20 Best Electric Snow Blower For Wet Snow (Jan 2023 Update)

As you can see by my big smile, i really like the Snow Joe Snow Thrower (not blower, small point.) It went together rapidly and i was ready to clear my driveway from snow arriving the same day as the new machine. The winter storm left over a foot of snow, dense and heavy snow that would kill me if i had to shovel even a walking path from my garage to the street. As several reviewers have noted the snow chute will blow off the top so snow shoots straight up all around you. The problem is they have only one screw to secure the snow chute to the rotating ring. The simplest fix is put another screw through the base of the snow chute and into the ring. But you have to be careful to use a short screw so you don't screw the chute in the top of the machine. Since I added the second screw I've had no problems with the machine. In my snapshot taken after I'd cleared the driveway of over a foot of snow, heavy and wet snow. In the manual they suggest an easy trick to getting the most from your labors. Instead of just pushing it through the snow, you angle along and push in and pull back so the machine so it works hard moving lots of snow and rests a little when you pull it back. it creates a zig-zag pattern behind your path. So although the snow towered over the little snow thrower, i push deep into the snow and weaken the wall so it crumbles down and i kept doing it over and over. and the photo of the Snow Joe in front the wall of snow it left at the edge of my driveway shows how well it works in even deep snow. The week after I got the snow thrower I had to move three or four inches of fresh snow off my driveway almost every other day. And it took little more than a half-hour to do it. I also like the low weight of the machine so if I need to I can pick it up and store it deeper into my garage. And you really can't beat the price, even when it isn't on a one-day sale.NotASnowPrincesses

The axle and wheels feel a bit flimsy and cheap. On the other hand the blower mechanism exceeded my expectations. It struggles a bit over rough paths and driveways, but does well on smoother surfaces. The first couple of uses on the gravel section of our driveway were difficult, however after a few snowfalls created a firm icy base, it worked much better. Also, it's easy to carry up stairs to elevated deck areas. This may not be the best choice for everyone, but I'm very happy with it. And I'm really glad I did not buy a bigger, heavier, more expensive, higher-maintenance blower. This picture shows me stepping the cord, but I have the trouble with vacuum cleaners.Gartly

Had SnowJoe SJ627E electric corded snow blower from Lowes for a few years. It worked fine, but needed to get a cord lock to keep the extension cord from popping out of the plug on the snow blower. This year, however, we got 12 inches of heavy, wet snow. The belt on the side of the blower burned up and broke apart after doing about 60 feet by 40 feet of driveway. I tried to order a replacement belt, but SnowJoe did not have them in-stock, and Lowes didn't appear to have them either. I found out from a web posting that the TruFlex 1250 belt from O'Reilly's Auto Parts was a good replacement. I bought one, opened the side of the snow blower, and replaced the belt, using the instructions included in the snow blower manual. It fit great! I can now snow blow again! So I recommend this snow blower for light snow, but not for heavy, wet snow, unless you are able to change the belt after it burns up!Buckeye_Knight

I used this when we had 6' of wetter snow. It was easy to push and I like the larger wheels. But would have liked the shoot to have a lever stick like the other Snow Joe I owned. On this is model I had to move around the machine to the shoot where there is a handle to move the shoot, inconvenient. Easy to assemble and fairly light weight.7sweetpea

I really like this snow blower. I'm a woman and this was easy to use. We had some heavy, really deep snow and had to make a couple of passes to to get through it. Once i had a path started it was pretty easy. It was better than having to dig through the heavy snow.Carlson

I am a 74 year old man (BUT in excellent shape). i live in Michigan in an area that doesn't get huge amounts of snow…generally most is around 5-6". Mostly though it is in the 2-3" range. Previously i had (still working fine) a Toro 1800 whch is a plug in paddle type blower with 18" width. That was very reliable and have had it since 2005. The big issue of course is dragging the extension cord around which really slows you down. I considered a gas blower but the weight and storage was going to be a problem. The EGO has had 5 days of use this year although not a huge amount of snow. I have a double wide+ drive way, two patios, and sidewalk….about 75' long….plus I often do my two neighbors sidewalks. Taking EGOs advice I store the batteries indoors….if you keep them in a cold environment your greatly reduce their run time. I used this at the same time e neighbors used their Toro gas blowers. It seemed I was tossing snow about the same distance as theirs and since I had the auger version it got the snow down to the pavement and through some ice. In all the days I used it I was able to finish the job with out a recharge….still had two bars left on the display. I ran the speed control both at half speed and full speed to see how that used up battery charge. Didn't seem to make a huge difference. The last day it was a very wet snow with ice crusting. It got through the worst parts but the ice definitely created a challenge….not so much chewing and spitting it out…but pushing the blower through the muck as it isn't self powered. Overall it works really will but if you have snow in the feet and lots of it….you may want to get a larger machine…,perhaps a 2 stage one. Best part for me….once you remove the two batteries and fold the handle down it is pretty light and can easily fit in a small space around 2'x3'. My rear patio is about 20'x20' and the only way to get to it without dealing with all the snow on the side of the house…it taking it through the house. Since it is so light without the batteries it was no problem. A gas blower wouldn't do that. Another thing I really like is the control to rotate the chute ….easily moved while the blower is running and moving. I did get some icing and one time in the wet snow the chute got clogged. After than I just get some spray WD-40 and spray the inside of the chute and auger mechanism….that way the snow won't stick (trick I read on line about). The Auger does get the snow all the way down to the pavement…something my old paddle type didn't achieve constently. If there is about a 1/2" or so difference, the plastic scrapper will hang up on it since there aren't wheels in the front. I make a mental note of where those pavement differences are and make sure to not crash into them 😉 The only negative is the batteries which will need to be replace after a few years….and they are not cheap. Follow the maintenance guidelines in the manual (charge after use in a warm room and top them off every 3 months during the warm seasons), they should last 3-4 years at least. For me all of the advantages I pointed out above….plus no gas, oil, plugs, filters, mess, service and tune, and smell and minimal noise….or as in my old TORO dragging that extension cord around….make up for that added cost. Only remaining issue is how durable it is…..hopefully it will last as long and minimum maintenance as my old AC corded TORO.AstroBob

So, I was done, done, done with a gas unit. During this storm, I used the Ego 7 times in 2 days. Here's my experience: The snow varied from light and fluffy to wet and heavy with heights from 3" -12" (in some areas the snow height covered the opening of the snow blower). One charge with 2 fully charged batteries lasts about 30-45 min. (The unit can run on 1 battery, but I never tested it out.) For me, the 30-45min is enough time to clear my 8-10 car driveway AND my sidewalk (and part of my neighbors') from 1 neighbor's driveway to the other neighbors driveway… this is about 250-300 feet. The batteries take about 80 min to recharge on the included dual fast charger. The unit easily handles snow heights up to 8". It does have the power to handle higher snow but it definitely works for it. Obviously the harder it works the quicker the battery life runs out. For instance the heavy snow at the end of the driveway left by the street snowplows eats up battery quicker. The unit effortlessly collapses to a small area and is relatively easy to pick up. The push start is a breeze. The chute rotation control is simple and genius! There is a lever by your right hand on the handle to control this. The chute angle control isn't as impressive… even still it's not bad. You just have to reach down to the chute itself to adjust it. The LED lights, which I didn't think I'd ever use, are bright and very useful in the dark. The variable speed control is helpful and helps extend battery life in lighter snow, but you need the high speed in heavy or high snow. The snowblower cleans snow very well and does not leave much behind which does make it sensitive to uneven surfaces but because the unit is so light it is very easy to negotiate when it 'gets stuck' at uneven surfaces. I DEFINITELY recommend the unit with the steel auger. I think this makes this unit even more powerful! Side note: my wife was very skeptical at first. She thought this was a novelty and a waste of $700. However, after seeing it in action and even using it once, she is a total believer and fully endorses this snowblower! Purchased the EGo SNT2114 about 2 weeks ago. I live in Colorado where the snow is usually dry and relatively light. But our early snow is often wetter and heavier with a slush layer at the bottom. We had one of those early snows of about 4 inches 2 days after the purchase. I rate this product at 4 stars because it did not handle the heavy slush-layer very well. It acted more as a snow plow than a snow thrower, even when making thin cuts of 50% width or less. This resulted in a lot of back and forth to punch through the built up mound in the front of the blower. Three days ago we had a more typical snow fall of about 8 inches of drier, lighter snow. Under these conditions the blower worked just fine. As some of the areas to be cleared are in tight locations, I really appreciate the blower's ability to throw snow a long distance when the outflow chute is in the most upright position. I use this blower on concrete, flat stone and composite deck surfaces. I was concerned about it scratching the composite deck surface but haven't noticed anything so far. The controls layout is very good with everything easily reached from the handle bar, except for the outflow chute angle. As for battery life, I am clearing a long single car drive way, sidewalks along two sides of the house, two pathways, and a very large deck (more square footage than the drive way). In the conditions described above I was able to clear both snow storms on a single charge. There was about 20% charge remaining. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase so far.SteveColorado

Purchased this blower 11/2021. First use was 02/22. Blower seemed sturdy enough for my needs and assembly was easy. Started up fine, until i started to move the snow. The chute cap DOES NOT stay in place it constantly moves and will have the snow shooting upwards into the air and everywhere else. I completed half my driveway and just shut it down due to me freezing from being covered in snow from it flying everywhere. I went back out later that evening to try and finish the rest of my driveway, it wouldn't start. I switched the chord, still no luck. I switched to a different socket,that didn't work either. So yeah, it's a piece of junk. Totally disappointed with this purchase.Camesha

I purchased this unit Jan 2022. I live in Missouri where the snows can really be big. Let me say it does the job! We got 10 inches of snow. First and foremost understand you must have a specific type of extension cord to use this. I used a 12 gauge 100 foot. You cannot use anything standard it must at least be a 12 gauge. This snow blower has a 15 amp motor, so you need the bigger gauge extension cord or you will catch on fire. The snow blower cleared 10 inches of snow perfectly. I read hundreds of reviews on snow blowers before I bought this. Many times people said that snow got stuck in the chute as it was blowing out on pretty much every snow blower I read a review on. It happened on this one too maybe 30 minutes into using it. I was prepared I got myself a paint roller extension pole out of the garage. You have to expect this to happen on a snowblower. I simply turned the unit off and stuck the pole handle down inside the chute hole and just knocked the snow back down. My driveway is a normal size two car garage driveway. I plugged the extension cord inside the garage and did my driveway in probably 10 to 15 minutes. I then went around and did my other neighbors driveways in my cul de sac. It was amazing not having any back pain and just pushing it with one hand it's so light and easy. It will take you a few minutes to get used to that extension cord but it's so nice not dealing with gasoline oil and a motor that won't start half the time in a gas-powered tool. Electric is definitely the way to go with a snowblower! Just keep your eyes on that extension cord cuz you have to move it around a lot but it's not hard after a few minutes. I don't have any complaints about the snow blower, the only thing I would say is I don't like where the light is positioned on the left handle up at the top. The light should have been placed at the front of the unit towards the ground. It's about as loud as a battery operated lawn mower, so you could be using your snow blower at 2:00 in the morning and you would not wake any of your neighbors up. Love that! The only difficulty I had was at startup you have to push the button in firmly to start the unit and I did not have it pushed firmly enough in. Assembly took 5 minutes. Wow! I purposely went with a snow Joe because they are the best with snow blowers, and Walmart had an amazing price at $169. Definitely go with a unit like I did that's 21 inches it's pretty much like pushing a lawn mower, and like I said I pushed it with one hand and then held the cord with the other. It's that light! Just remember the chute where the snow blows out of is going to clog up. You will be able to tell when it happens because the snow stops shooting out of it and the motor has a bog sound to it. Just release the handle get your little pole out of your pocket and just knock the snow in the chute straight down out of the bottom of the unit it just takes a second. I don't see how you could keep this from happening, it's wet snow!Hillary2020

Bought this to replace a "dinosaur" old gasoline 2-stage brute that would not start anymore. I previously had experience (great) with Snow Joe's smaller snow shovel that I've had for over 10 years …. still working but now there is a chip in the auger blade and I can't get a replacement. The SJ625E has gotten a workout this winter in western Michigan. Cuts through light snow like nothing and throws it really far. It even has tackled wet snow, but doesn't throw very far so you need to work smart. Don't throw the snow onto other snow that you then need to pick back up again. I highly recommend the SJ625E.MichDave

I bought this product just this past Friday December 31,2021 at the local Menards store and tested the product direct after purchase on Friday where it did fire up but when the first snow settled on today January 2, 2022 this snow thrower wouldn’t start. I bought the correct outdoor extension cord recommended for this product at an additional 157.00. and read the manual for proper handling. Called the customer service but they are closed and had to pay someone to remove my snow from my driveway and sidewalk. I’m so disappointed today but grateful I had some small amount to pay someone else.Ms Sonya

I purchased this product to supplement my larger gas powered two stage snow blower for use when there is light snow fall. My heavier snow blower is just a bit much because of the weight and all the maintenance that is required to keep it running smoothly, plus it sometimes decides to die when the weather is really cold. Two days ago we had the worst snow storm of the season with drifts of powder everywhere and a good foot of snow in one glorious belch of eighteen hours duration. As it happened the gas snow blower had a flat tire and was useless for snow removal and I had to use the electric to clear the driveway. Well it did a fine job on the powdered snow and cleared the driveway with no problem. This unit can throw snow a fair distance so do not let reviews that indicate it cannot deter you from buying this item. If it is heavy snow (wet) it will not toss it far, but powdered snow goes a good 20 to 30 feet away when you angle the outflow chute the right way. If I did not have this back up unit this year it would have been a miserable clean up using a shovel. If you do not want to drag around a couple of hundred pounds of metal then this is also a great unit for you. It does not self-propel but it weighs 36 lbs or so and therefore is not a chore to pick up and move around. Yes it requires a cord and you have to make sure you do not run over that while cleaning up, but considering you do not have to gas it up, worry about spark plugs, regular maintenance and all the headaches that go with a gas blower this is not a bad deal at all. It starts up instantly without having to worry about extreme cold interfering with the engines performance and it beats hand shovelling any day! I only gave it a four because the turning crank is a bit of a pain and mine fell off pretty quickly, so now I just direct the snow chute by hand and it works just fine for me. Not at all disappointed with this purchase and I hope to get some years of service from it.JIM7

My husband and I have ordered Greenworks tools and equipment in the past and we really like their products. A few weeks ago we decided to order a snow thrower to make cleaning our long driveway a breeze. It arrived just before the first substantial snowfall and I have to say it worked well. Assembling the snow thrower was easy and took only a few minutes (~15 minutes). It normally takes us about 45 minutes to an hour to shovel our driveway, but with our new toy it handled all the snow within about 15 minutes. This was our first time using a snow thrower so we weren't really sure what to expect, but I have to say that it handled less than 6 inches of wet snow very well. I don't know how well it handles compacted snow or large amounts (greater than 6 inches), because we've only used our thrower once so far but I plan to update this post once we've received more snow. (Also we used our snow thrower during the day so we really can't say much about the LED lights on our model. Our street is not very well lit so that's why we wanted a snow thrower with lights. Until we have a chance to use it in the dark we really can't attest to their usefulness.) I have to say so far we are very pleased and can't wait to order more Greenworks products.Snow blower

I bought this electric cordless snow blower a month ago. Because there was little snow so far this winter in my area, I only opened box and assembled it the day before yesterday. After charged the battery, I tried to start the snow blower. When I pull up the handle, I expected to see headlight on, but it didn’t. Interestingly after I pushed start button, Motor started to run without working headlight. I returned this unit to Home Depo yesterday. Because my purchase was beyond one month, I can not easily returned it or exchanged it for another one. I wanted to thank Home Depot for allowing me to return it and purchase a new one using the credit they issued to me. I assembled and tested the new one, everything looks working including headlight. My experience is that I should assemble and test my first purchase within one month. That could make return and exchange much easier. My other observation is that pictures in user manual is very helpful for installing the chute deflector. It was only take me two or three minutes to do it after understanding manual instruction. Now I have my snow blower ready and waiting for snow to come.Barry

I had a single stage gas snowblower for about 12 years. My wife always had issues starting it when it's dead cold and I'm away on a business trip. It's also loud and heavy to handle for her. We're getting old so I was looking for something lighter, quieter and will just turn on instead of struggling to start. I looked around for a long time for a battery model and settled on this Toro mainly from reviews, the steel auger and one that is actually an auger with the throwing portion in the middle as opposed to a simple leather throwing blade (like my old gas unit). There is very little to assemble out of the box. Set up the chute and straighten the handle. That's it. It has an eco mode which cuts the power in half (just a guess), but I have a simple 2 cars driveway where I don't need to save the power. I just go full blast and the battery lasts the whole driveway plus my neighbor's. No problems throwing the snow a good distance. It tackled 5cm of wet snow without issues (I live just a tad north of Calgary, Alberta, Canada). The Toro is also amazingly quiet. My older gas unit was also throwing a lot of snow back on my pants and shoes/boots. Not the Toro. The gas blower needs time to warm up or it will stall. Not the Toro. The LED lights are really bright and help when using in the evening or very early morning. A big tip, keep the battery inside to charge. You'll get a whole lot more out of that battery if you keep it inside at room temperature rather than in the garage at -15C. I have the charger on a timer to charge 1 hour/day. The Toro is so light that I can see hanging it on the wall or lift it on a shelf during the summer to keep it out of the way. It is quite smaller than my gas blower since it only needs an electric motor instead of a gas engine. Just got a 2nd snowfall of 10cm. It bit through it like it was nothing. Did our 2 cars driveway, also did our neighbor's and was left with 50% battery at the end. No effort whatsoever through the snow and so much quieter. I can see the eco mode being useful when clearing our walkway without throwing the snow against the fence or neighbor's house. It has a shorther throw in eco mode. At full power, the battery never ran out so I'm leaving there most of the time. Another neighbor was really impressed how well it worked and how we could chat over the noise since it's so quiet compared to a gas one so he's seriously considering buying one as well.MarcP

Some pre-amble. I made the commitment to move away from gas powered tools this past year, and my snow blower was last to go about 1.5 months ago. I purchased Toro lawnmower in October with intention of also buying Toro snow blower for interchangeability of batteries. Let me say that my original plan was to buy the newly released 2-stage 26" Toro snow blower, but when I could not find them anywhere (waiting lists) due to supply chain issues everywhere, I found myself looking at other options. that's when I started looking at this single stage with 7.5a battery. Based on reviews, it seemed to be a really good machine, and more I thought about it, it is probably sufficient for my 4 car driveway (estimate 20' x 40'), and had the added advantage of small footprint and light weight for storage. Oh, let's not forget about ~$1350 less expensive too! I did not want to find myself without a blower this winter for worry that these would also sell out, so I took the plunge and ordered a couple of months before winter hit. So, back to review of the e21 Power Clear. First snow storm last night in Eastern Ontario (Dec 5th), and we got quite a few cms of snow, followed by freezing rain. So snow was high in some places, and wet, with a thinner crusty layer. Temp outside was about -2 degrees Celcius…so not cold. I started in non-eco mode and for snow that was 8" deep, it ate threw it. However, after doing about half my driveway, I checked battery level…it was down to 2 bars (fully charged when I started). So, I switched to Eco mode to do the remaining half, my about 50 sq ft of walk way and the road in front of my yard (about 6' x 10' so snow plow driver can see my curb and to minimize the pile at end of driveway). The stuff on the road was about the same height of blower opening and it had a tougher time, but still chewed threw it. Had to take Eco mode off for that though. It had no issue in eco mode, although you can tell the difference in the motor speed and as one would expect, distance snow was thrown. Still did the job though. And yes, this can throw the snow easily 25ft…almost accidently threw snow over my yard and onto my neighbours driveway. When I was done, I had one bar on my battery. What I don't know is how close the machine was to just shutting down from lack of battery power. Not sure if these batteries show red when completely spent or not, but based on claims and reviews, I suppose I expected more than that. Also, note it was not cold out, and I suspect cold temps take their toll on battery life. That said, if it was that cold, would have been light fluffy snow instead of wet crusty snow, so maybe that somewhat balances out. All this to say based on my one experience, if we were expecting a huge snow fall, ie. consistent depth of 6-7 inches or more, I would likely plan to clean the snow at least a couple of times during the storm opposed to waiting for the snow to stop, as I would do and easily manage with my previous 2-stage 11 hp gas snow blower. Keep in mind that my thinking in this regard is only based on my experience using this unit once, so take with a grain of salt. Then, I waited for the plow to come by, but by then, there wasn't enough material to justify using the blower…it was mostly water and slush from all the rain and +6 degree temp. One thing that I definitely noticed, and miss, was the shoot height adjustment at the handle. Given my situation, I am adjusting height several times during the snow blowing session, and I cannot reach the chute adjustment from behind the blower (I am 6'4"). I have to stop and go to the side to adjust it whereas on my gas blower, I could adjust it quickly with the lever on the main handle bar on the fly while blowing snow. I would pay more for this unit to have that functionality at the handlebar. Is it a deal breaker? Not likely, but time will tell. Who knows, maybe I will get annoyed enough to move to a 2-stage. So, summary of pros and cons (for me): Pros: small foot print, electric so no dino fuel required, light for storage on a shelf in my garage, seems to handle decently deep snow, even wet, and can throw it far, scrapes driveway clean so no need to follow up with shovel like I did with my big gas blower, led light is bright, although I used in the morning so was less noticeable, super light to maneuver while using it, easy to push through the snow…little effort required. Cons: 7.5a battery may not last as long as claims, wish the wheels were rubber instead of plastic, and really miss being able to adjust the shoot height. I will say that I am a little concerned about the plastic chute and possibility of cracking in very cold temps and if the impeller grabs a decent chunk of ice or rock. That's just me though, not sure if it would crack or cause any issues, but something to be said about strength of metal chute. Would I buy it again? At this point, yes. However, I won't really know for sure until I have used this at least a half a dozen times underShhh

I am a 74 year old man (BUT in excellent shape). i live in Michigan in an area that doesn't get huge amounts of snow…generally most is around 5-6". Mostly though it is in the 2-3" range. Previously i had (still working fine) a Toro 1800 whch is a plug in paddle type blower with 18" width. That was very reliable and have had it since 2005. The big issue of course is dragging the extension cord around which really slows you down. I considered a gas blower but the weight and storage was going to be a problem. The EGO has had 5 days of use this year although not a huge amount of snow. I have a double wide+ drive way, two patios, and sidewalk….about 75' long….plus I often do my two neighbors sidewalks. Taking EGOs advice I store the batteries indoors….if you keep them in a cold environment your greatly reduce their run time. I used this at the same time e neighbors used their Toro gas blowers. It seemed I was tossing snow about the same distance as theirs and since I had the auger version it got the snow down to the pavement and through some ice. In all the days I used it I was able to finish the job with out a recharge….still had two bars left on the display. I ran the speed control both at half speed and full speed to see how that used up battery charge. Didn't seem to make a huge difference. The last day it was a very wet snow with ice crusting. It got through the worst parts but the ice definitely created a challenge….not so much chewing and spitting it out…but pushing the blower through the muck as it isn't self powered. Overall it works really will but if you have snow in the feet and lots of it….you may want to get a larger machine…,perhaps a 2 stage one. Best part for me….once you remove the two batteries and fold the handle down it is pretty light and can easily fit in a small space around 2'x3'. My rear patio is about 20'x20' and the only way to get to it without dealing with all the snow on the side of the house…it taking it through the house. Since it is so light without the batteries it was no problem. A gas blower wouldn't do that. Another thing I really like is the control to rotate the chute ….easily moved while the blower is running and moving. I did get some icing and one time in the wet snow the chute got clogged. After than I just get some spray WD-40 and spray the inside of the chute and auger mechanism….that way the snow won't stick (trick I read on line about). The Auger does get the snow all the way down to the pavement…something my old paddle type didn't achieve constently. I did note that when going through icy snow it does tend to toss some of the ice back out from the auger in to the front of the machine and not all through the chute….not a big deal though. The only place where it struggles is out in the street after a bunch of cars have gone by and packed the snow and ice firmly. Since it is relatively light I will do a couple of passes..take the top layer off and than go back for the lower level. But my old paddle blower was useless in the same conditions.The plastic scrapper and 2 small rubber paddle blocs seem to be the only parts that will need relacement and are available as sacrificial parts….but thus far they show no alarming wear. One thing you need to be aware of is sidewalk and driveway differences between two pavement elevations. If there is about a 1/2" or so difference, the plastic scrapper will hang up on it since there aren't wheels in the front. I make a mental note of where those pavement differences are and make sure to not crash into them 😉 The only negative is the batteries which will need to be replace after a few years….and they are not cheap. Follow the maintenance guidelines in the manual (charge after use in a warm room and top them off every 3 months during the warm seasons), they should last 3-4 years at least. For me all of the advantages I pointed out above….plus no gas, oil, plugs, filters, mess, service and tune, and smell and minimal noise….or as in my old TORO dragging that extension cord around….make up for that added cost. Only remaining issue is how durable it is…..hopefully it will last as long and minimum maintenance as my old AC corded TORO.AstroBob

Thankfully acquired this unit right before Winter Storm Landon Feb 2022. Previously had a used 2-stage gas snowblower that I couldn't ever get to work when I needed it. So, I was done, done, done with a gas unit. During this storm, I used the Ego 7 times in 2 days. Here's my experience: The snow varied from light and fluffy to wet and heavy with heights from 3" -12" (in some areas the snow height covered the opening of the snow blower). One charge with 2 fully charged batteries lasts about 30-45 min. (The unit can run on 1 battery, but I never tested it out.) For me, the 30-45min is enough time to clear my 8-10 car driveway AND my sidewalk (and part of my neighbors') from 1 neighbor's driveway to the other neighbors driveway… this is about 250-300 feet. The batteries take about 80 min to recharge on the included dual fast charger. The unit easily handles snow heights up to 8". It does have the power to handle higher snow but it definitely works for it. Obviously the harder it works the quicker the battery life runs out. For instance the heavy snow at the end of the driveway left by the street snowplows eats up battery quicker. The unit effortlessly collapses to a small area and is relatively easy to pick up. The push start is a breeze. The chute rotation control is simple and genius! There is a lever by your right hand on the handle to control this. The chute angle control isn't as impressive… even still it's not bad. You just have to reach down to the chute itself to adjust it. The LED lights, which I didn't think I'd ever use, are bright and very useful in the dark. The variable speed control is helpful and helps extend battery life in lighter snow, but you need the high speed in heavy or high snow. The snowblower cleans snow very well and does not leave much behind which does make it sensitive to uneven surfaces but because the unit is so light it is very easy to negotiate when it 'gets stuck' at uneven surfaces. I DEFINITELY recommend the unit with the steel auger. I think this makes this unit even more powerful! Side note: my wife was very skeptical at first. She thought this was a novelty and a waste of $700. However, after seeing it in action and even using it once, she is a total believer and fully endorses this snowblower! Purchased the EGo SNT2114 about 2 weeks ago. I live in Colorado where the snow is usually dry and relatively light. But our early snow is often wetter and heavier with a slush layer at the bottom. We had one of those early snows of about 4 inches 2 days after the purchase. I rate this product at 4 stars because it did not handle the heavy slush-layer very well. It acted more as a snow plow than a snow thrower, even when making thin cuts of 50% width or less. This resulted in a lot of back and forth to punch through the built up mound in the front of the blower. Three days ago we had a more typical snow fall of about 8 inches of drier, lighter snow. Under these conditions the blower worked just fine. As some of the areas to be cleared are in tight locations, I really appreciate the blower's ability to throw snow a long distance when the outflow chute is in the most upright position. I use this blower on concrete, flat stone and composite deck surfaces. I was concerned about it scratching the composite deck surface but haven't noticed anything so far. The controls layout is very good with everything easily reached from the handle bar, except for the outflow chute angle. As for battery life, I am clearing a long single car drive way, sidewalks along two sides of the house, two pathways, and a very large deck (more square footage than the drive way). In the conditions described above I was able to clear both snow storms on a single charge. There was about 20% charge remaining. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase so far.SteveColorado

First chance to use it today after a wet, heavy snow. Due to high winds overnight, the depth ranged from a couple of inches to about 15 inches in spot with bad drifting. Even with the wet/heavy snow it threw it clear of the driveway with ease. The area with the deep drift was easy enough to clear by tilting it back a little – let clear what it could from the top, then back up and finish it off (rinse and repeat). I messed up near the landscaping and got off the sidewalk – it threw a couple of river rocks so I checked for damage – that rubber blade is tough, no damage. It did clear snow right down to the concrete … the photo makes it look otherwise but that's because the dog and cat packed it down pretty good playing "chase" during the snowfall. With a 100-foot 12-gauge extension cord, I was easily able to get down the drive + all the way down the sidewalk on both sides of the house.Omaha D

Waited until I had multiple snowfalls under my belt to review and have learned that it really depends on the type of snow, more than the depth of snow, to judge machine. First snowfall was deep with large drifts in brutal cold. Because of this snow was light and fluffy. You could not make a snowball with this snow. The machine zipped through it like a champ. Whether you tried to take off the top few inches and work down, or take out the bottom and let the snow collapse, the machine ate it up. Good throw, easy to use. Next snow was a heavy slushy mix. This too wet to make a snowball. The machine growled and struggled. Arms got tired pushing back and forth, but it cleared the walk and it was easier than lifting that heavy slush. Next snow was packing snow. The perfect kid's snow to build snowmen, snowballs, forts etc. While we got a foot or more I went out every two inches. Machine struggled terribly due to one design flaw. While the motor and blade seemed willing and able, the small diameter chute would seal with packed snow in seconds. Sometimes you could bounce the machine and loosen it up, other times it was flip the machine and dig out. Even with the upper elbow set straight the same problem occurred. I tried coating the inside of chute with WD40 didnt help. When I came out in am, there was 4 inches on the ground which forced me to go back to shoveling as every foot it was a clogged chute packed so densely you had to dig it outRKelley

Bought it back in September getting ahead of the game. Just got a foot of snow over night first real snow. Was worried about if this would handle it. Taking my time and letting it work. I was very impressed with its ability to handle that crazy amount of snow. Did my drive and walks in about 2 hours. Threw the snow nicely good shute adjustments and not so heavy. Works as good as my old gas one without messing around with fuel and getting it started. Very quiet also didnt wake my wife at 4am when I started clearing next to the house. I put it through the paces and really like the unit so far and would buy again if needed. Great job snow joe you sold me on your products.chuckleberry

I had a "cardiac event" in August and even though my cardiologist says I have no restrictions, my wife bought me the Snow Joe. My driveway is very narrow and is right next to the house; a large gas thrower is not practical. If I store it in the garage, I have no way to get it to where the work needs to be done in the front of the driveway. I can store the Snow Joe in the garage then carry it to where I need it. It also fits nicely between the cars in the driveway and the house. We received 18 inches of snow Friday night and I had my first real test of moving snow. It handled the 18 inches with no issues. Our village plows both the road and the sidewalk leaving three large ridges of snow to deal with at the end of the driveway. This snow is both deeper and more compact, but I was still able to get through with a little patience. The fist pass through the center was the hardest and just moved out to the left and right from that point knocking snow down to the driveway to be blown with the next pass. I went through the process of removing snow, moving a car out of the way, moving snow, moving a car out of the way…until I was to the end of the driveway in the back yard. It actually went so quickly and easily that I decided to give my blind dog an easier time by moving snow off a good portion of the back yard for her. I just had to raise the front a bit as I pushed so that I wasn't churning up the grass.Rochester

Walmart's web site didn't say anywhere that it was refurbished. It was. Had a few scuffs but noting major, no big deal. Just would have been nice to know. Well, it also means things get replaced. It came with no screws or Assembly as they call it. So, I called up Snow Joe Outlet and they're sending me a set. I couldn't wait so I went to Home Depot and bought 1/4-20 1.5 inch bolts and butterfly nuts to assemble it. Worked like a charm until the real stuff comes. I get back home and realize the battery charger keeps flashing red, meaning a temperature issue. It didn't feel hot, so I took it inside thinking it may need to get warmer. Same issue. I'll have to call the outlet again and see if they can help. As for the snow blower itself, it did work and did it's job. It's not as loud as a gas blower but has a bit of a squeal when running. The sidewalks around my house are not even, so the blade picks up a lot of dirt and hits the ground a lot. It sounds really scary but seems to be operational still. Would have given 4.5 out of 5 stars if it wasn't for the missing parts and questionable battery/charger. Snow Joe Outlet was pretty easy to work with, they sent it no questions asked.David

If you want to throw away your money go ahead and purchase this hybrid snow blower. I just went out to try to use it for the third time since purchasing. The first time there was not enough snow about 1.5" and it wouldn't move it. So I had to shovel by hand. The second time the snow was apparently too wet and constantly clogged the chute so I could not use it. So I had to shovel my hand. This third time should have been an ideal situation. The snow was not too fluffy and not too wet and there was enough approximately 2 in that it should have moved it easily. I was able to clear the sidewalk and bottom of my driveway when the battery died. so the battery lasted approximately 10 minutes. I then went to plug it in and it turned over and immediately stopped. I know it's getting juice because I can move the shoot electronically and it started briefly. I decided to let it set for approximately 30 minutes while I shovel again by hand. Now it will not start at all. so I could not use it two out of three times. The third time I only got to use it for 10 minutes and now it's dead. That's an awful expensive piece of trash I just purchased. Now it's too late to take it back and I'm stuck with a piece of junk that is worthless. I've already tried to deal with customer service at this company on another one of their products that was defective right from the start and I'm still waiting on a replacement part months later so I don't expect to get any help whatsoever from their customer service. The point in me purchasing this was because I didn't want to have to deal with gas and oil and purchase a larger machine or shovel by hand. it was a bonus that I hope the battery would last me through the sidewalks and bottom part of the driveway and I would only need the electric hookup for the upper part of the driveway. My prior $99 cheap little electric Toro lasted me six years. Just as an FYI, my driveway is not by any means large. I will never, ever, purchase anything from this company again. This is the second piece of equipment I purchased that was immediately defective. I have added a photo of the small amount of snow that apparently took down this $250 snowblower. I am so disgusted. Owning this snowblower has been a horribly experience. I had to send the first one I bought back for warranty repairs because it didn't have enough power on battery to move 1-2 inches of light snow. The safety lever on the replacement I received broke on first use this winter. The unit turns on as soon as the battery or power cord is connected. I contacted Snow Joe and told them about my unit's safety issue, they told me to go buy a new one because it's out of warranty. I will never buy from this company again, who wants a $300-400 snow blower that lasts one winter?Miles

This one I can push; however, it has a strange design flaw that I have not encountered with others. It throws a huge amount of snow through the front to the point that it is leaving a huge mess with powder and pieces of ice everywhere and you will end up covered in snow. When clearing the snow left by street, I am actually throwing pieces of ice to the cars parked across the street. Now, I have to figure out a way clear the driveway making sure I'm not pointing towards the front of the house or to the cars across the street. I contacted costumer service and they basically blew me off. Some R'Ceino guy sent a generic message about the machine being "so powerful" and closed the case with any change for me to ask more questions. I was hoping for some advice and was willing to change, upgrade to another one that does not do that but now, I will certainly try to get rid of it and switch to another brand.camz1

There is a lot to like about this snow blower. It is lightweight. It throws dry snow a very long distance and does an above average job with wet snow. The two batteries that came with the blower are sufficient to do my 85' double driveway and 300' of residential sidewalk; getting down to the pavement. Battery recharge time is good at about 1/2 hour. Be warned that the blower does NOT have any type of thermal or re-settable fuse; therefore if you hit some snowplow induced packed snow/ice it can cause the unit to stop working and be dead-dead-dead. EGO customer service replaced the unit within a week. The scraper bar on the bottom works well-maybe too well- as there is no angle to it, so when it hits an uneven part of a walk or driveway it will stop you dead in your tracks. A redesign of the scrapper bar could help with this.The only other complaint is that compared to the gas snowblowers I've had, this one does not pull through the snow. You have to forcefully push it through a 3-5" snow which is a noticeable downside for older folks. Overall I like the unit and would recommend for anyone who deals with occasional under 6" snowfalls.AMSRA

I bought the SNT2102 snowblower because of the great reviews and less maintenance it had compared to a gas powered snowblower. I bought the snowblower in November and only used it twice between December and January. By the 2nd time I used it, the snowblower would stop every 8 seconds along with orange blinking lights. I looked it up online and says "the snowblower might be overwhelmed" or there is an "obstruction on the blade." So I rested the snowblower and looked underneath and there was no obstruction seen. I used the snowblower and still same problem – stops every 8 seconds with the orange blinking lights. I was very disappointed as this is a brand new snowblower and only used twice! I contacted EGO customer service and they sent me a replacement snowblower and I sent mine back to them. So far, I have used it once and it performed what it's suppose to do. So I am hoping that this replacement would last for more than 2 months. To give EGO customer service credit, they took care of the problem promptly and did not give me a hard time. Also as a disclaimer, I live in Elgin, IL and we got 2-4 in of snow in my driveway.Pnoy

Works as well or better than gas powered equivalents so far. I thought there was an issue as it wouldn’t throw the snow very far when there was only a light dusting of snow (I also had this problem with a gas single stage I had a few years ago). I found that by reducing the auger speed it solved everything and started to throw the snow at a more appropriate rate and distance. you definitely need to match the auger speed to the snow load and it’ll work better for you. Any gas blowers I’ve seen don’t have adjustable auger speeds so this is a huge plus. I have a 45’ x 30’ pad and it clears the whole thing on a single charge at -30 degrees Celsius. Normally the batteries would have 2-3 bars left after finishing, at this cold it had only one bar left (3-4 inches of snow). So there is definitely a little bit of battery degradation in colder temps. That’s expected though. The heated grips work fantastic. Highly recommended.Andrew W42

So far, this blower has been pretty good. The snow we have had since getting it (have had it for one week now) has been pretty light, so I can’t yet speak to how it will do in wetter, heavier snow. The claim of throwing snow 45’ seems like it may be a bit of an exaggeration, but still does a good job nonetheless. Im not really noticing much auger propulsion as of yet, but that could have something to do with the type of snow we’ve had so far too. Although the blower is not meant to be used on a gravel driveway, that is what we have, and use it on, we have just had to make sure to have a good enough base to have the gravel covered because being that the housing is made of plastic, I’m sure the rocks will not be good for it if we pick up too many of them. Had our local store had a self propelled 24” machine available, I likely would have gone for that instead. The two 7.5ah batteries do quite a good job, but I might try a pair of my 10ah batteries at some point to see how much more can be done with those. I really like the dual charger, it’s great to be able to put both batteries on one charger together, rather than having to have two separate chargers (which I do already have from other products).P Starling

Waited for years for a self propelled single stage EGO to be released. Glad to get away from gas and oil and really like the EGO leaf blower bought in the spring. Figured this purchase was a slam dunk. Bought this unit a week ago and got to put it to work today. About 2-3” of lightly ice crusted powder on a “10 car” driveway including the road apron plus ~110 feet of sidewalk. Batteries fully charged and stored in the house to stay well above 41F. All concrete surfaces. Did not use handle heater or headlights. Very disappointed overall even taking into account the learning curve of using a new machine. At full “throttle”, unit struggled to throw snow 6’ much of the time even with the chute straight ahead and wide open. Threw better with a heavier intake. Auger propel feature was marginal at best, still had to push it quite a bit on the way up the mild driveway incline, better going downhill or flat. Very difficult to maneuver on asphalt public street to clear mailbox area as the rough surface kept snagging the scraper. Plows had not come through the sub yet so no extra snow there. Clogging was typical of single stage units and not a big deal. Unfortunately, batteries were fully drained before I could finish the driveway so shoveled the rest. Not really what I had planned. I had really high hopes for this model. I looked hard at the two stage model but too much machine and cost for typical snowfalls here – or maybe not. My previous single stage was a Toro Snow Commander (7hp, oil/gas mix) from about 15 years ago that I donated 7 years ago when we moved. That machine chewed through anything, even chunks of ice. To be fair, it was used on asphalt driveways and never had to replace the scraper or paddles over the years I had it. I believe this EGO model would do much better on asphalt vs concrete and better with the typical powder we get. Leading edge of scraper is already rolled over a bit but perhaps not unusual for use on concrete. And yes, you need to mind the joints in the concrete with the scraper but was expecting that so easy to work through. For a thousand dollar machine, I expected better.Chairman100

I bought the SNT2102 snowblower because of the great reviews and less maintenance it had compared to a gas powered snowblower. I bought the snowblower in November and only used it twice between December and January. By the 2nd time I used it, the snowblower would stop every 8 seconds along with orange blinking lights. I looked it up online and says "the snowblower might be overwhelmed" or there is an "obstruction on the blade." So I rested the snowblower and looked underneath and there was no obstruction seen. I used the snowblower and still same problem – stops every 8 seconds with the orange blinking lights. I was very disappointed as this is a brand new snowblower and only used twice! I contacted EGO customer service and they sent me a replacement snowblower and I sent mine back to them. So far, I have used it once and it performed what it's suppose to do. So I am hoping that this replacement would last for more than 2 months. To give EGO customer service credit, they took care of the problem promptly and did not give me a hard time. Also as a disclaimer, I live in Elgin, IL and we got 2-4 in of snow in my driveway.Pnoy

My daughter gave me the electric snow thrower for Christmas and it is the best gift I have ever received. I have a mammoth deck (about 600 sq ft) and I would try to keep it shoveled however at 75, it was becoming a challenge. With the snow thrower, it was a piece of cake keeping the deck cleared off. With the snow thrower, the snow was off the deck in no time and my back wouldn't bother me at all. And it was especially great being able to quickly clear the snow which would fall off the roof so there wouldn't be a big frozen mass to try to chop away later. I am confident I can handle all the good snowfalls here in central Vermont for years to come with my trusty Green Works snow thrower.BBC007

Bought it last March used it 4 or 5 times, loved it! Cleared our walkway fast and easy, even the big drifts were no problem too get cleared. I love that it's easy to move around and it throws the snow in front of you. I've used it 3 times this year and the cord snapped off while I was using it this past Sunday. Very disappointed! I emailed the company with pictures and proof of purchase and NOTHING! So I'm guessing their warranty is not actually a thing. Really disappointed that I'm now going to have to pay someone to fix it.McMullen1234

Ive had this for 6years. Originally purchased for my son who used to shovel and I watched how he suffered with his back. The year I bought it..it didn't snow. Then the following year he and his gf moved to an apt where maintenance took care of the grounds. So lucky me!!! It is. God send and my neighbors are jealous. I don't gloat but they are out there for 2 hours and im done my whole grounds in 45minutes. They should get one. For Real!!!Let it snow

Easy to use. Customer suport was great. They didn't keep me on hold. I had a problem getting it to start,the tech took me thru the reboot and it worked fine. I live a the top of the Continental Divide and have tough snow blowing chalenges. with a healing broke arm this litte guy sure beat a snow shovel.Mt Ted

Great little snow blower , on one charge I was able to do my driveway , deck , patio , yard walks , city sidewalk & my neighbours walks. This snow blower is great to use. Lightweight but so far seems pretty durable (Have had it for about 10 months) It will stall when the snow is wet and jams up around the blade, but clean out around the blade and it runs again. Customer support in my experience was tremendous.Keg0126

One of the first thing I asked before I got the snowblower was can it handle the heavy snow of Chicago. I was told yes. What I wasn't told is that the battery power goes out twice as fast with heavy snow. and this I would have to work twice as hard. I live on the corner so I have a lot to shovel and I had to stop and recharge the battery 3 times. I don't know about you but when I stop, it's very hard to get started again. This is the first snowblower I've have in my life so I had no idea how small 18' was but that was my fault. What I like, no, love about the snowblower is that I don't smell like gas when I come back in the house, the blower is light enough to pick up easily (thank you for the handle!), to bring into the house, again, no gas smell. I also like the fact that most of my complaints can be fixed easily. For heavy snow, I just have to go out more often, while the snow is still coming down. I made the mistake of waiting for the now to stop and now I need a shovel because the blower couldn't handle the high snow. As for the time, I just need more batteries so I don't have to stop once I get started. As for the width, I wish I could send this back and get a wider one but…McGinnis

The Snow Thrower pretty much ran as I expected in our heavy wet snow. Here is what I found: It tended to bog down when pushing forward too fast. It did throw the snow a decent distance. Wheels could have been bigger. Since I pretty much had to remove snow a layer at a time, dragging it back resulted in machine sinking into snow. Battery power still has a way to go to catch up with a gas powered snow blower. Having to push the machine forward eats up a lot of ones energy especially when it takes multiple passes to clear the snow. My driveway is loose stone, I imagine Snow Thrower would work much better on concrete or other smoother surfaces. How about a switch to turn off lights?edskiis

Not a very strong machine. It couldn’t handle more than 1/2” of snow and battery only lasted 30 minutes. Shoveling went faster than using this machine. Blower chute kept moving during use so had to adjust often. It did have a good chute aim, easy to put together and not hard too use. Just wasn’t a good fit for my needs.new2thisjunk

I can’t even say enough good things about this! After setting the Greenworks snow thrower up I was able to get it right outside and put it to work! I was very impressed with how well it worked and the distance it threw the snow. It’s very lightweight and easy to push through the snow. I really like the lights that come on the snow thrower as it makes it easy to use during the evening when it’s getting dark outside. Being able to move the thrower side to side or even straight forward is a awesome feature as well! Another thing that surprised me was how long the battery stayed charged. I was outside for about an hour and it stayed running most of the time. My driveway looks great and I would defiantly purchase this again and highly recommend to anyone that gets snow and is tired of shoveling it.Cody7788

It does not let me update a previous review so I will write a new one. I got this model after returning another one with the metal auger because it was impossible for me to push it. This one I can push; however, it has a strange design flaw that I have not encountered with others. It throws a huge amount of snow through the front to the point that it is leaving a huge mess with powder and pieces of ice everywhere and you will end up covered in snow. When clearing the snow left by street, I am actually throwing pieces of ice to the cars parked across the street. Now, I have to figure out a way clear the driveway making sure I'm not pointing towards the front of the house or to the cars across the street. I contacted costumer service and they basically blew me off. Some R'Ceino guy sent a generic message about the machine being "so powerful" and closed the case with any change for me to ask more questions. I was hoping for some advice and was willing to change, upgrade to another one that does not do that but now, I will certainly try to get rid of it and switch to another brand.camz1

There is a lot to like about this snow blower. It is lightweight. It throws dry snow a very long distance and does an above average job with wet snow. The two batteries that came with the blower are sufficient to do my 85' double driveway and 300' of residential sidewalk; getting down to the pavement. Battery recharge time is good at about 1/2 hour. Be warned that the blower does NOT have any type of thermal or re-settable fuse; therefore if you hit some snowplow induced packed snow/ice it can cause the unit to stop working and be dead-dead-dead. EGO customer service replaced the unit within a week. The scraper bar on the bottom works well-maybe too well- as there is no angle to it, so when it hits an uneven part of a walk or driveway it will stop you dead in your tracks. A redesign of the scrapper bar could help with this.The only other complaint is that compared to the gas snowblowers I've had, this one does not pull through the snow. You have to forcefully push it through a 3-5" snow which is a noticeable downside for older folks. Overall I like the unit and would recommend for anyone who deals with occasional under 6" snowfalls.AMSRA

I just got this Fall 2020. very little snow but we did have some decent snow and the end of the driveway, maybe 10 inches high, thick, wet and heavy. this ripped right through it and granted i took it easy by only using half the blade width and using the push and pull technique – it worked and cleared it all. it did not throw it far but it was far enough. Easy to handle, quiet operation although the chute vibrates more than I thought it would but no big deal. Something not mentioned, you can easily control and get into areas you would not take a larger gas machine.. right up to the side of the house and wall, into tighter areas mostly because it is easy to control. the big jobs are yet to come but I am confident with proper technique it will handle it. one battery should allow me to do most jobs on one charge but I might go with a second battery if they come on sale – getting about 25 minutes.Tangodelta

Works great. The simplicity (a good thing) and ease of use vs. a gas blower is significant. Battery is outstanding (my driveway has space for 5 cars – battery always has more than 75% remaining). Cleans driveway very well, right down to the pavement (b/c it goes to down the the surface, it doesn't do well on gravel – not sure if this can be adjusted; not an issue for me). Would gladly purchase again, despite the cost.Josh C

I have used this blower to clean up 2 winter storms so far. I have been exceptionally happy with its performance. It cleans down to the pavement; throws the snow far across the lawn; even manages to clean up the plow row. I have been using Snow Joes for many years. This is my third purchase. The other two are still in my garage and still working. My first was the electric one. Worked great but the extension cord was something to work around. Bought the 21 inch battery operated Snow Joe. It came with 2 batteries; on occasion I had to use the second battery but never ran out of battery before I ran out of snow. It well out preformed its recommend use. The version has a heavy duty battery – and it has not run out of power yet! I am very happy with this more powerful Snow Joe. It is heavier than its little brother but still very easy to maneuver. It should be noted that I have a 24" gas powered snow blower in the garage – it is heavy, not easy to maneuver and requires gas (and oil). I love my Snow Joes and highly recommend them.Neccie
