I got this for my two year old who I am told is pretty tall but I don't think he's extremely tall in any way. I think it is a great starter bike for him, he has a little bit of trouble pedaling but that's because he's two and hasn't gotten the motions down yet. He is plenty tall enough to pedal so once he gets the motion down I think he'll have it fine. Right now he just pushes with one foot and then pushes with the other foot and the pedals go back and forth so he doesn't go anywhere but he fully enjoys having his own bike that is just like his big brothers. I thought about getting him one of those bikes without pedals but I think he would not have been happy because it wouldn't have been like his brothers bike. So I'm glad that in the end I selected this bike he will be able to grow into it quite well and I am confident even if it is left outside it will be able to last him quite a number of years before we have to upgrade to a bigger bike. I will say I had a little trouble with the assembly process as the instructions are for three different bikes all jumbled together but it wasn't that hard once I sort it out which directions went for the bike I had. But once it was constructed it looked very sturdy and I'm not concerned about letting my two-year-old play with it. He can't wait to go for longer rides on it and I can't wait to see him figure out the pedaling mechanism.Susie190

Who ever assembled this bike at the store needs to do a better job. First bike had the tire tubes in wrong which cause the air valve to not be straight which cause holes in the tubes. Returned for a second bike. sam issue with the second bike with the tires also, but also hand brakes where not adjusted properly. Also rear tire axel came loose after two days. Brake pads needed adjusted and no wire caps on the ends of the hand brakes which cause the wires to unwind. Second time I took it to the local Bike shop and had the issues fixed. Costed me $25!Chad
Bought this bike for my son as new year's gift. Most of the components in the package are already assembled. I only need to do some very simple assemble. Did not bother to go to Walmart to have the staff there to do the work. The bike is simple and durable. I only recommend three simple thing which can help to improve the product. 1. Please include some simple wrenches in the package, so people can assemble them better. I only have an old flex wrench. It scratched out some black plaint on the small screw / bolt! 2. I purchased this bike online for my son. When it was delivered the shipping box had an excessive amount of tape wrapped around it – looked like someone took packing tape and walked around the box. Then when I opened the shipping box there was another box with the bike in. This box was torn and dented. But I ordered the bike, not the box so I continued opening it and the bike had quite a few scratches and chips. Why my review is two stars is because of the missing parts. For example the hardware to adjust the seat was nowhere to be found. Then the front brake caliber and pads were completely wrong. My son and I have been looking for a new bike for him for sometime. He's wanting to get into BMX riding, but since I don't feel comfortable spending a ridiculous amount of money on a bike that he's starting off with we decided to look at more affordable brands. Gorgeous bike but lacks durability. I bought this for my 12 year old son who is 4”4. He rode it 2 days before the rear tire went flat. Then the next day the front tire went flat. My kids rode the same road and only his wheels went flat. Replaced the tubes 3 times each and they still keep going flat within a minute. You'll need the allen wrench that's a bit thicker than the typical Ikea allen wrenches (5 or 6 mm) – the other tools are pretty common. The trickiest part of assembly is to remove one of the brake shoes so you can pop in the front wheel (don't loosen the front brake line). Once that's done, put the brake shoe back on and spin the front wheel before securing it in (adjust it so that it doesn't rub the break pads that much). One thing that was not in the instructions is that the hand brake levers were pointed down instead of forward at least for me (which makes it hard to reach the levers) – I wasn't able to loosen the bolts that tighten the handlebar to adjust it – if that's the case, you'll need to loosen one of the screws near the brake lever (with the allen wrench) to adjust it – on the left handle, you can just pull the lever up. on right handle, the gear selector is in the way so you have to turn the lever all the way around.ambrose
This bike out of the box although looks nice has severe issues with the chain falling off. This is really a design flaw I believe with the derailleur. I've went through the instructions six times trying to address the derailleur in rear wheel to no avail, chain keeps falling off when switching gears or pedaling backwards comes off on the front sprocket! This bike is great for my growing 7 year old son. Our main problem is 1st gear – it constantly jumps the chain when in 1st (largest and last gear) and is trying to shift between 1st and 2nd. I believe this is due to the geometry of the bike and not the shift cables or derailleur. The chain looks bound and too strained when in 1st gear so its natural tendency is to move back to 2nd. The derailleur and the shifting cable are fine but they can't reduce the distance between the front and rear gears. We purchased on 3/6/21 and already can't return it to Walmart.wvcamrydude

We had originally gotten the Belsize 16 inch belt drive bike for my 4 year old. We loved it so much that we decided to get the 20 inch version as well, for my 8 year old! Assembly was so easy my 13 year old was able to do it by himself. I had never heard of belt drive bikes before getting these bikes, and I wish I had known about them sooner! This bike rides so smooth and I love not having to worry about chain maintenance on bikes that my littles ones are using.I also really love the fact that it’s so lightweight, which is perfect for the little ones. The high-quality Tektro Mini-V brakes fit little hands and offer adjustable reach. The threadless stem and handlebar combination put my son in a very aggressive position though, great for offroading, but the tires aren’t designed for that. To help my son sits more upright, I had to install the riser/extender, and will probably need to replace the front brake line soon to use the highest position. The seat is size appropriate and comfortable. Belt is made in Germany by an automotive manufacturer Continental and should last for years with little to no maintenance required. It’s lightweight, quiet, and presents no risk of pinching or staining kid’s clothing or legs with chain grease. Low profile bolts are safer than exposed bolts because they don’t present a risk of scraping my son. The only negative I can think of is that the kickstand isn’t included.
