachments and we love the long hose and cord. It is great for cleaning out cars. We mounted it towards the front of our garage so we could easily get to cars in the driveway with the hose, but is also nice that it comes off the mount quickly so we can take it inside. We like it for cleaning the stairs. This unit has a lot more suction than any in-house vacuum we have ever used, but doesn't replace my 6 gallon shop vacuum simply because that can pick up more and heavier debris. I do wish the canister was a little bigger, but it is still nice to have there on the wall for smaller jobs.JMS97

Bought this for a general purpose garage vacuum. Like the lightweight vacuum and wall mount keeps it off the floor. Long hose and power cord allows it to go anywhere within my 2.5 car garage. Suction is good and filters ensure you are capturing dirt and not just circulating dirty air. Nice productMike S
