I have oily skin so I was excited to receive this oil-free cleanser in exchange for my honest review. I've tried a few other REN skincare products and find that they work pretty well. This particular cleanser is a part of their new mission to use recycled materials in their packaging. The new packaging is a green tub instead of this pump pictured. The lid is 100% recycled materials while the bottle is 80% recycled materials. I like that they are making strides to change all of their packaging to be more eco-friendly. The cleanser itself has a medium thickness in regards to the texture but it glides on very smoothly. I didn't have to use a lot to clean my face and neck. I haven't tried it with makeup on but I think it will pair well with an oil cleanser first then this product. My skin felt clean as I rinsed and it didn't feel overly tight or uncomfortable once it dried. It left my skin a little dry but ready for the other products in my routine. I haven't experienced any negative reactions to the cleanser so it seems decent for sensitive skin. The scent isn't my favorite and smelled strong in the bottle but it wasn't as overwhelming when using it. I will continue to use the cleanser and would recommend trying it if you're able to.
I have loved this cleanser and I love REN (I use a lot of their products). I use this as part of a double cleanse with the balm and my sensitive skin is happy. No drying out and no sensitivity. Both hard for me to find in a cleanser. However recently I purchased the squeeze bottle (directly through REN). I am beyond bummed as I had previously used the pump. The bottle has too big of a hole and each time I squeeze a glob worth at least five face washes comes out. I’m wasting so much product. Quite honestly I can’t see myself continuing with this cleanser when I am paying this price and wasting this much. I have thought about moving it to another bottle but that is a lot of work for something I’m already putting a lot of money into. I’m a skincare junkie and cleansers are my favorite face product. So much so that I have at least 6 opened cleansers that are in my current rotation. I would say that in the category of gentle cleansers, this ranks at the top! It doesnt have a strong scent, it smells the way non-fragranced cleansers smell but with a slight touch of something…..grapes maybe? It goes away pretty quickly whatever it is. If you're a fan of cleansers that don't foam up a lot, you'll love this one. While it does have a pretty strong lather, it doesnt get foamy or soapy when added with water. It has a really nice, soft, gel texture that's really mild and pleasant to use. I strongly dislike cleansers that get too sudsy so this one was perfect for me. And since it doesnt get too sudsy, it doesnt dry out your skin. The ultimate test for me is if I wash my face and don't put on face moisturizer for like 30 mins or so. During all that time, my face did not tighten up or feel dry at all! For context, I have oily acne prone skin. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because it's not great at removing heavy makeup. I would recommend removing makeup first with a cleansing balm or oil, then followup with this as the second part to your double cleanse. I would recommend this gentle cleanser for all skin types but especially those with sensitive skin. The full size version is 5oz so this will last me for several months. I bought this product because it advertises as being safe for sensitive and dry skin. As one review states, it is very much meant to be a first step cleanser in your double cleansing routine because it is oil-based. While using it, it feels nice and "milky" but I felt like it was being absorbed into my skin while I was spreading it, and I found I needed more product than I initially believed (5-8 pumps versus the typical 2-3 I normally would use with any other oil based cleanser). The product doesn't emulsify in any sense of the word, it kind of just disappears when you add water, so it is difficult to tell if you've washed it off until you use your second cleanser. Thus, when you do wash it off, it can feel like there is a weird film on your skin if not washed off properly. However, it does leave my skin feeling nice and moisturizing afterwards, which is something I liked. I didn't notice it break me out, but my face was noticeably brighter and softer the next day after using the cleansing milk. Considering my skin reacts to basically everything and it did not with this product, I'd say give it a go if your skin is also like mine (sometimes water makes it too sensitive, go me~) and you don't mind using a lot of product that disappears in water. I use this cleanser every night with just two pumps. This product really helps to remove my minimal makeup and stacks of sunscreen without making my skin feel stripped or feel tight. I use this together with Solved Skincare's Coconut Water Cleansing Foam and my skin is clear from any dirt, sebum, and the stuff I wear during the daytime. Even though this product has bergamot fruit oil, the smell is not noticeable at all for me, but I would be cautious for those who are sensitive to essential oils. Okay so this is now my HOLY Grail cleanser. I got into skincare during quarantine and decided to go on a journey to find the perfect vegan skincare routine for me right now. I bought this mascara as I needed something waterproof to last through snowfall. It worked okay but it wasn’t anything amazing. The formula felt half dried out right from when I first opened the tube, and became completely dried out within about a month and a half. I ended up replacing this mascara with a drug store waterproof mascara that cost half the price and works much better. People are totally misunderstanding this mascara. For frame of reference, my current favorite mascaras are the original Diorshow, the Milk Kush and Maybelline Full and Soft. The Maybelline mascara is incredibly underrated: the definition is dark and it leaves you with soft, dark daytime lashes. It is my go to for every day. The Milk mascara is pretty amazing: lots of volume and definition, and as a bonus it is SUPER easy to remove. I was hesitant to try the Dior pump n’ volume mascara because as much as I love the original Diorshow, I hate the fact that after two weeks the formula is dried out and just doesn’t apply or look the same. I have stopped investing in it for that reason. I got the pump n volume mascara as a sample and it definitely has a learning curve. It is true that this mascara does appear to “clump”…. but it doesn’t clump in the stereotypical bad mascara way. It’s very hard to explain…. I don’t know if it’s the formula, the brush, or a combination of the two. The brush is not the dense bushy brush that I usually love. But there is something about the way this mascara applies, and about the formula: it gives my lashes tons of lift that stays all day until I remove it. And while it does appear to “clump”, the final result is visually appealing instead of gloppy and messy looking… very much like a subtle false lash affect. I got no smudging, fall out, or flaking from this mascara. And lastly, it comes off like a dream with standard micellar water. TIP: do NOT use the usual ‘place at the lash root and wiggle to the tips’ application- it promotes the clumps. Use a straight, light handed and swift stroke. I hadn't tried this cleanser before, but the reviews were good. It is indeed very light, which suits me because I don't wear make-up at work. It feels getnle and creamy on the skin – I just rinse it off and pat my face dry, and my skin is left soft and comfortable overnight. I think, for make-up wearers, it might need a bit more help, but for me it is fine at night. This is a great cleanser – effective, good for sensitive skin – but did not enjoy using it because of the texture. Not sure how to describe it other than "gummy?" It kind of rolls around as a glob when you try to rub it between your hands, even more difficult to apply to your face. Excellent! My holy grail. I have been using this for years. My skin is super dry — with other creams it gets drier, but with this one it is well moisturized. I use this once every few days since the moisturizing effect lasts a long time on my skin. Texture is a bit too thick for me to use during the day and also takes time to be absorbed, so I use at night. You'd feel sticky for the first few mins, but once it's absorbed it's really moisturizing. Fragrance free is a plus for me as well. I just wish it would come in a bigger size.iHerb Customer
I have never been a fan of Cetaphil's standard line of cleansers, but I'm impressed by this newer addition to their lineup. It's a nice morning cleanser and hasn't given me any irritation even when I have to wear a face mask for 8 hours for the rest of the day. I am knocking off one star for the texture. I would describe it as "stiff" coming out of the tube; it resists spreading at first. Going in with wet hands, lathering it a bit between my palms, and applying to an already-wet face solves that in my experience, but it may be offputting for some. Also, this is fragrance-free with very low amounts of plant extracts – the smell is raw ingredients, a bit plasticky in nature. Doesn't bother me and isn't impacting my score, but that's been showing up in a lot of reviews and it's worth mentioning.Melo

Bought this cleanser thinking it would be good. Very disappointed so far. Drug store brand or BASIS soap is way cheaper and made with natural ingredients. Won’t buy again and won’t return. Will not buy anymore JM products online all are disappointing. The 2 things I use I can get at Sephora. The face butter and vitamin C serum I use and the concealer with rubber tip I like in light. I spent tons of money on these products and threw most of them away because they went bad or smell was horrible. They don’t last. May go back to cosmetics in store buying not JM products. QVC does a very poor packaging job also … nothing is ever boxed …. Just thrown in paper … not safe with Covid. I am in healthcare as well as being a Licensed Esthetician so I can’t recommend … sorry.
There are some things I like about this cleanser, but I will not reorder. If I do not have makeup on, I think it cleans well on bare skin. It does not do a good job of removing foundation or any eye makeup and it burns my eyes. I like that it doesn't have a scent and doesn't require much more than two pumps of product. My skin does not feel hydrated and feels a bit tight after cleansing. The bottle states it calms the skin and cleans pores which might explain why my skin is red, blotchy and itchy. I was using this Argan Niaminacide cleanser and Purity Made Simple when I wear makeup. I do not know which one I was allergic to but currently my face is broken out, blotchy, red and itchy. It's possible I'm allergic to the Niaminacide in this product. Or Purity has changed their product ingredients. For now, I will just use goat milk soap until my skin calms down.Dry and Itchy
OMG this is finally my dreamboat cleanser. I love Josie's oil one and the pineapple one, but this one is so pillowy and comforting, so soft and gentle and moisturizing. It never hurts my eyes and feels like a soft self care spa moment. I have looked for years for a nurturing cleanser like this one. Sometimes in the shower I will use one of Josie's other face cleansers, and then I will use this one and leave it on during my shower to get more moisture. I love this! xoJenny A.

Despite having a bad experience with the moisturizer, I needed a new cleanser and after hearing some recommendations for this one I decided to try the mini size, and I must say, I’m impressed! For whatever the reason, the cream irritates my face so I was a little worried about this cleanser, but thankfully it didn’t! It’s nice and thick, really creamy, and feels nice being rubbed into the skin. I have pretty dry skin so I like using cream cleansers for hydration. It’s especially good for the cold months. I don’t wear a lot of makeup so I can’t properly say whether it cleans it all off or not, but I do wear other skincare products including SPF and I felt like this gave me a good cleanse while not stripping my skin of moisture. I never had any problems with the formula turning weird like some other users have said. The packaging is also cute which is a plus. I will say I’m taking a star off cause it’s pricey. But it’s actually one of my favorite cleansers I’ve tried so I might just suck it up. Overall I would recommend, especially to those with dry skin!aglazer
My holy grail cleanser for dry skin. It's not going to remove all your makeup as your first cleanser (especially mascara) so don't expect this to do what a cleansing balm or oil will do. However, it will in fact remove minimal makeup so sometimes I can get away with just using this. It has an amazing creamy texture, I don't notice a fragrance (maybe slight) and most important of all for me is that it doesn't strip my skin as do other cleansers. Very underrated. I have probably tried about 100 different types of cleansers on the market and this was one of my least favourite. I was actually surprised with all the positive reviews, because I did not experience anything that great about this cleanser. If you use too much product, it does a huge lather on your face, but then when you need to rinse your face, you’re all dry and flaky. If you use just a little bit, it doesn’t lather up or do anything on your face and it does not remove your make up at all. You just have some sort of filmy residue left behind. I am a combination skin type, acne prone and I found this face wash clogged my pores. For the price, I found it was not worth it and it certainly did not clean my skin well. I noticed every time I used it, I would suffer from a breakout, so sadly, I returned it. I bought this product in hope of finding a cleanser that didn't leave my skin dry or irritated but could still remove my daily spf. The retail worker in the store assured me it would remove any makeup or spf at the end of the day. I used it a couple of times and noticed my skin still felt greasy, not knowing if it was still my spf on my face or a residue from the cleanser, I pushed my concern aside and used it again the next night, wanting to trust in the recommendation I received from the staff member. Unfortunately the day after the second use I could see so much congestion in my skin as well as redness and some irritation due to product that had been left on my skin. This soap lathers nicely and has a light clean scent. It is labeled as mild and is formulated for dry combination skin. I have dry skin with occasional oily spots/breakouts so I thought this soap would be perfect for me, but unfortunately I never saw the results I hoped for. My skin usually felt drier after using it, like that tight skin feeling. Clinique specifically claims that this won’t cause that feeling so maybe this is just a “my skin” problem. My main issue with this soap is that my skin never felt squeaky clean after use. I think it is too gentle for me, which to be fair, it is a mild cleanser, but I still expect clean skin with all cleansers. Especially after using a cleansing balm, I need a cleanser that will really clean up my skin. It might be good for someone with sensitive skin or to use as a light morning cleanser. I have combination oily, aging, sometimes sensitive skin, prone to acne/milia, and I use the facial soap for oily skin. It is a liquid gel consistency and doesn't necessarily foam, but is effective at removing my sunscreen, moisturizer, sweat, sebum, the little makeup that I wear, and any dirt/pollution. [If you wear makeup, I'd recommend using makeup remover first, then finish with this cleanser.] I turn cleansing into a massage using this product, to give the active ingredients time to work, on my face, ears, neck, decollete, and the bumpy areas on the back of my upper arms (KP). My face feels fresh and clean, not stripped, and there is a lovely cooling minty sensation on my skin as the water evaporates. It is a lovely experience! On days when my skin feels like it might react to actives or the minty fresh sensation, (I use Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser instead, as a backup plan, but this is my preferred cleanser.) Also, a little goes a long way–it only takes one or two pumps of product per cleansing. I'd recommend this for anyone with oily skin, male or female (it's unscented and gender neutral), but if acne is a bigger problem, go with the acne line of products Clinique offers. I follow cleansing with this soap with Clarifying Lotion 3 (exfoliant toner) and Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel or Jelly (both are oil free–the DDM lotion has oils). I usually use drugstore / pharmacy micellar waters but decided to try something high-end, I was curious if there’s a difference. Well, there’s not. My drugstore micellar water works just as well. But it doesn’t mean that this product is bad. On the contrary, it’s a gentle but effective cleanser, suitable for all skin types. I always double cleanse, I use it after my Korres Wild Rose foaming gel. Bi-Facil removes the rest of my makeup, especially mascara. I started looking around for better cleansers after getting tired of my face towel still picking up makeup AFTER I washed my face. Also I needed a quick fix to gently remove makeup on those nights I was too tired or lazy to do a full cleansing. Enter Lancome Eau Fraiche! Just sweep this stuff over your made-up face and the makeup dissolves away instantly. No muss, no fuss. it does not irritate my extremely sensitive skin, nor does it contribute to dryness. Normally I do wash with foam cleanser afterwards too, although the packaging says no rinsing required. Oh, and I do use a separate eye makeup remover (Bi-facil is my favorite). But no more foundation streaks on my clean towels that I dry my face with. This is one of the best cleansers and makeup removes I've found. I usually use the Lancome comfort face wash with the pink lettering(can't remember the name), but decided to switch to this since it's much larger(though the small one of the other normally lasts me almost a year). My skin is prone to dryness,flaking,and irritation, especially as the colder months roll around. I use this at night as a makeup remover and cleanser and ot noticeably shrinks my pores and makes my skin silky smooth,soft,and hydrated. Anything by Yonka Paris is highly recommended by me always. Hands down. It is not easily found however. You will need to make your purchases online if you’re interested. Or find a local Yonka salon that sells it exclusively. The packaging is very original and very classy. The ingredients are so healing and soothing and calming. It is the best product line I have ever used.

This is a gentle nonfoaming cleanser that's very affordable. I would recommend trying this since it cleans without stripping and can be easier to find than other nonfoaming cleansers which can cause dryness. Keep in mind this wont remove makeup very well. Try cleansing with a no or low comedogenic oil cleanser first and this as a second cleanser. Ones to consider are Kose Softymo Speedy, Rohto Hada Labo Gokujyun, or iUNIK Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil. My only concerns are the mild smelling fragrance and phenoxyethanol which is used as a preservative or fragrance stabilizer. Both can cause skin irritation, even if mildly. The concentration of these ingredients is likely very low but it would be great if it's possible to get a product without them. I don't need good smells, I need good skin.Adds8
First of all it is no wonder that the people who give minimal points for this cleanser usually have oily skin or combination. Sure it may still work but most people with this type of skin will want a more foamy consistency than the milky consistency like this cleanser. It's important to remember that this cleanser is for people that are on the dry/sensitive skin scale. I have sensitive skin that is prone to redness, dryness and itchiness. This cleanser does not leave me feeling with that tight feeling or over dry. The smell is also very calming. I use pure rosewater on a cotton pad as a toner and then i moisturize. It's a bit on the pricey side here in NZ but I think it is worth it especially if you have sensitive skin.tamara.m
This is very gentle, however it has a smell to it. I have sensitive skin and acne prone skin. The fragrance was light however I feel like it triggered texture. I like the Avocado cleanser so much better and recommend this one for acne prone, sensitive skin because it has no Fragrance that will trigger a reaction. If fragrance does not bother you then I do not think you will have a problem with this gentle non foaming cleanser.ti
