Best Dyson For Animal Hair (2024 Update)

Our old vac. died and my husband has always wanted an upright vacuum cleaner. As he is the one who does most of the vacuuming I told him to buy whatever he wanted. We have always wanted to try a Dyson but the price was always too expensive. Myer had this one on a good special so we got it. We have 2 long haired big dogs who come inside regularly and of course leave fur behind on the carpet. We have carpet all through our house with tiles mainly in the wet areas. The vacuum cleaner is heavy but my husband finds it is not much harder to push than the old barrel vac. because of the powerful head. The suction is excellent and seems to suck up so much more dirt and fur than the old one. The power head is quite wide and does not easily get into some of the narrower spaces the old vac did. It has a very long power cord which is great but I do miss the an auto rewind feature. Moving from hard floors to carpet is no problem. This vac. does not have adjustable suction so on more delicate mats it is harder to use. A flexible extension hose is attached to the upright handle along with different floor tool attachments. It is able to be used for those more difficult to get to places. I found the flexible hose very strong and not particularly flexible, and tended to pull the vacuum over if used too roughly. This is my least liked part of the Dyson. The canister is fairly easy to empty though the dust does tend to cling inside due to static electricity and needs a strong shake/tap or something put into the canister to help dislodge all the dust. Time will tell as to its reliability.DebWy

I absolutely love this vacuum. The ONLY reason I gave 4 stars is because it’s heavy. I’ve had it for 10 years I feel like. This poor thing has been through the ringer and used for many things (some things I probably should’ve used a shop vac for 🤷🏼‍♀️)but has performed so well. I’ve YouTube’s and taken apart before to fix clogs and different things and I have to say it’s easy to work on. I just got it serviced for the first time ever and it was well overdue. This vacuum is by far the best vacuum I've ever owned. My boyfriend and I purchased this before we moved into a new apartment (ALL CARPET) back in May 2015. Our Kitty before moving was an outdoor cat and had to transition to being an indoor cat when we moved into our new place. The combination of our 1100 square foot apt and our now indoor cat caused quite a lot of dust/hair/dirt. I am very allergic to cats so this was quite the dilemma for me. Thankfully this vacuum does an amazing job at sucking up cat hair/dander/dust/dirt and sometimes even things you don't necessarily want to vacuum up. My vacuum and I were doing great once a week vacuuming up everything I desired…until it wasn't… The wand you use to vacuum stuff up has a few different attachments depending on what task is at hand. My task last August was to vacuum up all the excess cat litter/lint in our combo bathroom/cat bathroom/laundry room. All was going well until I stuck the wand in between the wall and the side of the dryer trying to make sure I got every piece of lint hair etc. All of a sudden I hear a noise where I could tell I vacuumed something bad up there and could tell the suction was being impaired.. Somehow I vacuumed a mini sized BIC lighter that got wedged in the middle of the vacuum wand. I literally tried every way I could think of to try to push it out. I tried sticking a long dowel down the tube to try to push it out which only broke my wooden dowel.. then I tried to lubricate it with some water/oil which also didn't work. Finally after two weeks of attempting to dislodge the lighter I broke down and bought a $20 replacement off Amazon and then proceeded to snap the busted lighter stuck in it one in half (took a number of attempts so clearly this is some well made plastic)molly.p

First, the positive: Initially, this was a great purchase. Powerful and lasts for long enough for most jobs, and that's still the case after 3 years. Now the negative: Since about 6 months ago, when starting use after it's been on charge for easily sufficient time to fully charge, it cuts out within about 20 seconds, plug it in for 30 seconds, it works for 20 seconds, plug it in for 30 seconds, it works for 20 seconds, plug in again and it then usually works for some 6 minutes on full power. This is simply a defective unit as the battery is clearly still holding the charge. Wouldn't rush to buy a Dyson again.RobS53

We had a precious model DC34 which served us well until the motor died. We also have a V10 and a Miele plug in for the bigger jobs, and wanted to replace the hand held This gets regular light use .Despite emptying after every use and washing the filter it started pulsing.My wife and I have just spent a quite few hours cleaning the machine.the filter was totally clogged inside and more importantly the interior, inside the shiny perforated cylindrical right up to the cyclones was full of debris /clogged . Dyson , can you put an official video up how to clean it please . The old Hand held DC34 was a simpler and effective design and never clogged up like this one .Padraic

Bought this to do small pickups after a sweep of the floor, and to clean the car. It's proven handy when doing a bit of DIY around the house, where you can immediately pickup any small debris left from drilling etc. For very quick jobs it's good, but the "standard" power mode is a bit of a joke as it can barely pick up dust let-alone bigger objects like spilled cereal and a bit of dirt. Max power has some decent suction and, with the motorised tool, makes short work of cleaning rugs and carpets, but this only last for around 6 minutes, so again is only good for quick jobs. Like other reviewers, I also had the intermittent power issue, but after following the support video step by step, it started working again – I had cleaned everything else before following the steps, but didn't know about the easy to remove and clean filter. Generally, I find it quite easy to clean and put back together, actually much easier than the dyson cylinder vac (where I have to pull the bin apart to get out the hair). I am a bit torn on this machine, I do like a dyson, and I end up using the handheld on average twice a day, but it could just be a bit better. Given that it is a similar price to the cylinder vac, I was expecting a bit more. A killer feature would be the ability to run it while plugged in – I know this defeats the purpose of the "cordless" handheld, but running out of power when you only have a couple of minutes to go is quite infuriating. Love my Dyson canister. I bought the canister on Black Friday a couple of years ago. It was only $99. I’m sure those days are over buying stuff that cheap. The extra attachments came with my canister. This vacuum suction power is the best I’ve seen. The cord is extremely long so you don’t have to keep moving to another outlet. I even use the vacuum to dust. That’s how good it sucks. Since getting this, I’m a Dyson customer for now on. I have recommend Dyson to so many people. My daughter is constantly borrowing mine, because she loves it.frances.h

I can not tell you how much I love this vacuum. I own a cleaning company and this vacuum is light weight. Easy to use. Long cord. It does not have a traditional Motor head as the turbine inside spins from the suction. This thing has so many different attachments that you’ll find so many places to clean with it. It’s easy to empty. I do recommend purchasing an addition filter. Especially if you plan to use this daily. It’s easy to disassemble too so it stores very compact. The suction on this puppy is crazy. First, the good: Extremely light and easy to maneuver. Great suction and good tools that are easy to change. The power brushes do a great job on our old, worn-out carpet, making it look much better, particularly on the stairs. The cord always rewinds fully, but without smacking you with the plug. The not-so-good: The canister is fairly easy to detach and reattach to the main body, but emptying it is a bit more messy than some others I have used. Since the bottom of the canister is like a bowl, you have to make sure it completely empties. A little easier said than done. Not horrible, but could be better. Also, it would be wonderful if the tall wand and carpet brush combo would stand up on their own. I do like that it can be rested on the back of the motor, though. Overall, a great value and excellent performer. I thoroughly vacuumed a section of carpet with my old unit (which is not all that old!), and then used the Dyson. OMG! I didn't think it was possible, but I've fallen in love with a vacuum. Tried cordless before and dissatisfied with suction, battery life, etc. This model came with all the attachments I could possibly use. Suction is fantastic for any vacuum, let alone a cordless. Keeps a charge long enough to vacuum whole house. Works great on all the area rugs, hardwoods and tile floors. Super easy to empty the canister too. Very easy to change attachments for upholstery, curtains, beds, walls, whatever. It can maneuver into almost any space. I have multiple pets and this baby can handle all their messes. I really loved this vacuum until the motor broke after only one year. I guess that’s what happens when you purchase a refurbished item vs a brand new one. The overall vacuum is great. The canister holds a lot before you need to empty it, and it truly lives up to being a “pet vacuum.” I have a husky and it was able to handle all of his fur. Perfect for vacuuming hardwood floors, as well as area rugs and dog beds. Definitely just purchase a brand new one instead of refurbished!Danni

If you want to switch back and forth between attachments and vacuum, you have to hold the attachment hose/wand and the cord in one hand, and the vacuum in the other. There should be some kind of latch to hold the hose when switching, but there isn't. Speaking of the hose, you don't want to get your fingers caught after stretching it because it really hurts. You have to be extra careful to get the vacuum to to click in the upright position, often needing several attempts, or risk dinging your walls when it falls. For the price of the vacuum, Dyson should definitely have a retractable cord. Using the attachment hose requires removing the hook that holds the cord, so it will be completely unrolled (even if you only need a few feet), leaving you with a 20' cord that can and does easily end up tripping you. This vacuum has great suction, but if you're expecting your vacuum to last more than 2 to 3 years then don't buy this because it is made from cheap plastics. I've had this vacuum for just over 2 1/2 years and thought it was really great. I use it for about 2 hours per week, so less than 300 hours of total use time. Just noticed this week the whole lower duct assembly has cracked rendering the vacuum completely unusable. This cracking has occurred due to the step in the owner's manual showing you have to bend the vacuum forward in order to get it to lock into the upright position. This forward bending motion puts a lot of stress on the cheaply made plastic connection near the ball. I don't care if Dyson said it is made from the same material in riot gear, and tested for 50,000 hours. It's a poorly designed part subjected to a lot of stress when attempting to lock the vacuum in the upright position. I have contacted Dyson and they are sending me a part to fix the vacuum, but if it's the same cheap junk, I can see it breaking again in another 2 to 3 years. I expect a vacuum cleaner to last a lot longer than 2 years, given the price paid for a Dyson. Dyson really needs to step up and make these parts that are subjected to stresses much more robust. Even when new the handle part of the vacuum seems rather flimsy. I will not be recommending to anyone to purchase a Dyson. Save your money and look elsewhere.StevenTN

I have been a lifelong user of Dyson vacuums from the very earliest days. I have always thought that they are the best. Sad to say that after 2 years of use I cannot say that about the Animal 2. Just for the record we also have the Dyson V6 Animal which my wife uses because of her Rheumatoid Arthritis. Once a week I will do the heavy duty, top to bottom house clean with the Animal 2. And I don't look forward to it at all. First of all the positives: 1. Fantastic suction 2. I use all of the heads that can be attached to the hose and are excellent for getting into the difficult spots. The negatives: 1. This is a heavy machine. Now I keep myself fit but you get a workout from this machine. Because it is heavy it is not the most manoeuvrable. Somebody like my wife who has RA can forget about using this for more than a minute or two. 2. When using it with the hose when the accessories are attached, the machine does not follow easily and more often than not tips over. It is shocking for doing that. I wouldn't even contemplate using it for the stairs. 3. The hose may be lighter than previous models but honestly does not feel as robust. But so far it has stood two years worth of use. 4. The power cable is sadly far inferior to previous models. It is of cheaper quality and easily gets entangled around the wheels of the vacuum when using the hose and even when using it without the hose. It may be a longer hose (I think) but it gets tangled so easily. All in all, this is one of the worst Dyson's we have had.Andy

This is the best deal on market. Although it costs around $290 you will still win and save a lot of money without sacrificing the quality. It comes with 5 year parts and labor warranty. It's suction power is probably the best than any other vacuum cleaner in the world. It 's the best in US and UK. It is also the fastest cleaner since it's suction power is the best. Also comes with different toolkit for various types of clean. Carpet, wooden floor, car in the garage etc. So, the bottom line is if you have the $300 budget, go for this one. I thought the old vacuum cleaner was doing a good job, but the first use of the Dyson proved me wrong! It pulled up more stuff than I thought possible. I have heard about the Dyson ball for years, but had no idea that it really would make maneuvering easier. Since we have mostly hard surface travertine floors with several large area rugs, I like that there is an easily accessible switch to turn the beater bar off for vacuuming off the rugs without worrying about scratching the stone floor. The Dyson was delivered quickly, it was well packed and arrived in perfect condition all at a Sam's Club price. The only regret I have is that I waited so long to switch to the Dyson.KenLV

I have a total of 4 Dyson vacuums. Unfortunately I purchased 2 of these before I found out how inferior they are compared to the old ones that I have. I really do not like these ball units. If you try to wheel the unit to where you want to start vacuuming, the lock disengages and the head drops to the floor making it hard to get to your location. It is not just a defective one as both of my units do this. VERY frustrating. Then, when done vacuuming, it is really hard to lock back into the upright position. I feel I wasted my money on these 2. The price point at Sam's seemed like a good price, but really, it is not. Will NEVER get another one of these. Very disappointed with DysonAnn

Purchased Hoover – 6 weeks ago Good points – delivered quickly, well packaged, looks solid, quite a few accessories, Looks and feel nice. Bad points ,way to heavy to pick up and move around as many have said before. Takes to long to charge, digital displays are just a gimmick and just add to the cost and running of the machine. The wall bracket is made from cheap plastic and feels like it’s going to break when slotting in and taking out the heavy hoover. Bracket looks very cheap for a premium product at the high end of the price bracket.. The Battery occasionally stops / starts for no reason – don’t know if this is a design feature to save on battery life – although I doubt it – very disappointing. Final thoughts – Disappointed!! – although I have bought Dyson hoovers in the past and been happy with them — i would find it hard to recommend this product for the reasons mentioned above, I had hoped for better. The hoover does not feel as if it’s any more powerful than previous models I’ve had before, it doesn’t live up to the Hype. I really wanted to love this vacuum. I was excited to receive it, but that excitement was short lived, much like the battery life. I charged the battery to full power, and started cleaning the couch. All was going well as it seem to be getting a lot of dust and dirt out of the cushions. 3 cushions in and the battery died. I charged it again and tried the floors. It seems to have good suction power, but does kick back a bunch of dirt. If you have the space and the money and want a high end “dust buster” then go for it. If you’re looking for something to clean your couch cushions or mattress like they showed on air, then keep looking. Unless you enjoy taking ALL day to do your chores and stopping every 15 mins to recharge the battery.JennyK1234

Just got this today. I have a 3 bedroom home that’s carpeted with the exception of kitchen and bathrooms. House was just cleaned two days ago. First, I did all floor surfaces in less then 30 minutes. Amazed at how much stuff it picked up. I didn’t realize there was a trigger you hold while using it. It’s so much easier then flipping a power on and off switch every time you stop or move things. I will also note battery came partially charged and I did not charge prior to using (I was too excited to try it.) no issues with how long this lasted or power in general. Love all the tools! This is a game changer for me. Also, this is so light weight and that makes it so much easier to move around with it. This is my favorite new toy! If you’ve never used a battery powered stick vacuum, you’re working too hard. The Dyson V7 Advanced Origin vacuum Is one of the lightest vacuums I have used. Easy to maneuver around furniture and items with a flick of the wrist and with its thin beater bar, it fits under furniture with ease. The battery provides about 30 minutes of vacuuming. At first, I thought this may not be enough considering how much time I used to spend vacuuming. But it turns out once you eliminate the time spent plugging and unplugging the vacuum, minding the cord so it doesn’t get stuck or knock something over, or moving things to vacuum around or under them, I found I could vacuum the house much faster than I ever could before with much less effort. Not that I have much battery left, it’s just about all used up. I do feel a bit of “Range Anxiety” having just one fixed battery and do rush more. A replaceable battery pack as used on cordless drills and other tools would be a welcome addition. This Dyson comes with a combination tool, the wand/pipe, and a de-tangling motor bar cleaner head. with hair removal vanes that clear long hair and pet hair from the brush bar. The motor bar cleaner head seems to work, no hair or strings got wrapped around the beater brush. Be aware that this model comes with just what is listed in the product description, the combination tool attachment. There is no crevice or other attachments which used to be standard. Nor is there a wall mounted charging dock. If you know you will need the attachments, you should look at other Dyson models that include them or purchase them separately. Not a problem for me replacing a well-used Dyson vacuum that came with the attachments which are all still in excellent condition. Not including the attachments keeps the older ones that are in good shape from going into the landfill and should help keep the price down. This seems to align with the packaging which was all fully recyclable cardboard. No foam, plastic or other environmentally bad packing material was used. Replace the wand with the combination tool and you have a very powerful hand-held vacuum to clean furniture, drapes, the car, or whatever you need one for. The normal/low power setting seems perfectly adequate for hard wood floors and low pile carpet. The High-power mode adds a very noticeable increase in vacuum power and noise. Nice to have when you need it, but I found I rarely did. The Dyson is a well-made vacuum. Very nimble and powerful. Everything fits and functions exceptionally well, which is what I have come to expect of the brand.MrBill250

Up to now we have been very happy with our v10 – great performance and useability. But after 18 months two niggly problems have surfaced as a result of the failure of small plastic pieces that are not sold as replacement parts – you have to replace the whole assembly. 1. The red plastic button that attaches the wand to the body has broken and falls off. 2. The red plastic clip that is supposed to stop the bin sliding off the body has worn away, so that the bin comes off every time you just want to empty it. Both are small plastic pieces that are clearly separate to the main components and should be replaceable – but they are not. I was quoted £121 to replace the wand and the body – that is both extortionate pricing and a total waste of the other parts that are duplicated when you buy the spares. Dyson should do better to support customers and the environment. I will also say that we have a still working V6 (nothing gone wrong) and an old DC04 which has had many parts replaced over its' long life, but it still runs fine and was cheap/easy to fix. I guess that says that they are not built like they used to be. Oh and one more thing – the flexible hose for the V10 also fell apart after a year!Disappointed

I have always been huge Dyson fan as I find their products work well and stand the test of time. This cordless vac reminds me of the one I originally purchased nearly 10 years ago. It is nimble and very well balanced. On a fully charged battery, I have been able to spot clean multiple rooms, multiple times (hard floors with a few small rugs). I have used other cordless vacuums and find them to be unevenly weighted compared to the Dyson. The body of this is somewhat heavy for its sized, but the grip, and overall design are very ergonomic and I feel it conforms to the movement of my hand and wrist seamlessly. This makes the weight less of a concern, which is a factor for me as it determines whether I can effectively use a product or not. I personally wish that the on/off was a switch rather than a sqeeze trigger and that the option for max power was a push button thumb trigger rather than sliding switch on top of the body. Also of note, this model does not include any kind of wall mount kit for storage/charging, where my previous model did. I do find the model to be a bit noisy especially on MAX mode, but it is not intolerable. The beater bar does great job picking up hair without tangling.ArmadaJim

Like the title says, this vac is great for small jobs and touch ups. Don't expect this to be your primary vac for a full-sized house. First, the battery won't last that long (even on normal not MAX). Second, since all of the weight is at the handle, it gets hard on your wrist pretty quickly. My last recommendation is to make sure that you empty the dust bin OUTSIDE. It's hard to empty without dust flying all over the place. If there's long hair inside, you're going to have to stick your fingers or something in the dust bin to get it to come out…messy. Recommended when it's on sale.M

Dyson's V8 Origin Vacuum is an awesome vacuum to have . Upon opening my Dyson the instructions were clear, easy to read & understand. Assembly of the Dyson was very easy a few clicks ( slide piece into corresponding piece & they click together) & everything is good to go. You plug cord into outlet & the top of the Dyson. Let it charge for about an hour & you're good to vacuum. You can not vacuum while plugged in, kinda the purpose of a cordless vacuum BUT A charge last roughly 30-45 minutes ( pretty good, definitely a plus) depending how you use it ( whether it's a powerful ( max) or less powerful). Whether you are using max or not it picks up everything. Powerful gets all the dirt & grime out of your rugs or plain floors, I use the less max for bathroom & kitchen rugs, it gets the dirt out but won't suck up your rug up, I love that. The vacuum comes with an attachment that is easily changed, simply click button to dislodge the bottom vacuum & add attachment with a click. That attachment has 2 uses with or without brissles ( brush like) great for getting ceiling or woodwork dust. Dyson V8 Origin Vacuum is a lightweight vacuum and is very easy to maneuver especially in tight spots, gets under couches, chairs & tables with ease. The dirt chamber is clear & and you can see when it needs to be emptied. To empty the dirt chamber you lift up the lever to about 3 clicks & bottom of chamber emptied the dirt. Everything is clearly noted & easy to use. When vacuuming, in order to vacuum which may be a pro or con depending on your liking, you do need to continue to hold the button to vacuum, once you let go it stops. That also could be very useful such as if you suck something up that you're not supposed to just let go and it stops. The filter section can be washed out. I also love that the vacuum itself ( bottom) that sucks everything up has a clear covering that shows if you have hair that needs to be removed & that area is wide enough to be able to get anything out if needed to be. The vacuum swivels greatly to get all areas. I absolutely love Dyson V8 Origin Vacuum makes cleaning a breeze & life a little easier. My old Dyson DC16 recently died and I was frantic to find a similar replacement. I was just looking for a cordless handheld to quickly vacuum up small areas or spot clean. I saw this V8 cordless Motorhead looked almost identical to my deceased Dyson and an extra perk was that it had a detachable wand so I wouldn't have to bend down/stretch for those hard to reach places. It was $100 off so I ordered it. Straight out of the box, it was heavy. My arm was instantly tired after trying to use it above my head. Multiple issues: The air powerful air coming out of the exhaust vents blows debris everywhere. My small contained mess was now scattered everywhere! The direct driver power head has a plastic guide on the front. This makes it impossible to suck up anything that is larger than that clearance space. I have a parrot that drops sunflower seed shells and Cheerio cereal on the floor and this Dyson just pushes them in front of the vacuum. No room for them to be picked up because of that guide. Strike 3 for me was emptying the dust container. You have to pull hard upward to lift the head off the vacuum which then triggers the dust container bottom to swing open. This did not work easily or smoothly at all. Basically, I had to use two hands to both pry the top part up while pulling the bottom flap down to empty. If it were just one small flaw, I'd get over it but this isn't an inexpensive vacuum! I am beyond disappointed and now I have to drag it back to the Club for a refund.TMc

The V7 is my first Dyson, and I am both highly impressed and highly disappointed – if that's possible. It has great suction and works far better than I expected on carpet. I expected it to be great on our hard floors but not have the power required to do a decent job on carpet, but I was pleasantly surprised! But wow is it disappointing on hard floors! It picks up very small debris brilliantly, but anything bigger than dust is likely to be flicked all over the floor by its rotating motorised head. Dyson do not make a hard floor tool for the V7, but fortunately, V8 attachments fit the V7. So if you can get your hands on the Soft Roller Head from the V8, you'll be happy. I contacted Dyson and they were very understanding (after some firm words) and sold me a V8 Soft Roller Head for $130. Might have been better getting the V8… All of that said, I very rarely use my corded vacuum now, and will absolutely be buying another Dyson whenever this one meets its end!skinninmckinnon

I'm so pleased with my new vacuum cleaner. I've had two other brands before it so my expectations were pretty average. Well surprise surprise. For a stick, battery-operated vacuum cleaner, this is better than the one I haul around the floor. It's efficient and fun to use. 1. It attaches to the wall so doesn't get dusty or take up floor-space 2. It's easy to disconnect from the wall-fitting and the attachments attach and detach like a dream. I promise you, you'll play with them for a while! 3. It vacuums up stuff off surfaces and from awkward places that I have taken for granted needed extra cleaning by hand. 4. The 'maxi-suck' setting (my word, not theirs) lifts my mother's ancient threadbare carpet off the floor, so I imagine it would have little trouble cleaning a deep-pile new carpet (I quickly learnt to use the low-suck). I was having so much fun that I took the vacuum cleaner out onto the balcony to vacuum the artificial grass. That was a hoot. I pretended I was mowing the lawn, and it looked as though I had! So neat. 5. Emptying the thing is a breeze. I assumed it would be difficult (I don't read instructions) so put off the deed until the leaves off the 'lawn' made me feel I ought, before the chamber go too full. Don't expect it to be complicated . . . it's really easy to empty! And so satisfying to see all that stuff tumble into the bin! Truly, you are going to have fun with this thing! I'm hoping it remains a 5 star. Only had it a month. I still have my original Dyson DC07 – have had it for 15 years and it still works great. I have pets in the house and back problems, so dragging out the big upright everyday as become too much, so I don't vacuum as often as I would like. I LOVE THIS CORDLESS! 5lbs with the floor brush and wand. I'm still getting used to the limited use time 6 – 20minutes, but my house is small. I am able to use the cordless and floor attachment on hard floors and touch up on carpets. I will still used the upright now and then for a good deep clean of my carpets. I love using the cordless for dusting! The short soft brush attachment is great for getting into tight places, funny surfaces, hard to reach places. I generally use it on the maximum suction, which cuts down on use time – only about 6 minutes, but is most efficient. Getting used to a routine, maneuvering the head (love the swivel floor attachment). The canister emptying is great. I don't have to reach in to loosen a wad of dog hair since the prefilter gets wiped off when you open the canister to dump. I watched a YouTube video which made it so easy to set mine up and get to work. A bit inconvenient that I have to let the head cool down before putting it back on the charger. The instructions say to do that to prolong the life of the battery, so I do that. I usually leave the head somewhere in my way so I remember to put it back on the charger. 3.5 hours charging time for 6-20 minutes of use is a bit inconvenient, but I am so glad not to be wrestling power cord and hose and lugging the upright in and out of storage, tripping over cord, cord getting stuck under a door or on furniture. Who really wants to vacuum for longer than 6 – 20 minutes anyway. Now if I have a bigger cleaning I want to do, I'll do the main hard floors at night, let the head charge over night, and it's ready to go in the morning for a bit more. I would never give up my full size upright Dyson – because it is so faithful and best for carpeting, plus will be good for any deep cleans that take a while longer. My parents own the Animal+ and I recently bought the Absolute+ which both have the same motorhead so was already aware of the capabilities. I did have a faulty battery upon receiving my vacuum which was quickly resolved & a new battery was sent my way immediately. I think this is really a great one for carpet & hardwood floors (with the hard & soft brushes) and also nice for the sofa in the handheld smaller configuration.Akash

Our old vac. died and my husband has always wanted an upright vacuum cleaner. As he is the one who does most of the vacuuming I told him to buy whatever he wanted. We have always wanted to try a Dyson but the price was always too expensive. Myer had this one on a good special so we got it. We have 2 long haired big dogs who come inside regularly and of course leave fur behind on the carpet. We have carpet all through our house with tiles mainly in the wet areas. The vacuum cleaner is heavy but my husband finds it is not much harder to push than the old barrel vac. because of the powerful head. The suction is excellent and seems to suck up so much more dirt and fur than the old one. The power head is quite wide and does not easily get into some of the narrower spaces the old vac did. It has a very long power cord which is great but I do miss the an auto rewind feature. Moving from hard floors to carpet is no problem. This vac. does not have adjustable suction so on more delicate mats it is harder to use. A flexible extension hose is attached to the upright handle along with different floor tool attachments. It is able to be used for those more difficult to get to places. I found the flexible hose very strong and not particularly flexible, and tended to pull the vacuum over if used too roughly. This is my least liked part of the Dyson. The canister is fairly easy to empty though the dust does tend to cling inside due to static electricity and needs a strong shake/tap or something put into the canister to help dislodge all the dust. Time will tell as to its reliability.DebWy

I absolutely love this vacuum. The ONLY reason I gave 4 stars is because it’s heavy. I’ve had it for 10 years I feel like. This poor thing has been through the ringer and used for many things (some things I probably should’ve used a shop vac for 🤷🏼‍♀️)but has performed so well. This vacuum is by far the best vacuum I've ever owned. My boyfriend and I purchased this before we moved into a new apartment (ALL CARPET) back in May 2015. Our Kitty before moving was an outdoor cat and had to transition to being an indoor cat when we moved into our new place. The combination of our 1100 square foot apt and our now indoor cat caused quite a lot of dust/hair/dirt. I am very allergic to cats so this was quite the dilemma for me. Thankfully this vacuum does an amazing job at sucking up cat hair/dander/dust/dirt and sometimes even things you don't necessarily want to vacuum up. My vacuum and I were doing great once a week vacuuming up everything I desired…until it wasn't… The wand you use to vacuum stuff up has a few different attachments depending on what task is at hand. My task last August was to vacuum up all the excess cat litter/lint in our combo bathroom/cat bathroom/laundry room. All was going well until I stuck the wand in between the wall and the side of the dryer trying to make sure I got every piece of lint hair etc. All of a sudden I hear a noise where I could tell I vacuumed something bad up there and could tell the suction was being impaired.. Somehow I vacuumed a mini sized BIC lighter that got wedged in the middle of the vacuum wand. I literally tried every way I could think of to try to push it out. I tried sticking a long dowel down the tube to try to push it out which only broke my wooden dowel.. then I tried to lubricate it with some water/oil which also didn't work. Finally after two weeks of attempting to dislodge the lighter I broke down and bought a $20 replacement off Amazon and then proceeded to snap the busted lighter stuck in it one in half (took a number of attempts so clearly this is some well made plastic)molly.p

I just moved into a new apartment and have saved up for this Dyson and it was the best decision I have made. My new place is a 2 bed/2 bath apartment with mostly hard floors and carpets in the bedroom. After going to Dyson’s website and taking their quiz. First, I have to suggest going through Dyson’s website to purchase and not through a 3rd party (Amazon, Target, etc). Dyson offers a price match, you are ensured a warranty, if you wish to get additional attachments, you can know you are getting the correct ones. Next, after know about what model and price point I needed, I was able to look at each machine and pick out the best that would work for me, my cleaning routine, and my home. My Dyson came with so many different attachments (included!!!) but the reason I chose this one was it had different heads for one for each type of flooring, carpet or hard floors. I can remove the wand to make the attachments handheld to clean my couch, add it and a soft bristle head to clean the walls and the top corners next to my ceiling. I could go on and on. This isn’t a vacuum… this has replaced so many different tools I used to clean and, above all, my favorite part, as new apartments can come some lingering bugs, I take the head off and can stay far enough away and still catch and dump the creepy-crawlies. It is my new bug killing machine. As I said, I could write a novel about how much I love this Dyson. It was worth every penny.heather.n

I got a V7 in Jan 2019. Initially, and for about 1.5 yrs., I thoroughly enjoyed it. Then my housecleaner told me a charge didn't last more than 10 mins. Because I have another plug-in vacuum, I didn't think much of it at the time. Then I hired another cleaner. She brought her own vacuum so it hasn't been used at all since Jan 2022. Just in the last week, I tried to use it and it only lasted about 30 seconds. I had a very good experience with the website and service person on the phone but I have been advised that a new battery is necessary. If that is correct, I must say that I am disappointed in Dyson. I expected better performance from their machine. For a machine that is 3 1/2 yrs. old and only used perhaps 2 years of that (and not solely because I have another machine), I think the battery should last longer. And, if the cost of the battery is 1/4 of the price of the machine, I think that is even more disappointing. And, it's the cost of the battery + shipping. My carpenter husband has battery powered tools, uses them consistently and has never had to replace a battery. That knowledge doesn't help me. Is it possible that the charging station is defective? At any rate, as much as I loved it in the beginning, I'm pretty unhappy at present. I recommended my vacuum to lots of friends at first but now, I would have to tell them the whole story and what to expect.Bren

The Dyson airwrap is expensive for a hair styling product direct to consumer. But don't expect Dyson's customer support to be of any assistance that you would expect when it comes to expertise of hair styling products. I was really excited to purchase and use the Dyson airwrap. There is definitely a learning curve, especially when using the curler attachments. Why ? The instructions provided on the Dyson website , and Dyson videos say to use the attachment arrows facing away from the face. However, if you were to use this guidance, it actually curls your hair inwards not outwards. This makes a huge difference when you're trying to style your hair. After researching through reviews and blogs turns out the arrow has to face away from the face when looking at the mirror. Kind of counterintuitive, but due to the opposite effect of reflective surfaces it means you need the attachment that points toward your face ( because in the mirror it ponts away from the face ) I wanted clarification from Dyson to understand if there was an issue with my purchase or if the instructions are to be followed when looking at a reflective surface. Dyson support was of no help, it was evident that they did not understand the issue, did not understand the difference between inward/outward curls and they did not know how to use the products themselves. They do not listen, and their only assistance is to continue to send Dyson instructional videos that do not clarify this matter. In the future, I would be purchasing hair styling tools from companies that focus solely on hair products. As they would be able to better offer their expertise.Vleung

I truly thought this would be another product I would find to be overrated hype and I couldn’t have been more wrong. After seeing several friends raving about it online, I finally decided to give it a shot and purchased this set about 6 months ago. I have been absolutely THRILLED with it. I was most interested in smoothing, as I’d recently tried a Brazilian Blowout and was quite underwhelmed and even worse I lost a LOT of hair. I absolutely love the Dyson Airwrap smoothing brush for everyday use. It makes it quick and easy to get perfectly smooth hair. I have to admit that the curling attachments are so amazing and easy to use that I find myself styling with those frequently just for fun. I can’t round brush my own long hair to save my life, but the Airwrap can give me the look of a salon visit with ease. Save yourself the time, and money, of going in for professional blowouts with this at your fingertips. Styling takes a fraction of the previous effort for a result that’s professional level. Overall this product has been a game changer for me. I got lazy about doing my hair when I was working from home during covid. Ever since then I just haven't really been styling it or even drying it, I was just rocking my natural air-dried hair. There's nothing wrong with that, BUT I realized recently that I've been lazy with my hair and decided it was time to level up my hair game. I hadn't bought any new hair tools in probably at least 6 years. I started looking into the dyson airwrap and knew that's what I wanted. It was out of stock forEVER. I kept watching and waiting, and finally snagged one when the new version came to my local Ulta store. If you can swing it, get it! I bought my airwrap using points I had saved up for almost a year. With the new points I got from that purchase, I bought a bunch of new styling products and paid next to nothing for them. Don't listen to the bad/mixed reviews. There is a learning curve with the airwrap. It works differently than other styling tools. It takes a while for you to get the hang of the technique, and what works or doesn't work specifically with your hair type. I read a lot of reviews that said the curls didn't hold. You have to use good styling products!! I can't stress this enough. If you're slapping in some suave gel and expecting your style to last 24+ hours it's just not gonna happen. Ok that being said, now I can talk about why I love it. The airwrap dries my hair super fast. I had an old CHI hairdryer w/1875 watts or whatever and it took 30 minutes to dry my long but thin hair. The airwrap dries my hair in probably less than 10 minutes using the soft smoothing brush. If I'm doing a blowout with the round brush it takes a bit longer, about 20-25 minutes, because I do that in smaller sections and take the time to set each section with the cool shot. The curling barrels are amazing. I love that you can curl your hair while it's still damp and skip that step of fully drying your hair first. The autowrap is probably the best part. Wrapping my hair is what I always hated about traditional curling wands and irons. It takes me about 35-40 minutes to do a full head of curls. Let me not forget to mention that the curling barrels don't get hot. You can literally touch them without burning yourself. So say goodbye to embarrassing curler burns on your forehead! If you take the time to master the proper technique, and use quality styling products with it, you will absolutely love this tool.Orchid

Obsessed! …was exposed to this tool by my Ulta color stylist. She used it after every color session. I was always very shocked & impressed w/how soft, shiny and how long my blow out lasted post color. What was even more peculiar was that it took her under 5/6 min (I have a long Bob) to blow out and to style my hair! I never felt any intense heat or scalp burn feeling (which happens nearly every time I've gotten a blow out). One time I was convinced my hair was still wet at the scalp because it felt cool and not hot like it usually has after a blow dry. Anyway, long story short J convinced me of how essential this tool was for my course, prone to frizz hair. I have regular keratin, color and high light treatments so I am always looking for ways to keep my hair looking healthy given my over processed hair. I am not a fan of the price, but once I factored in how many blowouts, conditioning treatments and expensive products I use to keep my hair healthy it made sense. I will actually be saving money in the long run AND saving time. I am not very coordinated, watched only the intro video and after my first try my hair looked great -soft, shiny and natural! The curls lasted, I'm on day 3 and they still look pretty good. The packaging and travel bag is so posh and fancy! I felt like royalty lol. Worth the price.Magda

First of all, I bought this Dyson with my own money and received no compensation for this review. This is my genuine thoughts, opinions, and experience with the upgraded device. So I've had the gen 1 Airwrap for about two years and used it and loved it so I have experience with the Airwrap. Honestly, the swapping for curling wasn't a huge thing for me but I thought it might be nice to save a little time. Here's a comprehensive review and comparison for any on the fence to upgrade. Packaging: LOVE the color of the new one, it's vibrant and great. The nesting lid on the bottom is a nice touch, though I prefer the flip top magnetic lid from Gen 1 still. My main complaint and the reason for the 4 stars is the interior of the case is CHEAP now. Gen 1 had a nice, felt lined interior and the dividers were sturdy. This new one has some black cardboard. The tray that holds the Airwrap base is the cardboard material too. It just really screams cheap, and it's so disappointing because the last one was so nice. The felt material in gen 1 did get some scratches, but it wasn't too noticeable and I much prefer it to this. I tried to just swap all the components to my old case because I truly loathe the inside of this one but they don't fit as comfortably. Speaking of not fitting — I really don't like having to stack my curling rods sideways next to and on top of other attachments. The layout leaves much to be desired and the build quality of the interior is poor especially for a luxury item. You're paying a premium, and the inside felt anything but premium. The travel pouch is incredibly nice in both style and apparent substance, though I haven't used it yet so can't review that fully. The Airwrap & Attachments: So if you've used the Gen 1 the base is functionally the same. I don't notice any difference in the heating/cooling times. The attachments are where it gets tricky. If you're used to swapping barrels it's going to take some time to adjust to turning the cool touch knob. I'm going on 2 weeks and I still catch myself trying to pop the attachment off. Figuring out which direction it's curling now is a little bit harder for my brain to wrap around but nothing major. I primarily use the curling barrels but I did test all the attachments before writing the review. The flat brushes and round brush are functionally the same/similar though I do feel like the flat brushes seemed to direct the air for less flyaways than gen 1. The smoothing/flyaways attachment is very confusing with the different knobs/settings, I've read about it and watched some videos and still struggle. The one I have for my hairdryer works perfectly and is comparatively simple. But if you don't have a Dyson hairdryer and wanted this to be an all-in-one alternative, you'll definitely want to take some time learning this attachment because when it works it is great! I also miss my 0.8 inch curling attachment, I realize you can purchase this separately but I haven't seen it available in this LE rose gold color which is really disappointing because I do like my sets to match so I hope Dyson does consider releasing the narrower barrel in this color soon. The other reviews I've read complained about the size of canister and emptying it but I haven't had any problems myself. I have yet to accidentally hit the switch for emptying the canister but we'll see. The battery life could last little longer but as long as your not continuously running it on the max suction mode and don't live in a two story house you should be good. I wouldn't use in your vehicle since small rocks could damage it. But I'd recommend it for apartments and single story homes. Nonetheless I am pretty satisfied with the vacuum and the price was great!modestmichael89

I've owned this for three and a half years and purchased this after we moved into a small house with all hardwood floor. We ended up buying this as a refurbished model. I love this vacuum for how light it is, and cordless element is SO convenient. I used to be able to zoom around my house and get the whole house vacuumed (if it had been done the day before). I have 2 cats and like to do a quick vacuum each day so this works great for that. If I skip a day or a even a few days, theres no way the battery will allow me to vacuum the whole space. Additionally over the few yrs I've had it the battery just doesnt last as long as it used to. It does get clogged, so occasionally it has to be taken apart to remove hair. I would not pay full price for this brand new, but the cost of a refurbished is better. The small attachments work good to clean hard to get to spots in my car, and it also does a good job cleaning couches. Just this past Christmas I got the ball Dyson. I like to use the cordless for my stairs and a quick clean up, we use the ball plug in now more to vacuum the whole space. Overall I would recommend this, it would be especially good for someone with no pets and a smaller space.amanda.c
