First of all, I want to say I have VERY long and full latin hair. It is up to my lower back and I purchased 2 boxes- but only needed ONE. At first, I didn’t think the foam would work or even make it as it’s a liquid, it makes you skeptical it’s even costing the hair evenly, but you can’t be scared to spread it all around, massage it into your scalp, use a comb if you have to. I think the best part of this dye was the fact that it’s mess free. With the squirt bottle dyes, I always end up getting it on my walls, or floor, or countertop- with this one the foam is so easy to work with. I never really use the gloves provided in the boxes of hair color because they tend to rip at the seams- so use your own gloves. 2N was the color I used and it looks identical to the picture on the box. Just gorgeous. It’s a very dark brown that appears black but not blue black. I’m just in love with it and how soft my hair is after. I will keep buying this one and can’t recommend it enough. This foam hair dye was pretty awful for me. The dye smells good and the foam feel fine but the DRIPS! I had black dye all over my bathroom- so stressful. I did follow the directions and had a towel and carefully covered my bathroom. After using the amount of foam recommended to cover the entirety of your hair, you wait at least 20 minutes. In about 5 minutes the foam started to “melt” and no longer foamy, it dripped everywhere. Although I had a towel my hair dropped dye everywhere as I sat in my bathroom. I have to say the application is different than when you use traditional at home hair color, but I love it. The lack of harsh chemical smells and this is amazing as well. Plus, I feel like you can get better control when you're doing the application. John Frieda didn't dry out my hair like some other hair dyes did. It's a beautiful color and even on my natural black hair that was undyed you can still see some tint. Go with Excellence. I normally use L’Oréal Excellence but decided to tried something different and tried Preference in same shade I usually use in dark ash brown. Well, Excellence does a better job… Preference faded and washed out from my gray roots. I had to do a double take to make sure I used permanent dye. Well it was! I have partial gray areas I use the dye to cover. I don’t recall having this issue w/ Excellence. If you have gray you’re looking to cover, go with Excellence. I was looking to color my hair auburn which is exactly what this product did. I had medium brown virgin hair with a few grey's. I would suggest to apply the product to the middle and ends of your hair for 15 minutes and only apply to roots for maybe seven minutes. I did get some hot roots in a small patch near the front of my hairline. I will be googling and youtubing how to correct that spot. I would definitely not keep it on my roots for the full 10 minutes the box suggests. There is not alot of multidimension color but there is definitely color change from my medium brown. I think that the product doesn't need to be as strong as it is. I don't know a ton about color, but this company should maybe use a less harsh developer? They are trying to appeal to a large audience, but they are just messing up alot of people haircoloring experience. I read alot of the reviews beforehand so I knew that my hair would go auburn. If someone just picks the box and thinks their hair is gonna have Carmel highlights they are in for a unpleasant surprise.Sarah
I thought the product was magnificent. The one application was enough to cover my entire head from root to end and when my hair is wet it lands on my shoulders and I have naturally curly hair. I didn't approve or ask for this shade! I got starry black. I'm a natural blonde. In order for me to achieve black hair that doesn't turn green after the 1st wash,I would have to do a filler color first like a medium brown. I don't want to put all those chemicals on my hair. Plus I don't want black hair! I DID NOT USE THIS! I have used feria in the past though, I have used their bleaching kit and their auburn, red and black cherry shades. It is the only box dye I will use. It not only has an essential oil you add to it for a better smell but it also helps the hair feel softer and more hydrated as well as look shiny and healthy, well as healthy as dyed hair can look. For a box dye it's not bad. If I had gotten a color I approved of I totally would have used it! My daughter has medium golden brown hair and has been debating allowing me to use this on her. The variety I used was l'oreal paris feria shimmering in deep violet. I took this 1st picture about a week after dying my hair with the dye and I had washed my hair about twice using color safe shampoo and color safe conditioning products. It immediately started fading pretty fast right after dying it was a really really dark navy blue with very slight purple undertones and for undertones and then after a few weeks of washing my hair and it's just continuing to lighten dramatically. Currently I'm back to a muddy/blue tinged green. I have used this brand of dye before in different colors when I was dying over brunette hair without any bleach involved and I also do remember that it faded very fast but it wasn't as noticeable because I was dying over dark Brown hair where it's now dyed over light blue and it's very easy to see how fast it has faded down. #complimentary #feriahaircolor

Trying to find the right shade of a lighter blonde when your hair is naturally a honey and slightly brassy blonde can be challenge. My experience with attempting to actually find a good shade over the past few years to lighten and cover roots has admittedly been a case of trial and error with some of the L’Oréal Preference range lighter shades. Nevertheless, the Ultra Light Venice Blonde was a surprising gem for coverage. It is admittedly a little too light to wear during the winter months but it’s an ideal find for the summer . ( I made a first-time mistake of using the dye during the winter with an obvious appearance of being overly lightened for the time of year. However, it has also been one of the few shades that I’ve used where friends and family alike have noted and commended the tone on my hair as having a professional-finish and being quite glossy.) The appearance is one of the range’s lighter shades verging upon a very light to slight pearly blonde tone (dependent on previous shade) and so it is really ideal if you’re looking for something to help lighten brassy blonde hair or darkish roots. I'm a loyal fan of Preference. Leaves a great colour and condition. I wanted to even up my colour between golden a mid section to ends and mainly white/grey 3cm roots, to an all over Ashy Blonde. I read the detailed instructions and outcome on the Superdrug website and chose 10.1 Very Very Light Ash Blonde for click & collect. It says online 100% grey coverage – hold that thought!! Admittedly I should have read the back of the packaging when I received it but having already read it on the website I did think to do it again But I followed the application info & timings. However my hair did not turn out anywhere near the colours on the box, but mainly bright white/grey with some odd gold strands. I then discovered that the product advertised online must have been changed to a new formula. The actual packaging is a completely different design to that pictured online – Beware. And the new packaging says NOT suitable if you have a lot of GREY hair! I'll need to use a Toner to correct it (which I will probably buy elsewhere) having felt a little let down. Lesson is – check packaging before you use. But Superdrug please ensure your product information and illustrations are up to date – it really helps customers when buying online. I recommend the brand but don't trust online descriptions. Take the time to go in to store to do your research if at all possible. Photos show actual package design & advertised colour with new info on back and the finished colour on my hair. I expect some variant but you can see it's no match to the picture. So I dyed my dark blonde/light brown hair using this dye (Preference Platinum Extreme Platinum Blonde Permanent Hair Dye) and was left with yellow roots. I did a lot of research on the reviews section to see what would fix this and people said use Jerome Russel silver toner and not the white toner as the silver would sort out the yellow roots. So I put this on my roots and a little bit transferred to some of my already white hair. The result was the most minimal of change on my roots and I was left with some purple hair on the original white hair. So I was basically left with a combination of yellow hair, then purple hair, then white hair. I then tried my (salon bought) revlon ice white leave in conditioner and thankfully the purple hair went silver. I was informed to try wash any possible trace of bleach out of my hair as apparently toners won't work in the hair very well because of it. So 2 days later I tried this toner on my yellow roots (bleach London white toner) and unfortunately again minimal change and my scalp has scabbed over. I recommend if you have yellow roots in your hair, don't use a toner, wait another 2 weeks and bleach your roots again and that will do the job. Toners are too harsh on the head and unfortunately unless you have naturally light hair to begin with, they don't work work sufficientlySheep25

I used this for the first time this week. I really like the shade. The trick to getting a good application is to make sure you shampoo your hair before application so it’s damp and why residue/build up is gone, which can make the color not adhere to your hair. Remember, semi-permanent coats the surface of your hair, not the cuticle, so you want it as clean as possible. Using it on dry hair will give you a tint, but probably not the bright effect you were hoping for. Liked it so much, I got a few more shades of red and brown to try out.shannon.g
this stuff is AMAZING!! So I have been on the grey silver hair trend (well trying to get there at least) lol and the stuff is a lifesaver! I couldn't get the darn brass out of my hair and it was driving me crazy! tried almost everything! My last option was toning but after all the bleaching I didn't want to use chemicals… this saved my life and turned my pale yellow to a beautiful silver after one wash with a little bit in my shampoo! then I shadow tried with it full strength! no brass slightly profile like I wanted (only in the sun and thats because I left it on as little longer to achieve the purple silver look). I also used it on my son because w bleached his mohawk twice but was still orange like really orange! one freaking wash with a purple shampoo I made with this (a little stronger than the one I made for my hair since his was so orange) and we got a beautiful silver!! I'm 1 wash!! no more expensive purple shampoo for me baby! I got one bottle and have made 3 batches of purple shampoo, shadow ripped my hair fill strength 4 times and still have over half a bottle left! The new formula and packaging of Natural Brow Shaper is a complete FAIL. The product is either too dry or there's virtually nothing in the tiny tube. Add to that the fact the brush is miniscule and it ends up a tube of nothing/waste of money. I assumed BBrown wouldn't just change a great product, thus the spontaneous buy at a department store. So I feel I must start this review saying that I was sent these to review. Unfortunately I had a couple of issues… Firstly I was sent completely the wrong shade for me. But I thought for review purposes I would try them out on a day I'm not going anywhere and see what the product is like none the less. This is where I hit the second snag. The product is incredibly dry and I found it very hard to get any product from the tube. I do wonder if something happened to my product in transit as when I've been to a Bobbi counter and had a look at these they don't appear dry at all. I can honestly say I have never really used or felt the need to incorporate a brow shaper /Mascara in to my routine . My go to is usually some brown powder or pencil and I am good to go , I was fortunate to receive this to test /try and I have been blown away and now a permanent fixture to daily routine . Been using Nice n Easy light brown 6N permanent for about 7-8 years now and was really happy with the natural look it gave and people were so surprised if i ever mentioned that I dyed it! Now though have tried the new version over last couple of months experimenting with 6 and 6.5 and not only do they not cover as well but both have a subtle reddidsh tinge – a give away sign of hair dye! In fact for the first time ever somebody asked if I've been dying my hair as they could see the reddish tint in the light. Not only that the metal tube is difficult to use and you can't always get it all out. I don't get that they are adding conditioners at very step – it goes against the whole nature of dying hair – if you have conditioner on the colour doesn't take – simple as that! Much better to revert to liquid and add a super conditioner for afterwards. a complete disappointment – now have to start from scratch looking for a new brand/colour that will do the job that this used toDancingDonnaDee
I have been using Nice and Easy for almost 30 years… I started dying my hair when I was 26.. Everyone,including my hairdresser told me that the color was so natural, he couldn’t believe it was colored and especially that I did it myself. I used 118, which is now just 5, Medium Brown. The color was so natural and my hair was shiny with beautiful natural looking highlights… Now they changed the formula and the color is awful! I’ve dyed my hair three times since they changed the formula and each time, the new growth comes out with what I call “hot roots”, which means all the new growth is a hot red! I thought it was a rare fluke the first time, but it’s happened two more times..they made the new formula smell nice, but the color is not the same and besides the red roots, the color lost that natural highlight look and instead looks darker and one dimensional and muddy. PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD FORMULA! I’m attaching a pic of my hair with the old formula and one after using the new formula.Jrsygirl

I recently did the big chop and wanted to do something different since I’ve had the same hairstyle and color over 20 years. Decided to go from darkest brown to honey blonde. After the first application my hair went to a weird orangy brown that wasn’t bad. A few weeks later I reapplied using two boxes instead based on the thickness of my natural hair and it came out perfect. Now that fall is approaching I want to try something darker but haven’t decided what color. Curl pattern not effected, will definitely continue to use.
I've been using Clariol T & T in lightest blonde for the past 25yrs. I absolutely love this color. Over time the scent of the conditioner changed. Original scent smelled better but it does what it's suppose to. Moisturizes well, hair is soft and manageable. So many peoples ask me how I got me hair the color it is, I tell them time, achieving this color didn't happen over night! I fell in love with Clairol after a cousin of mine (professional) recommended that I use Clairol many years ago. Well, she's no longer around but her advice still stands. I wanted a family of reds to choose from. I wasn't aware of this product specifically formulated for darker hair. I didn't expect anything special. Until…….I rinsed it out and boy was I elated. I started with darker reds and worked my way up to boldly going with this one. This is my baby. I will be coloring my hair for the fall and will add a photo. My hair is relaxed and needs trimming but after coloring with this product I get soft, silky results and although the split ends may appear to disappear, I know they haven't. This is very good to retain length while allowing your hair to from as well. I relax maybe 2-3 times a year and after this color application I see nor have any hair breakage or loss for weeks.

My hair was a highly dull off-black with an auburn brown tint from sun exposure. The ends (about 3inches) of my hair was a dark blond from permanent hair dye about 2yrs ago that was still growing out. My hair length is a few inches past my collar bone so I suppose it's medium length. I have high density hair (lots of hair strands) and my hair strands are thick. I would always have to buy 2 boxes of hair dye for my hair because it is so dense. However, I only needed one box of this hair dye and I even had about 1/4 of it left over. The box contains a set of instructions (which are very clear by the way), a sample of their shampoo and conditioner, gloves (which didn't break or tear), hair dye, developer, and an applicator bottle. I personally prefer using a mixing bowl and applicator brush. Next time, I will use those items instead. I parted my hair into six sections and worked one section at a time and started on the roots first throughout my head, then proceeded to the length of my hair. It states to let the dye sit for 20min but considering that my hair is a bit color resistant, I let it sit for about 40 instead. Normally, I wouldn't extend it for this amount of time, but considering this product was natural, I took a chance. I wouldn't recommend you do this but use your personal experience and judgement. The instructions strongly recommend that you do an allergy test (place the hair dye on inner elbow) and watch it over the next 48hrs to see if you will have an allergic reaction before using the hair dye. However, I did not do this. I do have sensitive skin but never had an allergic reaction to any hair dye so I based my decision partly off that. I didn't like the shampoo nor the conditioner that came with it. The shampoo made my hair tangle and it felt like it was stripping my hair. The conditioner wasn't effective in making my hair feel conditioned. The actual hair dye made my hair feel soft becaused it is packed with oils. I still would use the shampoo and conditioner since they are meant to work together after the hair dye process. The hair dye was a COMPLETE SUCCESS! It completely covered my blond ends and the entirety of my head. My hair is now black. I must state that this Poppyseed color (2N) is a NATURAL black so it is NOT jet black. I actually wanted jet black hair but the Vitamin Shoppe that I shopped at didn't have it so I got this instead. Next time, I will definitely be getting the jet black which is called Licorice (1N) which is the darkest shade. I can't wait to do it again!LovelyBreeze

I have problems covering some grey/white hairs. I tried to use other root color touch-up products. Never improve to cover my grey/white hairs until I use this product. Last the haircolor for 1 or 2 days. Only con about this root touch-up spray if sprayed hard, the forehead and hands gets stained. However, once it stained it's easy to remove the mess. Primer, lightened my hair from a dark chocolate colour to a caramel toffee colour. I originally thought of just using this to prep my hair for the other colours but I ended up liking the caramel so much that I just let it be like that hahaha. I've actually repurchased the primer because I've got a regrowth now and I want to retouch my roots. It didn't sting and was easy to apply. I use a purple shampoo to keep it from looking brassy. Arrived via USPS in very good condition, with normal time frame for USPS. The wig was easy to put on and take off. There were instructions for all of my purchase. I lost my hair within 6 days due to chemotherapy, so the helpful instructions were appreciated. The wig was similar to the online photo, but less curly, and that was a slight disappointment. The wig I received has a cute curl pattern. It's got soft barrel curls all throughout. The bangs, though, are not as long as they appear in the catalog picture. They are maybe 4.5". The color, I think it's 18/22, is medium ash blonde with some golden blonde highlights. I'd say that it pulls more gold than ash, at least in indoor lighting. But in natural light it's about balanced. I gave it four stars for two reasons. 1) I needed to use products on it to hide the permatease. 2) it's a little tight on my 22.25" head and I have to take special care in preparing my bio hair, including wearing a stocking cap, before wearing this one, else it moves around uncomfortably.Bonnie

My experience here was a bit different than all other previous reviews, so take it as it is. I have very thin curly brown hair and this gave me a nice dark blonde colour. It looks very beautiful in terms of colour, has good coverage and is easy to mix and apply (although you need your own bowl and mixing tool). My hair is long but one box was enough and unlike all other dyes, it didn't bleed to the towel or pillow at all and didn't stain my skin. Now the cons: it has a VERY strong smell when applying! Not sure how everyone is saying it smells good… the smell goes away the next day, but do not apply in a closed space. Also, and this made me fear for my life: my hair got extremely dry right after washing the dye off… it felt like I was touching hay and not hair. I was shocked!! Even after the conditioner from the box, my own conditioner, it felt like it was ruined… only after a week or so of putting leave in conditioner everyday and not using shampoo it got back to normal, so beware you may need to do some extra conditioner care afterwards (this never happened to me before with any other dye). I don't know if I would buy this brand again due to the dryness shock, but I do love the colour result…iHerb Customer

I mixed this color (5D light golden chestnut) with 7D (golden blond). The ratio is one unit of developer to one unit of color. So I used a half unit of each color to equal one color unit and blended that with one unit of the developer. The remaining color that I didn't use from each bottle will be used next time, so I get two uses out of each box. I chose to blend those two colors to try to get close to my natural shade, which is a light brown with some golden strands and some hints of red. I did a bunch of research before I bought these colors. I learned that the same shades act differently on all different people and just accepted that I wouldn't be able to predict the exact outcome. If you want to be more sure of the actual result, you can save your hair from the shower for a week and then use that as a test to see how the color takes to your hair. Who knew there'd be a use for that annoying shower hair! My results were quite dark the day that I dyed it — it was a rich chocolate tone. It lightened up after a few washes. It's now been more than a week since I colored it and it looks great. I have about 20% gray and it covered them well. I like that the formula doesn't have a harsh chemical scent. Please note that the packages don't include a bowl to mix the solution in or an applicator for putting the mixture in your hair' plan accordingly so you have the materials on hand. Bigger one comes out like a cream and its white ish, then the smaller tube is the actual “dye” or ink lol. It’s labeled as “copper intensifier” or something like that. I was so indecisive to use it but it’s literally needed, because the bigger dye is just white. So you mix them together to get the red. I only bought one because I mixed it with two magentas to get my ideal red lolAmerica
The product itself is great when you receive the correct coloring packet. I give the product 5 stars. The vendor gets a 1. My daughter has used it many times purchased elsewhere. Her friend didn't look at the label and used it on my daughters bright red hair. It was not red it was copper. I asked for a replacement and the company wanted pictures of the box, contents and packing slip. I don't have a packing slip so sent a screen shot of my on-line order form which clearly states the product was shipped to me by them. They keep sending me the same letter and I keep sending them the same pictures. 4 times I have sent pictures. I will not order from this company ever again.Jane

Color came our amazing exactly how I wanted only downfall is it did wash out quickly I even waited 72 hours before I washed my hair due to the recommendation of letting the color sit and not wash as much. I am an everyday hair washer due to how oily my hair is. After the 72hrs I washed hair every 48 to 72 hrs still color was fading everytime after 4 to 5 washes color is noticeably different. Used this color with 30 developer I wish they would make the color last especially since it's supposed to be permanent but the color was awesome while it lasted.erica.m
I have used Ions dyes many times, and they are consistent only in the fact that they never color properly. The rose pink lasted a single wash. The shamrock green left only the faintest green stain on my lightest hair. The sapphire blue left me with an even green. And now, after using a PERMANENT dye with DEVELOPER on my WHITE HAIR, I am left with no color at all and a lighter wallet. The result seems crazy due to how badly it burned while I let it sit under foil for 45 minutes. This is definitely my last straw with Ion products, and I can say with confidence that I will never bother trying with them again. They're a waste of time and money, ESPECIALLY this particular color. I will admit that the colors are all fairly cheap, so you do get what you pay for.
I like this product very much. To get this color I bleached my hair to a level 9 and then dyed my hair mixing this with a volume 30 cream peroxide all from the same brand. This one is in a cream consistency. Besides the fact that I like this color I also prefer this brand over others I've tried because in my opinion this brand smells less chemically intoxicating "I actually find the products kind of have a sligh parfum scent" plus I've also experienced less damaging with constant use. Tip……It also mixes very well with my conditioners "I prepared a mixture of conditioner and the tint to maintain the freshness of the hair color and used it every time I washed my hair after shampooing" just be aware that this is pigmented and it will get messy in the bathtub if not careful.xiomara.v

I purchased the color "Dark Navy" hoping to achieve a deep blue color and it did exactly that ! As you can see on my before pic, I had bleached and stained blue hair from previously using semi-permanent blue dye, as well as dark blonde brassy roots regrowth. I did a strand test first to be sure of the color but it came out beautiful ! I was afraid it would come out too dark but it's great 🙂 I will update this review after a few washes to see if it washed out a lot or not.Jessica
This hair dye is super easy to use! I love how it's just like shampooing your hair. I got the color soft greige because I wanted to slightly darken my washed out tips. However, because my hair was already pretty dark, this color lightened my natural black-brown hair and got rid of the brassiness from my previously dyed ends. But… for a couple weeks after using this, there was a slight light purple tinge to my hair in certain lights. So, this product worked, but I probably got the wrong color and that's on me lolLillian
Expected a dark bluey tint to my hair which is naturally dark grey. Turned out lightish brown? Didn't see any hint or hue of blue at all and I didn't want brown. I've brought the same product again after but in black colour and turned out brown as well but more of a blackish brown. Not good unless u want the colour to come out brownishJune
