Best Lights For Home Office (2024 Update)

I'm on my 3rd one in 3 years for the same fixture. They are bright, look good but after a few months the whole fixture just blinks out. It's not that the leds quit but the whole fixture. Be sure to buy one if you need a new hobby or are planning to upgrade your electrical skills.None

This is such a nice, warm light. It looks modern without being too much of a statement in any one direction which is perfect for our home, which is a bit eclectic. The light has such a lovely warm glow and I love that it's an LED light for the efficiency and cost savings. These are great lights and I highly recommend them. This light has served us well over the last two years, really good light, but it failed today. 50 000 hours or 45 years at 3 hours per day is malinformation. It only lasted 18,691 hours (rounded down) if it was switched on for 24 hours a day, which it was not. Hope I can get a replacement or refund.Nico

Setup was easy. It's great that you can set it so the light isn't interfering with the sleep cycles. Setting to orange (peach) works well for that and you can set the brightness too.MICHAEL

If you purchase an echo dot for your kids or even yourself, I highly recommend adding this gadget with it or they. Both my kids have one in their room. You can adjust the color and sharpness from 0 to 100% by directly talking to Alexa or by using the app on your phone. It has solid colors and fun flickering options with specific names. It surprises me how this light never gets old with the kids, and they enjoy changing g it up.candy.s

I am an artist using a large Wacom Cintiq tablet that takes up most of my desk. There is not a lot of room for little lamps. I love how this lamp can clamp onto the edge of my desk and extend over my work area when I need it. It is very nice to be able to push it out of the way when I'm done with it. I am a big fan of Hue lighting and was very excited to add this lamp to my collection. Unfortunately I was very disappointed as soon as I plugged it in. Even at the brightest setting the amount of light emitted is very limited and does not provide anything close to what you would need to help light up a room. You basically just get a sliver of light against the wall. Secondly, the lamp itself is just ugly. It looks like a broom handle with light that comes out of one side. Ultimately I give it 2 stars because it seems very solidly built and the setup is very easy. It just doesn't serve any practical purpose to justify the high price tag.ansky

Sturdy & well made lamp for low money. Clips solidly to desks, shelves or tables. It’s pretty too. Looks like it’s more expensive than it is. Also like that it’s lightweight so doesn’t tip over or wilt. Stands in the position you put it in.Guest

I was worried that the clamp might be too weak. It isn’t. And the flexible tubing is sturdy, allowing you to adjust the lamp as you need but also not likely to wear out, making the lamp useless.JOHN

For years my lady and I have had a problem when staying at a hotel. She goes to bed early and I late and I like to read while she sleeps. Few hotels think of this when designing their lighting and often I end up reading in the bathroom. This will solve this. No sooner did we get it, however, than I found another use. At home I often read on the balcony in the early evening but come indoors for lack of light. Now I can stay out as long as I want to. If I had found one that is battery powered I would have bought it in preference, I think. LED lights take little power and I would be freed from the need to find an outlet. Initially I was happy with the amount of light it shined on my keyboard, The head has 12 led lamps. However, over time (one month) the number of working led lamps diminished to three! There does not appear to any way to open up to see what is going on inside.unclejoe

This light fixture appeared to be exactly what I was looking for when a similar halogen light died. Small, flexible, and clips onto a shelf. I used its predecessor to light the papers on my desk while working on my computer. Sadly, it’s too dim to do the job. It might make a good night light. But it’s useless for my purposes. The Lithonia Lighting FMLWL 48’ wraparound style LED light fixture is suitable for ceiling or wall mounting in closets, laundry rooms, garages and similar locations. It is a contractor grade fixture with a white metal case and white plastic diffuser lens. The fixture measures 47-3/8” x 5-1/2” x 2-5/8” and weighs about 5 lbs. The fixture’s linear LEDs are rated at 41 watts and produce 2900 lumens of 4000K color temperature light. 4000K is considered “cool white”. We needed a new light for our garage when moving in to our new home and this honestly fit perfectly. It’s super bright and lit up the whole garage(which our garage is pretty big) and is really easy to set up. We even got complements on how lit up our garage was compared to when we first moved in.Janie2129

I am a big fan of Philips Hue products. Not cheap, but if you are looking for dramatic lighting accents for a space, then Hue is the product. Purchased it for a wooden cabinet under a TV. The objective was to cast a color spray under the TV and light up the wall behind it. Like all Hue products, the setup and integration into the other lights in the house was seamless. However, as this light is intended for attaching to the back of the TV, or wall, or a piece of furniture, setup was a challenge at best. Brackets are provided that mount to a surface with a 3M adhesive pad. Positioning mistakes result in a real challenge and the old adhesive pad is near impossible to get rid of. Finally, from the front of the light set up, it performs perfectly and I love the effect. However, from a side view, the light is too thick and is rather a bit ugly. You take the bad with the good.ClanCian

Phillips hue Lighting is one of – if not the best on the market for whole-home lighting. While it is not the biggest in price to performance we might be shocked to find out that it poses a bigger value than originally anticipated. I use these in my kitchen as I rent and can't alter the cabinetry to slide a LED strip in without being visible and these fit and fill my kitchen BEYOND expectation. Let's start with the Home Ecosystem – this works with google home and apple home with EASE! I originally had Homekit as my original Home ecosystem however I switched to google because I prefer the ecosystem better and it has better integration with my Nest Cameras. However, this isn't about google home or Homekit! The lights are easily broken up into rooms to be called on at any moment be it lights on/off, change color, brightness, or if you have them integrated into your routine they can be controlled on a light-by-light basis giving you maximum control. The Phillips Hue App – This is how all apps should be, you could be convinced that this is a product owned by apple as it is THAT refined. The app gives you full home accessibility with or without a whole smart home ecosystem and it works QUICK. You can automate the lights to go on or off at times or when you come/leave home using a geolocator (the location of your phone vs the activation circle of your home) and to my surprise, it was pretty accurate. The LED lights/strips themselves are quite bright – enough that they can not be above 25% at night even as a walkway light, so do not fear that they will not fill up a room because they will. the Build quality is great and I have never received one that didn't work (and I have well over 10 bulbs, 7 or 8 strips, enough to know) out of the box. The only caveat I have against the lights is particularly against the LED strips and the 3m tape. It is great for MOST applications however on soft surfaces or the back of some TV's you will need to use another adhesive (I use alien tape or a good double-sided sticky) to make them stick long term. The lights are also all well sized and well cabled so if you don't want anyone to see a light in your kitchen they never will! Warranty – I did have to warranty one LED strip because it would light up two different colors (and no these lights don't have gradient built into them unless you get the wall LED's that specifically state they have gradient color lighting) when it was supposed to only be white so therefore I had my first RMA. It was effortless and smooth with zero complaints. There was no RMA hero as it was just a quick call and easy process. Longevity – I have had bulbs going on 4 years of everyday use and they still are just as bright as my newer bulbs and as far as LED strips none of mine have started to fade or have diodes die. Overall – I couldn't recommend these lights more for a cohesive integration into everyday life. While they might be on the more expensive side of Lights you get what you pay for here and you can do some funky stuff with them – for instance, I use the exterior LED lights inside because it is easy to make cool quick wall art out of them. If you are going to spend the money to convert your whole home over to a light eco system, spend the money and do it right so you never have to do it again. I love the Philips Hue ecosystem. I almost love these lights, too. They're sleek and the glow is nice. However, they are definitely pricey for what you get, and are quite small. Unfortunately, they are not bright enough to provide a room with light unless it is pretty much pitch black. I wanted to use a few of these mounted on the wall almost like ambient flood lights, but with any other light on at all in the room, they're quite hard to see. However, during a movie, with all the other lights off, and without any sunlight coming in, they look great!John F

The lighting for this LED long square light was outstanding. I put it up in my shed so that I would have a brighter light and it works very well. There’s no long light bulbs, there’s two drips of lights inside. Very well designed. I would recommend this light to anyone by far!!!Kristel

LED lights in my opinion are the best lights. I placed this in my garage that needed much better lighting and this works great. This lights up everything on the floor, so searching for the tool or bolts I just used is easier to see. I intend on getting a couple more of these to replace the old dull lights I have. Got this to replace an old fluoro fixture and it's been perfect. Nice and bright, and I like the lower profile/close to the ceiling. Easy installation other than the usual old man working over his head my arms are tired issues. We're using in standard on/off mode, not dimmable, so it's great. Most important thing to take note is that this ceiling light is OVAL shape. When I bought it, I thought it was round and photos of the light was taken at an angle, hence the oval shape in the photos.In any case, thankfully, the oval shape worked out fine. I was replacing my long stretch of spotlights with this 32 oval ceiling light.To install, first you need to screw 2 screws with the backplate onto the ceiling box. After that, you will need to mark 6 holes to place additional 6 more screws around the perimeter of the backplate. Once thats done, you can hook the light fixture onto the backplate thats attached to the ceiling while wiring the light fixture. After that, its a matter of sliding the light fixture onto the backplate which requires some nimble fingers to get all 4 corners hooked properly. .To change the color, you need to turn on and off the light switch quickly and you get a different hue of white light. It is also dimmable which I tested with the light switch in my posted images (right light switch).Overall Im very happy with the quality and hardware provided for the ceiling light. But I do think that it is a tad expensive. Would have been better priced at about $85 to $95.D.T.

This is a good quality lighting fixture. It rivals name brands that cost similarly. The mounting bracket is sturdy and easy to install over a J box and under a joist. It is relatively light weight and doesn't need much to hold it up. The light output is very good. It is a quick and easy process to cycle the light switch to change between the 2 color temperatures. The 2700K is nice for that incandescent look while the 4000K is nice when you need bright task lighting. 5 stars.Earth S.

Works as intended! I didn’t want or need the HDMI Sync from Philips, but I did want the light behind the TV. Easy setup and installation. Wish it came with more 3M adhesives. Consider location twice, since you can only “stick” it once of that is your preference. One works fine for me, but definitely considering getting two more lights. I have a small one bedroom condo and this light bar really topped off the mood. The more ambient light the better! Put it behind the TV as advertised and its awesome. I haven't quite found the ease on eye strain as it proposes it helps with but as I keep using it maybe i'll notice. It not only looks great for any mood, but also just lights up the dark corner that the TV was sitting behind in my place. My picture really doesn't do the bar justice but I have paired with one of many other hue bulbs including the one in the picture. The way the light looks its also going to depend on your tv placement and living room setting. Mine is in a corner so it looks no where near the website sales photos! Customize it to you!Sloth

Love these lights and the customization of colors etc. I have a set on our main TV in the living area, and we just got a new TV for our bedroom so I bought another light set for that. I love that its all controlled in the same app and you can set timers for lights to come on and off. Great for parties or just chilling at home. Definitely would recommend.Madi

The like or dislike of form and function has little relevance to an item whose very description of being "Long Lasting" did not meet expectations. The Mainstays Intertek 4000145 of the Arcadia Collection has a longer name and description than does it's life expectancy. I purchased the item just a few months ago and was disappointed that after minimal use it flickered and died. This is a continuing trend in todays marketplace being flooded with low quality, disposable, foreign made appliances and products. Sam Walton would be very disappointed in the direction the company he founded has taken, I'm sure. I have avoided going to Wal Mart at all costs for this very reason but in some areas where the Giant has eliminated all small town/local shopping options it remains the only place to shop. I am sure that this one opinion will not make any difference in the big picture that is the Global Giant destroying small towns across the country. I will continue to encourage my friends and families to shop small local businesses and patronize local flea markets and garage sales where higher quality "Long Lasting" vintage products that were made to stand the test of time consisting of years instead of months can be found at reasonable prices. I got each of my kids rooms these lamps 2 years ago. Now the little ones are really hard on everything and yet the lamps survived sooo much. Well, time to finally replace them and now they come in a sleaker more modern style – nice right? Unfortunately the light is a downgrade. After one week, one failed. Requested a replacement, approved and delivered super fast. Delivery day my daughter brought me hers – it had failed. No point in continuing to replace them, going to have to look elsewhere. Sad. There's obviously a short in the new configuration seeing that I've had multiple now fail in the same very dull, flickering manner.Emily

I just got my lamp today. So far – so good, except that I was expecting a brighter light. I suppose that is my fault because it clearly says it is 260 lumens, which is equal to a 25 watt bulb. I also neglected to read the reviews before making my purchase. That was also my fault. I needed a new lamp quickly and the the price was right. If I had known so many people had issues with the lamp flickering and/or dying after less than 6-months, I wouldn't have bought it. Just so you know, the little 'catch all' tray is just 4" in diameter and just under 1/4" deep. Other than paper clips, which I already have a place for in my desk drawer, it is just a dust collector, in my opinion. I am now in the process of looking at other options, and I will be sure to check whether it has a bulb that can be replaced. My biggest disappointment is that it isn't bright enough for my needs. It was inexpensive, so I will use it until it stops working; hopefully that won't be before I get a replacement lamp.Fyllis

Brilliant light! Brilliant design. Looks good. Easy to operate, does exactly what they say it does. Narrow lamp over your work is not intrusive, unlike. an angle-poise lamp with a large head. Lamp is light weight but very stable with the 7" base. Love the dimmer and color change options of the light. You can tilt bulb away from others who might be sitting/sleeping nearby or watching TV – a lot of flexibility to position the light. Great for reading and working on computer. The USB is a nice bonus. Can't say enough good things about it. Good price. I think it's a good option for someone with low vision – I'm getting her one!Lesley

This was a terrific desk lamp and my third one! It was economical, and that's the reason I got it. Also, the LED lights are not that hard on the eyes. I like how many options there are for different shades of light, and I like that you can put the brightness on different levels. It looks super professional and doesn't take up that much space. This is my third Tao Tronics lamp, so I definitely recommend this brand for an economical lamp that doesn't strain the eyes. I bought this lamp hoping that it would help improve the lighting on my Zoom calls whether they were for work or personal. I am still trying to figure out a way to have more light for my conference calls, but this did improve it some. The lamp is great for when you are using the computer(that's all I really use it for). It puts more light on the computer screen and the light is so gentle that my eyes don't hurt or feel as tired from staring at the screen. The temperature and brightness controls are so easy to use-you just tap it. It already came assembled and was so easy to begin using. I think my workspace has more light than it did though my workspace is still a bit dark(though it is not the lamp that causes this). I recommend this lamp for computer work or other tasks that require good lighting. It is sleek and stylish and does not take up much space on my desk. The head is adjustable. The only challenging thing is that the adapter plug is very short which makes it hard for me to move the lamp closer to me to see if having it closer would help improve the lighting. It's definitely way better than it was! I recommend buying this lamp!M

I ordered two boxes with two in each box but they sent four boxes equaling eight in charged $44 for shipping and handling since a they sent in two different boxes in charge 550 for one light weight box with a lightweight plastic light in it. The QVC guy said that wasn’t his department and hung up they only stay on for 10 seconds and give you half of a command strip to hang them on something they’re not magnetic as they say. I needed them for my mother-in-law coming out of her bedroom across to the bathroom in the middle of the night but only staying on for 10 seconds is not enough. They are going back and now they taking the product off the market it’s no longer available on QVC. I wonder why????redman66

Bought them thinking it would bring light to an unlit closet and above the sink.Terrible function! They would come on and off randomly, mostly off. Charging was a joke. I imagine if you had a nearby outlet it would be better.I did not so removing from the strips, plugging them in to charge which held the shortest charge of any device I have, and then to re attach to a strip, it got old very quickly.I tossed them. Nice idea but the technology just not there, at least from this company.maythe

We have several deep closets in our home that should have had hard wired lights installed when the home was built, but they weren't. I've used other lights and flash lights in the past. I've grumbled every time I've turned on the hall lights and it's just not enough. When I bought these I had hoped they might work, but they have exceeded my expectations! We LOVE these lights! I have gotten so accustom to having the light automatically turn on when I open the door. I'm actually a little disappointed when I open a cabinet and it remains dark because I don't have a light bar in there yet. These aren't cheap, but they are worth the money! Not only do the work wonderfully in large closets, but my children also take them outside when we sit around the fire pit in the woods. They charge pretty quickly and last for months if being used on the motion sensing mode in the closet. They last a few hours if left on continuously at the fire pit. As I was looking at another product I thought oh wouldn't it be nice if Good Earth made those lights round with a remote feature. I'd love to have the look and convenience of recessed lighting without tearing these old ceilings apart. The other product(s) available on QVC didn't check all the boxes.Toni789

Great light! Extremely flexible neck. Bends all over the place and pretty much stays exactly where you aim it. You can get lighting right where you want it. Very nice base. The touch sensitive "buttons" have a high quality feel. The bendy neck is smooth and sleek. Only thing I would change is make the cord a couple of feet longer. I am sure it's perfectly adequate for most, I prefer long cords. I loved this lamp so much I went back and bought another one! Love the way the head of the lamp splits apart for a larger lit area. Of course splitting the head makes the light less intense but that was expected.SavingSanity
