I have used Indigo in a Mac for about 12 years which is infinitely configurable and supported devices is vast so I am finding the Hubitat a bit clunky and the devices are not well represented. e.g. Fibaro RGB LED dimmers do not act as you would expect and lock up. These are devices that have worked on my old system for several years. BUT there are regular updates and it is easy to configure and set up. I think it will keep growing and getting better.Neil H
Migrating to Hubitat has gone pretty smoothly so far, most of my existing devices were added easily, struggling with some old TBK sockets, managed to set up a Popp socket as generic. It's amazing how many of the old Z-Wave manufacturers don't seem to exist anymore. Hubitat rules are much more powerful and easy to create. The Dashboard could be more attractive but there's hope for future upgrades. Overall, very happy.Tony S
I'd read a lot about the C7 and decided I'd try it out to see if it would be a suitable replacement for my Vera. Initial impressions were good. The device is well packaged and is neat and tidy. Initial setup is fine and I added one or two devices (Zigbee and Z-Wave) without any issues. The problems came when I tried to add Fibaro Dimmers (Mk1 versions). Firstly I found some instances where the Hubitat just flat out refused to include them, even though they were just feet from the hub. When I did get the dimmers to include I then faced an uphill battle getting them working correctly with toggle switches (bear in mind they worked perfectly with Vera). I was also not a fan of the dashboard. Again, I am sure it is a very powerful dashboard, but out of the box it is ugly and deeply inelegant. It would also fall out of sync with the paired devices, not displaying the correct status. I have since deleted the few devices I tried out and added them back to Vera where they now work again. I think what we have here is good hardware crippled by a poor UI (a common issue with DIY Home Automation I feel). That's fine if you have the time to study, Google, ask the forums and face the deep learning curve, but for those of us that want a solid, straightforward HA hub, I don't currently think this is the solution, although if there were major reforms regarding the UI I would reconsider.Stuart R

I’ve fought with this product from the moment I bought it. Didn’t need until I made the mistake of buying a certain smart lock. Now almost 2 years later it never works and my lock is nothing more than a fancy $200+ stupid no key lock. Want my money back for both… Also this won’t connect with barely anything else and when it does it’s constantly disconnecting or going offline. i have about 15 smartthings devices, and 1 month after my warranty expired, the hub would not connect or reset. contacted samsung and they said i would have to purchase a new hub. well, guess what, you can't… seems as samsung has stopped supporting or making this product line. seems a bit too much of a coincidence that my hub died without being touched…. ive noticed other people are having the same issue as i am right now. i strongly believe samsung is sending out signals to kill off these devices in order to make people abandon this line of products but not be fully aware all the other devices they paid good money for, still work – but that doesn't matter- without a hub, no other way to connect the other devices.Shaun
Quit after 8 days past warranty i purchased a smartthings hub along with several smartthings devices. when my hub quit working just outside the warranty i called customer service for assistance, after trying to get my hub back online it was determined that the hub is defective. samsung would not stand behind the product past the one year warranty. this is generally acceptable for me but it is barely a week past my purchase date. further, they could not tell me what brand hubs work with samsung devices. i am very disappointed that i could not get much more than a year out of a samsung product. i would not recommend smartthings. i have several hundred dollars worth of smartthings devices that are worthless because i am told other hubs will not connect to them. lesson learned, samsung does not care about customer satisfaction.Timothy

Setting: Office Goal: Smart speaker to make work phone calls and have my calendar readily available Phone: iPhone 13 Pro CALLS: This did not meet my expectations to be used as a smart speaker nor as a bluetooth speaker to make work phone calls. Using it as a bluetooth speaker was unreliable. Using it as a smart speaker by asking it to call certain people requires the use of Google Duo. I got it to work to the point where the call recipients would see my name (instead of a random Google number); however, Google Duo (as of Feb 2022) has a significant voice volume limitation – I could barely hear the person on the other end of the call. CALENDAR: A work calendar-only setting is susprisingly NOT available. The hope was that I could have a calendar-only view at all times and maybe go to a photo viewer as a screen saver if necessary but that was not possible. This device wants to be all of the things, all of the time- home hub, calendar, weather, news, YouTube, etc. Attempting to get it to do one thing only (e.g. Calendar) is almost impossible. Functionally, this is very much a home hub situation…as in, it's much better as a passive piece of equipment in the kitchen or living room to do smart home tasks, watch some videos, get Google Assistant to run tasks or searches. 4/5 STARS: Previously, I've used Siri, Alexa, & Google Assistant and I believe Google has the best smart hub assistant. However, all phone calls go over Wi-Fi by using the phone's contacts and essentially creating a virtual phone with your. name on it (have to manually add that feature to show your name on the recipient's phone). Google does this through Duo the same way Amazon Echo devices use Alexa. Google Duo is also, respectfully, absolute garbage… it could be so much better, but it isn't! Note that I am using an iPhone so there may be so incompatibilities there. I’ve been developing a smart home for about 4 years now and when Amazon Echo devices started showing forced advertising I wanted to migrate over to the Google Nest Hub but when I started setting it up I discovered this device is even more intrusive with personal information than Amazon. Once more there is no way to download any apps to use with their Hub. It comes with a few abbreviated versions including a barely functional YouTube app. I was shocked since this is a google device and YouTube is owned by them. You can’t sign onto your YouTube on this device and can only cast your content from another device like your phone or tablet to the Hub. Google really missed the mark with this one. As far as Eufy security cameras go they aren’t all supported so seeing video from my front or back door or doesn’t happen. I thought well I can use it as an expensive photo display but it demands access to all of your phone’s contents so I opted out realizing this is simply an invasion of privacy by Google. What works well: It's neat you can do video calls and such with Duo, and it can bring up web pages when you ask. Multi-room audio is great when supported. Sound output is decent for its size. Ambient display is neat. What needs improvement: A year and a half after buying it's still functional, albeit slow The UI update they released makes the interface stutter. Assistant can sometimes not respond at all or be delayed in answering. I've compared the performance to my Echo Show, and while it beats it out on general queries no, though that wasn't the case prior, so good to see progress there. By far the most annoying thing is that you cannot separate audio volume from voice and media, so if you're watching a show or movie then ask it a question you're going to get a very loud Assistant voice. For home control the interface is better than the Echo Show, though a bit delayed sometimes. There is no "short response" option so telling it to turn off lights will not result in a short response. One more feature this thing could benefit from is volume normalization considering the large speaker on it. Lastly, there is no news feed option in case you want to see what kind of bad stuff is going on in the world. Maybe that's by design.Jafar

S associe avec Google… Mais Google ne voit pas les prises (serveur usa). Le produit d ailleurs ne voit pas les prises usa si serveur Europe, ni détecteur fumée Xiaomi.. et le fonctions remote contrôle marchent moyennement (je peux juste gérer le son et allumer/éteindre une Philips, ni contrôle pas la mi box 4, .. Bref déçu plus par aqara. Passé de mi home a aqara… Et là je vois plus en icône si porte ouverte ou fermée, moins de périphériques contrôlés, pas de lumière… A la base c était pour ajouter le lien avec Google home qu avait pas le hub Xiaomi… Et la bah Google peut éteindre / allumer la télé… Mais je ne peux même pas contrôler les prises. Setting: Office Goal: Smart speaker to make work phone calls and have my calendar readily available Phone: iPhone 13 Pro CALLS: This did not meet my expectations to be used as a smart speaker nor as a bluetooth speaker to make work phone calls. Using it as a bluetooth speaker was unreliable. Using it as a smart speaker by asking it to call certain people requires the use of Google Duo. I got it to work to the point where the call recipients would see my name (instead of a random Google number); however, Google Duo (as of Feb 2022) has a significant voice volume limitation – I could barely hear the person on the other end of the call. CALENDAR: A work calendar-only setting is susprisingly NOT available. The hope was that I could have a calendar-only view at all times and maybe go to a photo viewer as a screen saver if necessary but that was not possible. This device wants to be all of the things, all of the time- home hub, calendar, weather, news, YouTube, etc. Attempting to get it to do one thing only (e.g. Calendar) is almost impossible. Functionally, this is very much a home hub situation…as in, it's much better as a passive piece of equipment in the kitchen or living room to do smart home tasks, watch some videos, get Google Assistant to run tasks or searches. 4/5 STARS: Previously, I've used Siri, Alexa, & Google Assistant and I believe Google has the best smart hub assistant. However, all phone calls go over Wi-Fi by using the phone's contacts and essentially creating a virtual phone with your. name on it (have to manually add that feature to show your name on the recipient's phone). Google does this through Duo the same way Amazon Echo devices use Alexa. Google Duo is also, respectfully, absolute garbage… it could be so much better, but it isn't! Note that I am using an iPhone so there may be so incompatibilities there. The HomePod actually controls your iPhone directly, which is much more convenient but reliability of consistent performance just wasn't there with the HomePod (original & mini) either. I’ve been developing a smart home for about 4 years now and when Amazon Echo devices started showing forced advertising I wanted to migrate over to the Google Nest Hub but when I started setting it up I discovered this device is even more intrusive with personal information than Amazon. Once more there is no way to download any apps to use with their Hub. It comes with a few abbreviated versions including a barely functional YouTube app. I was shocked since this is a google device and YouTube is owned by them. You can’t sign onto your YouTube on this device and can only cast your content from another device like your phone or tablet to the Hub. Google really missed the mark with this one. As far as Eufy security cameras go they aren’t all supported so seeing video from my front or back door or doesn’t happen. I bought this to replace my previous "Home" device. It had been playing up and was out of warranty. This was on offer and why I purchased. Overall it's a good device. Small screen but you see what you pay for before you pay for it in most cases; they're not trying to hide anything. The resolution is pretty decent, and it does allow you to watch things on Youtube from your account (I've not tried it across non Google services). The speaker will pick up the words as you're asking them and they appear on the screen so you can see if it's misunderstood why/what it mis heard. It does seem to have an improved microphone though as the Home device I had which was first gen would regularly not understand what I'd said even if it was the same instruction (eg; what's the weather/play whatever radio station or so on). It apparently can make calls, but I've not tested this. It's a small screen if you do, but far larger than a phone! The screen itself you can flick from left to right to see other things. On the screen, I actually really appreciate the adaptive brightness it has which seems to work in reverse of a phone. On the Nest it actually gets dimmer with it's surroundings; so if you turn out the lights it dims right down which would make it suitable for a bedroom, though it never completely goes off so will always show the time. I've no idea if this can be changed or not as I've not seen any need to try. Will play Spotify and also Apple Music! It does require you to use the app to change which service you want to set your preference to though. I have still been able to play things from Spotify even though I've already set mine to play from Apple Music. As long as you say where to play from, it seems to work.bigblackcat
Pros: Screen looks nice. Voice control works with smart lights. Cons: Touch screen is terribly unresponsive by today's standards. Very unintuitive to set up properly so I gave up.As an example of its logic, at one point it only lets you get to a setting by using voice control but then only lets you choose the following option using touch control. As it's also sluggish in operation you can easily hit the wrong touch button and then there's no option to go back. So you have to start again with a completely illogical sequence.Hence the following examples of things I don't like, may be due to not having been set up properly.Anyway, it only reads my main Google calendar not my sub or associated calenders, which makes it useless to check my agenda.I can't set up the screen to show exactly what I want e.g. agenda on one half, notifications on the other.I can't show photos from my local server only those that are stored on Google Photos. I can only show a single Google Photo album album as a screen saver not all my Google photos.The voice commands are not intuitive so you'll have to memorize any you want to use. In other words it will only be useful if you intend to use the voice commands frequently enough to remember them.The automated routines (morning, evening, etc) are another example of big tech companies thinking they know what we want to do better than we know.Mine nearly went into the bin after several hours of trying to get it to do anything useful. I regret buying my Nest Hub Smart Display. When I tell it to turn on a light or smart plug, it'll often take 4-5 seconds–long enough for me to think it didn't register. Which it also frequently fails at. So I'm either having to repeat myself or giving the command again right as it starts while standing in the dark like a fool. These are various smart home devices that worked nearly instantaneously with competitor smart speakers. The microphone sensitivity seems way worse than the competitor I've had or even the Google Nest Mini. If you go to the main dashboard of the device, it includes advertisements for games. I've found no way to customize the dashboard to include only what I want. Some people don't mind, but I'm a personality type that likes to organize things in a way that makes sense to my mind. Or at least, not have a sizable chunk of a small screen occupied by ads for something I will never ever want. On a device I thought I owned. A digital personal assistant that nags or tries to upsell me isn't my idea of a utopian future. Which is why I got rid of competitor speakers after too many unrelated advertisements that I don't want to hear when setting a timer or asking the weather. The Google assistant is better, but just the other day I asked it to turn on a certain smart plug. It misunderstood and went on to launching a long advertisement about smart thermostats available from Google. It was even so helpful to send a link to purchasing it from Google to my phone. I asked for none of that! Have had the device sometimes freeze. One time I had to factory reset it to get it to work again properly. I wish I would not have made this purchase and won't be purchasing any other Google smart home devices.Ben

I purchased the hub to aid compatibility with Z-Wave and Zigbee devices. Working well so far. I've connected door/window sensors and hooked up with the KOnnected Alarm panel. It works smoothly with no issues. I connected the supplied ethernet cable to our WIFI router but works equally well without. The build quality is excellent and the set-up was fast and easy. The device is small and easy to use. I am using a 3 hub and some sensors. Unfortunately, as it happens in life – maybe it is a matter of poor internet or router configuration, maybe a worse day – despite doing everything according to the instructions, the hub does not finish the configuration, you have to reset the hub many times for the installation of the hub to run correctly. The biggest problem is changing the internet settings – it is necessary to reconfigure the entire device and sensors connected to the device one more time. Overall rating 8/10.
