Best Vacuum For Pellet Grill (2024 Update)

As the other reviews described, this ash vacuum is a little under powered. It does clean out ash from my pellet stove, but pellets that were left fell out of the tube as the suction wasn't strong enough to pull them into the vacuum. Im keeping it because it does clean the ash, and the filters work very well keeping the ash from blowing into the air when using. Its also a well made sturdy metal design.Molson

The Snow Joe ash vacuum is great , especially because I have super fine dust from collecting rocks. The unit is very tight with strong clamps, so the ashes and dust do not escape. To make the vacuum more mobile, I use and extension cord, since there are no wheels on the bottom.Particular Annie

Smaller and easier to use than my two regular shop vacs. The hose thoughtfully is shorter than that of a regular shop vac. A longer hose is not necessary for cleaning a fire place or wood stove and would be a nuisance to deal with. Only two issues at this point. 1) I wish the electric cord was at least two or three feet longer. And 2) the motor only being 5 amps is not very powerful so the suction, while able to get the job done, is relatively weak compared to most other vacuums. It’s as advertised. Has good suction and is not as loud as a regular vacuum. Can hold multiple pellet stove cleanups. Has a unique brush attachment that flips to an open tube. Does not allow ash sparks to fly out of canister like a regular vac does. Has wheels so when your busy with hot stove you don’t have to lift and move or worry about it tipping over if you pull on the hose it moves toward you and doesn’t tip. It’s worth more than the $80 I spent on it. I’ve used it 5 times and I’m very pleased.Dr sal

I bought this last year to clean my pellet stove. I choose a service interval when the stove is not in use for at least 1/2 day and completely cooled. The power is quite low and the motor readily heats up leaving a burning smell. I have to stop the unit several times during the stove clean-up to avoid tripping the overheating limit on the motor. I empty to ash area manually and only use the vacuum to tidy up.WoodeMN

I bought vac 3 years ago worked fine. Next year motor burnt up.Keap in garage. Got another vac worked fine. Put vac in pantry in house over warm months. Moving stove. Got vac out for sheet rock dust. This is an excellent product. The separation system between the air suction and the ash collection section has a broad plastic lip. This lip seals against the closure/motor. This design works. The cost is competitive for this product. We have two other ash vacs from a different manufacturer. The divider does not seal well at all in those machines.Zoro

OK. We have a very large fireplace so might not be issue for everyone but it did overheat before I was totally done cleaning out the ashes. I waited about an hour and then was able to use and finish.Jessica

Same experience as other reviewer. Had to empty & clean filter 3 times before I finished cleaning out my XL. Took about 20 minutes total time. I'll go back to manual cleaning which takes about 5 minutes. I'll try using the vacuum around the garage on small cleanups. It should be okay for that but not for ashes.OKC Egger

I am raising my rating to a 2.5. I have used this vacuum to clean out my small outdoor fireplace several times. I burn oak in it and this vacuum does okay with this job as the ash is almost all burned with no bigger pieces. I still have to stop, turn it off and shake it around, tapping it lightly on the patio to unclog the filter a couple times during the cleaning. This way I can do one cleaning without dumping and cleaning the filter. It does work okay for quick little cleanups around the garage. Anything more than that I use my big shop vac.OKC Egger

After using the vacuum for a few minutes the suction was poor so emptied the ash and cleaned the unit. It had only vacuumed up about 1-2 inches of ash. Gave it a second go and again quickly lost suction after a few minutes then just stopped. Again it only vacuumed up a inch of ash and was very warm. Hope to get a refund.Disappoint Cleaner

I purchased this SNOWJOE Ash Vacuum to clean out my pellet stove, which burns sawdust pellets and leaves behind a small amount of ash and burned pellet ash in the burn pot. It has been super handy. The unit is small enough I leave out and next to my pellet stove, so it's ready to go each time I need it. It works efficiently and does a good job sucking everything out. I have found the unit to be well made. I purchased the unit based on price and the reviews from other pellet stove owner/users. The size of the aluminum attachment is big and doesn't get into small areas well, but I turn it to angle it the best I can and use a clean paint brush to brush those areas while leaving vacuum on to suck up dust that flies while doing this. I would like it to have come with two more attachments, one being a smaller nozzle for small areas and the other being a brush style attachment like regular vacuums have to vacuum the sides of the pellet stove. But overall, this is a great product and I am very pleased with it!Morgan

piece of crap! will try to return. put it together tested it on fireplace ash… filled half way… stopped sucking. Nothing clogged. Went out and dumped the ash outside (to try again) one of the clamps fell off (not gonna find it in ash and grass) they are supposed to be attached… can't find clamp won't suck any ash up. get what you pay for… I just wanted a small one to fit in upstairs closet.auntiepol

I have been using my Craftsman 5 Gallon 3.0 peak HP Ash Vacuum for about a month now. I like that it’s medal and well made. Was easy to put together and isn’t bulky or heavy to carry around. I have a fire place in my house and also have a fire pit in my back yard. So this craftsman ash vac is a wonderful addition for my cleaning. I love that it had a light on it making it easier to see ash in areas of my house fire place. Also love that it has a filter. I slowly vacuum up the ash a little at a time so that the ash flows smoothly into the vacuum and have no problems with clean up. I love it and as always Craftsman didn’t let me down!Mistymango62

Craftsman 5 GAL 3.0 Peak HP Ash Vacuum has proven very effective in cleaning up my ashes. The 5 gal container makes it a breeze to clean up a large amount. The unit comes equipped with a hepa filter and that prevents pollutants from re-entering the atmosphere. I suffer from allergies and typically whenever I clean my chimney or the grill I tend to sneeze or become congested, this vacuum has drastically reduced those reactions. I will now look forward to cleaning my chimney and grill. I also use the vacuum in my car, and yes it works just as well. I did however give it four stars because it doesn’t have wheels. I have arthritis and the fact that I have to pick this vacuum up when it is full is no joke. I wish it had wheels or even the capability of buying a wheel attachment. With the being said it is mainly made from plastic however some of the parts are metal. It is a dry vac only. It feels durable and the suction power is absolutely powerful and effective. It has roughly a six foot cord, so for large surface areas have an extension cord handy. Overall I am happy with the vacuum and hope to push the limits on what it can vacuum up.Mommydaddy777

Overall a solid vacuum. I bought a pellet stove and it constantly needs to be cleaned. This helps me clean up all the ashes and it works well. One thing I would suggest to Craftsman is to put some wheels on the vacuum to make it easier to move. Perhaps a longer hose but there might be a reason the hose is short.anonymous

It's a great buy if you have a wood burning fireplace. Conveniently contains the wood ash left after a fire. It is well sealed so no mess or dust left after vacuuming like you get when using a shop vac. It holds several fires ashes before it has to be emptied.Mary

I really like the portability and suction of this vac, the one thing I don't like is the hose design. I don't understand why the interior hole for suction is wider than the second hole inside the hose? What this does is plug the hose so you're constantly poking your finger in it so everything will suck into vac. It's like traveling down a 4 lane highway then running into an accident where everything slows down. Not that good for leaves on the firewall of your car. Best feature is the size and weight – so portable and light. Would be nice if the hose stretched a little farther, but then it might not store so neatly. You can't quite reach a full arm's length with it, but still quite handy. The suction seems quite adequate for a small unit (won't rival your shop vac or home vacuum, but good enough for small jobs) Battery removal and charging are easy, and dust cup emptying also easy. Haven't tried cleaning the internal filter yet. Price is higher than cheap handheld units (think DustBuster), but I think it will be much more versatile. I have a plastic wand from a discarded vacuum that will work as an extension. I'm glad I bought this little portable vac. It works great in cleaning my van. I get a lot of fir tree needles on the floor mats. Using high speed setting with the brush was better that using the crevice tool for picking up fir needles. I was surprised the 2Ahr battery last a long time on high vacuum speed. I also used the battery on the Worx small blower to blow fir needles off the van and engine compartment. The blower was great for cleaning out the vacuum waste container and cleaning the vac hepa&metal filter. A great combination of tools.Harry46

I received a brand new Bissell Crosswave HF3 Cordless Multi-Surface hard floor cleaner complimentary from BzzAgent in exchange for my honest review. First off I would like to say how simple this was to assemble. Right out of the box, I just had to firmly snap in the top handle to the bottom of the device until I heard a click. This is something anyone can easily put together quickly. I made sure to read the instructions manual a couple of times. Being cordless, the only downfall I discovered was how long it took to fully charge this device. 4.5 hours to fully charge it, and I got around 30 minutes of use before I had to charge it again. I love how simple it is to switch from low to high mode and the LED lighted indicators. I have hard wood flooring, as well as tile flooring at my house. This is ideal for anyone who doesn't have carpet flooring. The charge dock is very interesting because the device fits perfectly onto the dock and you plug in the adapter go the docking station. Then plug it into any normal outlet. This doesn't take up a lot of space and it makes my floors spotless. It will let me know when the battery is low with a blue flash light. This came with a very handy brush and strainer which makes it much easier and quicker to clean it. Not to mention it has a self cleaning mode. You have to recline the device in order for it to start working. I then select if I want low or high water flow and it automatically dispenses the fluid + water mix. Then I push it forward and backwards to get the job done. Being that this is cordless, I can get into places I normally can't reach unlike other machines I've owned before. Also I don't have to worry about any cords getting tangled or not reaching. For a nice deep clean, I used the high mode which you will see the liquid on the floor. This is suppose to happen. You want to let it soak in for at least five minutes before going over it. For really stuck on stains, I had to repeat this process a few times. This machine is lightweight and easy to maneuver. I definitely would recommend buying this Crosswave by Bissell! I am still learning how to use the machine after having a little over a week and I did watch a few videos on how to remove the brush roll. I also like how you put the solution and water in the top part and the dirty water dispenses on the bottom. I've had zero issues with this leaking. Also if you tend to have a lot of hair on the floor, make sure to check the brush roll so you can cut off any hair that has tangled on the roll. I do wish it came with an extra brush roll but that is ok because I can find parts for this very easily. Do not make the mistake of over filling the top water tank. There are two lines, one for the water and one for the Bissell solution. I love that this comes with a 18 month warranty. Do not forget to fill out the warranty card and mail it out or you won't have any warranty. Bissell has their own support team that you can either email or call with questions or concerns. The price of this machine is a little pricey, but after trying I definitely understand why. It actually works! So far so good.Redhdedgrl

First of all, this vacuum arrived on or ahead of schedule and was packaged very well. I was looking for a lighter, smaller canister vac to replace a Kenmore which I was unable to get repaired after 12 years of good service. I was skittish about purchasing something other than a Kenmore, a brand I have used for appliance purchases for many years, but now they are going out of business. I decided this was the time for a smaller vacuum as I frequently use it upstairs and down. I really wanted to see the vac prior to purchase, but due to Covid and many stores not carrying canisters, I had no choice but to buy online. I was able to get the best price, compared to other retailers, by using my BB&B coupons and purchased the vac as well as the supply of bags and filters. I've had the vac for four months and love it! The suction is awesome, it is lightweight and easy to handle and carry up and down stairs – perfect for my situation. I just changed the bag today for the first time and it was very easy. I do wish the cord were just a bit longer and the control was in the handle, instead of on the vac, but these are not major issues for me. My wife and I have had upright vacuums for the last 20 years and were having to replace them every 2-3 years. When it came time to yet again replace an upright because the plastic brush head broke, we looked into the Mieie canister line. Since we had only a couple of rugs , no carpets and mostly hardwood floors, we went with the Classic C1 Turbo Team. It is super quiet and powerful and it's nice to be able to dial down the power, in fact we have never used it on full power. It's also handy to have suction control on the straight wand part, this keeps the Turbo head from sticking on a super low Turkish type rug. Our only regret is not buying a Miele sooner and as an added perk, our dog doesn't bark at the canister like she did the uprights and is tolerating the low noise quite fine.Ron

I purchased this vacuum after reading hundreds of reviews, videos and questions to those I know that own one. I am in LOVE with it! It is one of the quietest vacuums I've ever owned! I have hardwood, area rugs and medium pile carpet in a couple rooms. It made the floors throughout the house pristinely clean! I literally vacuumed the kitchen (vinyl flooring). No more brooms and dust pans for me! My back is very thankful! I didn't get the model that is $100 less because of the carpets and I'm glad I did. I have a hardwood floor attachment and the turbo that I use on my carpets. This is cleaning HEAVEN! It makes things just SO much easier. The extending tube is great to grab any dust on the walls/ceiling and those little cobwebs that magically appear every darned spring! I have a dog who sheds and it got his hair up in the corners and carpet wonderfully! I know this isn't the pet grade one but I plan to upgrade the filter or bag or whatever because it picks up my boy's hair just fine! My sister has one and she uses hers to clean up crumbs and dry spills (salt, seasonings, whatever) from her counters and table! She loves not having the soggy mess to clean with a cloth! Oh my goodness. I've been a housewife for nearly 30 years and I've spent countless hours vacuuming my home. I have never loved a vacuum before….EVER. This new Miele is a magnificent machine. First of all it's beautiful. It is designed so well. Every part clicks into place with such easy precision. Every part is very easily accessible and well made. The controls on the handles are genius. Pure genius. And performance?? WOW. Its quiet. There is NO smell or odor or dust when I vacuum!! I didn't realize all of these years how much my past vacuums put out dirt,dust,smells…YUCK! I'm 52 years old and I can vividly remember the smell that would come from our very expensive Kirby vacuum from my childhood. It always smelled like our dog….ewww! I'm so happy with my Miele that I have yet to put it away! I've used it everyday since it arrived and I love to just look at it! The retractable cord works seamlessly. The wand holders on the unit are fabulous. The power head brings tears to my eyes…..all of the choices for power level and height are wonderful. My home is 95% wood floors and we have many area rugs. I used to hate having to use different vacuums to clean either the wood floors or the rugs. Now my problem is solved. Instead of dreading vacuuming I'm delighted to plug in my miele!!!jewelrymama

It’s a transition for me to not see what I’ve picked up and wait for an indicator light to tell me when to change the bag, but I look forward to it! I previously had a bagless canister with another maker. The cord on this one practically gets me through my house. I was surprised how long it is. I was excited about the light, but it’s not what I expected because the light I needed was for the hard floors and it is only on the carpet attachment. Don’t get me wrong, as I love this vacuum! This is by far the very best vacuum I have ever owned and I suspect I will not have to buy another one again. The Uniq not only has strong suction, it also has suction control which allows me to fine tune the suction based on what I am cleaning. This vacuum is extremely quiet, so much so that I can use it in the early morning and not wake up my children. The bags are large and go a long way. Lots of finger tip controls and height adjustments for the big power head. It really does make my life easier when using this vacuum. I feel spoiled by my Miele UniQ but I am worth it.Elsa

For a long time I was considering returning this vacuum. The only reason I haven't is because it works well enough and I don't have the time to go vacuum hunting. It's an okay vacuum but it is literally just okay. The suction is good but after a little while the vacuum becomes hard to push. It does pick up a lot of dirt, dust and hair though. The hose suction is terrible and practically nonexistent. I used the hose to vacuum up a spider which, with my old vacuum, would have killed it. But this vacuum didn't kill it and it somehow escaped (I got it the next day with a shoe but really, it's that easy for them to escape??). Also the attachments will not stay on the vacuum AT ALL so I have to keep them in a bag. The cord is long, but too long. Even if you leave it wound, it often falls off the hooks while vacuuming and gets in the way.JustAGirlFromSomeplace

This vacuum was purchased by my household less about 10 months ago and it's already broken. I have used it almost daily, so it's gotten a lot of use. Worked great at first, but had to replace belts at least once a month because they kept breaking. I was using the vacuum at the correct setting for carpet height, however it kept switching to bare floor mode by itself. I wasn't sure how that was happening. Also, the top part of the handle cracked in half, which I believe is due to design flaw. When you are pushing the vacuum, this seemed to be the point that would bear the most weight and it's the thinnest part of the handle. It's good if you are in need of a vacuum on a budget, but don't expect it to last long.kristywink

Seriously, this thing is epic. Still mostly plastic on the exteripr, but, unlike cheaper vacuums, this has a but of quality and detail to it. The quality of plastics is higher, the quality of molds and designing are better too. This thing is no louder than any other vacuum I have ever owned, with the brush ruler off. But, turn that on (it can be disengaged on the fly with a foot pedal fit quick switching between carpet and hardwood floors – nice), and it is rather loud. You definitely know those brushes are spinning. I am fine with that, but some may be snowflakes about noise (or have sleeping babies – I understand not wanting THIS vacuum if you have a baby and relish a little nap time). If you aren't whisper-thirsty… THIS Vacuum will suck the ghosts out of a haunted carpet. I literally only have two rooms with carpet and a hallway, yet this sucker nearly filled its canister on the FIRST use! Seriously, I pulled up enough dirt, dust, sand dander, and dog fur that I ended up with about two pounds of filth to dump once I was done (and I only vacuumed the master bedroom and hall!!!). If you can get this vacuum for……. under $150, grab it! Easy to assemble, easy to use, very sturdy, very VERY well made for the price I bought mine at, and DOES A DAMN GOOD JOB. This is a well-built little vacuum that proves handy for quickly vacuuming the hardwood in the kitchen and dining room. Powerful suction, combined with light weight, make this little guy a good value. A couple of things however, need work: The carrying handle is in no way ergonomic, making it awkward to carry around. The hose coupling to the extension tube absolutely will not stay connected, except with duct tape! The little clip to hold the plug to the cord when storing will not flex enough to press the cord into it. It just won't work, period. The on-off button needs to be moved to the other end of the vacuum, so as to use it with your thumb, rather than reaching back to press it with your little finger. I'm always on the hunt for things Made in the USA. Fix this.J.

Really wimpy, the hose is short so you have to hold the entire unit and hose to do anything. So forget holding a flashlight. I was really disappointed in this almost $150 unit. It was my most underwhelming purchase of 2021 and that says a lot.g.

While visiting the Oreck store for bags we saw the Ultimate and for some unknown reason decided to trade our Oreck Compact Canister for the Ultimate. Probably because it looked more stylish. Any advantage over the compact ends there. What a mistake we made. The hose is awkward to use. There is not as much suction flower. The on/off switch is not convenient to operate. The unit is top heavy and easily tips over. The shoulder strap is too short. In short…..there is nothing to recommend this product. Buy the boxy utilitarian looking Compact Canister. We wish we still had our old Compact Canister.brian

How cute is this thing. There are a lot of things that I love about this hand held vacuum. First it's super lightweight which makes it easy to get around without having to drag anything. It fits comfortably on my shoulder and the strap makes it even better. Second it's compact. It's not big and bulky pretty much freeing me up again to move around freely and get the cleaning done. It has all the pieces that a regular vacuum have without the bulk and weight. Third thing I like is that the cord is nice and long. I've had hand helds or light weight vacuum cleaners and for whatever reason they make the cords short. That kind of defeats the purpose of being able to walk around conveniently. This cord is 20 feet long and it's sturdy and heavy duty so you don't have worry about it threading. The handheld is super easy to put together once you get it out of the box. Just attach the hose. Clip on the shoulder strap, pick your attachment, plug it in and your off. I use it for my ceiling fan. Having the the hose of the vacuum cleaner right at elbows length makes it very easy to clean high places. I can't really describe it in words but, it's just creates a more natural movement and bend of my arm and hand with it right next to me as opposed to bringing the hose from a vacuum that on the floor and pulling it up. It also makes it easy to clean the top part of the kitchen cabinets, the corners of the walls that may have spiderwebs, the upper part of the window pane and smaller tight places like closets, cabinets and behind furniture. The suction is pretty powerful. I find that is the case with Oreck vacuums in general. I recommend it if you want to move around and clean easily without having to drag the vacuum around and also if you're looking for more flexibility and movement of your arms while you clean that a bulky vacuum or even the smaller handhelds that don't allow for attachments.Rain

My Review of Vacuum: First thing to know is that our household has 5 Dogs and 3 Cats. So you can imagine the amount of pet hair we have to deal with all the time. Now, the setup of the vacuum was very easy, and the options to choose from are Brilliant. There are Attachments for every vacuum job in the house. Then, there are 6 – Types of Suction to choose from. The revolving brushes do an incredible job of separating each strand of rug. This allows the vacuum to remove stubborn pet hair easily. One of my Favourite things about the vacuum is the level of the sound it creates, is good and Quiet. The room I had decided to run my test with was the one with the worst amount of hair. No other vacuum I had owned in my 50 years of life was ever able to remove the deeper hair from within that room. This vacuum, not only removed all the pet hair, but I only needed to the one Dust Bag. I had forgotten how nice that rug was, and now it is very clean and elegant once again. All of the pet hair on our couch and chairs were removed with ease. I have never had any actual judgment for any of my prior vacuums before, but this one I take pleasure in using it; I think highly of the options for each different job. There are no jobs that it can not do. I don’t even have to change Attachments to go onto the next room which is Hardwood Flooring, as the options for the rotating brushes are easily turned off. Also, the convenient compact size allowed for easy movement to each room. Over all I can no longer see myself without this vacuum in my life. I had an upright Miele for 10 years and it finally died. Since they do not make uprights any longer, I purchased this with some hesitation. I purchased used, so I expected some wear and dirt, but this thing was filthy. There were no bags (one bag wouldve been nice). I had to use a shop vac to clean the inside of the canister because it looked like a bag exploded in there. Then, I had make a trip to a specialty vacuum store to buy bags. Now, once that was all over, I have to say those Germans know whats up. This is the best vacuum Ive ever owned. I bought this to replace an almost 20 year old Oreck from when Mr. Oreck owned and ran the company. It was a tall bar to clear, but the Meile exceeded expectations. Its heavy and unwieldy, but Im sure Ill get used to that. The suction and carpet fluffing are amazing and made me rethink the need for new carpets in the kids rooms. That can wait a few more years. I purchased this SNOWJOE Ash Vacuum to clean out my pellet stove, which burns sawdust pellets and leaves behind a small amount of ash and burned pellet ash in the burn pot. It has been super handy. The unit is small enough I leave out and next to my pellet stove, so it's ready to go each time I need it. It works efficiently and does a good job sucking everything out. I have found the unit to be well made. I purchased the unit based on price and the reviews from other pellet stove owner/users. The size of the aluminum attachment is big and doesn't get into small areas well, but I turn it to angle it the best I can and use a clean paint brush to brush those areas while leaving vacuum on to suck up dust that flies while doing this. I would like it to have come with two more attachments, one being a smaller nozzle for small areas and the other being a brush style attachment like regular vacuums have to vacuum the sides of the pellet stove. But overall, this is a great product and I am very pleased with it!Morgan

piece of crap! will try to return. put it together tested it on fireplace ash… filled half way… stopped sucking. Nothing clogged. Went out and dumped the ash outside (to try again) one of the clamps fell off (not gonna find it in ash and grass) they are supposed to be attached… can't find clamp won't suck any ash up. get what you pay for… I just wanted a small one to fit in upstairs closet.auntiepol

Works great! Picked up all the ashes very easily. Canister is lightweight, considering it's all metal. Can handle easily. Not too large, if you have a small space to store. Picked up at Tractor Supply very quickly. Excellent value for the price. I definitely recommend!Carmen
