Best Commercial Wet Dry Vacuum (2025 Update)

Great vacuum, great value. Used it for a few years almost daily and no issues whatsoever. I use the switched outlet alot as well and no issues either. I only connect tools that use 6.5a or less. The only issue is the hose storage which is lacking. I made some diy brackets and used velcro cable storage straps to solve that. If it brakes, I probably get another one.Florian

the vac may be more powerful than before, but the whine in the sound is more high pitched and definitely not as nice as older versions and the hose failed quickly. Ive had a porter cable for more than 15 years that has never failed with thousands of hours on it. after the hose failed on fein I'm back to old faithful, which is also a good bit quieter ….theyre sending a new hose but the build on it is poor at best. I absolutely do not trust its longevity. Also to change an end receptacle piece on the hose ( say from using with a power tool to vacuum), you must depress a tab which is connected to an O ring which is difficult to manage. I usually need to use my 5 n 1 to get it depressed enough to disengage etc….a constant irritant. If I can't find a better hose to fit the machine, because I have no faith in the provided one, I'll be regretting my decision to buy this tool instead of the fess vacuum….QUANTON

Very Quiet Vacuum. Fast change between Wet and Dry vacuuming set-up- Hose length and flexibility are well thought out. I really like the adjustable suction valve that's built into the end of the vacuum hose. I've seen this on Bosch Vacuum hoses as well. Nice feature when your vacuum lacks the ability to regulate vacuum power like the older Fein Vacuums could. The only gripe is that any attachments are a separate purchase, since they don't come with the Vacuum. I knew this beforehand, so it wasn't a rude surprise though.Callan

We are renovating a 133 year old house and after the demolition crew left, I used this vacuum to remove all the small debris and significant amounts of old dust and spiders from the floors, wall studs and rafters. With the HEPA filter and powerful suction, there was no airborne dust from vacuuming. I also vacuumed the very old, dirty basement without any problems. I have a Metabo dust extractor that retailed for $600. I kept having issues with the switch amd it's been in the shop getting fixed? I hope? It's been months now. I am a high end stair and finish carpenter by trade. I use these to hook up to chopsaws, table saws, sanders etc. I have been looking for another good extractor for a while now and being without one for at least a month so I finally went ahead and bought this one. I knew of Kärcher from buying vacuums for our church years ago. I knew that they are basically a professional only company for the most part. They have a few homeowner items but by far mostly serious machines. That's why I was so shocked at how cheap this vacuum is. I have had it for several weeks now, maybe a month, and it's better initially than my Metabo ever was. It's more solid and well designed. I could run the Metabo without a bag because of its filter cleaner. This one doesn't work as well so I will be keeping a bag in it. But it's not a big deal to me, just have to empty the bag every few days. I have been very happy and impressed by the machine so far. It has some interesting switch mechanics that I wonder how they will last. What I am referring to is that you turn the dial left to just turn it on. Turn it right once or twice to use varying levels of the filter cleaning mechanism. But if you plug something into the tool outlet on the front of the vacuum you can no longer turn it on manually. It turns on when you turn on what's plugged into it. It's a neat little feature I just always wonder how long a sensor will last in a dusty environment. We will see. But overall I am very happy with this purchase. I will buy another if I need one in the future. At this price point I/anyone would be foolish not to. One heads up though if you're going to buy one. The online information is NOT clear as to what comes with it and wether it works the same as other dust extractors. This shop vac is a nice intersection of capacity, power and price. 12 gallons is plenty for my needs. With its low center of gravity, it is difficult if not impossible to tip it off its wheels. The connection collar for the smaller diameter hose from my previous ancient shop vac fits in the coupling intake of this new one….a bonus. The vac comes with many attachments that can be stored on the machine. Half the noise of my old vac. And its construction is stout. Its a winner!Btowner

We were excited to find this one on sale, it had much higher horsepower than a smaller one used for years. Since we ordered it online as a Christmas gift for ourselves, we were not aware of how tight or well it went together, & did mot get a chance to use it right away within the 1st 30 days, as 30 days ended before Christmas! 1) It is HUGE, much, much bigger than a larger-capacity one we have of a different brand. Make sure you have a very large storage place if you buy this one. It is much bigger around than it is tall. 2) Regretfully, when trying to use it, as much dog hair/dirt/soot (still in places from the huge fire near us last summer) blew OUT of it as going in, the two times we tried it-& it didn't work for the garage any better than our dirty house. No matter how things were put together, it still has a very large output of whatever dirt you are trying to put in it, blowing all over so it makes it harder to clean afterwards than if you'd just left it or swept it up. We have not figured out yet, other than a good amount of Duct Tape, how to attach another hose to where the debris pours out, but hope to find something to use soon. This does not work well as a wet/dry yet, I hope I can change my rating after we jerry-rig it to work better.olga_p

I purchased the 20 gallon wet/dry vacuum with the 6.5 peak for my shop expecting a high quality Craftsman product. No so! First, no screws were included in the packaging to mount the handle or hose retainers. I immediately called customer support only to be told that my product support people don't work on the weekend so I should call back on Monday!!! The person on the phone could not help me. Not much of a help line if you have a job M-F. I ended up using my own screws to assemble it. Otherwise assembly was simple except the casters wouldn't "snap in" as per the instructions. I had to hit them in with a mallet which is a little unnerving when the parts are made from plastic. The motor housing lid does not fit snugly to the base. When you lift the vacuum by the handle, the motor housing separates from the base. The 20 foot cord is nice except the cord retention feature on the handle is designed to accept a 10 ft cord. The 20 foot cord won't all fit and annoyingly falls off. The vacuum hose is very stiff plastic. It requires you to "fight" with it while using it. It has a strong memory to the shape it took on in the packaging. The only reason I gave it a 2 start rating as opposed to a 1 star is because I like the 20 gallon size it on 1st use, it does have pretty good power and suction.Neal

Plenty of power and lots of capacity. Not very heavy, considering the size, so most people can carry it up and down stairs. The tool basket is a huge plus. The floor tool needs to be at the right angle for the best suction, but I am not sure how they would improve that. It would also be nice if the brush were included instead of as an extra purchase. The vac is loud, but perhaps that is necessary for the power, of which there is plenty. To park and move, the hose can be connected to two mounts at the back of the vac. I find it more convenient to pass the hose over and tie it to the tool basket.RidgidVacUser

Omg… This is the beast of shop vacs, I love it in all its shininess!! The stainless bucket is the best, so easy to thoroughly clean, unlike plastic buckets. Ive used it as a leaf blower on my deck, I've used it to vacuum sawdust off my sidewalk…it's awesome. Good power level, kinda noisy, but not noisier than any other from what I can tell. The only downside, I feel, is the hose. It feels a little cheap to me. If I pull on it while blowing/vacuuming, it sometimes falls into pieces. The attachments don't "lock" on, and I'm kind of weak, so they don't maybe get pushed on hard enough. I might go ahead and purchase the higher quality hose that is available just to avoid this problem in the future.S.

I bought this vac to clean the floor in my horse barn. I rake up the large pieces of hay and then the vac does everything else…..dried mud, horse dander, fine dust, small bits of hay. I had a Shop Vac before this one and only used it once then gave it away. The Ridgid is so much better than that Shop Vac. I gave it four stars in ease of use because I'd like a longer hose to reach the top of the stairs going to the loft. I can buy that separately I guess. Another reason is that it is unclear if bags are needed or not. I don't use bags but find the filter gets really dusty inside and needs a lot of shaking out. I gave the durability only four stars because I have only owned it for a week – not long enough to mark it on durability.Joybell3

As a mom of three, and dog owner, I was absolutely ecstatic to learn I was selected to review the CrossWave X7 Cordless Pet Pro vacuum through the Stellar Review Testing Panel. Everyday messes are definitely a regular occurrence in our home, and I'm usually left with three options: Lug out the large vacuum, and haul it from room-to-room, changing outlets every few minutes; hunch over with my dust-buster for 20 minutes (which is not kind to my neck and back); or leave the mess until later. As a neat-freak, the latter of the options is never my favorite, and I'm generally left either killing 20-30 minutes when I could be doing something more productive on top of becoming frustrated and left with a stiff neck. So, needless to say, when the option for a cordless stick vacuum (dedicated towards pets and kids), I was like a kid at Christmas. I love this product! The three settings make it easy to switch between our hardwood floors, area rugs, and there's a turbo setting that is great at getting those stubborn areas that can really use some extra attention. The product is lightweight, holds a charge (I can vacuum our entire home easily on one charge), and I've found it's a great alternative to throwing my rugs in the washing machine. We have quite a few area rugs throughout our home (all washable due to kids / pets), which is great – but they are a hassle to wash / dry, lay down properly after-the-fact. With the wet / dry function on the CrossWave, I can literally run the vacuum over my area rugs for 1-2 minutes, and when done, they look like they've just been washed. Pet hair, cereal, everyday messes are easy to clean up, and the product is easy to charge / set-up and use. If I had to review any negatives, it would be two features. First, hard to reach places (under furniture, and particularly stairs), aren't the easiest to clean. Second, the instructions point out to clean after every use (highly recommend or I've found there is an odor with use).designgal78

Just to start off this is a fantastic product. We bought some appliances so we got $400 best buy gift cards and i had a $55 certificate from best buy(which the online guy that was supposed to help us never applied still a lottle mad about that and its expired now but whatever). Did some research it was between this and the Tineco floor one S5 but we ended going with this because we do have a few rooms with carpets. The pros: .It can clean our house (roughly 2,000 sq ft) on one charge. .That turbo mode is WOW!! .Easy to maintain and clean .Very lightweight .it makes cleaning so much faster The cons: .Maybe its the formula we are using but it is extremely soapy but started using less and it works much better. .it doesnt get the carpets the best( we know ots for area rugs) but on turbo mode it will do a room full of carpet just wont pick up too much of the water but man does it pock up some stuff! .the dirty tank gets full quick The 4 star is mainly for the price of it it is a lot of money for what you get, but honestly we have no Rugrets not even one letter! We are going to order the brush specifically made for carpets and try that out and see how that works and also some little tips. . Run the clean cycle after every use . After you are done cleaning and ran the cycle and cleaned your equipment take off the roller and put it in the holder to let it dry .once a week (i tried doing it every day but its too much) do a nice deep clean of your machine if you take care of it, it will take care of you.Ivan

Its very easy to assemble with nothing more than a Philips head screwdriver. The bag is a great feature to conveniently store various attachments. The casters roll smoothly and quietly on my floor. The suction power is quite strong. Im very happy with it. If theres anything that I would like to see Dewalt do a little differently, its would be to give the extension tubes a dedicated slot to store vertically. The bag can hold them just fine, but they stick out because theyre longer than they bag. Still 5 stars. I love this vac.KittenSlayer

I have a water garden inside an old boat…have had it for years. Over time it had become a bog…totally full of decayed leaves, etc. After scooping out perhaps a third of them, in an effort to totally empty the boat, I realized it would take me forever so came up with the idea of using a shop vac. I really didnt know much about them, never having used one. But took a chance on this one and Im glad I did. It worked amazingly well and with a lot less effort than manually trying to clear the boat. It sucked up the water, no problem, and that was easy to drain so we could start sucking up the muck. It also handled that with no problem. I had been advised to remove the filter before tackling the boat and was glad I did because it probably wouldve been ruined otherwise. So thank you for a well made product that saved us a lot of time and energy! I dont imagine I will be using it very often, but at least I know it will handle whatever job we have.A

This is a newer, bigger shop vac than I had previously, and I couldn’t be happier! When I saw the size and build of this thing, I thought wow, it’s going to take 3 men and a boy to move this around😬……..nope, surprisingly lightweight for how well it’s made! Casters on the bottom are great for when you pick up liquids and need to move the unit to drain it, AND they are smart like a tiny fox for putting in a drain plug! I have a pond in my house, and use it to clean inaround it, this suckerlol, literally is my best purchase in a long time! I especially like the closed bag you can apply in the barrel for fine dust/dirt so it doesn’t just blow all of it into a finer dust out the exhaust like my previous one, that was not a DewaltSuper happy with the unitthought the price was very competitive!Becky

Works great! Unfortunately my 20 plus year old small shop vac I use for vehicles and garage died from drywall dust abuse so I had to get another and this works great as it's replacement. One downside is it should come with the BRUSH attachment for the price it was. Now to just use my bigger one for the construction stuff….anonymous

I originally bought the 12 gal size but returned it in favor of the 6, which I was really happy that I did. For regular household use, this is perfect. Some of the reviews were complaining about the casters; while they required some force to get in, they seem to be pretty locked in. I'd rather have to apply some force rather than have the wheels fall off. The 20' long power cord is also nice as it gives plenty of room to work with. The hose is a good length. Overall this is a really great machine for the price.Zamfir

Our Shop-Vac 6 gal 3 hp wet/dry vac gave out after many years of service. After researching way too many choices online, I settled on the Craftsman 6 gal. Corded Wet/Dry Vacuum 3-1/2 hp. While the machine size was what we wanted, and the price was right, especially with the Ace Rewards $20 discount, I was concerned that it came with so few attachments and a 1-7/8" hose that is not compatible with the assortment of 1-1/4" Shop-Vac tools we have acquired over the years. Ace does not sell a 1-7/8" to 1-1/4" adapter, but I assumed I'd find one somewhere online. When I got the vacuum home and put it together (easy assembly, by the way) I found that the machine end of the Craftsman 1-7/8" hose is identical to the that of the Shop-Vac 1-1/4" hose – each will plug into the machine's intake for a secure, no-leak fit. So, problem solved, and no adapter needed. We prefer the flexibility of the old 1-1/4" hose to the new, more rigid 1-7/8" hose for most of our around-the-house needs. If we have a bigger job that will benefit from the larger diameter hose, we'll simple switch hoses. The machine seems durable, with ample power and suction using either hose, and should meet our wet/dry vac needs for years to come.Paul

After searching for an small but sturdy wet/dry vac, I found this through a mailer. Unlike what was available on the A-Z site, this one is sturdy, does not turn over easily, and was fairly easy to assemble. OK I did have to have a guy help push in the wheels, but when together it is large enough to do the job, and the wheels keep it from over turning. I highly recommend it for small to medium jobs – and it can be used as a regular vacuum or to pick up water. The instruction book is helpful and clear on how to use and easy to put together.Auddiemae

Had a Shop-Vac brand, same size, finally died after years and years…replaced it with this one thinking "Craftsman has great warranties, and high quality, right?" Bought the vac and then after one use the world turned upside down. Now after getting somewhat normalized I've used it three more times. On it’s real third use the motor started sounding rough. Inspection led to nothing unusual sticking where it shouldn’t. Last use the motor started smoking and now won’t run but a few seconds till the thermal cuts it off Yes, I would very much like to speak to you about this vacuum.Tea3803

Assembly is trivial, but I noticed right away the extremely short power cord. I've got extensions but this immediately giving me a frowny face b/c a shop vac should have a 10 to 12 ft cord. Next was the very short hose. Again shop vacs are getting pulled into all sort of spaces and locations. A 4ft hose doesn't cut it. Plus it's such a tiny diameter, I'll have to hunt around for a longer one. It's almost a joke… I didn't want a huge shop vac, but looking at what just cost me over $80 I'm thinking just getting something from Harbor Freight.Sc0tt

I have never thought to much of a wet/dry shop vacuum but we are having work done in 2 rooms in our house and this vacuum has been a huge help. It easily picks up any debris and cleans up the drywall dust and small pieces with ease. We even had a small leak and were able to have it all cleaned up easily with this vacuum rather than wasting paper towels or dirtying towels this sucked up the water in no time leaving the floor slightly wet no more than if I had mopped. Bought primarily to clean my vehicle. Includes a smaller floor attachment and also a narrow one for getting into tight places typical in a vehicle. Suction is good if you don’t use the wand, and is only ok with the wand. The hanger is held to the wall by 3 screws in the centre of the unit. It is not very sturdy so I will likely add a few holes and screws to brace it a bit better.Nico

Portability and wall storage were the key factors for my purchase. Suction power is very good and all the included accessories are a big plus. Only downside for me was that the plastic attachment for the cover on the blower port was a bit cheap and difficult to “hook” onto the body of the vac. In fact mine broke just trying to connect it. Not a big deal and mainly the reason why I took off a star. Other wise the thing works great and looks good on my garage wall.Danny

Bought this Vac to replace the one we had in the garage. My husband loves it! Was easy to hang on the wall. Amazing suction. We don't have to empty it every time we use it, like our old one, unless you want to … it holds quite a bit. Wish the cord was 5 ft longer so we could get to the other side of the garage w/o using an extention cord … thats the only complaint but the cord is longer than most other vacs like this. Bought this wet/dry vacuum about 2 weeks ago. Great price. It was on sale for less than $90 Dollars. I couldn't be happier. Assembly was very easy. It runs very smooth and quiet. I even purchased the muffler for it.. Quite a nifty little design.. I also bought the car accessories kit(Same Day Purchase) that is compatible with this unit… It will definitely add a new dimension into my other hobby of detailing my personal vehicles.. I run a Electrical Contracting Business which this unit will be used at my shop also.. And I always have projects around the house that I can bring it home for. This wet/dry vacuum has already came through in the clutch with my garage makeover I'm currently involved in.. I would definitely recommend this wet/dry vacuum.ReconMarine

Purchased recently at Home Depot when my Shop-Vac suddenly quit, without warning, during what at least I THOUGHT was normal use. Actually the second Shop-Vac to do this – (maybe I'm harder on these things than I realize…?) – which DID influence my decision to try a different brand this time. The features on this vac are great! Love the ability to store all accessories on the units "legs". Extra long AC cord is helpful. Warranty is great. So far the performance has been flawless. We'll see if it holds up over time but, so far, its great!104JPD

I have retired from construction industry and have always used Ridgid tools. The castors have improved and it's less weight I have a black Lab and daughter has a black cat. I use this more than ever. Clean hot tub detail cars and vacuum back patio. Hope to use another eight years.Crawdad

This shop vac has some nice features like double row ball bearing casters with a steel stem and a 4 screw mounting plate for each. From 35+ years of owning many shop vacs, the wheels have been a weak link with all I have owned. The suction is very good and it is not crazy loud. It has a nice huge densely folded filter with a bag option also a foam ring for water pickup. The rear wheel axial pins did not hold the wheels on so I just used 2, 1/8" dia cotter pins. The biggest problem is the skirted rear wheels which makes it very hard to move it up and down stairs. You end up dragging on the plastic edge that wants to rip of the bottom skirt that goes across the whole rear. So if you use it for a wet basement and a car vac having to bring it up a flight of stairs, you will want to take an angle grinder to the rear skirt and cut about 2" – 3" off. It now lifts up over my steps better but not perfect as to be able to just drag it up or down. I have worked in the product design field and this is a typical case where the industrial designer who is geared for the appearance of the thing should have tested it with mechanical designer / engineer.Larry L

This US made vacuum works as hard as I do! After years, decades, of using only Shop Vacs (now owned by a Chinese company) this machine blows me away. It's my best friend on the current job site. It was easy to put together (You Tube videos) and it is turning out to be a real work horse. Days after using the vacuum, I purchased a separate bag to put over the filter. When opening the tank to install the bag, I was expecting to find a mess. Instead I was pleasantly surprised, the filter looked like it wasn't even touched. This thing rolls like it's floating on air, the hose doesn't kink, the suction is remarkable, and the attachments are all onboard, within reach. The handle makes moving the machine a breeze. I am a very happy customer, for sure!Chris

One week…drywall dust king sucker. Awesome for vacuuming sanded plaster before painting too. Husband really like the maneuverability and suckage and tool bag to keep eveything in one place. So far so goodSandra

I got this to use for indoor & outdoor/car use. We've used this for cleaning A/C return vents, cars, dusting floorboards & my favorite is using it to clean up all the dust & small waste pieces from the fresh hay I have to use to feed guinea pigs daily. In using this for the past for months we've only had to empty the canister twice which is great. All the more reason I went for the 5 gallon canister, having to dump it every day would be miserable. We haven't used it for anything wet so I can't rate it for that. My only gripe with this shop vac is that it will tip over before it uses the wheels to turn/roll even if you're guiding it. This happens on concrete, wood floor, tile floor & carpet.MiliaiMommy

Works great as a dry vacuum as expected. A pipe broke in my 5th wheel and filled the floor ductwork full of water. This vacuum sucked it dry without a problem. 30 gallon spill required emptying only 3 times. Perfect. Leaves and flowers dropped all over my porch, I almost bought a leaf blower, then I remembered the Craftsman. Switched the hose to exhaust, and instant 6hp leaf blower that cleared a large area fast. Will not suck the chrome off a trailer hitch, but almost.Mark

Purchased as a housewarming present for my son in law, I settled on a Craftsman shop vac for its well known reputation for quality. After much deliberation, I chose the model for it's HP, mobility, drum size. We put it too good use when just one week later, their basement flooded. As a wet vac , it had great suction & ease. Ten gallon was great size- we were still able to remove the full to capacity drum out the bulkhead.anonymous

We bought this as we are doing renovations at home. Works well to collect all dust without blowing all the air out. Two things I don't like is the metal pipes don't retract, so you sit with two pipes that doest fit nicely into the holders. Also the blow outlet is at the back of the vacuum so if you are in a dusty environment it blows dust everywhere. Wouldve been better on top.Rowan

We had a box store shop vacuum that we needed to replace. Noise and suction levels were important considerations. We had previously purchased a replacement box store vacuum that was incredibly loud and a smaller but much quieter vacuum that had mediocre suction. This Nilfisk vacuum turned out to be the answer. It offers powerful suction at an acceptable noise level. It, including its hose and other tools, are considerably more substantial than the box store vacuum. It also has an excellent range without having to use an extension cord. While it is pricier than a comparably sized box store vacuum, all in all it is an excellent value.JOE
