Best Blonde Hair For Olive Skin (2024 Update)

My experience here was a bit different than all other previous reviews, so take it as it is. I have very thin curly brown hair and this gave me a nice dark blonde colour. It looks very beautiful in terms of colour, has good coverage and is easy to mix and apply (although you need your own bowl and mixing tool). My hair is long but one box was enough and unlike all other dyes, it didn't bleed to the towel or pillow at all and didn't stain my skin. Now the cons: it has a VERY strong smell when applying! Not sure how everyone is saying it smells good… the smell goes away the next day, but do not apply in a closed space. Also, and this made me fear for my life: my hair got extremely dry right after washing the dye off… it felt like I was touching hay and not hair. I was shocked!! Even after the conditioner from the box, my own conditioner, it felt like it was ruined… only after a week or so of putting leave in conditioner everyday and not using shampoo it got back to normal, so beware you may need to do some extra conditioner care afterwards (this never happened to me before with any other dye). I don't know if I would buy this brand again due to the dryness shock, but I do love the colour result…iHerb Customer

I buying this for my mom. she has 100 % of grey hair. and previously she tried many brands, and no any of them could stay and last more than a 2 weeks. She tried Herbatint and she got amazed. It covered all 100% of her grey hair and still lasting and it us already 2nd month now. Only the new growing hair is grey, So she just need to color the roots. But the rest hair is remaining the color. This Brand is the best. And absolutely chemical free. Because even it drop on clothes after washing it easily gone. I mixed this color (5D light golden chestnut) with 7D (golden blond). The ratio is one unit of developer to one unit of color. So I used a half unit of each color to equal one color unit and blended that with one unit of the developer. The remaining color that I didn't use from each bottle will be used next time, so I get two uses out of each box. I chose to blend those two colors to try to get close to my natural shade, which is a light brown with some golden strands and some hints of red. I did a bunch of research before I bought these colors. I learned that the same shades act differently on all different people and just accepted that I wouldn't be able to predict the exact outcome. If you want to be more sure of the actual result, you can save your hair from the shower for a week and then use that as a test to see how the color takes to your hair. Who knew there'd be a use for that annoying shower hair! My results were quite dark the day that I dyed it — it was a rich chocolate tone. It lightened up after a few washes. It's now been more than a week since I colored it and it looks great. I have about 20% gray and it covered them well. I like that the formula doesn't have a harsh chemical scent. Please note that the packages don't include a bowl to mix the solution in or an applicator for putting the mixture in your hair' plan accordingly so you have the materials on hand. Well, Excellence does a better job… Preference faded and washed out from my gray roots. I had to do a double take to make sure I used permanent dye. Well it was! I have partial gray areas I use the dye to cover. I don’t recall having this issue w/ Excellence. If you have gray you’re looking to cover, go with Excellence. More user friendly also since it’s cream based not liquid as well.Target Shopper

I was looking to color my hair auburn which is exactly what this product did. I had medium brown virgin hair with a few grey's. I would suggest to apply the product to the middle and ends of your hair for 15 minutes and only apply to roots for maybe seven minutes. I did get some hot roots in a small patch near the front of my hairline. I will be googling and youtubing how to correct that spot. I would definitely not keep it on my roots for the full 10 minutes the box suggests. There is not alot of multidimension color but there is definitely color change from my medium brown. I think that the product doesn't need to be as strong as it is. I don't know a ton about color, but this company should maybe use a less harsh developer? They are trying to appeal to a large audience, but they are just messing up alot of people haircoloring experience. I read alot of the reviews beforehand so I knew that my hair would go auburn. If someone just picks the box and thinks their hair is gonna have Carmel highlights they are in for a unpleasant surprise.Sarah

I thought the product was magnificent. The one application was enough to cover my entire head from root to end and when my hair is wet it lands on my shoulders and I have naturally curly hair. I have tons of white hair or with some would call grey very heavy in the front. I have been ill and having colored my hair in 6 months. My hair is naturally black but at 55 I want it to go lighter without anything pulling red. The results are absolutely stunning. Again more than enough color cover all my hair from root to end professional disposable gloves that are easy to take on and off, and a great tube of conditioner that can last me for about three applications. My hair is so soft and shiny and the color Blended beautiful with my already black hair considering I had about 4 in of regrowth and another 6 in of black hair it Blended in beautifully.Yvette

I had my hair bleached at a salon, after few months the contrast of the natural dark brown roots and the blond hair looked unpleasant to me. I made a very bad decision to color everything medium brown, and I thought how hard it could be. I don’t need to go to the salon. I got this box, and applied it according to the instruction, oh the smell of chemicals!!! I left it on the toots for 20min and on the blond hair for 5 minutes, guess what? My hair, dark brown root and the remaining blond part turned completely black, like really REALLY black. What is this garbage?Peggy

My natural hair is dark brown to black (1b-ish) (pictured) and I used the Auburn R6. I wanted a noticeable but not too dramatic red and got the perfect ginger. Some parts of my hair towards the end are darker but honestly I like the depth it gives. On sunnier days my hair looks more firey and changes to even a warm auburn/brown in lower lighting. I really like the color and think it compliments my skin tone. Instead of 25 mins I kept it for 45 just to make sure it took color 🙂 Definitely keeping this as my everyday shade for a long time, also I dyed it Feb 7th (the photos are from March 3rd 5th) and haven’t retouched yet if that info helps !TARAHMISU

My hair was a highly dull off-black with an auburn brown tint from sun exposure. The ends (about 3inches) of my hair was a dark blond from permanent hair dye about 2yrs ago that was still growing out. My hair length is a few inches past my collar bone so I suppose it's medium length. I have high density hair (lots of hair strands) and my hair strands are thick. I would always have to buy 2 boxes of hair dye for my hair because it is so dense. However, I only needed one box of this hair dye and I even had about 1/4 of it left over. The box contains a set of instructions (which are very clear by the way), a sample of their shampoo and conditioner, gloves (which didn't break or tear), hair dye, developer, and an applicator bottle. I personally prefer using a mixing bowl and applicator brush. Next time, I will use those items instead. I parted my hair into six sections and worked one section at a time and started on the roots first throughout my head, then proceeded to the length of my hair. It states to let the dye sit for 20min but considering that my hair is a bit color resistant, I let it sit for about 40 instead. Normally, I wouldn't extend it for this amount of time, but considering this product was natural, I took a chance. I wouldn't recommend you do this but use your personal experience and judgement. The instructions strongly recommend that you do an allergy test (place the hair dye on inner elbow) and watch it over the next 48hrs to see if you will have an allergic reaction before using the hair dye. However, I did not do this. I do have sensitive skin but never had an allergic reaction to any hair dye so I based my decision partly off that. I didn't like the shampoo nor the conditioner that came with it. The shampoo made my hair tangle and it felt like it was stripping my hair. The conditioner wasn't effective in making my hair feel conditioned. The actual hair dye made my hair feel soft becaused it is packed with oils. I still would use the shampoo and conditioner since they are meant to work together after the hair dye process. The hair dye was a COMPLETE SUCCESS! It completely covered my blond ends and the entirety of my head. My hair is now black. I must state that this Poppyseed color (2N) is a NATURAL black so it is NOT jet black. I actually wanted jet black hair but the Vitamin Shoppe that I shopped at didn't have it so I got this instead. Next time, I will definitely be getting the jet black which is called Licorice (1N) which is the darkest shade. I can't wait to do it again!LovelyBreeze

I've been dying my hair for about 33 years…. other brands always left my hair brittle, dried out and stripped… the color didn't make much sense either, no matter how "natural" I tried to look. I was convinced the only thing to do was stop dying my hair and go "naturally gray". Well after 9 months of not dying my hair… there wasn't a whole lot of "gray" to get excited about…it just looked mousy and non descript…and worst of all..juat made me look older. I didn't think I had anything to lose so I tried NaturColor in Mullein Blonde… so close to my childhood hair color. I was so pleasantly surprized. Awful!!! This product claims to be natural! Not at all! Not only did it completely strip my hair of all its luster, I had a reaction…I am sensitive to hair dye but thought this was more natural. I really liked how this turned out on my hair. My hair is already pretty dark but my roots grow in pretty fast so this was absolutely needed. It does not have a super strong chemical smell, and left my hair feeling soft: I have problems using color that often damages my curl pattern. This did not! This is my hair immediately after wash. For reference my hair is a medium to light brown with an ash undertone and some gray hairs. Midnight blue is really nice with an undertone of a blue tint but no actual blue to your hair. Jet black is very dark, sharp and glossy looking. Natural black still solid coverage but a softer tone to it. Chestnut brown has a golden almost auburn color to it. Red hot rhythms is stunning when first applied but quickly loses color in less than a week making your hair look very much like a box dye job. Golden blond is true golden warm tone but again you need a professional to lighten your hair first in order for the color to take all the way through your hair. I don't know who has their nose broken, but the conditioner smells absolutely fabulous. Reminds of a salon honestly. obviously when you're dying you need to have a fan going but even that's not a bad smell. Bottom line as with any color going darker than your hair tone is always easy and possible. And going lighter impossible without a bleach or toner to lighten it first before depositing color. I really liked this brand, it was new to me and this is how I feel about it. Now that I’ve went through the process of dying my hair and the color has now been in for a full day. First the packaging was very neat and you knew what you were working with. Once opened everything was in the box with easy to read instructions. I was super excited to see the dye bottle was a twist off top. Usually I have to cut the tip of the dye bottle in the boxes dye that I normally use. The dye mixed after a few hard shakes, but once I poured into my hair I could see that it didn’t mix all the way so had to give a bit more hard shakes to get it to fully mix. The liquid itself was runny, I like my hair dye a bit less runny. The smell of it was not too powering, and once on the head and scalp it did burn a bit while I sat to catch my hair. The washout was nice and not messy. A few rinses and it came out clear. The product came with a very nice sized conditioner, that has left my hair super soft. The conditioner had a very nice smell. It reminded me of tropical fruit. My hair still smells like it, and I work all day. All my hair caught the color and came out great. I would recommend trying this brand if you have it within reach. Have been dying my grey roots every 3-4 weeks for about 10 years now and nice n easy in 6N (half a box) had been my drug of choice up to now. Few formula changes later and am ready to try something different. I like that I can easily measure out what I need to use as both are liquid and mixed in a 1:1 ratio. I love that there is no overpowering odour striking as soon as mixing happens although slightly unnerving that this mixes into a plastic-like gel with no other odour?(Not sure how natural it is?) It is odd but you do get used to it, just don’t get lulled into a false sense of security and make sure you take usual precautions to clean up any spillages etc as it does stain quickly as with any other dyes. Colour-wise is about equivalent to nice n easy one and covers grey well but does seem to fade quite quickly so have just started adding a couple of capfuls of 5N to half bottle 6N when applying to roots then rest of 6N for last 5 mins on rest of hair. Bought few boxes in a recent deal so got really good price – making it more on par with other hair dyes.DancingDonnaDee

This is a lovely hair colouring product: easy to use and great colour results. The smell is, not unpleasant, just different. My only criticism would be that using it on my level 7/8 hair, I used 8A, there isnt enough ash in it to counteract the orange undertone that kicks up when you lighten in that mid blonde range, so it looks a bit warmer than I would have liked. Toning shampoo (blue) helps. It will probably get cooler on my second use when I retouch my roots. It looked lovely on the lighter parts of my hair though so my advice would be to use it if your hair is lighter than a level 8, but be prepared for your colour to be warmer than ash if its darker. The hair mask thats included has a, again not unpleasant, smell to it thats different, but gives lovely, shiny results. I will be using this colour product again and would recommend it.aunty_deedee

This hair colour does a great job of covering my VERY stubborn greys. And keeping them covered for a good 6 weeks. I tried a couple of others during the pandemic and once I tried this, I never went back. When salons opened, the stylist was actually pretty impressed by how healthy my hair and how “soft” the colour looked. Definitely use the quinoa mask that comes with it. And don’t scrimp on the conditioner and/or leave in conditioner and your hair will look fab!TORONTOMOM

I had dark violet hair for about a year and it has proven difficult to remove the leftover red color from my hair. All I wanted was to get close to my natural light brown hair color. I went to a high end salon and paid $140 for her to butcher my color. She dyed it a brown color and added some balayage highlights. I had high hopes for the end result and was sadly disappointed. There was just as much red as before. but she also somehow made my roots several different colors, one being very orange and brassy. It was very unflattering. So, I decided to get some color oops, a deep conditioning treatment and this Wella Color Charm in medium ash brown. I used the Color Charm 20 volume developer. After all was said and done, my hair has zero red tones and it is very close to my natural dirty brown color. I was presently surprised that my roots are not all kinds of different shades because the color oops still left them funky. All in all, I would definitely recommend this if you have a sudden fear of professional stylists.amy.l

Went from a level 7 permanent red to a level 7 blonde with T35. A good round of bleach took off quiet a bit of the red but I still had really dark orange. T35 blended everything so well and made the burnt orange color a nice strawberry blonde and helped out all the other yellow and white I had going on after the bleach to make it all a really nice blonde. I didn’t have any experience with bleach or toner. Or even doing my own hair. I’ve never even been blonde before either so, thank god for strong hair.Samantha Hendricks

I love love love wella color charm! I’ve been using it since I was a kid… well 13 or so haha, I'm 29 now! and I’ve gone and used other brands, Ion (JUST DONT!) and such and I always go back to color charm… it leaves my hair nice and soft and healthy and the color holds well, for a good long time, and it always comes out a beautiful color just like the swatch, it’s never really a surprise what you end up with. Which is refreshing with hair color, you want what you intend. My mom also uses wella and has for decades! Their toners (for like blonde hair) work VERY well too. I was blonde for quite a few years in my mid 20's and after bleaching my hair, I would of course always use a toner, I'm a natural red head -before I started going gray that is, which is why I color now- so not using one isn't an option. I always used wella, except for ONCE cause something else was on sale, and it didn't work nearly as well, I actually went back out that night and bought the wella toner I usually use and the next day re-toned my hair. Worked like a charm (pun INTENDED) and I never tried a different brand again. The only other brand I prefer (and it's only for what some would call "extreme colors") is arctic fox and that's only if I'm gonna do like blue or purple. But the wella for other more "natural spectrum" colors works just as well. I'd say wella and arctic fox are even with each other quality and hair health wise. I will say when using wella color, I prefer to use the "original" liquid color rather than the gel kind, but that's because I have a LOT of hair, and the liquid one seems to go farther, and I still have to use 2 bottles, but I have to use 2 no matter what brand I buy. I also use creme developer however and I know that thickens things up, so..the liquid just does better for me. I have some friends who prefer the gel however. It's all about personal preference. I'd say give them each a try and decide how you like them yourself. They seem to make every color in their catalog in both the gel and the original liquid. (Pardon my odd face in my review photo. I didn't approve or ask for this shade! I got starry black. I'm a natural blonde. In order for me to achieve black hair that doesn't turn green after the 1st wash,I would have to do a filler color first like a medium brown. I don't want to put all those chemicals on my hair. Plus I don't want black hair! I DID NOT USE THIS! I have used feria in the past though, I have used their bleaching kit and their auburn, red and black cherry shades. It is the only box dye I will use. It not only has an essential oil you add to it for a better smell but it also helps the hair feel softer and more hydrated as well as look shiny and healthy, well as healthy as dyed hair can look. For a box dye it's not bad. If I had gotten a color I approved of I totally would have used it! My daughter has medium golden brown hair and has been debating allowing me to use this on her. I don't know if I got a defective kit, but this product did pretty much nothing on my hair. I got it with the understanding that the result would be slightly redder than the swatches, as I was using this to reduce a brassy faded red color that did not take and lighten my light brown hair to a strawberry blonde. My original shade does, in fact match the light brown swatch on the product. However, after application, there was very little difference in the result and certainly nowhere near the lighter blonde swatch that was shown on the package. The product did not thicken very quickly when mixed (which is unusual for hair color but not unexpected as some color mixes will thicken a lot whereas some will thicken very little) and turned to a gel-like consistency after approximately 10 minutes. The product shows a 1-3 level lift on light brown to blonde hair. This product did not provide even a 1 level lift on my hair, which has always been very easy to color, even with this product line in other shades. Honestly, I could have gotten a better result with a product like 'Sun-in'. So I was very disappointed in this product and would not recommend 8.5A Champagne Blonde to anyone needing a light brown/dark blonde to a lighter blonde result. I received this product and was eager to trial it. There’s nothing quite like a colour touch up to make you feel a little more refreshed and energised! The product was super easy to use and everything needed was contained in one compact box. I followed the directions with ease and all progressed to plan. The end result was reasonably true to the desired colour although my hair did end up more orange than I had anticipated. I accept this can happen with hair colours because there are so many factors that contribute to the end result. The hair colour did address my primary concern – covering the dreaded greys! The smell was not offensive as can happen with some brands and I liked the fuss free application process. A major benefit is the convenience of doing this at home at a time that suits me and a cost that is budget friendly! I have had my colour now for a week and the colour at this stage is still looking fresh with great coverage. I would suggest that anyone with thick hair or very long hair should invest in two packets and not chance a dye disaster!! I have long hair but it is very thin so one packet for me was sufficient. I received this hair dye to trial as part of the Beauty Review Crew. I have used this brand of hair dye a few times over the past couple years. In particular, I have used the shade 'Darkest brown' which is the same shade I'm trialing today. The shade has always been is a lovely vibrant colour and the colour result is similar to my natural hair colour. The dye promises to 100% grey hair coverage and it lives up to its promise. Preparing the dye for application is nice and easy. After applying the gloves that are included in the packaging, you pour the colour formula into the bottle of developer before placing the lid back on and shaking the bottle until completely mixed. It's that easy! Then starting at the roots, you evenly apply the dye. The dye goes on smoothly and, surprisingly, the dye scent isn't as strong as other brands. Other brands tend to have a strong chemical smell which makes my eyes water and nose tingle when breathing it in. Clairol have done a great job at producing a hair product with a low scent. One of the best things about Clairol's nice n' easy hair dyes is the short processing times. Unlike other brands that have a processing time of upwards to an hour to reach your desired shade, these dye have an average processing time of just 25 minutes. The short processing time means you can dye your hair during your lunch break, before a night out, or before a date, without it taking up too much of your time. The rinsing process is also quite a smooth and easy process. After applying some warm water, give your hear/head a little massage and then rinse until the water runs clear from all the dye. It normally takes around two minutes for the water to run clear. Then using the conditioning Clairol conditioning treatment that comes with the hair dye, you apply from roots to tips and leave for a couple minutes before rinsing. The conditioning treatment has a lovely scent and is nice and thick. It's almost like applying a luxurious hair mask. It glides onto the hair smoothly and evenly. After rinsing the conditioning treatment you can instantly feel how hydrated you hair feels. Dying your hair often dehydrates it and your hair can feel a little worse for wear. Clairol's hair dyes are gentle on your hair and the conditioning treatment prevents damage and keeps your hair hydrated and feeling lovely. After towel-drying my hair, I blow-dried my hair until was dry. Looking in the mirror you could instantly see how vibrant and lovely the hair colour result was, and it looked and felt really healthy. I am always so very impressed with the results every time and I often get compliments from friends and family members. As my hair grows fairly quickly, I use this product every 2-3 months to help cover grey hairs. Despite dying my hair so regularly, my hair has remained healthy and manageable, and hasn't compromised my hair in any way. The only downside I can mention is that the dye stains your skin. Normally hair spray or acetone on a cotton ball or cotton pad helps remove hair dyes from skin but I found this dye to be lot stronger and barely budged from the skin. I also tried scrubbing with soap and dishwashing detergent but the dye only faded slightly. It took a few days of scubbing before the dye faded completely. The best thing of all about Clairol's Nice n' Easy hair dyes are they cost just $9 from your local supermarket. Sometimes, you can grab them on special for just $6! SIX BUCKS! Staff Review by BC's Tamara I'm not going to lie – I have greys. Lots of them. But the Clairol Nice'n Easy Permanent Hair Dye did a mighty fine job of making them disappear! I have actually used this dye in the past, and can't recommend it enough. The range of colours on offer is wonderful as there is something there for everyone. I have dull brown hair, so usually opt for a warm shade to brighten my colour – I used the Medium Chestnut Brown 5RB. The instructions are clear and easy to follow and after spending 10 mins applying the product as thoroughly as I could, it took a simple 25 minutes to penetrate before washing it out and conditioning. The colour completely covered my greys (which was my main objective), but overall my hair looks so much healthier as it is shiny and the colour has more life to it. My favourite thing about this dye is that the colour brings out the natural highlights I have and it looks really natural. Easy to use. Very very natural color. I have to use an old towel for a few days due to color coming out, but that's not unusual. I have been using Herbatint for about 10 years, did try different colors combinations: red, brown, blond.—never disappointed with the condition of my hair after coloring. Then i decided to try the Naturigin brand. First i google it—brand from Denmark. I sought why not. Color—light Ash blond is as pictured—true Light Ash blond, but my hair felt so dry—like a hay. I tried differend moisturizer, but damage has been done. I have fine hair and i believe whatever was in this color was too strong for my hair type—it burned and got a lot of breakage. it’s never happened to me after using the Herbatint. I do not think I will try this brand again. Not for my hair.loveCalifornia

I like this product. So far no adverse reaction to my scalp or skin. However, I wish the box would contain the hair conditioner from the same company. I seem to look for some other conditioner after coloring my hair. ThanksOneida

Pictures with blue shirt are before. Others are after under the same lighting 1 hour apart. First off, I want to say I chose this product over other hair dyes because it is a vegan formula and cruelty free approved which means (hopefully) animals were not used or harmed for these ingredients. I purchased two boxes since my hair is medium to long length, and I was surprised that one box was enough to saturate my entire hair with product left over. The product is rather runny so it stretches a LOT which i found to be great but messy. It smells great and not like traditional hair dyes which is a huge bonus for me. The only time I noticed a weird odor was when using the After Color Conditioner, but it’s not too bad. This is the SOFTEST I have ever felt my hair after using a box dye. It is shocking how smooth and healthy it feels after this. I will say- the conditioner does leave your hair pretty greasy after washing and drying, but I plan to leave it like this all day so the color truly sticks and then use my regular color-safe shampoos before bed so I don’t stain my pillows. The color: Truly, I don’t believe the color advertised on the box is accurately represented. The picture shows a cool black with undertones of purple. For me, already having dark brown hair with red undertones, the result was a warm black with brown undertones so much so that it actually looks very natural as if I was born with black hair. I would consider this like a “soft black” dye. Though I’m not sure what they mean by “platinum black” it is definitely not leaning towards a Jet black. All in all: I am VERY satisfied with this product- being that it’s only the first day I don’t know how it will do overtime with fading, but the price point is perfect as I tend to stay away from box dyes that are under $7 due to quality. I also feel like it just did a beautiful job coloring the hair and leaving it shiny and healthy. Although the color May not have been extremely accurate, I am definitely going to stick with this brands Olía line and move more towards a deeper cool “Jet black” knowing that this one just looks like a regular normal black- which is perfect for someone wanting a natural simple tint!Laso5959

I’m 33 and I have a ton of gray around the crown of my head. I went from having a salad balayage, to dyeing my hair very dark brown because I couldn’t afford a trip to the salon. I tried my best to keep my balayage highlights intact, but it ended up dyeing over all of them. Every ‘medium’ brown I touch, turns my hair practically black. So I let the last color fade out over a few months, and decided to try this color. When I first washed it out I was a little nervous I had ‘hot roots’, because they looked very red. My hair likes to go red with any dye period, but they looked kind of orange, so I was a little scared. Once I finished drying my hair, I was pretty happy with the results. Not only did it lighten my hair significantly, but it brought back the balayage highlights that were unfortunately dyed dark. My hair does have kind of a ‘chestnut’ tone to it, but I’m over all satisfied that it lightened my hair, covered my grays, and didn’t go so dark that I lost color dimension.Alex k

Olia hair color in Dark Rose Quartz left my hair feeling silky smooth and soft! I love that it doesn't have the harshness of ammonia, which makes it smell a lot better than most hair dyes out there. I was happy with the way the color came out, but I would consider it more of a tint than a traditional dye, which is why I took a star off (I have medium brown hair with blonde balayage). If I was hoping for the color on the box, I don't know that I would have been as happy. Dark Rose Quartz is a fun and subtle shade for someone who wants to shake up their hair color without getting too crazy! I received a free product in exchange for my honest review. Dear L'Oreal, I've been using L'Oreal Excellence hair color 7R Red Penny for many years. Everywhere I go I am complimented on my amazing hair color – the beautiful color, the shine and softness. Imagine my disappointment when I found out that my color was discontinued! I, too, have tried 6R and the color was bland in comparison. I have now been forced to try other brands to try to duplicate the look of 7R, but to no avail. Please, please, please bring Excellence Cream 7R Red Penny back! People (strangers!) have even stopped me in the middle of stores to ask me if my hair color is natural (because it looks so natural) and if not, what product and color I use. I have recommended your product, in particular 7R, to dozens of people! Again, please bring 7R Red Penny back! I used the 5AB color because I wanted to cover my brassy lifted hair and go maybe a shade darker. Make sure you use 10 volume developer not the one they give you if you’re just going darker. If you use the one they give, it will be harsh and lift your hair and you risk having even more red or orange in your hair. I have a really thick head of hair but only ended up using half a bottle since my hair is short. It feels pretty soft and I didn’t lose much hair rinsing it out. We’ll see how it wears! I’m not quite sure what people are doing wrong, but I have used this product for years if not decades to cover up grays. I have black/brown hair with bright white grays and I use the dark brown color. The color lasts for two months . I have no problem with matching- because the color always “reveals” itself at two weeks- which is normal for all box dye in my experience. I love everything about this kit. I purchase extra gloves nitrile, hair dye brushes, cheap butterfly clips and disposable shower caps. I do it on a day where my hair is greasy because I’m about to take a shower (this protects my scalp from the color and my hair from damage). I mix the color and developer together and let it sit while I rub the pretreatment in with my gloved hands. I shake up the color a lot (60 seconds!) and after I see actual color develop I shake it some more and then start applying. I apply to the top of my hair, brushing it in and then I clip that section off. I work in sections, top, sides and back and then let the dye work for 40 minutes from when I finish applying- cover it with a disposable cap so I don’t drip dye everywhere. I use all of the bottle for my shoulder length hair. This is key!!!! You need to let the part of your hair that is seen the most sit for the entire time. I rinse it out with cold water only (gloves!!!) and then add the conditioner (the whole tube) and let it set in my hair for 5 minutes (also in a cap) before rinsing it out with cold water and washing it with color safe shampoo in cold water. I do not apply this with a comb. There is a comb attachment- but I use a brush to spread it on my hair and the comb attachment to spread it on the brush. You want to paint your hair, soaking it with dye. The other trick is that when I shower, I condition first before I shampoo. This keeps the color in more and I get an incredible volume without my hair getting crunchy.tiziny

My wife now prefers this over the major brands. She has been using it for a couple of years unless she runs out and we aren't ordering anything on Vitacost. She loves the color (honey blonde 9N) and so do I. Per the FAQs on their website "Naturtint® does not contain parabens, silicones, paraffin, mineral oils, heavy metals, artificial fragrances, SLS, or formaldehyde derivatives. Naturtint® is not tested on animals. Naturtint® uses ethanolamine as the alkaline medium; it is less aggressive than ammonia and achieves the proper pH in a gentler way." So we feel a little better about what's going down the drain, and what isn't. But the color is what matters most and it's a winner. You can buy cheaper hair color, but why?victorspoils

I've been using Naturtint for awhile now. I have long hair and a lot of hair so I find it necessary to use 2 boxes each time that I want to color my hair all over. Sometimes there's some product leftover but it's necessary to ensure I can saturate all the way to the roots. Actually my friend colors for me because when I've done it myself I have ended up with irregular color in spots. Also, I mix colors. I use 1 9N honey blond plus 1 wheat germ blonde. I put 1/2 of each of the colorant into the bottle so that both bottles are the same. I also add a touch of one of the red hues to get a nice strawberry blonde. I get lots of compliments on my color. As a natural blonde starting to go gray it's hard to keep red color on – so it fades betweens colorings. This product fully covers my grays when applied correctly and left on for the right amount of time. I Recommend having a friend help and be sure to get all the way to the scalp to cover roots and the temples are another spot that are easy to miss – be sure to get all the way to your face at your temples. I didn't do much salon coloring before I started naturtint but this seems gentle on my hair. Happy coloring!MagPie

Most natural shade of light/medium golden blonde ever! A real blonde that stops just short of hinting at strawberry blonde. Abundance of SHINE, highlights and lowlights. Most gentle hair color I''ve ever used (saying allot)! I''m not really hypersensitive to much of anything so can''t speak for anyone who is. But Naturtint caused less than the typical, mild sting/burn sensations during or after application. SO easy, smooth and slippery to work in and rinse out. Included shampoo is good, but Multiplier conditioner is extremely impressive with how slippery and revitalizing it is. And it actually foams up HUGE! Hair shed near to nothing…there''s a 1st! My hair is shoulder-length, baby-fine, average density and graying at roots. Texture changed with age (47) from slick-straight to wavy with fly-away ends/outer layer. To curb damage, I co-wash every other day and only shampoo with Rx7 monthly. Glad to find a NATURAL hair color that performs so GREAT. Just bought 5 more boxes.Lisa

I like the conditioner it comes with in a tube as a thick cream yet it has changed very much! It is less quality and less odor yet still great for cost! The dye is not thick gel it is medium like conditioner for $9.97 worth the value still as it does cover Grey and not a semi- permanent! This permanent hair dye box comes with traditional one box with color; a set of gloves; tiny shine serum; developer; instructions; and the dye! Love this hair color, definitely not dull. You get so many different highlights yet a solid color. It doesn't damage my hair as others have. I've learned to stick with loreal when it comes to home color. I use a blonde color and I have some red in my hair, this brings it down to almost what the box shows. This hair colour does a great job of covering my VERY stubborn greys. And keeping them covered for a good 6 weeks. I tried a couple of others during the pandemic and once I tried this, I never went back. When salons opened, the stylist was actually pretty impressed by how healthy my hair and how “soft” the colour looked. Definitely use the quinoa mask that comes with it. And don’t scrimp on the conditioner and/or leave in conditioner and your hair will look fab!TORONTOMOM

I like thst there is no amonia in this formula and it covers grey hairs nicely. One thing I do find though is that it seems to really dry out my hair and then I can't get a hairbrush through it easily even after using the conditioner included. It takes almost a month for my hair to feel normal afterwards. I have used this brand for at least 10 years and I find they tend to dye your hair darker at first snd then the hair color tends to lighten up after about 4 weeks I find.Emily

This hair colorant is very gentle and no harsh reaction on my scalp nor hair that looks like a scarecrow after using it. The Sandy Blonde, in particular, colors my roots perfectly and grows out beautifully to a high-lighted look that people comment on all the time.
