I love this yarn. First of all, I should note that more things should be made of bamboo. It grows very quickly and uses much less water than cotton. It's great for the environment. We should be making fabric, paper, wood, and more from bamboo. And the yarn, at least this yarn, is SOFT! It's so silky soft I can't stop touching it. It can be a little tricky to get used to knitting with it, because it is a little slippery. But once you get used to it, it's really easy to keep even tension, and whatever you're making will feel so nice! I absolutely adore this yarn, and I'm going to keep buying it as long as they keep selling it.
I bought this yarn on a whim because it is 100% Rayon from Bamboo, instead of blended with another material. I was NOT disappointed. This yarn is so incredibly soft and luxurious. I will not go back to other yarns unless I absolutely have to. Since my first project (a tan pocket scarf), I have purchased blue, thistle, white, slate, seafoam, and mulberry. The yarn also makes great beanies. My only complaint is that the photos of the colors are not true representations of what you receive, aside from the white. Just assume what you're getting is a muted color of the picture, and you should be fine. Despite that drawback, I still give the yarn 5 stars because it is worth every bit of that.JadeB
As others have said, this yarn splits easily. That’s true. You have to be a bit more careful in your stitching. However, if you can deal with that this yarn is like nothing else I’ve worked with. The drape and softness are just like nothing else I’ve worked with. I’d argue it is better then high end silk yarns. And what’s better is that the end product is not high maintenance. There is no concern about itching from animal fibers, and it can be washed! So in summary, I have to crochet about 20% slower but I find it a worthy trade off to get an end product that is like nothing else.sojaco

I ordered this for curbside pickup and it was not plain white. I couldn’t see the silver thread online and nothing in the description mentioned Starlight (metallic name on linbrand.com) on Joann.com. There was literally no way to tell that this was not plain white. I like wool ease but no one really wants this yarn. They have oodles of balls of this stuff and nothing in plain white. I don’t know if the Joann in Redmond even carries plain white, as there was nothing to exchange. The first ball was fine and it knitted up well. It is a heavy worsted yarn. Ball two has been a nightmare. It’s full of “knots” where lengths are joined together. I came across so far two areas of frayed yarn. I had to take out a row because the yarn is not useable. I’m now pulling out lengths of yarn prior to starting a row so I won’t have to stop in the middle of a row and go back and start the row again. Crocheted two vests for grands. Yarn appears to have a white cotton fiber twisted with the multicolored polyester one. Came untwisted regularly. Tried knitting with it first but was too frustrating. At least with the hook I could snag the errand line. Not pleasant feeling on one's hands. I've purchased several colors / skeins of Sugar 'n Cream yarn before and have always been very happy. But this skein of yarn gave me problems. I came across a knot within the first 1/4 of the skein, which was actually holding two different ends together. I cut the knot out and wove in the two ends. But the worst was the twisted 4 ply kept separating, unwinding. It made it difficult to knit, and showed in the knitted piece when finished. I was only knitting dish cloths so I struggled through it. Have used Sugar 'n Cream cotton for decades and it's wonderful. Makes incredibly soft, comfortable garments that are good for all but the hottest days (and not bad even on those). Comes in a terrific range of colors, and holds up terrifically. I still have garments from A Decade I Refuse to Name (disco was involved) that are going strong. Just be sure to wash in cold water (hand or machine) and lay out to dry. This yarn is strong, so it's okay to wring out as much water as you can to speed up the drying process. I just got 67 skeins of this yarn for 4 upcoming projects. I was a little leery buying a yarn I've never bought before. But, the good reviews and anti-pilling sold me. I'm halfway through the first project. The yarn is soft. I'd say on a scale from 1 – 10 with 1 being very scratchy and 10 being the softed you can get, I'd put this one at an 8. I've felt softer but, if it doesn't pill its worth the difference. Nothing is worse than spending hours and hours on a project only to wash it once and it's full of fuzzies!! I bought 4 skeins of the neon pink about a year ago simply based off the beauty of the color. I hadn't touched it for months, never having had anything to make with it until a friend found out she was having a baby girl. She didn't want a blanket that was solely a classic pink. she wanted one that had a major pop of pink that made the blanket special to her daughter even in her pre-teen years. The yarn is so easy to work with and the anti-pilling feature of it is actually true. I am so disappointed in this yarn. I always trusted Lion Brand yarns but will not anymore. I bought 3 skeins of Pound of Love yarn on sale at Joann’s to make a light weight blanket. I’ve been crocheting for years and and quite familiar with the center pull start but none of these had a center pull that worked. I’ve even had times when a little clump of yarn came out before the center pull worked but none of these had a center pull that worked. I literally spent hours on each skein rolling balls from the OUTSIDE of the skeins. I had to put the purchased pounds of yarn in a laundry basket so they would have room to bounce around while I wound the balls. I was not a happy camper. It took me 1 1/2 days to wind three one-pound skeins. A pound of yarn really is quite a bit and this was made more difficult because I am a senior and have mobility problems. I thought of going back to Joanns with these messes but it wasn’t worth the bus ride and also because I agonized over the color choices since my first choices weren’t available. Returning what I had bought just didn’t seem like a good option. I won’t ever buy Pound of Love yarn again, and I certainly don’t recommend it.DeeB

If you want a cheap, blanket fast, this is it. If you want a soft blanket that you wrap your newborn up in softness and a skein that has no frays, look elsewhere. This is a decent yarn if you use a large enough hook and an open pattern to fool yourself into thinking it’s soft. It’s not. I do appreciate that the colors I used (pink, the light blue and white) were all the same thickness, something that doesn’t always happen with cheaper, saver type yarns. I made a 36”x36” using less than 1/2 a skein of each in A V stitch (including the 2” border) and a J hook. I’m not sure what I’ll do with the rest of the yarn. I don’t recommend it.Lynn78

I've used this yarn for many items and it always works up great. It has great stitch definition, wears well and is suitable for heavier lace knitting in northern climates where warmth is needed. One of the best qualities is how it wet blocks. It blocks like a dream and so many times adjustments for fit can be altered by blocking. I bought this yarn to try out for a new pattern I found for socks. I usually use sock weight yarn in a washable wool with some nylon content (at a much higher price) for durability, but since I'm experimenting, thought I'd give this a try. Great assortment of colors. Unfortunately all 3 Michael’s stores run out of a particular color and it takes week for them to replenish that color and we have to drive to jersey or Manhattan to get the same color. More often than not the shelves are empty but the extra yarn inventory is up on top of the shelves ( not accessible to customers ) still in boxes so we can see the color but none of the Associates stop and take the yarn down and replace all the empty spots that had the yarn. The empty spots could be empty for 4-5 days before any of the associates take the extra yarn down and replace so customers have access. Lines in most stores have 6-7 people waiting and its bit until a customer voices their annoyance that another associate comes up front and jumps on a register. We see 3-4 associates on the floor – sometimes chatting among themselves – and the line grows and grows before one of the associstes HAVE to open another register. This is a common complaint with all the 3 stores on Staten Island.
i like this yarn obviously for the price. i've made a few nice throws with it. however, not all of the colors have the same feel and weight, which is frustrating when trying to use different colors in the same project. i recently bought the white and the mushroom to make a checkerboard throw and the white is significantly thinner in feel, while the mushroom is thicker and rougher feeling. pretty disappointing to see such different textures in weights from a product that should be the same but a different color.DoloresP

This is the first time I’ve used this yarn and overall I was very happy with it and plan to use it again. It’s lovely and soft and drapes very nicely, which is what I want when making a poncho. From the moment I saw this yarn, I was in love with the colour (Redwood). Red is my favourite colour anyway, but this one is stunning: rich and beautiful with subtly different shades mixed in together. Once I used the yarn it became an instant favourite. I bought the rainforest green color. It is a great shade of green. Cotton yarn is difficult to work with mind you i am new to crochet. I have made several dishcloths using Peaches and Creme cotton yarn. I must say I prefer that brand better. I dont know if it's the skein of yarn I purchased but the yarn itself really wants to come apart. Like the little threads don't want to stay together. If you aren't careful you could mess up your work by accidently grabbing a single thread. Fortunately I am practicing a stitch but may buy peaches and creme yarn. I dont remember it pulling apart like this yarn does.julie1974
These cakes of Sugar N Cream yarn are low yardage but maybe just the right length for a smaller project (or else just pick enough skeins to complete a larger project! 😀 ) and there is also a nice color selection, especially in the vibrancy of the primary colors. I used the White cotton yarn to crochet a pineapple mandala – which my husband thinks looks like a spider web, haha – and attached it to a 19" hoop then macramed blue fringe, including a crystal selenite stick. This yarn does not slip and holds stitches tightly. This cotton yarn would be appropriate to make those grocery market sacks where you don't want the product to stretch too much when you add heavy items.Persephone

Last summer I tried Premier Cotton Fair cotton acrylic blend yarn but it was a little thin (wgt 2) for hats and too expensive to use doubled. On my quest to find a yarn with just the right fiber content to make shower poufs, I grabbed a skein of this super soft cotton/acrylic blend. The problem with using 100% cotton is that it doesn't produce that soapy lather that folks are used to with their plastic mesh shower poufs. This yarn was great to work with – glides beautifully over the hook and no issues with spitting or tangling. The shower pouf is soft and creates the perfect lather. Was looking for a solution for kids masks to be able to ship but also easy for kids to get off and on without pulling at their hair like the elastic mask strings similar to what is used for party hats. Saw a mask another crafter made who used yarn. This is perfect! Not itchy and is lightweight yet strong. I wouldn't necessarily use it for knitting or crocheting, but it's a multi-purpose yarn. I am so disappointed in this yarn. I always trusted Lion Brand yarns but will not anymore. I bought 3 skeins of Pound of Love yarn on sale at Joann’s to make a light weight blanket. I’ve been crocheting for years and and quite familiar with the center pull start but none of these had a center pull that worked. I’ve even had times when a little clump of yarn came out before the center pull worked but none of these had a center pull that worked. I literally spent hours on each skein rolling balls from the OUTSIDE of the skeins. I had to put the purchased pounds of yarn in a laundry basket so they would have room to bounce around while I wound the balls. I was not a happy camper. It took me 1 1/2 days to wind three one-pound skeins. A pound of yarn really is quite a bit and this was made more difficult because I am a senior and have mobility problems. I thought of going back to Joanns with these messes but it wasn’t worth the bus ride and also because I agonized over the color choices since my first choices weren’t available. Returning what I had bought just didn’t seem like a good option. I won’t ever buy Pound of Love yarn again, and I certainly don’t recommend it.DeeB
I make baby sweaters, snuggle bag, blankets and prayer shawls all out of pound of love yarn. It is soft and very easy to knit or crochet with. I have been using lion brand yarns for many many years. I have knittedfor about 60 years and crocheting for about 50 years. Every time I go to one of my craft groups people always ask me what yarn I am using and love the colors. If you want a cheap, blanket fast, this is it. If you want a soft blanket that you wrap your newborn up in softness and a skein that has no frays, look elsewhere. This is a decent yarn if you use a large enough hook and an open pattern to fool yourself into thinking it’s soft. It’s not. I do appreciate that the colors I used (pink, the light blue and white) were all the same thickness, something that doesn’t always happen with cheaper, saver type yarns. I made a 36”x36” using less than 1/2 a skein of each in A V stitch (including the 2” border) and a J hook. I’m not sure what I’ll do with the rest of the yarn. I don’t recommend it.Lynn78

I bought 5 skeins of the Lion Brand Baby Soft yarn in white for a baby blanket. I prefer to work from the inside of the skein and as I reached into at least 3 of the skeins (possibly all of them) the inside has been a bundle of tangled mess, including yarn joined together in several places with knots. The current skein I'm using took over 3 hours to untangle, including having to cut my project away from it and then rejoining the yarn once untangled. If I hadn't already gotten so much of the blanket done already I would have taken it all back to the store. I have never had this problem with any other yarn so I may never buy this brand again. I love the feel of it when crocheting with it and the blanket is softer than I had expected so I am pleased with that. I would really like the yarn if it wasn't for the horrible tangled and knotted mess.Becca
I bought this yarn for to make a baby afghan. After starting the piece I saw that the yarn varied in thickness. Some of the strands looked flat while others seemed more round. At one point there was a fat clump of strands that I had to use the scissors to make thin enough to use. This happened a second time but not as thick. At another point in the middle of the ball it just broke off so I had to make a knot to continue with my afghan. I would not recommend Baby Soft yarn because of the inconsistencies in the yarn. This is not the quality yarn that I expect from Lion Brand Yarn so I had to only give it two stars.Char

I chose this yarn for a large temperature blanket because of the many color options. Some of the yarn was more of a 3 weight and some almost a 5 weight. This was very disappointing. I am almost finished with my project and it looks beautiful but I was unhappy with these inconsistencies in the weight and texture of the yarn. I bought several skeins of this to work on projects for family. One being a shawl and the other a cardigan. I can't say I'm too happy with it. I've never had such trouble from any brand of yarn, save one, before. It tangles easily, unravels horribly, and is the most frustrating in terms of fibers. Because of tangles due to how poorly it unravels from the inside (every skein was the same) I decided to unravel and roll into a ball. While doing this, my entire front became engulfed in a storm of tickly fibers. I had fibers in my eyes, in my nose, my mouth, and my shirt. Inprdered three balls of this yarn for a project. Upon recieving them, twonwere similar looking (color and size) and one looked bigger and darker. I started using the two matching colors, when i finished the first ball, i realized the second one was significantly thinner and a different material (the first was what i expected, like a typical t-shirt, the second ball was more like a sports jersey). I looked at the third ball, that one is more like the second but much darker. I made what i had work (not much of a choice!) but while working the second ball, I found so many cuts in the yarn.
