It is emollient without being greasy or heavy. It is suitable for all skin types but is designed to hydrate dry parched skin and is safe for sensitive skin. It is formulated with collodial oatmeal, shea butter, allantoin, ceramides and FAB's antioxidant booster. These ingredients work together to moisturise and soothe the skin. The tub says to apply from head to toe once or twice daily. I found that this was perfect for moisturising my body as it didn't leave my body feeling sticky like some creams do. It took some rubbing in to get rid of the white cast, but once it's worked into the skin it absorbs quickly. I did feel a bit of tingling on my skin, which I assume is from the eucalyptus oil and I can smell a slight hint of it in the cream. I was surprised to find that it also worked well for my face. Even with the most simple routines, no actives and just a serum or an oil it pills. A lot. Creates this gunk on your cheeks and jawline mixing with other ingredients in your routine. I keep it pretty ‘clean’ when it comes to my products and nothing else I use makes my face sticky, pill or any of that annoying stuff. This product though? I rarely experience it not pilling or, worse, turning into sludge just after using a couple of my pricey products that I feel are almost wasted when I use this over them. I tried this product and received a full rebate in exchange for my honest opinion. The Aveeno Calm Restore Oat Gel Moisturizer comes in a wonderful packaging, crystal clear glass container which is much smaller than the outside box – 48gms only. Once you open it, the color of the moisturizer (dirty white) is not so much soothing nor is the fragrance. It says fragrance free on the box so I assume what I smell is coming from oats/other ingredients used. Nothing additionally added.However, once you apply on your skin, it seems fragrance free, it gets absorbed super quick, leaves no residue. What you see in the picture is after 2 hours of cream and no cream on other side. It retains without being sticky/heavy onto the skin and feels super soft and supple. The moisture barrier feels real and restores the skin, even in extreme dry weather.In conclusion, I would recommend this to people who have dry/sensitive skin and want the nourishment of oats with relaxing and light gel moisturizer. I was absolutely in love with this moisturiser. The day i ran out was a very sad day. For context I have oily skin and can only speak for that (i don't know how it would fair for dry skin or acne for e.g.). I purchased a trial size. I used it twice a day (morning and night). It is a very lightweight formula with a slight oat scent. The moisturiser immediately absorbed into my skin and didn't leave a tacky or sticky after-feel like some moisturisers i've tried. It's hydrating but not oily/greasy which my oily skin girlies know is a huge bonus!! I did not experience any sensitivity nor irritation even though i have seen a couple reviews saying so. If anything, on a couple instances, my skin was highly irritated from an active ingredient i had introduced and i truly found this moisturiser calmed and soothed my skin. Even with the most simple routines, no actives and just a serum or an oil it pills. A lot. Creates this gunk on your cheeks and jawline mixing with other ingredients in your routine. I keep it pretty ‘clean’ when it comes to my products and nothing else I use makes my face sticky, pill or any of that annoying stuff. This product though? I rarely experience it not pilling or, worse, turning into sludge just after using a couple of my pricey products that I feel are almost wasted when I use this over them. This is the most overrated overpriced lotion I have ever used. I suffer from dry skin already and my hands are worse than the rest because I'm always doing something with them that involves getting dirty and needing to be washed. After reading so many reviews on different kinds of lotions and everyone insisting this was the best I decided to try it. I noticed it wasn't working great first day but I decided maybe its one of those you have to keep doing. But now I've had this for awhile, used it daily and am am almost out and it absolutely has made no difference in my skin. It almost seems like it's made it worse because I find myself having to reapply this throughout the day. I was using Jergens before this and it worked much better than this. I also have used the super cheap suave lotion in the past and even with it leaving you greasy I would 100% use that again over this. Amazing cream! I use this in place of a night cream or on days that my skin feels dry and needs an extra boost. It's highly moisturising and non irritating, which is perfect for sensitive skin. Love that there is no unnecessary added fragrance either. Can be used on both your body and face. It's one of those products that actually does what it says and works so much better than high end products. If you follow Dr Dray on Youtube then you will already know that she also recommends this cream a lot as well, especially for people using retinoids. I've been applying it alongside my Differin gel to combact dryness from it's use. After washing my face, I rub in a thin layer of this cream onto my damp skin (to lock in moisture) and follow with Differin after it's dry. Using it in this way as suggested by Dr Dray reduces the risk of irritation, but still allows the retinoid to be effective. Even if you are using it on it's own, the Cerave Cream will work brilliantly to soothe and soften your dry skin. It has great ingredients including ceramides which improve skin hydration. Full disclosure I was entirely prepared to hate this and give it a bad review as it wouldn’t work for me like most others didn’t but I’m so glad I was proved wrong. I’m someone who is sooo picky when it comes to moisturizers because I always hated how thick and oily they felt on my skin. While I do have combination leaning oily skin I was a bit apprehensive on its claims but I truly 100% am loving this. It is super lightweight which is something I always try to find in any moisturizer because I need for it to be lifht right AND effective. It sinks into your skin fairly quickly and doesn’t leave the skin feeling wet at all. Makes true on its fragrance free promise bc i can’t smell a thing and my skins gotten a bit more sensitive as I got older so that’s great! I’ve been wearing it as my moisturizer under my makeup and I really like how it feels. First impression when unboxing: The box and bottle are the same as the traditional packaging, simple, effective, pleasing to the eye. I opened the flip cap and took a whiff, there’s a light scent that reminds me of tanning lotion/sunscreen (kind of like that cooking bacon-esque scent). I read other reviews saying that a little goes a long way so I squeezed out a pea sized amount. The formula is super light, and is a water gel consistency (which made me nervous for the mattifying factor). I started with the back of my hand to see a comparison. A little definitely went a long way, and traveled up my entire forearm. I compared my hands and the hand with the product was significantly less shiny, and all of the cracks (it’s cold and dry where I am at the moment) were blurred. I tried it on my face and it definitely mattified my oily areas, but I wasn’t sure how hydrated I was. This can be a good and a bad thing depending on how you look at it. It wasn’t greasy and didn’t leave behind a film, but at the touch it felt like I didn’t have anything on and felt like I needed to reapply. When I did reapply though, it felt like I overused product so it definitely achieved its claim to fame. My skin used to run on the oily side until I really got into skincare. Now my skin is more normal, though still acne prone.I've been using this moisturizer daily, AM PM. it does the job, but I don't mind a more hydrated look, hell, even feeling more hydrated would be nice too – something I'm not really getting with this moisturizer. If you like a more matte moisturizer, then this one is for you. I received this product complimentary from First Aid Beauty to review and give my honest opinions. This ultra repair cream has a rich thick balm texture. It is emollient without being greasy or heavy. It is suitable for all skin types but is designed to hydrate dry parched skin and is safe for sensitive skin. It is formulated with collodial oatmeal, shea butter, allantoin, ceramides and FAB's antioxidant booster. These ingredients work together to moisturise and soothe the skin. The tub says to apply from head to toe once or twice daily. I found that this was perfect for moisturising my body as it didn't leave my body feeling sticky like some creams do. It took some rubbing in to get rid of the white cast, but once it's worked into the skin it absorbs quickly. I did feel a bit of tingling on my skin, which I assume is from the eucalyptus oil and I can smell a slight hint of it in the cream. I was surprised to find that it also worked well for my face. It layered well on top of my serums and absorbed into my skin. My face felt nice and moisturised and this got rid of my dry patches. ive been using this for the last few day and i like it, its a 3 step skincare routine with prodcts to soothe, prep and moisturise the skin. The Thermal Spring Water is a spray can which you just spray then leave a few mins before patting dry. this leave face feeling cool and refreshed. Then use the Hydrance Intense Rehydrating Serum which comes in a pump top bottle so is easy to dispense. really lightweight cream with a pleasant odor. I say surprisingly because I’ve purchased so many beauty products that promise one thing or another and do absolutely nothing. My dermatologist recommended this brand to me for my incredibly (ridiculously) sensitive skin. My 55 yr old skin is dry on the chin and cheeks and oily on the nose and forehead. I'm lucky in that I don't have sensitive skin, I can literally put anything on it and it will still mostly behave itself. So why did I buy a cream formulated for sensitive skin? Because of the multiple occlusives at the top of the ingredients list (primarily squalane, but also shea butter and dimethicone). Occlusives form a barrier that prevent your skin from losing moisture and they're great for layering over other moisturizers like hyaluronic acid, especially if you have dry skin and live in a dry climate like I do. I layer this La Roche-Posay moisturizer over my Lumene Nordic-C Brightening Beauty Lotion (which isn't actually a lotion, it's watery like a toner). The two together leave my skin plump, hydrated and glowy without being shiny or greasy looking. It does take a little while to completely sink into my skin (about 30 minutes) but I don't mind because as I mentioned, it doesn't look greasy while it's soaking in. My skin feels so soft and it looks great, I've even been able to stop wearing makeup because this eliminated the dullness that my dry skin had. I also used this once right after I rinsed off a pumpkin enzyme mask that was burning/stinging my skin and it instantly eliminated the burning and provided immediate relief, it was so soothing!tesee
I really loved the cream, thought I'd be buying this for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, the fancy air-less pump stopped working on the last package I purchased. Now there is probably 2/3rd of the product just stuck in the container that I can't get out. This cream is too expensive to risk it getting stuck inside the bottle. I tried tapping it on the counter like the customer service rep suggested, but that didn't help. I have normal/dry skin and don’t ever get breakouts. However, I had a random breakout that gradually spread to different parts of my face. I figured it was some form of fungal acne, and so I had to switch to a moisturizer that would prevent more pimples but still moisturize at the same time. This cream did the job! I have super oily skin on my face, it always bothered me but i never did anything about it, I kept using the same old face cream since high school. As I've gotten older I have realized how difficult it is to find facial products for oily, aging skin. I have struggled with large pores and oily skin since I was 11 years old, and my skin grabs and holds onto everything that touches it. Most moisturizers and sunscreens with result in major breakouts of painful cystic acne spots all over my face. It is emollient without being greasy or heavy. It is suitable for all skin types but is designed to hydrate dry parched skin and is safe for sensitive skin. It is formulated with collodial oatmeal, shea butter, allantoin, ceramides and FAB's antioxidant booster. These ingredients work together to moisturise and soothe the skin. The tub says to apply from head to toe once or twice daily. I found that this was perfect for moisturising my body as it didn't leave my body feeling sticky like some creams do. It took some rubbing in to get rid of the white cast, but once it's worked into the skin it absorbs quickly. I did feel a bit of tingling on my skin, which I assume is from the eucalyptus oil and I can smell a slight hint of it in the cream. I was surprised to find that it also worked well for my face. Even with the most simple routines, no actives and just a serum or an oil it pills. A lot. Creates this gunk on your cheeks and jawline mixing with other ingredients in your routine. I keep it pretty ‘clean’ when it comes to my products and nothing else I use makes my face sticky, pill or any of that annoying stuff. This product though? I rarely experience it not pilling or, worse, turning into sludge just after using a couple of my pricey products that I feel are almost wasted when I use this over them. Especially when you’re paying a dollar or more per ml, would rather go a superior brand with cleaner ingredients. I just bought kiehls ultra because I’ve enjoyed that in the past. This is the most overrated overpriced lotion I have ever used. I suffer from dry skin already and my hands are worse than the rest because I'm always doing something with them that involves getting dirty and needing to be washed. After reading so many reviews on different kinds of lotions and everyone insisting this was the best I decided to try it. I noticed it wasn't working great first day but I decided maybe its one of those you have to keep doing. But now I've had this for awhile, used it daily and am am almost out and it absolutely has made no difference in my skin. It almost seems like it's made it worse because I find myself having to reapply this throughout the day. I was using Jergens before this and it worked much better than this. I also have used the super cheap suave lotion in the past and even with it leaving you greasy I would 100% use that again over this. Amazing cream! I use this in place of a night cream or on days that my skin feels dry and needs an extra boost. It's highly moisturising and non irritating, which is perfect for sensitive skin. Love that there is no unnecessary added fragrance either. Can be used on both your body and face. It's one of those products that actually does what it says and works so much better than high end products. If you follow Dr Dray on Youtube then you will already know that she also recommends this cream a lot as well, especially for people using retinoids. I've been applying it alongside my Differin gel to combact dryness from it's use. After washing my face, I rub in a thin layer of this cream onto my damp skin (to lock in moisture) and follow with Differin after it's dry. Using it in this way as suggested by Dr Dray reduces the risk of irritation, but still allows the retinoid to be effective. Even if you are using it on it's own, the Cerave Cream will work brilliantly to soothe and soften your dry skin. It has great ingredients including ceramides which improve skin hydration. I have dehydrated combination skin and this has helped so much to repair my skin barrier along with following a good skincare routine. You really have to try it to believe it!ani.z

I've had an overall positive experience with this face cream and will continue to use it. I would be interested to see how it works over a longer period of time but, having tested it for a short while now, have some idea of its longer impacts. The product is quite pleasant to use. The packaging isn't particularly interesting – it feels medical as opposed to makeup. The cream is quite light, not as thick as many I've used for dry skin. It easily massages into the skin and fully. It's also completely scentless which is quite lovely. I've found that perfume free products, despite being better for sensitive skin, can smell a bit funny due to there being nothing covering up the natural smell of the ingredients. The fact this doesn't smell at all is quite nice! With regard to its effectiveness, immediately it made my skin feel soft and visibly smoothed the drier flakier areas. A real bonus for me, as I have got combination skin, is that it didn't make the oily parts of my face any oilier. Often when I use moisturisers for dry skin, particularly overnight, this can be a real problem and the fact that this Eucerin AtoControl Face Cream doesn't lead to a greasy face in the morning is wonderful. Longer term – although I can't comment on proper long term use as I would like – it is perhaps not as effective as other products I have used and has minimised but not eliminated the dry skin. I can imagine that, over a period longer than a couple of weeks, it would improve on this. Although not necessarily the most effective moisturiser I have used, it does balance the not making my oily skin worse while soothing the dry skin. My skin is extremely sensitive, I can’t use most products labelled as safe for sensitive skin. I had a very bad reaction to different brand and my skin looked like it was sunburnt and it also triggered my acne to return. I took a chance on Eucerin and wow did it help beautifully. My skin felt really comfortable after first use, no tight feeling which I hate. By day two my skin was visibly calmer and a week later my skin was back to normal. This is like some miracle cream, and would give it 10 stars. I've been suffering from eczema on my face for years and only strong steroid creams would help, even though I tried dozens of different treatments. I was applying steroid cream a couple of times a week to keep it under control. After using this Eucerin product, I don't need the steroid stuff anymore! I applied it maybe once per day, after a shower, and that's it! Everything just away. Not only that, but I had more stubborn lesions (Keratosis) and with this cream they disappeared!!! Bought as a daily moisturiser and has worked so well for my sensitive, combination, blemish prone skin so far. No scent and simple formula so doesn’t irritate , and despite the soft butters in the formula, doesn’t seem to make my t-zone any oilier, and absorbs really well, leaving a gorgeous glow without feeling tacky or greasy to the touch. It instantly calms any redness in my skin from cleansing, and makes a visible difference to any irritated or dry areas overnight! This moisturiser has a light and soft, creamy texture. It absorbs well, doesn't leave any greasy residue, it softens and moisturises the skin very well and my skin appears slightly brighter after about a week of using it. The only thing I am struggling to get past is the smell. It is quite odd, to me it reminds me of hospital disinfectant, not something I expected from an Aloe Vera cream, as I expected it to be more 'fresh'. I do use it day and night and I find it a good base under the makeup. Because I do find the smell a bit off-putting, I might be looking for an alternative. However it is a very good face moisturiser and it does come in a large 100ml plastic jar, which will make it last quite a while as you don't need to use too much each time. I recommend it for any person with sensitive and oily-combination skin who does not mind the smell to be a bit 'odd'.Justyna

It goes on so smooth and my face feels soft all day, That's something because the cold winds we have been lately having while walking outside are pretty harsh on your face. Yep, that’s my face with my very first acne rosacea flare. Since this started almost a month ago, my skin has continued to redden and dry out to a point I haven’t known since childhood sunburns at the beach. My skin has always been sensitive and it took me a really long time testing many products to find the one that works for me, which is Shiseido Bio Performance Moisturizer. So, with this new problem, I cannot use any products with fragrance. The antibiotic I take is helping the acne like bumps but the redness and ridiculous dryness remains. The dermatologist told me to use Cerave…nope, I broke out. Following that, I tried Aveeno, Cetaphil, Acure, LaRoche-Posay, Perricone Face Finishing Moisturizer, Skyn Iceland Cloud Cream, you get the idea. I remembered using an Olay moisturizer years ago with some success so I checked out their website and found their calming skin line with Hungarian Water Essence. WHOA!! I mean I’m not gonna give it 5 stars for moisturizing, but the change in the dryness, redness, and texture of my skin over the last three days has been dramatic. I’ve had no new added problems, just continued improvement. I couldn’t be happier (other than if this never happened!) but I’m glad I found a product I can count on that won’t be gone in six months! Overall I somewhat enjoyed this moisturizer. Having sensitive skin it’s hard to find skin products that don’t irritate or leave you red. This moisturizer was in fact calming and reduced redness like the description said it would. However, i disliked the product consistency, as it was a bit oily (which i attribute to the spf) and you had to make sure to rub it in otherwise it would leave a white sheen due to the spf component. I liked the fact that it was fragrance free. What knocked it down to 3 stars for me was how it left my skin feeling. I typically use a Clinique moisturizer that leaves my skin feeling very soft and hydrated, but with this moisturizer I didn’t feel it absorb well into my skin-it felt like a layer on top, and did not leave it soft whatsoever. I would probably recommend this to put on if going to the beach or somewhere sunny but not as an everyday moisturizer.natalie.e
I have been using this moisturizer for about a month now and have definitely noticed the diminishment of redness on my face. I have had horrible rosacea, am on medications which affect my skin tone, and cannot use lotions with spf or scents in them. I've tried the whole gamut, from drugstore brands to dermatological Rxs, to expensive brands. After numerous years, this Olay for Sensitive Calming Facial Moisturizer Fragrance Free has hit it out of the park. I can only pray that Olay does not discontinue this moisturizer!Dog lover

Zo is top-notch, no question! The only thing I'm not thrilled about is how tacky this product stays. It doesn't absorb into the skin with a smooth finish. It stays a bit tacky. I have been using this for a few years now, it isn't the cheapest moisturiser out there but nothing really compares to it, and Avene are a quality brand that cater well to sensitive skin. It's in a tube with a patented design at the top, the opening is flat and only opens when the tube is squeezed. It means the cream doesn't need any added preservatives to keep it fresh, so that's one less irritant to worry about. I can layer this well with other products and if my skin has a reaction to something then it can be applied on it's own as it very soothing and moisturizing. I have tried many brands of skincare that claim to be suitable for sensitive skin but many still don't work and this is worth every cent. I can't begin to explain how helpful this cream has been for me. I have rosacea, perioral dermatitis, and eczema. Finding anything that can be applied to my skin is extremely difficult. Sometimes water even irritates it. I have tried everything. Not only does this product not irritate my skin, when I have a flare, it often calms and reduces the amount of time that my skin is irritated. I use the thermal spring water first, then the cream, and this is a great combination. I've tried Vanicream, and it even burns my skin during a flare. I've heard this product is being discontinued and it is absolutely devastating. When you struggle with hypersensitive skin like me, and many others, taking away a 24/7 moisturizer is heartbreaking. It has taken me years of stress to find a skincare routine that works. So very thankful for Skin Recovery cream! Praying it will remain.Amber
It is very unfortunate that avene has decided to discontinued this lotion for hypersensitive skins like mine. I am highly allergic to any type of alcohol. Avene’s newer/updated version of this lotion contains alcohol which was not the case for this lotion that I have used for several years. Since this version is not longer available I recently started to use the Avene cream nutritive revitalizing for sensitive skin. It burned my skin face and is now itching and pealing of dryness. I spent a good time reading the Avene products for hypersensitive/eczema prone/ hyper allergic, etc. All new products contain alcohol. What happened Avene? I have super oily skin on my face, it always bothered me but i never did anything about it, I kept using the same old face cream since high school. I turned 30 recently and the photos of my birthday showed me how oily my skin looked even with make up on, so i decided to look for other options. I read a blog about the best creams for people with oily skin and i wanted to give it a try, i bought this one because it was one of the face creams mentioned in the blog and I love it. I thought it was kinda overpriced because it's only 50g but you need very little to cover your face. It smells very nice, it feels fresh, leaves your skin mate but moisturised. The effect lasts for hours! EDIT: after a month, I started to get a rash around my lips, I thought it was the usual allergies I get due to cold wind but I discovered that this water gel was the cause of it. As I've gotten older I have realized how difficult it is to find facial products for oily, aging skin. I have struggled with large pores and oily skin since I was 11 years old, and my skin grabs and holds onto everything that touches it. Most moisturizers and sunscreens with result in major breakouts of painful cystic acne spots all over my face. If I use any products that contain any type of oil or other potentially comedogenic (pore clogging) ingredient, my skin suck it up into my pores and refuses to let go for a LONG time. Being an aesthetician, I am fully aware that even oily skin (especially oily skin, actually) needs to be moisturized. Oily skin is the result of an over production of sebum, the skins natural moisturizer. For people with naturally oily skin, whenever the skin senses it lacks an appropriate amount of moisture, it automatically produces an excess amount of sebum in order to provide moisture to the skin. While it seems counter-productive to add moisturizer to already oily skin, the opposite is actual true. By thuroughly washing your face then applying the right type of intensely hydrating moisturizer like Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream with Hyaluronic Acid, it actually help to regulate the oiliness of skin by providing the moisture it needs, eliminating the skin's need to over-produce sebum to provide adequate hydration to the skin. This is one of the only products I have found that provides intense moisture to my skin without clogging my pores or causing adverse side effects like most other facial moistures do to my skin.
