Dear L'Oreal, I've been using L'Oreal Excellence hair color 7R Red Penny for many years. Everywhere I go I am complimented on my amazing hair color – the beautiful color, the shine and softness. Imagine my disappointment when I found out that my color was discontinued! I, too, have tried 6R and the color was bland in comparison. I have now been forced to try other brands to try to duplicate the look of 7R, but to no avail. Please, please, please bring Excellence Cream 7R Red Penny back! People (strangers!) have even stopped me in the middle of stores to ask me if my hair color is natural (because it looks so natural) and if not, what product and color I use. I have recommended your product, in particular 7R, to dozens of people! Again, please bring 7R Red Penny back! I used the 5AB color because I wanted to cover my brassy lifted hair and go maybe a shade darker. Make sure you use 10 volume developer not the one they give you if you’re just going darker. If you use the one they give, it will be harsh and lift your hair and you risk having even more red or orange in your hair. I have a really thick head of hair but only ended up using half a bottle since my hair is short. It feels pretty soft and I didn’t lose much hair rinsing it out. We’ll see how it wears! I’m not quite sure what people are doing wrong, but I have used this product for years if not decades to cover up grays. I have black/brown hair with bright white grays and I use the dark brown color. The color lasts for two months . I have no problem with matching- because the color always “reveals” itself at two weeks- which is normal for all box dye in my experience. I love everything about this kit. I purchase extra gloves nitrile, hair dye brushes, cheap butterfly clips and disposable shower caps. I do it on a day where my hair is greasy because I’m about to take a shower (this protects my scalp from the color and my hair from damage). I mix the color and developer together and let it sit while I rub the pretreatment in with my gloved hands. I shake up the color a lot (60 seconds!) and after I see actual color develop I shake it some more and then start applying. I apply to the top of my hair, brushing it in and then I clip that section off. I work in sections, top, sides and back and then let the dye work for 40 minutes from when I finish applying- cover it with a disposable cap so I don’t drip dye everywhere. I use all of the bottle for my shoulder length hair. This is key!!!! You need to let the part of your hair that is seen the most sit for the entire time. I rinse it out with cold water only (gloves!!!) and then add the conditioner (the whole tube) and let it set in my hair for 5 minutes (also in a cap) before rinsing it out with cold water and washing it with color safe shampoo in cold water. I do not apply this with a comb. There is a comb attachment- but I use a brush to spread it on my hair and the comb attachment to spread it on the brush. You want to paint your hair, soaking it with dye. The other trick is that when I shower, I condition first before I shampoo. This keeps the color in more and I get an incredible volume without my hair getting crunchy.tiziny

Let me start by saying that I'm not a professional. Have I dyed my hair 10 billion times sure. But just because it didn't work for me doesn't mean it's necessarily the product's problem it could be operator error. So I've been going through the internet trying to find any possible way to get my hair white most of it's white part of it's white okay. The top layers wait and to be honest with you I'm not entirely sure how I got it to white. I was told to use while I t18 with a 20 volume developer which I purchase is Sally's. My One Stop shop for all of my hair dying needs. And I'm not mad at it I'm just not convinced that this is the product for me for the desired outcome that I'm looking for. Aside from that being that it is chemical I'm going to suggest using a hair mask after using other than that damage is minimal. But like I said everybody's different however my hair is taking quite to beat me and although I got it cut it has not fallen out yet.sarah.m

I can see/hear Brad Mondo screaming and cringing at T18 but I'm an ashe blonde and it REALLY does take the brassy tones out of my hair. I also have well water where we live so it does a number on my color so I'm always looking for products that won't destroy my hair or dry it out too much. These , while drying, aren't awful..I use a good hair mask and bonding treatment afterward and the brassiness is gone for a few weeks. Definitely worth a try if you're really an ashe blonde!kate.c

These toners work well but they smell awful! Beware of that. They're also really runny and they go dark really quickly so you'll want to get this product all up in your hair as quickly as possible. The best way I've found to do this is by making a toning shampoo: mix the toner and developer, then add a few capfuls of shampoo (you can add some water too if you want to make it runnier), then hang your head over the sink and lather it in quickly. You'll want to watch your hair to see how fast it is developing. You might only need 5 minutes or you might want 15. Just keep an eye on it! I used a mix if T18, T27, and the cooling violet 050 on freshly bleached level 8-9ish hair and it toned beautifully. I later switched to using the permanent gel with a low developer as I found it easier to apply to roots only and the colour lasts longer. I bought this a couple weeks ago.. done my hair a couple days ago and my hair is PINK. NOT EVEN A DARK RED OR RED. BRIGHT PINK. when i rinsed it out and looked in the mirror I cried. The roots are alot darker but still a pink. Ive used this brand almost every time Ive dyed my hair. This has NEVER happened. Ever. I received this product for free from Influenster. For the product itself it is pretty good. I followed instructions and the color turned out beautiful if a little darker than the box claimed. My natural hair is a very dark brown and it was virgin at the base. My tips were previously bleached, hence the Platinum tips. Over all I'm quite pleased with the color. I was pleasantly surprised that my curl pattern was not greatly damaged either, as I was afraid would happen upon realizing this was bleach. I am allergic to bleach (which hasn't stopped me before) so I was quite itchy for about two days after application but that is to be expected. The reason I took away a star is the brands claim to retain moisture and protect your hair thoroughly. I found that this was no more gentle than any other box bleach I've used. I wouldn't have been disappointed in this but for their claims. My hair was extremely dry for a day afterwards and I had to use a lot of coconut oil to reinstate it's moisture. That said, any other bleach product will do the same, my issue is just that they claim to prevent that. All in all, the color is great, but it is no safer than any other box dye for your hair. Generally like Schwarzkopf, but not this one. The powder makes this messy, not user friendly. And be prepared for a noticeable colour change. I am naturally quite fair and light ginger. This gave me the colouring of an orange tabby cat that fell into bleach. I’m unevenly yellow.TL

I have being dying my hair bright, vibrant red for just over five years now, and Arctic Fox has been part of my color maintenance routine since day one. Vibrant red hair is not easy to maintain and keep from fading quickly, which can very quickly do serious damage to your hair if your only using ammonia-based chemical dyes every time you need to refresh your color. Arctic Fox doesn't damage hair at all. In fact, it helps undue the damage caused by permanent dyes because it doesn't have any harsh chemicals that strip hair. Arctic Fox is actually GOOD for your hair and works just like a conditioner, not like a hair dye. I add Arctic Fox to my regular conditioner (sulfate free of course) so that every time I wash my hair I'm also keeping my red looking vibrant and even healthier every time. I always wash my hair using the coolest water I can tolerate and after I shampoo I apply my premixed bottle of 3/4 sulfate free conditioner, 1/4 Arctic Fox Wrath + a dollop of Violet Dream and let it sit on my hair secured on top of my with a claw clip while I finish the rest of my shower routine, just like I would do with a nourishing hair mask. Once my routine is done, I rinse out my hair thuroughly in cool water and towel dry it only so I get the most out of conditioning my hair, and viola! My looks, feels softer and healthier than before I washed it, plus my red still looks like it did the day I first day I dyed it. It's a win win. Not only does Artic Fox keep my red looking great, but it leaves my hair healthier every time also. Plus the custom colors you can create by mixing different different Arctic Fox colors together are endless! I was amazed at the color i got by mixing Purple AF + a touch of Aquamarine! It sounds crazy to mix aquamarine and deep purple together, but the color came out a multidimensional dark blue/purple-ish color that changes color depending on how the light hits it. It's my new favorite color! It does come out very dark, so I apply it (no conditioner added) to the bottom 1/3 of my hair and lightly pull the color upwards into my red to get a perfect blended fade from bright red to deep blue/purple. I have virgin dirty blonde hair. I bought the shade Transylvania which is a pure black color. I applied it last night to my clean hair, no products or nothing in it and let it sit in foil for about 40 minutes. I didn't apply the dye to my whole head, I just wanted to add pieces here and there throughout my hair like I've done in the past. Upon rinsing my hair out with cold water and letting it dry I noticed how faded the black looks. In the shower the water ran blue. I know black dyes typically contain blue but this was like a vibrant blueish green. In artificial lighting the dye in my hair looks like a dark grey, but in the natural sunlight it looks like a greyish green which isn't very pretty at the moment. I'm going to give it one more go before I decide whether or not to return this. I usually LOVE arctic fox dyes and have never had issues before but this black dye really needs to be reformulated.Jen

I'd been looking for the right combination to get a natural looking red/auburn (I CANNOT pull off ginger much to my chagrin) for almost a year and was afraid to go red again after my last experience with red (well orange) but I can't talk enough about how good this product is. I had mousy, light brown hair that is, at this point after 5 or so years of frowning it out, virgin hair. I also don't use heat on my hair so it's rather resistant to most temporary, semi- or Demi permanent color, which leads to a LOT of transfer. I have little to no transfer even with day 3-4 hair or after the shower as long as I rinse until the water is clear. I mix the merlot and copper shades 50/50 and use it every other wash in the place of my normal cleansing conditioner which equals about 1x a week for me with my curly girl routine. I've found this maintains the color without having to wait extended periods of time with goop on your head. I only do that every 4-5 washes depending on how my color is holding up. I get so many compliments on the color (it's been described to me as Irish setter red if you want a visual aid). People are shocked when I say it's dyed which is crazy to me but definitely welcome! I have very few gripes about the product, only really two minor things. Unfortunately, like almost every other non-permanent due on the market, it does have silicones, it just comes with the territory but I find that the shampooing with the color keeps my hair from getting too limp or messing with my curl pattern (3A). I don't like silicones but it's a trade-off I find worth it, especially given that I can stop using the product if it's weighing my hair down and messing with the curls. In addition to that, because I have to mix the colors and red is notorious for staining, my hands, my bathroom and tub have become Peach Bellini or red tinted on more than one occasion but that's more me not being careful enough than the product being bad. I've been buying the smaller bottles for 2 years and then last year there was a 50% off sale so i bought 3 of these huge bottles. i lost 2 of the bottles during moving (😭😭😭 i mourned these and ripped apart everything trying to find them) but the big bottle i did get to try, lasted over 6 months, it definitely replaced my use of shampoo AND conditioner bc it DID feel cleaner without having to using a shampoo n i felt like not using a shampoo at all was better. it DOES stain ur tub n shower if u dont wipe it off immediately if it does splatter but honestly worth it. its not AS staining as some other color depositing conditioners ive used, it smells great, and the color DOES last. fyi tho if u scratch ur scalp like i do when im thinking, the color will show up under ur fingernails tho 🤡 you can check my insta n quite literally see how long its lasted me since hair salon color. after using it once touching up roots n overall hair dye at the hair salon, the color literally never faded except for the times i didnt use the clenditioner. i also think it made my hair softer n healthier too. idk ab these hair loss claims but my hair was already losing hair bc of my continuous 4+ years long hair color journey of repeatedly dying it pink for 4 or so years without a break so maybe the hair loss claims are just ab the bleach? or some other environmental factor? i dont think its made it more hair loss-y tho. the color is rosegold however u can see a bit of lilac/lavender colors in there too so ig just be aware? i dont mind it all tho cause i love the pink, rose gold, and lilac/lavender hues i hope they have the 50% off sale again bc if i buy another 3 bottles–im pretty sure itll last 3 years(at least for me) i use to have shoulder length hair but now more like bust length hair. This review is for maintaining fashion color that was done professionally. I had purple and pink rainbow hair. My stylist recommended using this product as directed every other wash. I mixed the pink with a small amount of purple to make a dark pink. It really seemed to revive both colors. I applied to wet hair, used in place of shampoo and conditioner, left in for the rest of my shower, and then rinsed with cool water. Afterwards I applied olaplex hair perfector and a few drops of olaplex oil. Every time my hair was left perfectly soft and clean. I easily made it 3 months between color appointments. The bottle does say to test the product before each use. I imagine there must be some allergic reactions that can result, which I think is supported by several reviews stating they had hair loss. I would recommend being careful about trying to use this as a dye or for extended time on dry hair. This product does not work on my natural brunette growth. Lastly, this can stain your hands, but it won't for long. I just rinse my hands after every segment of hair that I work it into. I also have a scalp scrubber and wide tooth comb that I use to gently distribute so I'm not just using my hands. Rinse the product off of the shower walls and tub or it can stain, but bleach spray takes it right out.B

I truly love this Blue Curaçao (aka Intense Pure Indigo)! I have…had virgin hair that was strawberry blonde until I dyed it with Garnier Fructise Intense Fiery Red all over. I then decided I wanted some dark highlights. After hours of searching for the perfect color, I found the Blue Curaçao. I had washed my hair twice in the time it took to receive the blue (a total of 7 days). I sectioned the top and sides of my hair to do 4 strips/highlights of the blue. I then pulled the portion underneath (the portion near my neck) and colored all of that with the blue. I left it in for 25 minutes, rinsed it out with cool water until the water was no longer Blue, put on the Mask Treatment (D – included with the Garnier Fructise) and let that sit a couple minutes. I then rinsed it all, used a thermal protectant spray (Aussie Total Miracle) and blow dried my hair. The colors are beautiful together! My hair feels soft and is shiny. I was prepared for this to do nothing to my hair since my hair is nearly black. What I wasn’t prepared for was the horrible difference between my roots and the rest of my hair. Any dye with a lifting (lightening) component will direct you to do your roots last, as the heat of your scalp will cause the dye in this area to process much faster than the rest of your hair. Since the directions specified to start at the roots, I was under the impression this was not something I had to worry about and I followed the directions. This was a mistake. As you can see from the pictures my hair looks like the box for the first inch of roots and then is almost completely unchanged. There isn’t even a gradual change, it just abruptly stops. To be clear, has it been barely noticeable all over, or the root color all over, I would have been happy. I have been dying my hair for 15 years and have never had this problem, because directions should (and usually do) account for the product behaving this way.Lana

This is literally the worst product I've ever used. Not only did it not work. It ruined my hair. It took my light brown unprocessed hair and turned the middle orange and the ends are now the color and consistency of a banana. I've been coloring my own hair for 25 years. My mother has been a cosmotologist for 40 years. I'm no novice when it comes to hair. I normally would never have bought bleach or color for that matter in box form but this was the only thing available to me so I thought i'd give it a shot how bad could it be. I never imagined in a million years that it would DESTROY my hair. I followed the directions on the box. PLEASE be aware that this has a chemical called ethanalomine in it. A corrosive and dangerous substitute to ammonia. No harsh chemicals? Bah! I have lost 75% of my hair since I started using this product during the pandemic last year. I have been through rounds of steroids injections to try to bring it back. It has ruined my life. Came out way, way darker than expected. I would describe the color as “soft black” and definitely not “medium brown”. I had to pay a stylist to fix it. I also have been experiencing a significant amount of hair shedding since using this. My stylist confirmed that my hair definitely looks thinner. A bit of Google searching confirmed that this is a common problem and there is even a class action lawsuit in NY over it. Just pay a stylist or use another brand. I am 48-years old and this was the first time I have ever dyed my hair. I was starting to really get grays and wanted to cover them but keep my hair color as close as possible to my natural color. I bought the Sardinia Red and it covered my grays beautifully. It's a little darker than expected indoors but its a very radiant red when you are outside in the sun. Adds color while you shampoo. Ounce per ounce, it is a bit pricey and it doesn’t seem to lather up as much. So compared to ordinary shampoos, you may end up using more of this product to feel like you’ve gotten you hair clean enough, to where you’d expect it to be, having just washed it. It works best on color treated hair but if you’re using this product for the first time, you shouldn’t expect to see the vivid color results like the hair swatches on the website or the ads. If you’re using this shampoo to maintain your already ultra-bright hair color, it should work beautifully— provided you follow the directions carefully. If you’re starting with hair that’s just been bleached light blonde or platinum, you should see great results too— provided you allow it enough time (several minutes) to soak in. If you’re building on hair that’s been dyed, but it’s a “normal “ hair color, then you’ll likely get wonderful jewel tones. Pretty, but nowhere near the bright colors you saw, that probably got your attention. Use nylon or plastic gloves. At first, I felt it went without saying because it IS hair coloring, but after reading several other comments, I want to reiterate: even though gloves are not included, they are recommended. And just like with traditional hair color, you should also apply a thin layer of protection around your hairline before using this product too. You can use either a proprietary product or your own, just create some kind of a barrier with an oil-based product (like Vaseline or AD ointment) something that won’t be absorbed but rather prevent the color from soaking into your skin while you’re waiting for the color to set. My lovely hair stylist recommended Celeb Viral color a little over a year ago and I have used it ever since. It keeps my hair smooth, my purple hair vibrant, and just overall my hair hasn’t been healthier. Thank you so very much! It keeps my hair purple for over 18 weeks between hair appointments to refresh the color. I’m sure I could go longer without having to see my stylist thanks to using this to wonder shampoo, but l like to make sure my hair stays healthy. The only cons I would say aside from it being really good, is that it does stain the tub every time I use it, but I found borax soap cleans it up nicely. Aside from that, it’s a bit pricey for such a slim bottle and I have to use quite a bit because I have really long hair. Since my brunette hair can't hold purple color very long, I was going through desperate lengths to keep it looking fresh and vibrant. I was limiting hair washing down to 3 times a week, using the coldest water I could stand and top of the line shampoos/conditioner that either specialize in fade prevention or advertise color protection; I even installed a soft water filter in my shower head! My stylist recommended me get it colored every 6 weeks, due to it just washing down the drain in a matter of weeks and that is just something I can't afford to do that often; She educated me of this line and I cant live without it!! My hair looks as it did the day I left the salon. This stuff has saved me so much money because it is no longer necessary for me to get my hair colored every 6 weeks, but more like 3 or 4 times a year! Sometimes it dries my hair out, but nothing a leave in conditioner or deep conditioning treatment can't fix. If I could change one thing it would be them offering a much larger size, because I go through this every 2 – 3 months or so. Yes it will get everywhere and could stain your tub/shower but I use a tile cleaner with bleach and it eliminates all of it as if nothing happened. I also don't use this alone, I layer my favorite color protection shampoo over the colorwash and fade prevention(moisture adding) conditioner over the colorditioner, both assist with shine, keep it maintained and preventing my hair from getting brittle. I really love the shade selections, but my scalp has become hyper sensitive to hair dye and I had inflammation and a lot of itching after using the dye. The color also didn’t last and by week 2 grays are appearing, though they look a little blondish so aren’t too bad. The search continues for a hair dye that doesn’t inflame my scalp. I wanted to go back to my original color after having purple hair for three years. This product does a good job of covering my grays and previously lightened ends until I'm able to grow them out. It is a good texture when mixed with developer and easy to use with either a brush and bowl or a squeeze bottle. I have had split dyed hair for quite awhile. Ive used a few diff brands and thought this one would be my favorite. Unfortunately, it bleeds almost as badly as a semi permanent color. And when you have a light color on the other side the transfer of the black ruins the other side a little at a time. Still love pravana, just not this one.K.

EDIT: I updated this review from 4 stars to 2. I waited the recommended time (48 hours) to do my first wash, and then washed every third day to try to preserve the color as long as possible. It’s been almost 2 weeks since I dyed my hair and it’s already fading super bad. My hair is no longer blue, it’s green and blonde patchy. Doesn’t look too bad, it’s just very disappointing. In some spots the bleached hair is definitely showing through. Every time I wash my hair the water runs a dark blue and I can literally see the color fading every time. I have to blow dry my hair I every time I shower or get my hair wet at all. While blow drying, my fingers turn blue from running them through my hair to dry it. I have to use a dark towel so that I don’t ruin a good towel and turn it blue. This dye is ok for someone who wants a little something different for a couple weeks or a cute Halloween change up. If you’re looking for something more permanent or just longer lasting, use something different or go to the salon. The fact that this took hours to do and has a lot of maintenance makes it not worth the effort to do. I don’t recommend this product. I was really wanting difference. I’ve had my hair Pink, green, blue, purple, etc but all during my teen years. The last few years I’ve been doing the basic natural colors for my hair so I wanted a change. I looked up so many different brands and this ombré kit was the only one that came with everything you needed. The bleach, the two colors, the rubber bands and the gloves and instructions. I read the reviews and went through all the YouTube videos and found that I would need 2 boxes to do my whole head. I have bra length darker brunette hair that’s sort of on the thicker side. So I went ahead and got a 2 pack. First off, the instructions are very easy to understand and very easy to follow. The gloves that come in the kit are on the short side, they barely go to my wrists so that’s one issue. It’s also a bit difficult to pour the powder contents into the bleach mixture, I’d recommend using a small funnel or something to make it easier. The bleaching process took me almost 2 hours and two bottles to get to more of an orange blonde vs the hay blonde they suggest. Although I’ve read that to get better results you should start the bleaching at the roots and work your way up, wrapping your head in a bag or towel to use heat to lift the color better. During the dying process I used the dark blue on my roots and turquoise on my tips. It was very easy to do this process just make sure you don’t miss any strands. I was 100% sure I got all the stands and went over it multiple times and still found I missed a couple after I’d rinsed. Nothing too bad though. When doing the dying process, I’d suggest using an old towel or two to cover EVERYTHING in close vicinity to your dying station. That color can and will get on everything and it will dye it within seconds. I was able to contain it but my sink now has a couple blue spots. The dye will dye your skin so use a good vaseline around your forehead, ears and back of neck. I got some on my skin but it came off the next day with a hand towel and some baby oil. The dye itself is actually not bad scented. It smells almost like blueberries so it’s very pleasant. Also for reference, I’m allergic to regular hair dye, it’ll burn my scalp up, but this dye did not burn at all. It is cruelty free and vegan so that’s probably a huge factor there. After the final rinse I was able to dry it up with a hair drier and put some leave in conditioner in my hair to help out with moisturizing since all I was able to use during this whole process was shampoo after bleaching. All in all it didn’t do too bad. Really the only thing different in this that what I normally did with the natural color dye is bleach and the time it took to do everything. The whole process for me took about 3 hours. So definitely plan a lot of time to do this job. I will update this review after a couple days of wear to tell if it lasts or not.kandy.b

I've tried high end salon coloring products and everything at the drugstore too, ultimately the fact remains that different hair types react differently. For my hair, which is curly, half coarse, and thin (but I have a big head with lots of thin hair)… No matter what the product, it will resist to some degree for a while. With splat permanent color I process for 45 minutes before rinsing out with conditioner. But I don't aggressively shampoo or rinse the first 48-72 hours. CAUTION; during this time any sweat will drop colored!!! I use an alcohol based disinfectant wipe to gently blot my skin, the alcohol removes the pigment so it doesn't stain. BE CAREFUL if you have sensitive skin, this is not for everybody! But anyway, I've found that this dormant period allows for deeper pigment saturation so long as no obviously visible dye is left on scalp or hair itself. The first 7-8 or so washes will bleed out some color, decreasing with each wash. I've found that after about 2 months the pigmentation is definitely a couple shades less vibrant/faded. That's when I touch up and keep going. I've tried bleaching my hair first and it doesn't make a difference. As a matter of fact when lightening my hair prior to any dye use it actually prevents the color from holding. See picture, decide for yourself. If you have similar hair that's darker and wavy and are happy with the ombre look, I strongly suggest. If any of the above mentioned situations are unappealing or not what you're after, skip and try another option.Mamaonthegogo

A favorite of mine for true grey coverage. I believe this line is being discontinued, which I'm not happy about as it did have very even and predictable results. This line also offered dark colors in cool toned, blue and violet bases, which I adored for my dark hair. Also, this did not irritate my scalp the way most permanent color lines do.jessica.s

I've used matrix for years and did a touch up on my mom we have used the same formula for years but this time the color didn't take on my moms hair some areas didn't even take the grays. I'm very disappointed with this product. I'm gonna have to find another colorline for my mom next time.Sara Jacobs

I love this hair dye! It covers 100% of my gray and it has no odor when I apply it. The consistency of it is good too as it's not real runny and doesn't make a big mess. I use the Matrix 20 volume developer with it as that is what is recommended. It leaves my hair in really good condition too. I find I can get just as good of a result with this hair dye doing it myself at home versus going to a salon and having them do it, but for a whole lot cheaper.gros-1402

I have been using this product for several years. I mix two colors and I am happy with the results I get. Going to the salon to have my hair color would cost over $75.00 every 4-6 weeks. I also purchase the developer and I can do my own color and save $$$$$$$. It is a task and can get messay but worth it to me.suzannelcarlos1952

The quality of this product is very good. I used the correct concentration of developer to color ratio on a test spot. it did not lift my hair. I haven't been able to achieve HI lift color ( any brand)( and I have tried every brand) on my hair since I have had more grey hair because my dark level 6 has gotten darker with hormonal changes. That being said I believe this product is a good value and is high quality, but unfortunately i cannot use high lift colors on my hair any longer . I went back to my stylist for partial foils with bleach is the only way to lighten my resistant dark hormonal hair and tone the grey highlights to blonde. If you have virgin hair that is the correct level, you should have good results!superluckygirlm111

this is very similar to a wella t18. it's a light pale ashy blonde toner. definitely not what i would consider to be "pearl" by any means. looks purple/grey when it goes on, develops fast so watch your time. i mixed this with a 10 volume& put it on prelightened level 10. first i did a root smudge with a level 8 and then added the toner and blended downward where the two colors met to transition. it turned out nice but i could have gotten the same result with wella t18 ??????? was hoping for something a little more "pearl" like… like luminous or something i don't know… but i ended up with an ashy blonde. which is fine just not exactly the result i was hoping to get. i love that it's 3 oz though. most toners are only 1.5-2 oz so you get a lot more bang for your buck. i bought 2 tubes and mixed them 1:1.5 and had plenty left over for my extensions.?.

During my first application the product never changed color which I thought was weird, had it on for 20 minutes before I decided to take it off. I tried again mixing a little bit of developer and rubbing it. Immediate change in color. I quickly started applying it starting at my roots and used my fingers to rub it down to the ends of my hair. I wanted to go forna darker gray so I kept it on for about 30 minutes. As you can see from the photos my roots turned into a blue that transition to a blue gray and finally my ends turned into a brown gray color. This was due to my ends not being properly bleached. I rebleached my ends and the toner came off within 5 minutes. Kept it on longer to try to get as much of the orange as I could and am currently toning the ends again. Overall the color I have so far I really like and I've already bought another tube as a back up for the future.M.

I have been in the hair industry for 25 yrs. In that time I have used many professional color lines. Pravana has always been my first choice. They are consistently introducing new colors. I currently lighten my hair and the Pravana Express Tones are the best way to get the blondes I like. This time I used Smokey Silver and Violet. It cooled my blonde nicely. This product leaves my hair shiny and leaves my hair feeling great. I will for sures continue using this product and would recommend it to anyone going for a light to pale blonde.joslyn.l

I'd tried the Chocolate colour and it just didn't work on my dark chestnut and grey hair. It kept going light brown with golden highlights. I was about to give up, when I discovered the Deep Chestnut Shadow. The three shades from black seemed like a worthwhile risk to take. Well I finally worked out the ratio that appeals to my sense of mathematics (1 part to 4 parts). I tried one teaspoon of the number one packet and four teaspoons of the number 2 packet. It looked very green in the waiting process, but I persevered. I waited for three hours, somewhat impatiently, but it worked. I've now returned to my former glory of a warm chestnut brown. I'm very happy with the results. My hair feels and looks so thick and healthy again. I'm grateful to have hair colour that is chemical-free too. Thank you Biome.Ms J.

As someone who dyes their hair quite frequently, Manic Panic is always my go-to dye brand. So far, I have used Ultra Violet, Vampire Red (the color shown here), and Hot Hot pink. As a semi-permanent dye, it washes out quicker than permanent dyes typically do, but re-applying it when needed is super easy. Purple and pink for instance, tends to wash out quicker than red in my experience. After a week or two of washing hair daily, the purple and pink are almost completely gone. Vampire Red has seemed to last longer, however, and even after several weeks my hair is still tinted a slight pinkish-orange color unlike the other colors which leave no evidence of ever being dyed after a few weeks. To make the color last longer, I like to wash my hair and then put a shower cap on for the rest of the duration so that the water doesn't hit it the entire time, which seems to do wonders for keeping it vibrant for a little while longer. All of Manic Panics colors are super vibrant and I love that they do not have ammonia or some of the other damaging chemicals that most other dyes have. I would definitely recommend this brand for anyone who is interested in trying out a funky new do.BulldogLover

I use to love manic panic hair dye and have dyed my hair so many times with their products. However this product dyes everything it touches and I've spent many hours removing everything it has stained in the bathroom. It has unfortunately stained my entire shower as well as my skin. It's been over a week since I've dyed my hair and the dye is still bleeding on everything. I am now researching how to remove hair dye and booking myself in to the salon to remove the colour. Unfortunately due to this terrible experience I am reluctant to buy Manic Panic again. I'm aware that Manic Panic tends to bleed more than other dyes but from using their products for almost a year, I've never experienced anything like this.Charlie_09

This was the very first time I tried manic panic of any kind, and as far as the company and product itself goes, I'm definitely going to get more! Unfortunately, however, I wish they'd properly advertise how the colors will show up on brown hair. This color shows up completely green (dark green) on my hair (which is normally identical to the dark hair on the chart). Despite what I expected, the green was more than fine by me, so I added some more to my hair. If this were the only problem, I would have left 4 stars. The nice, dark, almost metallic green color left behind only lasted about 3 days afterwards. 3 days and two washes later it was virtually all gone. I know they advise bleaching to get the best color, but if they know it won't work well on darker hair, then maybe they should stop advertising it for darker hair, or at least add honest photos of how it'll actually look rather than just photoshopping a blue layer over brown hair. If I got a different color better suited for my natural hair color, there's no doubt in my mind I would leave a 5 star review for that. The product itself was very easy, left my hair soft and undamaged, and surprisingly didn't stain as badly as I expected. So bottom line, yes, I would recommend, but ONLY if your hair is light. Anything darker than dirty blonde- stay away! (Unless, of course, you're looking for green!)Greenie

I always wanted to go purple but I never had the nerve. I am so happy my first time was with this product. My hair is so soft from the moisturizing aspect of the dye itself and the pastel purple color is beautiful! It comes in a 2.53 oz tube. The only thing I found was with long hair even with combing it through it was a stretch towards the end to cover it well so next time I think I will have two tubes ready. My hair is not real thick but I think that if you have thick hair you might find it would be good to have an extra ready just in case. I also thought to mention it doesn't smell bad either so sitting there with it on isn't torture. On the test strand I left it on my hair for 30 minutes and the color was not quite what I wanted so when I did the full head I bagged it and left it on for an hour. Because it is moisturizing it does not hurt your hair to leave it on longer from what I found. My hair is dark blonde and gray so I didn't need to bleach first to get the nice pastel color but maybe with darker hair you would probably need to do that in my opinion. My roots are lighter because that's where it is more gray so it is a darker purple but that's okay because I love the way it fades down to the pastel from there. I suppose if you do have lighter roots you might want to apply there last possibly. I love it though so for me it's perfect! Since I only wash my hair every two days usually because it gets dry I am not worried about it washing out too quickly and when it does I plan on doing this again and again. I think next time I will get two colors and do the ends a different color. That was my husband's idea as he did it for me to help me get the best coverage and he thought that would look great too! Brite cruelty free vegan hair color was very easy to use & came out great!!! Instructions were easy to read& follow. Simply use as any other hair coloring kit. This product is designed to be Non damaging to your hair. You can strand test prior to coloring your hair. Once the strand test is done, you simply apply to hair ( if your just using this one kit) then wait 10+ minutes until desired color. Once you reached desired color simply rinse with cool water and style normally. As this product is semi permanent it fades with each shampoo. I did color partially my head of hair ( I have dark brown& light brown) so I colored my light brown portion of my hair & after about 25 minutes I had the desired color. Once washed and dried I had a beautiful pink color. After washing my hair more than 6-7 times I still have a pink color. I absolutely love Brite hair coloring kits because they're easy to use and fun to change the color often without damaging my hair.Mcava23

I have always colored and streaked my own hair and figured I would try something new and edgy so I ordered the Brite Cruelty Free Vegan Hair Colour in Rose. Very easy directions since you don't have to mix anything – you just have to wash your hair with no conditioner and check the color every ten minutes. Since it was only a short commitment from 5-30 washes I figured how wrong could it go – I'd do a few streaks and see what happened. I did do the Brite Cruelty-Free Vegan Hair Colour in Silver first, sparingly streaking it which did not show up as I thought it would. So I used more of the Rose throughout my hair but unfortunately, it got into some of the silver areas. Very tricky to do and I am not a professional. The end result did pick up the highlights in my hair but with a slight pinkish tone with brighter pieces. It looks different and yes edgier – doesn't exactly look like the box but I'm happy with the outcome. Since I wash my hair every day it should be gone in a couple of weeks so for now, I'll enjoy the youthful color tones to my hair, and next time I might just do one color at a time!NB

I had never used this type before; they send you a neat little tray and a 2-sided comb to mix the tubes of color and developer in. I'd always used the typical squirt bottle type. The color of the two components when mixed reminds me of banana pudding :^) The application was easier and less cumbersome than I'd anticipated. Literally just dab the brushy part of the comb into the tray and smooth it on. The box says "No stains". I honesty was concerned it wasn't changing the color of my hair or that my eyes were playing tricks on me, because there were absolutely NONE of the telltale signs. No "Beetlejuice" ring on my forehead around my hairline, I didn't look like Groucho Marx (I do my eyebrows, too), and didn't have to scrub my neck and temples raw. I left it on for 30 minutes. Other boxed dyes have needed to stay on for an hour, based on my experience using them, but I followed the time recommended for this one. After rinsing, I took a shower and washed/conditioned my hair, mostly expecting to see my grey-peppered roots after I took the t-shirt off my head, because there's no way a hair dye could just somehow attach itself ONLY to my hair and not also my soul. Some type of magic happened. You gotta see it for yourself to believe it. I see no reason to ever again use any other boxed hair color. oooby-dooby dees pancakes and bees ok? jeeez.Dillon

Just dropping by to say thank you for making my life so much EZer lol with your product. I was using the regular Bigen has color in the small glass and also when you changed it to the plastic bottle witch I liked because it was an upgrade from the glass bottle. You didn't need much with the product in the plastic bottle because it made more as a foam😊. One thing about that process was the black spots everywhere on walls and things but not to much now. Then I search the web on re-usable hair die and I stumbled upon your awesome product EZ Bigen hair die. Also would like to mention that Wal-Mart stopped carrying the regular Bigen in-store. In my last review I mentioned about purchasing two at a time and my 2 just landed in my Possession. Highly recommend this product 👌Dan Baltimore
