Best Vacuum For Dogs That Shed (2024 Update)

Ordered this bundle for such a great deal! Unfortunately, the item was delivered to the wrong address by FedEx. Totally not Hoover's fault. They re-shipped another bundle to me, and it worked out well the second time. I love these vacuums! They do a great job on our hardwoods and rugs and carpet. Our two year old loves to help vacuum too – that's how light the stick vacuum is! Being cordless is such a plus!!! Only wish that the batteries weren't so expensive, but that's not a huge deal. We purchased one extra battery just so both the handheld and stick have their own batteries. I will say that the handheld is far inferior to the stick, but it works for what we need (to do the stairs and our cars) – just have to go over the same areas multiple times, as the suction isn't stellar. I would recommend and purchase the stick vacuum again for sure… just probably not the handheld.Moon

I bought this cordless vac because I like any conveniences I can get when it comes to house work. I use my floor cleaners more often when cordless. I can glady skip wrapping/unwrapping, plugging/unplugging cords in and out of electrical outlets from room to room. I've been happy with this cordless since I got it last July (not quite one year old). It was an upgrade overall from what I had. However the hose got a hole in it not about 6-7 months in. Not from anything I could figure out. I duct taped it and after a second hole, I contacted the Manufacturer, since it's still within a 3 year warranty. They said the hose is not made anymore – already out of making the parts??? They will replace it — okay, — but I have to mail the whole vac back on my dime. They will pay for the shipment of the new unit. Which may be kinda fair, but it's too soon for this type of episode with a not quite a year old vacuum. Since the parts are not being made – there's no commitment to this product by the mfr. I did not buy at this store, but thought I would let someone know if considering — please don't do it.Chickee

I was going back and forth between this and the shark navigator cordless. They seemed pretty even on reviews. I mostly decided on this because it's was on sale on the Hoover website! I had to wait a little longer to get it then I would from other sites(about 5 days from the day I ordered it) but it was worth the price difference for sure. I was worried about it as I have 4 dogs. A great dane(high shedder short hair), a Mini Aussie( How shedder clumpy hair), a King Shepherd(high shedder clumpy long hair) and a Cheweenie(high shedder short hair. I also have a maine coon cat. So, I essentially have lots of hair everywhere, all the time. I do NOT know how this performs on carpers because I bought it for my wood floors( bathrooms(2), hallway, entryway, dining room, and kitchen.) So far it has worked great for me. I have had ZERO clog issues despite the amount of hair it has to pick up and I have been able to vacuum all the above mentioned rooms in one swoop without the battery going dead. It picks everything up easily. I actually accidentally sucked up a good size piece of paper today and really though it would cause my first clog, but atlas it didn't. So far this vacuum is performing perfectly for me. I think the only downside I can think of as of now is the fact that a replacement battery is 100$. However, there are off brand batteries other places that are compatible with this vacuum for half the price, and the reviews on them state that they actually work better than the original hoover battery… So, I will probably just go that route whenever I need a new battery. If you want a cordless for wood (or any non carpeted) floors, this one is definitely recommended. And it does hold up against that pet hair!Ameri5

I LOVE my Hoover Total Home Pet bagless vacuum cleaner! I vacuum my house at least daily due to having one big dog and 2 cats that all seem to shed. I usually end up purchasing a new vacuum every year. I have owed so many vacuums over the years and I have never bought the same one twice. I think I have found my forever brand and model with the Hoover Total Home Pet bagless vacuum! I love how powerful this vacuum is! After one vacuum, I was amazed at how much hair was in the canister! I love that the vacuum is lightweight since I have to carry it to three different floors in my home. I like the different settings for both the carpet and the hardwood as my home has both types of flooring. The suction on this vacuum is so powerful, you will be amazed! The tools that came with this vacuum are awesome! The quick release cleaning wand is perfect to clean those high areas and the dusting brush is extremely helpful with cleaning the blinds, curtains and ceiling fans. My favorite attachment tool though is the pet turbo tool! This tool is so easy to use and gets all the hair off my couches and steps! Thank you Hoover for making such a powerful vacuum cleaner! The overall feel of this vacuum cleaner would best be described as cheap. The plastic used for the housing is flimsy and the handle itself feels unsecure. The dirt collection canister is difficult to release due to the manufacture glue holding the flap in place. The brush attachment stopped working within 10 minutes of use and when it does run the attachment provides poor cleaning power. Overall I am not satisfied with the vacuum and I have begun my return of the item. I purchased this and a Hoover carpet cleaner and I am just as displeased with the cleaner.Bill

I've had this vacuum for a b little over a year as a spare for upstairs. I don't use it that often and it had worked fine for what I needed. Then it shut off the other day while using it. I discovered hair clogs in the hose. Seriously disappointed since this is specifically for households with pets. I cleared the clogs, cleaned the brushroll and tried again. There was very little suction and it still turned off after a few minutes of use. I took out the filters & made sure they were clean. I was actually surprised at how clean they were. Tested it again this morning and there is still no suction. It gets hot and shuts off. Not sure if I should spend the money to get it services or just throw it away. I don't remember if I registered it for the warranty and there doesn't seem to be a way to check the website.Candace

Honestly haven’t had any major complaints about the vacuum. We do have kids so we use it probably every other day to 2 days. It’s a compact vacuum which is a plus. The one tiniest complaint I’d have is after going back and forth a couple times there are some items that you would think the vacuum would pick up, but doesn’t. Instead, I use the detachable wand for those odd pieces. I should clarify, the vacuum has picked up 99% of what is seen on the carpet. It’s just those random odd stragglers and it doesn’t happen every time. As for our tiles, I just use the wand to pick up anything necessary then jet swift it but that’s a different product.GL

To start off I would have to say that the Dirt Devil Endura Max Upright vacuum is a high quality performing product. There is very great suction when it comes to pet hair and even popcorn in the carpet that my child had spilled. The spinning brush is adjustable to many settings. Such as bare floor to higher profile carpet. It does a great job of pulling dirt and hair out of my medium profile carpet. It isn't to heavy so when I use the extended hose handle I can carry it from place to place. One thing in was not a fan of was the multi dusting piece. It was a little to bulky to fit into my window seal to get that dirt out. The smaller end was also not long and thin enough to fit into my dryer vent. The dusting piece also added extra unnecessary bulk. It is a nice concept but it isn't as great as the individual pieces. Other than my opinion on the duster, I really enjoy and love my Dirt Devil Endura Max Upright vacuum. If you are contemplating this purchase, I recommend you try this product. Other than marrying my ex husband, buying this vacuum was the worst decision of my life. It is bulky and cheap plastic. Extremely loud and makes my arm go numb from all of the vibration! It has a "hardwood" setting but the brush still spins in that setting, which can scratch the hardwood. I was excited about the pet brush attachment, but is doesn't really work since the attachment will NOT stay on the hose or in the attachment holder, for that matter. It does not have much suction, I feel running a lint brush over the carpet would pick up more! I won't even give this vaccum away because I wouldn't want anyone to hate me!BBB Customer

Very powerful, light and maneuverable, the brush is driven by a separate motor, seams like a great design, but the brush allows hair to get right into the Barrings!!! I removed and cleaned the brush after 2nd use, found that some pet and human hair had gotten into the Barring, melted the barring cap and housing. the third use the brush stopped before i was done as it was bound up. I only used it for the upstairs of my house. I'll call support to try to get another brush, but how long will the last? after years of well designed brushes, WHAT Happened? were they lasting too long?DAVID

My little dog sheds an unbelievable amount of fur. I use this throughout my home. The best things about this product are: 1) strong motor; 2) it's lightweight; 3) the attachment hose is long enough that the vacuum doesn't collapse when in use; 3) disassembling the unit to clean is very easy, assembling is also very easy. I bought a well-advertised competitive pet vacuum during the pandemic shutdown. It caused me nothing but grief. I don't have the strong hands of a 20-year old any longer, so I dreaded having to clean the canister. There were times I broke into tears of frustration because I just didn't have the strength to move the parts in the same directions. (I put that product up on the neighborhood website "for sale" section, reducing my purchase price by 2/3. Still no takers.) I need a clean house. Vacuum worked in steaks so you have to run it over the same spot over and over to get the whole even just a small area. The pet hair attachment broke pretty quickly after purchase. The accordion tubing connecting the arm tore in multiple places, we had to tape it repeatedly to retain suction because it kept breaking in different places. We have two huskies and vacuum like 2-3 times a week so it’s not like we used it incessantly. The final straw was another broken spot in the tubing which then kept disconnecting from the handheld attachment. Overall, did not stand up to any normal wear and tear, not sustainable for the price. You will be amazed how much your previous vacuum has missed once you start using this wonder. We have two cats and three dogs-a golden retriever and border collie who are shed machines-and I seemed to be constantly chasing hair tumbleweeds. The first time I used the vacuum on my 9x7rug, I had to empty the canister twice. That would have been two bags with the last vacuum. Not only is our house now cleaner but our wallet a little fatter as we are not buying two boxes of bags a month. Plus the benefits for the upcoming spring allergy season. This product marketed as "Pet Pro+" is poorly designed. From the first use, dog hair gets stuck behind the debris rollers inside the dust cup. It's not simply a matter of pressing the release button to dispose the hair & dust. You have to dig behind to get everything out after each use. It's really inconvenient, dirty, and time-consuming. I purchased it to upgrade my Bissell Pet Hair Eraser, but am relieved I kept that old Bissell which I still use instead. Unfortunately I lost the BBB receipt but kept the Shark box flap with product information. See picture of that + problem. Please can you send me a better replacement?BBB Customer

Does an adequate job. This vacuum does not move a lot of air, but the attachment openings are small, which mostly offsets the low flow volume. As a result, this vacuum is not a good choice for weighty detritus – it just doesn't have the suction or air speed to pick up heavier materials. The smaller attachments cover very little surface area, so it's not a good choice for big spills, either. It does great on pet hair & dander, cat litter, dust & other lightweight materials though. The new Pet Power Brush attachment is a definite improvement over previous revisions. You're not required to clean the brush after every use to released trapped hair. The Power Brush is powered by the vacuum's internal battery, so using it will consume more battery, but I've yet to have an issue with the battery running out, even during extended use. The quick release bagless design is an improvement over older models that required filter bags, though the compartment is quite small. Once again, this vaccum is not intended for large areas or large volumn jobs. My only real complaint is the location of the power button. During normal use, that is where my index finger prefers to rest for stablization while reaching with the vacuum. I'll turn it off 20 times during a small job. I'm sure the power switch will wear out long before any other component, at least for me.HBailey

Out of the box, the vacuum was great. Sucked up everything. Within a month, it was basically a glorified hand vacuum. The only way I can get it to do anything is to use remove the hose and the attachments. The actual suction when using it upright is terrible. It vibrates like a dolphining F1 race car, makes a hideous popping and hissing sound from the side, and worst of all, leaves fuzz, dirt , and giant hard balls of lint all over my floors rather than actually cleaning them. Using this vacuum is more work than simply using a broom and a hand held dirt Devil. Customer service was helpful in trying to fix the issues but the suggested solve didn't work. The vacuum is a lemon…complete waste of the time and money spent.Card Lady

The tools are ill placed with the placement and storage of the electrical cord (always falling off). The telescope for the hose to attachments doesn't lock properly and always ALWAYS pushing back in. I don't have an issue with pet hair on the roller getting stuck, but I do with human hair and any amount of length to trash. The spot where the hose connects to the canister is constantly getting clogged because it is small and narrow, needs to be wider. Pay CLOSE attention when taking the filter out of the canister and putting it back; there is a reason it is meticulously marked. The alignment must be perfect or it won't go back together properly; this is the same for everything on the vacuum. Hard to push when vacuuming (hence one of the reasons I said to read instructions carefully)? You have to provide some air to release the amount of suction, so it moves easier with the little knob on the left; by the way, it moves also on its own.feltermail

Within 1 minute of its' first use this model #2475 Pet Hair Eraser Turbo had its' brush roll stop spinning before a small 10×10 foot area was complete. The belt assembly is centre mounted so debris from both sides of the brush roll collects towards its' centralized belt motor which sits open with nothing to protect it from debris. This results in it being the furthest thing from the "tangle free" unit it is advertised as. Removal of the head screws holding the bottom cover in place is quite easy so I was able to see what was causing the jam (see picture attached). The manufacturer claims the unit can accept hair length of 4-8 inches. The longest of the hairs in this pictures is 3 inches, so the job in question should have been well within the manufacturer's guidelines. Upon reassembling the base the unit promptly got jammed a second time. After once again removing the clog I decided to give it a different task, cleaning hardwood. This unit has a key feature for those with hardwood floors, its' brush can turn on/off, saving your hardwood from being scratched by the roller. Sadly there is very little suction (see video attached). I found without the brush roll spinning the machine picks up essentially nothing. The last major feature this unit is its' heavily marked "pet hair eraser" attachments. For 2 yrs running… I have purchased THIS vacuum on black friday. I clean an office building, running the vacuum monday thru friday for about an hour a day. MOST (cheap) vacuums only last me 6 months.. thats just the average. The first one made it 10 months before the wheels started giving way. They become loose and kinda start going lopsided.. making it hard to push.. I had good suction till i retired it. The 2nd vacuum is limping now with lopsided wheels. we are at 9 months. To keep suction.. i have to completely take apart the tank and clean tons of dirt out of it, once a month. Ive gotten my moneys worth.. but i would rather have a vacuum i can get parts for and fix. so, no third one 🙂 Hoover is the worst company to get parts for the vacuums it seems. I went bissell for 9 yrs before this.. and i could keep repairing for a yr or more with new parts.. and i am talking the cheapest vacuum they have. but they dont have the suction they used to.Debi

I'm only rating this a 4 star for now I haven't owned it long enough to have troubles. Overall price – not bad at all $59. Unboxing I found each piece described as the box does state on the back bottom right corner. You get 1 vacuum, 1 plastic extender wand & plastic corner brush. Easily put together by 1 screw that's included on the machine. The hose does extend 8 ft when measured from vacuum base to tip then add the extender pipe & corner brush gives you a total of 10ft reach just as box states "10 ft extended cleaning reach." The power switch is located very low on the back & that's not horrible but it would be better higher up on front of handle. There is no retractable cord but for $30 less then other vacuum options I'm ok with winding it myself. It's not exceptionally quiet but neither is my house with kids & pets. No high screeching or odd noises from motor. As for height adjustment I keep it on high carpet while working over hard floors & there's no problems. I overall am satisfied with my purchase at this time.barb gerding

What a huge disappointment!! Zero stars should be an option. Walmart and Hoover misrepresented this on Walmart's site. They said it has an extended reach of 12 feet, it's not even close. I actually thought the extended reach hose was missing from the box. The box and owners manual claims 10 feet and it isnt even that. They show a long red crevice tool when in fact you get a short black one. They also show and say that it comes with an upholstery tool for pet hair and a dusting brush, as well as the crevice tool but it didn't come with the upholstery tool nor does it even mention one in the owners manual. I thought the wrong vacuum was delivered so I checked the model number they show online with the one on the box and it is the same. There is a really horrible high pitched whistle the entire time the vacuum is on. It hurts my ears. It may be comparable to chalk screaching on a chalkboard…non stop. There are noticeable design flaws as well. The brushroll turns while using the tools which can damage flooring. This is mentioned in the manual. Obviously, Hoover doesn't care about their reputation anymore. As long as they mention the problem it's not their fault, lol. The other flaw that I see is the location of the power switch. It's just a bad spot for some of us with bad backs because some of us have to bend over and look for the seemingly hidden switch and let's face it, this vacuum already causes a backache just to use it anyway. I'm 5' 4" and still have to bend over to use the so called extended reach. They also give contradicting information about servicing the vacuum too. On page 8 of the manual they state that the product contains no serviceable parts however on page 9 in the notice section about if the thermal protector continues to activate, your cleaner needs servicing, then on page 13, repeats their statement of this product contains no serviceable parts, then just below that they say to unplug before cleaning or servicing…Wow! All of this and I haven't even emptied the dirt cup yet…this should be fun!Anna

My house can be pretty hectic- we have 4 (soon to be 5) young kiddos, 3 puppies, and 4 cats. Cleaning is something that happens all day long, pretty much constantly. One of the biggest pain points is keeping the floors clean because try as we might, if our youngest isn't trying to eat something off the floor, the puppies will. Enter the Bissell Surface Sense Upright Vacuum. This thing has legitimately been life changing. If you have pets, I'm sure you have fought with vacuuming, or sweeping, up their hair. As soon as you get close to it, the hair blows away. Not with this vacuum. I don't know what kind of magical technology they put in this thing but it actually attracts and vacuums up the hair, it doesn't blow it away. Additionally, something both amazing and quite terrifying, the light on the front of the vacuum makes hair and any sort of floor debris stand out like it's a beacon. It makes it super easy to ensure that all the hair and debris is cleaned up because you can't help but notice it with the light. It's terrifying because it shows just how much hair is truly shed, which is way more than you initially imagine. I should note that my floor is probably 75% hardwood, 15% vinyl planks, and 10% carpet. The way this thing changes the height of the brush automatically is phenomenal. I can move from room to room with such ease. I have another pretty high end vacuum ($500) and this one beats it every single time. I can vacuum an area with my other vacuum and then go through with this one and the amount of stuff it picks up is phenomenal. The one and only downside to this vacuum is that it does not flatten/recline back very far so cleaning under tables and chairs can be a challenge. You can use the extension and the attachments to reach these areas, but it would be way more convenient if you could just do it with the vacuum. I received the Bissell Surface Sense Upright Vacuum as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel program. Bissell has always been a favorite brand for floor care but this tops them all! The Bissell Surface Sense Upright vacuum is intuituve, by sensing between hard floors & carpet. Making it a breeze to vacuum all your floors, & even gets the debris along edges well too. Or this function can be switched off to run the brush continuously. It almost drives itself & takes little effort to push around the house even on the thickest of carpets.The handle can be removed to expose the wand for the versatile, convenient, & very useful attachments. My favorite is the uniquely shaped crevice tool that also has a led light that helps you see those hidden places, & get them clean. But I absolutely love the tangle free brush roll. Despite having a long hair dog, 3 adults with hair to their waist, & 5 young kids, I never had to pull hair from the brush, & only had to empty the canister, as I despise cleaning hair. The canister is big enough to vacuum multiple rooms, & is simple to remove to dump without leaving a mess behind. When removed, you can also access 2 different filters, one on top of the canister, on underneath which makes for an ultimate clean. It also has suction control on the handle which makes it convenient to switch to the best settings for different areas. Overall, it is very accessible, & versatile making an upgrade on performance, & design that makes this Bissell Surface Sense Upright Vacuum, the best Bissell yet!Carollucy303

Bought this off the Bissell site thinking it was the best canister and that the design would nail what customers who actually vacuum need. This machine came promptly and is light weight, but has a smaller head and bagless chamber than the one I was replacing. Assembly was easy, yet directions were scant. After using it twice I realized the main handle and tube does not stand by itself, so if you need to move something in the course of vacuuming and take your hand off the main handle, rod and tube all come crashing down to the floor or hit something on the way down. You cannot store this machine with the handle standing, but must use a shabby slot on the back. Also the handle itself does not have an on/off button. Rather the user must push a button on the main part of the machine and not let go of the handle, as it will fall and hit whatever is in its path. Also, I have found that it's pretty difficult to open the bottom of the dustless container. So far, I've have to almost pry it open. These features are essential for the user/customer, but ignored in the design of this vacuum-Why?Bob in NM

I do not usually post reviews, but I am so angry that I decided that I must. This vac was purchased new from Canadian Tire one year ago and Bissell no longer can supply the foam and felt filters for the tank lid as I have been told that this vac has been discontinued. I have a house with wall to wall carpeting. This vac must be completely taken apart each time it is used and thoroughly washed. When the filters that came with this vac are no longer able to be used I will have to buy a new vac and it will not be a Bissell for sure. I think that a company as large as Bissell should continue to carry replacement filters and parts for their products for many years in the future. Just because you discontinue a product does not mean stores are not still selling it. You cannot expect to keep customers if you do not support your products.Gail

I have a golden retriever and bought this to replace my broken Kenmore canister vacuum. On hardwood it works ok but the area rug and front and carpets it's not good. You cannot adjust the beater brush height and on anything but a low pile it's not very good. I leave it on full power but that makes little difference. Takes 3 times as long as my old vacuum as you have to go over the area 5 or more times to pick up the dog hair stuck in the carpet and rug. The only reason I'm even keeping it is because emptying the canister is better then the bags I used to have to throw out. I am happy with its use on the hardwood and tile but very disappointed with it on carpet. I'd expect more for the price.Retriever owner

This Sirena has been a lemon since I purchased it and Sirena support and the repair department has been degrading and lets say their repair services minimal.
Thirty days after buying this reconditioned machine which I was reassured was certified and in good condition, broke the base the water goes in, then another base broke, I ordered two more and I bought two more one for backup. The new base broke in the first use. Called Sirena to be told the first time they aren’t under warranty, they sent me a new one being nice they said, which I agree was. Then when the next one broke I just bought my own, and when that one broke within first use I was mad which caused me to call them. They said I was being to rough and to loosen the screws. Then the matching wouldn’t work, I sent it in with the broken hose that had the band over the suction broke. They said it was my broken base that was the issue and I had to buy another one for them to determine if anything else was wrong with it. I had already bought another base so I said send it back. Getting it back the base was clearly broken in shipping but whatever I was so pissed with this company they didn’t fix my hose they glued the broken piece on now making it unusable on the curtains and on top of that the wheel rack is broken also and wasn’t broken when shipped to them.
On top of that they can’t tell me why my bases are breaking it’s my fault No one else has complained of this issue and maybe try running it less.
And of all wonderful things they aren’t under the BBB so I can’t even make a complaint so I lose out the money I spent because I can’t keep affording 50 dollar bases guess it’s time to go to rainbow and I will ensure I plaster it everywhere not to buy reconditioned products from this company ever.Heidi Hancock

I am beyond impressed with the Sirena vacuum. Liked the idea of a Rainbow, but not the price tag. Found this product, read up on it, and purchase from their website. Could not believe how much fresher and cleaner my house seemed with just the first use. I have 2 dogs, one being a great Pyrenees. So I have lots and lots of dog hair. My 2nd use, I did a deep clean floors, baseboards, blinds, couches and drapes. After that cleaning, I could not even believe how clean my house stayed after that all week. I have also used it as a air purifier a couple times. Definitely not a quick vacuum product. It takes some time to use, switching between the power unit for carpets, bare floor attachment, and various others. Then cleaning after use. But we'll worth the time for how fresh and clean my house is now.Lesli Ablett

I am not one to leave reviews but I feel this one is needed. I am completely unsatisfied with this product and I find it strange that the reviews on their website are only four and five stars. It seems as though they filter their reviews and only post the good ones 🤔 unfortunately their customer service sucks even more than the product. You have 30 days to return the product though they give a “satisfaction guarantee” but what they don’t tell you is you will NOT be able to contact them within those 30 days. I called the customer service phone number multiple times and continuously got voicemail, I sent messages through online chat that went unanswered and finally got in touch with them three months after my purchase to explain why I was unhappy for the ONE guy that runs the show to tell me that they have a very strict 30 day policy and “there is nothing he can do”Now about the product itself… if you are a pet home – DO NOT BUY. if you have carpet – DO NOT BUY. The carpet attachment is very difficult to attach and does a very poor job at actually vacuuming the carpet. The machine takes longer to set up than anything I’ve ever dealt with. The chore of vacuuming has become three times longer and this product is substantially more expensive then other vacuums that are more user-friendly and do a much better job of actually cleaning the carpet and floor. No matter how much solution you put in the water your air will still smell like wet dirt. The idea of a water vacuum is great but if you live on a septic system you can’t even dump it down the toilet. Cleaning the machine after use is a whole other issue, it is very difficult to clean and get all the dirt out also you have to leave it unattached so it can air out otherwise it smells terrible. It’s extremely bulky and take a lot of room to store. There are absolutely no instructions with this unit so your guess is how it supposed to be used. Unfortunately there is not one good thing I can say about this unit or it’s service from the company. If you’re adamant about buying a wet vac I recommend using a completely different companyJessica Morrell

Really like all the attachments, helps get the job done. Needed a soft brush that was safe for my hardwood floors Greenworks covered that. Love the LED lights make it easier to see the missed spots. Super happy with performance & ease of operation, no cord to drag around. I have carpet and a dog, and the suction is great! Battery life is impeccable I can do the whole house on a single charge or more. I also like how dumping the waste bin scrapes along the filter so you can truly get it all emptied out. I cannot recommend this enough! Added bonus, the 24V lithium-ion battery (also included) can be used as a power bank for charging compatible devices such as phones and tablets. The promise is great, but the delivery of that promise is marginal. I have now purchased multiple Greenworks tools – trimmer, blower, lawn mower, drill and driver – and based on that experience, expected greatness from this cordless stick vacuum. I did not get greatness, just a shade above mediocrity. The battery life is much less than desired. I bought it in the hopes of a 45 minute use per charge, as advertised, but getting anywhere near that means you must run it on its minimal power. More important, though, the service at Greenworks absolutely STINKS! I have tried 5 times to call them (they don't provide an email option) and have been on hold 45+ minutes each time, and finally gave up. If most of the products weren't so good on their own, I suspect this company would have long ago gone out of business. In summary – try their tools if you want to go it alone. I have had a Hoover Windtunnel since 2012 and love it. This vacuum is terrible. It has good suction but………When it is in the Upright position so you can use the attachments the roller brush does not shut off. It ruins your carpet! It actually was smelling like something was burning. I think the belt was slipping. Bad engineering to not have the roller brush shut off in the upright position. What kind of idiot would say yes to a design like this? Our Windtunnel shuts off in the upright position. Tried to call Hoover….was told they were closed on a Thursday, I Was told in a recording to go online which I did but chat said they were closed and to call them. PING PONG affect going on here. DUMB….. Then on Friday was on hold 2 hrs before it cut me off. Called back, pressed the prompt for a call back and never got one the entire day and still no call back. Today is Monday called again and again We are closed after going through all the prompts to wait for an agent. Went online to chat and actually got someone named Honey B who was a bit rude saying we are open, just busy. So there is a difference of being closed and saying busy hang on….. Then when I told about the problem we had I was told to talk to who makes our carpet. Pass the buck Hoover on poor engineering huh????. You should never have a vacuum that the brush spins and spins when it's in one place. This vacuum was made to use attachments so put the rollers into idle please while using them. You will wear out your carpet and wear out your vacuum belt. Hoover will try everything I'm sure to cover our damaged carpet….SO BUYER beware. FORGET this vacuum. Its junk. PLUS the dial to lift the vacuum head up really does nothing. It's a joke. And when emptying the canister, it fell off the hinges. Seriously, I will never recommend Hoover again. They have gone down hill..You do get what you pay for. And this one is best left on the shelf.Larry59

I grew up using Hoover products and have used them my entire adult life. I researched all brands/models before replacing our older Hoover. We decided on this vacuum due to having three cats and it's excellent reviews. The first time I vacuumed with it, I loved it. I actually still love it's vacuuming capabilities (after using it a month). The fault with this product lies in the fact that as soon as you turn on the vacuum, the brush turns at a very high speed (while vacuum is still in upright position) and the brush doesn't stop until you turn off the vacuum, regardless of floor setting or if you are using the upholstery/stair attachments. I've never had a vacuum like this before and being that it's specifically designed for pet owners, the fact that the brush turns when the upholstery attachments are in use baffles me. While trying to vacuum our couch the brush actually wore on our carpet and heated it to the point of melting after less than a minute. I tried manipulating the vacuum and leaning it back off the carpet while using the attachment but that is just way too much effort. We tried it on all floor settings including hard floor with the same results. Honestly, the brush shouldn't turn until the handle is released for vacuuming so I'm not exactly sure why it was made this way. I returned it thinking I had a faulty vacuum and exchanged it for the same model (it does vacuum really well), and the second vacuum did the same, so I must assume it's simply a design flaw. So if your pet's don't shed on furniture or stairs I recommend this model, otherwise It pains me to say that I don't recommend it.Cat mom of three

Well, it seems to do ok but there are some things that make me wonder why they were designed the way they were. The on switch should be up at the top of the handle instead of being a foot switch where the reclining lever used to be for something like 100 years of Hoover vacuums. To recline the handle now requires I reach around with my foot and step on the front of the machine while forcing the handle down. It's very awkward and silly to change a design that worked for a century. And the rug height adjustment is a little touchy. I set it around medium and started vacuuming a very low rug and didn't know the belt was slipping until I smelled rubber burning. Oops. Once I learned to dial the height properly the vacuum does a pretty good job of cleaning pet hair and dirt from carpet. I had been vacuuming with a shop vac and thought my rugs were fairly clean, but the Hoover with the spinning brushes managed to pull out a lot more dirt that I missed. Emptying the canister is straightforward. I take it outside and blow it with a leaf blower. I can't imagine getting it sufficiently clean any other way without using water. Overall it's a marvel of engineering that performs its job very well, but with a couple very obvious design blunders that renders it a bit awkward to use.Randal

This is an excellent purchase. It is lightweight which I love. I use this upstairs on my hardwood floors and small throw carpets. It sure beats having to lug my regular vacuum up and down 2 flights of steps! It has great suction on hardwood and carpet. Don't hesitate, it is a great buy.latt

I bought this to replace a 2-in-1 stick vacuum thats handle broke. I bought the Dirt Devil Express Lite because not only was it lightweight for me to handle, had a removable hands free dust buster, it also had a roller brush I can use for area rugs and gets in the edges of the carpet along the wall. The price was about the same as the one I had with less features, so it was a great value for the price. After putting it together I realized it also has another valuable feature. The filter is rubber and can be rinsed to get rid of dust. No nasty cioth filter that never gets clean and holds odors. I have respiratory condition and this will keep my house dust free! I am so excited to have such a powerful, yet lightweight sweeper. It will meet all my needs!Psmithny2

I work full time and run an animal rescue. I needed a strong vacuum for the intake room and had NO time to put something together. To my surprise the unit literally snapped together! It also has a button to turn the broom off which I LOVE (makes me wonder about those reviews that said the broom quit, it's not advertised on box only instruction guide). Also, those reviews that say it filled up fast..I believe it was designed for a small area and for that it works perfect! Thank you for making my life easier!Animal Lover

Vacuum worked in steaks so you have to run it over the same spot over and over to get the whole even just a small area. The pet hair attachment broke pretty quickly after purchase. The accordion tubing connecting the arm tore in multiple places, we had to tape it repeatedly to retain suction because it kept breaking in different places. We have two huskies and vacuum like 2-3 times a week so it’s not like we used it incessantly. The final straw was another broken spot in the tubing which then kept disconnecting from the handheld attachment. Overall, did not stand up to any normal wear and tear, not sustainable for the price. We only had it a year.kt

You will be amazed how much your previous vacuum has missed once you start using this wonder. We have two cats and three dogs-a golden retriever and border collie who are shed machines-and I seemed to be constantly chasing hair tumbleweeds. The first time I used the vacuum on my 9x7rug, I had to empty the canister twice. That would have been two bags with the last vacuum. Not only is our house now cleaner but our wallet a little fatter as we are not buying two boxes of bags a month. Plus the benefits for the upcoming spring allergy season. I love this vacuum.Catherine
