Best Facial Hair Removal Device (2024 Update)

I bought this for my upper lip and chin hairs. Maybe it works for larger, flatter areas like legs (I haven't tried it for that yet) but it doesn't work on smaller, more rounded areas. The instructions say the light will remain constant when it's working properly but the light flashes on and off when I try to do my upper lip and chin. For me, this was a waste of money.AZSharon

The best thing about this dermaplaning tool is it’s price! It’s a great dermaplaning tool for beginners. I had been afraid to take the plunge out of fear of cutting my face. This tool was so easy to use. It took a few minutes to learn how to best use on my face. But it does work! It left my skin soft as my baby’s skin. It does get the peach fuzz off, but it takes multiple times going over the same area. This is why I gave 4 stars. I wish that it was a little sharper to get the hair and dead skin off easier. I loved how easy and convenient this machine is to use. Listen friends, waxing gave me what looked like a serious hormonal acne that had my dermatologists perplexed. They prescribed tretinoin, benzoyl peroxide etc. but nothing worked. It happened again recently and I was able to pinpoint the problem on my own. It was waxing that did this so when I read an article of dermaplaning I was hesitant but desperate to find something to replace my waxing habit. So, I did my homework, weighed the pros and cons and I went in and tried dermaplaning with this product and boy is it a game changer. It works for me! I'm medium (olive/tan skin) and I was worried it wouldn't work but so far its not painful for me and I can see a difference in hair. It doesn't do a good job with my thick chin hairs but it's great for upper lip that are finer hairs and for my legs and pits. I purchased this product last summer and began using it immediately. I love that I don't need to purchase gels to use with this, like many other machines, because I'm allergic to the ingredients in the gels. I used this for 5 weeks and really began seeing results mid-summer. I had to discontinue use of this due to pregnancy. However, it's February now, and I can still see the results. I still have a lot of hair growth, because I didn't use it for the full 8 weeks, but all hair that was removed during the summer is still gone. It has not grown back. Please understand that hair grows in cycles. This machine is only supposed to be used once per week for 8 weeks…possibly a little longer. While we may be impatient and want to get faster results, using it more frequently will not yield faster/better results because hair grows in cycles. You can't kill hair growth after you already killed it. You also can't kill hair growth that is not in active growing stage yet. I really started to notice results after 4 weeks of use because I was able to see the thinning of the hair that was growing in. After the 8 weeks of use are done, you may still need to use a round of it from time to time, as we develop new hair follicles every so often. This does not mean that the machine doesn't work. It simply means, your body is producing more hair follicles. This machine promises to get results in the same amount of time as getting your hair professionally removed. Compared to the price of that, this machine is pennies! I can't wait to start using it again and hopefully be finished with my use of it by summer time so I don't have to deal with shaving so much during the summer, ugh! The only negative I can say about this machine is that the light is incredibly bright…making it uncomfortable to use when you have a migraine. I too had high hopes for this product after having done lots of research. I too have fair skin and dark hair which should be the ideal combination for success. I followed all manufacturers recommendations for preparation prior to use. I "used up" the flash head that came with the unit and the overall result is absolutely no change in either the amount of hair or it's rate of regrowth. (Reality check…. the flash is used up when it no longer fires…. not after 5000 or however many flashes. That is a scam on an already overpriced item of questionable value) I went so far as to only use the unit on the high setting and was doing two, 10 minute sessions per day. Still no visible results. Great packaging…… convincing sales and video presentation on the ME web site……. but none of those things translate into an effective device. For what it does the price should be in the $10 to $15 dollar range. For close to $400 I expect to see results. Do not buy! It's a huge waste of money.BikerReverend

I've found that over the last few years (I just turned 30), it looks a bit thicker and longer than it was in my youth– and I've started looking into ways to remove it as it is unsightly in the sun/selfies. I've tried waxing but it always left me with irritation. I also just started using a retinol so waxing is no longer an option. Tweezing would take forever, and going for threading at a salon is not an option during a pandemic. I was skeptical of this tool based on the very mixed reviews but I decided to give it a try and use the advice some of the reviewers left. I'm very pleased with the results and so far have not had any irritation! So here is what worked for me: -At first it did not work. But that was because I was a dummy and didn't clean my face first (moisturizer is not your friend in this circumstance). I used a baby wipe to wipe down my chin/lip and let it dry… and THEN it worked. I also kept the baby wipe on hand and wiped down the area as I went, and wiped the tool too to keep it clean and grippy. SO– use it on CLEAN skin with NO product. -It worked for me both in the direction of hair growth AND opposite hair growth, but was MORE effective when I held it upside down in a U shape and went UP on my face so it was pulling the hairs opposite the hair growth– and this manoeuvre felt similar to threading. -It did seem to break some of the very fine/shorter hairs, but for the most part it removed the longer hairs from the root. It did not remove ALL the hairs, but removed enough that it does not show up in close up selfies, and honestly looks more natural than waxing because there are still SOME teeny tiny hairs. -Once I got the hang of how to use it, it only took about 5 min to do my entire lip and chin. I found it was more effective the quicker I went, and was less painful than tweezing/waxing! I kept my slanted tweezers handy and ended up plucking a few stray hairs but it was QUICK!kaffeinejunkie

This is my second time buying this product after my first one died on me after 4 years of use. I absolutely love this product. It is a wholleee staple in my life. I grow facial hair on my whole face (thanks to my hispanic father) and this right here gets rid of that in 2 seconds. The hair on my face will generally start to grow back around 2 weeks or so later before I take another two seconds to rid of it. No pain (seriously.ZERO PAIN) The light is useful for seeing. You wont get nicked with this. The price is around $17-19.99 depending on where you go (thats a great price for magnificent quality). It’s gentle on the skin (I have sensitive skin). If you feel like it’s not working like it used to, change the battery. I think in the 4 years of owning my first one, i changed the battery maybe 3 times. I highly recommend this product. I don’t only recommend it, i am TELLING you to buy it. If you needed a sign, this is the sign. Side comment: please take note that the new version has the word “flawless” on the side. Works for my needs, but unfortunately it doesn’t work for very long. 1st one purchased lasted about 6mos. 2nd one purchased lasted about 1 month. Poor construction I am guessing. Always seams to be something with its internal wiring. I use it to trim my eyebrows, so use it about 3- per month. I’m guessing it should last longer….not going to spend another $10bucks. Truthfully, it works best for nose hairs. I had bought the 'flawless' model for the fine hairs around my lips & jawline & it is great – 5 stars. But it isn't shaped to get at nose hairs. This one is, so I got it, too. Both have become an easy part of my routine. (I dealt with the depilatory creams so long & dreaded using them. Very happy to toss those.) Now, every few days I take (literally) about 1 minute to go over any area that needs attention. Not only is the hair not growing back thicker, it's also not growing back as fast. That was a nice surprise. I have one for the master bath & one for the guest bath, which will go into my travel bag as needed.Vikki

I was really hoping this item would be worth the price as it is really cute and small enough for tiny areas but unfortunately for me it does not do the job. If you are undergoing laser hair removal, you will be advised not to wax or pluck at all between appointments. You are advised to only "shave". I used this for some facial hair but it did not cut very close if at all. I was better off just using a regular electric razor, Bummed.Rosemary

I have been using this product off on for a couple of years. It works well when it works. However, it tends to get clugged up really easily. Even when you clean it out thoroghly it still isn't as clean as you think it is. Because there is a part in the top where you screw it on, and you cannot see all the hair that builds up in there. So, you even need to take that piece apart. But, be careful this is a little tricky because there are a lot of mall parts that can get lost. I suggest you use tweezers to this process on a table if you do not want lose any of those pieces. Overall, I would not recommend this product for an adolescent or someone who is unable to keep up with the cleaning process of this prosuct. I mention an adolescent not using the flawless facial shaver because he is the one responsible for clogging it up when shaving his little mustache. lolMelissa

This is the first dermaplaning tool I have ever used. It took a little getting used to but worked great. The next day I realized I had missed a few spots. It should get easier the more I use it. As I aged, my face was getting so fussy. It is now super smooth. The first time, my skin felt a little numb after using it. Can’t really explain it. I jwished they included better instructions on how to remove the head. I kept trying to pull it off instead of slide it off.Debbie W.

Works pretty well. I don't like that it claims to be okay to use on dry skin but for me it's definitely not alright. I only use it on two small parts of my face since it makes my dry skin a thousand times worse. It shipped out and arrived really quick. The design makes it easy to use. Had to order the precision blades too because its a but hard to be precise with the blade that comes on the tool. The handle is quite smooth so I make sure my hands are dry to keep my grip on it. I first found this product after telling my friend about a recent trip to Jamaica, in which I got mascara in my eyes after going into the water. She asked why I would have mascara on at the beach, at which point I told her I wear a face full of makeup at the beach. Although that has always been my norm, I realize for most people it is not, and the reason I have always immediately applied makeup as soon as I get out of the shower is because my skin has always been very uneven (dark spots, scars, etc) I don't even like my husband seeing me without makeup. I have tried chemical peels and laser lightening to no avail. I heard about derma-planning and thought about going to a med spa to have this done since it was the one thing I haven't tried. Then I thought 'why go have it done if I can do it myself? It can't be that hard.' I did a Google search for tools and the Stacked Skincare website popped up. With extremely low expectations (based on my history of trying treatments and having minimal results) I gave this tool a whirl. I thought about taking before and after pictures but I truly thought the results would be so minimal that it would be pointless. Now I wish I had. I can honestly say that this tool far exceeded my expectations and got my skin to a place I did not think I could get. My dark spots have been sloughed off, although they are still there, they are much lighter. My raised scars have been dramatically reduced and my skin is much softer now. I will say that I use this with several products, many from Stacked in addition to 100% silicone gel), but I credit this derma planning tool for making the biggest change because I know my skin wouldn't be where it is without it. I would caution people not to overuse it (initially I had because I was excited) because it will dry out your skin, but if you use it as directed (and be patient!), within a few weeks you should see significant improvement to your skin. I've read a few reviews in which people feel it is too expensive. I have a couple of thoughts about that: in my experience, you often get what you pay for. You could buy cheaper tools (Kohl's, CVS, etc), but they probably aren't the same quality and won't last. Also, if you have this done at a med spa, you're paying double the price of the tool – per visit! I know this is a long review but I wanted to be as informative as possible for anyone else who is on the fence and is as skeptical as I was. I have owned this trimmer for just about a year and am still pleased with it. The only thing I wish could be improved is the speed of the trim. My cheap, discarded, $10 nose hair trimmer cut much quicker, but would often nick the inside of my nares. I have not once been nicked by this trimmer. Product: Precision Satin Compact precision trimmer Face/Body Hairs: I received a sample of this product in exchanged for my unbiased review. I suffer from embarrassing facial and body hair that mostly affect my upper lip, chin, arm, and navel areas. The Phillips trimmer is a well designed product that exceeded my expectations. Assembly: The product required very little assembly. The instruction manual provided clear and vivid instructions on how to assemble and use the product. It was pretty easy to switch between the two trimming heads once I figured out how to detach the head from the trimmer. My only challenge involved removing the cover to the battery compartment. I found it to be very difficult to twist open. Trimming: The product provided a very precise trim. I was able to remove my unwanted facial and body hairs with relative ease, and as a result, I was left with silky smooth skin. I did not have to go over the areas I trimmed more than once, as I had to do with similar products. I also did not experience any cuts or burns while using the product. Problems: The trimmer is not as compact as it claims to be. It is rather long, bulky, and bright, which makes it more noticeable than discreet. When the product is turned on, it is pretty loud. This not only made it obvious that I was using the product, but it also bothered my ears. The protective cap is also big and does not fit on the trimmer securely.ShondaB

The Philips Precision Trimmer comes in a nice small box- fitting for a small device, since I was genuinely worried that it may come in a some sort of large and bulky and completely unnecessary packaging. The device itself resembles a nice pen, therefore, not big, and very comfortable to hold in one's hand. It is powered by a single AAA battery and comes with a cleaning brush and a precision attachment. The instructions on the box are given in a super simple picture format, therefore I had no questions on how to use the product. Once turned on, the trimmer emits a gentle (at least to me) buzzing noise- as you would expect- without giving me any fear that it will cause me any discomfort. I am a female with a tendency to have somewhat prominent hairs above the top lip, therefore, I was really excited to try out the trimmer. It glided through my face with ease and actually removed more 'fuzz' than I knew I had. Also, I have a medium sized mole/bump on my face too and I did not feel like that got in the way at all. The only minuscule issue I had was the eyebrow trimming/shaping. I have added the attachment but don't believe I have achieved much of the precision I was hoping for, since I was just too worried to go anywhere too close and make any mistakes. Therefore, I can only say that the device works really well for actually trimming all the hair, but cannot say much for using it for more precise applications.leilaeda

I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. Overall, I liked the product. I was hesitant at first to try something to trim facial hair since I typically get waxes; however, I was pleasantly surprised. The product was easy to use although the directions consist of pictures and arrows pointing in the direction to move the trimmer rather than describing it with words. My personal preference is a combination of both. I first used it to try trimming light hair on my upper lip (it is fairly blonde hair that I previously waxed). The trimmer was wonderful! When waxing I often get small zits or irritated skin, but with this trimmer, I did not have any of those side effects. I also tried it on my eyebrows (and admittedly I was much more hesitant about it!). I did not notice a difference when using the extension fully on my eyebrows but that might be because my eyebrows were too `short` for the extension to pick up any. I used it on small hairs around my eyebrow shape (without the extension attached) and it worked really well. Last, the instructions indicated that it can be used at the bikini line and it worked great there, too! A problem I ran into was that half of the head of the trimmer can come off to clean inside of it as needed. After checking this out, I popped this half of the head back on and the product stopped working altogether. I finally got it to work again by taking the half of the head off again, turning the power button to `on`, and attaching the head while it was running. These instructions are not in the instruction manual`s `troubleshooting` guide, so I hope this helps someone out. I have been using the Braun Mini Hair Remover regularly since I got it. I received it compliments of Pinchme. I was so excited to receive and it is something I would recommend everyone has. I have used it around some stray hairs around the eyebrow area. I find it takes seconds to use this and keep everything groomed. I'm more likely to use this than tweezers, since it's so easy. I was letting things go often before I had this. It's the size of lipstick. It has cap and cleaner brush. I wish it had a little pouch, but I can find one easy enough. I find the light on it more useful than I thought. I do recommend lightly pulling skin taught if it's a plump area so that you avoid any knicks…just as you would do with a nonmechanical razor.jessica_fl_7w6rv

So in love with my new Braun face mini hair remover. I've got the chance to use several hair remover devices for my face and body from this brand before this new one and I love all of them deeply. This mini facial hair remover is a lovely product.It gently shaves all the peach fuzz on my face and leave a smooth skin.It didn't hurt or make my skin red as it doesn't pull the hair like an epilator or twitzers would do. Every single hair could be seen,thanks to the built-in smartlight,so no spot is missing. After use,there's no mess on my clothes or in the sink as the hair stay inside,which later I can open to clean with the added little brush it came with. The hair remover is so quick and easy to use.It's light,very small and fits perfectly in the palm of my hand.It's really handy and discreet to bring on the go in a handbag,purse of even just pop it in the pocket. After shaving my skin feels so soft,beautiful and isn't sensitive at all.My make-up glides effortlessly well and look so seamless. It needs an AA battery to work and there's one in the box.This is the only thing that I don't like,as it would've been great if it was a rechargeable device instead. I was a little worried that this wouldn't remove the small hair at first, but I turned it on, and moved it over my upper lip. I love that this is battery powered and not rechargeable. This means I don't have to wait to have it charged to use. I also love that it handles multiple hair issues with all the different heads. I used this product with my wife. We have been using the SmoothSkin Pure Mini once a week for about 4 weeks now as the directions instructed. The manual says that you can do a full body treatment in as little as 10 minutes, but it took 10 to 15 minutes to do both full legs. The product has 2 settings, regular and sensitive, the difference is the brightness/strength of the light flash. There is an internal fan because the bright light does produce heat, it sounds like a quiet hair dryer. It is very easy to use, just put the window side flush against your skin and push the button (either regular or sensitive) and it will emit a bright flash against your skin. There is a sensor that detects if the window is completely flush against the skin and if it isn’t it will not flash. For areas where it is not flat skin (ex: knees) there is a magnetic attachment that fits over the window that makes the window area smaller allowing for the product to be flush against the skin and flash. There was no discomfort, redness or irritation when using the product. After about 10 minutes of use the flashes do get warmer and warmer which can cause discomfort, I just waited a minute or two for it to cool off a little and continued the treatment. We used the sensitive setting on the inside of the thighs and on the back of the knee area since these are more sensitive areas and the flashes on the regular setting were a little hot. My wife has light skin and light hair on her legs and the instructions say it works best on darker hair, so she was a little skeptical on whether this would work for her. It wasn’t until after her second treatment (week 2) that she noticed a change in the growth of hair on the treated area compared to the non-treated tattooed area. The hair was not growing back as quickly in the treated areas because it was shorter than the tattooed area hair. I noticed that some of the thicker hairs were not coming as thick and a little squirrely (not straight) which made me think the treatment was affecting the hair follicles. We will continue using this product and doing the weekly treatments for the full 12 weeks and I will update this review when the treatment is done.PaulieB1

Home IPL devices for hair removal can really be hit or miss. Sometimes they work great, but suffer from slow speed or the bulbs don't last very long. Other models just don't work very well at all. With the Smoothskin Mini those problems don't see to be an issue at all and the results are great. The device itself is incredibly compact, making it very easy to manuveur and get it angled exactly how you need it to get both large and small areas of skin. It's comfortable to hold and overall the design supports an easy use. The Mini has several really amazing features that help make the entire process effortless. The first being the skin contact sensor that measures your skin tone before each light pulse, which makes sure you are using the strongest but safest light pulse for each pulse. It also sports several intensity and comfort settings to make sure that you have all the control and aren't in pain while using the device. All of this with a very quick firing light makes using the Mini effortless and incredibly quick compared to previous IPL devices I've used. The results are really great. After about 6 weeks I've seen really noticable results and because it's so easy to use is one reason I think the results will last. I don't dread using it and don't have to commit an hour to a treatment so continual use will be no problem. Smoothskin Mini IPL hair remover does what it says. Instructions are clear and easy to understand. Comes with 2 comfort modes and three intensity levels for sensitive areas and more stubborn thicker hair and an attachment for precision it comes in handy for smaller spots. It has an automatic detection for skin tone so it measure what light level is needed. I am covered in tattoos so I did try it first on a small part of a leg tattoo that could easy be fixed if it damaged the color of it but had no issues using it on them. I love the compact size but I do wish it was wireless so I could use it anywhere in a more convenient comfortable spot in my house rather then plugged in the cord is long enough but that’s just me prefer cordless. I started with my armpits and bikini area once a week as directed those spots have the thicker hair on my body I noticed the difference of less hair growth in about 3 weeks but feel like if you had more thick corse hair it will take longer, I’ve shaved my armpits less often the hair also that grows back is thinner I hope eventually I won’t have to shave at all yay! I did my legs which the hair is very thin it takes about maybe 15-20 mins to do both legs entirely I’ve seen the difference with hair growth much more in a few weeks some spots hair has not grown back at all I do rub vitamin E oil on my legs and other areas on my body about 30 mins after to soothe my skin although it’s nothing like waxing no skin irritation at all. I’ve been very pleased with the Smoothskin brand. I high recommend if you don’t want to keep paying to go have it done or for in between sessions.pinkbat

I have to admit I've bought cheaper no-name versions from a large online retailer and did NOT have the same results as this one. The main difference is with the cheap no-name versions, I had to pass over the area multiple times which led to facial irritation. This hair remover was a lot more effective at getting those little hairs around my mustache and eye area for smooth makeup application, with way less irritation. I would love it if it were rechargable, but I'm glad it works well.Saharah

This facial hair remover is very lightweight, sleek, and portable (battery operated, just one). It's designed for fine hair removal I guess that's way it's not very strong and it doesn't remove thicker hair on the face, making it less useful. It's quiet and comes with an LED light on the head. The lid is hard for me to remove or open to clean after usage due to the lack of gripping design. Nipping can happen, so one still has to be careful. It's definitely not comparable to a real razor, not built for that purpose.Jenny

This facial hair remover fulfills its promise. It’s stylish and sleek-looking. It removes facial hair without discomfort, quickly and efficiently. I found that It's a bit larger than another brand that I had used before. At first it wasn’t as easy to manipulate, but with a little practice, and an awareness of the size difference combined with frequent use a comfortable habit was created within a few days. Since it’s powered by a single battery (included), it’s understandable that it’s not as powerful as the built-in lithium battery operated shaver, nevertheless, it removes the peach fuzz on my face effortlessly and painlessly. I started growing hair around my nipples, on my chin, and even my toes in my early twenties. A couple years ago it became so bad that people thought I had acne from the constant picking on my chin. I've had laser hair removal completed in a dermatologist office multiple times (4-6x each at different offices over many years), I've also owned several at home devices. Nothing has ever worked long-term. I've owned my tria for almost a year and a half. It has changed my life. On my neck, chin and upper lip I have seen a 98% decrease in hair growth. Consistency is key. It is difficult in the beginning but it gets much easier and less painful as the laser decreases the amount of hair growth over time. I started using a topical lidocaine but after around 4 treatments I no longer needed it. Now I use weekly for maintenance and it takes maybe 2 minutes in the morning to just zap and move on with my day. I use it every week. I am now working on my arms and legs. The only downside is how time consuming it is to treat larger areas, I wish there was a larger tria. I would highly recommend this device. For those of us with excessive hair growth, stick with it and this will change your life. (Note I am fair skinned with dark hair, I am in my late 30s and have a few grey's starting, the tria does not work on those.)Nicole

Ok so I’m a blonde so this didn’t do much for my hair but to be fair I gave up pretty early on. BUT you guys—it ANNIHILATED my spider veins. I’m so pasty white I’m literally translucent and I had 3 kids in 3 years and I had all sorts of little spider veins all over my thighs. I did a lot of googles about different lasers and this one is very similar to the ones they use in doctors offices to get rid of blue and purple spider veins. It absolutely does! I wish I took more before and after! Here’s a couple of tips—you’ll know when you hit a spider vein bc it’ll hurt. But sometimes you’ll be right over a vein and not feel anything. My tip—go slightly off center and kind of play around w tilting the laser at different angels. You’ll feel it, you’ll nail that vein and in a few weeks it’ll just slowly fade away. It doesn’t work immediately for the veins, but it absolutely works. Also, try doing it right after you get out of a warm bath, your veins will be more noticeable.Laura

This is part of my "holy grail" items. I have a condition which increases facial hair, so I'm constantly trying to groom my cheeks, chin, upper lip and neck so I don't have a beard.
