Best Wax For Facial Hair (2024 Update)

I've only used this wax once, but so far, it's the worst wax I've ever used. Did not apply well at all, didn't stick to really any hair, and was SUPER brittle when removing. It just broke into pieces rather than peeling off smoothly in a strip. I usually use Cirepil Blue hard wax, but I got this with the gigi mini warmer to save some space for home use, but I am thoroughly disappointed in this wax. I most likely won't even use the rest of it. I'll probably end up heating it up, dumping it out, and re-using the can to put the blue wax in.adrianne.m

I have the at home wax heater. This saves me a lot of money to wax myself at home instead of a salon. It is us easy to use. It takes a bit of a learning curve and proper technique to get the hang of it. However once you learn how to wax properly, it is was better to do this yourself. No appointments, no waiting, and no awkward feelings when you are getting intimate areas waxed. GiGi is the best at home hair wax removal in my opinion. 10 out of 10. Recommed this to everyone that wants to wax instead of shaving or tweezing. And those that want to save money.gina.b

This wax has a really unpleasant scent! It removes facial hair alright but definitely leaves quite a bit of hair behind which will take a lot of time plucking. I do have very sensitive skin and I'm allergic to some waxes. This one hasn't flared me out bad yet. So it's pretty good for sensitive skin. You do need to buy wooden spatulas to spread it obviously. Sometimes it takes out hair, sometimes it doesn't. I feel that you need to wait for it to be a bit longer, maybe about 3/4 weeks depending on how fast or slow your hair grows. And it does come with an oil which I don't really like. I prefer to use cold water and then aloe post waxing. It's alright but im sure there are better wax kits out there.elizabeth.a

I ordered the Microwaveable Warm Wax by Parissa and followed all the directions when using it. I tested it 24 hours ahead of time on my thigh and didn't really have any issue with it. But today I used it on my legs and it was one of the most horrible experiences I have ever had. First of all, it barley worked. It took off hair in patches and not all of it that I put wax on, so it pretty much looked the same as it did before i used the wax. Meaning I would've had to go over it twice, but I was too afraid it would rip my flesh off. Secondly, my skin is red. Not a pale pink color, but red. And this may be expected after waxing but this seems worse. There are little red dots all over my legs and bumps going down my legs. So now, my legs are still hairy, and now very red! This product did not work at all, I am in pain and I am afraid to leave my bedroom because of how horrible my legs look. I would attach a photo but I am too embarrassed about how my legs look. I bought this item based on the good reviews; however, I found that it was a waste of money. The item was not cheap and, certainly, not worth the amount I paid for it. Although the wax got warm enough to stir, it was so thick it was almost impossible to use. I even had a warming plate that should have made it easier for the wax to melt and use. I don't know if the wax was old or it is just a bad product. I will gladly pay for a salon to do an eyebrow was over this $19.00 purchase.CCDB

This sugar wax is the real deal! Used it on arms and legs and it worked like a charm! It's gentle on the skin and any leftover residue wipes away with just water. Make sure to apply a thin layer of baby powder onto the skin before applying the wax…this will make sure your skin is free of moisture and will reduce any pain.melanie

The fabric strips mold to your face so they don’t wrinkle causing the wax to fold and making the pull off painful. One box costs me less than getting my upper lip threaded or waxed. One strip is enough for my upper lip. Considering there is 12 double sided strips in a box, this Can last me 12 lip waxes which saves me almost $60 from a salon. That alone is enough to keep buying this product! The new packaging comes with powder to apply to you waxing area to help the strip adhere only to hair not skin. I would say that is a nice add in! I usually go for baby powder but now that it’s included as a bonus the kit seems even better. I do wish it came with more post wax towelettes, and smaller too. I love these. When using them, if your skin is sensitive, or you’re nervous, put a light coat of powder in the spot you’re going to wax first and test a small spot before going all in. Rub them between your hands until they are warmer and softer, but still take a little pulling to get apart. For my eyebrows, I draw a line to match my brow line and cut the strip so that it fits easier and I can get more hair without being scared it will take the whole brow off. I use the scraps for between the brows. I wish they gave us more of the wipes to get the wax off, but you can use any oil you have on hand on a napkin once you run out. Be sure to smooth them down with pressure in the direction of the hair, then rip them off in the opposite direction— against the grain if you will. I’ve tried Sally Hansen and even have my own waxer, but these are the best. Easy and clean!Kristen

Just put the strip between your hands and rub back and forth quickly, building up heat by friction. I do this for about one minute. The wax will be on both sides when you part the strip. The people that harmed their skin may have left the strip on too long; the ones that did not have much hair removed, may have not pressed the strip enough before waxing. You just press firmly and strip. It also comes with some calming pads. Feels so nice and makes the skin soft. I love this product! Although I must confess that the first time before buying it I wanted to read some reviews first in order to buy safely, some reviews were very negative, since for some it caused burns or irritation to the face. This product is awful. Normally I love Sally Hansen wax. I use their microwaveable all over wax without a problem. This one daid microwave for 90 seconds. I had ro do it for 200 seconds so it could even melt. One applied it dries supper quick which wouldn't be a problem if it was only on the skin. It dries super quick in the container too so it's very hard to pick up and spread. I had to throw it out.Edi

This wax does not work, but I guess I should've expected much for the price point. I have been waxing my eyebrows for about a year and a half, and I had been using the same clean+easy microwaveable wax since the start. Last time I went to buy it was sold out, so I turned to this for an alternative…. I definitely regret that. It's nice that this kit comes with so much, but it's not so nice when the actual wax doesn't do anything. 1st the "ready" stick that tells you when the wax is ready to use does not work at all, every single time the stick would say ready when the wax wasn't even warm when you touched it, and it wouldn't slide on with application, it's would just clump and fall off without getting any hair. But, even when you do use the wax at a warmer texture, it never hardens, so pulling it off is incredibly hard and it barely pulls out any hair. One of the worst parts of waxing at home is anticipating the pain when you rip the wax off. Having grown up in salons I am pretty much an expert at waxing at home. However you shouldn’t probably wax at home if you aren’t confident with your skill set. you have to heat this up without overheating it so you don’t burn your skin and you have a small window once it is the right temperature to apply it before it solidifies again. Definitely make sure you read the instructions for the application of the wax! And use the cream for after waxing to reduce red bumps or ingrown hairs. You do have to wax more often with this I feel it doesn’t get the hairs out as well as professional waxing but it does do the trick. shakti.g

As an esthetics student I wanted to be able to practice my applications at home. I absolutely love this kit. Although immediately upon feeling the strips it came with and the consistency of the wax, I went and bought the traditional wax strips. Upon reading other reviews I noticed a lot of user error. First use the pre cleanse, then powder to dry the cleansed area. Make sure the wax is warmed up to a maple syrup like consistency and run the stick on the outside of the wax not the middle of the pot. Apply a very THIN coat of wax in the direction of the hair growth. Apple the strip and warm up the wax in the direction of the hair growth. Place tension on skin with one hand and rip off strip in opposite direction of hair growth with the other FAST. Repeat process until cleansed area is clear. Then repeat with next section of hair. One strip can be used about 3-4 times then discard.Aesthic/s.

Ok I know the WAXING Kit says at home starter kit! Oh no no no! Unless U are a COSMETOLOGIST & U already know how 2 properly use this machine & also wax correctly! So this wax kit is absolutely fantastic! Its the same kit I have used in my salon that I owned for years. Here's the thing u will not know how to operate this correctly & jack your skin & hair up if u have not been properly trained like a stylist has. I see all the bad reviews & its clearly only bad because the folks haven't gone thru proper training 2 do it rite. As Cosmetologist we learn how 2 do it thru our 1500 hours n skool & n some states you can do a week or 2 long class 2 get ur waxing license. I am not saying go 2 cosmetology school & get license 2 learn how 2 operate this but I will highly advise u 2 find a friend or family member that is licensed 2 wax 2 show u how 2 properly wax. Also I am gonna advise u 2 find a few brave souls 2 let u practice on b4 u literally let it rip on yourself! I honestly can't believe Y they have this 4 sale & marketed as a at home kit because this is exactly the same as the professional kit. First of all I am an esthetician in training, I needed a wax warmer for my kit to get licensed and this was on sale with everything included so I went for it. Couple of things: the honee all purpose wax is just awful, it gets everywhere and is extremely difficult to clean up, you need a ton of micellar water, AND for my skin personally it gives me the WORST folliculitis. However, the hard wax is fine and I went to Sally's and got the blue hard wax with azulene, much better. The wax warmer itself even on the lowest setting gets too warm for hard wax so you don't get the perfect pearl you want/need unless you keep turning off and on the wax warmer. The hard wax once it hardens is easy to scrape off, but not the soft wax. It is hard to do large areas with hard wax so I'd suggest getting a sugar wax or just a different brand of soft wax all together. The warmer itself works a little too well, but it's better than microwaving. I'd say it's a good starter warmer, but it's very cheap so maybe not for an actual spa.Tina

I am SHOCKED that this is a Walmart 'best-seller.' I am SHOCKED that this is so highly rated. I don't wax my arms or legs because thanks to genetics, I don't have arm or leg hair. I don't wax my lady bits, but I do pay to get my underarm hair professionally waxed. Thanks to my slow-growing underarm hair, I only have to go 2 – 3 times a year, but COVID put a stop to all visits. I decided to try these because I knew shaving would give me ingrown hairs. I was super excited to try them out because if they worked, it would save me time and money – even after the pandemic. I'm an African-American woman with all that that entails. While my hair isn't what I'd describe as super coarse, or even coarse, it's definitely not silky. These strips were horrible. They only removed a few hairs – which wouldn't have been so bad. The worst part about it is the fact that they left a greasy, gummy residue under my arms. The wipes (included in the box) removed the residue easily -but I was amazed at the amount of residue they left behind. I LOVE this product. It’s become a staple “must have” in my beauty world. Seriously— if I could buy stock in it, I would. I’ve been waxing my eyebrows & upper lip since I was maybe 11-12 (& later, my chin-thanks bcp!) I have the palest skin and the darkest hair possible before pitch black. When I say I have tried literally form & brand of waxing and hair removal (minus laser, still out of my price range atm), that is not an exaggeration. If you’ve seen it in a store, I’ve tried it. From the warming strips to various types of hard waxes including a professional grade system for my home to regular nair to the foam hair removal to dilapidators— let’s not even mention the search for the perfect tweezer … pick anything and I can bet you I’ve tried it. This product is magic. Seriously. It’s SO easy, you can reuse the strips til everything is gone, you can cut them up to fit wherever you need and they still work easily, and you can use them all over your body. And I mean every kind of hair you’d want removed, this does the trick. Even just the test runs I did on my legs (I have pretty bad keratosis pilaris and it inhibits hair removal on my legs), perfect removal and zero after effects. It removed my hair efficiently and fast. The problem I found with it is that it gave me a rash near my eyebrows and upper lip. And it burned terribly. Other than that it was pretty straightforward, you apply it and remove it. I wont recomend to people with sensitive skin like me.itzayana.p

Before starting laser ( which now requires me to shave) I had the complete at home waxing kits that you often see in salons. I don’t have corse or thick hair but I have tried many different types of Gigi waxes. The the cream wax is the best one I’ve used in myself and my friends who have thicker more corse hair. What I like about the creme wax in comparison to the the regular Gigi ones is that it’s made for sensitive skin and leaves your skin feeling softer after removing the wax strip. I oddly find the creme wax gives me less pain than the regular wax. I’m not sure if it’s the consistency or formula but I did a thorough comparison of the creme and the hard wax on both legs and both of my arms to see the difference. They both removed the hair the same but the creme wax was definitely gentler on my skin, less painful and left my skin feeling softer. I would highly recommend it for at home waxers!aatika.b

So this is definitely a great product to use if you have any sort of extra hair growth. It's sensitive enough for your face. This product applies easily but does take a while to warm up in any sort of warmer. I definitely recommend wearing some sort of rubber glove because it'll be easier to rip the wax off of your skin. The wax does tend to be slightly gooey so you need to make sure that it's left on long enough. There is some stretch to it while peeling the wax off of your skin so that's why I would recommend wearing gloves because it will definitely stick your hands and your fingernails and be very hard to remove. But as far as sensitivity goes this is a great product overall!tania.m

So, first of all, the smell of this entire product is AMAZING! It smells better than any other wax strips I've ever used and you truly can't miss the smell even upon first opening the box. It's very aesthetically pleasing and again the smell truly gets me excited to use this product. However, when it was time for application I ran into a few stumbles. I needed my brows done bad so that's where I tested it first and then tried taking off a few facial hairs as well. First of all, after applying the wax strips and pressing in the same direction as the hair growth I found that the actual wax itself on the strip would sort of ooze out when I would try to press down my hairs prior to removing the strip. Then, even after removing the strip in the opposite direction as hair growth, it left a considerable amount of wax product around the area it was used on. Now after cleaning up with the finishing wipe I did notice that the wipe itself was extremely oily and although I know it needs to have oil to take off the remaining wax on my skin, I did feel that it was a bit too oily for my liking and had to wipe off my hands constantly because they were so greasy. After completing the process a full time through I examined the hair that was on the strip that I just used and found it to be very underwhelming. Although my skin feels as if there was a lot of hair removed, the strip told a different story and barely had any hair that was picked up. So, I tried a few more times and finally started to see a difference when I waxed the under arch of my brows and went over the failed area to try again. This time I took scissors and cut long ways and in half so I could manipulate it so that I felt comfortable putting the strip on more critical areas of my brows. I found this worked considerably better and was quite pleased with the results afterward. All in all, glee face wax strips biggest achievement is the amazing smell this product has through and through. With modifications to the a-little-bit-too-sticky wax formula and the tad-bit-too-oily finishing wipes, this product has the potential to be the leading face wax kit on the market! I was truthfully a bit disappointed with these. I read a bunch of reviews stating that they work great, so I was really looking forward to trying them. I followed and read the directions precisely and didn’t have great luck with them. They didn’t get all of the hair as they should and you can’t place another strip over the same spot, so that was a bit of a nuisance. It definitely gets some, but doesn’t leave you super smooth as they claim, unfortunately. The packaging is super cute and takes out to me though and I really like the idea of them. I just feel they have a bit of room for improvement! Ultimately, they are easy to use, just don’t work how I expected. I wouldn’t say that it is worth the pain in my opinion. I suppose they do at minimum help you get rid of some and make the process of shaving easier. GiGi is great brand. I've always used (+10 years) their jar of wax, strip-free, and although a bit messy, I've learned to use it, almost hassle-free. I didn't care for this style of waxing…personal choice; however, I'd recommend others to at least try it. See if it works for them… It's a good price and was worth the experiment for me, anyway. So I am used to waxing my own eyebrows, however, because of a recent deployment, I was not able to bring my Gigi waxer along. I found these on amazon and decided to give them a try. They are for sensitive skin and worked great! I give them 4 stars only because I had to also tweeze my eyebrows a little bit more than usual and because you have to rub them to warm them up. These are easy to use and work well for stubborn chin hair. The instructions are straighforward and I like that the kit also comes with lotion for you to wipe off any extra wax. It did take 5 passes to remove all the visible chin hair from one side of my face, and just one pass for the other side. So I can see that results may vary. I’ve only used this once. I followed the instructions and heated it at 15 second increments. It took over 1 minute to melt enough that I could push the top layer in to mix it together. When it did finally break through and became the correct consistency it became a stringy mess all up and down the inside of the container. It dried to the applicator before I could even apply ot and when I tried to mix it up again it just dried all up and down the inside of the tub. What I was able to get applied worked great, though. This is great for small areas like lip and eyebrows. I’d never attempt any other area on my own anyway. But it heats up quick in the microwave and I love that it is strip less, that makes it super convenient and less messy. As a background I have really sensitive skin and usually I’m scared of trying new products such as waxing kits and that stuff but, I let myself go into this because I needed a really fast way to get rid of my facial hair above my lips. So I bought this Sally Hansen Hair Remover Wax Strip Kit Face Bikini. And it does a good job but if you have sensitive skin please look for another options, I used it four hours after I exfoliate my skin With a sensitive skin exfoliating that I usually use for my bikini area And then I decide to use the strips, but as soon as I take them out, my skin will feel like it was burning and 72 hours after that my skin still feeling really itchy And I have some kind of scab on my skin.isabel.s

This new version is perfect! I use it for bikini line waxing so this review is based on waxing that area. It's sooo much better than the previous version of these strips. The new formulation gets all hairs off first time. I had no sensitivity. Absolutely perfect. A tip for first-time users: yes, this is a pretty tightly gripping wax strip, so you do have to rip it off literally as quickly as you can (quicker than their previous strips) so you'll get all the wax off with no pain or residue. This comes naturally to me since I've been waxing so many years, but new users unfamiliar with these strips will need to be faster and grip tighter on removal than with other brands. So long as you do that, it's fine. The massive bonus is that it gets all the hairs with it, which the previous version of the strips (and other brands) don't do – I could literally not find any other strip that handles coarse bikini line hair as well as this Sally Hansen one. My skin was fine after using this, no redness etc. I did NOT use the numbing wipes as I don't generally get any pain and I just didn't want to add a chemical to my skin. So I can't comment on how the numbing wipes work. I can't use Veet strips since my skin breaks out after so bad that ppl can see it (ugh) but these Sally Hansen body strips were fine.vickyfrankfort

I love these straps and have used these for years. I hate to have the need, but my facial hair is dark and I feel so much more confident when I'm not rocking a lady stash. One warning though, don't go over the same area more than once. If you miss any the first pass clean it up with tweezers because they will take skin and scarring does not help with this problematic issue.casandra .r

I feel more confident waxing than using a nose trimmer. I wax once every two weeks. It actually hurts more to pluck one hair than waxing. It takes a bit longer to warm up than the instructions says, but keep warming in increments to figure out your perfect time. I like the applicators. There's not an equal amount of wax and applicators. I actually remove the wax and wash and disinfect the applicators after each use.sharay.w

Great product, however a bit tricky as it spills on your face, beard (I couldn't get it off mine, so I shaved) and clothes unless you practice. A lot. Other than that, very nice wax! Applicators can be reused after you clean and wash them (I just let the wax harden and broke it off with my fingers).sissypapas2010

No one, least of all women want to think about nose hair but it's a thing and we all have to live with it…Until now. This product is quick and painless and the job is done in minutes. The kit contains a little tub of wax that goes in the microwave (with the lid off) for 30 seconds (plus you may want to add another 10 depending on how powerful yours is) followed by a minute to stand, and ten shaped sticks, each with a nobbly end with a flat bit about 10mm from the tip. The pack recommends that you do a search test to make sure you're not going to have a bad reaction to it. When the wax has softened to the consistency of honey, it should be warm, not hot whirl the nobbly end of the stick around slowly making sure you don't get wax past the flat bit, then, using one hand to push your top lip down and out of the way, gently insert the sticky end up your nostril. Leave it there for about a minute, then, making sure you have a firm grasp, quickly pull the stick downwards, out of your nose. Be careful not to leave in more than 90 seconds as the wax might harden a bit too much and be uncomfortable and leave some wax behind. Once you've removed the stick, with a facial expression of mild disgust and fascination, you will see just how effective it is. And it smells amazing. Which is abonus when you consider where it's going. Although you really DO NOT want to sniff when it's inserted. Ten out of ten would buy again.sarahsazzletee

I’ve been using this for years. It’s messy & it needs to be heat up constantly. The most recent one that I bought was super sticky straight from the jar & not solid, which was the first red flag. I heated it up and applied it once it was the proper consistency, but it never dried. I had to scrape most of it off of my skin before I could use baby oil. It took two hours to get off and there’s still a whole bunch on my floor and furniture that just refuses to come off. I wound up just throwing the whole thing away. I have been using this product since probably 2014/2015 and never had problems. It works very well and I've definitely gotten much better at controlling it over the years. The reviews that you are reading are clearly from newbies who have no idea what they're doing and are blaming the product. A few even mistook it for hard wax. It's NOT! If you have the patience to learn to wax yourself, then you won't have problems w this. I genuinely believe any problems I've had w this product over the years have all been because of ME! It takes practice to know how to wax and that's why you get charged so much when you go to a professional. You can't expect the product to preform its best when you're impatient and unskilled.Amilly

One of my favorite wax bean smells and brands. Leaves me feeling fresh and smooth as well as smelling good. I think gigi is a very cheap and reliable brand. I like to purchase their kits atleast every two months because kits get wax everywhere and they tend to get messy so i just buy regularly for my own preference. 😅😅😅katie.b

Because of my extremely sensitive skin, the ordinary wax beads would scratch me and create red marks. For my skin type, these beads are perfect!
