Best Vacuum For Long Hair Carpet (2026 Update)

Out of the box, the vacuum was great. Sucked up everything. Within a month, it was basically a glorified hand vacuum. The only way I can get it to do anything is to use remove the hose and the attachments. The actual suction when using it upright is terrible. It vibrates like a dolphining F1 race car, makes a hideous popping and hissing sound from the side, and worst of all, leaves fuzz, dirt , and giant hard balls of lint all over my floors rather than actually cleaning them. Using this vacuum is more work than simply using a broom and a hand held dirt Devil. Customer service was helpful in trying to fix the issues but the suggested solve didn't work. The vacuum is a lemon…complete waste of the time and money spent.Card Lady

It does quality performing for pet hair to include the turbo extension tool for upholstery. DO READ ALL the instructions so you know how to properly use it. Don't assume! The tools are ill placed with the placement and storage of the electrical cord (always falling off). The telescope for the hose to attachments doesn't lock properly and always ALWAYS pushing back in. I don't have an issue with pet hair on the roller getting stuck, but I do with human hair and any amount of length to trash. The spot where the hose connects to the canister is constantly getting clogged because it is small and narrow, needs to be wider. Pay CLOSE attention when taking the filter out of the canister and putting it back; there is a reason it is meticulously marked. The alignment must be perfect or it won't go back together properly; this is the same for everything on the vacuum. Hard to push when vacuuming (hence one of the reasons I said to read instructions carefully)? You have to provide some air to release the amount of suction, so it moves easier with the little knob on the left; by the way, it moves also on its own.feltermail

Within 1 minute of its' first use this model #2475 Pet Hair Eraser Turbo had its' brush roll stop spinning before a small 10×10 foot area was complete. The belt assembly is centre mounted so debris from both sides of the brush roll collects towards its' centralized belt motor which sits open with nothing to protect it from debris. This results in it being the furthest thing from the "tangle free" unit it is advertised as. Removal of the head screws holding the bottom cover in place is quite easy so I was able to see what was causing the jam (see picture attached). The manufacturer claims the unit can accept hair length of 4-8 inches. The longest of the hairs in this pictures is 3 inches, so the job in question should have been well within the manufacturer's guidelines. Upon reassembling the base the unit promptly got jammed a second time. After once again removing the clog I decided to give it a different task, cleaning hardwood. This unit has a key feature for those with hardwood floors, its' brush can turn on/off, saving your hardwood from being scratched by the roller. Sadly there is very little suction (see video attached). I found without the brush roll spinning the machine picks up essentially nothing. The last major feature this unit is its' heavily marked "pet hair eraser" attachments. The Pet Turbo Eraser" is nothing more than the same "turbo brush" or "handi-mate" that has been commonplace on vacuum's since the 1950's. The "two in one" pet brush is a traditional fabric brush as is the crevice tool. There is nothing fundamentally different with these attachments than what is industry standard from most vacuum suppliers. I've had Bissell units before, the last being the significantly cheaper "Clearview Alergen Lift-Off Pet Upright Vaccuum." It lasted 2 years before dying a few weeks after its warranty expired precipitating the purchase of this Turbo model. All in all a poor vacuum. Don't buy this.Jimmy

For a long time I was considering returning this vacuum. The only reason I haven't is because it works well enough and I don't have the time to go vacuum hunting. It's an okay vacuum but it is literally just okay. The suction is good but after a little while the vacuum becomes hard to push. It does pick up a lot of dirt, dust and hair though. The hose suction is terrible and practically nonexistent. I used the hose to vacuum up a spider which, with my old vacuum, would have killed it. But this vacuum didn't kill it and it somehow escaped (I got it the next day with a shoe but really, it's that easy for them to escape??). Also the attachments will not stay on the vacuum AT ALL so I have to keep them in a bag. The cord is long, but too long. Even if you leave it wound, it often falls off the hooks while vacuuming and gets in the way.JustAGirlFromSomeplace

This vacuum was purchased by my household less about 10 months ago and it's already broken. I have used it almost daily, so it's gotten a lot of use. Worked great at first, but had to replace belts at least once a month because they kept breaking. I was using the vacuum at the correct setting for carpet height, however it kept switching to bare floor mode by itself. I wasn't sure how that was happening. Also, the top part of the handle cracked in half, which I believe is due to design flaw. When you are pushing the vacuum, this seemed to be the point that would bear the most weight and it's the thinnest part of the handle. It's good if you are in need of a vacuum on a budget, but don't expect it to last long.kristywink

Seriously, this thing is epic. Still mostly plastic on the exteripr, but, unlike cheaper vacuums, this has a but of quality and detail to it. The quality of plastics is higher, the quality of molds and designing are better too. This thing is no louder than any other vacuum I have ever owned, with the brush ruler off. But, turn that on (it can be disengaged on the fly with a foot pedal fit quick switching between carpet and hardwood floors – nice), and it is rather loud. You definitely know those brushes are spinning. I am fine with that, but some may be snowflakes about noise (or have sleeping babies – I understand not wanting THIS vacuum if you have a baby and relish a little nap time). If you aren't whisper-thirsty… THIS Vacuum will suck the ghosts out of a haunted carpet. I literally only have two rooms with carpet and a hallway, yet this sucker nearly filled its canister on the FIRST use! Seriously, I pulled up enough dirt, dust, sand dander, and dog fur that I ended up with about two pounds of filth to dump once I was done (and I only vacuumed the master bedroom and hall!!!). If you can get this vacuum for……. under $150, grab it! Easy to assemble, easy to use, very sturdy, very VERY well made for the price I bought mine at, and DOES A DAMN GOOD JOB. Shark Rocket Pro Corded Stick Vacuum is light weight & really easy to remove the canister from the stick stick. Glides nicely over our entire house which has mostly wood floors and tile, but did well on multiple rugs with different pile heights. It even comes with attachments to clean the stairs, furniture or our SUV & truck. We had a different cordless one but needed a vacuum we didn’t have to worry about running out of battery 1/2 way through our home. The cord is super long so that helps us from having to re-plug every few feet. The dust compartment is simple to empty and clean out with a press of a button. We have 2 dogs and 4 kids so we’re constantly vacuuming, the power is awesome and it’s convenient to easily unload the debris. It’s lightweight too, so it’s easy for me to move around the house without it being a hassle. There is a little downside to it, which is that it doesn’t stand on its own, so you’ll have to either prop it on something or fold it (which is easy) in order to do something else if needed while vacuuming. So I’m taking it down a star for that since I do have to stop and pick up toys etc having kids & pets constantly playing.Heathermthomas

The Shark Rocket Pro, picks up VERY well. The area I first vacuumed with it, was a area that had been vacuumed the day before. Within five minutes, the Shark had picked up A LOT more. The vacuum was easy to assemble and the attachment comes apart easily to be able to vacuum the ceiling and other had to get to areas. The Shark glides across any floor easily and turns easily. The only drawback I found with this Shark machine was the motor was near the top of the handle and it made the machine top heavy. It doesn’t stand on it’s own. There are two small attachments that didn’t have anywhere to attach to the machine, that I could find. But, as well as this machine works, I find these to be minor problems. As you can see from the photo, it picked up quite a bit after only a five minute vacuum. I have animals and cleaning hair has always been a problem.adcatex6

This Shark Rocket Pro Corded Stick Vacuum works GREAT ! I really like how light weight it is, I can very easily maneuver it around the house with little effort and let me say how GREAT it picks up all the dirt and debris from my floors. My carpets are much cleaner/fluffy and my hardwood floors are cleaned better than when I sweep. I am very excited and satisfied at how much debris/hair/dust/dirt was in the debris container. This vacuum has PLENTY of attachments that I can use on my stairs and I'll even be cleaning my curtains and window seals. As small as this vacuum is, is does the job QUICKLY and very EFFECTIVELY, much much better than my current canister vacuum. This Shark Rocket Pro Corded Stick Vacuum is much quieter and very stronger in terms of suction than ANY vacuum I've ever owned. I went from 45 minutes of vacuuming to 15 minutes, WHAT A GREAT IMPROVEMENT ! Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend the Shark Rocket Pro Corded Stick Vacuum if you want clean floors with little effort AND multiple attachments that can simplify and clean the most hard to reach places and other areas.liljayp

We purchased the Shark corded stick model at Target a few years ago. At first it was great, and I recommend it for smaller houses or apartments since it's lightweight and small. It's powerful for its size. But it's not super durable. From what I've read, Shark doesn't make many replacement parts and there aren't many opportunities to repair their products. After about 2 years, several important parts were broken, including the hinge holding the dust cup together. We've been using packing tape to hold together the dust cup, and we have to cut off the tape to empty it and then re-tape it shut every time. Also the main little interior hose at the bottom that connects the head to the stick cracked wide open. The brush gets wrapped with long hair easily. The suction is pretty bad now, probably because of all these issues. Overall pros: It's great on wood floors, good on rugs, and works well while it lasts. Lightweight and easy to maneuver and carry up stairs. I like the attachments and they're easy to use. Long cord. Bagless is more environmentally friendly, although it's best to empty it into a plastic bag anyways. It's a good deal when it's on sale for $100. Overall cons: Doesn't stand up on its own. Cheaply made. The dust bin is really small. It's a hassle to empty the dust bin because you have to unplug the whole vacuum and carry the entire cord out to the trash can with you to empty the cup. Also, bagless vacuums just seem dirtier to me since the dust and hair isn't actually contained. It's always gross emptying it and trying to avoid the cloud of crap flying up at you. It is amazing honestly. We vacuumed our carpets with our old Shark right before we went to Target to look for a new one. We came home and vacuumed again over all of it. The canister filled up TWICE. I was mortified lol. This vacuum has powerful suction and harder tips on the roller that RAKE the carpet and get the film of dog hair out of my thick plush carpeting. I’m not lying. If I was unimpressed, I would tell you so! You DO have to empty the canister more than you would any other vacuum because it is small. If you are continuously vacuuming every room in your house and not emptying, you are going to put extra stress on the motor. It IS a stick vacuum. If you need heavy duty, 5-6 rooms at a time vacuuming, this isn’t your vacuum. I had to empty after EACH room because my vacuum obviously wasn’t doing its job. But I expect next time I won’t (I hope) because I will be pulling out the vacuum daily and keeping the dirt to a minimal in general. I really wanted cordless but my man insisted he didn’t want to deal with battery issues. I’ve never had a cordless and I just wanted one so bad. Cords irritate me and get in my way lol. But this purchase was good. So far I am very satisfied. I will definitely come back and redo my review if I feel like my opinion has changed in a couple months. I’ve had this vacuum for 4 years. Here are my thoughts: PROS 1. Good suction, still finds dust and dirt and pet hair 2. Lightweight and really low profile so you can vacuum under things easily 3. Price is amazing for the quality 4. No bags and all the filters I can clean out on my own and reuse. Huge cost and environmental savings. 5. Easy and fast detach / attach for getting corners and using the tools that come with it. 6. Dust bin opens easily and smart so I can hold it over the trash and won’t get dust everywhere. Less messy to empty than others. CONS 1. Corded 2. Hose broke down in head where it bends and flexes as you vacuum, I noticed it at year 3.5, so I had to replace that segment of hose (had holes/cracks in it). I purchased a hose at Home Depot and found some instructions online. Overall it was moderately hard to replace. 3. Suction does not adjust when you vacuum over rugs like the expensive name brand competitor so I have to stand on one end to hold the rug down due to the suction wanting to pickup the rug. 4. Doesn’t sit upright, must lean against a wall when it’s not hanging on the wall given it is too heavy. If you pause during vacuuming to pick something up etc. the thing may fall down while leaning against the wall. Takes a bit of experience to get the perfect, no-fall lean figured out.jessica.b

Honestly haven’t had any major complaints about the vacuum. We do have kids so we use it probably every other day to 2 days. It’s a compact vacuum which is a plus. The one tiniest complaint I’d have is after going back and forth a couple times there are some items that you would think the vacuum would pick up, but doesn’t. Instead, I use the detachable wand for those odd pieces. I should clarify, the vacuum has picked up 99% of what is seen on the carpet. It’s just those random odd stragglers and it doesn’t happen every time. As for our tiles, I just use the wand to pick up anything necessary then jet swift it but that’s a different product.GL

To start off I would have to say that the Dirt Devil Endura Max Upright vacuum is a high quality performing product. There is very great suction when it comes to pet hair and even popcorn in the carpet that my child had spilled. The spinning brush is adjustable to many settings. Such as bare floor to higher profile carpet. It does a great job of pulling dirt and hair out of my medium profile carpet. It isn't to heavy so when I use the extended hose handle I can carry it from place to place. One thing in was not a fan of was the multi dusting piece. It was a little to bulky to fit into my window seal to get that dirt out. The smaller end was also not long and thin enough to fit into my dryer vent. The dusting piece also added extra unnecessary bulk. It is a nice concept but it isn't as great as the individual pieces. Other than my opinion on the duster, I really enjoy and love my Dirt Devil Endura Max Upright vacuum. If you are contemplating this purchase, I recommend you try this product. Other than marrying my ex husband, buying this vacuum was the worst decision of my life. It is bulky and cheap plastic. Extremely loud and makes my arm go numb from all of the vibration! It has a "hardwood" setting but the brush still spins in that setting, which can scratch the hardwood. I was excited about the pet brush attachment, but is doesn't really work since the attachment will NOT stay on the hose or in the attachment holder, for that matter. It does not have much suction, I feel running a lint brush over the carpet would pick up more! I won't even give this vaccum away because I wouldn't want anyone to hate me!BBB Customer

Very powerful, light and maneuverable, the brush is driven by a separate motor, seams like a great design, but the brush allows hair to get right into the Barrings!!! I removed and cleaned the brush after 2nd use, found that some pet and human hair had gotten into the Barring, melted the barring cap and housing. the third use the brush stopped before i was done as it was bound up. I only used it for the upstairs of my house. I'll call support to try to get another brush, but how long will the last? after years of well designed brushes, WHAT Happened? were they lasting too long?DAVID

My little dog sheds an unbelievable amount of fur. I use this throughout my home. The best things about this product are: 1) strong motor; 2) it's lightweight; 3) the attachment hose is long enough that the vacuum doesn't collapse when in use; 3) disassembling the unit to clean is very easy, assembling is also very easy. I bought a well-advertised competitive pet vacuum during the pandemic shutdown. It caused me nothing but grief. I don't have the strong hands of a 20-year old any longer, so I dreaded having to clean the canister. There were times I broke into tears of frustration because I just didn't have the strength to move the parts in the same directions. (I put that product up on the neighborhood website "for sale" section, reducing my purchase price by 2/3. Still no takers.) I need a clean house. I LOVE my Hoover Total Home Pet bagless vacuum cleaner! I vacuum my house at least daily due to having one big dog and 2 cats that all seem to shed. I usually end up purchasing a new vacuum every year. I have owed so many vacuums over the years and I have never bought the same one twice. I think I have found my forever brand and model with the Hoover Total Home Pet bagless vacuum! I love how powerful this vacuum is! After one vacuum, I was amazed at how much hair was in the canister! I love that the vacuum is lightweight since I have to carry it to three different floors in my home. I like the different settings for both the carpet and the hardwood as my home has both types of flooring. The suction on this vacuum is so powerful, you will be amazed! The tools that came with this vacuum are awesome! The quick release cleaning wand is perfect to clean those high areas and the dusting brush is extremely helpful with cleaning the blinds, curtains and ceiling fans. My favorite attachment tool though is the pet turbo tool! This tool is so easy to use and gets all the hair off my couches and steps! Thank you Hoover for making such a powerful vacuum cleaner! The overall feel of this vacuum cleaner would best be described as cheap. The plastic used for the housing is flimsy and the handle itself feels unsecure. The dirt collection canister is difficult to release due to the manufacture glue holding the flap in place. The brush attachment stopped working within 10 minutes of use and when it does run the attachment provides poor cleaning power. Overall I am not satisfied with the vacuum and I have begun my return of the item. I purchased this and a Hoover carpet cleaner and I am just as displeased with the cleaner.Bill

I've had this vacuum for a b little over a year as a spare for upstairs. I don't use it that often and it had worked fine for what I needed. Then it shut off the other day while using it. I discovered hair clogs in the hose. Seriously disappointed since this is specifically for households with pets. I cleared the clogs, cleaned the brushroll and tried again. There was very little suction and it still turned off after a few minutes of use. I took out the filters & made sure they were clean. I was actually surprised at how clean they were. Tested it again this morning and there is still no suction. It gets hot and shuts off. Not sure if I should spend the money to get it services or just throw it away. I don't remember if I registered it for the warranty and there doesn't seem to be a way to check the website.Candace

This vacuum is good for its price. It is mainly plastic construction but it holds up with normal use. The power cable is two pieces (short length attached to the vacuum and a long extension) that is heavy duty and weighs a lot more than standard vacuums.wiz240

I have had a Hoover Windtunnel since 2012 and love it. This vacuum is terrible. It has good suction but………When it is in the Upright position so you can use the attachments the roller brush does not shut off. It ruins your carpet! It actually was smelling like something was burning. I think the belt was slipping. Bad engineering to not have the roller brush shut off in the upright position. What kind of idiot would say yes to a design like this? Our Windtunnel shuts off in the upright position. Tried to call Hoover….was told they were closed on a Thursday, I Was told in a recording to go online which I did but chat said they were closed and to call them. PING PONG affect going on here. DUMB….. Then on Friday was on hold 2 hrs before it cut me off. Called back, pressed the prompt for a call back and never got one the entire day and still no call back. Today is Monday called again and again We are closed after going through all the prompts to wait for an agent. Went online to chat and actually got someone named Honey B who was a bit rude saying we are open, just busy. So there is a difference of being closed and saying busy hang on….. Then when I told about the problem we had I was told to talk to who makes our carpet. Pass the buck Hoover on poor engineering huh????. You should never have a vacuum that the brush spins and spins when it's in one place. This vacuum was made to use attachments so put the rollers into idle please while using them. You will wear out your carpet and wear out your vacuum belt. Hoover will try everything I'm sure to cover our damaged carpet….SO BUYER beware. FORGET this vacuum. Its junk. PLUS the dial to lift the vacuum head up really does nothing. It's a joke. And when emptying the canister, it fell off the hinges. Seriously, I will never recommend Hoover again. I grew up using Hoover products and have used them my entire adult life. I researched all brands/models before replacing our older Hoover. We decided on this vacuum due to having three cats and it's excellent reviews. The first time I vacuumed with it, I loved it. I actually still love it's vacuuming capabilities (after using it a month). The fault with this product lies in the fact that as soon as you turn on the vacuum, the brush turns at a very high speed (while vacuum is still in upright position) and the brush doesn't stop until you turn off the vacuum, regardless of floor setting or if you are using the upholstery/stair attachments. I've never had a vacuum like this before and being that it's specifically designed for pet owners, the fact that the brush turns when the upholstery attachments are in use baffles me. While trying to vacuum our couch the brush actually wore on our carpet and heated it to the point of melting after less than a minute. I tried manipulating the vacuum and leaning it back off the carpet while using the attachment but that is just way too much effort. We tried it on all floor settings including hard floor with the same results. Honestly, the brush shouldn't turn until the handle is released for vacuuming so I'm not exactly sure why it was made this way. I returned it thinking I had a faulty vacuum and exchanged it for the same model (it does vacuum really well), and the second vacuum did the same, so I must assume it's simply a design flaw. So if your pet's don't shed on furniture or stairs I recommend this model, otherwise It pains me to say that I don't recommend it.Cat mom of three

Well, it seems to do ok but there are some things that make me wonder why they were designed the way they were. The on switch should be up at the top of the handle instead of being a foot switch where the reclining lever used to be for something like 100 years of Hoover vacuums. To recline the handle now requires I reach around with my foot and step on the front of the machine while forcing the handle down. It's very awkward and silly to change a design that worked for a century. And the rug height adjustment is a little touchy. I set it around medium and started vacuuming a very low rug and didn't know the belt was slipping until I smelled rubber burning. Oops. Once I learned to dial the height properly the vacuum does a pretty good job of cleaning pet hair and dirt from carpet. I had been vacuuming with a shop vac and thought my rugs were fairly clean, but the Hoover with the spinning brushes managed to pull out a lot more dirt that I missed. Emptying the canister is straightforward. I take it outside and blow it with a leaf blower. I can't imagine getting it sufficiently clean any other way without using water. Overall it's a marvel of engineering that performs its job very well, but with a couple very obvious design blunders that renders it a bit awkward to use.Randal

I just moved into a new apartment and have saved up for this Dyson and it was the best decision I have made. My new place is a 2 bed/2 bath apartment with mostly hard floors and carpets in the bedroom. After going to Dyson’s website and taking their quiz. First, I have to suggest going through Dyson’s website to purchase and not through a 3rd party (Amazon, Target, etc). Dyson offers a price match, you are ensured a warranty, if you wish to get additional attachments, you can know you are getting the correct ones. Next, after know about what model and price point I needed, I was able to look at each machine and pick out the best that would work for me, my cleaning routine, and my home. My Dyson came with so many different attachments (included!!!) but the reason I chose this one was it had different heads for one for each type of flooring, carpet or hard floors. I can remove the wand to make the attachments handheld to clean my couch, add it and a soft bristle head to clean the walls and the top corners next to my ceiling. I could go on and on. This isn’t a vacuum… this has replaced so many different tools I used to clean and, above all, my favorite part, as new apartments can come some lingering bugs, I take the head off and can stay far enough away and still catch and dump the creepy-crawlies. It is my new bug killing machine. As I said, I could write a novel about how much I love this Dyson. It was worth every penny.heather.n

First of all; I have a DC33 for almost 10 years and it is still working excellent, I had repaired a minor cosmetic issue but this is a great tool from Dyson. I really appreciate the thoughtful design of these machines and everything that Dyson produces. This is an outstanding company. Now, we bought the V8 Absolute and we are even more impressed with such beautiful design, with such a great details and mostly with the efficiency of a Dyson. The quality of the VB-Absolute is visible and tangible; this is a great investment and a great tool to implement in our home. I got a V7 in Jan 2019. Initially, and for about 1.5 yrs., I thoroughly enjoyed it. Then my housecleaner told me a charge didn't last more than 10 mins. Because I have another plug-in vacuum, I didn't think much of it at the time. Then I hired another cleaner. She brought her own vacuum so it hasn't been used at all since Jan 2022. Just in the last week, I tried to use it and it only lasted about 30 seconds. I had a very good experience with the website and service person on the phone but I have been advised that a new battery is necessary. If that is correct, I must say that I am disappointed in Dyson. I expected better performance from their machine. For a machine that is 3 1/2 yrs. old and only used perhaps 2 years of that (and not solely because I have another machine), I think the battery should last longer. And, if the cost of the battery is 1/4 of the price of the machine, I think that is even more disappointing. And, it's the cost of the battery + shipping. My carpenter husband has battery powered tools, uses them consistently and has never had to replace a battery. That knowledge doesn't help me. Is it possible that the charging station is defective? At any rate, as much as I loved it in the beginning, I'm pretty unhappy at present. I recommended my vacuum to lots of friends at first but now, I would have to tell them the whole story and what to expect.Bren

I really wanted to love this vac Pros: – Excellent for floors; gets most corner and crevice dirt with just the brush head; even gets up dust well (5 stars for floor cleaning) – Decent suction on carpet @ med speed; doesn’t always feel like it’s picking up, but it is (don’t expect vacuum lines though) – Brush head is small enough for steps – Extremely lightweight – Came with a wall mount kit, crevice tool and a combo brush tool – Can stand on its own when positioned correctly, so no need to lay the vac down first to pick up something off the floor (I wouldn’t store it that way around kids or pets as it doesn’t “lock” in an upright position) Cons: – Battery life: decent on floors, so so when vacuuming large area rugs, and terrible on carpet @ med speed (@ turbo, the timer goes so fast, you feel like you’re disarming bombs in the movie Die Hard) – You need backup batteries to vacuum a small fully carpeted apartment or detail a car – Combo brush wouldn’t stay fully extended in brush mode – Takes too long to charge (total “minute man”) – Need to maneuver the control unit to make sure the brush head stays flat when vacuuming under beds – Even if the brush head can fit under furniture, you may not be able to vacuum under the item as the brush head may be stopped by how it’s designed (to connect to the stick) – Owner’s manual would be better if it gave tips and trips for usage to save battery life while cleaning Overall: My whole downstairs is hardwood, so I got this vac for my floors, carpeted steps, and car. It’s vacuums floors very well and you can do most of the cleaning with just the regular brush head. I only used the combo brush and crevice tool for small or awkward spaces for floors. For carpet, you need the crevice tool for baseboards. Note: the slightest bump makes the combo brush tool disengage from brush position, which gets extremely annoying. It doesn’t get under the furniture that I hoped it would due to the design of the brush head; it would be stopped. When vacuuming under something, you will need to maneuver the top to make sure the brush head stays flat (I had to lay on the floor while vacuuming under my bed to keep it in the right position). I wouldn’t use this on carpet when I’m deep cleaning my home; just for quick cleaning. It picks up well enough on carpet @ med speed, however turbo gives a deeper clean but you couldn’t get more than a large area rug done at that speed before the battery died. (see pic – it took around 11 mins to vacuum my avg sized main bdrm – including under the king sized bed – @ med speed (actually dropped to 32 mins but I had to turn it on to take pic and it actually lost 4 mins, due to turning off and on, in the 30 secs I took to position correctly for a couple of pics bc I took the first one upside down). This unit is perfect for dorm rooms, or small apartments with more way more hardwood than carpet. Outside of that, if you stick to using it on floors, you won’t be disappointed. 1. A 2nd Battery should be Included with the intial purchase. High power suction is rarely USEFUL as it drains the Battery run-time MUCH TOO FAST to clean more than A VERY SMALL surface area. 2. The floor tool LEDs, are very "bright" to our eyes but only "Dimly & barely" light up more than even a few inches of floor. Those tool lights are placed too low, their lighting is too unfocused, and that also leaves the other tools with no lighting. Solution: 2a. Leave the LEDs ON the floor tool but also ADD a circular ring of LEDs to the main body of the vacuum. 2b. Use a lens to spot-focus ALL of the lights. Space them so the edges of each of their lighting areas slightly overlap. 2c. That would create high & low, mini-LED spotlights, with focused, overlapping lighting coverage, that is usable with every attachment & also more effective w/the floor tool. 3. Include a lights On/Off option. LEDs ARE efficient but, battery-run-time WILL be longer if the lights aren't needed & can be turned off. 3. Can that white filter be water rinsed & air dried? If not, Then, 3a. Publicize the cleaning steps necessary to re-clean it. 3b. Engineer a future, purchasable filter replacement that IS eithet water rinse-able & air dry-able OR, easily re-cleanable. (The following is a product Feature Request, for a future version of this vacuum. It is NOT a Criticism.) 4.Can future iterations/versions of this vacuum include 4a. additional internal sensors that would trigger the Wyze app to issue the following notifications via our (the customers) choice of Phone/Alexa/Google: 4b. "Replace Vacuum Battery!" (Rechargeable Battery capacity has dropped below "XY" Percent of Original 100% recharge capacity!) 4c. "Clean or Replace the White/HEPA Vacuum Filter!" (HEPA Filtration efficiency has dropped below HEPA standards!" If cleaning the filter eliminates this warmini-spotlights reducing avoidable waste. 5. Wyze has the opportunity to not only do good but, to also do well by, 5a. reducing their replacement item cost & enhancing their top line profit, thru the savings realized from 5b. Recycling ♻️ & Recovering ♻️ the reusuable parts of the returned batteries' chemicals via 5c. The returned HEPA filters' frames & paper coming back in thru the Mailers. This is a beautiful machine. I ordered this one, hoping for much. It hasn't disappointed. Pros : * There was no dust kickback upon powering on. * This machine has two motors; one drives the brush roll head, the other powers the suction. * It's a motor-driven projecting upright *Allergy seal *Headlight * The suction is 10/10. My black low pile carpet looked brand new, like from the store. I haven't tried it on my high pile carpet yet, but I will (and will check back here). * This vac has a feature where it swivels during upright vacuuming. I was worried about stability issues with this 14 lbs vacuum, but found the concern was unmerited. The swivel makes it even easier to navigate on carpet. It's completely sturdy when it stands up in locked position, too. *Unique dark torquoise color Cons: * Only one attachment can be carried on your vacuum. I leave the spare in the no-carpet room. * The crevice tool has air leaks where the tool slides into another one when flipped. This tool is a joke for that reason alone. * The floor levels can't be adjusted in a traditional way, by twisting a knob to the left/right. Instead the hose has a twist feature positive ( ) for increasing suction on bare floors twist the hose toward the negative (-) for reducing suction on carpets. It's different, but not so bad as I can tell so far. After much searching and research, this vac is quite a find! I would buy another one of these vacs if I got a two-story place. Just opened the box and started using it. So far found suction power to be adequate but during vacuuming on carpeted stairs I found few flaws annoying me. Firstly this vacuum is too heavy on wrists for working on stairs and secondly the suction pipe came out from the vacuum head during vacuuming the stairs. I mean why would they have this design which have no use whatsoever to unplug the pipe from the vacuum head. I’m gonna use it couple of times to see if it happens again and then I’ll decide if I want to keep it because I don’t want to go through it again and again during vacuuming if it keep coming out. Within 10 minutes of opening the box I knew I had a five-star product. It is incredibly well made and definitely works better than any other vacuum I own. Originally I thought I would use this on the carpeted floors upstairs but instead I have been using it on both the carpet and the hardwood. on the hardwood you can tell that there is a very strong suction to the floor and it rolls very easily with a great swivel head mechanism. The most amazing part of this vacuum though is what it does on the carpets. After cleaning my house with my regular, very well known purple vacuum I decided I would go over the very same floor with this. What was left behind is disgusting. I had really thought that our expensive vacuum was getting the cat hair out of the carpet. After one week of using this vacuum it is clear to me that this product blows its competitors out of the water. It is lightweight and yet the suction is incredible. I love every Shark product I've owned or gifted to someone else so had high expectations for this stick vac. I have been searching for a good robot vacuum for quite a long time since I'm unable to manage heavy vacuuming any more but none of the independent review articles give high marks to a robot that fits my needs so I turned to light stick vacs for a solution. I love this product. It meets my high expectations for a Shark and with daily 10 minute use on high traffic areas I can keep up with shedding from my medium haired cat in the carpet. The cord is long enough to cover the area and at my age, a cord doesn't bother me at all. The unit and accessories are stored in a closet without an outlet so a cordless vac isn't practical for me. If I have any criticism it's the size of the canister. One does have to take into account the reason I made this purchase, a super lightweight vac to clean cat hair from my carpet, and it makes perfect sense. I simply attach a small trash bag to carry with me in case I need to empty the canister.Shelley

Easy to carry, lightweight. I really do love this vaccum. It has pulled up a lot of dirt and hair from the carpets my rainbow couldn't pick up. I mainly have hard wood floors throughout my house now, with 1 carpeted area and a couple rugs. It's been very handy and picks up a lot. Cons: It lost suction after a year because the tube in the main basehead had cracked with normal use. Customer service could only offer to sell me the main basehead for over 75% of what I paid for the vacuum. This particular part, the tube; is not listed on Shark's website as a "wearable part" nor available. So I wonder why it is not covered by the 5 year limited warrenty? This is the main complaint I have read about that has happend to many others who also purchased the Shark Rocket. I had to do some searching for a tube replacement and we finally found one, then replaced it ourselves. If you do buy this vaccum, I would reccomend paying for extra coverage from the store purchase at as the 5 year limited warrenty is usless for this particular part and issue.Asp84

My husband bought this Shark Rocket for me in hopes of replacing my Dyson Animal with something lighter for quick, daily vacuuming, but it’s not up to the task. First of all, though the Rocket isn’t as big or as heavy as my old vacuum, all of its weight is at the top; the dust bin and motor are connected to the hand-hold, which means my wrist and hand have to support the bulk of its weight. Because the weight isn’t distributed, the small brush is unwieldy – too light to easily control regardless of how much pressure I attempt to push it with. I’m not a weakling, lol, but my arm gets tired FAST. Secondly, there is no way to turn off the roller brush and use just suction on hard surfaces. I have to move really slowly in sweeping the hardwoods, or else the Shark spits crumbs and other debris out the back. Moving slowly = holding the heavy motor/dust bin/handle for longer = even more tired hand/wrist/shoulder. Speaking of the roller brush, it clogs with dog hair and stops rolling after ONE pass over the 5×7 area rug in our seating area; I have to turn off the vacuum and cut the hair from the brush at least four times just in sweeping the one rug (we have two dogs, but I sweep every day, so I’m not asking it to vacuum a week’s worth of hair at once). It’s VERY frustrating. More negatives about this Shark Rocket: 1. It doesn’t stand on its own. If I need to stop sweeping in the middle of the job for any reason, I have to lay the vacuum on the floor, or prop it up against a piece of furniture. I still haven’t figured out how to store it. 2. The cord is also attached to the handle, and gets in the way of dumping the dust bin. 3. The attachments are difficult to use because they attach to the motor/dust bin/handle piece either directly or via a 12” hose, meaning I have to continue to hold the heaviest part of the vacuum while trying to manipulate the tools. 4. Though the brush part of the vacuum is small enough to adequately sweep the carpeted steps, I have to either lift the whole thing up, turn it backwards, and dangle the brush in front of the risers, or fight with the inconvenient and unwieldy attachments to get those areas. I’d say it takes twice as long for me to sweep using this than it does the old, clunky Dyson – definitely not making my life easier. I actually hate this vacuum, and would have returned it after the first use had my husband not thrown out the box it came on. Two hundred bucks for this useless thing.OhioMichelle

I am a highly experienced electronic repair technician. I just rebuilt a Shark Rotator Professional lift-away vacuum. Of course users fail to replace or clean all three filters causing loss of suction. Cleaning these with warm water and dawn dish soap works best. The unit claims to have thermal monitoring protection on the brush roll base and its design is causing the complaints of failure to work on carpeting in consumer homes. There is no thermal sensor. It uses a D.C. motor to a circuit board where a series low ohm current drop resistor exists. When the motor is slowed , thwe motor draws more current which lowers the resistence in the moter resistor series circuit causing increased voltage drop on the resistor triggering the circuit and activating the motors disconnect relay turning off motor. Although it does much to protect the motor in case of armature freezing with current applied. It makes the consumer unhappy because they cant vacuum carpets as they expect to paying almost 400 dollars for this nice vacuum. The fast fix is simply taking a soldering iron and lifting on side of the feed back silicon diode and reassembling unit. Now you will find the brush roll attachment actually works and does an awesome cleaning job on any carpet. Be sure to use caution and not pick up things that will jam the brush roller and break the belt. If this happens please turn off vacuum unplug and remove obstruction from brush roller. Then plug back in and finish vacuuming. I hope this helps others, mine is now issue less and working awesome.MissTiffany2025

Okay, this vacuum cleaner is actually FUN to run! It’s lightweight and very flexible. The long wand makes getting corners, cracks and crevices a breeze. Only drawback is the base will tip over if you stretch the hose too far, so keep an eye on it as you use the wand. Cleaning stairs is easy with the “Lift Away” feature. The NV501 has strong suction and durability. Do your regular maintenance as other reviews have mentioned, and store it properly. It’s super easy to take apart when needed. I accidentally sucked up a microfiber cloth once, but was able to open the hose at the right spot and pull the cloth right out. We’ve had our NV501 for almost a decade and still no problems. Have purchased this particular model as gifts for friends and family. Highly recommended.DB

I’ve had this model for about 5 years and yes occasionally you’ll have to cut some hair off the powdered brush if you have long hair or girls around or just heavy traffic I guess but that takes literally 20 seconds. Grab a pair of scissors, cut the hair and pull it out. Any vacuum with a brush is going to eventually wrap up hair! The vacuum has one killer motor, it cleans like nothing I’ve ever seen. I’m continuously impressed by the vast amount of dander, dust, and allergens it grabs every single time! I love how the handle comes off to clean small areas such as my couch cushions, behind furniture, etc. (I have this model which cane with ALL the attachments so I may have paid a bit more but it was definitely worth it) the only other difference is the colors. Mine has dark blue where the red is shown. I absolutely love how I can detach the base when going up stairs as shown in the photo. I don’t use the tiny “car part cleaners” which also came with the bulk of attachments but I guess it’s there if I were to ever need it. My fav attachment is the smaller roller brush that literally eats every cat hair off my dining room chairs and wherever else I need it. Anyway I suppose I could go on but you get my drift. By the way of course after awhile the vacuum will accumulate dust around the base and hose (I’ve seen someone post photos here of their dirty vacuum lol) but it’s a vacuum! It’s going to get dirty! My last thought pertains to the newest model I believe, the NV1000 with the “self cleaning brush” or double brush very bulky looking one. Although I haven’t used it, I personally don’t think it is going to sell much in the end. I say that with regards to the current reviews and complaints along with the marketing aspect in mind. What I conclude is just logical: once again as long as there is a revolving brush or in this case 2 rolling brushes, in time there WILL BE a hair issue as long as there are women, girls, and pets around. This machine is very well built, I think it was released in 2021 and you can tell it’s the same high quality you would get from a metal vacuum costing $100’s more. This is not very heavy to push around and it even works on hard floors without damaging them. The suction is very strong. At 1st I thought the piece connecting the suction to the dust tank looked poorly made with a air gap, but it was my mistake, this thing is perfectly built to capture all dust without releasing it back into the air. I also thought the rewind cord feature was poorly made at 1st being plastic, but it’s pressure powered and with the right pressure from your foot on the knob it powerfully snatches the cord right in every time. 12ft height ceiling cleaning hose for filter vacuuming and stuff is the future. This is the vacuum you want for around $100 and i think this is the 2021 model.Gamer7

This is the worst vacuum I’ve ever owned and I’ve only had it a week! To use the hose-you disconnect it with a button-and dirt you’ve already cleaned out falls on the floor. To clean the canister-you have to put your hand up into it and continually shake the thing to get the dirt and stuff to fall down so it can be thrown away-all the whole dirt is getting on you and your floor. You have to completely pull all of the cord out when you use it-or it overheats! Sometimes you only need a foot of cord. The cord rewind button is flimsy and cheap and the rewind doesn’t work by itself-I’d rather secure the cord myself than deal with this. If could give negative stars-I would! Very solid machine. I love the brush attachment, it really gets the dog hair out of the sofa well, even better if you approach stubborn areas from angles other than the typical far to near motion. I’ve been frustrated in the past with how cheaply vacuums can be made and I didn’t want another one like that. I had a very nice cleaner years ago I bought at Home Depot. It broke, and then I went to tile and wood flooring, so I just didn’t use a vacuum for a long time. I’m so glad I tried this because I’m not sure but it seems exactly like the one that I had years ago, with a different color. Suction is great. I no longer need to dread spider webs and cleaning furniture and the like the old way….nice to have this decent tool back.Jese
