Best Work Boots For Concrete Floors (2024 Update)

These boots started out great when I bought them in April of 2021. I had to get used to walking with the wedge style sole, not a problem. In August I blew out one of the eye hooks, it literally broke in two, the front away from the back (rivet came undone). I lived with them that way for another few months. Then in November, the same thing happened, now outside of the 6 month warranty. I took them to a Red Wing store and they told me they could fix them, no problem, only about $6 an eye. I told them that was a problem for me, not financially, but just the fact they wouldn't stand behind the craftsmanship. Since the second eye came off, I started wearing my old boots from another manufacturer about every other day. I barely had many miles put on the Wingshooter. I replaces the laces with paracord after having one lace shred (maybe from the eye?), and decided to do that with all my boots. I had an old pair of Irish Setters that I wore right into the ground, they lasted MANY years, so I hoped to get the same from these Wingshooters…not the case. If this is how they will hold up, I will never buy another pair, especially with the limited warranty. Fit and comfort is phenomenal. Toe box stitch isn’t durable. I work Wildfires and only got to use these for three months total across two seasons, much of the time flying ops and staying in the helicopter. Unfortunately they fell apart after the 6 month warranty. Would not recommend this model. Also they eat laces on the daily. The eyelets were not rounded out of factory. Gonna take a round file to those and get a certified repair shop to salvage the toe box. Praying I can get at least one full season out of them. This boot is greatly lacking in performance and fit. I've used Red Wing work boots for may years and have been very satisfied with the products I've had from Red Wing. However, I regret purchasing this Irish Setter product, in fact this is my first product review of any type which I felt compelled to write because the design is so poor. My issues mainly revolve around the sole and the fit. The outsole is claimed to prevent mud buildup, which it does at the expense of traction on any surface other than dry asphalt. The tread (if you can call it "tread") is simply hopeless and I found myself slipping in conditions my Red Wing work boots (designed for use in factory environments with a smoother sole) could easily handle. Snow, mud, wet/damp grass or any mildly adverse condition and this boot cannot cope. Additionally, the sole is incredibly flexible. So if you intend to walk any distance your arches will quickly tire, especially if any hills are encountered. The "UltraDry" waterproof membrane may keep moisture out, but it does not breathe well and I would advise looking for a product that uses the original brand of breathable waterproof membrane. Any basic hiking boot works better than the Wingshooter in the above areas. I found the fit to also be very poor. The volume of the boot is extremely large such that my foot slides from side to side even in a normal width. Since there is no actual foot retention my feet slide forward and the heel is not held in place and blisters easily occur. Wrapping the laces around the back of the ankle before lacing up the hooks helps somewhat, but it cannot solve this issue; its like wearing a loose fitting leather sock. Since the volume is so large, even with thick socks, the edges of the lacing eyes meet before I can achieve a decent hold on my feet. I don't think my feet are difficult to fit as I've never had such issues with any other boot before. I have none of these issues with my steel toe Red Wing work boots and have taken to using those in the field rather than the Wingshooter. I would strongly advise any potential customers to seek a different product.abcd

Clarksville, TN, during the 1970's, was home to two boot/shoe manufacturing companies. The most famous, Acme, went out of business in the late 80's, but was resurrected in the 2000's as Dan Post. The other for which I worked, went out of business, succumbing to international competition. I learned a bit about making shoes/boots from these folks during the 5 years of my employment. The wedge was not a thing then. Coming closes to that was the ""Vibram" outsole. Outside stitchdown or Goodyear welt made the only boots which were re-craftable.. Today this is still true. I mainly only purchase Goodyear welt products as a result. These boots are the most comfortable I've ever put on from the start. I find them impressive from fit to comfort to quality control This is the 3rd pair of boots I've bought from this site this year. Buy these confident you are getting a premium boot for a bargain price. Why not 5 stars? Time will tell.David

Not sure if it’s my boney ankles or the boot.
I know it takes time to break in boots I’m a Timberland guy thought I would try something new. Had been wearing for 3 weeks now . My ankles are all better but now the toe is pushed in from kneeling and the inside of the boot is pushing on my toes making it uncomfortable to wear. Lesson learned if you have been wear the same brand for 20 plus year stick to what works.
I would not recommend this boot to anyone in the hvac-r industry. Definitely more of a walking boot then a work boot.
All my work clothes are Carhartt and will continue to buy Carhartt just these boots where not for me. Just stinks I tried saving a little money just to spend more in the end.

I can't destroy these boots after 15 summer seasons! They were work boots and when they got tired, resigned them to weekend chores. Just pop a fresh Dr. Scholl insole in them once a year and they are good as gold. Leather quality excellent ( like a bullhide), support, water resistance and protection above average. Hardware also hanging tight after 15 seasons. Have tried them all (Chippewa, Danner, Red Wing), Rocky by far the best deal, offering a great pair of boots for half the price of the major hitters.Working man boot review

Purchased these in December 2018 for the upcoming Landscape season (2019) to replace my 8 year old Carolina steel toed boots. First time I wore them on dewy grass, they got soaked, even not broke in the were comfy, but got wet. So I went back to my old Carolinas, I treated the boot with a waterproofing spray hoping this would help, and got soaked again, so I then tried moojuice oil, still got wet and finally used redwing oil which I have used on my Carolinas and any other leather boots I have owned and that helped a little but in the end still got wet and all from morning dew. Not sure if they were defective but no way are they waterproof and I've lived in steel toed boots for almost 30 years. It's maybe a $90-$100 boot but no way $150+ you can purchase other brands for $120-$180 that are actually waterproof, danner,Carolina, timberland, redwing, irish setter, thorogood, ect ect. I sent an email but they only warranty for 6 months, and since I bought them in December, by the time I started wearing them warranty was shot so beware of this. I personally own 6 different Rocky boots n hikers, the waterproof ones are good except this pair. I'm a big Rocky Apparel guy too as is my GF and own guessing $4-$5k in clothing and love it, but a little dissapointment with these and Rocky's reply to this particular pair of boots.KO1977

About my fourth pair made the mistake by the urging of a friend to try another make of work boots . Barely used they sit in my closet . The only improvement I would suggest are the insoles , they are not comfortable and I do replace them ,otherwise I have not found a more comfortable boot . As chief Eng. of a high rise I daily walk a minimum of three miles daily and get about a years worth of comfort ,thanks .Rizz

well made, cool look… not warm. they have no lining that would keep your feet warm. So i would suggest wearing these in the spring/summer/fall. I have worn then in NE Ohio, all winter, and they are okay with 2 pairs of warm socks. But you will feel the cold if you stomp around in the snow.Engish

I absolutely love these boots. Easy on and easy off. Keeps your feet warm and are very comfortable. I’d say they run big so down size a half size. I wear an 8 1/2 and should have got an 8 but I’m keeping them as I like to wear puffy socks. Definitely a must for fall and winterJojomama

My wife found these boots and I did not know DeWalt had boots. I use DeWalt tools at work but the boots were a surprise. Well made and true fit. Will buy again. I do electrical work and I was looking for good boot without such intense tread on the bottom. These boot feel more like a sneaker and I have not had any foot pain since I've worn them even working 12 hour days. They have held up great and the only complaint I have is that the laces are way to long but that's a small issue.Scott

I think DeWalt boots don't get enough credit for their boots. Well-made, durable, super comfortable boots. Sizing is true to size. I wear a 10.5 in Nike, and 10.5 in these fit just as well. The best part is they have a really great Arch, so if you need arch support these are the one! They are also pretty light for a steel toe boot.cdgilbreth1031

Sole is separating and side seem after about 4 months of wear. The Sole is thin so I can feel the ladder under my feet. The grip is really good on these l though. I work roughly 40 to 50 hrs a week averaging 8k steps daily at my job.J

I got this boot’s because they met a requirement for work. I like them a lot they are very comfortable and besides that I like the fact that they are not heavy. The composite toe it’s what attracted me to them as well as the look. I will say they come in a little loose on the size but I can live with that, it is easier to find a thick sock that will fill in the gap then having a tight fit that’s too uncomfortable. Overall I am really pleased with the service and the boots!Vgoo

The work boots I purchased are light weight and durable and seem as though they will last for a long time. The toe has the impact protection feature required on a construction site, although it is accomplished by an approach that gives the boot the look of something that might be used at a steel mill. All in all I am satisfied with the purchase and glad that NB makes a shoe in this category (it took some searching on the website to find it – maybe you could highlight it).Chris

I'm using my New NB working shoes for my job and I'm happy with them. The show fits great and it the hard top and general design of the shoes keep me safe. I had ankle surgery and my NB shoes have protected me and given support to my feet at all times. The only aspect I don't like much is that my feet get soar at the end of the working shift because of the hardness of the shoes on my toes. I have tried different socks and have not been able to solve the issue.Bill

Ordered the 4 (e) extra wide model. Was still not wide enough in the toe box area. The shoe material is not breathable and gets stained with salt stains from my feet sweating. Quite embarrassing. The insole is very comfortable impressively enough. The tongue at the top of the ankle is very stiff so it will definitely cause some soreness. These hi tops have superb ankle support when using a heel lock shoe lace tying method. Not the most comfortable shoe as after a 10 hour shift guaranteed to have blisters.Disk

It's a very well constructed boot, designed for work. The best features are that it is comfortable to wear after the break-in time period the soul is flexible and grippy. I believe it has a steel shank because I can feel the strength in the shoe and stability under load. It also has a Goodyear welt construction and the leather has been waterproofed, all fantastic features. About the only complaint is the break-in because the phone seems to flex and feels lumpy. After you wear the shoe for a few miles the lumpiness goes away under the front portion of your foot. To get a five-star rating they would need to improve the cushion to make it more of a memory type phone, like Skechers. Skechers, just so that you're aware, does not build a true work boot so don't waste your time as I did with them. This is my first wolverine Boot and I really like it. I have problems with my Wolverine. In fact, I bought them over a month ago, and I haven't worn them until now, and I'm still wearing my old boots from another brand. The problem is that when I went to buy them, I only tried on the right boot, and it felt perfect; but this week I decided to wear my new Wolverines, the left boot presses me down and makes my last two toes ache with every step I take. You can't walk or work like that. It is impossible. I compressed cardboard inside them, I compressed cloth inside them, and nothing… And I can't change them at “Dicks” because more than a month has passed, and the receipt has been misplaced. Husband works in the sanitation business and has worn just about every pair of top name brand work boots out there in relation to steel toe work boots. His work boots usually last anywhere between 4-6 months due to the job environment (slop from trash, rain, snow [winter], mud, etc.) on a daily basis. The breakdown of boots usually occurs at the seams where the boot upper meets the sole. Shoe laces also breakdown and break. Some steel boots that he has worn have been proven to be uncomfortable as well. He bought a pair of Wolverines last year and that pair lasted 10 months compared to other brands. He tossed the old pair due to the amount of garbage slop, grease, and wear at the toe end where it had began to break down causing some separation on the boot. He also stated that they were comfortable to wear and more durable in the wear over time compared to other brands that began to fall apart at the seams, where the sole meets the top of the shoe tread, in a matter of a four to six months. I bought his second pair this past Christmas for him after he was searching for a pair of Wolverines prior to December. The last hardware store that sold these boots stopped selling this brand and he had searched in town to find another, but to no avail. Overall, he prefers this brand over others now due to the quality of the the shoe in its ability to withstand the elements and the comfort of the boots worn over the course of a 14-16 hour work day. Ordered these boots for work. Have worn Red Wings in the past and liked them okay, and have really gotten into wearing Thorogoods the past few years. Figured I’d give these Bull Run’s a shot, and so far they have been great! Quickly broken in, and you can tell the quality is there for sure. I initially ordered them in a 11.5 D because I have never worn wide boots. I tried them on and they felt extremely narrow. I couldn’t move my toes. I sent them back for the 11.5 EE, and they are perfect. Definitely recommend the boots, but if you are debating between a D width and EE, you would be safe to choose the EE in my honest opinion.Ty H.

One of the toughest things about wearing size 15 shoes is finding anything in my size that is stylish, comfortable and durable. I honestly feel like I've found that in the Bull Run Moc boots. I looked at boots with similar styling from other manufactures but they only went up to size 13 or (maybe) a size 14. I was pleasantly surprised when I ran across Danner. I'll admit, I don't work in construction nor any other strenuous job that requires manual labor. I do ride Harley Davidsons and need a quality riding boot that allows me to walk in comfort when I'm out attending events or walking at different sight seeing adventures. My review is more for The BassPro store and their employees than it is for Danner. We bought a pair of Danner Bull Run boots in October and had to return them in December because they were falling apart. Bass pro would not replace them we had to call the Danner company directly and spoke to an amazing representative who got our replacement boots taken care. Bass Pro did not want to stand behind their return policy or their products and wouldnt have exchanged the boots if it wouldn’t have been for the Danner customer service representative making them do so. It is now May and the boots are falling part again and again Bass Pro will not exchange boots that cost over $200 and are coming apart at the seams in less than 90 days since they were purchased. One Bass Pro employee said they wouldnt return them because they looked like they had been worn to work in. News flash they are WORK BOOTS! So will get Danner involved again to get the boots replaced and I have no doubt they will take care of the situation and stand behind their one year warranty. Danner has always been the go to brand for work boots around our house but after 2 very irritating experience with bass pro employees we will no longer be shopping there for work boots… or anything else. These boots are great. This is the sixth pair I’ve owned. I’m a contractor and wear this boots all seasons. Takes about half a day to break the boots in and then it’s like walking on clouds. Usually I wear the soles off of them before the stitching wears out. I do a lot of work that has me crawling under house, on my hands and knees and upright. I abuse these boots and they are consistently up for the challenge. Commonly they last over a year for me or more, never less. For the comfort and quality they are a great deal. I especially prefer the “steel toe” feature and the fact that these boots lack the “snaps” for the laces up top as those can ruin finished surfaces such as linoleum or hardwood from scratches etc.Slobthebuilder

For the price I dont think you can beat them. Are they red wings no, are they nicks or whites no. But there under 200$ and have lasted me a year and still going. I'm an industrial/commercial electritian and do construction on the side so yes these boots take a beating. I honestly thing for 150$ your not going to find a better boot that's comfy and durable. Listen I own red wings, timberland, other Irish setter wing shooters , Thursday boots, and many others and this is by far my favorite work work boot. Everyone should own a pair of these. They do run big, I usually wear a 9-9.5 in gym shoes these I wear an 8.5EE so I'd recommend going a half size down from your gym shoe size same goes for red wings (just an FYI) I'll be getting another pair once these are done lol they may even be re soleable if so ill probably go ahead and do that so there's no break in period and there already formed to my foot. You will not be disappointed with these boot I can almost guarantee you that, you will need to break these in but it's a pretty short break in period when compared to other high end boots depending on what you do and how often you wear them id say anywhere from 1-3 weeksTylers513

I bought these Herman survivors April of last year 2020 and January 2021 these shoes are completely unusable. The outsides of these shoes really seem to have held up with what walking 2 to 4 miles a day and 9 hour work schedule but the insides completely disintegrated. The first thing that went was the felt lining where the heel sits it was completely ripped down to the outside leather and the biggest problem is these shoes use a custom thick inner sole that can't be replaced. The inner soles started to disintegrate around September of 2020 I went back to Walmart and bought another set of the end inner soles but all seem to be not thick enough and the sides of the feet are resting on the insides of the shoes which hurts. I've developed bloody sores on the sides of my feet after I replace the inner soles. these shoes are only good for about four months of light use and I couldn't even make a year with these shoes so I had to throw them out. In conclusion they fall apart too fast.John

I bought these about a year ago. I do fire inspections and I'm not on construction sites or that type of thing but I'm in heavy manufacturing plants and those kinds of places so I'm required to wear steel toe. These never got a drop of water on them or muddy and within 6 months of just walking in them, they both split on the top outsides where the steel toe would meet the material. For what I do, I get a minimum of 2 years from a sub-$100 pair of work boots so I'm a bit disappointed. They ARE comfortable to walk in, to be fair and had no/minimal "break in" period. But when they're split, its considered faulty PPE so I can't use them for work.Dasho

I got these to replace a pair of Red Wing 606 work boots that I wore daily for about 4 years or so. I loved those boots but eventually the toes blew out on them and they had to be retired. My workplace started a safety boot allowance and the Red Wings just weren't in the budget (or even close). I found these Wolverines and wanted to see if they would even come close to the realm of comfort and durability of the Red Wings. I've been wearing them every day at work for close to 7 months. I have to say, I don't miss my Red Wings one bit. These are fantastic boots for the price. The insoles that come with them are actually quite comfortable, even for my high arched feet. I did however just replace them as they started to fall apart, but insoles should be changed about every 6 months or so, so no fault on the boots. The sole is wearing like iron and has hardly changed since new. The laces aren't super durable, but they aren't terrible either and at least they are kind of chunky and easy to lace. These boots aren't lined so they are fairly cool in hot temps. The only issue I've had is the toe on the right boot has started to wear through to the steel toe. This actually came from working on non-slip flooring (the kind with an abrasive texture) all day, and is likely how my Red Wings met the same demise. If you work on your knees on these types of floors, you might want to look for a pair that has toe bumpers. A word on sizing, I normally wear a 10D in work boots. I had to order a 9.5XW in order to get these to fit properly. They are the most narrow boots I've ever worn. If you have even moderately wide feet, these may not work for you. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the quality of these boots and would happily buy them again.Monkeywrench20

I have had two pairs and after a few years of not using very much (Hunting or Walks in woods) the first pair soles turned to mush. In fact if walking on gravel the rocks would embed in the soles. Thought is was something I had done. The boots are very comforable. I bought another pair two years ago. Very comfortable. Last month pulled them out to wear. Walked around the yard and after about 20 minutes the soles turned to mush like the previous pair with rocks and sticks embedding themselves into the soles. I could pull pieces of the sole from the boot. this was not just in spots but the entire sole of both boots.membo

Let's just start off by saying that I am in the process of shopping for a new pair of boots. Why? Because my McKays are starting to smell awful. Why? Because they have lasted me SEVEN years. I have worn these boots every single weekday for the last seven years, walking anywhere between 5-8 miles per day (according to my watches and phones over the years), and they are still holding up well. The tread is essentially gone, as expect from a boot that has been continually used heavily for seven years. There is tearing on the toes, also expected for this length of time. Honestly, I have absolutely no idea how the sole hasn't separated from the leather, but as a result, I will NEVER not buy Wolverines from now on. Incredible quality and life on these. A job well done on these, but it's time to retire them and try something new; something with a lower profile since I only work inside now.Big Fella

Would give 5 stars because the boot does fit well and it is 4E Width. The reason for 3 stars is with in the first week two eye hooks popped out. So does have some poor craftsmanship. I’ve owned 5 pairs so far and 4 have lost eye hooks. On all 5 the laces go out in about two to three months for me and I always carry an extra pair from an old boot or new laces on the truck. Lastly the nylon shank must be really really thin because out of the back x you can bend these boots in half and a shank is what’s suppose to prevent that. The shank helps really well with fatigue and foot problems. The leather on the toes holds up like every boot I get after 6 months holes wear into them. I work pipeline and on my feet 10-15 hours a day, 5/6 days a week. I put lots of miles on these and lucky to get 7 months out of any boot.Rock

The fit is a bit on the wide side. I wear a 4E and I think I may be able to get away with wearing these in a size EEE. Other than that, I cannot say more since I have not had occassion to wear them yet, other to say that they are a heavy boot, great for work but not good for hunting or hiking , which would be obvious to most, I feel bad about assigning a star value, but the powers that be seem anxious to get a rating so I am not waiting till I actually wear them:~)Kenneth

These boots are very comfortable to wear every day with out fail. I would recommend these boots to anyone. But.. only if you don't work on your knees a good majority of your time the first month i had them, a lace hook broke on both boots. I contacted wolverine about this and they offered to replace the boots, unfortunately i needed them for work and could not be with out boots for a minimum of 2 weeks. And now a year later there are holes in the toes on each boot. each day its getting worse. If i could repair the toes id still be thrilled about wearing them every day as they barely feel as though im wearing work boots. now i find myself in the position of getting new boots, and for my monstrous feet my options are severely limited.Gutross

Nothing bad, just nothing special. Not the best or the worst. Price is fair for the product. Just nothing to get excited about. Need more time to fully judge. Amazing boots! After putting them in, I did not want to take them off- and wore them the rest of the day. Often Steel toe boots are heavy and uncomfortable- these are not. I ordered these boots since I have heard good things about them basically being like atiat boots but without the internal lining problems the ariat boots have. I ordered 14ee and they were longer from heel to toe than my Redwing so had to downsize, they did seem like a comfortable well mad boot tho so can't Waite to receive the replacements. Only downside I can think of is the picture makes them look Grey in the shaft and dark brown on foot area when in reality it is a greenish blue shaft and almost a redish brown foot area but after some mink oil and good old oilfield mud they should darken up nicely.Justin

Amazing boots! After putting them in, I did not want to take them off- and wore them the rest of the day. Often Steel toe boots are heavy and uncomfortable- these are not. The diehard work boots are more expensive than others , but they seem to hold up alot better than the cheaper priced boots in the same designmacs59chevy

I've had 3 pairs of these boots. I am on my 4th. I've worked on the railroad walking ballast for hours at a time, used them in industrial environments, up and down steps all day, on pavement , up and down fixed ladders, and have worn them for 16+ hours in a row. The boots have never started to hurt my feet or became uncomfortable. I wore the soles out in all of them first. Despite the shorter 6" heel, I've always felt I had great ankle support. These boots are meant for work. They've never failed me before I could have reasonably expected them too. Get boots that fit your feet.Daniel

The online sizing guide told me to get 10.5/medium. They were PAINFULLY tight. I wore them indoors for a couple days thinking they might “break in”. That didn’t help at all and I ended up with bruises. I returned them for an in-store credit and immediately ordered the same boots in 11/wide. They really are great looking boots, and I expect the replacements to fit perfectly. Do yourself a favor and order a 1/2 size largerjonmac

I have to say, I love these boots! I usually wear 8" logger boots for heavy work, but I wanted a 6" pair that I could wear for Summer with thinner crew type socks rather than Ragg wool socks with a liner. I wear Carhartt everything else, so I thought I would try their boots. These boots are easy to put on and take off. There was no break-in period at all and they were very comfortable right out of the box. They aren't as heavy as the 8", so I hardly notice them. The heel and ankle guards offer support and the steel toe offers protection without cramping in the toe box. Somehow I got the perfect size without having to try on Carhartts at a store. I was especially worried about this, even though I used the Carhartt sizing guide. I wear 11½W in Chippewa, 9½ in Converse, and 11 in Puma [I used the Nike brand for this size with the guide]. The guide recommended a 10½M and it was perfect! I've only worn these for a month so have no issues with break down of the soles, as others have noted. I think Carhartt hit this one out of the park. I have had these boots a little over a year and a half and absolutely love them. I am a forester so I walk a lot in woods but also wanted something that looked decent in the office. These boots fit that description. The wedge sole is incredibly comfortable. I have never had this type of sole before and was blown away from the moment I put them on. I went a 3 day conference in a big city and the walking all day on hard surfaces really took a toll on me with a different pair of boots. Had to switch back those and it was night and day. Should have only taken this pair with me honestly and just cleaned them up after my field visit the day before the conference. The steel toe portion, which is required for my job, is very comfortable. I was afraid that the traction would be poor in wet conditions but I only found that to really be the case when in muddy conditions but its about the same as I have experienced with other less aggressive tread patterns on boots. These boots are light enough to make walking long distances comfortable. I don’t find myself dragging my feet towards the end of long days as I have found with other boots. I am honestly shocked at how well these boots are holding up. The leather looks great and shamefully I haven’t even taken care of it at all. They get sprayed with bug spray everyday when its warm and often get soaked or caked with mud. The soles look great, the light tread is holding up very well.Forester Taylor

These lasted for about 4 to 6 months before the sole cracked in multiple areas on both boots. Unfortunate, because they just broke in. I work 10 to 12 hour days at least five days a week on concrete, for reference. I wish they lasted longer, but that’s the reality. I took care of them and even alternated days between these and some 2 year old Thorogoods which I am now forced into to wearing again. I wish I had taken better care of my Thorogoods like I did with my wolverines, but truth be told I took pride in beating them daily through work during the pandemic. It’s too bad and seems like such a waste of the leather boot that was nicely broke in.E

Ordered size 13 (my normal size) but they were a bit too big so returned for a 12. Returns to Wolverine were quick and easy. Size 12's arrived and fit perfectly. Comfortable out of the box – great height for me as they are pretty quick on & off. I have a small farm but also do some 'city' work and I wear them for both. I know a lot of products say "as comfortable in the coffee shop as on the slopes" or whatever, but these really are. Also love that they don't have real deep treads so you don't track mud and dirt everywhere you go. I'd buy these again.Eric
