I purchased this as a gift twice. Both recipients love it! They say it works great, and the batteries last longer than I thought they would. When I ordered it the first time, I didn’t realize it takes regular AA batteries. But both my mom and mother-in-law are happy with it.SCchick05

I have had my electric shaver for over a year now, and dang, is it durable!! This electric shaver, is built to last! I've dropped it onto hard flooring, I've thrown it, and it didn't crack or break or dent AT ALL. There's been some instances where my shaver was dropped (hard) onto wood flooring, hard enough that it should have ended up in pieces, unusable, but has performed consistently up until now. Unfortunately, with all the use it's seen, it's just now getting to the point of needing to be replaced, but it's still working. In a world full of cheaply made crap from China, Phillips is crafting their products to the good ol' USA standards for durability and consistent performance. Would DEFINITELY recommend!! I was provided the opportunity to test the Philips SatinShave Prestige BRL170/50 premium electric shaving unit. This specific product came neatly packaged, and included the main razor/base, in addition to 4 accessories (a convenient travel cap, a bikini trimming tool/head, an efficiency cap, and a pearl trimmer with safety bar). The SatinShave also came with a small carrying case, and a charging cable. The system took approximately 60 minutes to charge fully, and also featured a 5-minute quick charge option for convenience (if you're in need of a single shave). I found that the unit held power throughout a lengthy shave (multiple areas) consistently. Lights indicating low battery life, full battery life and charging mode were displayed clearly on the main unit. I utilized Philips SatinShave on three areas of my body: my legs, my underarms and my bikini area. The unit itself was easy to hold, and its ergonomic handle shape felt natural, comfortable and light in the hand. This shaver boasts the capability to be utilized for shaving in both wet and dry conditions. I found the shaving conditions to make minimal difference in the units overall shaving performance. The Philips SatinShave removed hair most successfully from my bikini area. The efficiency cap helped to pull my skin taut, and the bikini trimmer accessory enabled me to get a close, smooth shave; even over my typically-sensitive skin. The performance of the Philips SatinShave unit was underwhelming in regard to underarm hair removal. I found it difficult to manipulate the unit under the arm successfully (due to shape of anatomy), in order to achieve/maintain close contact between the foil head and the hair/skin. The Philips SatinShave worked average for leg hair removal. Although the shaver glided over the leg smoothly, the unit did leave residual, coarse stubble, behind on the legs. I found the SatinShave to require more than one pass over areas of the leg (especially the knee) in order to achieve maximum smoothness. In general, I do not feel that the razor surpassed the smoothing effects of waxing or a traditional razor. I also did not feel the electric razor was a time-saver in comparison to a traditional shave. However, Philips SatinShave razor did work to remove hair well in the bikini area and on the legs with minimal irritation, despite having sensitive skin. The SatinShave is also a great on-the-go shaving tool for times when you may miss a spot shaving. It is a great shaver unit to travel with, and I was impressed with the shavers cordless capability, comfortable handle, trimming tools/accessories, actual power and battery-life. Overall, I am happy to have the Philips SatinShave Prestige BRL170/150 as a new tool in my hair removal arsenal.Hayleyc925

I have two complaints about this product – 1) the position of the on/off and speed buttons means I'm constantly turning the razor off when I'm trying to shave. They are placed where one would normally grip the razor. 2) the plastic head protector breaks easily. The grips that hold it in place aren't robust. Your customer service department were very quick in replacing the plastic cover under warranty. The actual razor itself delivers a good shave. This is my third razor purchased from Philips.PHFE

Seeing as I haven't used an electric razor in almost 30 years due to severe irritation after shaving, I was very pleasantly surprised, there was no irritation after shaving at all, with the added bonus of no chance of nicks and cuts. The cut is extremely good it doesn't pull the hairs out like the one I used so many years ago. Its such a good shave that I even use it to shave my head and not just my face instead using of my normal fixed blade razor. The best feature for me is the ability to be able to use it wet (my preferred method) in the shower. I have yet to have full shave with the razor dry, but the spots I missed in the first few shaves That I 'touched up' dry while getting used to the razor showed no irritation at all. I also find it a bit quicker than my normal razor as well, I would estimate at least 5 minutes quicker per full head and face shave. The result is comparable to my normal wet razor except in a couple of areas mainly the underside / point of my chin, its not visibly noticeable but I can feel it when running my hand over those areas, but this may be just experience related. I have also noticed that I use less shaving soap than I did before so it will save me some money in the long term. I would like to see what the shave is like in 6 months and whether I have to replace the cutting heads more often than the estimated 2 years as I am using it for a longer shave than it is really designed for each time I use it. The other thing I have noticed is it is so quiet when in use even when cutting several days’ growth. I was pleased at the fact it came well packed in attractive OEM packaging with its own travel case, the only thing I would suggest is perhaps a little additional space inside the travel case to accommodate the charging cable. Other than that it was easy to use, easy to clean with fast charging time and plenty of shaving time. The pictorial instructions are straight forward and easy to understand. It took a little while to get used to a different speed of shaving and the fact I had to use circular motions for the best shave, but now I wouldn't be without it. Even my girlfriend has noticed how good a shave it is, I didn't tell her I has switched from fixed blade wet shave to electric and she didn't notice the difference. I would recommend this razor to anyone considering 'trading up' to an electric razor. Had I had the chance to 'try before I buy' I would have purchased a similar model of razor years ago.Fraggle1971

I had one similar to this two years ago and loved it so I had to get another! It grabbed those stubbles in private areas that a regular razor can’t! The only negative things I have to say is it sometimes it pinches. If you have longer hair that gets into the foil part it pulls and the side blades hurt a little(can cut your sensitive bits)Adriane

By far the worst electric razor I’ve ever used (and I’ve been through several!). You think the pencil-thin $8.50 bikini / fine hair trimmer is rough? Wait until you get yanked, tugged, and scraped by this monstrosity while still keeping 75% of the hair you go over. Waste of money and will be going straight in the trash. This electric razor is garbage and not worth the money. It worked okay at first but never gave a very close shave and even without the guard. It also nicked me at least twice. I had it for about 5 months when I tried to charge it for the third or fourth time since purchasing it and it just didn’t work anymore. I am one of those women that shave every day to keep my legs smooth. I was offered the Remington Smooth Glide rechargeable shaver to try in exchange for my honest review and was very excited to test it out. I love the fact that this shaver can be used dry or in the shower with shaving cream and that it comes with an edger and trimmer to help cut down longer hair so that the shaver can get a closer cut. The first time I tried using this shaver, I tried it in the shower with shaving cream. As I mentioned before, I shave daily, so I didn't have long hair, just some stubble. I found it a little difficult at first to get it to cut the stubble and make my legs feel smooth. I had to do several passes over different areas of my legs to get it to finally feel smooth but since I was just getting used to using it, I chalked it up to needing more practice. It seemed that the shaver wasn't able to get close enough to my skin to cut the stubble due to the cream so I tried again later with it on dry skin. The shaver easily glides over the bumps and grooves and doesn't feel like it is pulling the hair. I didn't get any type of razor burn or irritation when using it dry. While it can take a few tries to get the hair to cut close to the skin, in the end, I had a smooth shave. The shaver also worked very well with my underarms. The charging stand offers a convenient way to store and charge the shaver so it is always ready for use. The charge also seems to last a long time. While I am still getting used to how hard I need to press down and how to angle the shaver to get a close shave, each time I use it my shave gets better. I will continue to use this as an easy, quick way to have smooth skin all year long.srm273

I had been using a men's razor with triple rotating heads. It missed so much hair I had to go over the same spot multiple times. This razor is very efficient. Once or twice over a spot and my legs are smooth. It's easy to hang onto. I'm very happy I chose this razor. I have not tried it in the shower yet, but dry shaving has been so easy! I took away one star only because the head of the razor is completely stationary. It would be nice if it tilted just a bit when going over knees or boney areas.BB&B Customer

I guess you get what you pay for since this was only $30. It BARELY cuts any hair. It’s taken several (like a lot) of passes to even get the small, 2 day old stubble out of my underarms. Even cut a skin tag/mole in the process. The bikini trimmer attachment is useless also. I don’t know if the blades/foils are too far away from the inside part, but something just isn’t right with the design of this thing. I wish I would’ve read the reviews before buying it.Amethyst2282

This is my first electric razor. It's easy to charge and set up to use. It's definitely better than scissors and faster than a razor. That said, the head is rather thick so it's hard to get into nooks and crannies. Also, if the hair is longer, the razor doesn't get it as easily so you miss a lot of spots and have to go back over. My best results have just been with trimming or with doing a pre-shave or clip. The best function is the battery life, which lasts a surprisingly long time. Overall, not bad for a simple affordable option. And it's pink!savvy

I was pleasantly surprised how well this works, having given up on electric shavers decades ago. It shaves relatively close when I've used it dry, and conforms to the body shape. I haven't yet used it wet. It happens that the charger doesn't fit well in my bathroom – the outlet is under the medicine cabinet, and the razor has to angle out when the charger is plugged in, so this will work better where the razor can stand tall in the outlet.gorgesblonde

I thought this would be an upgrade from a cheaper electric trimmer I was using, but it kept pinching and hurt a lot. It left uneven patches, even on lighter areas despite going over the areas multiple times. Debris builds up underneath the popup trimmer too. There is NO charging base, only a plug in wall charger. When I called customer service they could not tell me if the replacement item they are sending will actually be the two head shaver with a charging base. ((Why?!?)) Bought for in store pick-up. I was provided a completely different razor that does not come with a base. The color around the button is solid pink and not white. And it has a dofferent head. All other stores sell that version along with the one advertised here. The employee berated my husband telling him he does not know anything that this is the new and improved model she provided us in our order. That it does not matter that it does not come with a base or that the head only has a single blade. Tried to shove a razor that elsewhere sells down my hsubands throat for $10 that does not match the product they list here (elsewhwre also sells this razor and it is the same price). I have used this shaver twice now and both times Ive been pleased with the results. Ive found you need to angle it so the foils make contact with your skin first, rather than the shaver head, to avoid that scratchy feeling! I use this to shave my legs whenever the mood strikes, and it's pretty good at removing both coarse and fine body hair. This was my first time using an electric shaver and I'm sorry I hadn't tried it sooner. Gone are the days of shaving cream. This method has proven effective and provides more precision than I anticipated. While I typically forgo the instructions and wing it, I did not find the device intuitive and referenced the manual for guidance. There is a learning curve, but once you get the hang of the process, it's easy to operate, alternate accessories and clean. I love that the set includes everything needed from an exfoliating glove for preparation to a brush for cleaning the appliance to a pouch to store the shaver and its accompaniments. Nothing worse than a company praying you don’t read the smaller text. I was unfortunate enough to buy in store to find out that the 100% waterproof is only for cleaning. Very annoying- but maybe passable if its use was good? Absolutely not. Took forever to get anything off my face which a normal razor could have done 3 times over in the time I tried to use this- and my face still isn’t properly shaven. This is my first experience with a Braun razor. I wear a beard, but still need to keep my neck & cheeks nice and neat. I shaved with a hand razor for years, it was fine. I was interested in a foil razor, but wasn't sure if I'd be able to keep my definition lines on my face without destroying them. However, a friend of mine who also sports a beard has used a Braun for years, no issues. For the price I paid for this razor, I thought I'd try. Not sure why this little razor isn't getting more love, maybe people just don't know how to shave. It works darn good. I can shave closer & faster than I can with a blade, no irritation, and it does not destroy my beard lines. I can't imagine how good your expensive models shave, this little guy works well. There was nothing at all to dislike about this product. I found it to be an amazing piece of machinery. You see I have Parkinson's disease. It eventually became impossible for me to use standard blade razor because I could not twist my wrist to the angles needed to save the contours of my face at the jawline on the sides of my face. This razor is lightweight definitely waterproof and easily glides over all the contours of my face with its pivoting blades. Or I also like to point out that it was easy for me to hold because of the texture of the outside casing of the razor itself you see I have no strength in my hands either. Product: Precision Satin Compact precision trimmer Face/Body Hairs: I received a sample of this product in exchanged for my unbiased review. I suffer from embarrassing facial and body hair that mostly affect my upper lip, chin, arm, and navel areas. The Phillips trimmer is a well designed product that exceeded my expectations. Assembly: The product required very little assembly. The instruction manual provided clear and vivid instructions on how to assemble and use the product. It was pretty easy to switch between the two trimming heads once I figured out how to detach the head from the trimmer. My only challenge involved removing the cover to the battery compartment. I found it to be very difficult to twist open. Trimming: The product provided a very precise trim. I was able to remove my unwanted facial and body hairs with relative ease, and as a result, I was left with silky smooth skin. I did not have to go over the areas I trimmed more than once, as I had to do with similar products. I also did not experience any cuts or burns while using the product. Problems: The trimmer is not as compact as it claims to be. It is rather long, bulky, and bright, which makes it more noticeable than discreet. When the product is turned on, it is pretty loud. This not only made it obvious that I was using the product, but it also bothered my ears. The protective cap is also big and does not fit on the trimmer securely.ShondaB

The Philips Precision Trimmer comes in a nice small box- fitting for a small device, since I was genuinely worried that it may come in a some sort of large and bulky and completely unnecessary packaging. The device itself resembles a nice pen, therefore, not big, and very comfortable to hold in one's hand. It is powered by a single AAA battery and comes with a cleaning brush and a precision attachment. The instructions on the box are given in a super simple picture format, therefore I had no questions on how to use the product. Once turned on, the trimmer emits a gentle (at least to me) buzzing noise- as you would expect- without giving me any fear that it will cause me any discomfort. I am a female with a tendency to have somewhat prominent hairs above the top lip, therefore, I was really excited to try out the trimmer. It glided through my face with ease and actually removed more 'fuzz' than I knew I had. Also, I have a medium sized mole/bump on my face too and I did not feel like that got in the way at all. The only minuscule issue I had was the eyebrow trimming/shaping. I have added the attachment but don't believe I have achieved much of the precision I was hoping for, since I was just too worried to go anywhere too close and make any mistakes. Therefore, I can only say that the device works really well for actually trimming all the hair, but cannot say much for using it for more precise applications.leilaeda

I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. Overall, I liked the product. I was hesitant at first to try something to trim facial hair since I typically get waxes; however, I was pleasantly surprised. The product was easy to use although the directions consist of pictures and arrows pointing in the direction to move the trimmer rather than describing it with words. My personal preference is a combination of both. I first used it to try trimming light hair on my upper lip (it is fairly blonde hair that I previously waxed). The trimmer was wonderful! When waxing I often get small zits or irritated skin, but with this trimmer, I did not have any of those side effects. I also tried it on my eyebrows (and admittedly I was much more hesitant about it!). I did not notice a difference when using the extension fully on my eyebrows but that might be because my eyebrows were too `short` for the extension to pick up any. I used it on small hairs around my eyebrow shape (without the extension attached) and it worked really well. Last, the instructions indicated that it can be used at the bikini line and it worked great there, too! A problem I ran into was that half of the head of the trimmer can come off to clean inside of it as needed. After checking this out, I popped this half of the head back on and the product stopped working altogether. I finally got it to work again by taking the half of the head off again, turning the power button to `on`, and attaching the head while it was running. These instructions are not in the instruction manual`s `troubleshooting` guide, so I hope this helps someone out. Adequate to Good, but not Great. I purchased this shaver instead of its lower priced sister because this one has the bikini attachment. For the extra $$$ I found the attachment to be useless. It has a few settings but none is low enough for a decent shave in bikini area. It is safe because of that as there is zero risk of cutting or hurting yourself. Having said that, I had no problem shaving the bikini area WITHOUT the attachment. I tested the unit with dry shaving and found The razor is easy to use. It worked very well on armpits and legs. The moving head is very comfortable and effective. Overall I am happy with this razor but would recommend it's less expensive cousin because of the disappointing bikini attachment.kara.m

I kind of wish I would have returned this to Amazon. At far as dry shaving goes, the will cut hair pretty close to the skin, so you don’t look as hairy. But if anyone feels your skin, they definitely won’t feel smooth skin. And if you have dark hair, you’re still going to see the dark hair follicles after using this. As far as the trim guard, all it’ll do is snag and pull at your hair. The pain isn’t worth it. I use my husband’s instead, which works almost flawlessly, so I shouldn’t have paid more for the [brand:panasonic] trim guard. As for the recharging of this unit, I can leave it on its charger for 24 hours and the light never turns green. I don’t think the unit is a good investment unless there isn’t much contrast between your skin and hair, or if you find yourself often needing to dry shave and get out the door in a pair of shorts very quickly.d.s

My daughter who is not safe with a regular razor loves it. It cuts closer than any other electric razor we have owned. I would def recommend as and alternative to regular blade razors. Doesn't stay charged as long as I would like it to…You only have about 20 minutes to get your shaving done per session. But overall great product. MandyMandy

This shaver is the latest one that I have gotten from personal purchase at my local Rite-Aid from a year or so ago. I've had it for a long enough time to want to review. I do only use it when my skin is dry, I have yet to be brave enough and see how it works when my skin is still wet after showering or bathing! Overall I don't see or feel stubble too much once after I've used this shaver! I f there is stubble, I would not blame the shaver, I really will blame myself for missing spots on my legs! The Rechargeable shaver no defects holding the charger price is reasonable. This is my 3 rd on Conair over period of yrs, it is cheaper to purchase the whole shaver then it is to replace the blades. I recommend this brand.Beverly

It works ok. The try is not very user friendly because the parts are hard to replace in the try and fall over and are often lost. Very hard to keep organized. The switch out attachments are also not very user friendly. Once the attachments are on they do work decent. Overall, not very satisfied with this product.sarah.l

Love this!! I get razor burn really easily so I tend to be wary when choosing a razor or a grooming kit. I use this to groom my bikini line and it works wonders no razor burn very smooth no shaving cream needed although I use a shaving oil before I use this just to be on the safe side no razor burn which is the best partkay.p

This was a really nice looking razor in the package…but once I got it opened and I realized what I had purchsed, I was mad (before I had even tried it I was disappointed). The razor itself had everything going for it, but it just didnt come together the way they planned or something. The first thing that I noticed after letting this charge ALL DAY…was that the thing was bogging down and dying on me half way through my first leg. It continues to disappoint as far as battery life and use time in between shaving. While it was going full speed though (which was not long) it did an alright job…nothing too great or impressive. I noticed that it left stubbal as well as did not feel good rubbing against the skin on my leg. The replacement blades for this cost almost three times as much as I paid for the razor. At that price…its way cheaper to buy disposables or a manual razor with replaceable cartridges…and if you are not big on shaving…Veet is always another option…bottom line, this is not a good razor. One thing I have notcied about ladies' razors in general…they just arent sharp enough (this one was no exception) If you are set on an electric razor, I would look in the mne's section. You will get a much better shave with less irritation and trouble…which this razor seems to provide plenty of all by itself. I have had this razor for 6 years ,and to this day this razor still works wonderful. I have only had to replace the replacement piece once, and they say you need to change a lot more often. I use it dry or in the shower and works really good. I always keep in charged and ready to use anytime I need it. Light weight, nice grip and easy to use. It's easy on your skin and I have sensative skin and it doesn't irratate my legs. It is easy to clean and comes in it's own pouch with a cleaning brush to keep clean. Very easy to put back together, replacement piece for the razor part of itself pays for itself, for me at least because it seems to last longer then what they think it will. This is a great razor for any age and all skin types, I think the price of itself paid off. I would truly recommend this to anything even teens that are beginning to shave, it's wonderful because you don't have to worry about cuttying yourself like a normal razor does, at least I myself haven't cut myself using this Razor!NancyMitchell

This product was not one of my finer purchases. The first time i used this, I had a hard time actually getting the hair to come off. It did not actually shave my legs. It pulled the hairs and they got caught. After fiddling with it for awhile, I finally got half of my legs shaved and then I decided to call it quits. Then i tried to take off the top part to empty it and I couldn't get it to come off. It was pretty difficult to use. I would like to call this product an inconvenience. I would prefer to use a regular razor that is pretty literal and shaves the hair as it's supposed to. I would not reccommend buying this product. The worst part was the amount of money i spent on it and then i didn't really get any use out of it. It was money flushed down the toilet. Works great! I'm older, and not a ton of body/leg hair – way easier and more convenient than shaving with a razor. The charging dock holds the shaver securely, so it doesn't knock over when it's bumped. The shaver holds a charge for a good length of time. It's lightweight and comfortable to hold. I have been using this amazing razor. It trim and clear all skin hair. Best remover I ever purchased. I had different major I was struggling to shave my legs. After I use this product it consumes my time. Its quicker and much easier. Time saver.puru.s

It's the first time I am using a electric razor. I did a lot of research before buying this product. It's quite reasonable and does a good job at removing hand and underarms hair. If your hair growth is big and if your hair is thick then this won't be a good one. I tried using it on my legs and didn't do a good job. It could only remove those hair which were small. I used it about 3-4 times to remove 70% of my leg hair. You can't remove the finer hair and will have to use wax strips or use normal razor. But it's perfect for hands and underarms and even little bikini hair removal. The battery life is fantastic and can be used on both dry and wet skin.shreya.g

Wanted a easier way to shave down there saw this plus was on sale for $12 was a steal. Sharp and easy to use many different ways to shave, did the job fast and was done in less then 5 mins. If anything else my man loved it so it’s a win win you should totally try 10/10Josephine

I bought a $10 bikini trimmer at a bargain store about a decade ago. It became my absolute favorite HG trimmer that never failed me. I could literally have my whole area done in 5 minutes, and felt smooth as a baby's bum. No pain or dealing with the horrible after-shaving itchies/ingrowns. Good times. It finally died and since then, I've bought countless trimmers from cheap to expensive hoping to find one that matched up to that cheap trimmer but had no luck. I had such a bad experience with one that it nearly turned me off to these trimmers. It nicked and pulled hairs/skin and I became so scared to use it I just went to waxing which is not fun and a monthly expense I didn't want to afford. Finally took a chance on this one despite the mediocre reviews and I'm SO GLAD. this is it! If you're looking for something ten times better than shaving (no itching, ingrown hairs, etc) and something that is the next best thing to the smoothness of waxing, this is it. It's completely painless, you can apply a lot of pressure to really get the hairs at the base and it will never pull hair or nick skin. You can get into the hard-to-reach areas with ease. The hair also grows back thinner for whatever reason. It's truly magical and that's why I'm here writing a ridiculously long review on how life-changing it is. You're welcome 🙂Bree

I always use had usedPhilips bikini line (pink one).. target did not have it so I got this. DOES NOT WORK- what is the use of a cute little light if it can not shave the hair it shows you??! And I use for just a few random face hairs not even bikini line!!Me

This is one of the biggest failures I purchased. After checking so many reviews, I decided to buy this epilator, not from Amazon, but from a different website. BUT I had to come here and share my thoughts. I’ve been epilating my body for 15 years, so I guess I’m “educated” enough to share my experience.

1. The 3 speeds are USELESS. It doesn’t pull out from the root, it SHAVES!! That defeats the purpose of an epilator.
2. The large head does nothing. I go over the same area again and again and my hair is still there!
3. Doesn’t catch the small hair – just the longer one (again, useless!)
4. The adjustable head hurts your skin – it “catches” your skin from time to time while using it. It HURTS and leaves MARKS on your skin.
5. The battery life is too short. If you’re really “hairy”, one charge won’t do it.
6. I’ve never had ingrown hair from my previous epilators, well I have them now from this one.

Do NOT BUY THIS useless device. I guarantee it’s a man that designed this device, cause no woman would approve such junk.Christine S

It didn't work at all. If causing pain is what you want than go ahead. I have dark hair and it didn't shave at all. I am sad I didn't read the reviews before buying.Jamie
