Reviews:
I was hoping for so much from this product. Yesterday I took such a hot shower during lunch and then that evening when I gave my daughter a bath, it only came out lukewarm. My shower today was borderline cold. Tomorrow it may be hot again. I live in Northern VA and would not recommend this product. It ruins the experience of our new bathroom remodel. There's nothing worse than remodeling your bathroom to your dream bathroom and hearing your wife say, well that bath wasn't relaxing since she couldn't get hot water.ChristianMC
We purchased this unit about 1 month ago, replacing a Natural Gas water heater with 40g tank. The savings in space, and the removal of the fossil fuel device were our key drivers for this purchase. Our Electric bill has increased significantly, by about 50%, but because we never run out of hot water, showers tend to be longer. And now we can actually fill our tub with hot water without boiling extra water on the stove, so this also has increased our usage. There is an issue with temperature stability, when a toilet is flushed or other demand for water is turned on, the temperature swing is very noticeable. I have added a shower temp gauge, and have seen the temp drop from 42c to 39c when a toilet is flushed, it takes about 10-15 seconds to recover, and likewise, when the water demand drops, the temp goes up from 42c to 44.5c for several seconds. This shower valve has a pressure regulated flow control, so changes in the water will take some time to correct. Pros: Save on Space, endless hot water, retired fossil fuel appliance, not storing heated water we aren't using. Cons: High electricity costs, temperature changes when pressure changes for several secondsChris
Don't buy it…it's terrible,I bought the tempra24 plus from home depot, I installed all specified wires and circuits so it would work properly and efficiently but this this is horrible… my electric and water bill did go down even more than I had Anticipated but hate it…No constant temperature what so ever. I'm getting it removed and getting one installed by a professional.. the tempraplus was a waste of moneyBrian Lackie

Reviews:
Works great as long as you don't want to take a hot shower. Constant E5 code (cannot keep up with water flow) and shuts down the hot water so all you get is a cold shower. If you let the water just barly trickle outthen it heats up fine. I lost a lot of money setting this up only to find that it will not work unless the water is already warm. Now I have to spend more money to buy a tank hot water heater. Very disappointingRussell Randant
The tank failed and got water all in my house! I sent a warranty claim but never heard any response. I have sent pictures etc to show the product failed again i have yet to hear any response about the issue! Also i used the charts to decide what heater was right for my house but the unit never performed to our liking. It would barely put any water out if i would increase the flow it wouldnt heat the water up. Please contact me i'd love to share more detail.Daniel L
This water heater cannot handle 4.4 gallons per minute. It could not even keep up with my shower or kitchen faucet. It requires a lot of power too. It takes two 40 amp breakers and 8 guage wire to power the elements. When it cannot keep up, it flashes an error code and the troubleshooting guide suggests putting a flow regulator that limits it to 2 gallons per minute (less than half its advertised capacity).claytomcge_6

It works fine, but it arrived in a shipping box with no manufactruer box inside, just the water heater. One of the dials has come lose and I had to screw it back on. There was no manual. There was no power cord, but it may not have come with one ( I couldn’t tell you since I didn’t get a box or a manual). There was water inside the unit. I think someone must have gotten it before me and then returned it and factory pure didn’t notice- that or the falsely sold me a used unit. I went ahead and installed it, though, because I had already opened up my water line and removed the old unit. If anyone from factory pure is reading this, I’ll forgive you for a fifty dollar partial refund- that’s about what I’d have expected to save by buying used.cade j.
As for the breaker tripping in other homes, as a licensed electrician of 26 years, I would advise you to take an amperage reading during operation. Most home owners do not have multi meters with an amp clamp so that could be difficult I understand. If the heater is not drawing over 55 amp during operation you may have a defective circuit breaker, it happens. Try replacing your breaker. If the heater is drawing over 55 amps ther is a problem with the heater.Andy A.

Plumbing challenges expected as new unit was taller than old one. TP relief valve came installed on top but was not oriented squarely to our drain connection. Saw no mention in instructions whether it could be turned with a wrench or removed/relocated to the port on the side of the tank. Saw no mention in instructions as to the foam flaps that are present inside the threaded hot and cold inlet ports. Instructions as they are are probably fine for plumbers but not as good for do it yourself types.Do It Yourselfer
I installed this in my garage today (9/7/2022). The installation was conventional in every way. Empty, the tank is easily moved into position by one person. Wiring is basic 220V single-phase and the plumbing is simple using short Sharkbite flex lines between the tank and the homes copper water lines just as has been my practice for the past. No drips/no leaks. I particularly like that there is a pre-installed low-point drain spigot. This spigot is plastic but previous tanks that I have installed, I used metal spigots. So, I am hoping that that this plastic one will open and close without issues. I'll find out soon enough I suppose. This is the only questionable feature and only time will tell. Element life is another yet-to-be-determined aspect but I have confidence in AO Smith, my first one of this brand.Govner
My immediate impression is very good. The hardest part was figuring out how to get it home as I do not own a truck. I was able to borrow one had my wife and I were able to move it in place without little effort. I do not want to mislead anyone so understand that I prepared for this eventual water heater problems when I last installed using braided hose connections. By doing this it was simple to disconnect and then connect to a new tank without any need for plumbing mods. The wiring is extremely easy just make sure to completely fill the tank and check for water in your lines before energizing the power. Again, it was very easy for me using caution when moving the tank and pressurizing before energizing.John

7. Ge Smart 40 Gallon Short Electric Water Heater | Ge40s12blm

Product Details:
Specifications:
Weight | 154 oz |
Reviews:
My 15 year old GE water tank randomly broke 2 weeks ago thanks to my old pipes in my historic house. I searched to purchase a new one online but reviews were horrible for the ones at the big department stores. Disappointingly, Home Depot, nor Lowes no longer carries GE electric water tanks, so I came across this 50 gallon GE electric tank on the Total Home Supply Store website for roughly $600. And the best part of it was that I was able to use the service “Affirm” and am paying monthly payments for it until it’s paid off. Being a single mother whose financially struggling to keep up, this was literally a god send! My tank was delivered in one week and I had a friend set it up for me. The hardest part was just draining out the old tank, which wasn’t hard at all, just time consuming. This new GE tank is actually bigger then my old one too, the connections are so simple that anyone can figure them out. I’m hoping to get a good 10-15 years out of this one. We shall see! Best part of it all though, I finally have HOT water again! Haha. A BIG Thanks to GE for all the reliable appliances you’ve provided my family throughout the years. Being born and raised in Boston, Mass I can say that GE is a company I feel proud to stand behind and will never purchase a different brand of appliances!Tvon5432
I bought this water heater thinking that if I paid a few extra dollars for a smart one, I would save money on my electric bills long term. Wrong. The SmartHQ app that you have to use to control this heater is so lame that you cannot do something as simple as set a schedule to turn the heater off for a few hours in the middle of the night. You can manually turn the heater on and off or adjust the temperature from your phone – and that's it. My old dumb water heater had the same functionality, I just had to actually walk over to it. The horrible app is my biggest problem with this heater, but I should also point out that it arrived in an error state. The first time I turned it on, it began beeping and showed "F6" on the display. I started pressing buttons and got it to quit beeping, but I was unable to set the temperature or connect it to my phone. Luckily it was actually heating water to a default temperature, or else it would have been a much bigger problem. I ended up having to make several phone calls over the next week to GE customer service, with them telling me different things to try. Finally some one told me to press a sequence of buttons three times real quick, and that cleared the error. Weird. My entire house is full of GE appliances and have had really good experiences with all of them – except this one. Either save your money and get a non-smart version or try another brand with more capable controls.Steeler Dave
Excellent water heater for a large home. I purchased this due to the flex capacity. We have a home that has faucets and fixtures a far distance from the water heater. This water heater lets me get hot water to the entire house and increase capacity when I need to. So far I have just had to use it in normal mode. I love the Wi-Fi features in the ability to change the temperature in the mode with my phone. I also installed a scaleRX device on the input side. This water heater replaced and 80 gallon water heater.Kirkdk

"#sweepstakes" The heater I purchased was less expensive than most smaller units, I took a chance on it and very glad I did. It appears to be well made, easy to install and works great. I have bought high-end appliances and had the same issues as with economy brands only I spent much more money up front. Save your money and try a Richmond.Still in hot water

Nicely made unit. Clean lines, nice display, lightweight, easy to mount. You'll need a terminal box to wire it up since it comes with it's own pigtail cable (they don't want you to open up the case since it will void it's warranty, apparently; multi breaker units might be different), so I bought an inexpensive 60 amp A/C unit type cut-off switch box with a pull out switch. Just mount it near the heater on the wall and run your 6 gauge wire to it from your breaker panel. I just wish they had included adapters so that you can plumb it to 3/4" piping, so you'll have to buy your own if you wish to connect it to your existing 3/4" pipe. I had trouble using pipe dope (maybe it was too old or the wrong kind?), so I switched to Teflon tape (5 layers) on each fitting and that did the trick. Love the easy to turn dial, press to turn on/off feature and easy to read digital display which comes on when hot water is called for. Now, we'll see how long it lasts before some type of failure…scottcollins
so just got this unit instated and replaced 6 years old Titan (220watts)that just hasn't been getting up desire temperature lately. read bunch of reviews and this unit had better ratings . it was easy to switch from old unit as water and power hookups are almost the same . tested and it want keep up with fully open single sink , I had to reduce water flow at inlet pipe . did not measure but it seams im getting aprx. 2 gal a minute. no way to use 2 outlets at same time. btw we are in coastal northern Washington stateromanles

Reviews:
A year ago we purchased a new home. I asked the contractor to install a tankless water heater. He installed an electric A O Smith tank unit instead and claimed that he researched tankless units and that they could not keep up with the volume of hot water our three person family would need. We live in a community that provides treated well water. After a year our hot water smelled strongly of sulfer. We were told that the diode in our tank would have to be changed either with a very expensive diode or with the standard one but done annually. Unfortunately A O Smith installs the diode's with a robot or a person that is determined that it would never come out. Removal attempts turned the bolt into a perfectly round piece. It is sunk 6" into the tank which prevents use of a pipe wrench. A new water heater was required or we had to live with the smell. I did my own research and determined that this 2400w tankless unit should provide all of the hot water our family would ever need. I purchased it from Zoro on a Friday and it was on our porch on Sunday when we got home from church. I spent the day replacing the unit. The tankless works great. We are very pleased with it. We have a large tub in our master bath that would only fill half way before the water in the 40 gallon tank model turned cold. The tankless unit stays hot until you turn it off.j The bonus is this takes up only a fraction of the room that the old unit required.Guest
Although this seems like the way to go, I ordered this figuring it would be perfect for the Basement suite that I'm putting in. Ordered it, my contractor took a look at it and informed me that most serviced residential homes do not have enough amps going to them to be able to run this as well as everything else in your home, for a commercial lot it would be fine. That the service to the home would need to be upgraded, which is an even bigger expense. So beware as to whether you're able to use this.frustrated renos
I self installed the unit a week ago. Since my existing electrical panel only had room for one double pole breaker I had to install a 100 amp breaker and run to a sub panel for the two 50 amp breakers required for the unit. I was able to mount the sub panel and the water heater on the wall in the space formerly occupied by the tank heater. I also installed a sediment filter on the input side of the heater. The installation went smoothly and was completed in less than a day. So far the unit is supplying plenty of hot water for my wife and I. We are able to take long, hot showers with no drop in water temperature or water pressure. It can also handle the dish washer and the washing machine, but not at the same time. The unit is well constructed and the installation instructions are good. Total cost of the unit, sub panel, breakers and other fittings came out to less than $800. All and all we are very satisfied and would recommend this unit for any household with similar requirements: 2 people, dish washer and laundry. Three or more people may require a larger unit.

I bought this tankless water heater several years ago to put in a trailer house at the lake. It worked so well that I bought a second one for a houseboat. I read many reviews on different brands and decided on the Stiebel Eltron after researching. I have been completely satisfied and am glad that I chose this particular brand. #sweepstakesBG

Easier to install than removing the old tank unit. My wife was skeptical at first that this would be as good or better than our old unit with the idea of "unlimited" hot water and it didn't disappoint… We have a small house but both showers and washer can run all at the same time..actionmaytag
This water heater is perfect for my little house, endless hot water. Was somewhat of a challenge to DIY install but I made it happen. This unit drinks lots of power. Be sure you have room in your panel. Shark Bite fittings with copper plumbing is essential, much faster. Would definitely buy this again.rdricker81

For about 6 months it was working fine, then I turned on the hot water and it came out cold. I noticed smoke coming from the unit (ECO 8) and immediately ran for the circuit breaker to shut off. I notified the Eco Smart company through their website contact page, but they never even responded. $200 out the window, but fortunately the house didn't catch fire! To make matters worse, no warranty if you install it yourself! I'm not calling a plumber and electrician for such a simple installation.wutsitsa
Got to me fast and a really great movie.annhen0
This works very well although installing the electricity part was somewhat difficult because of the wire size fitting junction boxes located in the nearby cabinets. Plumbing parts were all available at my local Home Depot. I've reduced the temperature from 120 degrees twice now to 105 because the water becomes quite hot, especially if you turn it off and then back on where it has an opportunity to heat in place rather than simply flowing through the unit. I'm only using it to rinse a few items in the kitchen sink rather than having to wait until the main hot water unit, located 75' away, reaches my sink. And I did need to use Teflon Tape on the provided, 1/2" fittings,….souian

This is a great point of use water heater. We use it under our kitchen sink which is the worst one in the house when it comes to getting hot water. I connected it to the hot water line. The only downside is that you absolutely have to replace the anode on a regular basis (6 months to a year). It is inside the water heater and requires disconnecting wires and some disassembly. If you do not replace it, the water heater will corrode and leak. Otherwise it is fantastic.eben133
This is installed under a kitchen sink that is on the 3rd floor and the water heater is on the 1st so in the winter it could take up to 3 minutes to get warm water. Now it is instantaneous! Saves water and time. Pretty easy to install. I ordered the 4 gallon one first but after the garbage disposal was attached to the sink there wasn't enough room to accommodate the extra size. Perfect for my needs.KATHERINE
I use this unit to eliminate the TIME, WATER, & ENERGY WASTED in waiting for the hot water from the primary water heater (located in the garage) to reach the point of use. I am totally satisfied with the appearance, durability and performance of this unit. This is the second such unit I have purchased. Just check dimensions to be sure you have proper clearances.Guest

For the price you can't beat it. It will increase water Temperature 40 to 50 Degrees , which means if it's freezing outside , as is not working very well , BUT , I can tell you how to Make it Hotter. Put a T in the hot water side , then a valve, then a One Way Check valve, and then T back into the Cold water side ,, which also needs a One Way valve before your T . This heats the Cold water going into the heater and , makes it 15 degrees hotter mine was up to 130 degrees with outside air temp, around 40 .Zoro

pThis 9 kW unit was a warranty replacement for the first unit I installed. The issue with the first unit was that it showed a constant error code of "EF", which should mean the flow sensor isn't working. The circuit card logic was programmed incorrectly, however, which caused this error code to display even though there was not an issue with the flow sensor. Installation was easy. I tested the replacement unit to get some numbers on water temperature rise versus flow rate. It is February in southern Indiana and the water inlet temperature is 47 deg F. I was able to 108 deg F output water temperature at 2 GPM, and up to 131 deg F (unit maximum) at 1.5 GPM. The unit starts working with about 0.5 GPM flow./pS H.
pAirtherial Tankless water heaters have the design, look, feel and function of a well-engineered product. The matte black case and contrasting LCD display transforms a usually boring appliance into a nice "Wall Piece". However, after installation, I contacted the seller to resolve a fundamental hot/cold water issue, and found the representatives of Sain Store to be truly an example of excellence in customer service. The company reps (whom I contacted via phone and email) went far above and beyond my expectations to assist with resolving my issue and identifying the root cause. Ultimately, the problems experienced proved to be resultant of installer error, not an error with their product. I wholeheartedly recommend Airthereal Water heaters for their product quality & the manufacturer's post-sale customer service./pNWShopper007
I bought this water heater because my old tank heater went out. We had one of the big tank ones but it was like 25 years old. Anywho, installation was a tad difficult, but customer service is there for you! Now thats its all hooked up we have hot showers again!! Hot throughout the entire shower and my husband got in right after me and said the same thing!! Works good for the kitchen sink to! I live in Tn.Paula M.

19. Iheat 12 Kw Real-Time Modulating 2.3 Gpm Electric Tankless Water Heater

Product Details:
The heat electric tank less water heater s-12 model has the capacity of heating 2. 3 gpm which is the equivalent to 1 showers (at 1. 5 gpm each), and 1 sinks (at 0. 75 gpm each) simultaneously, or any combination which equals to 2. 3 gpm. anything north of these states the s-12 s-16 can be used for point of use, or 1-application at a time. a good rule of thumb is if you live in the southern states mentioned here the s-12 can power a 1 to 3 bedroom 2 bathroom home, including dishwasher and clothes washer, please keep in mind that tank less water heaters are designed to heat incoming water at a maximum output temperature based on simultaneous use and inlet water temperatures. so if your demand for hot water decreases your output water temperatures will increase, as well as if you live in the colder states this s-12 will heat less volume of water, this will cause the s-12 to be used in point of use applications in the colder climates. 5" l x 7. 7" w x 11. 5" h.

Additionally the unit is marked at 208 volts it's 29 amps, at 220 volts it's 31 amps and at 240 volts is 33 amps. I called the number on the unit to get clarification and was told to hire an electrician. I continue to ask him technical questions and he said he's not an electrician I asked him if I could be connected with someone more technical and again was told to hire an electrician.. I am a retired electrical engineer and this is very basic however accurate information is required. Calling for 8 gauge wire protected by a 30 amp breaker requires explanation… The national electric code identifies a 30 amp breaker with 10 gauge wire. When asked if the documentation identifying 8 gauge wire was a misprint the representative at iheat would provide no other information other than hire an electrician and hung up on me. I find this very troublesome from many aspects. I'll attempt to update this post after installation.Rocket man

My old 80 gallon hot water tank was on it's way out so I did research on a replacement. I could replace the tank with another 80 gallon hot water heater (no thanks), I could go with a hybrid 80 gallon hot water heater (not bad), or I could go with a tankless system (ideal). There are pros and cons to each but I ended up choosing the Rheem 27kw tankless hot water heater. I read good and bad reviews on this system but I have nothing but great things to say. I had to have an electrician come and install an additional (2) 40 amp breakers and 8/2 wire for around $450 so I had a total of 3 lines hooked up to the system (essentially 1 line/breaker for each heating element). At first I was getting only luke warm water so I called Rheem tech support and the advisor was extremely helpful and told me to check a few things. Within 10 minutes it was working perfectly. (The issue had to do with the install, not the product). Be sure you're getting 240V to each element before your electrican leaves. Nevertheless, we initially set the temp to 140 and was way too hot. We dialed it down to 125 and it is perfect. We have 4 full bathrooms, kitchen, laundry, etc. We can easily have 3 showers on simultaneously. Best part is the hot water never runs out and ultimately saves you money. 2 thumbs up!Dindrunas
