20 Best Vacuum For Stairs With Carpet (Feb 2023 Update)

I had seen the good reviews about this vacuum and finally ordered it when we moved: our new house had a mix of thick carpet, linoleum, and wood floors and my old vacuum wasn't going to cut it.Best of all – it's really pretty quiet! It seriously feels like a toy since it's such a fun little hard worker. Yes, some things could be better. The cord wrap is a bit awkward. The hook that keeps the cord off the ground is too wide and the cord falls out. But those are minor pains compared to how awesome this vacuum is. One warning: the first time I tried to remove the canister to empty it I did manage to empty the canister all over the floor. Whoops! Good thing my awesome vacuum could clean it all up again!samiha.i

I have had this vacuum for 15 years, suction is great and never had to replace any filters. I just wash them out once every 2 -3 months, even wash out the canister, the only thing I have done to this vacuum is repeatedly cut hair off the rollers since everyone in my household has long hair except me. I finally am going to purchase new sponge and HEPA filters, the old filters are getting a little rough. This vacuum still works great and we still keep using. Totally worth the price. Plan on keeping this vacuum. I am getting ready to purchase the newer SharkNinja with Duo Cleaning to keep the hair from twisting around the brushes. love my Shark vacuumscsvette

I’ve used MANY vacuums in my life. I’ve used Eureka, Kirby, Bissell, Oreck, Hoover, and several others. This is by far the BEST vacuum. The attachments make sense and are very practical. The vacuum pulls lots of dirt out of the carpet that other vacuums cannot do. I vacuumed my carpet with a Bissell. Afterwards, I vacuumed again with my Shark, the Shark continued to pull lots of dust out of the carpet. I am amazed at the quality. Considering the quality, the price is good!kasi.s

Shark Rocket Pro Corded Stick Vacuum is light weight & really easy to remove the canister from the stick stick. Glides nicely over our entire house which has mostly wood floors and tile, but did well on multiple rugs with different pile heights. It even comes with attachments to clean the stairs, furniture or our SUV & truck. We had a different cordless one but needed a vacuum we didn’t have to worry about running out of battery 1/2 way through our home. The cord is super long so that helps us from having to re-plug every few feet. The dust compartment is simple to empty and clean out with a press of a button. We have 2 dogs and 4 kids so we’re constantly vacuuming, the power is awesome and it’s convenient to easily unload the debris. It’s lightweight too, so it’s easy for me to move around the house without it being a hassle. There is a little downside to it, which is that it doesn’t stand on its own, so you’ll have to either prop it on something or fold it (which is easy) in order to do something else if needed while vacuuming. So I’m taking it down a star for that since I do have to stop and pick up toys etc having kids & pets constantly playing.Heathermthomas

The Shark Rocket Pro, picks up VERY well. The area I first vacuumed with it, was a area that had been vacuumed the day before. Within five minutes, the Shark had picked up A LOT more. The vacuum was easy to assemble and the attachment comes apart easily to be able to vacuum the ceiling and other had to get to areas. The Shark glides across any floor easily and turns easily. The only drawback I found with this Shark machine was the motor was near the top of the handle and it made the machine top heavy. It doesn’t stand on it’s own. There are two small attachments that didn’t have anywhere to attach to the machine, that I could find. But, as well as this machine works, I find these to be minor problems. As you can see from the photo, it picked up quite a bit after only a five minute vacuum. I have animals and cleaning hair has always been a problem.adcatex6

This Shark Rocket Pro Corded Stick Vacuum works GREAT ! I really like how light weight it is, I can very easily maneuver it around the house with little effort and let me say how GREAT it picks up all the dirt and debris from my floors. My carpets are much cleaner/fluffy and my hardwood floors are cleaned better than when I sweep. I am very excited and satisfied at how much debris/hair/dust/dirt was in the debris container. This vacuum has PLENTY of attachments that I can use on my stairs and I'll even be cleaning my curtains and window seals. As small as this vacuum is, is does the job QUICKLY and very EFFECTIVELY, much much better than my current canister vacuum. This Shark Rocket Pro Corded Stick Vacuum is much quieter and very stronger in terms of suction than ANY vacuum I've ever owned. I went from 45 minutes of vacuuming to 15 minutes, WHAT A GREAT IMPROVEMENT ! I am a highly experienced electronic repair technician. I just rebuilt a Shark Rotator Professional lift-away vacuum. Of course users fail to replace or clean all three filters causing loss of suction. Cleaning these with warm water and dawn dish soap works best. The unit claims to have thermal monitoring protection on the brush roll base and its design is causing the complaints of failure to work on carpeting in consumer homes. There is no thermal sensor. It uses a D.C. motor to a circuit board where a series low ohm current drop resistor exists. When the motor is slowed , thwe motor draws more current which lowers the resistence in the moter resistor series circuit causing increased voltage drop on the resistor triggering the circuit and activating the motors disconnect relay turning off motor. Although it does much to protect the motor in case of armature freezing with current applied. It makes the consumer unhappy because they cant vacuum carpets as they expect to paying almost 400 dollars for this nice vacuum. The fast fix is simply taking a soldering iron and lifting on side of the feed back silicon diode and reassembling unit. Now you will find the brush roll attachment actually works and does an awesome cleaning job on any carpet. Be sure to use caution and not pick up things that will jam the brush roller and break the belt. If this happens please turn off vacuum unplug and remove obstruction from brush roller. Then plug back in and finish vacuuming. I hope this helps others, mine is now issue less and working awesome.MissTiffany2025

Okay, this vacuum cleaner is actually FUN to run! It’s lightweight and very flexible. The long wand makes getting corners, cracks and crevices a breeze. Only drawback is the base will tip over if you stretch the hose too far, so keep an eye on it as you use the wand. Cleaning stairs is easy with the “Lift Away” feature. The NV501 has strong suction and durability. Do your regular maintenance as other reviews have mentioned, and store it properly. It’s super easy to take apart when needed. I accidentally sucked up a microfiber cloth once, but was able to open the hose at the right spot and pull the cloth right out. We’ve had our NV501 for almost a decade and still no problems. Have purchased this particular model as gifts for friends and family. Highly recommended.DB

I’ve had this model for about 5 years and yes occasionally you’ll have to cut some hair off the powdered brush if you have long hair or girls around or just heavy traffic I guess but that takes literally 20 seconds. Grab a pair of scissors, cut the hair and pull it out. Any vacuum with a brush is going to eventually wrap up hair! The vacuum has one killer motor, it cleans like nothing I’ve ever seen. I’m continuously impressed by the vast amount of dander, dust, and allergens it grabs every single time! I love how the handle comes off to clean small areas such as my couch cushions, behind furniture, etc. (I have this model which cane with ALL the attachments so I may have paid a bit more but it was definitely worth it) the only other difference is the colors. Mine has dark blue where the red is shown. I absolutely love how I can detach the base when going up stairs as shown in the photo. I don’t use the tiny “car part cleaners” which also came with the bulk of attachments but I guess it’s there if I were to ever need it. My fav attachment is the smaller roller brush that literally eats every cat hair off my dining room chairs and wherever else I need it. Anyway I suppose I could go on but you get my drift. By the way of course after awhile the vacuum will accumulate dust around the base and hose (I’ve seen someone post photos here of their dirty vacuum lol) but it’s a vacuum! It’s going to get dirty! My last thought pertains to the newest model I believe, the NV1000 with the “self cleaning brush” or double brush very bulky looking one. Although I haven’t used it, I personally don’t think it is going to sell much in the end. I say that with regards to the current reviews and complaints along with the marketing aspect in mind. What I conclude is just logical: once again as long as there is a revolving brush or in this case 2 rolling brushes, in time there WILL BE a hair issue as long as there are women, girls, and pets around. I’ve spent several hours of research, this is the Best Bang for the Buck. Do yourself a favor, buy it!!! Read the reviews later. I had not “vaccumed” my stairs in over 3 months as my DYSON DC33 died after several years. I did many hours of research and the Shark brands would be up there with Dyson in most comparisons. I was considering the Dyson Animal but it wouldn’t be less than $500, now Dyson is actual on sale for $350. Prior to writing this review after thorough research and also comparing the Shark Apex Duo Clean, I ended up with this one for $229, I was about to buy it for $279 and it won’t on sale next week. Anyhow just see how much dirt it picked up from the stair case. I only did about 7 of them and my dust-bin is super filthy. Although it might not me a fair comparison with the Dyson DC33 (that died) I’m certain it never sucked like this. This is the most powerful vaccum I have ever experienced. Now let’s talk about build quality, the accessories definitely feel inferior in contrast to a Dyson, so I don’t know about the longevity of this. I also did notice lot of reviewers complained about the pole or the main handle that goes behind the vaccum, that also is hollow and feels like it won’t last too long, but it works great I couldn’t be happier. In all honesty you do not need to spend $400-500. Some reviews say the Apex Duo Clean with 2 roller brushes doesn’t pick up as well as this. I’ve only tried the stairs, I will edit my review if needed. I will have to try on tiles/ hard floor.DmnTrd40

I have been a shark customer for a very long time. I have the power lift-away from years ago and the things runs like a champ. However, I saw this one and thought WOW no more cutting the dog hair from the wheel and an XL cup will save me so..much..time! I would say overall it's definitely a good vacuum BUT I miss features from my other one that make me sad when I pull this one out of the closet. I do still have the other so I can use both. Pros: Lightweight- for a large vacuum, this is very easy to lift XL Cup- definitely helps when you have 2 very large furry dogs Long Hose-ish- long but doesn't reach like it states Super Sucker- I did think the suction was very good on getting up massive amounts of dog hair (Border Collie/Newfoundland and Great Pyrenees/Aussie mix) Cons: No Lift-Away- Doesn't seem like that big of a deal until you are going up and down the stairs or reaching into vaulted ceilings, the canister doesn't fall over No Light- again not a HUGE deal but seeing dust bunnies run from you was easier with a light Hose- The hose states it'll reach 12' making stairs easy but let me tell you, it does not even come close. Like mentioned above, once you get hose fully extended you need something to weigh it down so it doesn't fall over from over extension Accessories- My liftaway had a ton of accessories for options i.e. stair brushroll, and a few others but let's stick with that one. For a machine that claims it's turbo power for pets to not provide a stair brushroll seems silly, I have tried to rig my old one to fit my new machine and it works just ok, I end up using my old vacuum to do the stairs ugh. Self Cleaning Brushroll- seems ok for now but still have hair wrapped around it that i'm sure I'll have to cut off. Got this to replace a 15+ year old upright, and I am shocked at how much technology has improved! This is a fraction of the weight, quieter, stronger, more maneuverable, and easier to clean out. The old one had the yellow plastic filter tucked up inside the machine where it was a serious pain to blindly get back in place. I love the ability to vary suction power both on the vacuum and the attachment. (I love the two-in-one attachment.) I gave our place a much-needed vacuuming and was horrified/quite pleased with the amount of awfulness this bad boy cleaned up. After the first time I used this, there was a lot of hair wrapped around the brush. I was initially concerned, but then I decided to trust the instructions (and test the product) and waited until after using it some more to see if it cleaned itself. And it did! I was happy to see the claim fulfilled in at least that one instance.Sherwood

Not sure yet how to rate this vacuum. I recently bought this model as a replacement for model nv681. I like the features of the Shark vacuum, but it didn't last the full 5 years. It began literally falling apart after about 4 and one half years. The brush roller is literally hanging on by a thread. I hope the new one holds up better and longer that my first one, and performs at least as well as the first model. Also the customer service for Shark needs much improvement. When I called to get some answers, I got a major run around. There is no one to talk to when trying to get answers about problems. I would recommend this vacuum with reservations.Rita

I am a vacuuming obsessed weirdo! I just love to vacuum for some reason. I love the before and after and love the feeling of having a nice clean floor. That being said I tried out all kinds of other vacuums while never really finding one that was great until I bought this vacuum. It's got everything I wanted in a vacuum! I should have known to stick with Shark because I have an old lift away professional that I've had for well over 10 years!. It's even still going strong after all the abuse I've put it through but it's just time for a new one. Only reason I tried switching brands is because the upright sharks are quite heavy and I now have stairs in my place that are hard to clean witha a heavy uptight.. After multiple failures with other popular brands I found this one that converts into a canister vac making it much lighter to use on stairs. I'm in love with this thing. It works so well and it's super powerful with all the bells and whistles that I could ask for. The LED lighting on the pull out wand is a huge plus! Lights up anything I'm trying to vacuum. I vacuumed my bedroom soon as I got it right after vacuuming with a popular Eureka that I had previously bought and it was amazing what this vacuum picked up that was left behind by the Eureka. We bought this 3 years ago and the hose split along the ridges. We use it less then the recommended cleaning regimen that carpet manufacturers recommend (daily). Shark claims it's not under the 7 year warranty because we sweep to much.

If your product can't hold up to reasonable use then it's worthless and I'm taking my business elsewhere.

I also find all the nooks and crannies this vacuum has hard to keep clean (canister, wand attachment for furniture top guard thing)

Replacement parts are unreasonably priced with the company's less then expected life expectancy.Patient Farmer

The only way I can get it to do anything is to use remove the hose and the attachments. The actual suction when using it upright is terrible. It vibrates like a dolphining F1 race car, makes a hideous popping and hissing sound from the side, and worst of all, leaves fuzz, dirt , and giant hard balls of lint all over my floors rather than actually cleaning them. Using this vacuum is more work than simply using a broom and a hand held dirt Devil. Customer service was helpful in trying to fix the issues but the suggested solve didn't work. The vacuum is a lemon…complete waste of the time and money spent.Card Lady

It does quality performing for pet hair to include the turbo extension tool for upholstery. DO READ ALL the instructions so you know how to properly use it. Don't assume! The tools are ill placed with the placement and storage of the electrical cord (always falling off). The telescope for the hose to attachments doesn't lock properly and always ALWAYS pushing back in. I don't have an issue with pet hair on the roller getting stuck, but I do with human hair and any amount of length to trash. The spot where the hose connects to the canister is constantly getting clogged because it is small and narrow, needs to be wider. Pay CLOSE attention when taking the filter out of the canister and putting it back; there is a reason it is meticulously marked. The alignment must be perfect or it won't go back together properly; this is the same for everything on the vacuum. Hard to push when vacuuming (hence one of the reasons I said to read instructions carefully)? You have to provide some air to release the amount of suction, so it moves easier with the little knob on the left; by the way, it moves also on its own.feltermail

Within 1 minute of its' first use this model #2475 Pet Hair Eraser Turbo had its' brush roll stop spinning before a small 10×10 foot area was complete. The belt assembly is centre mounted so debris from both sides of the brush roll collects towards its' centralized belt motor which sits open with nothing to protect it from debris. This results in it being the furthest thing from the "tangle free" unit it is advertised as. Removal of the head screws holding the bottom cover in place is quite easy so I was able to see what was causing the jam (see picture attached). The manufacturer claims the unit can accept hair length of 4-8 inches. The longest of the hairs in this pictures is 3 inches, so the job in question should have been well within the manufacturer's guidelines. Upon reassembling the base the unit promptly got jammed a second time. After once again removing the clog I decided to give it a different task, cleaning hardwood. This unit has a key feature for those with hardwood floors, its' brush can turn on/off, saving your hardwood from being scratched by the roller. Sadly there is very little suction (see video attached). I found without the brush roll spinning the machine picks up essentially nothing. The last major feature this unit is its' heavily marked "pet hair eraser" attachments. The Pet Turbo Eraser" is nothing more than the same "turbo brush" or "handi-mate" that has been commonplace on vacuum's since the 1950's. The "two in one" pet brush is a traditional fabric brush as is the crevice tool. There is nothing fundamentally different with these attachments than what is industry standard from most vacuum suppliers. I've had Bissell units before, the last being the significantly cheaper "Clearview Alergen Lift-Off Pet Upright Vaccuum." It lasted 2 years before dying a few weeks after its warranty expired precipitating the purchase of this Turbo model. All in all a poor vacuum. Don't buy this.Jimmy

Very powerful, light and maneuverable, the brush is driven by a separate motor, seams like a great design, but the brush allows hair to get right into the Barrings!!! I removed and cleaned the brush after 2nd use, found that some pet and human hair had gotten into the Barring, melted the barring cap and housing. the third use the brush stopped before i was done as it was bound up. I only used it for the upstairs of my house. I'll call support to try to get another brush, but how long will the last? after years of well designed brushes, WHAT Happened? were they lasting too long?DAVID

My little dog sheds an unbelievable amount of fur. I use this throughout my home. The best things about this product are: 1) strong motor; 2) it's lightweight; 3) the attachment hose is long enough that the vacuum doesn't collapse when in use; 3) disassembling the unit to clean is very easy, assembling is also very easy. I bought a well-advertised competitive pet vacuum during the pandemic shutdown. It caused me nothing but grief. I don't have the strong hands of a 20-year old any longer, so I dreaded having to clean the canister. There were times I broke into tears of frustration because I just didn't have the strength to move the parts in the same directions. (I put that product up on the neighborhood website "for sale" section, reducing my purchase price by 2/3. Still no takers.) I need a clean house. The extension hose is hardly long enough. The attachment to get under furniture has no maneuverability to the point you need to get down on your hands and knees to use it. The latch on the base to change the angle is made of plastic and needs to be pushed several times to work… it's a matter of time before it breaks. And this is standard to all models. I was unable to release it with my foot and had to bend over and use my hand to adjust the vacuum. To use the wand, you need to disconnect the hose from the electrical cable. The brush attached to the wand makes the wand/hose heavier than it should be to use.Unsatisfied customer

I like the tools that come with this vacuum. There is a detail tool, dusting tool, and a tool for stairs with a rotating brush that picks up everything. It's so easy to switch out the tools and clean faster. The handle bar stretches far so I was able to use the detail tool to get spider webs from the ceiling and the duster tool to reach and clean the vents up high. You really have to clean your vents. I also used the detail tool to get on top of my door frames and the corners of rooms and stairs. Then I popped on the stair tool and finished the stairs. It made cleaning very fast and easy. This vacuum also has a spinning brush for carpets that is great because it helps pick up stuff deep down in the carpet. You can turn it off when on bare floors. It is amazing at picking up pet hair. It took no effort collecting a bunch of hair from my stairs and carpet. The only downside I can think of is that it is heavier than my last vacuum which makes carrying it upstairs harder but that's all. This is a great vacuum that cuts cleaning time in half.Cutechica1983

This is one of those purchases where you will be astounded by the performance compared to your initial expectations. As soon as removed the vacuum from the box, my expectations started to sink into my stomach a bit. The vacuum was light, and I thought to myself, "oh no, another cheap piece of plastic". Assembly though, was simple and easy. No tools required, which is great! As simple as plug and play. Within minutes, I was ready to test drive. Again, at first glance, you are definitely thinking this is a cheap, plastic vacuum. It even feels kind of cheap as you turn the selector to the appropriate height of your carpet. But through a couple of uses, i noticed this, with the handle in the upright positions, the selector moves quite freely, giving that cheap feeling, but with the handle down in the position ready to use, the knob now has the tension of vacuum's adjustment positions. You can select Hard, Low, Medium, and High. This took me a few uses to get use to, and it will you as well, because the performance depends on having this adjusted correctly. I found that too low, and the vacuum was dragging across the carpet, which made it feel heavy to push. But too high, and you were not getting that deep down clean that you want. So I highly suggest giving a few turns on different positions to see what works best for you. With that being said though, once you plug this vacuum in and turn it on, you will know why it is called the Pet Max. The powerful engine soon made up for those sinking expectations. After a few rows of vacuuming, and adjusting the height, I started to see a major difference in the performance of this vacuum compared to my higher end vacuum. The brush is amazing, it pulls from deep in the carpets to extract pesky pet hair. I was amazed, and appalled at the pet hair it was starting to collect in the container. Which by the way, is a blessing. My wife and I have 4 fur babies, dogs to be exact. And they range from short hair to long hair. And all the rooms that have carpet in them, we would have to empty the container after every room. The pet max comes with a large debris container, and the powerful engine delivers cyclonic action no matter how full it gets! That is literally the best part about the vacuum. No matter how full the container got, the performance did not lessen at all! I was very pleased with this purchase. And I almost forgot, the vacuum comes with two hepa filters!!!!! Vacuum worked in steaks so you have to run it over the same spot over and over to get the whole even just a small area. The pet hair attachment broke pretty quickly after purchase. The accordion tubing connecting the arm tore in multiple places, we had to tape it repeatedly to retain suction because it kept breaking in different places. We have two huskies and vacuum like 2-3 times a week so it’s not like we used it incessantly. The final straw was another broken spot in the tubing which then kept disconnecting from the handheld attachment. Overall, did not stand up to any normal wear and tear, not sustainable for the price. You will be amazed how much your previous vacuum has missed once you start using this wonder. We have two cats and three dogs-a golden retriever and border collie who are shed machines-and I seemed to be constantly chasing hair tumbleweeds. The first time I used the vacuum on my 9x7rug, I had to empty the canister twice. That would have been two bags with the last vacuum. There are three sections the dirt goes in and I have to clean all three out each week, not just the one section it's supposed to go into. The cat hair stays at the top, so I have to remove the middle section with the dirt then stick my hand up to take out the top cylinder and get it out to clean, dumping dust and other things all over the place in the process. makes a terrible noise the whole time. Other vacuums we have had we had to wash out the filters every few months – this one it's once a week. And that is all just for our home use, where we vacuum no more than twice a week and usually less than that!rf

We purchased the Shark corded stick model at Target a few years ago. At first it was great, and I recommend it for smaller houses or apartments since it's lightweight and small. It's powerful for its size. But it's not super durable. From what I've read, Shark doesn't make many replacement parts and there aren't many opportunities to repair their products. After about 2 years, several important parts were broken, including the hinge holding the dust cup together. We've been using packing tape to hold together the dust cup, and we have to cut off the tape to empty it and then re-tape it shut every time. Also the main little interior hose at the bottom that connects the head to the stick cracked wide open. The brush gets wrapped with long hair easily. The suction is pretty bad now, probably because of all these issues. Overall pros: It's great on wood floors, good on rugs, and works well while it lasts. Lightweight and easy to maneuver and carry up stairs. I like the attachments and they're easy to use. Long cord. Bagless is more environmentally friendly, although it's best to empty it into a plastic bag anyways. It's a good deal when it's on sale for $100. Overall cons: Doesn't stand up on its own. Cheaply made. The dust bin is really small. It's a hassle to empty the dust bin because you have to unplug the whole vacuum and carry the entire cord out to the trash can with you to empty the cup. Also, bagless vacuums just seem dirtier to me since the dust and hair isn't actually contained. It's always gross emptying it and trying to avoid the cloud of crap flying up at you. It is amazing honestly. We vacuumed our carpets with our old Shark right before we went to Target to look for a new one. We came home and vacuumed again over all of it. The canister filled up TWICE. I was mortified lol. This vacuum has powerful suction and harder tips on the roller that RAKE the carpet and get the film of dog hair out of my thick plush carpeting. I’m not lying. If I was unimpressed, I would tell you so! You DO have to empty the canister more than you would any other vacuum because it is small. If you are continuously vacuuming every room in your house and not emptying, you are going to put extra stress on the motor. It IS a stick vacuum. If you need heavy duty, 5-6 rooms at a time vacuuming, this isn’t your vacuum. I had to empty after EACH room because my vacuum obviously wasn’t doing its job. But I expect next time I won’t (I hope) because I will be pulling out the vacuum daily and keeping the dirt to a minimal in general. I really wanted cordless but my man insisted he didn’t want to deal with battery issues. I’ve never had a cordless and I just wanted one so bad. Cords irritate me and get in my way lol. But this purchase was good. So far I am very satisfied. I will definitely come back and redo my review if I feel like my opinion has changed in a couple months. I’ve had this vacuum for 4 years. Here are my thoughts: PROS 1. Good suction, still finds dust and dirt and pet hair 2. Lightweight and really low profile so you can vacuum under things easily 3. Price is amazing for the quality 4. No bags and all the filters I can clean out on my own and reuse. Huge cost and environmental savings. 5. Easy and fast detach / attach for getting corners and using the tools that come with it. 6. Dust bin opens easily and smart so I can hold it over the trash and won’t get dust everywhere. Less messy to empty than others. CONS 1. Corded 2. Hose broke down in head where it bends and flexes as you vacuum, I noticed it at year 3.5, so I had to replace that segment of hose (had holes/cracks in it). I purchased a hose at Home Depot and found some instructions online. Overall it was moderately hard to replace. 3. Suction does not adjust when you vacuum over rugs like the expensive name brand competitor so I have to stand on one end to hold the rug down due to the suction wanting to pickup the rug. 4. Doesn’t sit upright, must lean against a wall when it’s not hanging on the wall given it is too heavy. If you pause during vacuuming to pick something up etc. the thing may fall down while leaning against the wall. Takes a bit of experience to get the perfect, no-fall lean figured out.jessica.b

I just moved into a new apartment and have saved up for this Dyson and it was the best decision I have made. My new place is a 2 bed/2 bath apartment with mostly hard floors and carpets in the bedroom. After going to Dyson’s website and taking their quiz. First, I have to suggest going through Dyson’s website to purchase and not through a 3rd party (Amazon, Target, etc). Dyson offers a price match, you are ensured a warranty, if you wish to get additional attachments, you can know you are getting the correct ones. Next, after know about what model and price point I needed, I was able to look at each machine and pick out the best that would work for me, my cleaning routine, and my home. My Dyson came with so many different attachments (included!!!) but the reason I chose this one was it had different heads for one for each type of flooring, carpet or hard floors. I can remove the wand to make the attachments handheld to clean my couch, add it and a soft bristle head to clean the walls and the top corners next to my ceiling. I could go on and on. This isn’t a vacuum… this has replaced so many different tools I used to clean and, above all, my favorite part, as new apartments can come some lingering bugs, I take the head off and can stay far enough away and still catch and dump the creepy-crawlies. It is my new bug killing machine. As I said, I could write a novel about how much I love this Dyson. It was worth every penny.heather.n

First of all; I have a DC33 for almost 10 years and it is still working excellent, I had repaired a minor cosmetic issue but this is a great tool from Dyson. I really appreciate the thoughtful design of these machines and everything that Dyson produces. This is an outstanding company. Now, we bought the V8 Absolute and we are even more impressed with such beautiful design, with such a great details and mostly with the efficiency of a Dyson. I got a V7 in Jan 2019. Initially, and for about 1.5 yrs., I thoroughly enjoyed it. Then my housecleaner told me a charge didn't last more than 10 mins. Because I have another plug-in vacuum, I didn't think much of it at the time. Then I hired another cleaner. She brought her own vacuum so it hasn't been used at all since Jan 2022. Just in the last week, I tried to use it and it only lasted about 30 seconds. I had a very good experience with the website and service person on the phone but I have been advised that a new battery is necessary. If that is correct, I must say that I am disappointed in Dyson. I expected better performance from their machine. For a machine that is 3 1/2 yrs. old and only used perhaps 2 years of that (and not solely because I have another machine), I think the battery should last longer. And, if the cost of the battery is 1/4 of the price of the machine, I think that is even more disappointing. And, it's the cost of the battery + shipping. My carpenter husband has battery powered tools, uses them consistently and has never had to replace a battery. That knowledge doesn't help me. Is it possible that the charging station is defective? At any rate, as much as I loved it in the beginning, I'm pretty unhappy at present. I recommended my vacuum to lots of friends at first but now, I would have to tell them the whole story and what to expect.Bren

The Bissell 2030 is great for my needs – as a second vacuum for quick cleanups. It's easier and quicker to get out than my full sized vacuum. To answer a couple questions I had that didn't seem covered elsewhere: – The removable floor nozzle seems well designed. I've uploaded a picture of the bottom of it. It's about 9" across, has 2 small wheels in the front and 2 larger wheels in the back; and also has a rubber scraper of sorts behind the nozzle opening to help collect stuff. The opening is small enough to maintain the suction. – The noise is reasonable. It's not silent by any means, but doesn't sound like a jet taking off like another small vacuum I had. This really is tiny. The main section is just under 4" wide. The handle is long enough, though. I don't think it cleans the carpet dust as deeply as a full-sized vacuum, because it has less suction. But it's great to quickly pull out for a quick clean up.Townie

To start it's a very quick and simple assembly. The collection cup (which is small) and vacuum unit disassemble for a handheld unit after the floor nozzle and stick are removed. It has a little filter inside the collection chamber that demanded constant emptying and it needed the dust tapped off way too often for me. The unit makes a droning sound that changes to a higher pitch when it can no longer pick up debris. I bought it for use in a little room, but the sound was too painful to bear for long. I vacuumed a room by the hardest because much of the time was spent emptying it over a trash can. It may be okay for vacuuming up toast crumbs or some other small amounts, but I'm disappointed overall –probably because of expectations. From the unboxing I felt like it was for use by an older child because of the diminutive size, and the limit of collection volume is depressingly small. It can and does pick up the but of fur left when a cat departs a chair. However, this stick cannot accommodate "real world scenarios" like vacuuming a room every other day in my experience. Totally inadequate for me. My impression is it's some rinky dink, less than impressive unit. Still, I was glad to use it when a glass pot lid shattered on the stove.Allyson

I like this because it is very lightweight (I have a broken shoulder) and easy to maneuver in tight places. The handle can remain attached on/for the hand held vacuum head and it gets into corners without having to get on your hands and knees to clean those tight places. It can be used on furniture, floors, walls, carpets, tile and hardwood. Just remember to empty each time you use and clean and 'defuzz' the filter to help it last longer. Suggest ordering extra filters at the same time you purchase this vacuum, as the effectiveness is dependent upon a clean filter. It works as described. This does not take the place of a big upright (big suction) vacuum for carpeting. It does help with a daily quick clean up of crumbs and debris tracked in from outside.lakeviewlady

Let me tell you how great this little guy (or girl) is. In the year 2018, I decided to get my self a furry companion. I wont bore with the details on how I named her but her name is Rona. Little did I know, Rona was going to be the dog equivalent of a hurricane except instead of rain and wind, shes a fur and farts. Also, little did I know, there was going to be a world pandemic 2 years later that would take her nickname "Rona season" to a whole new level. But let me tell you, my dog dogs fur could go toe-to-toe with covid on who spreads faster. At this point I may have lost you, but every great story has a detailed set up. With our move into a new home that is immensely larger than our previous studio in the city, we knew we could not keep up with cleaning. In comes Victor, our new iRobot i7 vacuum. After a short issue connecting to our wifi (my fault, not victors), we got this little guy (possibly girl) up and rolling. With in a day, victor new our new floor plan faster than I could mow the front lawn (its really small #colorado). Speaking of colorado, victor has no issue with high altitude contrary to unpopular belief. All in all, victor has saved us from the pain of vacuuming. I set victor up to run in the morning and evening and he (could be a she) is looking skinnier than even. I find my self watching victor vacuum like my old neighbor used to watch me vacuum. Except he was outside looking in. Highly recommend the purchase. You wont regret it.Kyle

Great vacuuming assistant – 4.5 stars in our opinion. Have had it now 4 months. Background: mostly one level house with laminate and tile floors, couple of throw rugs. Dining room has table with 6 chairs. Kitchen counter has 3 pedestal stools. When we down sized to this house kept minimal furniture. One border Collie. Roughly 2500 sq ft that we want robot to maintain (excludes stairs and room over garage). Here's our experience: to best use the robot, let it map your house. Then divide house into rooms. Rather than let the robot clean the entire house , clean by specific jobs that include 3-4 rooms so the robot can complete it without having to stop and recharge. To get the best clean in the quickest time, move portable items into rooms not on the cleaning job list. For example, we move the six dining room chairs to the sunroom. This cuts the cleaning time by about 1/3 as the robot can vacuum straight lines, rather than try to work its way around multiple chair legs. It also ensures that the robot can get under the table completely. We do a similar thing with the sunroom's high top stools. For the pedestal stools in kitchen, we pull them out so the robot can make a pass without trouble under the counter. The robot will climb the smooth base to clean them. For us with the dog, a bag fills in about a month. The robot can't get onto the fireplace hearth or go over the triple sliding glass door track that leads to the sunroom. Nor will it do behind open doors that are flush to walls. So you still need a broom or handheld wand. Buy on sale!2oldtohear

Seriously, not to be dramatic, but this thing has changed our quality of life. We have 2 dogs, 1 cat, and a bunny. One of the dogs is 100 pounds and sheds so badly; it's the light weight, all over everything, dust bunny in the corner, floating through the air kind of hair. Our other dog has the short needle like stuff that embeds itself into furniture and clothing and sometimes the bottom of your feet like a needle. I used to come home from work and be greeted with hair everywhere. I have no idea where it comes from. I vacuum, and the next thing I know there's hair literally rolling across the hardwood like a hairy tumbleweed. I finally caved and bought this little shark robot thing and OH MY GOD… I'm obsessed. I turn it on once a day when I'm not even home, and I come home and there's no hair! Seriously. None. This poor little robot thing bumps its way around every piece of furniture, getting underneath the tv console, the couch, around the coffee table. It reaches every part of the room I use it in. It has these little wispy wand things that come out from the sides that are great for catching hair tucked in corners of the room. I downloaded the app and turn it on when I'm gone and then when it's finished, it finds its way back to its dock. It's pretty cool. I bought a new vacuum the same day I ordered this; they arrived the same day and I haven't even needed to use the vacuum! It's a pricey little gadget, but if you have shedding dogs, this will add years to your life.Too many animals

Does what it needs to do. Big help with a new puppy that loves to chew everything into tiny pieces and leaves treat crumbs all over the place. I have a new home so I tend to get lots of dust/debris around baseboards as the house settles…this little things sucks up everything! I just used it twice and cleared the storage, the amount of dust it collected was wild. I need to do better with clearing a path, but it could do better with cleaning in a straight back to back row…I feel like it’s a little all over the place and cleaning times takes a bit longer. My sister has had a Shark Ion for 4 years and absolutely loves it. I finally broke down and decided to try it. My research says Shark is the best and I found Best Buy to have the best price -plus I had some bonus dollars off. This unit is the low to middle end of the market. I know there are a lot more expensive models that do a lot more things but, I figure I can empty the dust bin myself and my home is only 1800 sq ft – no stairs, not pets, mostly all laminate and tile floors. Out of the box, I put on the brushes and started it charging. It says the charging station has to have a lot of clearance around it. I actually put it next to an entry way table but, the table is open underneath. So, to the charging table, it looks clear on both sides even though it is looking under a table on one side. It works! It's happy. I had a little challenge with the wireless link as it needed a 2G connection. I finally got it to work and, honestly, I don't know what I did to make it work. Just keep trying! For the first cleaning test, we closed off the two bedrooms that are carpeted and left open the rest of the 1800 sq ft house. The unit did a wonderful job everywhere and then returned to its base. It successfully went under the dining room table and over all the throw rugs including thick ones in the guest bathroom and the thick rubber mats in the kitchen. After it charged (a few hours), I guided it in the carpeted master bedroom, bath and walk-in closet and closed the bedroom door. After 30-35 minutes I went in and the area looked great. I then guided it into the second carpeted bedroom where I got the same result. Oh, Shark Ion, where have you been all my life! I did link and name the unit through Alexa. If I get the wording just right, Toby (as I called the unit) does start cleaning, pause or return to base, but sometimes I can't remember the right words. In those cases, I either have to look up the correct phrases to say or simply walk over to the unit and hita button. It is fun, however, to control the unit through Alexa or on the phone app. Bottom line, for our size home with no pets and mostly non-carpeted floors, this is an excellent robot vacuum. Oh my goodness. I've been a housewife for nearly 30 years and I've spent countless hours vacuuming my home. I have never loved a vacuum before….EVER. This new Miele is a magnificent machine. First of all it's beautiful. It is designed so well. Every part clicks into place with such easy precision. Every part is very easily accessible and well made. The controls on the handles are genius. Pure genius. And performance?? WOW. Its quiet. There is NO smell or odor or dust when I vacuum!! I didn't realize all of these years how much my past vacuums put out dirt,dust,smells…YUCK! I'm 52 years old and I can vividly remember the smell that would come from our very expensive Kirby vacuum from my childhood. It always smelled like our dog….ewww! I'm so happy with my Miele that I have yet to put it away! I've used it everyday since it arrived and I love to just look at it! The retractable cord works seamlessly. The wand holders on the unit are fabulous. The power head brings tears to my eyes…..all of the choices for power level and height are wonderful. My home is 95% wood floors and we have many area rugs. I used to hate having to use different vacuums to clean either the wood floors or the rugs. Now my problem is solved. Instead of dreading vacuuming I'm delighted to plug in my miele!!!jewelrymama

It’s a transition for me to not see what I’ve picked up and wait for an indicator light to tell me when to change the bag, but I look forward to it! I previously had a bagless canister with another maker. The cord on this one practically gets me through my house. I was surprised how long it is. I was excited about the light, but it’s not what I expected because the light I needed was for the hard floors and it is only on the carpet attachment. Don’t get me wrong, as I love this vacuum! This is by far the very best vacuum I have ever owned and I suspect I will not have to buy another one again. The Uniq not only has strong suction, it also has suction control which allows me to fine tune the suction based on what I am cleaning. This vacuum is extremely quiet, so much so that I can use it in the early morning and not wake up my children. The bags are large and go a long way. Lots of finger tip controls and height adjustments for the big power head. It really does make my life easier when using this vacuum. I feel spoiled by my Miele UniQ but I am worth it.Elsa

With our dog and our new baby all over the floor, we were getting much more worried about fur everywhere. I have a very good vacuum and hand vac already, but the vacuum is heavy and cumbersome and my back is not built for vacuuming the floor with a hand vac. This vacuum was a perfect addition to our home because it is light weight and portable, like the love child of the two vacuums we already had. It is also quiet, so I can vacuum the baby's arena everyday while she naps without waking her up. I feel silly since this in addition to so many other vacuums, but I didn't have the energy to pull out the big one on a daily basis, especially trying to get under furniture and plugging it into different outlets to reach the whole house. My Bissell is not as powerful, but I use it daily so the fur doesn't accumulate and it is better for our lifestyle. And since it has the hand vac attachment, I could have bought just this one instead of my previous two. Oops! Highly recommend, would buy again in a heartbeat. I greeted the Bissell ReadyClean Cordless Vacuum with curious skepticism. Having used several vacuums in the past I knew the benefits and drawbacks of corded and cordless vacuums. I tried a Eureka cordless vacuum in the past and the battery took over 12 hours to charge for just 15-20 minutes of vacuuming power, with the suction power being extremely light. I also had a cordless vacuum by Puweike which constantly fell down because I didn't mount the stand against the wall as I had mostly dry wall in my place. I prefer cordless vacuums because even though the corded vacuums owned by Hoover and Oreck offer more power, they are a pain to move from room to room due to having to constantly disconnect and reconnect the cord. The Bissell ReadyClean Cordless Vacuum addressed all of these concerns and offered some unexpected surprises. This vacuum took less than one minute to assemble with only two parts to put together. I only had to charge the battery for four hours until it was ready to use. Upon charging it, I noticed the vacuum stands upright, so there is no need to add any mounted stand to the wall as it can be stored anywhere. I also love that I could turn on the brush roll on carpet and off on the hardwood to prevent scratching. The suction is extremely powerful to pick up even the smallest crumbs and I couldn't believe how easy it is to maneuver with the handle folding to get under the sofa. There is a huge bonus to this vacuum as well with the detachable middle which becomes a handheld vacuum for sofas and chairs. Another bonus is the brush and crevice tool for corners and upholstery. The dirt bin is so easy to empty and put back in the vacuum as well. I would recommend the Bissell ReadyClean Cordless Vacuum to all my friends and family. This lightweight cordless vacuum is exactly what I needed. I have a good sized 1 bedroom apartment that I share with a cat. A few rooms have area rugs and the rest is all vinyl flooring. I am constantly fighting a battle against cat hair, litter particles, and dust. And losing, until now. This is a dream on my vinyl floors and low pile rugs. I have a large thick pile rug in the living room that this does not work so well on. The suction makes it hard to use when going against the grain of the rug so I use it everywhere else and get the old vac out for that one spot. It’s what I intended to do anyway so I didn’t take off a star. I think it’s swivel makes maneuverability fantastic. The battery works great, assembly was quick and super easy, it’s small and sits upright in a corner charging. It came with three handy attachments for with using the hand vac. The cord isn’t too long or too short. It’s just right for my needs. I am so impressed with this vacuum and happy with my purchase.MelissaV
