Best Vacuum For Pellet Stove (2024 Update)

As the other reviews described, this ash vacuum is a little under powered. It does clean out ash from my pellet stove, but pellets that were left fell out of the tube as the suction wasn't strong enough to pull them into the vacuum. Im keeping it because it does clean the ash, and the filters work very well keeping the ash from blowing into the air when using. Its also a well made sturdy metal design.Molson

The Snow Joe ash vacuum is great , especially because I have super fine dust from collecting rocks. The unit is very tight with strong clamps, so the ashes and dust do not escape. To make the vacuum more mobile, I use and extension cord, since there are no wheels on the bottom.Particular Annie

Smaller and easier to use than my two regular shop vacs. The hose thoughtfully is shorter than that of a regular shop vac. A longer hose is not necessary for cleaning a fire place or wood stove and would be a nuisance to deal with. Only two issues at this point. 1) I wish the electric cord was at least two or three feet longer. And 2) the motor only being 5 amps is not very powerful so the suction, while able to get the job done, is relatively weak compared to most other vacuums. It’s as advertised. Has good suction and is not as loud as a regular vacuum. Can hold multiple pellet stove cleanups. Has a unique brush attachment that flips to an open tube. Does not allow ash sparks to fly out of canister like a regular vac does. Has wheels so when your busy with hot stove you don’t have to lift and move or worry about it tipping over if you pull on the hose it moves toward you and doesn’t tip. I bought this last year to clean my pellet stove. I choose a service interval when the stove is not in use for at least 1/2 day and completely cooled. The power is quite low and the motor readily heats up leaving a burning smell. I have to stop the unit several times during the stove clean-up to avoid tripping the overheating limit on the motor. I empty to ash area manually and only use the vacuum to tidy up.WoodeMN

I bought vac 3 years ago worked fine. Next year motor burnt up.Keap in garage. Got another vac worked fine. Put vac in pantry in house over warm months. Moving stove. Got vac out for sheet rock dust. This is an excellent product. The separation system between the air suction and the ash collection section has a broad plastic lip. This lip seals against the closure/motor. This design works. The cost is competitive for this product. We have two other ash vacs from a different manufacturer. The divider does not seal well at all in those machines.Zoro

OK. We have a very large fireplace so might not be issue for everyone but it did overheat before I was totally done cleaning out the ashes. I waited about an hour and then was able to use and finish.Jessica

I purchased this SNOWJOE Ash Vacuum to clean out my pellet stove, which burns sawdust pellets and leaves behind a small amount of ash and burned pellet ash in the burn pot. It has been super handy. The unit is small enough I leave out and next to my pellet stove, so it's ready to go each time I need it. It works efficiently and does a good job sucking everything out. I have found the unit to be well made. I purchased the unit based on price and the reviews from other pellet stove owner/users. The size of the aluminum attachment is big and doesn't get into small areas well, but I turn it to angle it the best I can and use a clean paint brush to brush those areas while leaving vacuum on to suck up dust that flies while doing this. I would like it to have come with two more attachments, one being a smaller nozzle for small areas and the other being a brush style attachment like regular vacuums have to vacuum the sides of the pellet stove. But overall, this is a great product and I am very pleased with it!Morgan

piece of crap! will try to return. put it together tested it on fireplace ash… filled half way… stopped sucking. Nothing clogged. Went out and dumped the ash outside (to try again) one of the clamps fell off (not gonna find it in ash and grass) they are supposed to be attached… can't find clamp won't suck any ash up. get what you pay for… I just wanted a small one to fit in upstairs closet.auntiepol

Works great! Picked up all the ashes very easily. Canister is lightweight, considering it's all metal. Can handle easily. Not too large, if you have a small space to store. Picked up at Tractor Supply very quickly. Excellent value for the price. I definitely recommend!Carmen

I really like the portability and suction of this vac, the one thing I don't like is the hose design. I don't understand why the interior hole for suction is wider than the second hole inside the hose? What this does is plug the hose so you're constantly poking your finger in it so everything will suck into vac. It's like traveling down a 4 lane highway then running into an accident where everything slows down. Not that good for leaves on the firewall of your car. It does better on the carpets where dirt is crumes and dust. Lost a star because off the hose design.Gonzo55

Best feature is the size and weight – so portable and light. Would be nice if the hose stretched a little farther, but then it might not store so neatly. You can't quite reach a full arm's length with it, but still quite handy. The suction seems quite adequate for a small unit (won't rival your shop vac or home vacuum, but good enough for small jobs) Battery removal and charging are easy, and dust cup emptying also easy. Haven't tried cleaning the internal filter yet. Price is higher than cheap handheld units (think DustBuster), but I think it will be much more versatile. I have a plastic wand from a discarded vacuum that will work as an extension. May get a better dusting brush, as this one has very short bristles only on one side (I like old-school brushes).SS in IA

I'm glad I bought this little portable vac. It works great in cleaning my van. I get a lot of fir tree needles on the floor mats. Using high speed setting with the brush was better that using the crevice tool for picking up fir needles. I was surprised the 2Ahr battery last a long time on high vacuum speed. I also used the battery on the Worx small blower to blow fir needles off the van and engine compartment. The blower was great for cleaning out the vacuum waste container and cleaning the vac hepa&metal filter. A great combination of tools.Harry46

Moved from Sweden to US a few months ago and was annoyed with the traditional vacuum cleaner we had here, having having to maneuver a heavy and loud motor and not being able to reach underneath furniture. Was driving me crazy and it felt like it was blowing out more dust than it picked up. The Tritan vacuum is very efficient and I was actually surprised by the high quality and power of the motor considering this is not a very expensive machine. It really does the job and with the included attachments it works for any cleaning need. The only downside to it is that I would have liked the electric cord to be a bit longer for better range, but it works well anyway. Many years ago there was a Swedish brand of Vacuum cleaners called "Elektrolux" and they had a slogan "Nothing sucks like an Elektrolux". I would change that now to "Nothing sucks like a Prolux". 🙂Anthony76

I really wanted to love this vacuum, but will have to return it, in spite of the suction being awesome. The suction is as good or better than my Shark vacuums. I needed a good HEPA canister vacuum that would work well on my hard surface floors, window shades/blinds and walls/ceilings. I was disappointed to find that even though there is a HEPA filter, the bags are not HEPA bags. I haven't determined, yet,if the vacuum is sealed well enough, to avoid dispersing dust back into the room. Additionally, the bristles on the hard floor brush are so stiff and scratchy, I am reluctant to use it on my hardwood floors. Unfortunately, none of my better attachments, from my previous vacuums, fit the Tritan. I need to be able to vacuum my walls and ceilings, but the floor brush is not suitable for that either. I would like to be able to comfortably (and safely) vacuum the tops of door frames and window shades and blinds, without using the extension tube. But , the stiff hose does not stretch and is too short to directly attach the dust brush and reach overhead, to the top of my door frames. Back to the drawing board for me, as the Tritan Canister is just not suitable for my needs.C.B.

When I moved and left behind my latest upright as a gift to the buyer of my house, I had to find a new vacuum. One that would last. One that could suck up dog hair from my Australian Shepherd. One that was maneuverable and could also clean my truck's interior. When I saw the ad for the Prolux Triton I was taken by how absolutely cute it is. I love its retro looks, like a 50's space ship with chrome and a sleek shape. I love the design of the retractable cord, its maneuverability and the very very powerful motor. This is to replace my first upright vacuum (a Dyson). I just never got used to it having decades of canister vacuum experience. The upright had good power and did floors very nicely but I had issues with the pull out extension. I considered other bagless vacuums but because I like the Dyson upright performance I opted to get this new CY18 canister and it is impressive. It has lots of suction and is one of the quietest vacuums I have owned. I can use the tools directly attached to the flexible hose handle which is what I wanted and it follows like a well mannered dog on a leash unlike my last canister was just the opposite and fought me every inch of the way. I vacuumed the whole house as soon as I got it and it's always surprising how much fine dirt these things pick up.g_ldboise

First, I should say that I am the mother of four fur babies, 2 cats and 2 big dogs. Then, when my boyfriend stays over on the weekends, he adds his 2 more dogs (one big and one small) to the mix. Between the 6 animals and my long hair, you can imagine how much hair is on my floors at any given time. For my entire life, growing up at home and after I moved out, I have always used a shop vac with a pool hose and a long metal pole with a brush head; which my dad created. We always hated the awkwardness of upright vacuums and the spinning heads just never worked on hard floors. After buying shop vacs every few years, because they are cheap and the motor blows, I decided to try the Dyson Cinetic Animal Canister. Thankfully, Dyson was offering $100 off; then with my BB&B coupon and cashback credit card bonuses, I ended up getting this thing for the same price as a normal vacuum costs. After one use, I completely fell in love with this machine! There are some flaws, but the good outweighs the bad in my book. Here are a list of pros and cons that I have encountered while using this machine over the past few months. Pros: • Whole-machine HEPA filtration and Certified asthma & allergy friendly! Woo no smells from the expelled air! My boyfriend really appreciates this aspect! He has horrible allergies, especially because of the cats. After purchasing this vacuum, he can breathe so much better at my house! • No filters to wash or buy! • Holy suction Batman! This thing is crazy powerful. • Suction release trigger for when it eats something it shouldn’t, like curtains. • Tangle free turbine tool worked so well that my boyfriend wanted to vacuum the cats with it! Don’t worry, I didn’t let him. This think works wonders on the carpeted cat-stle (what I call the cat castle or cat tree). • Long wand for hard to reach places. • Everything detaches so easily and the tools fit anywhere on the hose or wand. This makes it so simple to go from top to bottom, vacuuming everything in the room. I can do the ceilings, vents, fans, curtains, windows, base boards and floors! • 21.3 ft power cord and automatic rewind…amazing. • Light weight (because you are only having to lift the wand and attachments, not the entire machine. • Can get under furniture and those hard to reach places…like the ceiling! Good luck trying to get your upright vacuum on the ceiling….or the fans. • I don’t have carpet, and I don’t know who in their right mind would have carpet with animals, but the vacuum worked just fine on my low pile rugs. • Some people say that this thing is awkward to pull around because it is a canister. While that is probably true for someone who typically uses an upright, it is way better than the shop vacs that I have had. I don’t find this thing awkward at all, but I am use to pulling behind a canister. Cons: • Canister waaaaaay to small. To give you an idea, I vacuumed my 1400sq ft home, with one weeks worth of hair and needed to empty the bin 5 times. I wish it was bigger and held more. To combat this, I take my big janitor mop (the ones they use in schools), push it around the house for literally a minute. Then I vacuum. This allows me to pick up the hair and big debris (because my dogs have these big plastic bones that they chew) all at once so that I only have to empty the vacuum once. My boyfriend thinks that a vacuum that is so expensive should require no prep work, but I honestly did this with my shop vac too. It makes vacuuming so much easier and quicker. • Emptying the bin is not as simple as they make you believe. Yes, you push the button, but the door swings down and hangs in the way. The dirt gets all over the hanging door. Then you have to use the provided tool to unstick the hair from the sides of the canister, while the door flaps in your way. The instructions say to minimize dust/allergen contact, encase the bin tightly in a plastic bag. Well this doesn’t work because the above happens. I found the easiest way to empty the bin is to go outside to my large garbage can. • The combination tool is a horrible design. Instead of being two pieces, the small brush slides up and down on the thin wand. I wish the small brush was detachable, because when I use the thin wand to get in cracks (like between the couch cushions), the brush is in the way and the bristles get destroyed. • The wheels on the bottom of the canister roll ok, but for the ridiculous price of the machine, they suck. They should have used the same material as you would find on rollerblade wheels. • Instead of being power controlled, the rotating head rotates due to the suction. I wish there was a way to lock the head in place so that it does not rotate. It sucks up cat litter with no problem, but sometimes, it flings a few pieces out. I typically just detach the head and just use the suction. I think I might buy the alternate head that doesn’t spin. • I found the attachment storage to be random and awkward. Ok I broke down and purchased a Dyson after reading many positive reviews but to be honest this vacuum has not won me over in the last 9 months. The suction is adequate but I am not impressed with the turbo brush on carpets. I have hardwood floors with area rugs in most rooms and the articulating hard floor tool is excellent and mandatory for cleaning in my estimation. The cord is a good length and the tools are well designed and work well. I have to empty the bin once or twice while cleaning 1400 sq. foot home. I have come to dislike emptying the bin. The dirt and dust seems to cling to the bin like there is an electrostatic charge on the plastic and I have to use a paintbrush to get it moderately clean or wash it the sink to get it really clean. After a lifetime of using a bagged vacuum where you just change a bag I fear this bag-less vacuum is just not my cup of tea. I only wished I brought this back in the return timeframe and selected another brand/machine!Telrandy

Pretty good, but not without some relatively minor flaws. Battery life is respectable, very powerful for its size. Presumably because of how low the filter housing sits in the dust canister, it clogs up beyond use long before you are anywhere close to collecting anything significant in the dust canister. The first few times I went to vacuum saw dust, I could hear the filter getting clogged, opened the canister and it was almost entirely empty, not even a small layer of material. However I shook out the filter into the dust canister and left quite a size-able pile. I understand this unit was meant for small cleanup jobs, not heavy duty, but I can help but think a small diverter installed at the inlet tube, or around the lower half of the filter itself would help this issue significantly. I will continue to use this vacuum, but it could have been a leap above the rest if this small issue was addressed.Charl C

FWIW, I have the Ryobi 18v vac also, so my expectations were it would be the same. It’s not, not only is it a cool as heck brick that works with the system I don’t have, but it sucks…. Pun intended, it truly does suck better than the Ryobi, I can suck up nails, screws, rocks and all sorts of heavier stuff that my other struggles with even on a clean filter. But the best part is how darn compact it is, the hose embeds in the side like some parasite and you can switch input to output giving you the ability to air up a boat inner tube in like 2.3 seconds. This is a nice little vacuum – it has a ton of suction, WAY more than my old yellow 18v vacuums, even on 110v… very compact, easy to use. I am giving it three stars because the lid is flimsy. It actually arrived broken… even a little pressure from something on top of it distorts the plastic and pushes it down and out. The other side is showing signs of fatigue as well. Secondly, the lid latches are incredibly fragile. I am almost afraid to latch/unlatch them…. they just feel cheap. The latches on the bottom container are almost as bad and I fully expect that they will not last long. Just thin, cheap plastic. Lastly… why would you NOT mold Packout feet onto the bottom? Total swing and a miss here that would cost you nothing and make the tool way more functional.5oh86

If you like gadgets within your home to make housework easy then this is a great product. It saves bending down with a dust pan and brush, and then theres the hose extension should you not want to use a broom. I love it, some may say its a bit extra, but I dont want to spend a lot of time on housework so any little thing to help is a winner for me!msgrateful

Was unsure wether this was going to be just a gimmick but a took a gamble. The Vac arrived extremely well packaged 10 out of 10 for that, the instructions were clear and concise however installation was not as straight forward, Use the template but also measure it to be on the safe side. The accompanying hose and tools are of a very good quality and the hose is a great length. My 84 year old mother lives with us and she says its the best thing ever! Cant stop her sweeping the floor. When the Raycop arrived, I thought I'd be sending it back. Why? Because with four cats, I vacuum all my upholstered furniture with the Dyson every week and am not a fan of anything with a UV light. However, after going over my sectional and seeing what the Raycop picked up, I was impressed. The little filter was full of stuff that I assume was dust mites and their debris. I didn't read the part of the instructions that said to clean the dust filter, remove the clear dust box, submerge it in water, remove the dust filter under water so as not to release the debris back into the air. So when I took out the dry filter and began to clean it, I started with sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes. This thing absolutely picked up allergens like dust mites. I was sold. The safety features for the UV light calmed my fears about it because when the machine loses contact with the surface being cleaned, the light shuts off automatically. This little machine is now part of my cleaning routine. It takes a bit more time to use it than vacuuming but the results are well worth it.Wilhelmina

Who has time to hold this in one spot for 3 minutes to remove 90% dust particles? Even holding it in one spot for 10 seconds so the UV light is over a very small area, it would take hours just to clean a mattress surface. I used this once on my mattress pad, moving very slowly. All I got were tiny little fibers from the cloth. Nothing that looked like dust or tiny tiny remains of dust mites. I think this is a lot of hype that people are falling for (I did), but without a microscope, how does anyone really know if this is killing and pulling out dust mites from anything. Perhaps a good vacuum but not sure any better than a really good vac that you may already have. Now I must pay a small fortune to return this thing. My stupid mistake.mkmtd

Pros: Nice and light and portable. Does not tip over like the standard Henry. Adequate on carpets with no pile using brush facility. Cons: Suction is appalling. No use if you have to Hoover a lot of animal hair, just blows hair about and redeposits it elsewhere. Battery life poor, one full battery is not sufficient for the downstairs of a small two up two down. Takes about 3 hours to charge, which is a long time considering the battery life. Metal tubing comes apart mid vacuum, which is annoying. Regret buying.Gilly

LOVE Henry/Harry!!! Friendly little chap with a FEROCIOUS appetite. He's the vacuum we should have purchased YEARS ago, instead of all those bagless, horrifyingly expensive uprights, promising to be all we needed to keep our home clean and quickly proving they just weren't up to the job. One of the most amazing points about Harry is that he doesn't blow "wet dog" odours back out as he vacuums. Now the carpets not only look spotless again but the rooms smell fresh thanks to his charcoal filter. The electric lead is really long and the dust bag is massive so, all in all, no need to keep stopping to find another socket to plug in to, rarely having to fit a new dust bag and no stopping to pull dog hair out of his special "fur" attachment, because he just keeps going.AMAZING!!!We've fallen in love with Harry. Pros: Tube too long for me as I am short, but you can remove one piece of the metal tube to reduce length. British made. Previously had two small cheap (<£70) hepa 'Hoover' cylinder vacuums which funnily enough failed two months after warranty each time! Wanted new hoover to last much longer to be kinder to landfill (eco reasons) and it seems robust enough to last longer than 2-3 years, time will tell.There must be a reason why cleaners and builders routinely choose this brand!Great suction including large bits of kiddie-crumbs. Very long lead mitigates extra weight on stairs and less time changing plug sockets. Cons: Heavier than last vacuum (it'd be hard not to be, to be fair, as last ones were light). A bit cumbersome on stairs but long lead helps with that.L

Bought this vacuum to clean out my pellet stove. Unit shut-off after a couple minutes of usage. Checked electric socket and breaker, everything was good to go. 15 mins later tried, and it turn off within 60 seconds. Not sure if it’s a wiring issue or over heating. The vacuum has low suction and overheats very quickly, but that is not completely unexpected given the dual filters, so I can live with that. What doesnt work is the horrible quality of the pre-filter. I'm on my second vac, the first the pre-filter fell apart after about 5 uses, allowing warm ash to melt the main filter spew ash from the exhaust. My local tractor supply was nice enough to exchange the whole unit for me. The pre-filter that came with the new unit had such shoddy stitching that it was basicly falling apart before ever being used. Sure enough after just a single use the stitching was failing in some spots, and I was forced the reinforce it with copious amounts of duct tape. The company did offer to send replacements with no questions asked which is great, but it would be better to avoid this problem in the first place. It would also be smart if they sold the pre-filter separately since this is what comes in direct contact with the warm ash and debris, and will always be the first part to fail, but sadly they dont.Little Bits Farm

My first one over heated and stopped working within minutes. I called the company and the graciously sent a brand new one. I’ve had that one still in the box until today, opened it and started using it. Two minutes later it over heated I’m guessing and stopped working. Will not turn on again. So two don’t work! Called United States Stove Co. and I need to ship it back at my cost !!! Why if their product fails do I need to pay to get it replaced.
My advice, Do Not purchase this product. United States Stove Co. won’t cover the warranty.
This is not a inexpensive item.
The person on the phone actually said that they have heard of problems with this

The vacuum is really well made and has great suction. I would like a longer nozzle for vacuuming unused pellets from my upright smoker but other than that it's great.Ronald

I did not realize cleaning my pellet stove would become one of my favorite things to do, but it is incredibly satisfying. I love all the attachments, and it makes the stove burn better. I have been using my Craftsman 5 Gallon 3.0 peak HP Ash Vacuum for about a month now. I like that it’s medal and well made. Was easy to put together and isn’t bulky or heavy to carry around. I have a fire place in my house and also have a fire pit in my back yard. So this craftsman ash vac is a wonderful addition for my cleaning. I love that it had a light on it making it easier to see ash in areas of my house fire place. Also love that it has a filter. I slowly vacuum up the ash a little at a time so that the ash flows smoothly into the vacuum and have no problems with clean up. I love it and as always Craftsman didn’t let me down!Mistymango62

Craftsman 5 GAL 3.0 Peak HP Ash Vacuum has proven very effective in cleaning up my ashes. The 5 gal container makes it a breeze to clean up a large amount. The unit comes equipped with a hepa filter and that prevents pollutants from re-entering the atmosphere. I suffer from allergies and typically whenever I clean my chimney or the grill I tend to sneeze or become congested, this vacuum has drastically reduced those reactions. I will now look forward to cleaning my chimney and grill. I also use the vacuum in my car, and yes it works just as well. I did however give it four stars because it doesn’t have wheels. I have arthritis and the fact that I have to pick this vacuum up when it is full is no joke. I wish it had wheels or even the capability of buying a wheel attachment. With the being said it is mainly made from plastic however some of the parts are metal. It is a dry vac only. It feels durable and the suction power is absolutely powerful and effective. It has roughly a six foot cord, so for large surface areas have an extension cord handy. Overall I am happy with the vacuum and hope to push the limits on what it can vacuum up.Mommydaddy777

Overall a solid vacuum. I bought a pellet stove and it constantly needs to be cleaned. This helps me clean up all the ashes and it works well. One thing I would suggest to Craftsman is to put some wheels on the vacuum to make it easier to move. Perhaps a longer hose but there might be a reason the hose is short.anonymous
