Best Vacuum For Dust Mite Allergies (2023 Update)

We bought this last April 2020 for $149 & don't regret paying more. I have allergies& my husband doesn't, but knowing that aLL insects lay eggs everywhere & that poop droppings are everywhere Yuck on furniture that can't go inside our washer or effectively sanitized, this is a healthy bLessing. We just bought 2 more for gifts for our 2son's families today at this wonderful TSV price, saving us $100 to help protect their health. Why would anyone not consider buying something that protects their health, just as we take a shower & brush or teeth, we wouldn't sleep on dirty sheets or sit on nasty furniture. When the Raycop arrived, I thought I'd be sending it back. Why? Because with four cats, I vacuum all my upholstered furniture with the Dyson every week and am not a fan of anything with a UV light. However, after going over my sectional and seeing what the Raycop picked up, I was impressed. The little filter was full of stuff that I assume was dust mites and their debris. I didn't read the part of the instructions that said to clean the dust filter, remove the clear dust box, submerge it in water, remove the dust filter under water so as not to release the debris back into the air. So when I took out the dry filter and began to clean it, I started with sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes. This thing absolutely picked up allergens like dust mites. I was sold. The safety features for the UV light calmed my fears about it because when the machine loses contact with the surface being cleaned, the light shuts off automatically. This little machine is now part of my cleaning routine. It takes a bit more time to use it than vacuuming but the results are well worth it.Wilhelmina

Who has time to hold this in one spot for 3 minutes to remove 90% dust particles? Even holding it in one spot for 10 seconds so the UV light is over a very small area, it would take hours just to clean a mattress surface. I used this once on my mattress pad, moving very slowly. All I got were tiny little fibers from the cloth. Nothing that looked like dust or tiny tiny remains of dust mites. I think this is a lot of hype that people are falling for (I did), but without a microscope, how does anyone really know if this is killing and pulling out dust mites from anything. Perhaps a good vacuum but not sure any better than a really good vac that you may already have. Now I must pay a small fortune to return this thing. My stupid mistake.mkmtd

There is no way to get the thin layer of dust off hardwood floors with any of the larger tools that come with the vacuum. The pet hair tool and dust brush do get it but they are small, and the wand must be held at awkward angles to get that floor dust. Emptying the bin is no problem, nor is cleaning it or the filters, except that the bin fills quickly and should probably be cleaned more often than I changed the bag on my last bagged upright. This means the suction for larger objects and dust bunnies was high. I cleaned the filters well but noticed there was still dirt or dust way up in the fan-like filter that I couldn’t clean out without unscrewing the plastic housing, and that was just the 2nd time using the vacuum. The main head doesn’t fit under the bed and certainly not the couch, and the wand is too short to reach. Would be great if there was a way to attach the main large head or foot to the wand to get under the bed and furniture, but there isn’t. The movement of lifting the hand-held upper unit is awkward, as is de and re-attaching the wand. The swivel Adobe the is clumsy and difficult to maneuver. I could get used to the bagless feature as it is more economical, but using the machine made me realize a canister would be better for my needs.M. R.

Just purchased after reading software several reviews, have bought a lot of c***** vacuums in the past passed but also grown up with Kirby's filter queens and other various expensive vacuums including Dyson most recently. Believing that there is an affordable vacuum that does a great job out there, I read that this vacuum has good suction and has some nice features including pet tools and Hepa features, Which I liked as an allergy sufferer. I have not had the vacuum along but my 1st impressions which give it 4 stars included impressive impressive, very impressive pretty impressive suction, Enough toChange the direction and fibers on an older carpet that have become relatively stiff and other vacuums I eat my old one wouldn't even budge on moving. So on this front I would say good job Bissell. Other features I liked included the lights which were LED and lit up everything in front of the vacuum really well the ease of detachment of the Accessories and canister which was relatively easy to empty and reinsert. The vacuum well slightly heavy does maneuver and corner very well the design is dynas obviously modern and following Dyson standards on that front. I have no comment on reliability as the vacuum is new but it could become 5 stars or drop to 3 from where I stand currently and based on its reliability.. From my short time at the vacuum I vacuum I don't believe the critical reviews on this site are accurate at all.Vicrom3

I bought this 6 months ago and tried to get used to it, but don’t like it at all. It is hard to push. I have it on the max setting and still harder to push on normal carpet. The attachments often fall off when in normal use. I had heard great things about simplicity, however, they had an older model. This newer one doesn’t compare. Unfortunately, iI am very unhappy with the user friendly aspect of it. I would not recommend.Jill

I have had this vacuum for about a year. I bought it because of the dog hair I contend with on a daily basis. It does an amazing job and the fact that it has a bag is a big plus. I always thought bagless was the way to go because of convenience, but this unit proves that thought was completely wrong. You won't be sorry if you buy this vacuum. Suction seems good but I have had this vacuum a week and it's driving me crazy bc I can't get the wand to stay in it's holder while I'm vacuuming .. if I bend to go under a desk or table the wand will fall out .. sure seems like this is a poor design… Why can't the wand fit more snug in it's holder so it doesn't fall out every 5 seconds? How much suction is it losing bc the fitting is soooo loose?? Surely I'm not the first person to have this issue?! Wish I could return this. 🙁PamC

I owned a Dyson for around 12 years, but when it quit, Shark was highly recommended. I chose this model because it claimed to be good for pet owners, like many other models of the brand. I have to say that I've never been more disappointed in a vacuum. Here are some of the things I noticed: First off, it's awkward in regards to weight distribution. The thing tips over incredibly easy. Second, the cord is much shorter than what I was used to with the Dyson, meaning it had to be unplugged and moved around a lot. Third, it has to be emptied a lot. It just doesn't hold much, and is a mess to empty. Lastly, it's narrow head means it's going to take twice as long to cover the area you're working on. The worst part about this vacuum is that I just bought it in January (@ $179), and my carpet looks just awful. Almost right after vacuuming, you can't tell it was ever done, so the lack of cleaning over time has really aged my carpet that wasn't very old to begin with. I know this brand gets compared to Dyson all the time, with claims of equal or superior performance, but the people who say this couldn't possibly have actually owned a Dyson. They are not equal in any way, shape, or form. It's not even been a year and I'm already looking to replace it. I fear if I don't, I'll have to replace my carpet at a much larger cost.Burgster

I was blown away when I first got this vacuum in September 2018, in fact I think I wrote a review. It picks up pet hair more than the Dyson and Oreck I’ve owned. The furniture attachment is amazing at removing fur! However, 14 months later and I ended up here looking for Black Friday / Cyber Monday vacuum sales because mine is falling apart. That actually started fairly soon after purchasing, but it did such a great job I ignored it. I did call QVC in January I think, about the carpet attachment not working and was told to call Shark directly, whom I never was able to get ahold of due to wait times, time zone difference etc. So 4 months after buying a new 200 vacuum I was using my old Oreck on the few carpeted/rug areas of my house and just using the new Shark to de-fur the furniture and the wand attachment. And even that is not fun because it tips over every 2 seconds. It still picks up nicely but the plastic inside the canister is breaking, the hose is worn out and I’m tired of having to us two vacuums. So while the performance of this vacuum was good, it’s cheaply made exterior makes it not worth the trouble.EBL47

I regret buying this vacuum and paid over $200 at Menards in Lansing Michigan. If I could sell it I would! The cord at the base of the vacuum is in the wrong place. I am constantly tripping over it even if I try to secure it in the handle. Cleaning out the plastic bin is a mess I have to now put on gloves with a damp paper towel to clean it properly. I have long hair which when cleaning my hair is wrapped around the roller that I have to cut out and pull to remove it. The attachment/hose on the vacuum is to tight I have to hold the base and vacuum with the attachment in the other hand to prevent it from falling on the floor or hitting my legs. I have had a Hoover Windtunnel since 2012 and love it. This vacuum is terrible. It has good suction but………When it is in the Upright position so you can use the attachments the roller brush does not shut off. It ruins your carpet! It actually was smelling like something was burning. I think the belt was slipping. Bad engineering to not have the roller brush shut off in the upright position. What kind of idiot would say yes to a design like this? Our Windtunnel shuts off in the upright position. Tried to call Hoover….was told they were closed on a Thursday, I Was told in a recording to go online which I did but chat said they were closed and to call them. PING PONG affect going on here. DUMB….. Then on Friday was on hold 2 hrs before it cut me off. Called back, pressed the prompt for a call back and never got one the entire day and still no call back. Today is Monday called again and again We are closed after going through all the prompts to wait for an agent. Went online to chat and actually got someone named Honey B who was a bit rude saying we are open, just busy. So there is a difference of being closed and saying busy hang on….. Then when I told about the problem we had I was told to talk to who makes our carpet. Pass the buck Hoover on poor engineering huh????. You should never have a vacuum that the brush spins and spins when it's in one place. This vacuum was made to use attachments so put the rollers into idle please while using them. You will wear out your carpet and wear out your vacuum belt. Hoover will try everything I'm sure to cover our damaged carpet….SO BUYER beware. FORGET this vacuum. Its junk. PLUS the dial to lift the vacuum head up really does nothing. It's a joke. And when emptying the canister, it fell off the hinges. Seriously, I will never recommend Hoover again. They have gone down hill..You do get what you pay for. And this one is best left on the shelf.Larry59

I grew up using Hoover products and have used them my entire adult life. I researched all brands/models before replacing our older Hoover. We decided on this vacuum due to having three cats and it's excellent reviews. The first time I vacuumed with it, I loved it. I actually still love it's vacuuming capabilities (after using it a month). The fault with this product lies in the fact that as soon as you turn on the vacuum, the brush turns at a very high speed (while vacuum is still in upright position) and the brush doesn't stop until you turn off the vacuum, regardless of floor setting or if you are using the upholstery/stair attachments. I've never had a vacuum like this before and being that it's specifically designed for pet owners, the fact that the brush turns when the upholstery attachments are in use baffles me. While trying to vacuum our couch the brush actually wore on our carpet and heated it to the point of melting after less than a minute. I tried manipulating the vacuum and leaning it back off the carpet while using the attachment but that is just way too much effort. We tried it on all floor settings including hard floor with the same results. Honestly, the brush shouldn't turn until the handle is released for vacuuming so I'm not exactly sure why it was made this way. I returned it thinking I had a faulty vacuum and exchanged it for the same model (it does vacuum really well), and the second vacuum did the same, so I must assume it's simply a design flaw. So if your pet's don't shed on furniture or stairs I recommend this model, otherwise It pains me to say that I don't recommend it.Cat mom of three

Well, it seems to do ok but there are some things that make me wonder why they were designed the way they were. The on switch should be up at the top of the handle instead of being a foot switch where the reclining lever used to be for something like 100 years of Hoover vacuums. To recline the handle now requires I reach around with my foot and step on the front of the machine while forcing the handle down. It's very awkward and silly to change a design that worked for a century. And the rug height adjustment is a little touchy. I set it around medium and started vacuuming a very low rug and didn't know the belt was slipping until I smelled rubber burning. Oops. Once I learned to dial the height properly the vacuum does a pretty good job of cleaning pet hair and dirt from carpet. I had been vacuuming with a shop vac and thought my rugs were fairly clean, but the Hoover with the spinning brushes managed to pull out a lot more dirt that I missed. Emptying the canister is straightforward. I take it outside and blow it with a leaf blower. I can't imagine getting it sufficiently clean any other way without using water. Overall it's a marvel of engineering that performs its job very well, but with a couple very obvious design blunders that renders it a bit awkward to use.Randal

I purchased this vacuum not even 2 years ago and have already had to call for a warranty. This thing overheats and when attempting to change the filter on the ball… not easy and the cost for new filters is not worth it. It’s almost 70 dollars for two new filters. I understand that clean filters are necessary but why are they so expensive? You can’t wash them like the old dysons because these are enclosed in plastic and would never dry.I have an old upright dyson that never gave me trouble like this one. So although this vacuum had great suction —-It gets so hot when I vaccum that I seriously worry that it is going to start a fire. I have to shut it down repeatedly and let it cool off. I contacted dyson today and I will say their customer service rep was great. I am now waiting for my shipping info to send Vaccum in for warranty work. It is a terrible inconvenience and now I am without a vacuum after purchasing what I thought would be the best. To make matters worse it has to be shipped and can not be repaired locally or so I was told. So disappointed ☹️ I would not purchase this vacuum again.JoyceG

I purchased this vacuum to replaced the thirteen year old Dyson DC17 that finally broke and I could no longer get replacement parts for it. After considerable use I can assure you that this vacuum will impress with it's capabilities. We have three dogs and two cats so pet hair is an issue. This vacuum easily outperformed the DC17 in the pet department picking up pet hair I didn't even know existed. Compared to the DC17 this vacuum is very quiet in use. About half the noise compared to my old vacuum. The collection bin is considerably smaller compared to my old Dyson and requires more frequent emptying but that isn't a big deal. This vacuum comes with a nice assortment of tools but what it doesn't include is the $50 hard surface floor tool. Our home is mostly hardwood and tile downstairs with the exception of the master bedroom so the floor tool was a must. Dyson should include this considering the cost of the vacuum! The other issue is that it is an outright lie to advertise this vacuum as "no filter maintenance" required. Not true! The vacuum has HEPA filters that will need to be replaced about once a year to keep the performance of the vacuum like new. Instead it should be advertised as no pre-filter maintenance required. Overall I would recommend this vacuum. The price is steep but in the end you do get what you pay for in performance. As I said, don't advertise as no filter maintenance when you have to replace filters and for the price Dyson needs to step up and include the hard surface floor tool instead of making it an accessory!budbrande

I've had this vacuum for a while now, it was gifted to us as a wedding gift. The suction is great and the cord is long, however, there are two inconveniences that drive me nuts. #1 it will not pick up any of my cats food as the pieces are "too big"… for this vacuum at least. Our last vacuum we were able to actually raise and lower the deck of the vacuum for different depths of flooring/carpet which was nice because it would suck up the cat food – however the suction on that vacuum was nowhere near as good as the dyson. My 2nd gripe is that if you want to just use the hose you have to undo the ENTIRE cord because of the way its mounted. So, sometimes I just want to get in-between a crevice real quick and have to undo the cord just to wrap it all back up again. Overall great vacuum, it's super easy to take apart and clean too.Rye1031

This hand vac made my cleaning days a breeze with an unexpected benefit. We bought it because of the great reviews as a hand held vacuum to take along in the 5th wheel while on vacation. It turns out it's the perfect fit for our 4 sets of stairs! When I contacted eufy customer support, they told me that there is no rechargeable battery at the moment and I need to wait. The box looks stylish and technological. I had seen the good reviews about this vacuum and finally ordered it when we moved: our new house had a mix of thick carpet, linoleum, and wood floors and my old vacuum wasn't going to cut it.Best of all – it's really pretty quiet! It seriously feels like a toy since it's such a fun little hard worker. Yes, some things could be better. The cord wrap is a bit awkward. The hook that keeps the cord off the ground is too wide and the cord falls out. But those are minor pains compared to how awesome this vacuum is. I have had this vacuum for 15 years, suction is great and never had to replace any filters. I just wash them out once every 2 -3 months, even wash out the canister, the only thing I have done to this vacuum is repeatedly cut hair off the rollers since everyone in my household has long hair except me. I finally am going to purchase new sponge and HEPA filters, the old filters are getting a little rough. This vacuum still works great and we still keep using. Totally worth the price. I’ve used MANY vacuums in my life. I’ve used Eureka, Kirby, Bissell, Oreck, Hoover, and several others. This is by far the BEST vacuum. The attachments make sense and are very practical. The vacuum pulls lots of dirt out of the carpet that other vacuums cannot do. I vacuumed my carpet with a Bissell. Afterwards, I vacuumed again with my Shark, the Shark continued to pull lots of dust out of the carpet. I am amazed at the quality. Considering the quality, the price is good!kasi.s

Just bought this Shark "Purple" Navigator vac on the recommendation of a friend who has one. First let me say I have owned at least a dozen vacs in my life including models from Hoover, Oreck, Pnansonic, Electrolux and a couple of industrial strength shop vacs. This one blows them all out of the ring. I have hardwood floors with large area rugs, mostly wool or synthetic Oriental and Arts and Crafts patterns. Despite the fact that I have regularly vacuumed them with my previous (and clearly wimpy) vacs, when I used this Navigator today I was completely shocked at how much dirt, pet fur, human hair and lint it pulled out of them. After one pass in my master bedroom the large dust cup was packed solid and I had to empty it. Same thing when I did the other bedroom and the 4 downstairs rooms. I completely filled a box the size of a footstool with the clumps of nasty grey fluzz the Navigator pulled deep out of the carpets. And it even pulled up the nap so they look fluffier. It's amazing how clean they look, like I just shampooed them! I feel like I have all new rugs though several of these are over 20 years old. Seriously, buy this vac, it's an excellent value. Do read all the instructions, though, because you need to know how to release all the latches and adjust the suction. The maximum suction is so high you may have to turn it down a little or it will literally pull lighter rugs up into the roller. Easy to adjust, this twist a ring around the handle. Got this today, was a breeze to assemble and get going. Picks up a lot of dirt and hair quickly, I like the no tangle bush as we have a longer hair dog, and my wife and daughter both have long hair which used to have to be cut from the beater bar of our old vac on a regular basis. This one has 3 filters so good for allergies, and the dual brushes which did very well on carpet and hardwood, getting a lot of the dust on the wood floor the old one couldnt get.Only a few things to note, the bin is a bit small and had to be dumped a lot because of pet hair, 3 times on our main living room. It is not the lightest vacuum but about the same as our old one. I wish it came with a cleaning brush head separate order… and had room on board for all the attachments instead of just 2. The head is low profile and fits places our old one would not, and it turns very well. Will see how well it holds up as the Dyson 07 it is replacing lasted us for 20 years and did a good job consistently. Just didnt want to pay top dollar for a Dyson again.3 months later and the vacuum is still doing a great job. We have not had any problems with hair wrap on the brush bar with our golden retrievers fur. Still have to dump the bin a lot with pet fur. Still miss that there was no standard brush attachment, but came with basically two upholstery brushes one powered, one not. About to order the standard long bristle cleaning brush so I can clean the air return and vents, be nice if the sizes were standard so I could just use the old ones from other vacuums. Another quick update, trying to find accessories like the dusting brush has been difficult. Shark does not carry one on their website, even though the owners manual says they do, and cant or wont tell you the dimensions needed. If youre looking for great suction, easy to clean dust bin and lights…then get this. However, if you have a bad back or arthritis, you may want to pass on this vacuum. I vacuum every day and will definitely get a work out while using this. But….I love the way it cleans and Im thinking the weight, sturdiness of this vacuum may make it last longer? When using the extension wand, the brush rollers stop, I know thats important for some. I do not use the lift-away feature, so I cant comment on that. So, love the vacuum and would recommend if you dont mind it being on the heavy side.Lisa

This is a beautiful machine. I ordered this one, hoping for much. It hasn't disappointed. Pros : * There was no dust kickback upon powering on. * This machine has two motors; one drives the brush roll head, the other powers the suction. * It's a motor-driven projecting upright *Allergy seal *Headlight * The suction is 10/10. I was worried about stability issues with this 14 lbs vacuum, but found the concern was unmerited. The swivel makes it even easier to navigate on carpet. It's completely sturdy when it stands up in locked position, too. *Unique dark torquoise color Cons: * Only one attachment can be carried on your vacuum. I leave the spare in the no-carpet room. * The crevice tool has air leaks where the tool slides into another one when flipped. This tool is a joke for that reason alone. * The floor levels can't be adjusted in a traditional way, by twisting a knob to the left/right. Instead the hose has a twist feature positive ( ) for increasing suction on bare floors twist the hose toward the negative (-) for reducing suction on carpets. It's different, but not so bad as I can tell so far. After much searching and research, this vac is quite a find! I would buy another one of these vacs if I got a two-story place. Just opened the box and started using it. So far found suction power to be adequate but during vacuuming on carpeted stairs I found few flaws annoying me. Firstly this vacuum is too heavy on wrists for working on stairs and secondly the suction pipe came out from the vacuum head during vacuuming the stairs. I mean why would they have this design which have no use whatsoever to unplug the pipe from the vacuum head. I’m gonna use it couple of times to see if it happens again and then I’ll decide if I want to keep it because I don’t want to go through it again and again during vacuuming if it keep coming out. I wonder if someone else had the same issue.Naz

Within 10 minutes of opening the box I knew I had a five-star product. It is incredibly well made and definitely works better than any other vacuum I own. Originally I thought I would use this on the carpeted floors upstairs but instead I have been using it on both the carpet and the hardwood. on the hardwood you can tell that there is a very strong suction to the floor and it rolls very easily with a great swivel head mechanism. The most amazing part of this vacuum though is what it does on the carpets. After cleaning my house with my regular, very well known purple vacuum I decided I would go over the very same floor with this. What was left behind is disgusting. I had really thought that our expensive vacuum was getting the cat hair out of the carpet. After one week of using this vacuum it is clear to me that this product blows its competitors out of the water. It is lightweight and yet the suction is incredible. I am like many consumers- I study the reviews left from others who felt compelled to write a review (either bcuz the product is garbage and they feel like they should be neighborly and warn others- or, bcuz they are thoroughly impressed by their experience using the product that they want to reassure others that this particular product does not disappoint. I am writing the first review I’ve ever felt compelled to write bcuz of how impressed I am with this model of the Shark Navigator. I’ve lived in the same house for 14 years- every room but the kitchen and bathrooms are carpeted.. 2 kids, a dog, crappy vacuum after crappy vacuum and you can imagine the dust/dirt that has been sitting at the bottom of the carpet due to past vacuums not performing well. I just bought a Hoover vacuum with great reviews during prime days a couple weeks ago- that vacuum was a huge improvement from the last however many but, it’s canister and filter design is not good. After getting my new Shark navigator today, I was ridiculously excited to vacuum (I really need to get out more, ha!). After a few passes in my living room, the very spacious canister had so much dog fur and dirt in it, I wanted to get sick- how could my carpets be THAT bad? I vacuum every other day and use my carpet shampooer at least every 3 weeks! This vacuum has excellent suction, excellent design and is most definitely my happily ever after… as far as vacuums go!SuzTay

I just received my Shark Navigator Swivel Pro Complete and am very satisfied. It has great suction on carpets and hard flooring. It was easy to assemble and is very lightweight. The handle on the canister makes it easy to carry, especially up and down stairs. My only issue was with the Pet Power Brush attachment. I found that if you hold it level on furniture, the brush stops turning. It was easily fixed by angling the attachment just off the surface of the furniture. Also, I wish there was a tool storage post for the Pet Power Brush. I use it more than the crevice tool, but it won't fit on the storage posts currently on the vacuum.beagler

There is no way to get the thin layer of dust off hardwood floors with any of the larger tools that come with the vacuum. The pet hair tool and dust brush do get it but they are small, and the wand must be held at awkward angles to get that floor dust. Emptying the bin is no problem, nor is cleaning it or the filters, except that the bin fills quickly and should probably be cleaned more often than I changed the bag on my last bagged upright. This means the suction for larger objects and dust bunnies was high. I cleaned the filters well but noticed there was still dirt or dust way up in the fan-like filter that I couldn’t clean out without unscrewing the plastic housing, and that was just the 2nd time using the vacuum. The main head doesn’t fit under the bed and certainly not the couch, and the wand is too short to reach. Would be great if there was a way to attach the main large head or foot to the wand to get under the bed and furniture, but there isn’t. The movement of lifting the hand-held upper unit is awkward, as is de and re-attaching the wand. The swivel Adobe the is clumsy and difficult to maneuver. I could get used to the bagless feature as it is more economical, but using the machine made me realize a canister would be better for my needs.M. R.

Just purchased after reading software several reviews, have bought a lot of c***** vacuums in the past passed but also grown up with Kirby's filter queens and other various expensive vacuums including Dyson most recently. Believing that there is an affordable vacuum that does a great job out there, I read that this vacuum has good suction and has some nice features including pet tools and Hepa features, Which I liked as an allergy sufferer. I have not had the vacuum along but my 1st impressions which give it 4 stars included impressive impressive, very impressive pretty impressive suction, Enough toChange the direction and fibers on an older carpet that have become relatively stiff and other vacuums I eat my old one wouldn't even budge on moving. So on this front I would say good job Bissell. Other features I liked included the lights which were LED and lit up everything in front of the vacuum really well the ease of detachment of the Accessories and canister which was relatively easy to empty and reinsert. The vacuum well slightly heavy does maneuver and corner very well the design is dynas obviously modern and following Dyson standards on that front. I have no comment on reliability as the vacuum is new but it could become 5 stars or drop to 3 from where I stand currently and based on its reliability.. From my short time at the vacuum I vacuum I don't believe the critical reviews on this site are accurate at all.Vicrom3

Not sure yet how to rate this vacuum. I recently bought this model as a replacement for model nv681. I like the features of the Shark vacuum, but it didn't last the full 5 years. It began literally falling apart after about 4 and one half years. The brush roller is literally hanging on by a thread. I hope the new one holds up better and longer that my first one, and performs at least as well as the first model. Also the customer service for Shark needs much improvement. When I called to get some answers, I got a major run around. There is no one to talk to when trying to get answers about problems. I would recommend this vacuum with reservations.Rita

I am a vacuuming obsessed weirdo! I just love to vacuum for some reason. I love the before and after and love the feeling of having a nice clean floor. That being said I tried out all kinds of other vacuums while never really finding one that was great until I bought this vacuum. It's got everything I wanted in a vacuum! I should have known to stick with Shark because I have an old lift away professional that I've had for well over 10 years!. It's even still going strong after all the abuse I've put it through but it's just time for a new one. Only reason I tried switching brands is because the upright sharks are quite heavy and I now have stairs in my place that are hard to clean witha a heavy uptight.. After multiple failures with other popular brands I found this one that converts into a canister vac making it much lighter to use on stairs. I'm in love with this thing. It works so well and it's super powerful with all the bells and whistles that I could ask for. The LED lighting on the pull out wand is a huge plus! Lights up anything I'm trying to vacuum. I vacuumed my bedroom soon as I got it right after vacuuming with a popular Eureka that I had previously bought and it was amazing what this vacuum picked up that was left behind by the Eureka. We bought this 3 years ago and the hose split along the ridges. We use it less then the recommended cleaning regimen that carpet manufacturers recommend (daily). Shark claims it's not under the 7 year warranty because we sweep to much.

If your product can't hold up to reasonable use then it's worthless and I'm taking my business elsewhere.

I also find all the nooks and crannies this vacuum has hard to keep clean (canister, wand attachment for furniture top guard thing)

This vacuum is horrible. I thought I would like it after reading the reviews but it is extremely heavy. It doesn't maneuver.. When you try to go underneath a chair because of the weight of the tof the top of the vacuum the bottom part does not remain flat as it will not touch the carpet. The hose is not it's not great either. Very stiff. I wish I was able to return it but it was purchased during covid and target wouldn't let you return home goods.Dee9435

We have had many brands of vacuums before. None were as well designed and solid as the Prolux 9000. It is quiet yet has great suction. We have oriental carpets. After one vacuuming with our Prolux we could visibly see how much cleaner they were. Attachments are wonderful and store securely in the vacuum. First let me start by saying I had never even heard of Prolux before. Doing online research though in search of a new reliable vacuum that is upright and has a bag, my husband actually found your company. I love the vacuum! Unlike other uprights I have owned, it came completely assemble except for the handle, which was a breeze to attach. I will admit I was concerned for the weight of the machine, but I swear this vacuum is self-propelled, or at least it seems like it is. Very easy to push on thick carpet and I love that all I have to do is press a button with my foot to change to hardwood flooring in my kitchen. I love that all the attachments are conveniently stored on-board. Very easy to change from upright to using the attachments. The only thing I'm not sure about is the lever on the back of the nozzle to adjust the suction power. Not really crazy about it but it's definitely not a deal breaker for me. And, it's relatively quiet compared to my old 12 amp vacuum. I love this vacuum and would not hesitate to recommend it to my friends.Mindylu

I bought this to replace our old Dyson V6 Animal Cordless. I read many reviews videos for research. I had a Shark Navigator Pro before and I know Shark makes a good vacuum, so I was excited to try this. It seemed great. It went together easily and the crevice tool did well between the couch cushions and around the edges of the house. I liked the flexible arm that let the vacuum bend to get really far under furniture like my tables and sideboards. It was easy to empty the canister and easy to use. After using the vacuum about 30 minutes, a clog developed in the first joint where dirt from the head goes into the tube to take it up to the canister. This clog (half of which is pictured) was so big it extended from the opening of the vacuum suction hole on the bottom of the head, all the way up to where the head attached to the main long arm. After looking into the vacuum head's mechanics, I found that there are three "lock screws" on the underneath that allow you to take off the bottom guard piece to access the suction tube, which means Shark knew this was a problem and they "fixed" it by giving the consumer more work. I was able to use a cat wand toy to shove through the bottom to push the clog out the other side. This mess pictured on my couch was the result. As someone who has severe dust and environmental allergies, I don't exactly want to play with clogs of my allergens in order to get my vacuum running. I also have a large house, two long haired Siberian cats, four teenagers, and a job. The LAST THING I have time for is housework and messing around with crappy vacuums. For the price point, I'd expect this vacuum to actually work properly, and not take a ton of work to use it. The entire thing felt wobbly when fully connected and used to vacuum floors, so I didn't see the expected excellent quality of materials or workmanship for the price point either. Furthermore, as several reviewers stated the vacuum did shock me multiple times with static electricity buildup, which was annoying. Another con to this vacuum is that when I was vacuuming my couch where the cats lay, it wouldn't pick up all the cat fur regardless of how many passes I made. The suction just wasn't powerful enough, or maybe the static buildup offset the suction, gluing the cat hair to the couch in dreadlocked strands. Besides all this, the vacuum was very heavy and bulky. This thing will be going back tomorrow, and I'll be placing my order for the Dyson V11 Animal. I'd rather pay twice as much and know for a fact that my vacuum will work when I need it to, how I need it to. Save yourself the headache and don't get this Shark Vertex Cordless vacuum.MandieSue76

I purchased the Shark Vertex Cordless Stick Vacuum to use primarily to clean the floor near and around my bird cage. Every morning I let my parrot out of her cage, where she sits on the Playtop, and also on a perch mounted outside the cage. She creates quite a mess because seeds drop onto the floor, and some feathers. Getting my corded vacuum out just to cleanup around her cage was a bit of work, so I decided that a cordless vacuum would be the perfect solution. What I love about this vacuum is that it folds down for easy storage, and I can fit it in the room close by the cage. It's very easy to operate, and easy to empty the dust cup. The swivel powerhead with lights works great. It comes with several attachment tools, however, when you remove the power head to use the attachments, the suction power is not as strong. For my use, having this cordless vacuum is still the perfect solution, but I will still be using my corded vacuum for whole house cleaning.DianaNaples

I bought the Shark because I have a corded one downstairs. I needed a vacuum upstairs for my 2 floors, that was light weight and can maneuver pretty well. First off I want to say the "Shark" name is good. This cordless vacuum does not do well with pets. I have 8 cats and cat sand everywhere, the only thing it does is spit the sand out from the back, Has a very difficult time picking up fur as well. You know when you see a piece of fur and the vacuum front just has to go near it to suck it up. This vacuum does not, It just makes it tumble farther. Good for light clean ups but for every week vacuuming, I strongly recommended getting the corded one. It was more power for suction and spot clean ups if you spill rice or oats on floor. To bad because for the price you think it would be worth it. This vacuum is now on our 1st floor where there is very little traffic and pets. Perfect for a formal dinning room or front room that no ones goes in and you need a quick spruce up. Also if you have cats and cat sand, clean filter ever ytime you use it, the dust seems to bog down the performance as well.jsepulvida

After a short time of use, I was left slightly unimpressed by this vacuum. I own a similar vacuum by a different manufacturer and there are many features it has, that I wish this Samsung Jet vacuum had, such as a telescoping wand, a spare battery, a stand-alone charging stand, and a bottom emptying dust canister. What I loved the most about this vacuum was how extremely lightweight it is, the suction power, and the low profile vacuum head. I was very disappointed with the battery life of this vacuum, and I also found the pet hair tool (mini motorized tool) to be a mostly useless, battery draining tool. The low profile vacuum head and its powerful suction makes for an excellent vacuum on non-carpeted floors and it picks up pet hair really well. Unfortunately, the tiny wheels on the vacuum head made it difficult to vacuum carpet, which is disappointing for my household since it's a mixture of hardwood and carpet. (It just didn’t glide smoothly across carpet, especially at the higher suction settings.) Additionally, while the low profile vacuum head allows for vacuuming of tight spaces, it really limits the debris size that can be vacuumed up. There are three power levels to vacuum at, low, mid, and max. The mid level does ok but I definitely preferred running the vacuum on the max setting. Unfortunately running at the max significantly reduced the runtime of the vacuum to about 7 minutes, and with only one battery included, this means you're out of luck until it recharges. I did like using the vacuum to reach high spots around the house that tend to collect dust and cobwebs. The light weight of the vacuum and the extension crevice tool made it easy to get to those hard to reach areas without having to pull out a step stool. This is where the lightness of the vacuum really shined, as I was able to go around the entire house vacuuming corners and vents without my arm ever getting tired from holding the vacuum up in the air. Overall, after several days of use, I feel that the performance of this vacuum is just ok / average, especially compared to others on the market. There is definitely room for improvement. The Samsung Jet 60 Pet Cordless Stick Vacuum is really lightweight and easy to use with only one hand. It comes with lots of accessories making it very versatile. All of the attachments have a button-click system making it very easy to attach or unattach the different accessories on the fly, so there’s no delay in your cleaning. The vacuum has adjustable suction power and decent suction even on lowest setting, but has even more power when you need it. This vacuum is absolutely great for cleaning those hard to reach places both high and low such as corners, under furniture, air vents, ceiling fans, and window blinds. The Jet 60 is convenient for vacuuming your car. For me, the greatest application for the Jet 60 is vacuuming the stairs. Not having to drag a full sized vacuum up and down the stairs is very nice. The product package states that the battery lasts up to 40 minutes. But when I use it on lowest power setting, I get about 24 minutes before the battery gives out. On full suction power, I only get around 6 minutes of charge. The battery charges quite slowly. After a small job of just a few minutes it takes around half an hour to recharge fully and after a job that depletes the battery completely it takes several hours to recharge fully. This means that it’s really not useful for a whole house cleaning, for that you probably need a corded vacuum. But if you had a small apartment or dorm room it might work fine. Otherwise, it’s mainly useful for spot cleaning and small cleanup jobs like vacuuming the stairs or your car. The dust collection bin is a reasonable size given the battery life, you are likely to run down the battery before the bin is full. The bin consists of 3 parts, one of which is a HEPA filter, and is easy to detach, empty, and clean by rinsing with water. There is a jet of air that comes out of both sides of the vacuum. I mention it because I have experienced these jets blowing dust up into the air while cleaning in especially dusty areas or when vacuuming near loose papers, like on a desk, the papers can get blown around. Overall, the Samsun Jet 60 works quite well, but my biggest complaint is the lack of battery life. I’ve owned other cordless vacuums and getting around 24 minutes of charge time is actually pretty good in comparison.Mkru

Samsung really knocked it out of the park with this little guy. Between my wife and I, we actually enjoy vacuuming. We've even had competitions to see who can clean the most before the battery runs down! It's substantially more than I expected for the size of the battery, you can get a few rooms lightly soiled carpeted rooms in! Not just using it at the lowest speed either! (I'm not sure where Samsung gets the "up to 40mins" number, but I think you'd have to be not using any powered attachments, and at the lowest setting to get close to that, caveat aside, it lasts enough for a quick clean on an average house floor or more!) I also was not expecting it would actually pick up much more than an older hand vacuum that happens to have a long wand/sweeper attachment. It actually functions as a "main" vacuum if you're a frequent cleaner, as it handles deeper messes in a carpet that I was not expecting it to even come close to pulling up all the way. (dog and people hair plus some tracked in dirt/sand that was stepped in, took a few passes, but still managed) It's also not excessively loud, my infant daughter is most intrigued by it and watches us intently, whereas she was frightened/we had to put some hearing protecting on her if we wanted to use our "big" corded vacuum. The ONLY downside I have to this vacuum is the charging/mounting unit, which is why I gave it 4/5 instead of 5/5. Some folks do not want to mount a vacuum and just want it hidden in a closet until use, with a battery charger in the corner maybe out of the way. (The charger mount is a neat idea IF you plan on mounting, since you can charge the battery by itself or leave it in the vacuum and charge through the vacuum without removing the battery)GlennT
