I have owned two of these exact same models. Why? Because I ABSOLUTELY LOVED my hair when using this hot-air roller brush! My hair was shiny, full, beautifully wavy, soft – ALL GOOD! The downside and the real disappointment was in very short order, the brush would no longer spin even though it continued to emit heat. I loved how the brush managed my hair so much, I thought maybe the first one was a "lemon" and right away, I bought another to replace the first one. The same thing happened with the second one! And rapidly! No long term use before failure on both brushes. I still have the second brush and look at it longingly willing it to work, but alas, that is just not going to happen! CONAIR you simply must do something to fix this problem or come out with a model that ACTUALLY WORKS!MaryLiz
I love what this brush and blow out do to my hair. But I have thick hair and the bristles are very weak, which makes it very difficult to do more than small amongst of hair at a time. Also, there’s a gap between the brush attachment and the wand which frequently pulls my hair and twists it into a knot. So though I like what it does, it’s very high maintenance and takes a long time if you have medium length hair or more.Christina 12
I really wanted to love this blowdryer. I've been looking for one with a spin brush because it is easier on my arms holding a dryer up. The heat power on this dryer is very weak even on high compared to my old trusted Revlon Spin Dryer brush that finally died. The brush is not removable which is another negative for me and takes more room when packing. And, I say it's poorly made as wow does it yank my hair which is painful. There is a space between the brush barrel and the end caps that catches my hair and pools it out. Big Ouch! By the time I finished drying my hair with this dryer I was amazed at the amount of hair stuck in this divide. I do not recommend this dryer until they make the blower stronger and correct the way it's made in the mold to fix this painful opening at either end of the barrel. I bought this because I just had shoulder surgery and cannot raise my right arm above my head. This allowed me to do a blow out and style my hair like I normally would. I still had to go over with a straightener. I’m not sure if that is due to the product or because I was doing it with one hand. I have short hair that is somewhere between my ears and chin. I’m not sure if I should return and continue my search for a better one or keep this one. It certainly works better then the Conair model for sure. Which btw, had a strong chemical scent when turned on and the motor was SO loud. Revlon which was cheaper also did it better. Simple and effective motor wasn’t unbearably loud…However I can’t help but feel like it’s cheap.. the thin aluminum or metal wrapped around the brush head combined with heat makes me feel like I’m damaging my hair.. there’s got to be a better one out there with more thoughtful innovative materials for hair. I love this styling hair dryer! I’ve been using one version or another of it for over 15 years. I think this is my 3rd or 4th one. If I remember correctly, I’ve never had the motor blow out, it’s always been the locking mechanism that broke or that I dropped the curling brush and the plastic broke where it would engage with the locking mechanism. It’s fantastic for my medium length, thick, naturally wavy hair. I usually wait until my hair is partially dry before using and then style with the larger curling brush to minimize my slight, natural frizz and maximize my natural waves. For me, it’s worth every penny, even if I do end up replacing it every so often!Kat

So my flat iron needed to be retired. I have medium/course thick hair that has a mind of its own ( some of its sorta straight, parts are curly and other parts are wavy), so i have been straightening my hair near daily for years. I was looking for an alternative that might be a little more gentle on my hair then a flat iron. I bought a brush similar to this at a different store, liked the results, hated the design ( the buttons where on the top of the handle where you gripped and i kept either turning it off or turning the temp up to a much higher temp that would have fried my hair, plus the handle where you put your hand got super hot). So i returned the other one to the other store, and ended up purchasing this front ulta… I love this one! My hair gets pretty straight ( not pin straight, but thats fine because my hair never stayed pin straight), and has volume to it. It smoothes out fly aways fairly well too. Even though the buttons are on the handle, they are recessed enough that im not hitting them, turning the temp up accidentally. The brush is comfortable to hold and the handle does not get hot. I was pretty quick in the morning with my flat iron, but im even quicker with this. Overall, im so happy i purchased this and would highly recommend. I have wanted to try the original instyler, but i always though i would burn myself with that hot metal barrel, so i never purchased it, but i am so happy with this, and highly recommend it if you are looking for a quick, easy way to straighten you hair in the morning. Before purchasing this I had read a lot of the reviews. From those reviews my main concern was that it would get my hair all tangled. Not true. At all. I have extremely long hair, and the only way it got tangled using this was when I tried to use it like a regular brush or if my hair was tangled and unbrushed before starting. But if you use it the way the instructions say, no tangles, no problems. With all that being said, as I already mentioned I have extremely long hair. naturally wavy, after years of coloring and heat styling, it's a wavy frizzy mess. I was looking for something faster than a flat iron, and was hoping this would give a little more volume. The result.. It takes about the same amount of time as my flat iron. It does not add any volume. Major negative, it leaves the ends of my hair looking very frizzy. Overall I do really like the idea of this product, it's just not the best fit for me//my hair. I have had this for 6 months and I'm still not sure if I like it. I have lots of hair. My hair is fine and curly. So first I will say the pros: It works on my hair as well as a flat iron in half the time or even less. It is a very fast process. It is lighter to hold than a blow dryer and round brush and way less work than a flat iron. My hair is not frizzy from this and it doesn't leave my hair looking limp like a flat iron. But for whatever reason I just don't like this item. I am not really sure why. I don't like the color white with the purple. I just don't find it visually appealing. I think if I thought it was more attractive I would like it more. I also just worry about hair damage. I just don't know How much this is or isn't damaging my hair. Like with a flat iron I know how damaged my hair became with it constantly breaking off at the ends and never growing because of that…. but with this I'm assuming it damages it less. But I really just don't know in what ways it is damaging my hair because I'm still new to using it. I am slightly just concerned about the unknown damage and what frequent use will look like. My ends are very limp looking but that is probably from bleaching / past damage but I just don't know. It could be from pulling it through my hair. You do have to brush your hair really well before using it and sometimes my hair still gets stuck in it and it pulls. If your heat protectant makes your hair stick together it's going to be an issue. Your hair needs to be completely detangled before use. One time I used a decent amount of product before straightening and the product got stuck all in the "brush" pieces. The inside started smoking I think because of the excess product. It wasn't a big deal but I don't normally put product on before straightening and I do think it could be problematic for someone who puts a lot on. I have very coarse, thick, wavy hair. I have only ever used a flat iron before. When I bought this I was actually shopping for a replacement for my awesome, but 16+ year old flat iron. I bought this on whim, because honestly, the price. I even asked the Ulta associate about their return policy because I was sure this tiny thing wouldn't work in my giant, poofy, frizzy hair. I was 98% sure I was returning it. Now, as another reviewer said this will not really straighten you hair if you have A LOT of hair, although it did better than expected, but it would make wavy hair pretty smooth. It's not going to give you flat iron results. It also didn't really turn my ends under the way I like. What it did do, and what I actually bought it for was to straighten a terrible cowlick that I have on one side of my head that kinks up over night no matter how satiny or silky my pillowcase is or how careful I am to not sleep on that side of my head. The first morning that used this I had a particularly tossy-turny night of sleep and my hair was a complete mess. I thought it was going to be a ponytail day. But this little thing straightened out all the kinks and left my hair looking like the day before when it was freshly ironed. I have weird hair. Its straight for the first couple inches and then wants to curl for another couple inches (my hair is around shoulder length) and I needed something that would give me so control. I didn't want to use a straightener everyday and I wanted to try one of these brushes. Its heats up super fast and I can lightly place my hand over the entire brush without burning myself. I have thinner hair and I can usually go over my head in 3 or 4 swipes total (no really). it does its job. This will not give you the paper straight hair that a straightener will give you since you're not pressing your hair between two plates but it does straighten out your hair if you want something that looks more "natural". So I bought this because I work in healthcare. I take showers at night and sometimes go to bed with wet hair. When I wake in the morning to put my hair up, it's a frizzy mess and then I put it in the worlds ugliest bun. No time to straighten it out for the frizz control. I hate it. my hair is fine and short shoulder length. I couldn't get 1 brush to even wrap into my hair to do anything. the other is so hard if you get too close to your scalp that you need to do for body it hurts like –. I was really excited to try this out…my hair is fine and flat, the length falling past my shoulders. My first use was using it on my dry hair. I liked how it curled the ends under. The second time I tried it with semi wet hair following the instructions. It does take some getting used to…with the rolling direction, but other than that it is pretty self explanatory…however I did not find it gave me very much volume. I felt like using my round brush and blow dryer did the same effect. I will be keeping the product because it did make my hair softer than what blow drying would achieve. I am interested to see how it works in the summer when frizz is at its highest. Also, I tried both times not using any product in my hair. I am going to keep at it and add some volumizing products to see what results come from that. Unless my hair gets a lot more volume when using this with products, I may feel it is a little over priced.Danielle
I have tried various brush dryers and this one is pretty much perfect for my thin shoulder length hair. I use the smaller brush for more volume and haven’t even used the spin feature yet. Other products are way too hot but this high heat is fine. I can’t wait to experiment with the spinning!
I didn’t want plastic bristles because they pull my hair so I got this one. The bristles are soft unfortunately too soft. It doesn’t really grip the hair and style it. It just kind of very softly brushed. The turning feature is scary. It goes both directions and is easy to hit the wrong button. I do like this over all but not exactly what I hoped for. I would love a stiffer bristle head if they come out with one.Charles

I have long, fine hair and I gave up on hair dryers years ago because my hair would get overheated and dealing with tangles was a pain. What drew me to this product was that it was a brush AND dryer all in one. When I first got it, my initial impression was that it was bigger than I thought. It won points when I actually tried it out though. There's three heat settings and I used "II Hot Air Low" that specifically said "for fine, thin hair" and it worked out great for my hair. The temperature was just right and I didn't feel like I was overheating and damaging my hair at all. It's also a lot more quiet than a regular hair dryer. I recently cut my hair to a length that is now far more manageable than before. I had never used heat on my hair until now, using a curling iron. I burned myself pretty bad the second time around and saw videos of other alternatives, which led me to come across this. I was a bit hesitant to purchase as 1) this isn't an exactly well-known brand and 2) I found it a bit pricey. I ended up giving in and purchased this, which arrived two days after purchase! I used it the next morning on semi-dry hair, and I can't say I'm fully on board on this and nearly regretting that I purchased it. I have really healthy, thick hair that has never been chemical treated/ dyed. I do say that it does a great job on detangling. However, I deducted two stars for the following reasons. The first, it is super loud, in my opinion. I used on "low" and it was super loud, and noise is the least thing I want to hear at 7 AM. I moved it to "cool" to see if it would change things, but it was actually way louder. Also, I found it to be really hot even on the lowest/ coolest settings, which makes me not want to use it every day. The second reason why I deducted a star is because it made the hair that I have as curtain bangs a bit oily. Though I am not exactly pleased, I will most likely be keeping it as they do not cover returns and you have to return it by paying the cost of shipping yourself.BaseballBaby
i have flat asian thin hair that gets frizzy. i also have bleached highlights, my scalp gets oily and my ends dry. i was a bit apprehensive to buy but decided to do it anyway as I always straightened my hair before and it really damaged my hair. I got this Volumizer because my blow dryer went kaput, and I wanted a dryer that wouldn’t make me look like I had gone out in a wind storm. This volumizer definitely works! I felt like it made my hair look thicker but at the same time smooth after I washed. I did towel dry my hair before I used it, as suggested in the booklet. It didn’t dry my hair any faster than a regular dryer, so if your concern is speed, you would need something else. However, it doesn’t do too bad if you want to smooth your hair as you colonize. I like the fact that you can remove the brush attachment to clean and I used it briefly without to dry my hair some at the roots before I did the rest. The temp settings are nice too, if you don’t want high heat or you have thinner hair, in which lower heat is probably better, and the cool setting is also nice if you don’t need heat. I used the plastic sleeve to cover the brush part back after it cooled to protect it until next time. Overall, a great product, and affordable.NolaF
I was given this to review by TryIt Sampling. Very nice little hairdryer. The attached brush makes it easy to blow dry your hair. However this is not for short hair. I have super short hair and I found it not to be helpful at all when the brush was attached. So I remove the brush and use just the dryer part and I got very nice results as well dried it fast and didn’t get too hot as I did not put it on the hot setting. So I let my daughter use it who has not quite shoulder length hair and she found it to be a very nice hair dryer as well. Although when the hair is really wet after a shower it does take longer to use this dryer. She found she used her prior hairdryer to dry the hair to just damp and then she would finish it with this hairdryer using the attached brush. She really liked the ease of use. How nicely it fit in her hand it was not awkward at all. It made the hair smooth and shiny. Not frizzy at all. She then tried it on my granddaughter who has just longer than shoulder length hair. Once again,It took longer to dry the hair using just this hairdryer but it really made a huge difference in her hair. It smoothed it down and made it soft and shiny. And it flipped the ends and made them bouncy and curly. It Gave her hair a whole new look. My granddaughter was extremely happy with the look when she was done. They have been using this study since I have gave it to them to use. It has 4 settings: high, med, low and cool. The medium setting we found to be the best. This is a great blow dryer for those who want smooth looks with volume. It is easy to grasp and hold while using and doesn't bother my wrists or hands, and is not heavy. It has several heat modes so you can choose according to your hair needs. I use the medium setting for my fine hair. I section my hair and use the dryer on those parts, working my way up. It takes little time to dry, as the brush lifts and separates your hair. You can go under the hair like I do, for volume, or for smoothing just brush it down on the hair strands. It can get quite hot, so be careful with your fingers. I can dry my hair much quicker with this dryer by taking sections, compared to a normal blow dryer and brush routine. It cools quickly so that I'm able to put it away when I'm done with my makeup. I use a flat iron to finish up, but normally it is just minimal, because the blow dryer does such a great job. I would recommend this for anyone who wants smoother hair. My hair is pretty straight, so I don't know how it works with someone with some curl. I can set it on the low setting to dry my bangs slowly, so I can get them where I want them. I would definitely recommend this dryer over some others that I have had. I wanted to try this out and see if it was up to the hype!! However it is not going to work for me for two main reasons. Main reason is that it is WAY too loud. I read reviews that said it was equally as loud as a blow dryer, but I 100% disagree with that. It is louder than any blow dryer I have ever used, including the one I use currently which is a Hot Tools brand blow dryer. This dry brush had a much higher pitched and much louder sound that was just unbearable. The second thing I disliked about it was that it offers less control than a traditional method of round brush and blow dryer. With the traditional method of a blow dryer and a brush, you have the ability to point the blow dryer in the direction you want the heat and air to go, so you can strategically point it downwards on the hair shaft, making the hair look smooth. With this dry brush you do not have that ability as the air just blows out of the brush. So for someone like me with fine/wavy hair that is prone to fly-aways and frizz, not being able to blow the hair downwards on the hair shaft left my hair looking frizzy with lots of fly-aways at the top of the head, and just an overall less smooth look than I can achieve with a blow dryer and brush. This product might be an option for someone who isn't able to use the blow dryer with a brush, but it is not an ideal option for someone who had the ability to do a blow out the traditional way, in my opinion.Beauty Lover
This is a game changer and my ends look amazing. I dry my hair upside down for volume with my regualr dryer. Use my round brush – not dryer- for the top, sides and back of my head by rolling it and letting it sit for a minute, only 4 rolls total (kinda like a large roller). Then I use the round dryer brush for my ends and smoothing out. Makes it so, so quick. Do not put on the highest setting because its too hot. Use dryer spray before drying to protect your ends! I had never used a volumizer before and mostly let my highlighted, curly, frizzy hair dry naturally first and then would use a flat iron to straighten. Not only did this take a lot of time, but I noticed over the years that my hair still looked slightly frizzy after using the flat iron, so I thought I would give this volumizer a try. The first time I had trouble with drying and it didn't seem to work well. The next time I let my hair dry a little bit first naturally so it wasn't soaking wet, but still very damp. I held the tool and brushed outward away from my head and put on low heat. It worked perfectly! Straighten my hair and gave it bounce and volume that I didn't get with my flat iron. I then put it on high and did the top layer of my head and it took away the frizz. The third time I used it, it took me 15 minutes from start to finish! That's less than half the time + that it would take me to flat iron my hair. And my hair looked way better!! It had volume and a slight curl at the ends. Yes, it is awkward to use due to the size, but give it some time and multiple tries and it does get easier to use. I am so glad I didn't give up on it after the first couple of uses. It doesn't make ear shattering noise, no more than a normal blow dryer, and when used on low heat it's less noisy. I have been pleasantly surprised by this smoothing hot brush. I have very straight, fine hair, but quite a bit of it. I usually run a flat iron over it to smooth it, but with this brush, I can skip the flat iron. It takes some practice to get the ends of the hair through the brush but once you find your technique, it's super easy! The brush heats up super fast and has three settings ranging from 356 to 400 (yeah…not 350…but 356 it says in the paperwork). My hair looks a little fuller using this brush since it doesn't flatten as much as the flat iron…if that makes sense. I'm a fan!Cassie

Just used this styler dryer and I'm a huge fan. I have thick, course, color treated hair and the drying time was less than half of what My normal round brush/blow dryer regiment is. While I touched up the style with a curling iron to give it holding power I'm not sure I needed to. My hair was shiny and smooth. I did use a good heat protectant and a low setting. This item is so new at ULTA that I had to ask for it from an associate and she said that she found them still in the original shipping box…but I was determined to have this and she was so nice to find it for me. Firstly, for my thinner, mid-length hair, this is 10x better than the original one-step brush to get volume in my hair. And secondly, the lighter and smaller stature of the unit itself does nothing to the power and heat it produces. This and the original one-step are virtually the same in those areas. Now, my only issue with this is the structure of this brush head compared to the original one-step. This one is built more like a Velcro hair roller rather than an actual hair brush. It's very difficult for it to pick up hair on its own without needing assistance in pressure for it to grab hair like a typical brush would. And that's where the original one-step succeeds with the structure of its bristles over this unit. Overall, I'm ecstatic that there is now a smaller version for us thin and short-haired girls. I have been using this brush for a while. It’s lightweight and it doesn’t damages or get hairs stuck in it so much as the Revlon one. Quite efficient, the temperature doesn’t get crazy high either. But the head brush is detachable and always falls out of the handle while drying your hair… you can’t touch it because it’s hot, so you need to pick it up with a cloth and put it back on. Annoying. The first thing I noticed about this dryer brush was how bulky it is. The dryer part is oval shape and somewhat difficult to use in hair. I think I would’ve preferred a round brush. The handle is bulky too making it awkward to hold & use. The settings are easy to understand. There’s a hot & cold option as well as different speed options. The cord is pretty long on it. This dryer brush doesn’t curl hair but it will add volume to it. It does dry pretty fast using this and is actually better than just using an ordinary hair dryer. I don’t normally blow dry my hair but found after using this product, my hair becomes frizzy and that’s only because I have natural wavy hair. My hair will become frizzy if brushed when it’s dry. Overall, I’m pleased with the results with my hair. I think a product like this is much easier to use than just a brush and hair dryer alone.Shopaholic

I bought this due to its similarities to the Dyson Airwrap for a fraction of the price. I have very long and thick hair and the blow-dry and brush attachments worked really well. They left my hair very nice and soft in under 20 minutes! However, the curling attachment does not work at all. It gets too hot and its impossible to keep close to the scalp due to the extreme heat. Also because it's so hot you can't feel if the hair is still wet when drying it and most of the time the curl doesn't hold. If you're wanting this for the curling attachment I don't think it's worth it, however if you want it for the others then it works well for the price.arifuertes

I thought this was supposed to be a hair dryer… the air flow is SO LOW. Even on the high setting. And the bristles are way too soft. Like newborn baby hair brush bristles. It just glides over the top of your hair without really brushing your hair at all. And because the air blow is so low, it doesn't even dry the middle part of your hair. So you have to use ridiculously small sections if you want your hair to even dry a little bit. I gave up and just let my little sister's hair air dry instead. It may work for you if you have very thin hair. but if you have thick hair, this blow dryer is an absolute NO. Returning it to the store today.

While the air is sufficiently hot enough to style the stubborn, coarse hair that grows from the crown of my head, the brush and wand stay cool enough that I can touch them without burning my fingers. Everyone is different, but after a shampoo, I prefer to let my hair partially air-dry before touching it up with this brush. With just a bit of dampness left in my hair, the brush quickly smooths out any frizz and tames the ends, which tend to go every which-way without some styling. I just had my hair cut short, and I and plan to get the 1/2 inch model so I can still whisk my hair effortlessly into submission. Definitely recommend this hot air brush. This tangle free Hot air brush is very easy to use. I just don't have the dexterity to use a blow dryer and brush at the same time so I purchased this item. I have no problem using this to style my hair to get extra volume. I have fine hair medium length and I have not had any issues with it getting all tangled up. I hold it by the tip with one hand letting it turn and By the handle with my other hand and slowly turning it and pull slowly towards the ends of my hair. I find that it does work best on towel dried damp hair. If you have longer thicker hair you might want to section off your hair and do a bit at a time. I highly recommend this hot air brush.misspammy

As someone who has curly and thick hair, straightening it is the hardest part of getting ready even if I dried it with my blow drier before and it isn't as curly as it normally is. I bought this today when it caught my eye as I was leaving. I have been curious about these kinds of straighteners ever since that first video went viral. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked. Two or three passes done correctly and done! You do have to section your hair especially if it's thick but it leaves your hair much nicer than if you used a regular flat iron. Doesn't pull out that much hair, maybe three or four strands here or there, nothing you wouldn't lose with a flat iron. Doesn't take that long to heat up but follow the instructions for your hair type. All around a great product if you count in that it does the same thing those $80 or $90 brush straighteners do for a lower price. As with anything, following the instructions is key. Not recommend for oily hair and you CANNOT use any type of heat protector or any products (heat safe or not) in your hair with ANY of these straightening brushes on the current market. Trust me, I've tried all from the cheap brands to the expensive and they all work GREAT and last awhile when you DON'T add products or have very oily hair because they leave a residue that is very hard if not impossible to fully clean off these things! Even if it looks clean it's still there! its a problem because then after use 2,3,4 etc times it smells, burns and causes it to overheat and damage your hair. The whole point of this is to do little to no damage to your hair but still have similar results that of a flat iron. It also doesn't get down to the roots of curly/very curly hair or thick. So if you need to use products better off with straightening COMB(easier to clean and gets roots) or regular flat iron.usvanes.3xbgdji6x
Hair tools are one key thing when trying to grow or manage your hair, the wrong tools can hinder most of the progress you are seeking to make. Now if you have soft silky hair, hair management is so easy peasy for you. Great for you, we love you too but we with thick or coarse hair want at the very least to have worthy tools for our battle with the hair. Being black, I have very thick tight;y curled hair, so straightening it takes hours. The thought of just running a brush through my hair and having it all straightened is so drool worthy. The only down side is the limit of its temp setting, if it could go higher, meaning faster straightening for really curly hair. It took some time but it did straighten my hair, without me spending back breaking hours, sectioning and straightening my hair. All it took was slow even brush strokes, through my mane and little by little I saw it straightening my tightly curled hair. Another flaw for me is in its design, that being the position of the control buttons. The buttons being by the side on the grip handle, means that every time you apply pressure to drag the brush through thick hair your fingers will be hitting the controls. messing with the temp settings. With that being said this is worth the buy. This brush has been a worthy addition to my arsenal, its design and function means better control over the mane. Trust me taming the 'Fro' is no easy task and any brush that can tangle with mine and not limp out a broken sordid mess is worth a mention.
