It came in mail fast. Looked good and new. Was using it to process a deer. The battery life was a positive it would take allot game to go through both batteries. I went through 2/3 of first one seemed to last a long time. I didnt like how the blades fit down into the handle so far and the power trigger stuck down in the on position twice. I used some wd40 and seemed to get it working better but almost returned it. I used it the night it came in and havent had a second chance to use it. Ill be trying it on some fish when I get back into town may update then. The knife seems to be of good quality material and looks like it will probably hold up pretty good only time will tell. $107 much better then $169 or more for that price as long as trigger doesnt continue to stick I should be satisfied. The trigger is too small. It should be sized for two fingers. Difficult to depress when flipping knife around to change direction. I've cleaned tens of thousands of fish and the ergonomics of this knife are not very good. Although the blades appear aggressive, they don't cut through ribs and scales as easily as other brands I've owned. Disappointed with performance considering the high price of this knife. The case is way overbuilt. I don't need a $20 case. I need an aggressive knife that gets the job done with little effort.George F.
I received the BUBBA electric fillet knife as a birthday present. As a fisherman that eats nearly everything I catch I clean a lot of fish. I have used nearly ever fillet knife out there and this by far is the best I have had in my hand. Its ergonomic design fits comfortably in my hand. The control is unbelievable almost as if the knife knows what its doing. The RPM's are perfect (not to fast or to slow) The knife and carrying case are covered with a type of vulcanized rubber that emulates gator skin and makes it very easy to grip and gives you complete control. I cleaned over 50 large pan fish this morning and this new knife nearly cut my cleaning time in half. In short this is the greatest thing since sliced bread. The thing is weak. For an almost 200 dollar knife I imagined I could use it for other culinary projects as well. As I was cleaning it up after using it, I noticed it had a lot of grease on the ends of the blades where it clips into the handle, obviously from the factory. I cleaned the blades and removed the grease completely. The next day, I cleaned 5 more fish and didn't have a problem with the blades popping out. We made our decision to go with this Rapala based on its advertising, Bought one, took it home, inserted the blades (very stiff), plugged it in, disengaged the safety, pulled the trigger and nothing. It as dead, no sound at all, Unplugged, and found it was very difficult to removed the blades. Back to Cabelas. Got a replacement. Tested it at customer service. It worked flawlessly. In looking at both, the cutout for the safety was improperly cut in the first one and wouldn't allow the trigger to engage. No clue as to the problem with the blade release buttons, If you buy one, recommend you check it before leaving the store. I believe the second one will do well.JEBar

The original knife had a better heavier motor and metal gears. In the past years they have cheapened up a lot. I buy a knife every season as it does clean a bunch of fish but by the end of the season the knife has pretty much had it. I still have my original knife and it is still running. The trigger has failed. This is another problem with the design. There is a small copper plate on the trigger that burns through. Even though the knife has problems I have not yet found an electric knife that works as well as this one the blade is just right and the cut is very clean so I guess I will continue to purchase a new knife every year. In recent years. at the urging of fishing buddies I tried electric fillet knives. Believe me when I say i am an excellent fillet man using my tried and true, old fashioned fillet knife. Bought this Mister Twister back in July to replace a Rapala electric fillet knife that been damaged when the blades didn't lock in properly. Didn't get to go fishing right away, so it wasn't used for about 4 months. Took my mom out fishing on November 1 and we caught 10 nice keepers (4 bass 6 crappie). Finally, got around to using the Mr. Twister electric fillet knife for the first time. It made fairly short work of cleaning the fish. The largest weighed 2.5 lbs. and the knife had no trouble cutting through the fish and letting the blades travel along the back bone. The knife seem to have plenty of power, didn't get real hot, and made a nice bowl of fillets. The only one thing that I seem to think it lacked was a little longer power cord. The cord is coiled and stretches out, but it doesn't stretch out far enough in my opinion. I would have given a 5 star review if the coiled cord had been just another foot or so longer. I bought this knife not quite six months ago. I bake 3-4 loaves of bread per week and this beauty was a dream and sliced it all with ease. Two major problems: the picture, on line and on the box, are not the product that you get. The blades of the actual knife are considerably (about 3 inches) shorter than depicted. To assure myself I was not imagining something, I went so far as to count the actual teeth versus those in the pictures, and scaled the picture on the box. The blades are so short the knife is not useful for much other than cutting hot dogs into pennies for the grand children. The second problem is that the pressure required on the trigger switch to activate the knife is sufficiently great that it makes the knife difficult to use. A third problem is one I take responsibility for: the on line picture didn't show an electric cord and somewhere I thought I read that the knife was cordless. This is probably the fourth electric knife that I have purchased in my 50 years of marriage. I bought this one to replace another one that I had bought not too long ago, but didn't like using because it was so awkward to cut with. The Cuisinart is wonderful! Currently, most of the loaves I bake are 2lb 12 x 4 for daily consumption. For proper storage and freezing, I place them in professional, unmarked bags. It is very important to cut slices evenly and cleanly. I also have some considerable experience with small, inexpensive electric knives. I cannot understand the good reviews. Also, I use an electric knife, designed for cutting food, to cut foodnot foam rubber. This product has incredibly poor performance. Under powered, cheap dull blades, overheats, hard to use and keep the button pressed and will damage a high quality plastic cutting board. In one review I read that it cuts perfectly even slices. Nonsense! I have a steady hand, but that knife does what it wants. Horrible piece of junk. It is in the recycle bin, bound for the transfer station.js9-70

This knife is a must to have if one has a lot of fish to filet. Having a second battery is a great feature. I am disappointed some what about it, as it isn't as user friendly as the older models. The trigger is smaller and harder to use then the older model that I have. Also, replacement batteries for my older model are to expensive. I'm disappointed with Rapala for forcing me to buy a new unit, when my older knife if perfectly good except for the battery.Dennis
Although this knife functions well, I find the battery life to be a little lacking, which makes the extra battery in the kit very handy. The charging time is also quite long, considering how quickly I can run it back down. I bought the portable model for convenience, since i might be cleaning fish in a place with electrical service. Had a Hamilton Beach electric knife for 25+ years without issue. Blades became dull and could not order replacement so decided on this one based on reviews. First use was light use to carve up a roasted chicken. Found it to be very light weight and easy to use, cut without issue. Second time using it was to slice up some beef that was well cooked and tender. After 10 seconds of use, getting about 2 slices off, the knife started to make a strange baffling sound and then stopped working. There was a distinct smell of electrical burning from the knife and when I looked at my hand that was holding the knife there was some black stains on it which came out from the air circulation openings on the bottom of the knife where your hand would grip. Since the knife was under warranty I filed a claim. Had to provide the normal info like proof of purchase and where it was purchased but then had to provide a picture of the cut power cord, a picture of the receipt and so on and so on. But what really was ridiculous was the fact that I had to provide them $7.50 for shipping and handling of the replacement, which by the way could not be the same color. Considering it failed shortly after purchase with light use, the warranty hassle and whatever possibly toxic black stuff it put on my hand its not worth it. Piece or garbage as far as I'm concerned and Black & Decker's warranty process makes me never want to purchase anything from their brand again.Crash
This Black & Decker electric knife is awesome!!! The shape makes it so much easier to use than the old straight one I previously had. The first time I used it was to slice roast beef. It easily cut all the way through the roast without having to move the cutting board around and bend my arm around . The original knife had a better heavier motor and metal gears. In the past years they have cheapened up a lot. I buy a knife every season as it does clean a bunch of fish but by the end of the season the knife has pretty much had it. I still have my original knife and it is still running. The trigger has failed. This is another problem with the design. There is a small copper plate on the trigger that burns through. Even though the knife has problems I have not yet found an electric knife that works as well as this one the blade is just right and the cut is very clean so I guess I will continue to purchase a new knife every year. I've been using these blades for years. There are more expensive blades out there, but not sure why I'd use anything else. They're sharp, flexible and still fit the Mister Twister Electric that I purchased when they hit the market. In recent years. at the urging of fishing buddies I tried electric fillet knives. Believe me when I say i am an excellent fillet man using my tried and true, old fashioned fillet knife. So,,, I tried an electric. What a joke.I even tried three different "name brand" ones. They failed miserably for various reasons. And then,,,, at the worlds biggest Walleye tournament in Nipawin saskatchewan, a Lund Boat professional introduced me to the incredible Mister twister. TA-DA. Looked like it had been used right out of the box. The blade didn’t want to stay together, wouldn’t attach to the base and stay in. The batteries are weak and the motor wasn’t powerful at all and bogged down to almost completely stopping. I returned it and purchased the same brand in the heavy duty model (huge differences between the two). I have owned a number of electric fillet knifes. This Rapala knife is far superior to any other that I have used. It is relatively light weight and can be used almost anywhere. The motor is powerful and can cut through any saltwater or freshwater fish that I have filleted. Although it is a little more costly than the cheaper and popular brands, the added cost is well worth it. I look forward to using this one for several years.Papaeagle
Worked great for the first batch of fish. Went to use it again and the trigger was hard to hold in the on position. Got a cramp holding the trigger in. Cabelas is sending me another one. This set is replacing a set I inherited from my mother 15 years ago. To say I needed a new electric knife set is an understatement. Colors: I love the black and silver, as opposed to the standard white and silver. Case: The black case has a decent weight to it, the design is just about the same as my old one. I'm getting ready to order another rapala filet knife. The one I have is 6 years old and getting tired. Living in Pa the daily limit of panfish is 50 per day. This knife handles this amount without any problems whenever I bring a limit home.I laughed about the negative comments of this product. This is the first electric fillet knife I've used. I bought it because we caught 30 whitefish, and didn't want to spend hours fileting them with a regular knife. Went down near the gills, and then along the spine removing the fillet and rib bones. I resisted an electric knife…took pride in cleaning redfish old school way. A friend gave me this knife for Christmas. First couple of times I left meat on the bone or cut the fillet off the body, but I got better with it. Redfish have notoriously tough rib cages and this knife zips right through. I can now clean fish two or three to one than with a regular knife and fillets are as clean and smooth as you can ask for. Very pleased with this product. After a couple of years the power button started to stick in the "on" position due to gunk in the switch I'm sure, but overall a very good product. BTW I've never sharpened the blades and it works just fine. Used this cordless filet knife for only the second time, but that's enough to write this review. Only used on ten catfish the first time, but yesterday we caught 23. Bought mainly because of no electricity available, but not having to deal with cords is also a big plus. I fileted all 23 and the knife was still going strong at the end, so no need to use the back-up battery that comes with the kit. I definitely recommend this knife whether electricity is available or not.rstockman72
I have bought two of these knives. The first knife the blades would not securely lock in place. I returned it for another. The blade release design is faulty. It usually takes great effort to get the blades released (and several bad words). It does a good job filleting.Trooper John
I purchased this knife or year ago for our annual fishing trip out west. After cleaning fish on the banks with a traditional knife this was a welcomed addition to our gear box and made filleting walleyes and Pike a breeze! It has great battery life and it lasted our whole trip without having to be recharged. I liked it so much that I bought a second one this year to give away at our annual icefishing Derby.
