The fabric is sturdy, the stitching is triple with close-spaced quality, the lining is precisely fitted. they are surprisingly comfortable and handle outdoor work and walks/hikes well. there's a phone holster pocket on the upper right leg and an equipment loop. The zipper is a heavier construction and is sturdy as well. I couldn't be happier with them. One drawback to the canvas, it is a sawdust-catcher and no amount of brushing or compressed air will knock it off if you're doing any sanding – comes with the territory.meep

As I am a below knee amputee and because of the way a prosthetic limb is designed, pants wear out at the knees very quickly. The double knees Red Kap pants are the best! The material is strong and stitching is solid. I have had other double knees pants from another well know manufacturer and the Red kaps are so much better. The fit is perfect as well and I really like the side pockets for cell phone.David C

Companies change over time and sometimes not for the better. I had some old Red Kap uniforms that I had been wearing 6 days a week for 4 years. I washed them with our regular laundry at home. They stayed comfortable and held up great. I considered the other choices but decided to go with Red Kap for my new custom mechanic shop uniforms. I used my usual size and everything came quickly and fit perfect. Pants were long but I didn't measure and it was nothing a hem can't fix. I love the comfort stretch waistline. This is the second time I have purchased these for my husband. First purchase was 3 years ago and these have held up so nice. No holes, no wear marks they still look absolutely great. The only reason had to buy new ones is because needed a larger size! Otherwise he would still be wearing, now to answer everyone's question? What line of work does he do, he is a maintenance man. He is in hydraulic fluid, grease, oil and all the other gross messy stuff everyday. Otherwise he does not have a clean job! What he puts these pants through is a lot. The pants are comfortable and thick providing great protection while working outside on the farm or on a construction project. They are much better quality than the non-USA made Carhartt pants. Worth the extra cost. The black is a great option to hide oil stains. They work well with a belt and clip-on suspenders. Right side leg pocket works well for holding cell phone. The top pockets hold up very well to pocket clip ware. Very strong material inside the pockets as well.Daniel

Bought these after trying on a pair my friend had. I’m a woman and was looking for good wide leg work pant. I hold my weight more in my stomach and not in my hips or legs too much, and these fit me perfectly / don’t have balloon legs or butt sag! I might buy them in another color because honestly they are better than any women’s pants I’ve bought in the last 5 years (durable, thick material, lots of pockets, affordable). I bought a size up in the waist measurement and I’m glad I did because I hate when I’m moving around and the waist of my pants are digging into my stomach. Nice pants. They look nice but aren't as strong as I hoped. I've been wearing holes through the knees in a few months. I don't wear knee pads but if I used the pads that fit in the pants they would still wear fast. This is just keeping up maintenance on my property, woodwork and repairing my vehicles. I hoped to get more time out of these but they are still stronger then most. I read people saying they have pants last them years. They must not do any physical on the ground work with them. Ordered four pairs of these for my 6’8” and 290 lb. son… then quickly ordered two more pair right after. They are excellent quality and he’s really happy with them. Some set aside for work and the others for nice wear. He says they’re comfortable and he likes how they feel and flex and he loves all the pockets! The affordability and color choices are great too! I like the work pant but don’t like the pockets. I wore them one day and my keys and stuff fell out when I leaned back on my recliner. I bought the some Carhartts years go I still wear. The pockets were 3 inches deeper than the new ones and things didn’t fall out when I sit down. I like I right side pocket on the Carhartt’s for my cellphone. I normally like blue jeans because of the pockets don’t flare out and are cut higher but I want the cellphone pocket as well. But overall they are very nice and comfortable. LeoRachel

Yes, if you wash them, they will shrink. But if you dry them with any amount of heat they will shrink a lot more! Up to 4" in length, and approx. 1 to 1-1/2" in the waist. Bought 3 Pair. I tried them on in store at the time of purchase and bought 34 waist and 34 length. Wife bought me an additional pair 3 months later. Decided to save two of the pairs for winter, and only wear two pair for a trial. Comparison: Levi 550 – 33 waist, 36 length fits me great after washing and drying. 6 months later.. could hardly wear the pants, they had shrunk so much. Felt like a 32 waist and 32 length from Levi's Solution: Go two inches larger in waist and 1 – 2" longer in length. (if possible, I'm 6' 2" and all legs) And don't use heat to dry them. If you do use heat, go 3" wider waist and 4" longer in length from what you would purchase from Levi… if possible. Carhart: 35 waist, 36 length fits me good. And I Air Dry them, no heat. I took pictures of the new pair (unwashed and undried) and the two pair (washed and dried with heat for 6 months) that I had purchased earlier and dried as normal with heat in the dryer, as well as taking the pants in, and showed them to the store manager. (all the same size) No one had ever shown them that before. They were blown away at the shrinkage. All that said, the pants are great, I won't be going back to Levi's, they simply don't hold up as well as Carhart's, and I love the feel of the pants. I did rewash the pants, stretched them out each time, and let them air dry, and their getting better in length but still tight in the waist. Hopefully that helps.RadDad

I've worn Dickies for years. I recently bought 3 pair, two 874 Flex, and 1, pair 874 Original. Dickies has really strange belt loops. On the 874 Originals, the belt loops are spaced every 3 inches, and are so tight, I actually have to sit down and thread flat belt through the loops. My belt from Walmart, branded Dickies, is almost too wide to fit. It's 1.25 inches wide and 1/8 inch thick. Dickies seems to think a work belt is 1 inch wide, like some old dress belts. It's difficult to thread the extra end back through the loops. The belt loops are better on the 874 Flex pants. It's difficult to get your hands into the pockets if you are wearing any work glove. And the zipper pull is almost impossible to grasp it's so small. Also I had to buy a size larger than normal.McMurry61

I will wear your pants forever but you change the designs too often. When I go to buy new ones there seem to be none like I bought previously but there are new ones I can't gather enough information from your website to judge correctly. The last four orders I bought from your website I either sent back of donated away. Specifically, this latest occasion, your pictures on the website did not show the waistband in enough detail. I bought them anyway because the name of them sounded correct. Once they arrived I learned the FLEX in the name does not refer to the old elastic band in the waistband which you no longer make for some reason. Double disappointment. I will figure it out because Dickies are perfect work pants. And, they are stylish enough I can leave the jobsite and meet with customers or have a business lunch without having to change. Overall I really LOVE these pants. They are made from a material that feels durable, is super comfortable and it fits really well. The pockets are laid out nicely, and accessible. I use these pants for work, and wear socially. These pants are a great alternative to jeans – they fit much better, don't stretch out and the well placed pockets / design provides great places for wallet, keys, and mobile phones. I have been through many work / casual pants in the past I have to say with confidence that these feel the best all around from a first impression. I really like these pants, they are very comfortable. I have two issues with them the belt loops closest to the button at the waist are too close to the belt loops on the side of the pants. Adding another two or three inches between the side belt loops and the front belt loops would be great. The second issue is more serious. These pants wear out in the crotch quickly, the pants seem durable everywhere else but right next to the seam and the the point where the material joins and up the back side about three inches the material gets thin very quickly. If this only happened to one pair of pants I wouldn't say anything but I have 4 pairs of these pants and it has happened to all four. I have ironed in patches because the rest of pant is in good shape.MichaelK

These are very nice pants. The fabric is soft and rich-feeling, not stiff and rough, and feels nice against my skin, but is not at all flimsy. Seams are flat-sewn, and lie down nicely. The pockets are made of sturdy material. They are high in the waist, and they run long. My wife had to shorten them for me. They bind me in the knees just a little bit, which would be a problem if I was working in them, which I'm not. I think they will loosen up over time. The front two belt loops are too far to the side and back, and need to be more to front and center, but that was not a big problem. They are more a casual pant than a rugged work pant.MIKE

These bn2802 in tarmac are not relaxed fit. I'm a 32×30 in other carhartt pants. I went up to 32×30 and after I wash them they're tight around my thighs and the crotch area seems too short. I work hard landscaping moving around alot and they bunch up my boxers all day. I had 2 khaki pairs that fit amazing and felt great all day. Well I went to buy this color and they're like a completely different pant…they're skinny jeans pretty much. I used to exclusively wear carhartt and I'm pretty sure they're going down hill fast. **CARHARTT do better, read these reviews and charge me $100 for a pair of pants…I don't care about the price just make better stuff. I think now that yall have a name you're cutting corners and screwing us that have been working hard in your gear for decades. My 2 centsJohn

Like a few others among the comments, I hoped these pants in the "Natural" fabric would work as a replacement for the long discontinued B-04 Double Front Painter Pants. They're not. Part of my disappointment is my own fault: I didn't notice that there was no hammer loop (good for rags) and no real tool pockets. They just don't seem designed for work. These are my frustrations: 1. The fabric is kind of stretchy, designed to flex with movement. But I don't like exerting against fabric and prefer a looser fit. Also the fabric in "Natural" is a bit translucent — when I wear dark color underwear it's sort of visible through the fabric. 2. The double fronts are advertised as being compatible with knee pads, but it's ridiculously difficult to insert them through the cleanout hole., and removing them is even worse. The Carhartt brand kneepads are designed to be left in the pants, which would mitigate the difficulty — but would also add $40 to the price of every pair of pants you want to set up. 3. I've already mentioned the lack of tool pockets/hammer loop, but the cell phone pocket is kind of small. Anything bigger than an iPhone 7/8 won't fit. 4. I bought a LOT of Carhartt gear over the years and they were always the standard for work wear. These days they're leaning more and more towards leisure wear, and that's OK if it's where the market is, but at least step up the game on the workwear. When the B-04s disappeared I switched to some innovative pants with built in kneepad pockets and tool pockets on the front of the thighs. That company was too small to compete and eventually folded — but the design was great. I guess it's too much to hope for a return of the B-04 pants, but it would be nice to see Carhartt innovate a little: dedicated kneepad pockets, thoughtful placement of tool pockets and realistically sized cell phone pockets would be great.RichardP

I will start by saying that I am a professional plumber who works mostly on multi family residential job sites so usually my pants take an absolute beating from glue, mud, sawdust, nails, sweat, and anything else you could imagine on a large jobsite. These pants have many features that quickly made them my favorite pair however I have found that their durability is not quite what I expected. Starting with the good: these pants fit and feel absolutely amazing. I purchased a size 35 which I really appreciate because it’s an in between size that isn’t always offered but it fits me just right. The material is soft and breathable, it feels good on my skin and isn’t terribly hot even when the weather is. The double front helps protect me from glue that I am always dripping on myself when working with pvc and cpvc which I do probably 75 percent of the time. It also helps protect my knees when I’m kneeling on the rough plywood subfloor or concrete. Overall I couldn’t be happier with the fit and feel of these pants. I also really love the pocket layout these pants have. I carry a knife, a pencil, and a marker with me 100 percent of the time and my favorite place to have them is in a carpenters pocket on the right side. These pants have a nice large pocket with a great cut on the right side that makes it so easy to fish out my pencil or knife without struggle. I also use the leg pocket on the left side all the time for tools I’m currently using such as my adjustable pliers or 6 way screw driver. I also really love the cut of the front pockets and how wide and low they come down which makes it so easy to get my hand in there and pull out my cell phone while I’m wearing my tool belt which is something I have had problems with on many pairs of work pants in the past. Lastly I really like the number of belt loops and their locations. I always wear a leather tape measure pouch and there is a spot in the belt loops on both sides up front that are a great place to lace in that pouch and they prevent it from sliding around or getting in my way too much. Now on to the bad: I have owned these pants for about 3 months and just recently the crotch decided it was going to rip out right in the front where everyone can see. I purchased these pants specifically because they have a crotch gusset and being 6 foot 4 inches tall I tend to have a problem with flexibility in that region. Come to find out I had the wrong expectation of these pants. Although the stitching is strong, the actual fabric of the pants just couldn’t hold up. Maybe that’s just the trade off for the nice comfortable “flex” fabric. Maybe if you are short or don’t do a ton of bending and squatting these are the pants for you, but they just don’t seem to be fit for what I demand of them and therefor I give them a disappointing 2 starsChristian

This is already third time I bought the corduroy pants for my husbands. They fit well, material washes well, the slightly expandable belt adds to comfort. My husband’s only complaint is that the button is very difficult to close and open. I saw many reviews with the same complaint and I am surprised that Haggar hasn’t done anything about it. My husband has the same complaint as many other reviewers: the problem with button and closing and opening it. I am surprised that Haggar hasn’t corrected the problem. My solution has been simple and works well: I removed the buttons and sewn them with more space between the button and the fabric. Problem solved. The lighter colors work as informal sports wear with the beautiful darker colors being a bit more formal. They are three season pants, good for early spring, late fall, and winter. This has become my favorite make and mode of work pants. I have bought several pairs of these pants over the past few years, and I'm always pleased with them. I wear these pants casually around the house, and also for all of my outdoor work. A bit warm in the summer, but the mosquitoes love me, so these pants are my go-to choice all 12 months of the year. New pairs always come a bit stiff and slick, but after a handful of washings they become much softer and more comfortable. Fit has consistently been true to size. The pockets are large, well-shaped, and useful. Final thought, they definitely are too thick and too roomy to be fashionable; my wife won't let me wear mine out and about with her. But for work, or even for around the house, they are a fantastic choice.Ryan

I do building maintenance and all-around repairs for a facility for Autistic Children and Adults with special needs. That being said they keep me pretty busy with repairs of all kinds. I have been wearing these pants for well over 6 years and they never let me down when it comes to their ruggedness and durability. The side pouch comes in handy for my cell phone as well as the cargo pockets allow me plenty of room for whatever I may need to carry or bring back to my office. I also wear the shorts in the late Spring and Summer. Great pants. My Son has a Hardscape business and His pant choice is the same. Not to mention His buddies that are 150 operators, they also prefer these pants. In the winter I wear the fleece-lined versions. Very warm!Boats

There should be two belt loops in the back instead of one narrow belt loop that digs into your spine when you sit against a hard surface, like these pants have. Wrangler's hiking cargo pants have a wide belt loop on the back that isn't uncomfortable, so that would also be a good fix for the design. The belt loops in the front are a bit close together for my taste, but the pants serve their purpose. Aluminum and stainless chips are usually easy to blast off with compressed air, and the utility loop is just the right size for everything from abused calipers to deadblows to barcode scanner wands. The knee was not flexible and would stick to my skin for the first couple months, but I either got used to it or the problem resolved itself. The extra pockets on the right are good for a pencil & Sharpie, and having a 6" scale handy. I can tell by the styling on the back pockets that I'm far from the only one wearing these pants. The Loden color is a decent compromise between an olive green and a depressingly drab and dark industrial muck color. The "R" on the fly button on mine was skewed way off from vertical, but that doesn't matter because if you're not wearing these work pants with a belt, I think you're confused. I think I might look for a different brand for a second pair of work pants in a different color because I know there are comparable models with more belt loops that don't dig into the spine, but I would be content with another pair of these pants in a different color. The Ripstop feature is thankfully not one I have made use of, at least to my knowledge.Student Machinist

Ordered several pair of these for multiple employees. We were having a hard time getting these due to supply chain issues caused by COVID. The guys always know what to expect with these. They're heavier than standard denim jeans, which makes them feel stiff at first. After a few washes, they do soften up. These are not meant to be straight or slim fit, they're wider all the way down there leg. They do run true to size, so sick with your waist & inseam measurements. I'm thankful we could get these & SUPER PLEASED w/ GEMPLER'S! Not only did they ship these quickly, nothing had to be backordered, nor credited, as they were able to ship all sizes that showed available & that I ordered (32×32 / 40×34 / 42×34) Gempler's accounting department & customer service are superb! I had to buy 2 pairs to get a good size. The pants are roomy but the waist seemed to run just small after laundering. I wear a wrangler 34-32 and found the Carhart 36-30 worked best. The fabric is sturdy, the stitching is triple with close-spaced quality, the lining is precisely fitted. they are surprisingly comfortable and handle outdoor work and walks/hikes well. there's a phone holster pocket on the upper right leg and an equipment loop. The zipper is a heavier construction and is sturdy as well. I couldn't be happier with them. One drawback to the canvas, it is a sawdust-catcher and no amount of brushing or compressed air will knock it off if you're doing any sanding – comes with the territory.meep

The pants are a little large however this will leave room for under layers. They fit fine with a belt. I marked the fit as true to size because I expected these pants to fit a little large, I typically wear straight cut or boot cut. Plus this leaves room for under layers on the extra cold days. The flannel is not very thick, which is great for me because my typical winter climate is H50 L30. These pants served this climate well without any under layers. Warmth: I am pleased with the warmth of these pants, in my climate…in a cooler climate you may still consider under layers. The flannel is not very thick, nowhere near as thick as a flannel shirt. It is soft and comfortable though. Appearance: they're work pants… Durability: The outer fabric seems of good quality. I expect nothing short of the Carhartt name. Quality: The product delivered as expected. These are quality pants that I would buy again. Function: The pants allow enough room to move. These bn2802 in tarmac are not relaxed fit. I'm a 32×30 in other carhartt pants. I went up to 32×30 and after I wash them they're tight around my thighs and the crotch area seems too short. I work hard landscaping moving around alot and they bunch up my boxers all day. I had 2 khaki pairs that fit amazing and felt great all day. Well I went to buy this color and they're like a completely different pant…they're skinny jeans pretty much. I used to exclusively wear carhartt and I'm pretty sure they're going down hill fast. **CARHARTT do better, read these reviews and charge me $100 for a pair of pants…I don't care about the price just make better stuff. I think now that yall have a name you're cutting corners and screwing us that have been working hard in your gear for decades. My 2 centsJohn

Like a few others among the comments, I hoped these pants in the "Natural" fabric would work as a replacement for the long discontinued B-04 Double Front Painter Pants. They're not. Part of my disappointment is my own fault: I didn't notice that there was no hammer loop (good for rags) and no real tool pockets. They just don't seem designed for work. These are my frustrations: 1. The fabric is kind of stretchy, designed to flex with movement. But I don't like exerting against fabric and prefer a looser fit. Also the fabric in "Natural" is a bit translucent — when I wear dark color underwear it's sort of visible through the fabric. 2. The double fronts are advertised as being compatible with knee pads, but it's ridiculously difficult to insert them through the cleanout hole., and removing them is even worse. The Carhartt brand kneepads are designed to be left in the pants, which would mitigate the difficulty — but would also add $40 to the price of every pair of pants you want to set up. 3. I've already mentioned the lack of tool pockets/hammer loop, but the cell phone pocket is kind of small. Anything bigger than an iPhone 7/8 won't fit. 4. I bought a LOT of Carhartt gear over the years and they were always the standard for work wear. These days they're leaning more and more towards leisure wear, and that's OK if it's where the market is, but at least step up the game on the workwear. When the B-04s disappeared I switched to some innovative pants with built in kneepad pockets and tool pockets on the front of the thighs. That company was too small to compete and eventually folded — but the design was great. I guess it's too much to hope for a return of the B-04 pants, but it would be nice to see Carhartt innovate a little: dedicated kneepad pockets, thoughtful placement of tool pockets and realistically sized cell phone pockets would be great.RichardP

I will start by saying that I am a professional plumber who works mostly on multi family residential job sites so usually my pants take an absolute beating from glue, mud, sawdust, nails, sweat, and anything else you could imagine on a large jobsite. These pants have many features that quickly made them my favorite pair however I have found that their durability is not quite what I expected. Starting with the good: these pants fit and feel absolutely amazing. I purchased a size 35 which I really appreciate because it’s an in between size that isn’t always offered but it fits me just right. The material is soft and breathable, it feels good on my skin and isn’t terribly hot even when the weather is. The double front helps protect me from glue that I am always dripping on myself when working with pvc and cpvc which I do probably 75 percent of the time. It also helps protect my knees when I’m kneeling on the rough plywood subfloor or concrete. Overall I couldn’t be happier with the fit and feel of these pants. I also really love the pocket layout these pants have. I carry a knife, a pencil, and a marker with me 100 percent of the time and my favorite place to have them is in a carpenters pocket on the right side. These pants have a nice large pocket with a great cut on the right side that makes it so easy to fish out my pencil or knife without struggle. I also use the leg pocket on the left side all the time for tools I’m currently using such as my adjustable pliers or 6 way screw driver. I also really love the cut of the front pockets and how wide and low they come down which makes it so easy to get my hand in there and pull out my cell phone while I’m wearing my tool belt which is something I have had problems with on many pairs of work pants in the past. Lastly I really like the number of belt loops and their locations. I always wear a leather tape measure pouch and there is a spot in the belt loops on both sides up front that are a great place to lace in that pouch and they prevent it from sliding around or getting in my way too much. Now on to the bad: I have owned these pants for about 3 months and just recently the crotch decided it was going to rip out right in the front where everyone can see. I purchased these pants specifically because they have a crotch gusset and being 6 foot 4 inches tall I tend to have a problem with flexibility in that region. Come to find out I had the wrong expectation of these pants. Although the stitching is strong, the actual fabric of the pants just couldn’t hold up. Maybe that’s just the trade off for the nice comfortable “flex” fabric. Maybe if you are short or don’t do a ton of bending and squatting these are the pants for you, but they just don’t seem to be fit for what I demand of them and therefor I give them a disappointing 2 starsChristian

These have to be the most comfortabile pants I have ever worn they are versatile – use them for yard work or pair them with a sport coat for a night on the town. The cell phone pocket on the right leg is a perfect size. I orded two for camping and after I received them, ordered two more. They are comfortable and the material is soft right out of the package. These pants are extremely comfortable and the flexibility/range of motion is superb. They are tough enough for medium duty use but I wouldn't call them "work" pants. I put a small hole in the pocket of one pair on a screw sticking out of a wall the first time I wore them. I think they would be perfectly suited for the range, ATV/horseback riding, general farm use, and most hunting scenarios (which are my intended purposes). I would NOT expect these to survive on a construction site or if you expect to encounter a lot of wild rose and blackberry brambles. All that being said, I love these pants and would highly recommend them for their comfort and range of motion as long as the user is aware that they aren't going to be as tough as heavy denim work pants.Brant89

I bought these because I wanted a work pant that would be a bit lighter weight and cooler than the Ditchdigger Pro. They do not disappoint! The fabric is softer while still remaining durable and the flex waistband is a key signature feature. Love the deep pockets with the small hidden pocket to keep my keys from sliding around.Brent B

I rarely wright reviews unless the product is exceptional. I had high expectations for these pants and honestly these pants are beyond awesome. Super comfy, soft to the touch with a more streamline cut and tough as nails. I use them for logging. Logging beats the heck out of you, your equipment and clothing. These pants stand up to the abuse I put them through with all day comfort. I am very impressed with the quality and fit of these jeans. If I had any complaint, it would be the narrowing of the legs in the calf area. I wear slip on work boots and the cuffs are very tight on the boots. But that is a very small issue. Overall am very happy with the jeans. So much so I ordered 2 more pairs.Rouns J
