20 Best Wash And Go Products For 4C Hair (Jan 2023 Update)

I love how this product is CG method friendly. Since it's summer time I've been washing my hair more frequently due to all the sweat (sorry if that's gross) this has kept my high porosity, 3B, medium textured, medium density curls happy, moisturized and HEALTHY! I stopped cowashing because I realized that only led to build up and replaced it with this perfectly hydrating shampoo and it has been a LIFE CHANGER!!!! Smells great, and keep my curls bouncy thanks to all the moisture! I use this every single time I wash, which lately has been 2-3 times a week. So this product is by far my favorite in the blueberry collection! I struggled with finding a shampoo that worked for me and my hair type. This shampoo leaves your hair feeling moisturized & clean. I always felt like my previous shampoos left my hair feeling dry. This product restores your curls and the health of your hair. I'm always on the go so I tend to put my hair in a ponytail, bun, or protective hairstyle. This helps refreshens your curls after being brushed out. I really enjoy using this product along with the rest of blueberry bliss products on my hair natural hair joinery. Side note- If you have highlights or dyed your hair, this products is great to help maintain the color & health of your hair as well. This product is AMAZING!! It is my multipurpose, go to product. I use it fr shampooing, cowashing and general conditioning. It is so moisturising that I could hardly believe that it is a sulphate free cleanser. It leaves my hair nicer than when i use an additional conditioner. It also cleans my hair wonderfully without leaving it stripped. It also makes it super easy to detangle, and between wash days, I use it as my primary cleanser, especially to remove gels for my wash and gos. I absolutely love this product and the blueberry scent is absolutely delightful! The size offered is a little small, but I literally only need a small amount to clean and lather my hair. Between daily (sweaty) workouts and the use of Minoxidil for FPHL, my scalp becomes unbearably itchy. I MUST cleanse my scalp daily, lest I tear it up with my fingernails! My 3a-3b curls can't handle daily shampooing, and dry shampoo is a definite no for me, so I cowash every day and clarify/chelate once per week. I have tried many brands of cowash, and this is the only one that truly cleanses my scalp without leaving my hair either weighed down or dry and frizzy. I live a desert climate, so the fact that I can use this alone and still have soft, hydrated curls is truly amazing. With FPHL, I keep close tabs on my hair fall. I can honestly say that I have not experienced any extra shedding after using this product 6 days a week over the last 2 years. This was actually the first Curlsmith product I purchased. Since that time, I've become a true Curlsmith devotee. I can't tell you how many products from other brands I've tried and binned! With the exception of my shampoo, it's Curlsmith all the way! So far i have only tried the Curl Quenching Conditioning Wash and the Double Cream Deep Quencher and I love the results! I was pleased with how clean my hair felt after using the wash, and how incredibly soft it felt after using the cream after only using a small amount! The wash works well with the density of my hair.So far i have not styled my hair after using this product, I go to bed and wear it up the next day at work because i work outside. However, when i took it out of the braid it was so soft and pretty frizz and tangle free for not having used any stylers! This conditioner is amazing! Of all the conditioners I’ve ever used (I’m in my 20’s so I’ve been through a looot of conditioners!) this one is by far the best. I don’t need a huge amount of it to get my hair untangled, and when I do brush through it I barely have any tangles at all. It’s also very gentle on my hair and the smell is light and not overpowering. So impressed with this product and very glad to have found it. Okay, at first I was suspicious about this product because I really only knew Sun Bum for their sunscreen so I was a little confused seeing they did products for hair. But guys…this product is AMAZING. As someone who constantly buys products to help her curly hair, this has been a life changer. I bought this on a whim because I was like, what's the harm in another product supposedly for curly hair? Boy was I surprised!! I used to cowash because I was having such a hard time keeping my hair from getting frizzy but as a consequence my roots would get kinda greasy and sometimes my curls didn't look as hydrated as the cowash would advertise. Finallyyyyy I found a product that actually hydrates my hair, makes it look great curly, and isn't making it frizzy or puffy. The only con about this product is that I really really wish they made versions of this product in larger bottles because the conditioner tends to go quickly especially if you have long curly hair like me. Delicious! Smells so good! I bought it to control frizz in my wavy hair. I am using in conjunction with the Curls & Waves Styling Creme and it is a nice combo for soft hair. I tried these products for about a month before doing the review. I wanted to make sure how this product performs. Am I impressed with it…no. Do I hate it…no. I have type 4a hair and I used the styler and serum together for my twist-outs. The product is lightweight, not heavy and no residue, but it’s not very hydrating. I would mot recommend this product if you like in cold/dry regions. I think this would be sufficient if you like in a warm or humid location. I was really excited to see that this gel to foam styler really looked like a lightweight gel in the bottle but came out as a foam. I first used the leave in from the same line and then used this. Putting it in my hair was easy and I decided to use it for a twist out. My twist outs felt shiny and springy with a nice hold. By the next day it was flake city. Smells and works great! I use it on my wavy hair and it works great! my hair looks so shiny and doesn’t give any stiffness like other products. WHERE HAS THIS PRODUCT BEEN! I really hope this lasts all day! I will update my review if for some reason this falls apart but I'm in love. Take a look at my immediate results. Forget the fact that I desperately need a haircut and look at the definition. I used the sheamoisture rice water shampoo and conditioner followed by the rice water primer water, then the gel. It's a very, very light consistency, which is what my hair needs. It will leave your hair crunchy but you have to scrunch it out and it'll leave it so, so soft and beautiful. I could have cried when I saw how beautiful my curls were. I've been looking for something to replace my devacul products and I think I found it. The Coconut Custard Gel-Oil has been out of stock everywhere for 18mths. I finally ran out of my stash. Tried the Coconut Hibiscus Gel Souffle but it has agave and made my hair sticky. I have very fine curly hair. Walmart was restocked but it is a reformulation. Smells the same (amazing) the texture is slightly different but still lightweight which is all I need to tame frizz and keep my curls soft but intact. A little goes a long way.Bea

I love all the products in this hairline. Wash n go is my favorite. Works for all three curly hair types in my house. For me the gel is a must as my hair from A1-A4, is a A3. My son A2, daughter A1. They use the primer only and when they want extra control that last for days they will use the gel. I use the gel and only have to spray my hair with some water and touch up with a little primer if needed. I extra touch every three days.Elizabeth

I really like using these products and how my hair feels after using them. I ordered the whole set during the flash sale and when I received the products the shampoo, conditioning spray, and the conditioner weren't closed properly so most of the product was in the bottom of the box. I sent an email about the issue but I received another email for a link that doesn't work to open a ticket. No one has reached out to me and I have been sent the same link twice. This is one of my top five shampoos for people who have a four c hair texture! The smell is amazing. It definitely gives off hints of pomegranate and honey which is the perfect snow combination. It provides a thick rich and full leather without having to use 17 pumps of shampoo. I Projects like that mielle products are parabens and sulfates paraffins and mineral oil all free. I was a little disappointed when I received my black Friday package from Mielle. I have ordered before and have been pleased but this time it was like everything was thrown in a box and shipped. The box was so beat up its like the products could have came out and almost would have im certain had it been tossed around any more and I know that part wasn't so much their fault but I figured it would have been put into another box to ship to prevent that problem. The products had no confetti at least to soften how its thrown around everything was so greasy i thought for sure a product or 3 were leaking and also nothing was wrapped at least in bubble wrap considering how it was boxed up. A little goes a long way. Make sure your hair is soaking wet. Separate in four and apply a teaspoon amount to each section. Scrunch and keep your hands off! Air dry or diffuse. I literally had SUCH HIGH HOPES. I bought this during Ulta's sale and used it as a twist out. I had terrible build up and flakes to the point that I had to wash my hair 2 days later. The second time around I thought maybe I used too much product ( I do that a lot). I decided on a wash and go and used a different product as my main gel, and followed up with the honey custard at the end to just make sure every curl was covered. Using CONSIDERABLY less product. I paired it with the tgin rx leavin and once again I woke up with TERRIBLE flakes and product build up. I made myself late for work trying to wash it out. This product sits right on top and looks milky when wet. Well that "milky" look is going to be flakes in the morning. Stay away.Kayla M

This detangler is a bit disappointing. It does provide some slip to help with detangling, but I didn't notice any lasting effects. I much prefer to use it wet in the shower so I can rinse some of it out, since I had to use a lot, and leaving it in really weighed my hair down. I have 2a hair type. I like using detangling sprays that are lighter (and have heat protectant properties too) and hair masks that help provide lasting moisture and softness, even after rinsing. Love this Wash Day Wonder as my main detangler! I received this complimentary from Deva Curl. It works so well at prepping your hair on wash day. Gets out all the tangles and it has SO much slip to it. I like to damped my hair before using it but it works great concentrate on dry hair for tough knots. Doesn't strip or leave your hair dry. Even though my hair is bleached, I'm an every day wash person. I've only ever been able to skip shampoo for 1 day before getting gross. The only other co-wash I've tried is the TGIN one (which was less cleansing than this but also nice- maybe a good fit for folks who find this too harsh). For me, this hits a nice balance between cleansing and keeping my hair in good shape. It definitely strips my hair MUCH less than a traditional shampoo, but it cleanses more than washing with a conditioner typically would. I've been able to use this instead of shampoo for 2 days in a row without feeling like my scalp is gross. I use ~1-2 quarter sized pumps in my shoulder length hair. IMO that's more a bit more product than I "should" need to use at this price point, but nothing wild. I condition after I use this as well. My hair is weighed down pretty easily and this didn't weigh me down. For context: my hair is 2B, bleached (high porosity), and dense with fine/fragile individual strands.Claire

Relevant info: I have shoulder length, extremely fine (like, hairdressers comment on how fine it is), 2C/3A hair. I decided to try this on a whim because I love curlsmith's moisture memory reactor so much. I haven't had much luck with cowashing in the past, because my hair is so fine it gets weighed down and buildup very easily. But boy am I glad I tried it! I've used it 3 times so far (every other day) and I haven't had to use my regular shampoo/conditioner at all. I tried it originally without using styling products after, because I wanted to try it on its own, and honestly I expected it to weigh my hair down as other cowash products have. I was shocked after it dried (I always air dry) that my hair was extremely soft and fluffy. No product left behind, no clumps, nothing. It was actually a bit too fluffy for my taste, so the next time I used the moisture memory reactor afterwards (as a leave in) and my hair was as perfect as it ever has been. Not weighed down, but not frizzy or fluffy, nice waves/curls, soft and touchable, not crunchy. Love it. This is one of my favorite brands of shampoo. It aroma is very pleasant and the lather is always up to par. I started using this brand after a friend referred it to me and I haven't used another since. This is the best curly friendly conditioner I've found so far on this site. I need a lot of product but I feel like my 2C/3A hair is much more manageable with this than with other conditioners. The downside: this is the weirdest smelling product I've ever used on my head ever. First sniff is something resembling dill pickles. It then morphs into a kind of old man's cologne, like the musky kind that's overpowering. Only to settle on a very floral mix of the previous two scents. I have no other way to explain it. . . I have been on the hunt for a natural shampoo and conditioner that wouldn't weight down my curls and so far so good with this product. The only con I would give it is that the natural smell could be off-putting for some – myself I can deal with natural, herbal smells better than fake perfume scents. This shampoo lathers well for being sulfate free and I only need about a pump and a half for my hair, which is almost down to my chest. It rinses cleanly and I follow it with the conditioner and my hair is left really soft and my waves stand out even without putting gel or mouse in it – although I often do have to style it with some sort of product but that is just the way my hair is. I would recommend this to people with wavy to curly hair for sure. My hair is long and thick and frizzy and I feel like this has helped to tame some of the frizz. I have tried other brands like devacurl and this cleans better for me (and my hair is pretty greasy at the scalp) and is a better value. Bonus points for the pump!deskar

This is hands down the best curly hair gel on the market. I use 2-3 pumps for my whole head and scrunch it in after applying a leave in conditioner to very wet hair. It starts by drying hard but then as the day goes on, your hair looks and feels so soft and the curls are still in place. If i’m looking for a stronger hold because of a slick-back ponytail or something, I usually opt for a stronger gel like Not Your Mother’s. However, I still use Uncle Funky’s Daughter every single day and it’s been excellent for my 3b hair! And CGM approved!!! Worth every penny and lasts long.Natalie

I branched out a year ago to try new products for my wavy hair and I stumbled on this one. I wasn’t sure at first because it’s a weird texture. Kinda like a watery gel. I wasn’t 100% sure it would help my hair. Omg. I was so wrong to be skeptical. This stuff is in my everyday hair arsenal. I scrunch this into my wet hair after a shower. Sometimes it’s all I use and it leaves my hair soft and gently defined. If I want stronger definition, I add in Marc Anthony’s curly mousse right after this and scrunch it in with a t-shirt then let air dry. Once dry, I scrunch with my hands or a t-shirt to get the “crunch” out and my hair looks so good after. It holds the waves in nicely all day long and strong.kelly.w

Feels just like snot!! And gets the job DONE! So just so that you know, I’m a lazy 4C natural. Meaning I do bare minimum to maintain a few strands of hair on my non-chemically treated hair. I literally do not use styling products, partially out of laziness but even more so out of fear of breakage and dryness etc. I took a chance, and for the first tome in years, I tried a styling product, and this was it. It’s a gel with the exact consistency of snot. First wash your hair, condition, leave in condition or whatever, and then while your hair is still soaking wet, apply a GENEROUS amount. Finger detangle/shingle/whatever you to that usually gets a little more definition in your hair and boom. Soft not crunchy curls. Such an amazing hold without feeling like your hair is going to fall out. No flaking. When I tell you I’m the perfect guinea pig for stuff like this because I am truly so prone to messing stuff up..GIRL. Listen to me. I’m particular about my products, but this is one I keep on hand. It really does soften the hair without being too greasy. I love. How it leaves my hair very manageable and smooth. At first I was apprehensive about this product, but I ended up really liking it. The reason I was apprehensive was because of the scent and texture. It smells faintly of rose, which I’m not a fan of. I put it on damp hair and when my hair dried down, I couldn’t smell the rose anymore. The best way I can describe the texture is: loose gel. When my hair dried down all the way, my hair feels suuupperrrr soft, shiny, and hydrated, which is exactly what the product said it will do! This is my favorite shampoo that contains sulfates. It detangles my hair so we’ll and doesn’t strip my hair at all. The shampoo has a pleasant tropical coconut scent and a milky white creamy texture. Any time I felt my hair needed a restart, I would grab this shampoo because it cleansed my hair without stripping it of all its oils like most sulfate shampoos are expected to do.kiyiana.d

I’ve had this product for a few weeks and only used it twice. The smell is extremely strong. Not a bad smell, but it’s so strong that it makes my stomach upset. The product itself is very thin. I guess I was expecting it to be more of thick spray, like conditioner type. It really looks and feels like mostly water mixed with a drop of conditioner. I absolutely love this shampoo for my hair. I'm usually left with my hair feeling dry or like it has been soaked in chemicals. This shampoo alone actually makes my hair feel soft. I love the way my curls form after using this product. Definitely would but this again.orlando.r

After one wash I can feel a difference in my hair. We live out in the country and use county water and you can smell the metals in it as you shower. I can't really even color my hair anymore because the water strips it out inside 3 weeks time. My complaint is that my bottles leaked everywhere and I lost over half my product in shipping. When I pulled them out of their box, both lids were completely unscrewed and product was everywhere. You would think walmart would do better quality control, as I see this has been an issue with a few people.Scardiary

Hair care. Having hard well water is definitely something that had been hard on my hair. Found this product a couple months ago and really love it. The directions say to use daily, but I find it is a little drying to use that often. This is the best thing I’ve found that works while still using hard water to clean. How I use it: shampoo and conditioner every other wash, remedy packets once every other week.lynnsey.c

This hair care set has been wonderful in helping to counteract the hard water where I live! I use the shampoo and conditioner usually 1-3 times a week (2x on average) and it works very well, keeping my hair silky and mineral-free. Please be aware that the treatment packets can be quite rough on hair, though – more hair tends to fall out than usual after using one of the packets. For me, the 4 packets that come in this set are perfect for dealing with the buildup that occurs if I've only used the shampoo and conditioner 1x per week for a few weeks, but I would (personally) caution against regular use. But as long as I use the shampoo and conditioner regularly, there's no issue with this! Use 2-3 times per week is perfect for negating the effects of hard water, and keeping my hair feeling healthy!
