I just love the products! It left my hair feeling soft and natural. I have been using the products for a little over a month and my hair styles last from one day to another. I generally start off with two strand twist and wear that style for about 3-4 days before I take them out and where my hair in its full state. Cantu is definitely an excellent brand. My hair suffers from frizziness, dryness and flat curls. My friend, who has excellent curls, recommended Cantu to me so I bought a bunch of products during the sale not really having my hopes high because I have been really disappointed with recommended (and not recommended) products in the past. I have had a lot of negative coments on my hair especially given my new job which requires a neat and tidy appearance (they don't mind the curls, but they do mind the frizziness and the fact that it looks like a bird's nest most of the time even though I have product in it) My main concern is that the product does it job with minimal effort and doesn't break the bank. Even without the sale, I do believe Cantu is a super affordable brand. I have used this hydrating curling cream both in combination with another Cantu product and as a standalone and I am super impressed. Omg this hair masque makes my hair super Soft and moisture; it just makes my hair knots melts. It has a great scent. The texture of this hair masque is very smooth and creamy. I feel like Cantu really thought about this product and it shows. It's full of amazing ingredients including avocado oil, and honey. I had never heard of baobab oil, but from what I've read, it's full of antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids. I tried the masque on my daughter and although it may not have been enough moisture for her hair, it did seem to hydrate it and refresh her hair's shine. I’ve have now used this styling gel for 3 separate wash n go combinations and I LOVE it. It’s not tacky/sticky and gives moisture, deep definition, and HOLD! For Type 4 curl girls, using this gel in combo with the Pom and honey coiling custard is a dynamic duo! I’ve been looking for a solid gel from Mielle for my hair type and this one takes the cake! Here lately I’ve had an issue with flaking when using my wetline xtreme gel for hold. This gel has replaced that one in my routine as I’ve had NO FLAKING when used with the custard or other clear/light-color styling products. I have tried a few products for my hair including shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioners, and co-washes but none of them did the job like the pomegranate and honey products. I recently asked my aunt to purchase the pomegranate and honey shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, honey coil sculpting custard, and the co-wash, and my mom and I are obsessed. The shampoo and conditioner made my hair look and feel healthy and it moisturized and cleaned my hair thoroughly. After coming out of the shower my hair was detangled and healthy. My mom used the leave-in conditioner on my hair before twisting it and she used the honey coil sculpting custard and 2 other products to twist my hair. Frizzyness used to be very visible in my hair but now it barely showed. These products were overall worth the $65 spent and when it runs out I will most definitely purchase them again.
I am a fairly loyal user of As I Am curl jelly, but my local Sally was out of stock. I was reluctant to use the Mielle line as I had tried the original line of Mielle curl products in the past and it wasn’t enough moisture, weight, etc to nourish and define my curls. I have type 3C/4A THICK curls so I need moisture and weight for my curls to pop. After reading the label about the pomegranate and honey line being for type 4 hair, I decided to give it a try. Love love love this product! Been using it for several years now. I've tried just about every pricey hair care product on the market, but have found nothing works better to tame my frizzy curly hair than this affordably priced product. Works really well when applied to wet hair and leaving hair to dry naturally (it loosens my curls) or blow drying and styling. It has no residue and keeps hair looking great between shampoos. I can't believe how well this product worked on my hair. I'm Black, Type 4c hair, natural (not chemically relaxed) and this product, like other Garnier curl products and leave in smoothing anti-frizz products I've tried, works better than all of the products that are supposed to be created specifically for my hair. I just wish the jar was bigger because my hair is quite thick and shoulder length (once I detangle and moisturize it, otherwise it's neck length). Good thing this product is affordable, so I can buy two jars at once, because one jar lasts me about 5 washes (I use it on "wash day" to detangle, moisturize and stretch my curl after I wash my hair, which is about twice a week). Overall, this is the only product that actually works, is easy to use, is not sticky at all, holds two strand twists and cold roller sets nicely, makes my curls soft and shaped/defined and is affordable. Works decent. It’s a bit heavy to work in the hair and you have to use quite a bit to define each area. The areas not fully saturated will be frizzy. Won’t be running fingers thru the hair because it dries in place the way a hell would. It’s not as heavy and isn’t crunchy as a gel. Use a diffuser and use ample product in pieces or sections if your hair is thick or very curly. Clean defined curls are the result. My hair is waist length and I needed to use 2/10 of the bottle for my entire head. Im guessing that i can finish the bottle in 5-6 uses at best. You’ll need to wet and reapply to second day hair so I recommend a silk cap to maintain the curls and not to sleep directly on them.hano.b
This stuff is amazing. I had to figure out the best way to use it for wavy curls (2b-3b on the curl type chart). I have tailbone length hair that is mostly long stretched spirals. I used about a half dollar sized amount for my whole head, scrunching it into wet hair in the shower, using the water in my hair to distribute it evenly. I then put it in a microfiber towel to get out excess water and then put it in a secondary dry one, making sure my ends went in first to further support curl formation without the weight on them. The total towel time was 45 minutes or so. When I took it down I had spirals already forming on the ends and my ends usually do not curl. I scrunched in some Tresemme mousse for hold and diffused. I have big chunky fat spirals which I love. Apparently this cream gets moisture into my hair which is hard to do, as it's low porosity. I think this is meant for tighter curl types but it works well for me. Pictures were taken minutes apart but my camera does weird things with lighting. Please excuse that. I went natural 5 yrs ago. I have a bin of unused products that failed to live up to their advertising. I have "4c" hair. I'm 63 yrs old and I was ready to cut it all off out of frustration. I was at my neighborhood hair store and the sales lady recommend CURL LA LA . I thought why not. My hair loves CURL LA LA . After washing and conditioning I applied CLL to my towel dried hair and immediately curls and waves are popping. I used a denman brush. I set my hair on hard medium rollers and air dried overnight. I literally had SUCH HIGH HOPES. I bought this during Ulta's sale and used it as a twist out. I had terrible build up and flakes to the point that I had to wash my hair 2 days later. The second time around I thought maybe I used too much product ( I do that a lot). I decided on a wash and go and used a different product as my main gel, and followed up with the honey custard at the end to just make sure every curl was covered. Using CONSIDERABLY less product. I paired it with the tgin rx leavin and once again I woke up with TERRIBLE flakes and product build up. I made myself late for work trying to wash it out. This is hands down the best curly hair gel on the market. I use 2-3 pumps for my whole head and scrunch it in after applying a leave in conditioner to very wet hair. It starts by drying hard but then as the day goes on, your hair looks and feels so soft and the curls are still in place. If i’m looking for a stronger hold because of a slick-back ponytail or something, I usually opt for a stronger gel like Not Your Mother’s. I branched out a year ago to try new products for my wavy hair and I stumbled on this one. I wasn’t sure at first because it’s a weird texture. Kinda like a watery gel. I wasn’t 100% sure it would help my hair. Omg. I was so wrong to be skeptical. This stuff is in my everyday hair arsenal. I scrunch this into my wet hair after a shower. Feels just like snot!! And gets the job DONE! So just so that you know, I’m a lazy 4C natural. Meaning I do bare minimum to maintain a few strands of hair on my non-chemically treated hair. I bought this product not knowing my hair type which is my bad. So if you have low porosity hair like me, this product might not be the best for you. I used this weekly and found that my hair felt extra greasy and had a lot of build up. The butters caused weighed down my curls and they still had a lot of frizz. I’m not impressed. Heavy for my fine 4C hair. But what bothers me most is the clumping of the product at the ends of my hair. Almost immediately after applying, I noticed tiny, almost imperceptible flakes on my forehead, in my eyelashes, and on my face. I thought my eyes were irritated by dust in the air. Then realized that the tiny specks on the inside of the lens of my eyeglasses were coming from my hair. I can’t recommend this product for that reason alone.
Kinda works but the smoothing gel with the as I am leave in gives me much better definition on my 3c/4a hair. I used those two with ecostyler as my final step and my hair never looked better. Also my hair stayed moisturized with essentially no tangles for over a week. That has never happened to me b4 using any styling combo. That said, I will not be purchasing the curling jelly again an will stick with the smoothing gel. I expected this to be my one and done for defining my curls . I used this without a leave in because I feel like it didn't need one and I was right because it was moisturizing. After I was half way through I realized my hair was more bigger than normal and that's a big inclination my hair won't last. I diffused my hair and stretched my hair like normal and the hold was so weak, it was like I blew out my hair like you would for a blow out. This is a great product for definition and styling. it is great for mixing with other products since it does not flake nor does it cause build up so you can use as much as you want. There is a little crunch once it dries but you can easily break them apart without flakes. I am biracial and have 3C hair and it helps keep everything moisturized and defined. I ordered this product specifically for a photo shoot the week of January 17th. I bought this product a few years ago, and I LOVED it. I thought wouldn't it be great to get this product again for my natural gray hair so that my curls will pop! I have fine, relatively thin, type 2C/2B hair and this cream is a game-changer for me. In the shower just before I get out, I coat one finger with this cream and scrunch wet hair upside down before I wrap it in a microfiber towel for about 10 minutes, then apply the Bounce Curl Hairspray all over, scrunch again, then a quick diffuse upside down to set the curls, then either air dry or fully diffuse dending on my mood. This photo is after my first try and after a few months I now have way less frizz and my curl pattern shows well every time. I do not know what kind of magic you put inside these jars, but please don’t ever stop. This cream gives me waves/curls like nothing else I’ve tried, leaves my hair feeling incredibly soft, shiny, and well conditioned without weighing it down. I get very bouncy, touchable curls which last for days. Most other products I’ve tried give me great curls at the start, but my curls fall by the end of the day. That is not the case here. I usually don’t leave reviews but I felt like I needed to for this. I have fine 3a/3b curls which get weighed down super easily. Other creams I’ve tried make my curls heavy and look greasy but this is not the case with Bounce Curl. Forgive me if I go into too many details about my haircare regimen, but I know the curly girls out there that need to know for this review. I use leave-in conditioner, curl cream/definer, followed by gel for my curls, then scrunch with serum once it's dry and set. I used the Pacifica Curl Definitely Defining cream as my second step product, and it worked well, better than other brands of similar price point. My hair had good definition and volume for a few days. But my real issue with it, is why does it come in such a small container. WHY?? Anyone who has curly hair knows they use a lot of product. I am always hesitant about curl creams and them being to heavy and weighing down my curls, but I absolutely love this one. I started with the smaller size in case I didn’t like it and I quickly had to get the full size because I loved it so much. My curls don’t get frizzy with just stepping out the front door in the FL heat anymore. It’s does a great job with keeping my curls clumped while keeping it still feeling like hair. I LOVE this hair cream!! I found it "by accident" when I was on vacation and forgot my hair gel. I bought a travel-sized one at the health food store there and was NOT disappointed! I was so excited to find a Pacifica product, as they are my favorite. I've been using the Salty Beach Waves hair balm for over 2 years, and now this Pineapple Swirl is right up there with it. I had to buy a regular size. I have a lot of curl in my hair and this really defines and amplifies the curls! It also cuts down the frizz. A little goes a long way, too! I put about a dime-sized of it in my hair when it's almost dry and I'm good to go! I love the natural ingredients and the smell is divine and not at all overbearing. I have 4a/4c hair. I've used this product twice. So, it doesn't readily absorb into my hair. I applied it by finger raking it through soaking wet hair in the shower. And this is the only product I used after thoroughly rinsing my conditioner. However, after allowing my hair to set for 2 hours I blow dried it and the product sunk into my hair without a problem. I got super defined soft coils with effortless volume which I love. My biggest issue with this product is that something in the ingredients irritates my scalp. I'm sitting here trying to focus on studying, but my scalp is itchy, and I don't have time to do my hair again right now. So I will have to return this to the store. I'm quite disappointed as the price point, quantity, and performance are pretty satisfactory. Oh well. Back to the drawing board.Nilajah
To start with, the smell is amazing! I love getting little whiffs of my hair as I move my head or the wind blows. I want to order other Cantu Avocado products from this smell alone! Equally important is how it moistens and defines my curly hair. I put it on soaking wet hair and let it do its magic! I’ve bought the non-avocado version of this before, and I love both. I haven’t really noticed a difference between the products, but have been using it for maybe a year and plan to continue. I struggled with definition and really had to look for a product that defined my curls. I was buying pricey product thinking that it would define my curls but eventually I found out I could save money!! I love mixing this gel with leave in conditioner as another reviewer mentioned. I rake though shea moisture’s curl smoothie and follow up with this product. I end up diffusing my hair after. Do not sleep on this product!! It is affordable and helps bring the definition I wanted. Don’t Shrink is a CGM approved protein gel with olive oil, shea butters, and glycerin. Flax seed really helps my hair retain its curl shape, the large jar helped me explore different styling techniques to see what works best with my hair and the price helped me feel better about re-styling failed experiment days vs conserving pricy product; which let’s face it, there’s a lot of fails in the beginning for curlies lol. I tried it out with super long hair and also with a long bob reset chop and both had consistent results. I achieved really great definition with a hard hold, I still had frizz but I also know this is most likely user error since I’m always improving my routines. I clarify every wash so I’m not one to comment on build up. I really wanted to love it, but I found out mid tub that I prefer shrinkage while I train my curl type. Like many wash and go naturalistas who rock the teeny weeny fro, I have gone through a lot of products trying to find that ONE which does what I need. I have finally found Aunt Jackies and I'm thrilled. It is the holy grail! I have moisturized curls that pop, no dryness or flakiness, and the curls last for DAYS with minimal fuss. For daily maintenance, I just fill a spray bottle with water, jojoba oil and Aunt Jackies leave-in and spritz that mixture to refresh my curls. Best of all, the entire regimen isn't a sticker shock to my wallet yet contains all the good, clean ingredients more pricy natural gels have. The key is to make sure your hair is wet through every strand, but not sopping wet or it will take hours to dry!! I found running fingers through hair whilst wet, letting dry naturally until a bit crispy! And then blow drying hot, preferably with diffuser and lightly scrunchin to soften the curls so it doesn't look like you have product on, just drying very quickly not messing too much with hair and voila, the perfect spiral curls. It has a lovely coconut smell and unlike other mousses etc it hasn't left me with sore scalp or rash on my back even after a whole week of wearing. After years of spending a fortune on hundreds of different products, for my naturally tight curly (prone to frizz) hair (almost afro), I have finally found THE PERFECT STYLING PRODUCT!!! I use this contrary to instructions on dry hair after a combination of air drying then lightly drying at the roots with a hairdryer. This is the best product I have found for my hair. My hair is naturally curly and frizzy if left to dry without any product. This product goes onto wet hair, best straight after washing (don’t towel dry first) you only need a small bit of product on each section and twist. Best results are if hair is left to dry naturally but you can diffuse too.Kb

I tried the Alaffia curl gel for wavy/curly hair first and it didn't have a strong enough hold to define my curls, so I tried this curl custard next. This one left a MUCH stronger and crispier cast on my hair, which was fairly easy to scrunch out. On my first attempt, I really coated all of my hair with the gel. On my second, I tried using less and I liked the results better. My curls were lighter and bouncier but the strong hold was mostly still there. Both of the Alaffia gels are super slippery and easy to spread throughout my hair, which is the best feature in my opinion!iHerb Customer
I was really hoping to like this product as it seemed explicitly aimed at curly hair. However, after using it for a week I was really underwhelmmed. Sure, it's better than most products out there but not by much. The product is very sticky and doesn't seem to have much of a hold. Instead, the gooeyness just dries on your hair leaving it dry and frizzy. I get they are trying a more natural product but that doesn't change that its ineffective. I've used other natural products that use beeswax, clay, and moisturizing oils and butters that both leave my hair feeling tamed AND moisturized. I will not be buying this again.Ivan M.
I've spent YEARS trying to find a way to enjoy my curly hair long…but always end up braiding it or putting it in a bun then chopping it because of the amount of products I waste on it. I just started using this, and for my thick frizzy 2C 3A curls I am SHOCKED. I have soft lightweight ringlets without much frizz, not too much volume (too much weight, heavy volume, and frizz are my usual issues). I was literally just about to chop 4 inches next week and now that I've had 3 successful uses with a modest amount of this product (not nearly as much as I usually use with other hair styling products) I am going to keep my hair long for awhile. Works decent. It’s a bit heavy to work in the hair and you have to use quite a bit to define each area. The areas not fully saturated will be frizzy. Won’t be running fingers thru the hair because it dries in place the way a hell would. It’s not as heavy and isn’t crunchy as a gel. Use a diffuser and use ample product in pieces or sections if your hair is thick or very curly. Clean defined curls are the result. My hair is waist length and I needed to use 2/10 of the bottle for my entire head. Im guessing that i can finish the bottle in 5-6 uses at best. You’ll need to wet and reapply to second day hair so I recommend a silk cap to maintain the curls and not to sleep directly on them.hano.b
This stuff is amazing. I had to figure out the best way to use it for wavy curls (2b-3b on the curl type chart). I have tailbone length hair that is mostly long stretched spirals. I used about a half dollar sized amount for my whole head, scrunching it into wet hair in the shower, using the water in my hair to distribute it evenly. I then put it in a microfiber towel to get out excess water and then put it in a secondary dry one, making sure my ends went in first to further support curl formation without the weight on them. The total towel time was 45 minutes or so. When I took it down I had spirals already forming on the ends and my ends usually do not curl. I scrunched in some Tresemme mousse for hold and diffused. I have big chunky fat spirals which I love. Apparently this cream gets moisture into my hair which is hard to do, as it's low porosity. I think this is meant for tighter curl types but it works well for me. Pictures were taken minutes apart but my camera does weird things with lighting. Please excuse that. I can't believe this was around $6 for a good sized jar and the curl cream I bought for about a dollar an ounce didn't do anything for curl formation.Spirals
I went natural 5 yrs ago. I have a bin of unused products that failed to live up to their advertising. I have "4c" hair. I'm 63 yrs old and I was ready to cut it all off out of frustration. I was at my neighborhood hair store and the sales lady recommend CURL LA LA . I thought why not. My hair loves CURL LA LA . After washing and conditioning I applied CLL to my towel dried hair and immediately curls and waves are popping. I used a denman brush. I set my hair on hard medium rollers and air dried overnight. Next day my hair was soft curly and moisturized. Beautiful curly fro that I put into a big puff using a head band . I'm sooooo happy I finally found something that works for me !!
